Problems:
As written in the case study, earlier the SYSCO operating regions had conducted their own HR
practices without consulting the HR department. This was the big problem and could have led to
negative impact on company s growth. Cooperation between operating managers and the HR
department is extremely important for HR efforts to succeed. HR also known as employee advocates
or company morale officers who serves all employee issues or concerns with managing organization s
strategies and goals. But without the HR advocate role, there could be a risk for employer to face
lawsuits and other regulatory complaints.
Another problem in the SYSCO case study was the safety. Workplace safety and security has grown in
importance along with disaster and recovery planning. Also, with explosive internet growth, many
employees and managers uses social media such as wikis, blogs, tweets and other techniques. Though
it is extremely helpful, but still the risk of social media is apparent. This could lead to many problems
such as leakage of trade secrets, potential customers information and privacy of all the employees.
Increase in safety issues resulted in increase of compensation claims by workers or other agencies.
A high turnover rate of night shift warehouse workers was another problem faced by the SYSCO.
Recruiting new workers regularly has become a big challenge for SYSCO.
Another problem was related to the

A Feminist Perspective On Women
All across the world women are being discriminated against for their gender. Feminism is the
movement to combat this. Though there are many misconstructions to what being a feminist means,
Webster s Dictionary defines feminism as the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of
the sexes. Feminism is not about one gender being above the other but allowing both to be equal in all
ways. Sexism is expressed in varies different ways. In countries like America, the sexism faced is
shown through things such as the wage gap and gender roles. In other countries, however, such as
Indian and China, the sexism faced is more extreme and the women are in more sever danger.
Some people do not believe there is a need for a feminist movement, and that women have equal
rights. One huge issue that women face is the wage gap. People argue that laws such as the Equal Pay
Act has gotten rid of the need for women s suffrage, but a wage gap still exists. For every dollar a man
makes, the average white woman makes 78 cents. African American women make 64 cents and
Hispanic women averagely make a mere 56 cents to the man s dollar. Something that affects women s
earnings is lower work hours and their years with zero earnings due to family care. Women workers in
their prime earning years earned 62% less than men, or only $0.38 for every dollar men earned.
During that 15 year period, the average woman earned only $273,592 while the average man earned
$722,693 (in 1999 dollars).

Dear Ol Dirty Bastard By Thomas Hayes
This quote explains Hayes literal message which is to Never mistake what it is for what it looks like.
This is explaining most of what Hayes means inside of his poem. Dear Ol Dirty Bastard: I too like it
raw, I don t especially care for Duke Ellington at a birthday party. I care less and less. The reader can
see how Hayes uses allusions that most stereotypes would connect a racial group to in this case Hayes
is black so readers or anyone in society would think he listens to the people he listed in the beginning
of the line. He s practically saying that this is something expected for him to do but he doesn t really
care for what people can assume him for. Now in Hayes poem what it look like he uses forms of

The Heart Of Cardiac Muscle Essay
INTRODUCTION The cardiac muscle, more commonly known as the heart muscle, is quite different
from the more familiar know skeletal muscle. Unlike skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle is able to
conduct its own electrical impulses allowing it to contract and relax spontaneously without being told
to by the brain or any other organ (Marieb, Mitchell, p. 512). This is due to the constant leakage of
sodium ions into the mainly potassium filled cells which then eventually lead to action potentials
causing the heart to beat rhythmically (Mariev, Mitchell, p.512) this rhythm is more commonly
referred to as one s heartbeat. From this BIOPAC laboratory, the student(s) should learn how different
stimuli will affect a resting heart rate. Due to the fact that cardiac muscle is able to create action
potentials on its own, a change in chemical, temperature, and ionic balance causes the heart to react
differently and change its rhythm of beats by either slowing down or speeding up. More specifically,
by saturating the heart with histamine the heart rate should speed up, while pilocarpine will cause the
heart to substantially slow, and finally the addition of epinephrine will cause the resting heart rate to
speed up.

Benefits Of European Union s Membership
The Benefits of European Union s Membership Thuat Nguyen Professor Padula University of
California, Santa Barbara Ital 161AX December 15, 2014 1.Introduction Since the beginning of recent
crisis, the consideration of becoming European Union s member for its benefits has been the main
focus for many countries. As the incident of WWII proclaimed the shattered of European economy,
many country s economic system could not recovered on their own. Many evidences were obtained
and analyzed from countries that became members during EU enlargement. The EU on average would
gain around 1⁄2 percent of real GDP over a six year period. However, the impact is quite different in the
separate EU member states (Breuss 2001). Even though the problems are varies among different
countries, whether they are stabled or are in the process of development, researches have shown that
the benefits providing to EU members cause major rises in the economy. And the process of becoming
EU member is effortless compared to the overwhelming benefits that they received. Therefore the
main argument of this paper is: can growth and productivity be different when a country decides
whether or not to join the EU? The delay in the process of widening and deepening are due to the
insufficient resources and unmet conditions of smaller countries. By understanding the benefits of
becoming EU member, those countries would be more aware of what they are lacking. Utilizing the
EU benefits would increase

Doha Round of Wto Negotiations
The Doha Round of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has sparked controversy, anger and even
suicide from its commencement. This paper seeks to explore what is this Doha Round that has ignited
such passionate displays from delegates and the common man alike, what are the issues at stake given
the Round s success or failure and finally, given the events that have marred its history to date and
based on the many other factors in play, could the Doha Round come to a successful conclusion?

Unlike Seattle, the collapse of the talks in Cancun did not prevent the commencement of the second
round of negotiations, this occurred in Geneva in 2004. The August Geneva talks achieved a
framework agreement on opening global trade. At the Paris talks of 2005, negotiators wanted to make
tangible progress before the December 2005 Hong Kong meeting. However, the talks were left
hanging over a few issues which were viewed as small technical issues, making trade negotiators fear
that agreement on large politically risky issues would be substantially harder.
December 13th 18th 2005 marked the ministerial meeting which took place in Hong Kong. At this
meeting representatives reached a deal that sets a deadline for eliminating subsidies of agricultural
exports by 2013. July 2006 talks in Geneva once again set the DDA off track as negotiators failed to
reach an agreement about reducing farm subsidies and lowering import taxes. Negotiations were
suspended on the 24th July 2006. At a conference at Potsdam in July 2007, a major impasse occurred
between the US, the EU, India and Brazil. The major disagreement was over opening up agricultural
and industrial markets in various countries and also how to cut rich nation farm subsidies.

Hanna Rosin s Argument Analysis
On the issue of male circumcision Hanna Rosin presents arguments that support the procedure while
Michael Idov argues against the act. Rosin begins her argument by describing her own experiences
when her sons were circumcised and the anger she felt when hearing them howl in pain. However, she
follows this up with an acknowledgment that the feeling quickly dissipated once her sons were
completely healed. Rosin then goes on to describe many of the benefits of circumcision, focusing in
on the health aspect. Specifically, her argument hinges on studies that correlate a higher rate of HIV
and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to men that are uncircumcised. Michael Idov also
utilizes the health angle to support his argument and even

Alaysis of krys Lee s Drifting house
In A Temporary Marriage which is the latest story in chronicle order, author depicted Korean
immigrants and their life with Okja as the central figure. She wants to change, but even until the end
of the story, Ok ja cannot truly extricate herself from her previous life, her past.
Mrs. Shin! A distant voice tried to reach her, but she was beyond reaching. ······ But even as he

passage, we could found that she delights in inflicted pain and is still called Mrs. Shin until the end.

