Descriptive Essay On A Rainy Day
Writing an essay on the topic "Descriptive Essay On A Rainy Day" can present both challenges
and opportunities for creativity. While the theme itself offers a plethora of sensory details and
emotions to explore, it also demands a delicate balance between vivid description and
maintaining a coherent narrative.
Capturing the essence of a rainy day involves tapping into one's ability to evoke the sights,
sounds, smells, and feelings associated with rain. The challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and
generic descriptions, aiming instead for a unique and personal perspective that engages the
reader.
Finding the right words to express the atmosphere, the rhythmic pattering of raindrops, the
earthy scent of wet soil, and the subtle changes in mood and ambiance can be a nuanced task.
Striking a balance between providing rich sensory details and maintaining a coherent structure is
crucial. The risk of veering into overly sentimental or melodramatic territory is ever-present,
requiring careful consideration of tone and language.
However, the difficulty in writing such an essay is also what makes it a rewarding endeavor.
Successfully conveying the beauty and complexity of a rainy day can result in a piece that
resonates with readers on a visceral level. It's an opportunity to transport them to a specific
moment in time, allowing them to experience the rain through the writer's eyes and emotions.
In conclusion, crafting a descriptive essay on a rainy day involves navigating the fine line
between vivid imagery and narrative coherence. It challenges the writer to explore their creativity
while avoiding common pitfalls. With careful attention to detail and a thoughtful approach to
language, the difficulty of the task transforms into a chance to create a captivating and
immersive literary experience.

Egyptian And Mexican Pyramids Essay
Mysteries of the Ancient World
For many centuries people have been fascinated by ancient cultures and treasures.
During the last two centuries the science of archeology and modern inventions
allowed people to get inside of the Egyptian and Mayan pyramids and discover the
treasures of Egyptian pharaohs and Mayan rulers. Most of what we know about
Egypt we owe to the pyramids. Thanks to Egyptian belief in the afterlife we can now
find out about the civilization that existed nearly five thousand years ago. Egyptian
culture is not the only culture that left us its heritage in pyramids. In America we
find pyramids build by civilizations of Olmec and Maya about 7th century CE. These
pyramids had different purposes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6). The Maya built shrines, temples, and pyramids in honor of their gods, as well
as to their kings, who ruled by all encompassing concept of Divine power. Most of
Mayan pyramids are temples to the gods, not the burial tombs as in Egypt. Even
though Maya sometimes buried there their rulers they always put the temple on the
top of the pyramid. Egyptians had temples near the pyramid or right next to it for the
ceremonial services, but it never was placed on top of the structure.
Also buildings in both cultures have a lot in common in their visual characteristics
they are different structures. Egyptian pyramids originally had smooth equal sides
meeting on the top in the perfect apex. Mayan pyramids look like one huge
stairway towards the sky. It reminds of earliest Egyptian structures mastabas, where
one layer of stones was put onto another creating the effect of pyramid. Also The
Tikal Temple on Great Plaza was originally plastered white. Then the roof comb was
painted with reds, blues, and other colors to accent the different areas of sculptural
decoration. These roof combs were like giant billboards, with immense portrayals of
the enthroned king, larger then life size (Cities pars.3). Egyptians never colored their
religious structures. As well as in Egyptian pyramids, the stone used to construct
Mayan pyramids is local limestone, obtained from nearby quarries. The ancient Maya
had no stone tools but limestone is soft enough that the Maya could utilize
Medical Quality Hospital Case Study
The change process that was implemented using the Kurt Lewin Change theory. The
Kurt Lewin change theory implements the three step method of unfreeze, change, and

of what implementing change means when dealing with people. The model provides
guidance on how to go about getting people to change: a manager will implement
new processes and re assign tasks, but change will only be effective if the people
involved embrace it and help putting it into practice it. Prior to implementing the
change process at the Medical Quality Hospital had 1,000 medical errors and 100

How Photography Affects The Social And Political Arena
Photography had been around more than 20 years before the Civil War began. When
pictures were taken, they showed colonels, bodies that were on the battlefield, even
soldiers that were around the camp tent. A few photographers that will be discussed
are Mathew Brady, Alexander Gardner, George Barnard and Timothy O Sullivan. I
will talk about how their photographyaffected the social and political arena as well as
how photography in contemporary society provides the public with an up close
testimony to recent wars and global strife.
Mathew Brady stated, My greatest aim has been to advance the art of photography
and to make it what I think I have, a great and truthful medium of history. (Keya
Morgan, 2004). Mathew Brady was a 19th century ... Show more content on

