Case Study Of Taneja s Saras Aircraft Supply Chain
improving their strategic position within Taneja s Saras aircraft supply chain, namely through reducing
costs both by considerable changes in organization and management and by establishing their own
subcontractors network, onto which they shift a share of the cost increase. This aspect clearly shows
that the adoption of an MRP system at Taneja s Saras aircraft has two implications on the supply
chain: It imposes more stress in the supply chain. Subcontractors have to both reduce costs and meet
Taneja s new requirements; it is actually supportive of relations between customers and
subcontractors. Through changes in Material requirement planning professional skills and
information, subcontractors establish a strengthened relationship with the customer. From the case

War Heroes Voices from Iraq
For my book report, I read the book War Heroes Voices from Iraq by Allan Zullo. The author
interviewed ten soldiers about the time they spent in Iraq. The book tells ten different real life stories
of soldiers and what amazing things they did in Iraq. The one thing all of these soldiers have in
common is that they thought they were just doing their jobs. These soldiers are true heroes because
each of them risked their own lives to save others and to protect our country. Even though a lot of
soldiers would do that, not all survive to tell about it. The book tells ten different stories about very
special heroes. I would like to tell you about my three favorite stories. The first of my favorite stories

Maine Corps. Marco was in the invasion of Iraq in 2003. He went to Bagdad to fight. Marco was sent
to the North of Bagdad to a small village called al Tarmiyah to do recon. Marco and his battalion ran
into the enemy. The marines were ambushed so his squad got out and ran 200 yards of terrain under
enemy fire. Marco s squad leader got hit by a piece of shrapnel and could not go on. Marco was next
in line to be the leader. Next, Marco and his squad went into one of the houses to kill the insurgents.
They cleared the house. Behind that house was a guesthouse. There were five terrorists in the
guesthouse. There were a few palm trees too. Marco ran behind one of the palm trees for cover. The
other marines of his squad were behind a narrow wall. Marco found a RPG on his way running for
cover behind the palm tree. He picked it up and tried to fire it at the enemy, but the RPG didn t work.
Marco then figured out the RPG had a dual trigger system. He figured it out, and fired it. Marco killed
the insurgents and earned the Navy Cross. I liked this story because Marco s life was screwed up
before joining the military. When he wanted to join the military, Marco started working hard at school
and gave up getting in trouble. In the end, Marco earned a medal! Finally, my last favorite story is
called Ambushed! The story is about Corporal Jeremiah Workman. Jeremiah was a marine involved in

Texas Safe Sex Education
Purpose
Proper education is key when it comes to preventing teen pregnancy, and that is why Be Safe, Not
Sorry is dedicated to the education of young adults. Sexual education is taught in public schools at
varying levels but does not have as serious of an impact as is intended. Brazos Independent School
District (BISD) includes a curriculum on abstinence, but further explanation on safe sex practices is
not included. Focusing on teenage girls between 15 and 19 years old, Be Safe, Not Sorry strives to
expand on their current knowledge of safe sex practices in order to prevent teen pregnancies. As of
2014, Brazos City, Texas has a teen pregnancy rate of about 30 out of 1,000 teenage girls. To address
this issue, Be Safe, Not Sorry will be a program ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the guidance of professors at the school, we formed the organization after research was
conducted in the community and showed results of very high levels of teen pregnancy. After working
with high school teachers in the school district, we discovered that the sexual education curriculum
severely lacks in structure. The current curriculum focuses primarily on abstinence, but Be Safe, Not
Sorry believes healthy sexual behaviors must be taught. Through the education of the staff and
resources, Be Safe, Not Sorry created an after school program to teach sexual education intended to
increase the knowledge of teenagers on safe sex practices. The annual budget for Be Safe, Not Sorry is
about $30,000, but the cost of the program is estimated to be between $35,000 and $40,000.
Staff Experience Be Safe, Not Sorry is an organization containing health professionals such as health
students and educators, nurses, and doctors. All of the student members from the Texas A M Health
Science Center are undergraduate students in their final year or graduate students. Nurses and doctors
will be brought in for the sessions to give lectures or testimonies on teen pregnancies.
While degrees in the medical field are preferred by most, they are not required to know the
consequences of teen pregnancy. Parents of teenage mothers will also be brought in to give their
testimonies and

Data Analysis Processing And Analysis
Data Analysis Processing and Analysis To test the hypothesis that national board certification (primary
independent variable) has an effect on reading scores and reading levels (dependent variable); an
ordinal regression analysis was applied using R for statistical analysis and coding of data. The ordinal
regression was used to rank the predictor variables; A. Certification and Years of Experience, B.
Advance degree and Years of Experience, and C. Certification and Advance Degree. In addition,
reading levels were ranked from the lowest reading text level to the highest text level. The reading
scores were collected from national board certified and non national board certified teachers. The data
collected included the beginning of year and end of year reading scores. The dependent variable
reading score is likely dependent on more than just board certification. Predictor variables, including
advanced degrees and years of service included in the regression to give a more robust picture of the
actual effect of board certification has on reading scores (McClendon, 1994). The researcher displayed
data results of advanced degree and national board effects in a 2x2 contingency table. The table
analysis was utilized to reveal the independence and dependence between the variables. The
dispersion of the data occurred in the final stage of the analysis known as the inferential statistical
phase. At this point the researcher determined whether a significant correlation exists

Jungian Psychological Profiles in Glenngarry Glen Ross Essay
Glengarry Glen Ross: A Jungian Perspective David Mamet wrote the play Glengarry Glen Ross as a
look into the world of sales. As with most of his work, capitalism and its effect on the actors is a major
theme. Stories as they are written have characters that have different roles based on their personalities
and behaviors. This assignment of roles is something that has spanned the history of literary works.
Carl Jung, Swiss psychiatrist and the founder of analytical psychology explained these roles people
assume and their meaning. The term he used to refer to these character descriptions is called
archetypes. All of the characters in the play have problems. Most of these are based in personality
flaws and a lack of moral character. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the animalistic part of the shadow; the resorting to primal instincts. He tries to bargain with
Williamson. He offers a percentage of all future sales to him. When these do not work he resigns
himself to the consequences. Coupled with the shadow we see Levene exemplify the persona. This
archetype is described as a symbol of the protective cover or mask. (Jung 287) Levene acts in a
manner while on the in the office with a co workers client that is a full flight from reality. He acts like
he is a vice president of American Express and travels the world. This is a ruse he jumps into with no
preparation and pulls it off beautifully. This mask he uses whether to deceive his clients, himself, or
others, is his persona. It is dishonest from its onset. This core dishonesty is how the shadow archetype
is manifesting in his psyche. Just like the vicious cycle with the leads here we see the cycle of his
dishonesty in every aspect of his work life being transmitted into the shadow archetype, his
subconscious now makes instinctual decisions from a negative jumping off place. The more he
participates in this pattern the deeper the pathology sets in him. To round out this character we can
apply the scapegoat archetype. The scapegoat archetype is defined as the one who gets blamed for
everything, regardless of whether he or she is actually at fault. (Essortment) Sure he is to blame for the

