The Flight Attendant Training Program
Charles Lindbergh flew the first American Airlines flight on April 15, 1926 carrying U.S. mail from
St. Louis, Missouri to Chicago, Illinois (American Airlines). American Airlines flew United States
mail routes for about eight years until C.R. Smith and Donald Douglas created the DC 3 plane that
would change the airline industry. The DC 3 flew in service from New York to Chicago (American
Airlines). Over the years the company began to grow what it is today. American Airlines grew from
engineering the DC 3 to the DC 7 and eventually created new flight planes that would be able to take
passengers all over the United States and eventually overseas. American Airlines was the first airline
to create a specialized flight attendant training program (American Airlines). The airline knew the
importance of keeping its passengers comfortable during their flight. Finally, on October 16, 2015
U.S. Airways flew its last flight and on October 17, 2015 U.S. Airways and American Airlines began
to operate under one company. The key issues that are behind the American Airlines and U.S. Airways
merger is that when it all comes down to it is that once these two companies are combines they will be
better able to offer its customers better options according to Thomas C. Lawton (2013). However,
since two companies are becoming one the critics will argue that there will be less competition in the
airline industry especially since there seem only to be four major airlines now, Delta, American

Oklahoma City Bombing Rhetorical Analysis Bill Clinton Essay
Oklahoma City Bombing Rhetorical Analysis The Oklahoma City Bombing would be considered the
worst terrorist attack on America prior to the 9/11 World Trade Center attack. Just outside of the
Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, on April 19th, 1995 a truck exploded, killing 168 people. 19 of
those 168 being children. The explosion caused damage to 300 surrounding buildings. Oklahoma City
was going through a tragedy and needed guidance from a leader.
Who would be a better option to comfort the families and friends of the lost victim, than the current
president of America, Bill Clinton, who had once resided in Oklahoma himself? Oklahoma City
needed someone to soothe their pain and give them back their lost hope. Clinton uses rhetorical ...

Today our nation joins with you in grief. We mourn with you. We share your hope against hope that
some may still survive. In this statement, he is using a pathos appeal to make his audience feel one
with their nation by their shared emotions of remorse and sadness, Oklahoma is not the only state that
is grieving. America has lost many sons and daughters. By using the words grief and mourn Clinton
shows how tragic and emotional the current event is and shows that he can interpret and understand
exactly what his audience is going through. Clinton reminds them that he will be there for them for
every step of the difficult process.
Another way Clinton uses pathos is when he tries to comfort the people who have lost loved ones by
saying, You have lost too much, but you have not lost everything. Clinton lets the audience know that
they have people that will help them through this hard time and they have the nation behind them: You
have certainly not lost America, for we will stand with you for as many tomorrows as it takes. Clinton
ultimately reaches his goal of comforting his audience by using ethos and pathos strategies throughout
his speech. Clinton s next move was to give advice from someone who had been in a similar situation.
Referring to the letters he received after the bombing, Clinton explains that one letter in particular
stood out. Clinton gives words of wisdom from a widowed

How To Write An Essay About Kendrick Lamar
Concert Review: Kendrick Lamar To begin I d like to mention that I love Kendrick Lamar; to me he is
a lyrical genius especially in an era where rap has changed to an even more violent tone. Most people
could all agree that he is the most stimulating and uplifting rapper for this current generation. Hip hop
seemed to need Kendrick Lamar and as we can tell his positive influence is spreading across the
nation as he recently won a Grammy topping even more known rappers such as drake. In this day and
age most successful rappers make a living and fan base off of negative and criminal action. Despite
that Kendrick Lamar tries to spread positivity in his music and motivation for people who aren t living

Songs such as this one from his breakthrough album good kid m.a.a.d city were so well known to his
fans that one point he even started picking from the crowd up the stage to sing along with him.
Harmony was created between Kendrick and the crowd immediately and we could enjoy the special
moment. To slow down a bit the fans were then exploited to tracks with much deeper tones and
textures. With a track such as The blacker the berry the crowd couldn t help but to just appreciate the
hard work the performer was putting into this piece. Just by Kendrick Lamar s face we could tell the
amount of meaning and emotion this track hold within him. To show our appreciation it seemed like
everyone in the crowd read each other s minds as we all raised our hands and waved them
acknowledging the young rappers motivation. To show his appreciation Kendrick Lamar even went on
to mention how the city of Houston had showed him much love over the years and truly appreciated
the support he had received in order to earn the position that he is in today. This immediately gave off
the feeling of being united and trying to understand another man s struggle. To close out the show in
fashion we were repaid with tracks such as ADHD a throwback for

Kants Fundamental Principles Of The Metaphysics Of Moral...
Kant s Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Moral
The central concept of Kant s Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of
Morals is the categorical imperative. The conception of an objective principle, in so far as it is
obligatory for a will, is called a command (of reason), and the formula of the command is called an
Imperative. (Abbott, 30) An imperative is something that a will ought or shall do because the will is
obligated to act in the manner in which it conforms with moral law. The categorical imperative is an
obligation by the will to act so that the action can be classified as a universal law. When one acts in
conformity with the universal law at all times, they are following out the categorical imperative. This

Kant uses four examples to better describe the working of the categorical imperative in Fundamental
Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals. The first example is of a man who is suffering from many
misfortunes in life and wishes to commit sucicide on the basis of self love. Kant declares that this
cannot be the categorical imperative at work because the maxim derived from self love, to shorten his
life to avoid more pain, is a contradiction in itself for no man can kill himself painlessly and therefore
cannot be a universal maxim. The action of killing oneself would cause pain, which is not in
conformity to the maxim stated to avoid pain. The second example Kant gives is based on the basic
premise of lying. A man is forced to borrow money which he knows he will never be able to repay but
he promises to do so anyway. This action is not consistent with duty and the maxim could be
expressed as: When I [the man] think myself in want of money, I will borrow money and promise to
repay it, although I know that
I never can do so. (Abbott, 39) The maxim cannot hold as a universal law because if everyone lied
about promises, the promise itself would become impossible, and the end would be unattainable.
Telling the truth is an end in itself. The third example is of a man who it bestowed a natural ability but
does not use it to it s full