I cried many times, hearing and reading stories about people I knew, before this sadness changed into
anger at a regime that destroys its own people. These could be a clear evidence of Kyres Lee s trigger
of writing this book is related to North Korea and the story Drifting House is the root story of this
book. As I mentioned previously, one of the themes, the memory of the past is haunting the present,
and 2 or more stories are influencing each other. Author deliberately put these stories apart, put them
not a numerical order. And when readers read this book, we could found the truth or facts about
character s past when these short stories are progressing and it affects readers. There is the another
example of this theme is the interrelationship between The Goose Father and A Temporary Marriage .
The Goose Father s main character is Gilho Pak, who is Detector Pak in A Temporary Marriage , is a
goose father separated from his family. He attempts to secure a stable social position and he is
ambivalent about his sexual orientation. He met Woo Seong and it seemed he did coming out, which is
scandal to his family. In A Temporary Marriage , there are some passages about the consequence of
this scandal. She looked for family photos on Dr. Pak s desk: (...) but there was only a photo of Dr.

Importance Of Birth Registration In Nigeria
The vital registration system of birth registration in Nigeria is weak. Although birth registration is
required under Nigerian law, only about 30% of all children in Nigeria are officially registered. Birth
registration is recognized as a human right and is greatly associated with the social determinants of
health. A child who does not get registered at birth faces threats to their safety, health and welfare.
The health workforce and information system building blocks of Nigeria s health system pose
challenges to ensuring universal birth registration. There is currently a health workforce crisis in
Nigeria and there are not enough human or financial resources to register Nigeria s large youth
population. In addition, the information system is inefficient and unnecessarily bureaucratic.
Currently, the NPC uses a paper based multi step system that is highly inefficient. There is also a
general lack of awareness of the birth registration requirement, importance and benefits in Nigeria.
The program presented in this grant proposal aims to address these bottle necks by implementing a
nationwide mobile vitals registration system in conjunction with training CHWs in rural areas to
educate community members about birth registration and forming village registries that can be used to
register births with the NPC. Mobile vital registration systems have been successfully implemented in
Uganda and Tanzania. Furthermore, birth registration rates were significantly increased in Ghana

View Of Justice Reflected By Amazing Grace Essay
Thrasymachan View of Justice Reflected in Amazing Grace In the Republic, Socrates starts the
discussion with the definition of justice. When Thrasymachus angrily interrupts and gives his own
definition, he in fact takes an opposite view on justice and argues that injustice is more advantageous
and profitable. Glaucon and Adiemantus further develop Thrasymachus view with a theory of the
nature and the origins of justice and claim that justice is desired only for the sake of rewards. In
Amazing Grace, injustice happens every day at every corner of Mott Haven, yet there are still a lot of
citizens trying to lead a just life. In the conflict between the authorities and the Mott Haven citizens,
the ceaseless injustice in Mott Haven, and some people s just acts, Thrasymachan view of justice is
reflected. To start with, Thrasymachus argues that it is profitable to act unjustly and harmful to act
justly. When Thrasymachus first defines justice as nothing other than the advantage of the stronger, he
refers to the ruler, which is the stronger, and the ruled (Plato, 338c). In this context, he believes that
the ruling party in any type of regime tyranny, democracy, or aristocracy makes laws to its own
advantage and defines the acts to its disadvantage as unjust (338d 339a). For the subjects it is just to
obey the laws and serve the ruler s interest, so if there is a conflict between the interests of the ruler
and the subjects, the ruler seeks what benefits itself through laws

Managing The Population Through Education And Birth...
When the world celebrated the 7 billionth baby s birth in Manila a few years back, we were stepping
in a society with noticeable population explosion. Those overpopulated societies which can no longer
sustain themselves invade the natural environment which belongs to wildlife and over exploit natural
resources for survival. Human beings are supposed to be responsible for the majority of environmental
problems, while overpopulation exacerbates most problems such as pollution, deforestation, global
warming, etc. Thus, to save the world from those environmental crises we should attach more
importance on the people that cause them rather than just reply on developing technology to fix the
problem its own. Managing the population through education and birth control policy is what we can
do with global joint efforts. Reminding the public of our population problem, providing an option of
birth control to families and guiding the public to live sustainably will slow down the population
growth, and hopefully in the long sense reduce world s population. Most importantly, such declining
population which owns greener lifestyle creates a benign and harmonious relationship with the planet.
The UNICEF estimates that an average of 353,000 babies are born each day; this means a baby is born
to the world every two seconds. About 60 years ago, the world s population is less than a half of what
it is right now. Therefore, if the population continue to grow with this rate, the

Essay Building Rail to Last
A railroad is like a lie, you have to keep building it to make it stand. Mark Twain Sustainability, the
ability to create an enduring system, is a critical factor in the evaluation of an industry. The health of
the transportation industry and specifically the railroad industry depends on the industry s ability to
sustain its business model in the face of resource challenges. A key driver of rail sustainability is the
infrastructure, the rails, switches, yards and turnouts that the railroad industry uses when moving
goods from source to destination. Both the government and the individual railroads are investing
heavily in infrastructure projects, and have chosen different targets for improving the health of the
railroad system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The passage of the Rail Passenger Service Act in 1970 led to the formation of the National Railroad
Passenger Corporation (Amtrak), and the railroads were given the opportunity to divest their
passenger rail service and focus on freight service. A second boon to the railroad industry occurred in
1980 with the passage of the Staggers Act. The Staggers Act significantly reduced the ability of the
Interstate Commerce Commission to regulate shipping rates, allowed the railroads to divest
unprofitable lines, and legalized railroad shipper contracts. The combined results of these two major
legislative policy actions were to revive what was a failing railroad industry. In fact, the Government
Accountability Office (GAO) has twice been asked by shippers to investigate freight railroad shipping
rates since the passage of the Staggers Act, in 1999 and 2002. Both times, the GAO found that rates
generally had decreased to a greater extent than rates for shipments without such alternatives. In these
cases, at least, effective regulation resulted in a healthy industry. The freight rail industry in the U.S. is
so healthy now, that a comparison of U.S. freight rates to those in other industrialized nations shows
the U.S. to have the lowest rates in the world, as depicted in the chart above. In order to continue this
trend, however, the country must make

Simulation Pricing Strategy
My project this summer was to create a pricing strategy for a simulation that would return the
maximum frequency of pictures spread evenly across a given number of locations. I began by
implementing a simple simulation in which I used Math.Random() to repeatedly generate a number
between zero and thirty, thirty being the set number of locations. I then used the random number
generated as an array index and increased the picture count in the location that the number
corresponded to by one. Each location had a set price so all I did was generate location indexes until
the budget was met. After I finished this very basic simulation, I started contemplating my project
focus which was the pricing strategy I needed to implement. One of the original ideas suggested to me
was the Poisson Distribution in which I could model the simulation as number of pictures taken over a
period of time. I could then allocate more or less of the budget to a time slot based on how many
pictures were taken in the previous time period.
The issues I had when attempting to model this distribution were:
It proved rather difficult to model the simulation based on previous pictures taken, because regardless
of this information when I distributed the budget I had no way of ... Show more content on