Essay about Spanish Resistance to Napoleon
Napoleon and the Spanish Resistance
Throughout time, the military has been considered one of the key features in a civilization. It has been
considered the heart and soul of many countries and empires and has been the center of many cultures.
Throughout history we have seen many military leaders and military powers. We have seen military
techniques and technology change as we progress. Our schools are filled with legends of great war
heroes and hard fought battles. One such hero is Napoleon Bonaparte, perhaps one of the greatest
generals who ever lived. In his adventures and conquest, as general of the French army, he warred
against many lands. These included Spain, in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some guerillas will even use crowds to conceal themselves, called urban guerillas. Urban guerillas
have to rely heavily on support from the citizens. Guerilla warfare basically relies on one standard.
The element of surprise. Often, guerillas will not be in uniform and carry just a concealed weapon. By
doing this it helps the guerillas startle the enemy and catch them off guard, giving them the clear cut
advantage. Also, the enemy is always in a state of fear, never knowing when or where these guerillas
could pop out and attack. They are constantly on watch and they tire easily. By using guerilla warfare,
forces are able to lower they re casualties while increasing their opponents, even if they are winning
cheap. Because they often time use cowardly tactics, guerillas are usually considered terrorists by their
opponents. Sometimes however, this can be true. Guerillas in some cases have used propaganda, or
started revolts to win over their cause. Instead of trying to defeat their enemy, they try to create chaos,
hoping to drive their enemy out. Massive riots and sabotage are not at all uncommon in guerilla wars.
All in all, guerilla warfare is the use of unconventional war tactics used against enemies that follow
these conventional laws.
Now that we have cleared that up, lets move to the actual events that took place. Spanish resistance
was mainly part of the Peninsular War, or as some call it, Napoleon s

Compare And Contrast Odysseus And Robin Hood
Throughout history, no matter the number of times heroes change, the foundation of what makes a
hero stays the same. In order to stay relevant to the times, Modern heroes, such as Robin Hood, can
appear very different from classical heroes, like Odysseus, but they will always be very skillful with a
weapon yet suffer from hubris. Therefore, Homer s The Odyssey, the 13th century Rifson ballad, and
Pyle s The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood depict that Odysseus and Robin Hood are similar in the
skill of archery to outwit each of their respective enemies and hubris, a flaw which directly aligns with
glory.
Odysseus and Robin Hood are similar in many ways. For example, they are both skillful in archery.
When Odysseus finally reveals himself to the suitors, he proves his identity by effortlessly stringing
his bow. When he releases, the arrow shoots from the bow clean as a whistle through every socket of
the axes (Homer XXI. 481 482). The suitors are impressed with his ability to perfectly string the bow
and shoot it, a task many of them fail to complete. Odysseus disguise of the old man allows him to use
the element of surprise, dumbfounding the suitors, with his ability to shoot the great bow. Odysseus
then slaughters the suitors who have been drinking all his wine, eating his food, and pursuing his wife.
Similarly, Robin Hood uses his advanced skills in archery to win the hand of the princess and beat his
enemy, the sheriff. When the sheriff holds an archery match in order

Geroge Orwell Essay
Geroge Orwell
One of the things Orwell bequeathed us was the adjective Orwellian .... It is a frightening word,
generally applied to a society organized to crush and dehumanize the individual, sometimes signifying
the alienation of that individual if he dares to rebel (Lewis 13). George Orwell, the pseudonym for
Eric Arthur Blair, depicted the importance of the individual in society and the danger of too much
community in his literature. Through his personal experiences, however, he explored the ideas of
socialism and was torn between the individual and community ideals. In his literature and his past,
Orwell spoke against movements that remove the individual, but still emphasized the importance of
community. Thus, he advocated a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He enjoyed the idea that everybody was equal, but he still showed resentment towards it. His inner
conflict between these two ideas and his experiences as a member in the Spanish Civil War caused
him to choose a median between the community ideals which he saw and the individual ideals which
he missed: I have seen wonderful things and at last really believe in socialism, which I never did
before (qtd. in Chen).
With the start of World War II, George Orwell began his fight against Nazism, fascism, and
communism. In the eyes of many, communism became interchangeable with socialism, and he
criticized writers of his time that were in support of Stalin and his socialist movement: Why should
writers be attracted by a form of Socialism that makes mental honesty impossible (qtd. in Lewis 76)?
In an attempt to pacify the radical communist movements and change imperialism, he spoke of a third
method to reform the British Empire a middle ground that would create a socialist community in
Britain. John Newsinger wrote, [He had a] call for a new socialist movement that would reject both
Communist style revolution and Labour Party reformism in favour of a third way to socialism, a third
way that he continued to call revolutionary but that was adapted to modern conditions (qtd. in Chen).
Through this, one can see that Orwell wanted to avoid such movements as communism, which
attempted to obtain control over the individual, and yet he had a need to preserve the

Summary Of The Hockey Sweater By Roch Carrier
Roch Carrier s The Hockey Sweater captures Canada s essence and the complexity between linguistic
and national tensions that was felt between the English and French Canadians. The story follows a
young boy living in a small village in Quebec as he navigates his way around hockey season, school,
and church. One day when his favorite hockey sweater has become too small for him and torn, his
mother gives him another that proves to be problematic in the young boy s life.
The story begins with all the village boys gathering to play hockey like their hero, Maurice Richard.
Carrier describes how each boy similarly dresses alike; with the red, white, and blue hockey sweater
like Maurice Richard. Wearing his number 9 of course and slicking their hair back with heavy
amounts of hair glue like Richard. This holds particular importance because Maurice Richard not only
was the best player in all of Canada, but the best French Canadian player. His figure alone represents
all children of French Canadian descent in Quebec. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In every paragraph anything that is considered important to Carrier, is mentioned in a trifecta. For
example, whenever Carrier mentions the Montreal Canadians jersey, it commences with red, white,
and blue. When he mentions that there are three places that they live, it s the school, church, and
skating rink. Religion plays an important role in many Canadiens lives, so the trifecta also represents
the holy trinity within the story. Furthermore, hockey analogies are shown when Carrier mentions
school. He describes it as a place where children are punished. The parents represent the hockey
referees and school the penalty box that they send them