A Brief Note On Diabetes Prevalence Rate And Socioeconomic...
Diabetes is a major health problem in the United States. There is an increasing interest in the
relationship between diabetes and sociodemographic and lifestyle factors but the extent of the
geographical variability of diabetes with respect to these variables still remains unclear. The regression
models commonly used for disease modeling either use Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression by
assuming all the explanatory variables have the same effect over geographical locations or
Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) that assumes the effect of all the explanatory variables
vary over the geographical space. In reality, the effect of some of the variables may be fixed (global)
and other variables vary spatially (local). For this type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diabetes is associated with obesity, physical inactivity, race and other socioeconomic covariates (Hipp
Chalise, 2015). There is a steady increase in type 2 diabetes prevalence especially in adolescents and
African Americans (Arslanian, 2000; Arslanian, Bacha, Saad, Gungor, 2005; Harris, 2001).
Studies of the correlates of diabetes ignore the spatial non stationarity by either fitting OLS method or
using all the variables as nonstationary by fitting GWR model. A number of studies (Chen, Wu, Yang,
Su, 2010; Dijkstra et al., 2013; Hipp Chalise, 2015; Siordia, Saenz, Tom, 2012) used GWR model to
study the association between diabetes and other covariates.
GWR is one of the localized regression techniques which accounts for spatial heterogeneity or spatial
non stationarity (Benson, Chamberlin, Rhinehart, 2005; C. Brunsdon, Fotheringham, Charlton, 1996;
Fotheringham, Brunsdon, Charlton, 2003; Lu, Harris, Charlton, Brunsdon, 2015). As an exploratory
tool, GWR is useful in wide varieties of research fields including but not limited to health and disease

Naturalism And Evolution
Popularizing the claim that naturalism and evolution are mutual self defeaters, Alvin Plantinga argues,
in Evolutionary Argument Against Naturalism (1993), that given unguided evolution, our beliefs have
no intrinsic relation to the truth.
Drawing on previous arguments made by C.C Lewis and Arthur Balfour, Plantinga claims that if
humans are the product of undirected processes, then we cannot reasonably rely on our cognitive
faculties. In fact, it s just as likely, ... that we live in a sort of dream world as that we actually know
something about ourselves and our world.
Thus, if we cannot rely on our beliefs, then we cannot rely on our belief in naturalism and, ahem,
evolution. And therefore naturalism is defeated.
Well, if true, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, inserting a supernatural element (God) as a key fact is a circular argument. Viz. if God exists,
naturalism is not true, so there s no use invoking God as evidence that naturalism is untrue. (Prove
God exists first!).
Further, the Philosopher William Ramsay has observed how human faculties are, in fact, slightly
unreliable look at our impressive array of cognitive biases and further posits that evolution and
naturalism explain this better than theism. In fact, the well established foibles in our thinking pose a
considerable challenge to Plantinga s suggestion that we are the perfect perceivers of truth one would
expect as the product of an omnipotent Creator.
Plantinga s argument trades upon the philosophical knowledge problem: the difficulty in providing a
neat solution to the foundation of knowledge: how do we know we can rely on our beliefs? But this
philosophical problem is not specific to either evolution of naturalism: the challenge pertains to all of
our beliefs.
In fact, our evolution by natural selection justifies a moderate level of trust in our cognitive faculties.
The brain size of human species has increased from 400cc to 1350cc over several millions of years. In
this time archaic humans developed more sophisticated stone tools, harnessed fire, developed
language, and began to use symbolic thought. Natural selection seems to have been effective in

Weight Watchers Buying Preferences
Consumers buying preferences are constantly changing and have a significant influence over how
companies like Weight Watchers address this fluidity. Weight Watchers target market is quite broad,
women aged 30 to 45, so needs to consider two key factors:
1. Consumer behaviour, purchasers of personal and household products.
2. Any or all the four segmentation variables:
Demographic factors such as age, gender, income, education and ethnicity
Geographic factors such as national boundaries, regional districts and suburban postcodes
Psychographic factors such as lifestyle, personality and motive, and
Behavioural factors such as volume usage, brand loyalty and benefit expectations (Pride, 2015).
These factors will ultimately influence a consumer s buying decision and allow organisations to create
differentiation strategies. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Potential customers are also being influenced by free or inexpensive diet plans that are popular on
Instagram and Pinterest. These social media platforms are having a considerable impact on the way
women approach dieting, how they engage with their chosen product and share results (Schlossberg,

Comparing Aristotle s 8
Now the question is what values should one have to rule, what makes them qualified compared to
others. Plato outlines the different aspects of government and why he believes an aristocracy would be
better form of government. In book 8 Socrates starts to wrap up his depiction of a just city. He starts to
break down the four unjust constitutions of the city and man. Timocracy, which is represented by the
honor driven man who resembles and rules that sort of government. There is an oligarchy, ruled by a
man driven by his necessary appetites. Democracy, in which the man is controlled by unnecessary
appetites. And finally there is tyranny, which the man is driven by unlawful appetites. Socrates

In book 9 Plato discusses the aspects of the tyrannical man. He mentions that the tyrants are someone
who is consumed by lawless desires. One question I have is the tyrannical man destined to be a tyrant
because he has a noble democratic father? These desires lead men towards ghastly, shameless,
criminal actions that are particularly bad for someone in an position of power. Socrates offers an
example of a lawless desire is the desire to sleep with one s mother, something that is horrible to do in
any society. It is made clear that all of us have lawless desires, which is indubitably true. The proof is
that these desires occasionally come out at night, in our dreams, when the rational part of us is not on
guard. But only the tyrannical man allows these desires to emerge in life while he is awake during the
day. Plato s description continues, the tyrannical man is the son of the democratic man. His father is
not lawless, but he does indulge unnecessary desires. Just like the father, the son is exposed to drones,
men with lawless desires. However the father had his own oligarchic father s thriftiness to pull him
toward the middle road of democracy. This is crucial for the balance one must have to be a ruler in
society. Now this son brought up on the democratic ethos, moves further toward lawlessness. The
father and entire household try to win him back, but the ultimate triumph of the lawless is inevitable.