I realized from the beginning that there were a lot of factors that could contribute to whether or not a
user takes a photo such as price, distance from a location, etc. I, however, decided to use price as my
primary factor due to my lack of information regarding the other variables. Due to price being the
main factor in the probability I saw little point in modeling the probability of someone taking a photo
with a normal distribution when it can be modeled linearly (the higher the price at a location the more
likely a user is to take a photo at that

Uber has been in the news recently for trying to mass market, something people have been working at
for a long time. driverless cars. These cars developed in their Advanced Technology Center in
Pittsburgh, went to the streets in mid September for some selective testing. They hope to unveil
completely driverless cars by 2021. Uber s goal of this project, as best put by their engineering
coordinator, Raffi Krikorian is, To wean us off of having drivers in the car. (Chafkin) Seeking
efficiency, they don t seem to take into account the many side effects of this development. They

The Cultural Elements Of Kaffir Boy By Mark Mathabane
The Cultural Elements of Kaffir Boy Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane is an incredibly complex novel
detailing the author s childhood and coming of age in a South Africa gripped by apartheid. It also
describes his steadfast pursuit of tennis as a means of escaping the aforementioned system that
legalized and even encouraged racism. Though the autobiography captures copious personal struggles
and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones these being the
elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural elements, and the first
one introduced to the reader, is the social element. On the very first page of chapter one, Mathabane
states that, The white man of South Africa certainly does not know me. He certainly does not know
the conditions under which I was born and had to live for eighteen years. So my story is intended to
show him with words a world he would otherwise not see because of a sign and a conscience racked
with guilt and to make him feel what I felt when he contemptuously called me a Kaffir boy.
(Mathabane 3). Issues of race and racism are the more frequently described types of social element in
Kaffir Boy , however, the power struggle between Mathabane s mother and father is also discussed.

the household. She brings in the food and the money. Upon the return of his father, she is

A Experiment On Separation And Purification Methods
This experiment introduces separation and purification methods used in research quite frequently.
These methods include hot vacuum filtration and recrystallization to purify a crude sample of
acetanilide containing two impurities. Recrystallization is a very common method that is used to
purify solids. This process dissolves a crude solid with impurities in a mildly boiling solvent, and
cooling down the mixture afterwards for crystals to reconstruct themselves in solution. This method
allows impurities to separate and remain in solution as precipitate or remain uniform in solution.
Solids are more soluble in hot solvents than in cold ones, allowing maximum dissolution for proper
separation and subsequent crystallization to occur. After purifying the compound, the melting point is
determined using the Mel Temp technology to compare to the written melting point to see how pure
the sample truly is. The proper steps of recrystallization include selecting a solvent that fits the
characteristic of all the components, water in this experiment. Then, dissolving a crude sample in the
chosen solvent (at or close to the solvent boiling point), forming solid in the solution as cooling takes
place, using vacuum filtration to isolate the purified solid, ridding the crystals of all impurities through
drying. In this experiment, recrystallization allows purification of 150 mg of crude acetanilide. Hot
vacuum filtration is a process used. The process requires using a filter flask, Pasteur

Turning Copper Pennies Into Gold Essay

off the concept of alchemy, where scientists attempted to turn common metals like lead and copper

chemical change as the sodium zincate formed, and a physical change as it coated the penny, a new
substance was not formed. When the penny was heated over the bunsen burner flame the zinc and
copper combine to form the metallic mixture brass. This process was a chemical change as the copper
and zinc melted together to form a new substance. Copper is a substitutional alloy, meaning that
because the elements Zinc and Copper are close to each other on the periodic table, they are similar in
size and can easily exchange atoms (zinc gives to copper). We could have tested whether or not the
substance was gold by measuring the density of the penny, or by applying nitric acid to the penny and
looking for signs of oxidization, but it was easy to observe that there was no miraculous change from
copper to gold. In conclusion, my hypothesis that the pennies wouldn t turn into gold, but rather a
copper alloy was correct. The substance actually created was not gold but brass, a copper and zinc

The Ramayana Is Not Just A Story
The Ramayana is a Sanskrit epic poem ascribed to the Hindu sage and Sanskrit poet Valmiki. The
Ramayana also plays an important role in Hindu literature . It depicts the duties of relationships,
portraying ideal characters like the ideal father, the ideal servant, the ideal brother, the ideal wife, and
the ideal king. The name Ramayana is a tatpurusha compound of and , translating to Rama s Journey .
The Ramayana consists of 24,000 verses in seven books and 500 cantos, and tells the story of Rama,
whose wife Sita is abducted by Ravana, the king of Lanka . Incidentally the first letter of every 1000
verses make the Gayatri mantra. Thematically, the Ramayana explores human values and the concept
of dharma.
Verses in the Ramayana are written in a 32 syllable meter called . The Ramayana was an important
influence on later Sanskrit poetry and Hindu life and culture. Like the Mahabharata, the Ramayana is
not just a story: it presents the teachings of ancient Hindu sages in narrative allegory, interspersing
philosophical and devotional elements. The characters Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Bharata, Hanuman, and
Ravana are all fundamental to the cultural consciousness of India, Nepal, and many south east Asian
countries such as Thailand and Indonesia.
There are other versions of the Ramayana in Indian languages, besides Buddhist and Jain adaptations;
and also Cambodian, Indonesian, Filipino, Thai, Lao, Burmese, and Malaysian versions of the tale.

Manley Pointer In Flannery O Connor s Good Country People
Manley Pointer, the antagonist of Flannery O Connor s Good Country People, is a character of
multiple dimensions. He is considered a good country people by many of the characters in the
beginning of the short story, including Hulga. However, by the end, it is revealed that he is not a
reputable person, and is rather the opposite of the persona he portrays himself. Manley believes that he
must act this way in order to make a living. There is a root cause to his flawed rational that must be
uncovered, although some would argue that he is only a simple character and has no root cause to
explain his behavior. However, Manley s past is extremely influential to his actions and the person he
claims to be. Manley s actions indicate two different personas that are conflicting. In the beginning
Manley presents as a simple character that is only interested in selling Bibles. He talks with Mrs.
Hopewell and creates a friendly environment around himself that influences how the other characters
view him. Through this alternate persona, he is able to trick the other characters into thinking that he
is a sweet, innocent young man. Believing in this act, Hulga and the other characters are ... Show more

Critical Thinking In 12 Angry Men
The 1957 movie version of 12 Angry Men, brings twelve people together with different personalities
and experiences to discuss the fate of a young boy that allegedly killed his father. At the very
beginning, many agree that the boy is guilty except for one man. Juror #8 votes not guilty and pushes
to have the evidence talked through. After reviewing all the evidence carefully, the tables turned from
guilty to not guilty. Each juror brought different experiences and personalities to the jury room. The
two that were forceful with their opinions and their reasonings to decide either way we re jurors #8
and #3. According to the book From Critical Thinking to Argument by Sylvan Barnet and Hugo
Bedau, the term critical thinking means checking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juror #3 loses his temper and eventually breaks down and says not guilty. It is not until the end of the
film that the audience fully understands why Juror #3 is hostile and angry. He hinted earlier in the
movie that his son and he got into a fight and his son left. This anger that he shows through the movie
is the anger that he has for his son leaving. Because of this anger, he does not think critically. He heard
the basic facts and made his decision off of that. Without questioning the evidence, he is quick to form
an opinion and defend it despite the other details presented by the other jurors. He lacks the ability to
successfully critically think because he does not analyze the evidence nor does he present his own
arguments skillfully. He only defends his stance based off of personal pathos which hinders his ability
to critically think. Juror #8 was much more successful with his critical thinking since the beginning of
the movie. He was the only one of the jurors that voted not guilty. He expressed that it s not easy to
raise my hand and send a boy off to die without talking about it first, when he is being pressed by the
others as to why he did not vote guilty. This is the first step he takes to get the others to talk and think
about the case. He uses the idea that supposing we re wrong , when talking about the

How Did Benjamin Harrison s Legacy Change
Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd president of the United States of America. He was also the third
president who lost the popular vote, but won through the electoral college. This makes us question,
was Benjamin Harrison the man who deserved to win? How would his legacy change? Benjamin
Harrison was born on August 20, 1833 in North Bend, Ohio. He was born into a family of strong
political history, which ensured a path in politics if he wished. His grandfather, William Henry
Harrison, was a leader in the political field and would later become the 9th president of the U.S.A..