Police Gang Suppression Analysis
The development of gangs in the course of the last two decades has been accompanied by the
development and progression of specialized law enforcement responses to gangs. The nature, features
and scope of police gang control shows the formation of police gang units and theoretical and policy
rationales for police gang units. Police gang units are imaginably the clearest embodiment of the gang
suppression approach (Klein, 1995a: 161). Under the suppression approach, Klein (1995a) argues,
enforcement officials see their primary responsibility as responding to gang street crimes. Suppression
strategy is based on deterrence theory. The purpose of the deterrence is keep a possible offender from

Eassy On Apartheid
The great Nelson Mandela once said When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he
has no choice but to become an outlaw. (Long Walk to Freedom, 1995) Apartheid means separation.
Apartheid destroy lives and apartheid separate blacks and coloured from the rest of the world. P.W.
Botha stated in the mid 1980 s Simple justice suggests that you must allow a black man with his
family to live a healthy, decent life and you must provide work, where possible, for him, and not allow
him to squat on your doorstep... and then, in the name of Christianity, say now that you ve done your
duty towards him? I strongly disagree with this foolish statement stated by P.W. Botha as he actions
were outrageously misguided towards the coloured South Africans, as his alienating and prejudiced
intentions extended segregation under apartheid institution. It can be hypothesised that the Apartheid
institutional racism of South Africa between 1948 to 1994 was designed to neglect coloured society as
inferior that resulted in political corruption, social discrimination and economic distress as for the
intentions of achieving great benefits for the white minority.
Authorised by P.W. Botha, apartheid took control and manipulated the South African political system
in favour of the white minority, illustrating the 40 years of Apartheid where majority of the coloured
population had feared and suffered through the 148 harsh Apartheid policies and legislations. One of
those policies were

There are those goods and practices that cannot be bought according to Sandel even though there is
fairness. For example, there are certain types of happiness cannot be bought such as a loveable family
and true lifelong friends. Love is a natural feeling of affection that cannot have a price to it. Even
though someone can buy friends, the feeling is not the same as the natural affection of love from a true
friend. On the other hand, individuals perceive happiness in different ways. Some individuals view
happiness in form of possessing material wealth and others do not. In conclusion, free market
capitalism has created an opportunity for individuals in society and paved way for people to enjoy a
lot of goods and services produced and sold through the market exchange. However, capitalism has
created many negative consequences since it is mainly concerned with maximizing profits and
minimizing costs. These negatives consequences in most cases eventually outweighed positive
outcomes especially affecting democracy. For instance, equality of all people has been induced

Different Types Of Generators Are Used For Wind Power...
4.4 Types of Wind Generators
Various types of generators that are used for wind power generation are induction generators and
synchronous generators. In this section a brief review of different types of generators including their
advantages and disadvantages are presented.
Generators suitable for Constant speed turbines:
 Squirrel Cage Induction Generator (SCIG) Generators suitable for variable speed turbines:
 Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)
 Permanent Magnet synchronous Generator (PMSG).
4.4.1 Induction Generators
The induction machine is a well established technology, as its application as a wind generator, using a
gear drive to a generator with a low number of poles. In general, because of its small air gap, the
induction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, they may increase the maintenance cost. Another solution to improve the power factor is to
insert a power converter in series with the armature circuit. In this way, full control is obtained over
the induction generator performance, but at the cost of a converter capable of handling the full power
of the generator.
4.4.1.1 Squirrel Cage Induction Generator
A squirrel cage induction generator is an asynchronous machine, with a squirrel cage rotor and stator,
which is directly connected to the grid. The wind turbine rotor will be directly coupled to the generator
through a gearbox, which matches the rotational speed of blades with that of the generator. Essentially
this is a constant speed wind turbine because the power converted from the wind is limited by
designing the turbine rotor in such a way that its efficiency decreases under high wind speeds.
Induction generator is the most common generator in wind energy systems because of its simplicity,
ruggedness, low maintenance and low cost. The main drawback in induction generator is its
consumption of reactive power for producing the real power. The VAR compensation can be done
with the help of fixed capacitance connected near the Induction generator. The fixed capacitance
method of VAR compensation is generally done when the torque applied to the induction generator is
constant. In practice, most wind farms have fixed capacitor banks installed to fulfill

A Separate Peace Vs Dead Poets Society
After reading the novel A Separate Peace and watching the movie Dead Poets Society, many
similarities and differences are brought into view. Some similarities between the two are that in both
stories the boys are affected by a classmate s death, the boys are in secret societies, and the boys
decisions are made because of the influences of outside pressures. The differences between A Separate
Peace and Dead Poets Society are the relations within the stories, the time periods the stories are set

The outside pressures were the main reasons the boys acted out the way they did. An example is in
Dead Poets Society, Neil had wanted to take an easier class at the beginning of the school year, but his
father had rejected the idea. When Neil s father also did this with his want to become an actor, it
resulted in Neil taking his own life. The boys in Dead Poets Society were forced to do whatever their
parents wanted them to do. The pressures in A Separate Peace are different, but they are still pressures
that impact the way these boys act and think. One very important pressure in the novel A Separate
Peace is the war. The war played such a crucial event throughout the story because it was the main
reason they were all fidgety and worried at times, they never wanted to be drafted into the war. Even
though they knew they did not want to be in the war, they would go in a patriotic way if they had to.
This also lead to another problem with outside pressure. Finny was not physically able to be drafted
into any force, whether it be American or not. In the novel A Separate Peace, Finny states on page 190,
They all gave me the same answer after they saw the medical report on me. The answer was no soap.

How Did New York Influence Early American History
From the moment of its first colonization by Peter Stuyvesant as New Netherlands, New York State
showed military promise to both the British and the French. Colonial New York extended from the
Atlantic at New York Harbor all the way north, to the great lakes on the border of the French colonies
of Quebec and Ontario, which made up the combined colony of Canada. Its great size places it
perfectly in between the Southern States and New England. Therefore, whoever controlled New York
controlled the fate of both regions of the original 13 states. New York is utilized for its geographical

Carillon, more commonly known as Fort Ticonderoga, was the most important one. Fort Ticonderoga,

which is a field fortification used as an obstacle made of tree branches laid in a row with the

after six failed attempts, they retreated. This was not the last of the British as they tried again in 1759

successful as French forces, without knowledge of the attack, migrated to defend Quebec against the

The world has many if not endless methods and techniques for demonstrating those specially dear a

Chin The World s Largest Producer Of Coke
Coke Industry China is the world s largest producer of coke, and there is evidence that China has for
the last decade manipulated production and prices. According to the OECD, China s use of export
quotas became more commonplace starting in 2004 and continued for several years. Coke export
allocations of 12 million tons in 2008 were cut to 11.9 million tons in 2009, to 9 million tons in 2010
and to 8.4 million tons in 2011. As China rolled out the export quota over these years, it concurrently
started to introduce export taxes on coke in 2006. The graph below shows China s ad valorem export
tax rates compared to Russia and the rest of the world in 2012. As depicted, China s export tax was
approximately 40%, while Russia s was significantly lower at 5% and the rest of the world almost non
existent.
This export tax essentially raised the price that importers abroad, including the United States, had to
pay at the end, making U.S. buyers of coke less competitive in the global supply chain. The added ad
valorem tax would suppress demand, thereby reducing the price that sellers would receive on the
market. When considering the aftermath of China s loss in the 2013 WTO case, it was forced to
eliminate the export restraint measures on the 9 raw materials, including coke. As a result, a tax free
situation meant that Chinese coke became cheaper again, which would have led to an increased supply
of coke exports to the United States.

