This document summarizes research on the production and characterization of Aluminum-Silicon Carbide (AlSiC) metal matrix composites fabricated using stir casting. Samples of AlSiC composites with 5-30% SiC by weight were produced. Testing showed that hardness and impact strength increased with higher SiC content, with maximum values at 25% SiC. Microstructure examination found increasing homogeneous dispersion of SiC particles with methods using mechanical stirring during production. The study demonstrated that stir casting can produce AlSiC composites with improved mechanical properties for engineering applications.