During the Vietnam War Era
During the Vietnam War era, the United States and other democratic and free nations were fearful of
communism spreading to more parts of the world. They fought two world wars to protect freedom,
and to contain the communist movements. The foreign policy of the United States evolved to that of a
pre emptive type strike on the possibility of communism surfacing and threatening free countries.
Harry S. Truman began to theorize that if a communist nation took over a non communist state, then
neighboring countries would also fall. This became known as the domino effect, and was the foreign
policy that Dwight D. Eisenhower applied to countries in South East Asia in the 1950s. The United

1968, the Tet Offensive occurred, in which dozens of populous South Vietnam cities were severely

American public, who were told victory was near. The disgust with the war grew more day by day in
the hearts of the American public. By this time, Richard Nixon entered the office of president.
Coupled with growing sentiment for a war some thought would never end, Nixon began drawing

Summary Of Trophic Cascades In A Great Lakes Forest
The Summary of Trophic Cascades in a Great Lakes Forest This investigative study included whether
gray wolves, a natural top predator to white tailed deer, create a trophic effect by reducing the deer
and how it may affect saplings and vegetation in the Great Lakes forest area. The study was not
conducted for direct kills, instead it was done to see the effects of the deer population and the plant
and vegetation systems surrounding them. The expected effects were that in areas where wolves are
less dense in the region it causes an increase of deer having a negative impact on plants and vegetation
in the surrounding area. The recolonization of wolves in the area is generating trait meditated effects

Scat surveys of the area were conducted to support the collar information. Other information such as
droppings, siting s, and tracks were also recorded and grouped with the surveys. Motion activated and
infrared cameras were used to monitor deer activity in the areas of high or low wolf presence. Three
images per trigger of each camera was taken. This information was gathered over a three week period
during deer season in June August. The information recorded was compared with other studies
including a trophic cascades study in the Rocky Mountains area. The results showed differences in
deer presence (in either high or low areas) in correlation with wolf presence, resulting in impacts of
plant and vegetation density in the areas. High wolf areas contained larger saplings and vegetation
diversity and comparisons of deer presence in low wolf presence areas had negative impacts on
sapling growth. Put together, the results suggest that wolves have a substantial effect on white tailed
deer and a positive impact on sapling and vegetation growth in the Great Lakes forest area. These
results supported previous research that wolves have density and/or trait meditated effects on white
tailed deer. They also provide experimental and manipulated support for previous experiments
suggesting that wolves generate trophic cascades affecting sapling and vegetation growth in various
regions, as well as the Great Lakes forest area. The

The Human Heart
The human heart is slightly bigger than the size of ones fist. It is situated at a very safe place which is
between the cage bones, i.e., in the center of the chest. Usually it is slightly on the left side of the chest
but in rare cases, it can be found on the right side. Heart is responsible for the blood flow to every
single part of the body by constant contraction and relaxation of cardiac muscles. This is the reason
why we hear rhythmic beats all the time. Heart pumps the pure blood to the different parts of the body
and then takes the deoxygenated blood from all the parts to the lungs for oxygenation. Normally in a
minute the heart beats 72 times. Well, let s check out heart diagram for kids as well as for adults which

This maintains a proper one directional blood flow through out the process. Bicuspid valve is present
between the left atrium and left ventricle whereas tricuspid valve is present between the right atrium
and right ventricle. Pulmonary valve behaves as a gate which stops the back flow of blood from right
ventricle to the pulmonary artery which takes the deoxygenated blood to the lungs for purification.
Lastly the aortic valve, this valve plays an important role in stopping the back flow of the blood from
left ventricle to the aorta. Once the blood is transferred to the aorta it supplies the oxygenated blood to
different parts of the body.
Blood Vessels
Blood vessels are the blood carriers in a human body. These play a very vital role in the supply of
blood to various parts of the body. Blood vessels can be of two types, veins and arteries. All the veins
(except pulmonary vein) are involved in carrying the deoxygenated blood from various parts of the
body to the heart whereas all the arteries (except pulmonary artery) are involved in supplying
oxygenated blood from the heart to different parts of the body.

Hall, A. H., Leveritt, M. D., Ahuja, K. D., Shing, C. M. (2013). Coingestion of carbohydrate and
protein during training reduces training stress and enhances subsequent exercise performance. Applied
Physiology, Nutrition Metabolism, 38(6), 597 604.
Despite extensive research on the benefits of carbohydrate (CHO) ingestion improving endurance
performance, there are still a lot of questions in the literature about whether or not the simultaneous
ingestion of CHO and protein is advantageous compared to other methods in enhancing performance
(Hall et al., 2013). According to Hall and colleagues (2013), there have been an number of studies that
have shown potentially performance enhancing benefits of co ingestion of protein and CHO such as
enhanced glycogen synthesis post exercise, decreased muscle soreness, muscle damage, positive net
protein balance, and even modest performance benefits (Hall et al., 2013).
Purpose. Hall and colleagues (2013) looked to determine the potential impact of protein and CHO co
ingestion has compared to isoenergetic CHO beverage during exercise . Specifically, Hall and
colleagues (2013) wanted to explore the impact that consumption of such a beverage would have on
cycling performance after a four hour rest period. Also, the impact that consumption would have on
blood plasma markers of muscle damage and muscle soreness, as well as insulin and glucose levels

Film Industry Research Paper
The moving picture was created from a desire to expand our perceptions. The motion picture industry
was a necessary born from a simple format. With the advent of photography between 1816 and 1818
by Frenchman Joseph Niepce, there was a desire for movement which made cinema inevitable. The
first known images were fuzzy images on mental plates. Louis Daguerre also noted as pioneer of
photography; inception of film followed 50 years later. Hollywood, the modern well oiled machine it
is today started with soundless films with no story or plot. The first phase of films only focused on
movement. Overtime, directors grew a desire to create stories, not just random action. Storytelling
began in the early 1900s. In 1903 Edwin Porters created The Great Train Robbery , one of the first
feature action films. Porter told a story of a robbery, chase and inevitable capture of the bad guys.
What short films are today, they were the feature films of yesterday. It was average that a film would
be 5 8 minutes. With the advancement of technology films did get longer, but directecdtors could only
produce one reelers. Filmmakers had to cram an entire movie on one short reel of film. With the
adaption of telling stories, movies goers were mesmerized with the magic and form of film. Only a