A Purpose in Progress
I was first inspired in obtaining a career in communications disorders during my second year of
college. While enrolled in an introductory course, I researched the different options that the discipline
of Communications Disorders has to offer to those affected by communication impairments, and came
across the profession of Speech Pathology. I became fascinated by what the job of a SLP entails.
Never before had I realized what an important job SLPs hold; not only is their job essential in helping
individuals to better communicate with others, but they can also save lives as they help protect the
airway passage of premature babies, and make feeding a safe and positive experience. I admire their
role in society, and can only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through my experiences, I have demonstrated a strong ability to incorporate critical thinking skills
into playful and engaging sessions for my past clients. As a SLP, I will be able to further implement
my problem solving skills, and provide superb and effective strategies to those who suffer from
communication disorders. I intend to help all my clients reach their fullest potential and aim on
guiding them with an invigorating view to improve and further develop, both socially and
academically. Through my solid linguistic background and bilingualism, I can further apply my
thorough understanding of the subareas of language (morphology, phonetics, etc.) into the discipline
of communication disorders. With academic knowledge and first hand experience in conjunction, I
have received a holistic education that has prepared me for entry into the master s program. I know
that my journey will not be easy in the following years, as it has not in the past, and that there will be
many overcoming barriers ahead. However, just as I have never done before, I will not give up! With

Doing Business In Nepal
I decided to do my research for values and beliefs on Nepal, because it gave me an opportunity to
share a positive experience for my pastor unlike the one Bush had with the shoes. When the first
earthquake in Nepal happened we sent a team to Nepal to help, and while they were there they handed
out white scarves. Several months later my church sent our pastor and while there the same scarves
that were handed out previously to the people got returned to our pastor. As he was leaving people
came by and hung the scarves around his neck, he was told that this was the highest respect the people
of Nepal could show. He was also handed a wooden drinking vessel, that had survived the earthquake,
it was 100+ years old and he was told that it was the highest valued ... Show more content on

I can not tell you what an awesome feeling it was to listen to my pastor tell the story of what he
experienced. So when reading about the disrespect of Bush and the shoes it reminded me of what our
pastor experienced. So I decided to search on Nepal business etiquette. According to the article Doing
Business in Nepal), it is a practiced custom when invited to someones home to give a gift (Doing

because it helps get to know the person you are doing business with and help break the barrier of

personal relationships (Culture Crossing). Which in my opinion is a good thing to help you in your

are invited for a meal then the host is expected to pay for it, and they consider it rude if you offer to
pay (Doing Business in Nepal). Now I don t know personally from a

Ancient India s Caste System
Over three thousand years ago ancient India had made up the Caste system. The Caste system was
created so that all people could make spiritual and economic advancements in their lives. For many
people it helped them more of a peaceful life so that their next life would be better than what it was in
the life they were living at that point in time. Many people these days would think that since the caste
system was made over three thousand years ago, that there is no way something like how people were
in different classes would still be around today. That thought is incorrect. Before this essay gets
detailed with the Caste system is still here . It would be best if we had gone over what he Caste system
was and what it contained of. According to the textbook Volume 1: to 1800 World History states that
there were 3 classes. The highest class (which was at the top of the chain) known as the Brahmins
which had consisted of priests. The second class was the Kshatriya which was made up of warriors

Empathy In The Rattler
When in times of danger, people must often take the actions they see best fit. In The Rattler, the author
depicts a vivid story of a man who has to make a difficult choice while facing a rattlesnake in the
desert. Despite the man seeing a threat in the snake, it is him that becomes a threat to the other. By
using the descriptions of the man, the snake and the specific setting, the author affects the reader by
creating a sense of empathy for the narrator and sympathy for the snake. With such a connection, it
adds a greater depth to the story for the reader to analyze.
To begin with, the sense of empathy for the man is formed by including his point of view and a
description of his character. One of the first examples of these techniques is when he finds the snake
and states, My first instinct was to let him go his way. From this thought the reader can tell that the
man has no inclination of killing the snake at first and did not see him as any sort of immediate threat.
With the author s decision to write the passage in the first person perspective of the man it has a
crucial impact of skewing details to reflect off of his perceptions, allowing for a better insight on the
character. Another example that helps the readers empathize with the man is when he reveals his views
on a potential killing by mentioning, I have never killed an animal I was not obliged to kill. Although
all that the man says is that he will only kill an animal if necessary, by choosing to inform the

The Need For Advanced Training and Education Within Unions
Why must education be of top priority in every union? First of all let s take a moment and think back
to when you were an infant. Imagine as an infant you were born with no one to instruct you in your
trial and error learning process. What happens? You have just been set up for failure; and with enough
failures, comes extinction. Ok, now let s bring you back from being an infant and back into the
present. Imagine now you have been a rank and file union member for several years. Your union is
about to hold elections for leadership offices and you decide to run. The votes are counted. You have
been elected business manager of your union. Congratulations! Next week starts the beginning of
contract negotiations and globalization is here. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
45). Unions have to come to the realization by being pro active in regards to training and education;
they will have to develop Eiger (1979) intellectual power resources, such as; the power of access to
information, the power of generating new ideas, the power of critically examining problems and
creatively formulating alternative solutions. We need to make these resources available to workers on
a scale as never attempted before (p. 38) This is where labor educators come in. Unions need to come
to the realization that education programs need to be solid, the main focus, and at the core of every
union in order to keep the unions from extinction. Unions have many subjects that need to be
continuously taught, trained, studied, and critiqued. Some of these are basic unionism, skill training,
safety, organizing, grievance handling, contract negotiations, health care, political action, benefits,
labor law, as well as others. All these should be taken into consideration at the local and international
levels. Top education programs need to be established to keep rank and file members, as well as
leadership abreast of new innovations and technology and maintain a progressive intellectual
competence. Continued success in collective bargaining, public campaigns, litigation, and political
action hinges to a large degree