Joanne Rowling. Joanne Rowling is a british author best known for writing the Harry Potter series
under the pen name J.K Rowling. Rowling was born on July 31st, 1965 in Yate, United Kingdom

To my immense frustration, I didn t have a pen that worked, and I was too shy to ask anybody if I
could borrow one. At first, Rowling wrote Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone in private. She
hadn t told anyone her project, and only a few people knew that she was writing anything of
importance. In December 1990, before Rowling had told her mother anything, Anne died after
suffering from multiple sclerosis for ten years. Her death affected Rowling greatly, and impacted her
writing. Due to the death, Rowling could go much more into depth of the killing of Harry s parents,
and how he felt, all because she felt it too.
Rowling moved away from her family so she could live in Portugal, where she met Jorge Arantes, a
Portuguese journalist. In October 1992, Rowling married Jorge, and their daughter, Jessica Isabel, was
born in Portugal on the 27th of July, 1993. A couple of months later the couple separated (eventually
divorced in 1994); many say that Rowling had been abused during the marriage, but the truth has been
kept quiet. The following month, Rowling and her daughter moved to Scotland, near her sister.
Being jobless, divorced, and raising a child by herself, Rowling was not happy with her life. She fell
into depression, which led to the creation of dementors in the third installment of Harry Potter; black,
hooded, soul sucking beings that will drain you of all happiness.

The Physiology, Metabolism, Biochemistry
Toxoplasma gondii, Joan Ng Kiat Yee: BM304 revision guide 2015
The physiology, metabolism, biochemistry
Toxoplsama gondii is an intracellular apicomplexan parasite that forms cyst coccidian in warm
blooded animals, primarily in the Felida domestic cats (Shannon et al., 2015). The organism also
causes a wide range of diseases in different intermediate hosts, ranging from animals, such as
mammals and birds to human (Astrid et al., 2000). In human, this parasite poses serious threat by
causing a disease called Toxoplasmosis (Parasites, 2015).
The parasite exits through the faeces of cats. Within the cat s intestinal epithelium, T. gondii parasite
undergoes gametogenesis and mating. This leads to the generation of oocysts containing sporozoites
that are the shed in the cat s faeces, which could readily infect new host cells (Joanne et al., 2013).

The Importance Of Air Traffic Control In Aviation
Technology and computers are all positive innovations but to operate those machines and equipment
humans are needed. Human factor is the most important factor in an Aviation field. On one single
airport thousands of employee work and humans on ground operates all the equipments.
To identify a useful set of Air Traffic Control complexity factors a research has been conducted and it
s on ground services that are important for the air traffic effectiveness. This topic fits in my field of
study as I worked in Aviation field and currently pursuing a master s in MBAAviation degree. On the
one hand It is necessary to determine, how a different factor on ground related to controller workload
and ATC complexity interacts on the other hand with, air traffic effectiveness. This research should
lead to conclusion of guidelines to improve ATC sector and traffic flow as well as to produce a better
and safe transportation.
Aviation itself is a vast world and is growing day by day with the increasing number of airlines,
airports, aircrafts and the population around the world. There are numbers of passengers who travel
for their own purpose and these passengers demand a safe and on time journey. This safe and on time
journey can only be accomplished with air traffic effectiveness and by ensuring all the services
provided to make this effectiveness stable and better day by day.

Volcanoes and Volcanology Essay
Volcanoes can be one of the most destructive forces on Earth. It is estimated that some
500 million people live near active volcanoes (Lutgens and Tarbuck, 2013). Of the Earth s known
volcanoes, 70 can be expected to erupt each year with at least one large eruption each decade (Lutgens
Tarbuck, 2013). As populations continue to increase and more people are attracted to the beauty
surrounding these areas, the immediate threat to humans from these sometimes sleeping giants grows.
Due to this, the study of volcanoes and the service that volcanologists provide to the public by way of
information and predictions on activity is immeasurable. Named for the Roman god Vulcan, volcanoes

There are four major types of study that make up a volcanologist or team of volcanologist. These
include physical volcanologists, geophysicists, geodesic volcanologists and geochemists (What does a
volcanologist do?, n.d.). Physical volcanologists study the actual processes that make up a volcanic
eruption.
They also study the deposits made from the eruption. Where the rocks from the eruption were
distributed and what their makeup are. A geochemist can also determine the chemical makeup of these
deposits. By studying deposits and lava flows from past eruptions, it can assist in the prediction of
where the lava will flow, how far the debris field will be and how far the ash will scatter in new
eruptions. As retired volcanologist Robert Tilling so aptly described it, the present is the key to the
past In a sense, we re detectives, trying to decipher clues that rocks tell us. (What does a volcanologist

While a physical volcanologist and geochemist can study the results of a volcanic eruption, without
knowing the inner workings of a volcano, where the magma chambers are located and which direction
they go, it is sometimes difficult to know whether or not an eruption will take place at all (Poland,
Hamburger, Newman, 2006). Geophysicists study the Earth and their research regarding

Silver Bullion Bars Research Paper
Electricity is required to make colloidal silver that is pure, because other methods require the use of
chemicals that leave behind contaminants. Thus, the use of electricity is the only way to make correct
colloidal silver that is safe for internal usage. Anything that is added into the solution changes it into
something else. For example, the addition of salt chemically transforms colloidal silver into silver
chloride, which is something that does not have the exceptional safety record of colloidal silver. While
silver chloride is ideal for eye drops, it is nevertheless something that should not be used internally.

