The article examines how direct and indirect intergroup friendships can moderate prejudice based on whether prejudice has predominantly affective or cognitive bases. Three studies found that: 1) Direct friendships more strongly reduced prejudice towards groups eliciting affective responses, while indirect friendships more strongly reduced prejudice towards cognitively-based groups. 2) Direct friendships reduced prejudice more for individuals with affective prejudice bases; indirect friendships reduced prejudice more for those with cognitive bases. 3) A third study of Catholics and Protestants replicated these moderation effects on measures of trust and action tendencies, providing further support. Intimate contact through both direct and indirect friendships can benefit intergroup relations.

This study examines the longitudinal relationship between narcissism and bullying in youth over 3 years. It uses person-centered analysis to identify distinct trajectories of narcissism and two forms of bullying (direct and indirect) and relates these trajectories. The study finds:
1) For girls, higher narcissism was not related to more intense bullying or higher social dominance.
2) For boys, highly narcissistic boys were more likely than peers to show elevated direct and indirect bullying.
3) Among narcissistic youth, only those who engage in high bullying were high in social dominance.

Ninety-six undergraduates disclosed and received feedback on either an intimate or mundane story from an ostensible partner. Those who received positive feedback reported greater feelings of connection, likability, similarity, and willingness to meet compared to those who received negative feedback. However, the level of intimacy of the shared story did not significantly impact these perceptions. The results confirmed the hypothesis about the effect of feedback type but not the hypothesis about intimacy level.

“tightknittedness” of their friendship groups by testing whether adolescent friendship groups’ average levels of or vari-
ability in internalizing symptoms predict group cohesiveness. We used four waves (9th–12th grades) of survey and
social network data on 3,013 friendship groups from the PROmoting School-Community-University Partnerships to
Enhance Resilience study. Friendship groups with higher average depressive symptoms were less cohesive; groups
with higher average anxiety symptoms had greater reciprocity. Groups with greater variability in depressive symptoms
had greater density; variability in anxiety symptoms was not consistently associated with cohesion. The friendship
groups of depressed adolescents appear less cohesive than the “typical” adolescent friendship group.
When compared with their peers, adolescents with
more depressive symptoms have fewer friends,
have less stable friendships, and are more often
victimized and rejected by their peers (Chan &
Poulin, 2009; Kochel, Ladd, & Rudolph, 2012; Rose
et al., 2011; Stice, Ragan, & Randall, 2004). Yet
depressive symptoms also are a basis for friend-
ship formation, such that adolescents experiencing
these symptoms tend to be friends with each other
(Cheadle & Goosby, 2012; Hogue & Steinberg,
1995; Schaefer, Kornienko, & Fox, 2011). This
means that even if they have lower status in their
larger peer networks, many adolescents with
depressive symptoms do have friends, and those
friends often have depressive symptoms them-
selves. Thus many youth with depressive symp-
toms are likely embedded in friendship groups of
adolescents with similar symptoms. Yet we do not
know whether these friendship groups are as cohe-
sive as the groups formed by youth without
depressive symptoms, or whether they are
structurally weaker and thus not comparable sub-
stitutes, at least in terms of cohesion, for typical
friendship groups. Most studies of depressive
symptoms and peer networks have focused on
dyadic interactions or on individual adolescents’
status within entire social networks, rather than on
friendship groups.
This study examined whether friendship groups
comprised of adolescents with more depressive
symptoms are smaller and “looser,” or less tight-

Dyadic Coping and Attachment Dimensions in Young Adult Romantic Relationships
ABSTRACT: Dyadic coping conceives coping as a response in which partners support each other
and cope with stress as a couple rather than individuals, but little is known of the factors that lead to
dyadic coping. The present study aims to explore the relationship between dyadic coping and adult
attachment. That is, to examine whether an individual’s attachment style is a predictor of their own
dyadic coping style and their partner’s dyadic coping style. Online, survey data was collected from 74
childless couples, between the ages of 18 and 31, who had been in their relationships for over 6
months. Overall, analysis showed stronger associations between dyadic coping and attachment for
females, with minimal associations for males. The results of the present study are supportive of the
existing literature, though provide opportunities for further research.

In this research were used two questionnaires Empathy Formative questionnaire and Friendship Quality Scale. The aim of this study is to see the relationship between empathy and friendship quality among adolescent, to find out if there are gender differences in empathy and friendship quality, and to see if there are any differences between younger and older students on examined variables. This research was done with 65 high school students. Age of the students were 15 to 17 years old. Results show that there is a correlation between empathy and friendship quality. The results of t test show that there are not significant differences between females and males on variable empathy. Girls and boys have significant difference in friendship quality in Kosovo. There are no significant differences between older students and younger students in the level of empathy and also there are no significant differences between older students and younger students in the level of friendship quality.

Attachment starts from the moment of birth as an infant begins to recognize her mother’s smell, voice, and face. Children with insecure attachment due to a parent with unresolved emotional issues or an inconsistent parenting style show an inability to consistently show emotions. Children who have a secure attachment to at least one adult have higher self-esteem, social skills, and empathy. Empathy can be shown by children as young as 2 years of age and continues to develop into adolescence. Empathy is critical to the formation of healthy, reciprocal relationships. It allows individuals to understand how someone else may feel. If empathy is lacking, an individual may not hold back from physically or emotionally harming others because he does not have the capacity to understand how the impact of such harm. The relationship between the lack of empathy and antisocial behavior can be evident in children in early to middle elementary school years. This lack of empathy is one of the primary contributors to violent behavior.
In this Assignment, you analyze the role that attachment plays in the development of empathy and how empathy is a protective factor against violent behavior. You also explore the expression “neurons that fire together wire together” and how it relates to violent behavior.

The Role of the Affective and Cognitive.pdf
Two experiments examined whether attitudes based on affect or cognition were more susceptible to persuasive appeals that matched or mismatched the basis of the attitudes. In Experiment 1, results provided evidence that persuasive appeals were more effective when the basis of the appeal matched the basis of the initial attitude (affective or cognitive). Experiment 2 controlled for additional factors and found similar results, demonstrating the affective/cognitive matching effect was robust. However, the methods used to manipulate the affective vs cognitive bases of attitudes and appeals had limitations that prevent definitive conclusions about the matching effect.

This presentation discusses empathy research and its applications to technology. It defines empathy as having both cognitive and affective components, including perspective-taking and feeling another's emotions. Studies show empathy increases with familiarity, similarity, learning, past experience, and salience. However, online interventions to increase empathy have mixed results and may paradoxically increase bias when perspective-taking is forced. The presenter's own research found the distraction condition reduced bias most, while empathy interventions increased self-centeredness. Moving forward, the presenter advocates reducing narcissism, strengthening self-esteem, and using collaboration to expand self-interest and create a sense of common humanity when designing empathy interventions online.

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
