This document discusses plans for designing a digipak and advertisement for an indie artist's first physical album release. It considers inspiration from other indie album designs, including focusing on photography rather than images of the artist. Photos planned for the digipak cover and inside relate to the narrative in the artist's music video. The digipak will include a CD, DVD documentary, and booklet with lyrics and band messages. Advertisements for indie albums typically feature the album cover, name, and release date.
In this presentation I have described how I produced my digipak using key skills and techniques I have learned through research. I also explain how I was creative and what my influences were

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Artist’s previous albums
The artist we chose hasn’t actually
released print copies of their albums,
instead they post them on Soundcloud,
so we can only see the front cover.
Both front covers are very different to
each other. One being a simple picture
of a landscape and the other being a
medium close up studio photo of the
artist.
So the album we create will be the
artists first print album.
We want are pictures to illustrate the
narrative of are video rather than
focusing on the artist or using an
atmospheric image that implies the feel
of the album (melancholy).
3. Indie albums
Indie albums tend to not have
images of the artists and focus more
on photography. All of these digipaks
contain very good photography. I
think the Arctic Monkey’s debut
album is very similar to the one we
want to create, so we can take
inspiration from that to create our
own.
4. Photographs
Front cover
Based on our audience research we realised what people look for the most in a digipak
is photography. So our main focus will be on getting the right photographs to go with
the genre and artist we have chosen.
The idea I offered for the front cover was a picture of a girl covering her eyes, hiding
herself behind her hands. This concept relates to our music as the protagonist of our
video is hiding who she really is from her boyfriend.
Back
Again I think following the sequence of the previous images of for the back there should
be a photo of the girl hiding herself behind her knees as she sits on a stool.
Inside
In the music video the girl’s true identity is revealed so I thought for the inside it would
be a good idea to follow the front cover and back cover and use a photo of the same
girl but this time when the male has managed to remove her hands. By opening the
digipak its like seeing the girl open up and reveal who she really is.
I have taken inspiration from the camerawork and shots used in these images:
5. Costume, location and props
The model for our digipak is going to be Felicity, the same girl as in the music video. The reason we
chose to use her again is because we want the images on our digipak to relate to the video therefore
using her we believe is a good idea. Myles will also be in the digipak, but only his hands as the idea is
that he will be trying to remove Felicity’s hands from over face.
Costumes: Felicity is going to be wearing normal clothes and an oversized jacket. The same jacket
worn throughout the music video. The reason for using the jacket again is because the idea is that she
hides away in her jacket, as if she’s hiding behind it. Her hair will be down with natural makeup. Myles
will be wearing normal and casual clothes (jeans and a T-shirt).
Location: All the images will be of Felicity and will all be taken in the studio at college.
Props: For props the only one we are going to use is a stool/chair, which Felicity will sit on.
6. CD and DVD
Our digipak will contain a CD with 10 songs and a DVD which is an on the road documentary that
includes behind the scenes on tour, live performances and the making of the album. It contains
exclusive videos of how Flora Cash came to be. By doing this are audience will feel more included in
the digipak by getting to know the artist a bit more.
7. Images
Lyrics
Messages from the
band
Within the digipak there will be a booklet that contains the lyrics of all the songs and images of the artist. We
wanted our audience to be able to engage with the digipak so we want to include messages from the band
on some of the songs, the process of how the band felt when writing these songs and all the emotion they
were experiencing at that point. By doing this the audience are able to get to know the band more.
On the last page of the booklet the band talk about the DVD that is included in the digipak. It is an on the
road documentary which includes how the band came to be, behind the scenes on tour, live performances
and the making of the album.
Booklet layout
10. Indie album advertisement
The examples below of previous indie album ads all show the cover of the album. This way when
buying the album it is easy to recognise. The text is also very simple, it includes the name of the
artist, name of the album, release date and on some the names of the best selling singles and
reviews.
So for our ad we want to produce something very similar to follow the convention as this seems
to be what the public like.
11. Advertisement layout
We want our ad to be of the same
image of the album. It will contain the
name of the artist we have chosen,
the name of the album and the
release date.
Artist name
Album name
Release date
