LET’S KNOW EACH OTHER
LET’S BREAK THE ICE!!
 You are marooned on a island. What five (you can use a different number,
such as seven, depending upon the size of each team) items would you have
brought with you if you knew there was a chance that you might be stranded.
‫ڑا‬ ‫تھو‬‫مل‬ ‫گھل‬‫جایئں؟‬!!
You Don’t Know that you Don’t Know
You Know that you Don’t Know
You Don’t Know that You Know
You Know that you Know
 A practical tool for integrating 21st century skills and an innovator’s mindset
 Demonstrates the direct connection between content students learn in class and
what the world beyond their school will ask of them
 Design Thinking is a methodology that teaches individuals new strategies to
solve problems
 Design process challenges students to combine empathy, ingenuity and
rationality to meet user needs and create successful solutions with an
mindset
 Students are taught to defer judgment early in the process
 which reduces fear of failure and encourages thinking outside the box
Why Is Design Thinking Important?
 It can help you or your team surface unmet needs of the people you are
creating for.
 It reduces the risk associated with launching new ideas.
 It generates solutions that are revolutionary, not just incremental.
 It helps organizations learn faster.
 Captures the mindsets and needs of the people you're creating for.
 Paints a picture of the opportunities based on the needs of these people.
 Leads you to innovative new solutions starting with quick, low-fidelity
experiments that provide learning and gradually increase in fidelity
THE PROCESS
THE NINE WHYs
،‫کیا‬،‫کب‬،‫کہاں‬،‫کیوں‬،‫کیسے‬
 Ask, “What do you do when working on ______ (the subject
matter or challenge at hand)? Please make a short list of
activities.” Then ask, “Why is that important to you?” Keep
asking, “Why? Why? Why?” up to nine times or until you can
go no deeper.
 Your first why is
Why the Education System Needs to Be Changed?
Design Thinking Process
Design Thinking Process
Empathy
 Generally the starting point
 Encourages students to ask great questions
 Learn about the audience for whom you are designing
 Collect examples of other attempts to solve the same issue
 Identify existing obstacles
Customer Value Creation vs Customer Categorization
PERSONAS
 Creating personas is an effective way to focus on your user and ensure that you
are designing for their top needs. Personas are a representation of your target
user — their typical characteristics, challenges, and desires. On average, you
create one to three personas for your project so that you can focus on different
needs and inspire divergent ways of looking at a problem.

‫پوجا‬ ‫پیٹ‬ ‫پہلے‬
‫دوجا‬ ‫کام‬ ‫پھر‬!!
Define
 Redefine the deeper roots of the issue based on new
knowledge from empathy
 Determine what will make this project successful
 Identify the needs and motivations of end-users
Old vs New Data
Fortunately & Unfortunately | Define Your
Problem On Hand
 Each group of 3 will develop 5 statements regarding the topic both with
fortunately and unfortunately
‫ـ‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫سےـ‬ ‫خوشقسمتی‬
‫نہیں‬ ‫نہیں‬!
‫ـ‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫ـ‬ ‫سےـ‬ ‫بدقسمتی‬
Ideate
 Generate as many ideas as possible to serve these identified
needs
 Log your brainstorming session
 Do not judge or debate ideas as this limits creativity
Mind Mapping
 A mind map is a graphical way to represent ideas and concepts
 It is a visual thinking tool that helps structuring information, helping you to better
analyze, comprehend, synthesize, recall and generate new ideas
 Note taking
 Brainstorming (individually or in groups)
 Problem solving
 Studying and memorization
 Planning
 Researching and consolidating information from multiple sources
 Presenting information
 Gaining insight on complex subjects
 Jogging your creativity
Prototype
 Build a representation of one or more of your ideas to show
others
 Combine, expand, and refine ideas
 Create multiple drafts
The Prototype Canvas
 All the participants will now develop a prototype by answering key questions
‫ۓ؟؟‬ ‫جا‬ ‫کیا‬ ‫کیا‬ ‫تو‬
Test/Feedback
 Seek feedback from a diverse group of people including end-users
 Review the objective and determine if the solution met its goals
 Avoid consensus thinking and ownership of ideas
 Discuss what could be improved