respective pieces, Homer, with a popular book called The Odyssey and the Coen brothers with the
film adaptation, O Brother, Where Art Thou? Although the movie and book have their differences, one
thing in common is their take on family relationships. In both works, the main characters realized they
were missing their families, and made it their first priority to return home to mend unresolved issues.
Homer and the Coen brothers were trying to say that in order to have a healthy relationship with your
family, it s necessary to be present and focused without distractions. In order to have a relationship
with the people you love, you need to be there for them. If you can t commit to your family, then
problems are inevitable. Relationships take work and time and attention, which is exactly what
Odysseus failed to provide his family with. In the beginning of The Odyssey, we find that Odysseus
had been gone for twenty long years and that he abandoned his wife and son to participate in the
Trojan War. Back in Ithaca, Penelope and Telemakhus are suffering the consequences of Odysseus
absence. If Odysseus was more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Characteristics Of A Successful Time Period During Late...
The traits that define a successful time period in late Imperial China are necessary expansion, unifying
the people, and the construction of an effective and incorrupt political structure. The effects of meeting
these criteria is sustained influence in following Chinese time periods both short term and long term,
as other rulers will benefit from what their predecessors have accomplished, or try to imitate
successful policies. As a team, the Kangxi emperor and his successor, the Yongzheng emperor, were
able to achieve all of the goals for a prosperous period in Chinese history. Although it was a relatively
short period, the Kangxi and Yongzheng emperor s times on the Qing throne were extremely
complementary, and ultimately came together to form the most successful time period in late Imperial
China.
The Kangxi emperor s greatest contributions to the Qing Dynasty were his impressive military forces
used to expand his lands and keep peace within them, and his ability to establish a foundation for
order in those lands. The Kangxi emperor was on the throne for sixty one years, and brought
expansion and a stable government to the Manchu Qing dynasty by integrating Manchu and Chinese
interests and making traditional Chinese institutions function again. The Kangxi emperor s long
reign...is the crucial period during which Manchu rule took form...With vigor and insight he faced the

Bed Bug Disadvantages
Bed Bug Extermination
Have you ever heard people complaining about itching or biting during night hours or about having a
large number of small insects crawling in all over the kitchen, bedroom or at other places at home?
Yes! These are bed bugs and they are what people have been combating to get rid of them for years.
They re the most devilish and vulnerable creatures caused itching and biting leaving red spot, skin
bumps and welts on victim s skin. It is the most disgusting thing to look at. Besides these apparent

healthy life again. The question is that; do people get enough success that values their hard earned
money and time? The fact is that in most of the cases people leave in depression and hopelessness
after they have spent hundreds of dollars and their valuable times as well. It is because the most of the
products available in the market just work for time being or no more effective against bed begs. On

Beloit University Personal Statement
I have been largely influenced by my first geology advisor at ASMSA, Dr. Lindsey Waddell, who
strongly advocated for liberal arts education and a Keck experience. Because of her advocacy and
outspokenness, I decided to attend Beloit College in an effort to obtain the best geology education
possible, through both its curriculum and Keck membership. I hope to become a well rounded
geoscientist that is not entirely confined by their narrow interests, but one that studies the Earth as an
integrative system through an interdisciplinary lens. After my undergraduate degree, I plan to attend
graduate school and earn a Master s in Geology and a PhD in Oceanography or Marine Geology.
Alternatively, I will consider other opportunities such as GeoCorps or Peace Corps. I aim to work as a

opportunity for paleoceanography research, which will help confirm whether my interests lie in
oceanography. Lastly, each geology major at Beloit College must successfully complete an
undergraduate thesis, and a Keck project provides an exceptional opportunity for this research. Dr.

Essay Ambivalence and Death in Shakespeare s Hamlet
In act IV, scene III, Shakespeare addresses the play s themes and messages; those being ambivalence
and how people are one and the same in the end of life. Hamlet speaks in an eccentric riddle form but
there are underlying messages communicated through Hamlet s craziness and Claudius confusion. The
ideas are conversed through Claudius and Hamlet and convey the morals of the drama, Hamlet.
Shakespeare also takes the liberty in this section to show how diverse and opposite the characters of
Claudius and Hamlet are by differentiating their literary devices. Although Hamlet and Claudius are
related to one another by the law and by both of their needs to achieve self fulfillment; In act IV, scene

 In addition to the sentence length and the content, Shakespeare shows the distinct difference
between Hamlet s quick thinking wittiness and Claudius slow uncertainty. Shakespeare dictated in the
script that Claudius was to talk with [fiery quickness] (48) during the dialogue where he is telling
Hamlet off; this section of lines is inferring that Claudius lines have been delayed and not very
powerful up to that point. In this particular scene, it is quite apparent that Claudius does not know
what to make of Hamlet s riddles. For instance, (To the attendants) Go seek him there. (41), states that
Claudius is quite slow on the uptake. Hamlet just told Claudius that Polonius body was up the stairs
into the lobby (40 41) which was up in heaven or hell, whichever the reader chose. Since Claudius
tells his servants to go find him there, it shows that he is not able to grasp Hamlet s intended meaning,
which is bi polar opposite of Hamlet s witty character. Another device Shakespeare crafted into the
script to highlight their differences was to have Hamlet speak about the Fat King and the Lean Beggar

The Characteristics Of Extraversion, Assertiveness, And...
People who are extraverted and conscientious are said to be less likely to develop anxiety and
depression, and science backs this argument. The researchers at the University at Buffalo found that
the two traits may provide some protection against those disorders.
Extraversion is one of the big five personality traits characterized by assertiveness, excitability,
sociability, and talkativeness. People with this personality traits are outgoing, constantly seeking social
stimulation. They are usually filled with energy, full of life, and positivity. Their opposites, the
introverts, are usually quiet, reserved, and shy who seldom interact with other people. Introverts prefer
spending time alone and require minimal social interaction to live.