Winds That Influence Ocean Currents
Winds, water density, and tides all drive ocean currents. Coastal and sea floor features influence their
location, direction, and speed. Earth s rotation results in the Coriolis Effect which also influences
ocean currents and any moving mass as long as it moves, so water in a gyre might be expected to
curve to the center of The North Atlantic and stop. Winds and ocean waters get deflected from a
straight line path as they travel across the rotating Earth. This phenomenon causes ocean currents in
the Northern Hemisphere to veer to the right and in the Southern Hemisphere to the left. The deep

or harmful? I. Introduction Noel Sharkey has warned us that the widespread availability of service
robots has resulted from several developments that allowed robots to become mobile, interactive
machines (Sharkey 358). Robots have become a necessity for people today rather than just for science
fiction or manufacturing processes, but lately we wonder whether or not if it s safe to put our faith in
the hands of cold machinery. Today, robots have been known to provide care for our children and the
perhaps even the elderly. They even provide service to our men in combat. However, it doesn t change

2.1: Caring for Children? Sharkey explains the advantage points of his argument by explaining how
the Japanese and South Korean companies are creating child like robots that can be good for video
game playing, conducting verbal quiz game, speech recognition, face recognition, and conversation
(Sharkey 358). He describes how robots have the ability to provide alerts when children move out of
range. However, he brings up a crucial point in their programming on how robots can t provide the
proper care that human adults can give to their kids including: contact, touch and caring from other
humans. Though robots can provide safety, children may not have contact with other humans for days,
which according to Sharkey, can cause a psychological impact of the varying degrees of social
isolation (358). His claim was based on animal studies. For example, during an experiment with
monkeys, according to Sharkey, severe social dysfunction occurs in infant animals that are allowed to
develop attachments only to inanimate surrogates (358). Like a child would do with a robot, the
monkeys would grow too attached and their behavior would likely change. People today need to
realize that they need to reconsider the idea of having robots care for their kids and start being the
responsible ones. 2.2: Caring for Elderly? To provide his argument on whether or not to entrust robots
with the elderly, Sharkey uses examples of robots like this, Secom, an automatic

different shift patterns. This group will mainly include emergency room physicians, and emergency
patients. Any doctor who is a medical director for an EMS service will be excluded from the survey to
disregard any potential bias(Bowen, 2009).
The importance of identifying the population is to observe the patients in the different EMS hospitals
for observation that provide different problems of patients. The purpose of identifying the population
is to observe that EMS professionals are required to have a good kind of leadership to take better and
effective control of financial matters of EMS organization so that EMS organization could be able to
achieve the mission of handling emergency care(Sandelowski, 1995).
There are different methods involved for identifying the proper population. The best way is to
examine research question and applied on specific population. As in the case of the EMS professionals
are required to have a good kind of leadership to take better and effective control of financial matters
of EMS organization so that EMS organization could be able to achieve the mission of handling
emergency care , the population involves the observation of the EMS specialist in the hospitals. The
purpose is to examine their leadership to get better and effective control of financial matters.

Christian Beliefs On Abortion
Most Christians believe that the Bible is the word of God. Since they believe this, and since they
believe the Bible is true, many Christians take a biblical worldview position on the issue of abortion.
Christians value God s commandments in the Bible. They believe the Bible tells them what is right
and what is wrong. Since Christians hold the Bible to be their moral standard, that life begins at
conception, and that murder is wrong in the Bible, their value judgement is that abortion is morally
wrong. They take the moral stance that the Bible has religious authority from God and that they
should follow that authority and use it to make decisions on what is right and wrong. The Bible clearly
explains that it is morally impermissible to murder someone. The ten commandments, which ... Show

Lastly, Christians believe that their view of children should be consistent with that of Jesus . Jesus did
not believe that babies were inconvenient in any way. For instance, Jesus was preaching and people
were bringing their babies to Jesus to be blessed. The disciples sent the parents away because they
believed it was an inconvenience to Jesus. However, Jesus rebuked the disciples and welcomed the
children (Luke 18: 15 17). This shows that, to Jesus, children were not an inconvenience. Christians
believe that since they should model themselves after Jesus, and Jesus did not see children as
inconvenient, that it is wrong to get an abortion simply because it may be convenient, which is the
main reason people get abortions today. Christians who hold the biblical worldview of abortion
believe that abortion is morally wrong because the Bible is given the authority by God to tell them
what is right and wrong and from a biblical standpoint, abortion is wrong. Since the bible says that it
is wrong to murder, that life begins at conception, that killing the innocent is wrong, and that
Christians are supposed to be like Christ, the Biblical worldview stance is that

Argumentative Essay
A Dead Man is Good for Nothing In 1995 Duane Buck was convicted for the murder of his former
girlfriend Debra Gardner and her friend Kenneth Butler. He was sentenced to death in 1997 and his
case should definitely not be taken lightly, but Buck was given the death penalty over life in prison
because of the fact that he was an African American. A state psychologist in his case, Dr. Quijano,
argued that African American criminals are more susceptible to pose a future danger to the public, and
this was the key testimony that the prosecutor relied on. Since then, his case has not been reopened. It
was later admitted by a district attorney at the time of Buck s case that African American jurors were
routinely dismissed by prosecutors. In 2011, his lawyer argued that he deserved a new sentencing
hearing without tainted prejudicial testimony, but his request was ultimately denied and they
continued with the set execution date. The death penalty is prejudice and goes against all religious
beliefs, but death overall is a cruel and unusual punishment and should not be used as a form of
punishment by the government. Despite the fact that African Americans make up to just over thirteen
percent of the nation s population, more than forty percent of those currently on the federal death row
are African American. Many may say or believe that the justice system is fair or honorable but the

Unions Struggle With Outsourcing
POSSIBLE INTRODUCTION Today Unions have a feud with outsourcing, the union employees are
losing their once thought secure job to outsourcing. This is due to a company s drive to increase
profits, decisions of lower wage and job loss occurs. When a US company s looks for other options of
employment, it usually come down to outsourcing, subcontracting, and privatization, these options
that companies take to increase profit. Union job security isn t always so secure, often union contracts
discuss the effects outsourcing, but not make the decision to layoff an employee in favor of
outsourcing. However this contract makes union workers bargain over their jobs, by lowering their
wages and if they do not agree with the bargain then the companies are able to layoff employee, and
replaces them with outsourcing. Unions are able to fight these companies for an agreement to be
made, for instance, if a union as a whole decides to agree with these new terms of lower wages, the
company is unable to let the employees go. Instead the unions will agree to terms with their jobs being
taken away and sent overseas, unions often lobby to retaliate their termination. US LOBBYING The

