Dragobete's Day is a Romanian holiday celebrated on February 24th that originated from ancient traditions. It serves as a Romanian Valentine's Day where young people would meet to symbolically commit to romantic relationships for the coming year through rituals involving flowers, chasing games, and dances. The day was seen as a way to ensure protection, health, and fertility for the coming year and involved superstitions like not working or seeing a potential partner.

A young tree was tired of staying in the shade and wanted to travel and bear star dust on its branches. It began climbing higher and higher, leaving its friends behind, until it was alone on a rock. Feeling lonely, it asked if anyone would accompany it. Santa Claus overheard and asked why it was upset. When the tree said it was lonely and wanted to play with children, Santa Claus gave it to a family with children who decorated it with stars and toys for Christmas Eve, fulfilling the tree's dream.
In Romania, Christmas is celebrated on December 25th. Traditions include eating cookies, soup, and forcemeat rolls for Christmas meals. On Christmas Eve, people wait for carol singers dressed in traditional costumes, rewarding them with gifts. Children look forward to the smells from the kitchen and playing in the snow. Decorations include coloring the Christmas tree with ornaments and lights. Children write letters to Santa and find presents under the tree on Christmas morning.
Romanian winter customs focus on Christmas, New Year's, and Epiphany celebrations. Traditions include children singing carols and receiving gifts, the Plugusor ritual where children make wishes with a miniature plow, and Sorcova where children carry flower-decorated sticks to wish people a happy new year. On Epiphany, a priest blesses water and splashes parishioners with basil leaves in a ceremony near a body of water.
Romanians have many traditions surrounding the changing of seasons and holidays. In March, they celebrate the coming of spring with trinkets, which are amulets made of twisted threads in white and black or red colors. On March 9th, they celebrate 40 Martyr Saints Day, making cookies shaped like eights to honor the martyrs. At Easter, people clean their houses, get new clothes, light candles at church to bring light home and protect against storms. They paint eggs as symbols of renewal, which has become an art form. On October 14th, tens of thousands of pilgrims go to Iasi to celebrate Saint Paraskeva and pray at her relics for healing. At Christmas, children go car
