85% of fluid milk in the USA is packaged in monolayer HDPE packaging, with the result that any reduction in the amount of plastic used can have a major impact on reducing the carbon footprint.
This presentation discusses the results of studies of a progression of ways in which the amount of plastic used in the creation of gallon jugs can be reduced.
–Light-weighting through container design.
–Adding calcium carbonate as a filler.
–Light-Weighting + optimizing for calcium carbonate filler.
These results meet recommendations coming out of the Life Cycle Analysis study conducted by the Innovation Center for US Dairy which recommended light-weighting or container weight reduction as a key focus area for improvement in the supply chain impact of fluid milk.
A recipe for the gallon jug of the future is presented, and the hypothesis made that “Integrated Design” will be the next frontier in creating a more sustainable gallon jug for milk.

Diabetes is a rapidly and serious health problem in Pakistan. This chronic condition is associated with serious long-term complications, including higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Aggressive treatment of hypertension and hyperlipideamia can result in a substantial reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes 1. Consequently pharmacist-led diabetes cardiovascular risk (DCVR) clinics have been established in both primary and secondary care sites in NHS Lothian during the past five years. An audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery at the clinics was conducted in order to evaluate practice and to standardize the pharmacists’ documentation of outcomes. Pharmaceutical care issues (PCI) and patient details were collected both prospectively and retrospectively from three DCVR clinics. The PCI`s were categorized according to a triangularised system consisting of multiple categories. These were ‘checks’, ‘changes’ (‘change in drug therapy process’ and ‘change in drug therapy’), ‘drug therapy problems’ and ‘quality assurance descriptors’ (‘timer perspective’ and ‘degree of change’). A verified medication assessment tool (MAT) for patients with chronic cardiovascular disease was applied to the patients from one of the clinics. The tool was used to quantify PCI`s and pharmacist actions that were centered on implementing or enforcing clinical guideline standards. A database was developed to be used as an assessment tool and to standardize the documentation of achievement of outcomes. Feedback on the audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery and the database was received from the DCVR clinic pharmacist at a focus group meeting.

The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. Supporting text: “The livestock sector is vital to global nutrition and food security. It contributes an estimated 26 percent of total global protein consumption and 13 percent of calorie intakes. Animal source foods are also rich in micronutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin B12, riboflavin, calcium, iron and zinc which are critical to the growth and development of children. No other sector is more important to the lives and livelihoods of the poor than livestock. About one billion poor derive at least part of their livelihood from livestock. In addition to food, livestock also provides important products and services such as asset savings, traction, manure for fuel and fertilizers, and fiber. Livestock are often the last resort for people that lack other assets or forms of income. The livestock sector is an important part of the global economy and comprises an estimated 40 percent of total agricultural GDP. This inclusive review process aims to guarantee that all guidelines are scientifically robust and relevant for the livestock supply chains and their stakeholders. In several geographical areas, water is an increasingly scarce resource whose availability varies widely over temporal and spatial scales. In addition, other challenges such as climate change and increasing competition with other users (e.g. other agriculture sectors, household, industry, tourism, etc.) is exacerbating water scarcity.
Grassland can be an important carbon sink. Grassland can play a role in mitigating livestock emissions and also be a potential source of extra income (if carbon markets work at some point in the future). Soil carbon storage is influenced by several factors: soil type, climate, agriculture practices. Thus it’s hard to be modeled.