The Negative Effects Of Zero Earthquavity On Humans
Zero gravity can be something fun to experience, but it can also have some bad effects on humans.
Zero gravity or weightlessness happens when the effects of gravity are not experienced. Humans have
been experiencing zero gravity since the year 1961 when Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the
first human to travel to space. Zero gravity has became something humans experience for fun. For
example there is a company called Zero G and they they allow people to pay money to go up in a
plane and experience zero gravity. Even though some people find Zero gravity as a experience of a
lifetime, it can also have some bad effects on humans. The International Space Station is in constant
freefall above Earth. It s forward motion is just about equal to the speed it falls to earth. This allows
the astronauts inside to experience zero gravity. One function of The International Space Station is to
test the long term effects that zero gravity has on the human body. It was a huge focus for the first one
year long mission where astronauts were in zero gravity for one year straight. (space.com) NASA uses
astronauts to determine the effects of zero gravity on humans. They send them to the International
Space Station for long period at a time. Just recently Scott Kelly and Mikhail Kornienko were the first
humans to spend one consecutive year in space. NASA used them to test the effects of zero gravity on
humans. They used that information to help determine how humans would react to zero

responsibility and temperament towards treating them like an adult. For one to be considered an adult
in my family that person must first act like an adult, and be responsible for themselves. The fact that
someone can drive or has a job does not make them an adult, what would make them an adult is more
of an unspoken agreement where we no longer must worry about them needing our parents help. I am
not sure that the rest of my family has this perspective on when they become an adult, but this is my
own personal rite of passage and I would not consider a sibling an adult unless they could do so. I
consider the usual rituals, such as getting a license, going to high school, dating, and getting a job to
be more of a step up a ladder where adulthood is at the top. I have siblings that have done all that, but
I do not consider them an adult and I do not think my parents treat them like it either. I believe a
person must earn their rites of passage through responsibility, compassion, and independence.
Responsibility is an attribute I consider important to be an adult. What other people may consider their
rite of passage into adulthood, I think of as small lessons to being responsible. Driving a car is fun and
allows for a whole new spectrum of freedom, but it also shows that a person must learn how to be
responsible by driving safely and taking care of their vehicle. My parents granted me

Hyundai s Ad Analysis
The modern human being s life is continuously flooded by advertising. Ads surround society in
everything a person does, from watching television to listening to the radio, or even walking down the
street. These advertisements range from celebrity promotions to home goods products and everything
in between, all for the sake of convincing people to pick their product over another competitors
product. When a deeper look is taken at these advertisements, one will find that they are not merely
just selling a car or a box of cereal. In actuality, companies along with their product, are trying
subtlely to sell cultural stereotypes, beliefs and trends. Within their advertisement, Hyundai effectively
uses graphics, language and argument to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hyundai not only focuses on where their ad will be placed but they also focus on who their audience
will be. Sports Illustrated reaches the particular audience of male sports fans, of which most can be
placed into the upper and middle social classes. For the purpose of this advertisement, Hyundai
specifically targeted football fans, especially NFL fans. Since the majority of the subscribers are in the
upper and middle class, due to their ability to afford the expense of the magazine, they are able to
spend their money on more luxurious items such as a car. Therefore, a car advertisement is reasonable
considering the audience s demographics. Considering the readers interests and social class Hyundai s
placement of their advertisement in Sports Illustrated has rational because of its placement and its
ability to connect with a certain audience.
To sell a product companies will use certain colors to evoke particular emotions from their targeted
audience. Hyundai s uses different shades of grey and black throughout their advertisement, including
a black model of the car and a grey and black sky. When used in advertising, black normally represents
sophistication or luxury, while grey is typically a neutral or calm color (Ciotti). Therefore, the color
black will make readers more likely to interpret the 2012 Hyundai Genesis R Spec as a luxurious and
sophisticated car. The incorporation of grey