The participants also completed several questionnaires provided by the researchers. The traits
extraversion, conscientiousness, and neuroticism were analyzed in the study, because of their strong
connection with anxiety and depression, and mood disorders.
We know individually how these traits relate to symptoms, but now we are beginning to understand
how the traits might impact one another. We have to consider the whole person in order to understand
the likelihood of developing negative symptoms down the road, said Kristin Naragon Gainey, an
assistant professor at the Department of Psychology at UB and the lead author of the study.
Conscientiousness and neuroticism are also included in the big five personality traits. Conscientious
people are very thoughtful, possess good control over impulses, and have behaviors directly at goals in
life. They are usually organized and really pay attention to details.

Age Of The Enlightenment
At the start of the eighteenth century intellectual leaders attempted to understand why what had been
done in natural science could not be done in social science. The Enlightenment has been defined in
many different ways, but its broadest was a philosophical, intellectual and cultural movement of the
eighteenth century. The leaders wanted logic to be included in a worldwide since such as used in
history, politics, jurisprudence, and economics. The Enlightenment preferred to see humanity as
capable of creating its own moral code in order to help create a rational mind. The Enlightenment also
pioneered in applying scientific methods to the study of human society, sketching the modern social

The way the world works now is all based off the Enlightenment. By furthering development in the
arts, philosophy, religion, and politics the Enlightenment has furthered our research and ideals. It
produced a set of basic principles about human affairs. Humans beings are naturally good and can be
educated to be better, (The Age Of The Enlightenment). Enlightenment thinkers attacked the Catholic
church with particular vigor. Progress was possible, even inevitable, if people could be set free.
Society s goals should center on improvements in material and social life. In culture, the aftermath of
the scientific revolution spilled over into a new movement known as the Enlightenment, centered
particularly in France but with adherents throughout the Western world. Enlightenment thinkers
continued to support scientific advance. While there were no Newton like breakthroughs, chemists
gained new understanding of major elements and biologists developed a vital new classification
system for the natural species (The Enlightenment P.1). Enlightenment thinkers showed great interest
in technological change, for greater prosperity was a valid and achievable goal. Coercion and cruelty
could be corrected, for the Enlightenment encouraged a humanitarian outlook that was applied in
condemnations of slavery and war. The Enlightenment, summing up and extending earlier intellectual
changes, became an important force for political and social reform. It did not rule unchallenged.
Important popular religious movements, such as Methodism in England, showed the continued power
of spiritual faith. Many writers, particularly those experimenting with the novel as a new literary form
in the West, rebelled against Enlightenment rationality to urge the importance of sentimentality and
emotion. These approaches,

Northup was born a freeman that was obtained from his father after being freed by the Northup family
due to loyal service. Growing up in the free state of New York, Solomon was allowed an education
that was rare because of the sad disposition of the majority of his race. Solomon gained much

Northup and others were to be shipped to New Orleans. New Orleans had the biggest slave market in
the South. It was a place no slave ever wanted to encounter. Before arriving in New Orleans, they
made frequent stops at other slave pens to resupply goods and acquire more slaves. Escape always
came to mind while on the ship but never came to fruition, as opportunity was lost. Arriving in New
Orleans Northup was given the name Platt and placed in another slave pen similar to that in
Washington. While in the pen they were to be kept in a presentable manner, washed, shaved and
dressed in a cheap suit everyday. Slaves were instructed in moving to their spots and looking smart .
Each slave was to stand in their spot while potential buyers viewed and analyzed them thoroughly.
Northup became well known for his violin skills, so much so that Freeman was able to exploit such
skills in pricing. However, after being exposed to small pox earlier from another slave, Northup got
deathly ill and was rushed to the hospital, decreasing his value. Though still weak, he returned to the
slave pen where he was sold to Mr. William Ford. Many different masters owned Northup, but two to
be discussed are William Ford and Edwin Epps. William Ford, a future Baptist preacher and owner of
a lumberyard, purchased Northup in the New Orleans. Ford lived in the Great Pine Woods of

Our research over the past five years into the battles between multinationals and local Chinese
companies reveals that while market dominance by local champions is far from universal, it s
becoming ever more frequent. In industries as different as beer brewing, mobile phone manufacturing
and laundry detergent production, Chinese companies often seeming to appear from nowhere are
forcing multinationals to rethink their strategies and their hopes for explosive growth in the China
market.
1
The message is clear: Multinationals must factor in the existence of robust local competition, while
considering the new opportunities that have opened up as a result of China s WTO membership. To
understand the way competition between multinationals and local champions is evolving and to
pinpoint the keys to success, we traced the evolution of competition in China in 10 industries over the
last 10 years.2 We conducted more than 100 interviews with dozens of leading companies operating in
China, both multinationals and locals, and reviewed thousands of pages of secondary data. The picture
of competition that emerged from our research can best be described not in terms of traditional market
positioning, but as a battle of competencies between multinationals and local players.
Constraints on Multinationals Multinationals generally start off with clear advantages in two areas:

Death Penalty or Life in Prison
Death Penalty I began my research by looking into the death penalty or also known as capital
punishment. The death penalty is the action of executing a person who has committed an illegal act
equivalent to death. Crimes punishable by death vary depending on the state; some include murder,
sexual assault, treason, and other serious capital crimes ( Crimes Punishable , 2011). There are many
different outlooks on the death penalty; some in favor of the death penalty believe it is the ultimate