Social Determinants of Childhood Obesity Essay example
Childhood obesity fast becoming a worldwide epidemic, and according to the Bureau of Statistics
(cited in Browne 2012, p.20), 23 per cent of children are overweight or obese in Australia. Browne
(2012, p.20) suggests that by children being weighed regularly by their doctor, just as they were when
they were babies and toddlers, it will help doctors and parents to closely monitor their weight.
Although obesity is caused by an imbalance of the calories consumed with the output of energy
through metabolism and exercise (O Gorman et al., 2011; Wang, 2008), the reason/s for this imbalance
can arise from several of the 10 social determinants (the social gradient, stress, early life, social
exclusion, work, unemployment, social support, addiction, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It was recommended that infants be breastfed exclusively for at least 6 months as this reduces the risk
for obesity, furthermore, there is evidence that shows that for every month of breastfeeding, the child s
risk of becoming overweight reduces by 4 per cent. In similar studies, it is recommended that
introduction to solid foods be delayed until at least 4 months, however, 6 months is preferred, this
significantly reduces the risk for obesity. The average age of introduction to solid food was 20.49
weeks, which resulted in a healthy BMI at aged 10 years old, and 18.67 weeks resulted in a higher
BMI at aged 10 years old. A good start in early life means supporting mothers and young children: the
health impact of early development and education lasts a lifetime (Wilkinson Marmot 2003, p. 14). It
has been strongly proven that families confined to the poor social gradient, or from low socio
economic status are highly disadvantaged, which is definitely the case when it comes to childhood
obesity. Children who come from a low socio economic status have a greater likelihood of becoming
overweight or obese because their family have restricted access to everyday resources. Children from
low socio economic status are eating high energy dense, high fat foods because their parents cannot
afford to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, or, it is simply not practical, especially to families who do
their shopping monthly, since they are highly

Do You Agree with Conflict Theory
Have you ever noticed a divide in society between the privileged and who s who are not? Such as
someone who is rich versus someone who is poor. This is what we call Conflict theory. How conflict
theory is applied to our everyday lives can be seen through many different ideas brought about by
these conflict theorists. Whether or not I agree or disagree with this theory, will be determined by the
factors and situations that conflict theory has to show. Karl Marx, a philosopher, journalist, and
revolutionary socialist, is considered the father of conflict theory. He pointed out the continuous
competition for power between different classes in society and how the powerful groups exploit those

their influence in the making of social decisions, and their ability to impose values, will also be greater
than those of the lower classes (McShane, Williams 129 130). If you are on the bottom and you don t
like something that is going on with people in power, you could have a revolution or stage a riot.
Anytime you are dealing with the situation where people are fighting over the use of land or who s
going to have what status or privilege, we are then seeing things through the eyes of a conflict theorist.
Money is a big part of this. Being a member of an aristocracy or a powerful group is part of this. So in
addition, we also see minority groups in conflict with the dominant groups. We see exploitation and
domestic violence between men and women and sometimes children. There are numerous perspectives
of conflict theory on the law. Most of the conflict theorists talk about the law as a way of maintain
inequality. That the law is there to advance the interests of people in power, usually people with
money. There are also conflict theories that argue about morality or moral entrepreneurs, people that
use the criminal law to impose their morality on other people despite the fact that it is not widely held
belief and an example would be things like prostitution or other vices that are widely utilized by large
segments of the population, but there are smaller segments

Balancing Family Work Life
I. Introduction A. Thesis Statement Attending school as an adult, and maintaining a source of
employment can be a daunting task, as many adults who had to delay their college education must
know. One of the most challenging aspects of adult life consists of learning how to adjust accordingly
to the rigors of life at home as well as the workplace. Failure to do so can lead to a life of complete
disarray, stress, illness and exhaustion. II. Body Paragraph #1 Topic Sentence #1 Traditionally the
typical age group for freshmen in college was between 18 to 19 years of age. That reality has slowly
changed as more young adults are finding their way back in the classroom, while holding down a job.

We must look at the adverse effects that those long work hours have on the human body. Overworked
individuals can suffer from work related illnesses as a result of excessive stress. Work related stress
can result from extended hours due to mandatory overtime in some case. An employer s rigid work
hours which can prevent employees from tending to occasional issues at home can also be blamed for
stress on the job. Employees suffering the effects of stress in the workplace tend to have bouts of
absenteeism. A. Supporting evidence Absenteeism in the workplace is a major issue, with tangible and
intangible costs. Although the absentee loses wages in the process, the major loss is at the expense of
the employer. The ebrary book by Lynn Tylczak, (Attacking absenteeism 1990), describes the
intangible costs of absenteeism as follows: Absentee costs are difficult to quantify. Experts estimate
direct wage loses of more than $30 billion per year, and that s just the beginning. Employers also need
to consider the costs of supplementary or replacement workers. These costs include: Regular wages,
overtime wages, and company benefits Supplementary benefits, such as Social Security, worker s
compensation, and unemployment compensation Administration of recruitment, selection orientation,
and training Penalty costs resulting from delays. The author (Lynn T. 1990) also gives the following
explanation from the tangible cost of absenteeism: It forces

The Help Ex De Texte Essay
I. SUBJECT The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, is story about the journey of a young woman, Skeeter,
standing up for what she believes in and following her dreams. This story is set in Jackson,
Mississippi during the 1960 s, which is the height of the Civil Rights movement period. The story is
through the viewpoint of three narrators: Skeeter Phalen, Aibileen Clark, and Minny Jackson. Skeeter
is the main narrator out of the three. She is a young white woman returning home after receiving her
journalism degree from Ole Miss. She is reuinited by her friends, Hilly Holbrook and Elizabeth

Because Celia grew up in Sugar Dutch, she does not have the same value influences like Elizabeth and
Hilly might have. Towards the end of Stockett s novel, Aibileen has grown older and is now caring for
two kids in the Leefolt house. Skeeter now tells Aibileen she has gotten a letter to go to New York and
work for Miss Stein. When she goes, someone will need to take over the Miss Murna columns at the
Jackson Journal. Here, Skeeter gives Aibileen the chance to take over for her. She also includes that
she will receive the same amount of pay as she did. To this, Aibileen responds, Me? Working for the
white newspaper? I go to the sofa and open thee notebook, see them letters and articles from past
times. Miss Skeeter set beside me (512) . This is Aibileen basically conquering the issue of racism.
The fact that Miss Skeeter put in such a good word about her that she got the job without an interview
says wonders. In The Help, there was also a minor theme. Skeeter demonstrated a quality most young
women do not obtain, which is sense of self or security. It s until after I mail the letter that I realize I
probably chose those ideas she would think to be impressive rather than the ones I was really
interested in (84) . Skeeter lists a variety of ideas that she would write about and mails it to Miss Stein,
part of Harper Row Publishing Company. Skeeter realized after mailing her