Masters Of Business Administration Financial Management Swati Sharma Masters of Business Administration Financial Management BUSM 5534 Northwest University Garrett Young April 27, 2015 (Due: April 27, 2015 6:00pm) Humans are the most varied, problematic yet necessary resource for any organization and to handle their needs and requirements could be a challenge for any organization. For this, the organizations have the HR department who take care all the issues. From finding the most suitable candidate to provide training, taking care of paying issues, providing opportunities to grow, HR department does it all. According to our textbook, Human Resource Management is designing formal systems in an organization to manage human talent for accomplishing organizational goals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Problems: As written in the case study, earlier the SYSCO operating regions had conducted their own HR practices without consulting the HR department. This was the big problem and could have led to negative impact on company s growth. Cooperation between operating managers and the HR department is extremely important for HR efforts to succeed. HR also known as employee advocates or company morale officers who serves all employee issues or concerns with managing organization s strategies and goals. But without the HR advocate role, there could be a risk for employer to face lawsuits and other regulatory complaints. Another problem in the SYSCO case study was the safety. Workplace safety and security has grown in importance along with disaster and recovery planning. Also, with explosive internet growth, many employees and managers uses social media such as wikis, blogs, tweets and other techniques. Though it is extremely helpful, but still the risk of social media is apparent. This could lead to many problems such as leakage of trade secrets, potential customers information and privacy of all the employees. Increase in safety issues resulted in increase of compensation claims by workers or other agencies. A high turnover rate of night shift warehouse workers was another problem faced by the SYSCO. Recruiting new workers regularly has become a big challenge for SYSCO. Another problem was related to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Feminist Perspective On Women All across the world women are being discriminated against for their gender. Feminism is the movement to combat this. Though there are many misconstructions to what being a feminist means, Webster s Dictionary defines feminism as the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. Feminism is not about one gender being above the other but allowing both to be equal in all ways. Sexism is expressed in varies different ways. In countries like America, the sexism faced is shown through things such as the wage gap and gender roles. In other countries, however, such as Indian and China, the sexism faced is more extreme and the women are in more sever danger. Some people do not believe there is a need for a feminist movement, and that women have equal rights. One huge issue that women face is the wage gap. People argue that laws such as the Equal Pay Act has gotten rid of the need for women s suffrage, but a wage gap still exists. For every dollar a man makes, the average white woman makes 78 cents. African American women make 64 cents and Hispanic women averagely make a mere 56 cents to the man s dollar. Something that affects women s earnings is lower work hours and their years with zero earnings due to family care. Women workers in their prime earning years earned 62% less than men, or only $0.38 for every dollar men earned. During that 15 year period, the average woman earned only $273,592 while the average man earned $722,693 (in 1999 dollars). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is explaining most of what Hayes means inside of his poem. Dear Ol Dirty Bastard: I too like it raw, I don t especially care for Duke Ellington at a birthday party. I care less and less. The reader can see how Hayes uses allusions that most stereotypes would connect a racial group to in this case Hayes is black so readers or anyone in society would think he listens to the people he listed in the beginning of the line. He s practically saying that this is something expected for him to do but he doesn t really care for what people can assume him for. • 5. The Heart Of Cardiac Muscle Essay INTRODUCTION The cardiac muscle, more commonly known as the heart muscle, is quite different from the more familiar know skeletal muscle. Unlike skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle is able to conduct its own electrical impulses allowing it to contract and relax spontaneously without being told to by the brain or any other organ (Marieb, Mitchell, p. 512). This is due to the constant leakage of sodium ions into the mainly potassium filled cells which then eventually lead to action potentials causing the heart to beat rhythmically (Mariev, Mitchell, p.512) this rhythm is more commonly referred to as one s heartbeat. From this BIOPAC laboratory, the student(s) should learn how different stimuli will affect a resting heart rate. Due to the fact that cardiac muscle is able to create action potentials on its own, a change in chemical, temperature, and ionic balance causes the heart to react differently and change its rhythm of beats by either slowing down or speeding up. More specifically, by saturating the heart with histamine the heart rate should speed up, while pilocarpine will cause the heart to substantially slow, and finally the addition of epinephrine will cause the resting heart rate to speed up. Benefits Of European Union s Membership The Benefits of European Union s Membership Thuat Nguyen Professor Padula University of California, Santa Barbara Ital 161AX December 15, 2014 1.Introduction Since the beginning of recent crisis, the consideration of becoming European Union s member for its benefits has been the main focus for many countries. As the incident of WWII proclaimed the shattered of European economy, many country s economic system could not recovered on their own. Many evidences were obtained and analyzed from countries that became members during EU enlargement. The EU on average would gain around 1⁄2 percent of real GDP over a six year period. However, the impact is quite different in the separate EU member states (Breuss 2001). Even though the problems are varies among different countries, whether they are stabled or are in the process of development, researches have shown that the benefits providing to EU members cause major rises in the economy. And the process of becoming EU member is effortless compared to the overwhelming benefits that they received. Therefore the main argument of this paper is: can growth and productivity be different when a country decides whether or not to join the EU? The delay in the process of widening and deepening are due to the insufficient resources and unmet conditions of smaller countries. By understanding the benefits of becoming EU member, those countries would be more aware of what they are lacking. Utilizing the EU benefits would increase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rosin begins her argument by describing her own experiences when her sons were circumcised and the anger she felt when hearing them howl in pain. However, she follows this up with an acknowledgment that the feeling quickly dissipated once her sons were completely healed. Rosin then goes on to describe many of the benefits of circumcision, focusing in on the health aspect. • 11. Importance Of Birth Registration In Nigeria The vital registration system of birth registration in Nigeria is weak. Although birth registration is required under Nigerian law, only about 30% of all children in Nigeria are officially registered. Birth registration is recognized as a human right and is greatly associated with the social determinants of health. A child who does not get registered at birth faces threats to their safety, health and welfare. The health workforce and information system building blocks of Nigeria s health system pose challenges to ensuring universal birth registration. There is currently a health workforce crisis in Nigeria and there are not enough human or financial resources to register Nigeria s large youth population. In addition, the information system is inefficient and unnecessarily bureaucratic. Currently, the NPC uses a paper based multi step system that is highly inefficient. There is also a general lack of awareness of the birth registration requirement, importance and benefits in Nigeria. The program presented in this grant proposal aims to address these bottle necks by implementing a nationwide mobile vitals registration system in conjunction with training CHWs in rural areas to educate community members about birth registration and forming village registries that can be used to register births with the NPC. • 12. View Of Justice Reflected By Amazing Grace Essay Thrasymachan View of Justice Reflected in Amazing Grace In the Republic, Socrates starts the discussion with the definition of justice. When Thrasymachus angrily interrupts and gives his own definition, he in fact takes an opposite view on justice and argues that injustice is more advantageous and profitable. Glaucon and Adiemantus further develop Thrasymachus view with a theory of the nature and the origins of justice and claim that justice is desired only for the sake of rewards. In Amazing Grace, injustice happens every day at every corner of Mott Haven, yet there are still a lot of citizens trying to lead a just life. In the conflict between the authorities and the Mott Haven citizens, the ceaseless injustice in Mott Haven, and some people s just acts, Thrasymachan view of justice is reflected. To start with, Thrasymachus argues that it is profitable to act unjustly and harmful to act justly. When Thrasymachus first defines justice as nothing other than the advantage of the stronger, he refers to the ruler, which is the stronger, and the ruled (Plato, 338c). In this context, he believes that the ruling party in any type of regime tyranny, democracy, or aristocracy makes laws to its own advantage and defines the acts to its disadvantage as unjust (338d 339a). For the subjects it is just to obey the laws and serve the ruler s interest, so if there is a conflict between the interests of the ruler and the subjects, the ruler seeks what benefits itself through laws ... When the world celebrated the 7 billionth baby s birth in Manila a few years back, we were stepping in a society with noticeable population explosion. Those overpopulated societies which can no longer sustain themselves invade the natural environment which belongs to wildlife and over exploit natural resources for survival. Human beings are supposed to be responsible for the majority of environmental problems, while overpopulation exacerbates most problems such as pollution, deforestation, global warming, etc. Thus, to save the world from those environmental crises we should attach more importance on the people that cause them rather than just reply on developing technology to fix the problem its own. Managing the population through education and birth control policy is what we can do with global joint efforts. Reminding the public of our population problem, providing an option of birth control to families and guiding the public to live sustainably will slow down the population growth, and hopefully in the long sense reduce world s population. Most importantly, such declining population which owns greener lifestyle creates a benign and harmonious relationship with the planet. The UNICEF estimates that an average of 353,000 babies are born each day; this means a baby is born to the world every two seconds. Mark Twain Sustainability, the ability to create an enduring system, is a critical factor in the evaluation of an industry. The health of the transportation industry and specifically the railroad industry depends on the industry s ability to sustain its business model in the face of resource challenges. A key driver of rail sustainability is the infrastructure, the rails, switches, yards and turnouts that the railroad industry uses when moving goods from source to destination. Both the government and the individual railroads are investing heavily in infrastructure projects, and have chosen different targets for improving the health of the railroad system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The passage of the Rail Passenger Service Act in 1970 led to the formation of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak), and the railroads were given the opportunity to divest their passenger rail service and focus on freight service. A second boon to the railroad industry occurred in 1980 with the passage of the Staggers Act. The Staggers Act significantly reduced