Life in Prison
I continue my research on the effects of life in prison opposed to the death penalty. Life imprisonment
is any sentence for serious crimes that insures the offender spends life equivalency in prison or at least
until parole. In a lot of cases when an offender is sentenced to life in prison they don t get the
advantage of parole. No one ever sentenced to life without parole has ever been released, they spend
the rest of their lives in prison and they usually die of natural causes (Wilbur, 2012). The advantages
of life imprisonment are few but worth looking over, for example it saves an abundant amount of
money. It costs tax payers $90,000 more per prisoner each year for inmates on death row then they
pay for the general prison population. Also it saves many innocent lives of those who were wrongly
accused. More than 200 innocent men and women have been freed from prison in California after it
was discovered that they were wrongfully convicted; three of them were sentenced to die for crimes
they did not commit ( The Truth, n.d.).
The disadvantages of spending life in prison are serious and dangerous. Prisons all over the country
are becoming very overpopulated, causing less aid for each inmate. Inmates sentenced to death in
prison receive less access to programs and no special treatment unlike other prisoners ( The Truth,

National Honor Society Personal Statement Essay
National Honor Society Personal Statement
I have always had an interest in improving the community around us, and would like to be involved in
this role by helping out in the community. By joining NHS, I aspire to enhance some of my skills,
such as ambition, collaboration, and leadership. I hope to increase my initiative to provide service in
the community and to take chances out of my comfort zone. By helping out in the community more
with service projects I hope to improve my collaborative, management and people skills. In addition, I
hope to improve my leadership skills through public service projects. These projects will not only give
me more experience with leadership, but they will also motivate me to help my community and my
peers with their endeavors. I believe that joining the National Honor Society at River Hill will teach
me essential skills for my future, and improve my community.
Learning is the single most important aspect of any school education. Being able to retain the content
and apply the information is much more important than simply memorizing facts. Earlier this year, I
had initially started to take a certain class that would not benefit me in the future, and instead create an
abundance amount of stress for me, as I had no interest in taking that course and was merely taking it
to fit the norms of other students. Soon after, I realized that taking a different class that actually
interested me would be more beneficial, and thus I would be able to focus on my other courses of high
levels. This switch genuinely allows me to develop a much higher level of commitment for my other
classes and help me retain the information for future purposes. A leader takes diligent time in
considering the ability to adhere to other people s interests and presents their followers with a positive
mindset. This summer, I accepted an invitation to participate in the Dale Carnegie Young Adult
Leadership Program. Attendees of this program learned several skills that can be applied to future
experiences, especially on how to become an effective leader. Everyday, the attendees acted as leaders
by accomplishing various tasks that forced them to reach out of their comfort zones. We acted as
leaders by leading group

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Longest War By Rebecca Solnit
For my rhetorical analysis, I read Rebecca Solnit s essay The Longest War, which shed a light on the
unequal treatment of men and women and the violence that women face throughout their lives, and
around the world.
In analyzing this essay, I looked at the context and the substance of Solnit s essay. In terms of context,
I looked primarily at her use of examples, and where these examples come from. First off, Solnit
conveyed messages of gender inequality and violence from around the globe, rather than just
throughout the United States. Additionally, she creates ties between the Civil Rights Movement and
the women s rights movement that is currently happening to emphasize the importance of the events to
the readers. This strategy is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I realized that the abundance of examples and statistics that she used were a big part of this, because
they provide facts that are hard to contest. I used this as the basis for forming my thesis. After this, I
went through the essay again and found locations that tied in well to this main idea. This was my
method for developing support. I looked at the essay and the context of it and tried to tie in what
Solnit was saying with how I felt about the essay itself. I took this information altogether and saw how
Solnit was proving her points and fulfilling her purpose.
My strengths in this essay, I believe, are in not just analyzing the information that Solnit provides, but
in also analyzing the effect that this information has on the readers. My final body paragraph details
both the logical and the emotional responses that Solnit brings up in her audience. Additionally, I feel
that I was successful in tying all of the analysis that I supply back to Solnit s purpose in writing the
essay. It is easy to look at the context and the substance of an essay, but to relate it all back to the
author s goal in writing it is what shows that you have a fuller understanding of the work.
In writing this essay, I started out by trying to analyze far too much of what Solnit had written. Along
with the substance and the context of the essay, I wanted to get deeper into her organization and other
smaller details of her writing. In The Longest War, Solnit

Varadero Beach Research Paper
The beach, the place that concedes the chance to the people to be closer to the sea, smell the fresh air,
hear the seagulls, and feel the ocean in the feet. Clearwater Beach, in Florida and Varadero Beach, in
Cuba allows one to experience all this explosion of sensations and beyond. For example, Clearwater
Beach and Varadero Beach provide the vacationists the chance to practice diving, fishing, shelling,
sailing, admire wildlife and snorkeling. Additionally, both beaches offer hotels and warm waters that
invite to all who visit them to fall in love with astonishing sunsets. Nevertheless, there are other
aspects that make these two similar beaches different from each other. To begin with, the water in
Varadero Beach is of a crystal light blue. A transparent and clear water that, on the cloudiest day,
allows the visitor to spot the rich marine wildlife. Starfish are visible from the surface, even when it is
as deep as under six feet of water. The jaibas, a kind of sea crab that is very common in this area, can
also be admired running on the seabed, looking for its next meal. The colorful fish that are endemic
from this submarine landscape provide a multicolor picture that is enhanced by the sunlight making in
its way down; a phenomenon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, Varadero Beach has been considered a natural resort from its opening, this means
that visitors are allowed as long as they do not threaten the sustainability of the ecosystem present
there. Subsequently, this tourist trap keeps Varadero beach at an almost virgin and pristine stage, an
asset that seems to gain attention during times where society is more in contact with nature rather than
in contact with the crowded and polluted

