This document analyzes the displacement of a cantilever beam made of different materials (aluminum, copper, steel) using finite element modeling (FEM). The study found that displacement under load increases with increasing Poisson's ratio from 0.3 to 0.33 but decreases from 0.33 to 0.36. Stress also increases with increasing Poisson's ratio. Frequency at the first vibration mode decreases from steel to copper as Poisson's ratio increases from 0.3 to 0.36. The FEM package was able to accurately simulate and analyze beam behavior under longitudinal load.