Compare And Contrast The Crucible And The Red Scare
The Crucible a play about how choices can impact or kill someones life so strongly with The Red
Scare having the exact same concept. Miller s Crucible was written during the red scare to tell
Americans to wake up and show how history really can repeat itself. In The Crucible Abigail and
some young girls from 1692 go dancing in the woods and cook some food in a pot when Parris the
head of town and Abigail s uncle find them doing this. He calls witchcraft and the blame games begin.
This is parallel to the Red Scare when people in the 1950 s were being accused of communism. The
conflict in the Crucible is parallel to the Red Scare because of the blame game, hysteria and, . An
event in The Crucible that is relatable to the Red Scare is the blame game that is played throughout
both. Tituba a slave of Parris is accused by Abigail of witchcraft and is finding any means necessary to
save her life. While being beaten and whipped states: TITUBA. Oh, bless the Lord HALE. When the
devil comes to you does he ever come with another person? (She stares into his face) Perhaps another
person in the village? Someone you know. PARRIS. Who came with him? PUTNAM. Sarah Good?
Did you ever see Sarah good with him? Or Osburn? PARRIS. Was it man or woman came with him?
TITUBA. Man or woman.. Was was woman PARRIS. What woman? A woman, you said. What
woman? TITUBA. It was black dark, and I PARRIS. You could see him, why could you not see her?
TITUBA. Well, they was always talking; they was always runnin round and carryin on. This shows the
only way to be safe in that time and not die or be jailed was to admit you were a witch even if you
weren t, ask God for forgiveness and blame someone else and this was exactly the same for the Red
Scare. Also, after the all the girls wanted forgiveness they would name people they saw in the devil s
book. This is what Betty and Abigail say to Hale and the rest of the people in the room after begging
for forgiveness: ABIGAIL. I saw Goody Hawkins with the devil! BETTY. I saw Goody Bibber with
the devil! ABIGAIL. I saw Goody Booth with the devil! In The Crucible if these girls didn t like
someone they blamed witchcraft and those people were either hung/jailed or keep the trend going by

Mr Smith Goes to Washington Movie Questions
Mr. Smith goes to Washington movie questions 1. This film is saying the American democracy can be
easily corrupted. The film portrays that it takes strong, determined men with much integrity to stand
up for what they know is right. 2. In today s world there would be some mixed reactions to a senator
like Jefferson Smith. Some people would disapprove of him because he is not the characteristic
senator and has no political experience. They would think that he was young, and inexperienced, and
that he did not deserve to be in such a highly respected position. Other people would love that he was

She knows that other people have much control over the government and is quite cynical. Mr. Smith is
a pure, truthful man who loves and trusts his government. He wants to do what is right for the people
and wants to make his country proud. However, by the end of the movie these attitudes change. By the
end the events that occur open Mr. Smith s eyes to how the government really operates. He sees how
this one powerful man can control his whole state and turn them all against him. He may still be the
same good man he was before but he has had a look inside of how the government operates and may
not be as trusting as he once was. Saunders has been filled with hope by the change that one senator
could make. His struggle and challenge motivates her and she becomes much happier than she ever
was before as she sees how all of her hard work has paid off and that she really has made a difference.
10. I do not believe that the statement Government positions are sold to the highest bidder is
completely true. It is obviously the case in some instances as we have seen in the movie, but we also
see how a great man like Jefferson Smith can get into office as well. The people elect senate seats, and
while funds can get you a long way, in the end it is still up to the people to elect a person into office. I
would not like to think that all of our government is as corrupt as some of the people in this