Unconditional Positive Regard In Psychology Essay
Psychology is all about human minds and how people behave. Psychology today are more based on
social, lifespan development and personality. There are several parts of psychology, which individuals
are more likely to involvement such as, unconditional positive, conformity and personality parenting
styles. Unconditional positive regard is in roger s theory that based on the child s sense of being
unconditionally loved and valued even if a child, do not conform to the standards and expectation of
others. For example, when I was babysitting a child, I was able to disagree of child s specific behavior
without completely refusing the child himself. As a babysitter, I said to a child that I love her,
nevertheless I cannot do what she like because it is not good behavior. The reason that this is an
example of unconditional positive regard it is because the objectifying tendency is fully operational
and she makes selections that move her in the way of greater growth and fulfillment of potential.
According from Rogers, he believes that it is through consistent knowledge of unconditional positive
regard that one develop a psychologically healthy and fully functioning person. Moreover, this was the
only way which the child s vital sense of self worth can continue intact. Conformity is the tendency to
regulate one s behavior, attitudes, or beliefs to group norms in reply to real or imagined group
pressure. For instance, in fall 2016, I was taking a mathematic course and our professor

  • 2. The Flight Attendant Training Program Charles Lindbergh flew the first American Airlines flight on April 15, 1926 carrying U.S. mail from St. Louis, Missouri to Chicago, Illinois (American Airlines). American Airlines flew United States mail routes for about eight years until C.R. Smith and Donald Douglas created the DC 3 plane that would change the airline industry. The DC 3 flew in service from New York to Chicago (American Airlines). Over the years the company began to grow what it is today. American Airlines grew from engineering the DC 3 to the DC 7 and eventually created new flight planes that would be able to take passengers all over the United States and eventually overseas. American Airlines was the first airline to create a specialized flight attendant training program (American Airlines). The airline knew the importance of keeping its passengers comfortable during their flight. Finally, on October 16, 2015 U.S. Airways flew its last flight and on October 17, 2015 U.S. Airways and American Airlines began to operate under one company. The key issues that are behind the American Airlines and U.S. Airways merger is that when it all comes down to it is that once these two companies are combines they will be better able to offer its customers better options according to Thomas C. Lawton (2013). However, since two companies are becoming one the critics will argue that there will be less competition in the airline industry especially since there seem only to be four major airlines now, Delta, American ... Oklahoma City Bombing Rhetorical Analysis Bill Clinton Essay Oklahoma City Bombing Rhetorical Analysis The Oklahoma City Bombing would be considered the worst terrorist attack on America prior to the 9/11 World Trade Center attack. Just outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, on April 19th, 1995 a truck exploded, killing 168 people. 19 of those 168 being children. The explosion caused damage to 300 surrounding buildings. Oklahoma City was going through a tragedy and needed guidance from a leader. Oklahoma City needed someone to soothe their pain and give them back their lost hope. Clinton uses rhetorical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today our nation joins with you in grief. We mourn with you. We share your hope against hope that some may still survive. In this statement, he is using a pathos appeal to make his audience feel one with their nation by their shared emotions of remorse and sadness, Oklahoma is not the only state that is grieving. America has lost many sons and daughters. By using the words grief and mourn Clinton shows how tragic and emotional the current event is and shows that he can interpret and understand exactly what his audience is going through. Clinton reminds them that he will be there for them for every step of the difficult process. Another way Clinton uses pathos is when he tries to comfort the people who have lost loved ones by saying, You have lost too much, but you have not lost everything. Clinton lets the audience know that they have people that will help them through this hard time and they have the nation behind them: You have certainly not lost America, for we will stand with you for as many tomorrows as it takes. Clinton ultimately reaches his goal of comforting his audience by using ethos and pathos strategies throughout his speech. Clinton s next move was to give advice from someone who had been in a similar situation. Referring to the letters he received after the bombing, Clinton explains that one letter in particular stood out. Clinton gives words of wisdom from a widowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How To Write An Essay About Kendrick Lamar Concert Review: Kendrick Lamar To begin I d like to mention that I love Kendrick Lamar; to me he is a lyrical genius especially in an era where rap has changed to an even more violent tone. Most people could all agree that he is the most stimulating and uplifting rapper for this current generation. Hip hop seemed to need Kendrick Lamar and as we can tell his positive influence is spreading across the nation as he recently won a Grammy topping even more known rappers such as drake. With a track such as The blacker the berry the crowd couldn t help but to just appreciate the hard work the performer was putting into this piece. • 5. Kants Fundamental Principles Of The Metaphysics Of Moral... Kant s Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Moral The central concept of Kant s Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals is the categorical imperative. The conception of an objective principle, in so far as it is obligatory for a will, is called a command (of reason), and the formula of the command is called an Imperative. (Abbott, 30) An imperative is something that a will ought or shall do because the will is obligated to act in the manner in which it conforms with moral law. The categorical imperative is an obligation by the will to act so that the action can be classified as a universal law. When one acts in conformity with the universal law at all times, they are following out the categorical imperative. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant uses four examples to better describe the working of the categorical imperative in Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals. The first example is of a man who is suffering from many misfortunes in life and wishes to commit sucicide on the basis of self love. Kant declares that this cannot be the categorical imperative at work because the maxim derived from self love, to shorten his life to avoid more pain, is a contradiction in itself for no man can kill himself painlessly and therefore cannot be a universal maxim. The action of killing oneself would cause pain, which is not in conformity to the maxim stated to avoid pain. The second example Kant gives is based on the basic premise of lying. A man is forced to borrow money which he knows he will never be able to repay but he promises to do so anyway. This action is not consistent with duty and the maxim could be expressed as: When I [the man] think myself in want of money, I will borrow money and promise to repay it, although I know that I never can do so. (Abbott, 39) The maxim cannot hold as a universal law because if everyone lied about promises, the promise itself would become impossible, and the end would be unattainable. Telling the truth is an end in itself. The third example is of a man who it bestowed a natural