the ability of the Interstate Commerce Commission to regulate shipping rates, allowed the railroads to divest unprofitable lines, and legalized railroad shipper contracts. The combined results of these two major legislative policy actions were to revive what was a failing railroad industry. In fact, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has twice been asked by shippers to investigate freight railroad shipping rates since the passage of the Staggers Act, in 1999 and 2002. Both times, the GAO found that rates generally had decreased to a greater extent than rates for shipments without such alternatives. In these cases, at least, effective regulation resulted in a healthy industry. The freight rail industry in the U.S. is so healthy now, that a comparison of U.S. freight rates to those in other industrialized nations shows the U.S. to have the lowest rates in the world, as depicted in the chart above. • 16. Simulation Pricing Strategy My project this summer was to create a pricing strategy for a simulation that would return the maximum frequency of pictures spread evenly across a given number of locations. I began by implementing a simple simulation in which I used Math.Random() to repeatedly generate a number between zero and thirty, thirty being the set number of locations. I then used the random number generated as an array index and increased the picture count in the location that the number corresponded to by one. Each location had a set price so all I did was generate location indexes until the budget was met. After I finished this very basic simulation, I started contemplating my project focus which was the pricing strategy I needed to implement. One of the original ideas suggested to me was the Poisson Distribution in which I could model the simulation as number of pictures taken over a period of time. I could then allocate more or less of the budget to a time slot based on how many pictures were taken in the previous time period. The issues I had when attempting to model this distribution were: It proved rather difficult to model the simulation based on previous pictures taken, because regardless of this information when I distributed the budget I had no way of ... Though the autobiography captures copious personal struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. • 22. A Experiment On Separation And Purification Methods This experiment introduces separation and purification methods used in research quite frequently. These methods include hot vacuum filtration and recrystallization to purify a crude sample of acetanilide containing two impurities. Recrystallization is a very common method that is used to purify solids. This process dissolves a crude solid with impurities in a mildly boiling solvent, and cooling down the mixture afterwards for crystals to reconstruct themselves in solution. This method allows impurities to separate and remain in solution as precipitate or remain uniform in solution. Solids are more soluble in hot solvents than in cold ones, allowing maximum dissolution for proper separation and subsequent crystallization to occur. After purifying the compound, the melting point is determined using the Mel Temp technology to compare to the written melting point to see how pure the sample truly is. The proper steps of recrystallization include selecting a solvent that fits the characteristic of all the components, water in this experiment. Then, dissolving a crude sample in the chosen solvent (at or close to the solvent boiling point), forming solid in the solution as cooling takes place, using vacuum filtration to isolate the purified solid, ridding the crystals of all impurities through drying. In this experiment, recrystallization allows purification of 150 mg of crude acetanilide. Hot vacuum filtration is a process used. The process requires using a filter flask, Pasteur ... Nixon withdrew troops down in a process called Vietnamization , which included training and providing weapons and resources to the South Vietnamese to hold their ground with less and less American troop intervention. On March 29th, 1973 the last American military unit left Vietnam. Fighting in the country continued, but American forces were no longer involved. Summary Of Trophic Cascades In A Great Lakes Forest The Summary of Trophic Cascades in a Great Lakes Forest This investigative study included whether gray wolves, a natural top predator to white tailed deer, create a trophic effect by reducing the deer and how it may affect saplings and vegetation in the Great Lakes forest area. The study was not conducted for direct kills, instead it was done to see the effects of the deer population and the plant and vegetation systems surrounding them. The expected effects were that in areas where wolves are less dense in the region it causes an increase of deer having a negative impact on plants and vegetation in the surrounding area. Scat surveys of the area were conducted to support the collar information. Other information such as droppings, siting s, and tracks were also recorded and grouped with the surveys. Motion activated and infrared cameras were used to monitor deer activity in the areas of high or low wolf presence. Three images per trigger of each camera was taken. This information was gathered over a three week period during deer season in June August. The information recorded was compared with other studies including a trophic cascades study in the Rocky Mountains area. The results showed differences in deer presence (in either high or low areas) in correlation with wolf presence, resulting in impacts of plant and vegetation density in the areas. High wolf areas contained larger saplings and vegetation diversity and comparisons of deer presence in low wolf presence areas had negative impacts on sapling growth. Put together, the results suggest that wolves have a substantial effect on white tailed deer and a positive impact on sapling and vegetation growth in the Great Lakes forest area. These results supported previous research that wolves have density and/or trait meditated effects on white tailed deer. They also provide experimental and manipulated support for previous experiments suggesting that wolves generate trophic cascades affecting sapling and vegetation growth in various regions, as well as the Great Lakes forest area. Usually it is slightly on the left side of the chest but in rare cases, it can be found on the right side. Heart is responsible for the blood flow to every single part of the body by constant contraction and relaxation of cardiac muscles. This is the reason why we hear rhythmic beats all the time. Heart pumps the pure blood to the different parts of the body and then takes the deoxygenated blood from all the parts to the lungs for oxygenation. Normally in a minute the heart beats 72 times. Lastly the aortic valve, this valve plays an important role in stopping the back flow of the blood from left ventricle to the aorta. Once the blood is transferred to the aorta it supplies the oxygenated blood to different parts of the body. Blood Vessels Blood vessels are the blood carriers in a human body. Coingestion of carbohydrate and protein during training reduces training stress and enhances subsequent exercise performance. Applied Physiology, Nutrition Metabolism, 38(6), 597 604. Despite extensive research on the benefits of carbohydrate (CHO) ingestion improving endurance performance, there are still a lot of questions in the literature about whether or not the simultaneous ingestion of CHO and protein is advantageous compared to other methods in enhancing performance (Hall et al., 2013). According to Hall and colleagues (2013), there have been an number of studies that have shown potentially performance enhancing benefits of co ingestion of protein and CHO such as enhanced glycogen synthesis post exercise, decreased muscle soreness, muscle damage, positive net protein balance, and even modest performance benefits (Hall et al., 2013). Purpose. Hall and colleagues (2013) looked to determine the potential impact of protein and CHO co ingestion has compared to isoenergetic CHO beverage during exercise . Specifically, Hall and colleagues (2013) wanted to explore the impact that consumption of such a beverage would have on cycling performance after a four hour rest period. With the advent of photography between 1816 and 1818 by Frenchman Joseph Niepce, there was a desire for movement which made cinema inevitable. Robots have become a necessity for people today rather than just for science fiction or manufacturing processes, but lately we wonder whether or not if it s safe to put our faith in the hands of cold machinery. Sharkey explains the advantage points of his argument by explaining how the Japanese and South Korean companies are creating child like robots that can be good for video game playing, conducting verbal quiz game, speech recognition, face recognition, and conversation (Sharkey 358). He describes how robots have the ability to provide alerts when children move out of range. However, he brings up a crucial point in their programming on how robots can t provide the proper care that human adults can give to their kids including: contact, touch and caring from other humans. Though robots can provide safety, children may not have contact with other humans for days, which according to Sharkey, can cause a psychological impact of the varying degrees of social isolation (358). His claim was based on animal studies. For example, during an experiment with monkeys, according to Sharkey, severe social dysfunction occurs in infant animals that are allowed to develop attachments only to inanimate surrogates (358). Like a child would do with a robot, the monkeys would grow too attached and their behavior would likely change. People today need to realize that they need to reconsider the idea of having robots care for their kids and start being the responsible ones. 2.2: Caring for Elderly? A Dead Man Is Good For Nothing Alexandra Hernandez English 1A Mr. Gejeian 5 July, 2015 Argumentative Essay A Dead Man is Good for Nothing In 1995 Duane Buck was convicted for the murder of his former girlfriend Debra Gardner and her friend Kenneth Butler. He was sentenced to death in 1997 and his case should definitely not be taken lightly, but Buck was given the death penalty over life in prison because of the fact that he was an African American. A state psychologist in his case, Dr. Quijano, argued that African American criminals are more susceptible to pose a future danger to the public, and this was the key testimony that the prosecutor relied on. Since then, his case has not been reopened. It was later admitted by a district attorney at the time of Buck s case that African American jurors were routinely dismissed by prosecutors. In 2011, his lawyer argued that he deserved a new sentencing hearing without tainted prejudicial testimony, but his request was ultimately denied and they continued with the set execution date. The death penalty is prejudice and goes against all religious beliefs, but death overall is a cruel and unusual punishment and should not be used as a form of punishment by the government. Zero gravity or weightlessness happens when the effects of gravity are not experienced. Humans have been experiencing zero gravity since the year 1961 when Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel to space. Zero gravity has became something humans experience for fun. For example there is a company called Zero G and they they allow people to pay money to go up in a plane and experience zero gravity. The Rites Of Passage For My Family I would consider the rites of passage for my family to be rather subtle and based more on responsibility and temperament towards treating them like an adult. For one to be considered an adult in my family that person must first act like an adult, and be responsible for themselves. The fact that someone can drive or has a job does not make them an adult, what would make them an adult is more of an unspoken agreement where we no longer must worry about them needing our parents help. I am not sure that the rest of my family has this perspective on when they become an adult, but this is my own personal rite of passage and I would not consider a sibling an adult unless they could do so. I consider the usual rituals, such as getting a license, going to high school, dating, and getting a job to be more of a step up a ladder where adulthood is at the top. I have siblings that have done all that, but I do not consider them an adult and I do not think my parents treat them like it either. I believe a person must earn their rites of passage through responsibility, compassion, and independence. Responsibility is an attribute I consider important to be an adult. What other people may consider their rite of passage into adulthood, I think of as small lessons to being responsible.