Case Study Of Taneja s Saras Aircraft Supply Chain improving their strategic position within Taneja s Saras aircraft supply chain, namely through reducing costs both by considerable changes in organization and management and by establishing their own subcontractors network, onto which they shift a share of the cost increase. This aspect clearly shows that the adoption of an MRP system at Taneja s Saras aircraft has two implications on the supply chain: It imposes more stress in the supply chain. Subcontractors have to both reduce costs and meet Taneja s new requirements; it is actually supportive of relations between customers and subcontractors. Through changes in Material requirement planning professional skills and information, subcontractors establish a strengthened relationship with the customer. • 3. War Heroes Voices from Iraq For my book report, I read the book War Heroes Voices from Iraq by Allan Zullo. The author interviewed ten soldiers about the time they spent in Iraq. The book tells ten different real life stories of soldiers and what amazing things they did in Iraq. The one thing all of these soldiers have in common is that they thought they were just doing their jobs. These soldiers are true heroes because each of them risked their own lives to save others and to protect our country. Even though a lot of soldiers would do that, not all survive to tell about it. The book tells ten different stories about very special heroes. I would like to tell you about my three favorite stories. The first of my favorite stories is Greater Love Hath ... Marco was sent to the North of Bagdad to a small village called al Tarmiyah to do recon. Marco and his battalion ran into the enemy. The marines were ambushed so his squad got out and ran 200 yards of terrain under enemy fire. Marco s squad leader got hit by a piece of shrapnel and could not go on. Marco was next in line to be the leader. Next, Marco and his squad went into one of the houses to kill the insurgents. They cleared the house. Behind that house was a guesthouse. There were five terrorists in the guesthouse. There were a few palm trees too. Marco ran behind one of the palm trees for cover. The other marines of his squad were behind a narrow wall. Marco found a RPG on his way running for cover behind the palm tree. He picked it up and tried to fire it at the enemy, but the RPG didn t work. Marco then figured out the RPG had a dual trigger system. He figured it out, and fired it. Marco killed the insurgents and earned the Navy Cross. I liked this story because Marco s life was screwed up before joining the military. When he wanted to join the military, Marco started working hard at school and gave up getting in trouble. In the end, Marco earned a medal! Finally, my last favorite story is called Ambushed! The story is about Corporal Jeremiah Workman. Jeremiah was a marine involved in ... Brazos Independent School District (BISD) includes a curriculum on abstinence, but further explanation on safe sex practices is not included. After working with high school teachers in the school district, we discovered that the sexual education curriculum severely lacks in structure. The current curriculum focuses primarily on abstinence, but Be Safe, Not Sorry believes healthy sexual behaviors must be taught. Through the education of the staff and resources, Be Safe, Not Sorry created an after school program to teach sexual education intended to increase the knowledge of teenagers on safe sex practices. The annual budget for Be Safe, Not Sorry is about $30,000, but the cost of the program is estimated to be between $35,000 and $40,000. • 6. Data Analysis Processing And Analysis Data Analysis Processing and Analysis To test the hypothesis that national board certification (primary independent variable) has an effect on reading scores and reading levels (dependent variable); an ordinal regression analysis was applied using R for statistical analysis and coding of data. The ordinal regression was used to rank the predictor variables; A. Certification and Years of Experience, B. Advance degree and Years of Experience, and C. Certification and Advance Degree. In addition, reading levels were ranked from the lowest reading text level to the highest text level. The reading scores were collected from national board certified and non national board certified teachers. The data collected included the beginning of year and end of year reading scores. The dependent variable reading score is likely dependent on more than just board certification. Predictor variables, including advanced degrees and years of service included in the regression to give a more robust picture of the actual effect of board certification has on reading scores (McClendon, 1994). The researcher displayed data results of advanced degree and national board effects in a 2x2 contingency table. The table analysis was utilized to reveal the independence and dependence between the variables. The dispersion of the data occurred in the final stage of the analysis known as the inferential statistical phase. At this point the researcher determined whether a significant correlation exists ... • 7. Jungian Psychological Profiles in Glenngarry Glen Ross Essay Glengarry Glen Ross: A Jungian Perspective David Mamet wrote the play Glengarry Glen Ross as a look into the world of sales. As with most of his work, capitalism and its effect on the actors is a major theme. Stories as they are written have characters that have different roles based on their personalities and behaviors. This assignment of roles is something that has spanned the history of literary works. Carl Jung, Swiss psychiatrist and the founder of analytical psychology explained these roles people assume and their meaning. The term he used to refer to these character descriptions is called archetypes. All of the characters in the play have problems. Most of these are based in personality flaws and a lack of moral character. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Jung 287) Levene acts in a manner while on the in the office with a co workers client that is a full flight from reality. He acts like he is a vice president of American Express and travels the world. This is a ruse he jumps into with no preparation and pulls it off beautifully. This mask he uses whether to deceive his clients, himself, or others, is his persona. It is dishonest from its onset. This core dishonesty is how the shadow archetype is manifesting in his psyche. Just like the vicious cycle with the leads here we see the cycle of his dishonesty in every aspect of his work life being transmitted into the shadow archetype, his subconscious now makes instinctual decisions from a negative jumping off place. The more he participates in this pattern the deeper the pathology sets in him. To round out this character we can apply the scapegoat archetype. It has been considered the heart and soul of many countries and empires and has been the center of many cultures. Throughout history we have seen many military leaders and military powers. We have seen military techniques and technology change as we progress. Our schools are filled with legends of great war heroes and hard fought battles. Urban guerillas have to rely heavily on support from the citizens. Guerilla warfare basically relies on one standard. The element of surprise. Often, guerillas will not be in uniform and carry just a concealed weapon. By doing this it helps the guerillas startle the enemy and catch them off guard, giving them the clear cut advantage. Also, the enemy is always in a state of fear, never knowing when or where these guerillas could pop out and attack. They are constantly on watch and they tire easily. By using guerilla warfare, forces are able to lower they re casualties while increasing their opponents, even if they are winning cheap. Because they often time use cowardly tactics, guerillas are usually considered terrorists by their opponents. Sometimes however, this can be true. Guerillas in some cases have used propaganda, or started revolts to win over their cause. Instead of trying to defeat their enemy, they try to create chaos, hoping to drive their enemy out. Massive riots and sabotage are not at all uncommon in guerilla wars. All in all, guerilla warfare is the use of unconventional war tactics used against enemies that follow these conventional laws. Now that we have cleared that up, lets move to the actual events that took place. Spanish resistance was mainly part of the Peninsular War, or as some call it, Napoleon s ... • 9. Compare And Contrast Odysseus And Robin Hood Throughout history, no matter the number of times heroes change, the foundation of what makes a hero stays the same. In order to stay relevant to the times, Modern heroes, such as Robin Hood, can appear very different from classical heroes, like Odysseus, but they will always be very skillful with a weapon yet suffer from hubris. Therefore, Homer s The Odyssey, the 13th century Rifson ballad, and Pyle s The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood depict that Odysseus and Robin Hood are similar in the skill of archery to outwit each of their respective enemies and hubris, a flaw which directly aligns with glory. Odysseus and Robin Hood are similar in many ways. For example, they are both skillful in archery. When Odysseus finally reveals himself to the suitors, he proves his identity by effortlessly stringing his bow. When he releases, the arrow shoots from the bow clean as a whistle through every socket of the axes (Homer XXI. 481 482). The suitors are impressed with his ability to perfectly string the bow and shoot it, a task many of them fail to complete. Odysseus disguise of the old man allows him to use the element of surprise, dumbfounding the suitors, with his ability to shoot the great bow. Odysseus then slaughters the suitors who have been drinking all his wine, eating his food, and pursuing his wife. Similarly, Robin Hood uses his advanced skills in archery to win the hand of the princess and beat his enemy, the sheriff. When the sheriff holds an archery match in order ... It is a frightening word, generally applied to a society organized to crush and dehumanize the individual, sometimes signifying the alienation of that individual if he dares to rebel (Lewis 13). George Orwell, the pseudonym for Eric Arthur Blair, depicted the importance of the individual in society and the danger of too much community in his literature. His inner conflict between these two ideas and his experiences as a member in the Spanish Civil War caused