ability but does not use it to it s full ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is an increasing interest in the relationship between diabetes and sociodemographic and lifestyle factors but the extent of the geographical variability of diabetes with respect to these variables still remains unclear. The regression models commonly used for disease modeling either use Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression by assuming all the explanatory variables have the same effect over geographical locations or Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) that assumes the effect of all the explanatory variables vary over the geographical space. In reality, the effect of some of the variables may be fixed (global) and other variables vary spatially (local). For this type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diabetes is associated with obesity, physical inactivity, race and other socioeconomic covariates (Hipp Chalise, 2015). There is a steady increase in type 2 diabetes prevalence especially in adolescents and African Americans (Arslanian, 2000; Arslanian, Bacha, Saad, Gungor, 2005; Harris, 2001). Studies of the correlates of diabetes ignore the spatial non stationarity by either fitting OLS method or using all the variables as nonstationary by fitting GWR model. A number of studies (Chen, Wu, Yang, Su, 2010; Dijkstra et al., 2013; Hipp Chalise, 2015; Siordia, Saenz, Tom, 2012) used GWR model to study the association between diabetes and other covariates. • 7. Naturalism And Evolution Popularizing the claim that naturalism and evolution are mutual self defeaters, Alvin Plantinga argues, in Evolutionary Argument Against Naturalism (1993), that given unguided evolution, our beliefs have no intrinsic relation to the truth. Drawing on previous arguments made by C.C Lewis and Arthur Balfour, Plantinga claims that if humans are the product of undirected processes, then we cannot reasonably rely on our cognitive faculties. In fact, it s just as likely, ... that we live in a sort of dream world as that we actually know something about ourselves and our world. Thus, if we cannot rely on our beliefs, then we cannot rely on our belief in naturalism and, ahem, evolution. And therefore naturalism is defeated. Well, if true, this ... In fact, the well established foibles in our thinking pose a considerable challenge to Plantinga s suggestion that we are the perfect perceivers of truth one would expect as the product of an omnipotent Creator. Plantinga s argument trades upon the philosophical knowledge problem: the difficulty in providing a neat solution to the foundation of knowledge: how do we know we can rely on our beliefs? But this philosophical problem is not specific to either evolution of naturalism: the challenge pertains to all of our beliefs. Plato outlines the different aspects of government and why he believes an aristocracy would be better form of government. In book 8 Socrates starts to wrap up his depiction of a just city. He starts to break down the four unjust constitutions of the city and man. Timocracy, which is represented by the honor driven man who resembles and rules that sort of government. In book 9 Plato discusses the aspects of the tyrannical man. He mentions that the tyrants are someone who is consumed by lawless desires. One question I have is the tyrannical man destined to be a tyrant because he has a noble democratic father? These desires lead men towards ghastly, shameless, criminal actions that are particularly bad for someone in an position of power. Socrates offers an example of a lawless desire is the desire to sleep with one s mother, something that is horrible to do in any society. It is made clear that all of us have lawless desires, which is indubitably true. The proof is that these desires occasionally come out at night, in our dreams, when the rational part of us is not on guard. But only the tyrannical man allows these desires to emerge in life while he is awake during the day. Plato s description continues, the tyrannical man is the son of the democratic man. His father is not lawless, but he does indulge unnecessary desires. Just like the father, the son is exposed to drones, men with lawless desires. However the father had his own oligarchic father s thriftiness to pull him toward the middle road of democracy. This is crucial for the balance one must have to be a ruler in society. Now this son brought up on the democratic ethos, moves further toward lawlessness. The father and entire household try to win him back, but the ultimate triumph of the lawless is inevitable. The leaders wanted logic to be included in a worldwide since such as used in history, politics, jurisprudence, and economics. By furthering development in the arts, philosophy, religion, and politics the Enlightenment has furthered our research and ideals. It produced a set of basic principles about human affairs. Humans beings are naturally good and can be educated to be better, (The Age Of The Enlightenment). Enlightenment thinkers attacked the Catholic church with particular vigor. Progress was possible, even inevitable, if people could be set free. Society s goals should center on improvements in material and social life. In culture, the aftermath of the scientific revolution spilled over into a new movement known as the Enlightenment, centered particularly in France but with adherents throughout the Western world. Enlightenment thinkers continued to support scientific advance. While there were no Newton like breakthroughs, chemists gained new understanding of major elements and biologists developed a vital new classification system for the natural species (The Enlightenment P.1). Enlightenment thinkers showed great interest in technological change, for greater prosperity was a valid and achievable goal. Coercion and cruelty could be corrected, for the Enlightenment encouraged a humanitarian outlook that was applied in condemnations of slavery and war. The Enlightenment, summing up and extending earlier intellectual changes, became an important force for political and social reform. It did not rule unchallenged. Important popular religious movements, such as Methodism in England, showed the continued power of spiritual faith. Arriving in New Orleans Northup was given the name Platt and placed in another slave pen similar to that in Washington. While in the pen they were to be kept in a presentable manner, washed, shaved and dressed in a cheap suit everyday. Slaves were instructed in moving to their spots and looking smart . Each slave was to stand in their spot while potential buyers viewed and analyzed them thoroughly. Northup became well known for his violin skills, so much so that Freeman was able to exploit such skills in pricing. However, after being exposed to small pox earlier from another slave, Northup got deathly ill and was rushed to the hospital, decreasing his value. Life imprisonment is any sentence for serious crimes that insures the offender spends life equivalency in prison or at least until parole. In a lot of cases when an offender is sentenced to life in prison they don t get the advantage of parole. No one ever sentenced to life without parole has ever been released, they spend the rest of their lives in prison and they usually die of natural causes (Wilbur, 2012). The advantages of life imprisonment are few but worth looking over, for example it saves an abundant amount of money. It costs tax payers $90,000 more per prisoner each year for inmates on death row then they pay for the general prison population. Also it saves many innocent lives of those who were wrongly accused. More than 200 innocent men and women have been freed from prison in California after it was discovered that they were wrongfully convicted; three of them were sentenced to die for crimes they did not commit ( The Truth, n.d.). The disadvantages of spending life in prison are serious and dangerous. Prisons all over the country are becoming very overpopulated, causing less aid for each inmate.