him to choose a median between the community ideals which he saw and the individual ideals which he missed: I have seen wonderful things and at last really believe in socialism, which I never did before (qtd. in Chen). With the start of World War II, George Orwell began his fight against Nazism, fascism, and communism. In the eyes of many, communism became interchangeable with socialism, and he criticized writers of his time that were in support of Stalin and his socialist movement: Why should writers be attracted by a form of Socialism that makes mental honesty impossible (qtd. in Lewis 76)? In an attempt to pacify the radical communist movements and change imperialism, he spoke of a third method to reform the British Empire a middle ground that would create a socialist community in Britain. John Newsinger wrote, [He had a] call for a new socialist movement that would reject both Communist style revolution and Labour Party reformism in favour of a third way to socialism, a third way that he continued to call revolutionary but that was adapted to modern conditions (qtd. in Chen). • 11. Summary Of The Hockey Sweater By Roch Carrier Roch Carrier s The Hockey Sweater captures Canada s essence and the complexity between linguistic and national tensions that was felt between the English and French Canadians. The story follows a young boy living in a small village in Quebec as he navigates his way around hockey season, school, and church. One day when his favorite hockey sweater has become too small for him and torn, his mother gives him another that proves to be problematic in the young boy s life. The story begins with all the village boys gathering to play hockey like their hero, Maurice Richard. Carrier describes how each boy similarly dresses alike; with the red, white, and blue hockey sweater like Maurice Richard. Wearing his number 9 of course and slicking their hair back with heavy amounts of hair glue like Richard. This holds particular importance because Maurice Richard not only was the best player in all of Canada, but the best French Canadian player. Police gang units are imaginably the clearest embodiment of the gang suppression approach (Klein, 1995a: 161). • 15. Eassy On Apartheid The great Nelson Mandela once said When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw. (Long Walk to Freedom, 1995) Apartheid means separation. Apartheid destroy lives and apartheid separate blacks and coloured from the rest of the world. P.W. Botha stated in the mid 1980 s Simple justice suggests that you must allow a black man with his family to live a healthy, decent life and you must provide work, where possible, for him, and not allow him to squat on your doorstep... and then, in the name of Christianity, say now that you ve done your duty towards him? I strongly disagree with this foolish statement stated by P.W. Botha as he actions were outrageously misguided towards the coloured South Africans, as his alienating and prejudiced intentions extended segregation under apartheid institution. It can be hypothesised that the Apartheid institutional racism of South Africa between 1948 to 1994 was designed to neglect coloured society as inferior that resulted in political corruption, social discrimination and economic distress as for the intentions of achieving great benefits for the white minority. Authorised by P.W. Botha, apartheid took control and manipulated the South African political system in favour of the white minority, illustrating the 40 years of Apartheid where majority of the coloured population had feared and suffered through the 148 harsh Apartheid policies and legislations. Even though someone can buy friends, the feeling is not the same as the natural affection of love from a true friend. On the other hand, individuals perceive happiness in different ways. Some individuals view happiness in form of possessing material wealth and others do not. In conclusion, free market capitalism has created an opportunity for individuals in society and paved way for people to enjoy a lot of goods and services produced and sold through the market exchange. In general, because of its small air gap, the induction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, they may increase the maintenance cost. Another solution to improve the power factor is to insert a power converter in series with the armature circuit. In this way, full control is obtained over the induction generator performance, but at the cost of a converter capable of handling the full power of the generator. 4.4.1.1 Squirrel Cage Induction Generator A squirrel cage induction generator is an asynchronous machine, with a squirrel cage rotor and stator, which is directly connected to the grid. The wind turbine rotor will be directly coupled to the generator through a gearbox, which matches the rotational speed of blades with that of the generator. Essentially this is a constant speed wind turbine because the power converted from the wind is limited by designing the turbine rotor in such a way that its efficiency decreases under high wind speeds. Induction generator is the most common generator in wind energy systems because of its simplicity, ruggedness, low maintenance and low cost. The main drawback in induction generator is its consumption of reactive power for producing the real power. The VAR compensation can be done with the help of fixed capacitance connected near the Induction generator. The fixed capacitance method of VAR compensation is generally done when the torque applied to the induction generator is constant. In practice, most wind farms have fixed capacitor banks installed to fulfill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The differences between A Separate Peace and Dead Poets Society are the relations within the stories, the time periods the stories are set in, and the situations the boys are put in throughout the story. The pressures in A Separate Peace are different, but they are still pressures that impact the way these boys act and think. One very important pressure in the novel A Separate Peace is the war. The war played such a crucial event throughout the story because it was the main reason they were all fidgety and worried at times, they never wanted to be drafted into the war. Even though they knew they did not want to be in the war, they would go in a patriotic way if they had to. This also lead to another problem with outside pressure. How Did New York Influence Early American History From the moment of its first colonization by Peter Stuyvesant as New Netherlands, New York State showed military promise to both the British and the French. Major General James Abercromby commanded the assault on Fort Ticonderoga in the July of 1758. Fort Ticonderoga was defended by the Marquis de Montcalm and his thirty five hundred French and Native American troops while Abercrombie led fifteen thousand British troops (Gilchrist). They were initially unable to overcome a French abattis, which is a field fortification used as an obstacle made of tree branches laid in a row with the sharpened tops pointed towards the enemy. This along with trenches, greatly hindered the British and after six failed attempts, they retreated. This was not the last of the British as they tried again in 1759 under the command of Sir Jeffery Amherst. Chin The World s Largest Producer Of Coke Coke Industry China is the world s largest producer of coke, and there is evidence that China has for the last decade manipulated production and prices. According to the OECD, China s use of export quotas became more commonplace starting in 2004 and continued for several years. Coke export allocations of 12 million tons in 2008 were cut to 11.9 million tons in 2009, to 9 million tons in 2010 and to 8.4 million tons in 2011. As China rolled out the export quota over these years, it concurrently started to introduce export taxes on coke in 2006. The graph below shows China s ad valorem export tax rates compared to Russia and the rest of the world in 2012. As depicted, China s export tax was approximately 40%, while Russia s was significantly lower at 5% and the rest of the world almost non existent. This export tax essentially raised the price that importers abroad, including the United States, had to pay at the end, making U.S. buyers of coke less competitive in the global supply chain. The added ad valorem tax would suppress demand, thereby reducing the price that sellers would receive on the market. When considering the aftermath of China s loss in the 2013 WTO case, it was forced to eliminate the export restraint measures on the 9 raw materials, including coke. As a result, a tax free situation meant that Chinese coke became cheaper again, which would have led to an increased supply of coke exports to the United States. In The Rattler, the author depicts a vivid story of a man who has to make a difficult choice while facing a rattlesnake in the desert. Despite the man seeing a threat in the snake, it is him that becomes a threat to the other. By using the descriptions of the man, the snake and the specific setting, the author affects the reader by creating a sense of empathy for the narrator and sympathy for the snake. With such a connection, it adds a greater depth to the story for the reader to analyze. To begin with, the sense of empathy for the man is formed by including his point of view and a description of his character. One of the first examples of these techniques is when he finds the snake and states, My first instinct was to let him go his way. From this thought the reader can tell that the man has no inclination of killing the snake at first and did not see him as any sort of immediate threat. With the author s decision to write the passage in the first person perspective of the man it has a crucial impact of skewing details to reflect off of his perceptions, allowing for a better insight on the character. Another example that helps the readers empathize with the man is when he reveals his views on a potential killing by mentioning, I have never killed an animal I was not obliged to kill. The average age of introduction to solid food was 20.49 weeks, which resulted in a healthy BMI at aged 10 years old, and 18.67 weeks resulted in a higher BMI at aged 10 years old. Miller s Crucible was written during the red scare to tell Americans to wake up and show how history really can repeat itself. In The Crucible Abigail and some young girls from 1692 go dancing in the woods and cook some food in a pot when Parris the head of town and Abigail s uncle find them doing this.