In the social arena, Mathew Brady photographed people bringing them into his
photography studio and they were connected, for example, that is where Mathew
Brady met his wife Juliette Handy.
Alexander Gardner worked for Mathew Brady as his assistant photographer.
Although it was Brady s name on most of the photographs, it was Gardner that took
the photographs. When the Civil War started, portrait photography s demand
increased. Soldiers wanted to leave photographs and images behind with their loved
ones as they posed before going to war. (Group of officers at Headquarters Army of
Potomac, ppmsca 34178 http://hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp/ppmsca.34178)
Alexander Gardner was more so known for his photographs of scenery instead of the
troops. While he worked with Mathew Brady that was his focus, but once he departed
from Mathew, Alexander began taking photographs of the scenes.
Other photographers took pictures of the troops and men during the Peninsula
Campaign in Virginia, but it was Alexander Gardner that took them of the scenery;
which is how he affected the political arena. He showed a difference in
campaigning. His photography affected the social arena by using the camera
differently and started something new, instead of taking one photo at a time, he took
four. Before Gardner died he said, It is designed to speak for itself. As mementos of

Features Of Oligopoly
Introduction What is Oligopoly? The word oligopoly has been coined from the
Greek words: Oligi means few polein means to sell. Thus, Oligopoly is a market
scenario which comprises of few sellers (more than 2) of differentiated or
homogenous product. Features of Oligopoly Main features of oligopoly are as
follows 1.Small numbers of firms The number of large firms dominating the
market are few. 2.Interdependence Since the No. of Firms are few, so the action
taken by one firm would definitely affect the other firms as well. A change in price
can evoke reaction from other firms. 3.Non price Competition A change in price by
one firm will bring reactions from other firms. To avoid price wars, a policy of price
rigidity is followed. Firms rely on advertising, better... Show more content on

Non Collusive Oligopoly When there are no agreements between the companies in
the oligopoly market, then it is called Non collusive Oligopoly. Herfindahl
Hirschman Index (HHI) Herfindahl Hirschman Index is a degree of concentration
of few large firms dominating an industry. It is calculated as the sum of squares of
market shares of the firm within the industry. Here the market shares are expressed
in percentage or in fractions. Its range lies between 0 to 1.0, in other words it
moves from huge number of small firms in an industry to a single monopolistic
producer. As HHI increases it shows a decline in competition and increase in
market power. In case percentage is used for calculation the index range changes
from 0 to 10000 points. Eg. Index of .4 = 4000 points. Formula: In India, industries
such automobiles, cement, steel, cold drinks, cigarettes etc are examples of
oligopolistic market. All these industries have few firms for each product. In this
report we would be analysing the market share of cigarette industry and cold drink
industry in India and calculate their HHI as well as forecast next year s market
share. Discussion about Oligopoly and HHI in Indian
The Importance Of Technology In Feed
In the futuristic world M.T Anderson creates in Feed, the misuse of technology is a
problem the world faces. The novel Feed describes how the world could be in the
future if humans let technology rule their lives. Anderson wants the reader to realize
the effect technology has on our lives, and he also wants us to understand how we
are being controlled and manipulated by media. Therefore, Anderson, fearing that one
day technology will surpass humanity by creating a society of idiots like in the novel
Feed, warns the reader from the futureour society might face if we don t make a
change soon.
The novel describes scenarios of the world where we live. For example: people are
becoming less intelligent because technology is dominating the human race.
Moreover, One major theme is how technology, including media and advertising,
ruins the future. Since the feed is in the teenagers head, they live and die by the feed.
Everything they want is
Instantaneous. They no longer have a reason to think as individuals and increase there
Intelligence. Instead, they are content with having technology do everything for them.
They cannot even read or write because everything they need is done by the feed. In
School, teenagers learn about the feed, how to find the best bargains, how to get a job
and how to decorate their rooms. Regular subjects such as literature and math are not
in School. The constant advertisements running through their heads also ruin the
future of the human race.
Defining Characteristics Of The 12 Step Approach
Introduction A brief overview of the defining characteristics of the 12 step
approach (Baldwin et al., 2011, Bateson, 1971, Jellinek, 1960, Lacan and Miller,
1998, Raikhel and Garriott, 2013, Schenker, 2009, University of Chester, 2016,
Wilcox, 1998) with particular focus on its definition (NCCMH, 2008) and UK
based studies (Best et al., 2001, Day et al., 2005, Harris et al., 2003) recognising
the translatability of the 12 steps relating to higher power and personal
responsibility (Appendix 1, p.11) create tensions for client/patient engagement
(Best et al., 2001, Harris et al., 2003) and staff/professional referral (Day et al.,
2005). A commissioned report by National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health
(NCCMH, 2008) by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and
a recent 8 year review of the aforementioned (NICE, 2016) inform current NICE
guidelines including referrals to 12 step (NICE, 2007). The current evidence base
(NCCMH, 2008) uses a systematic review of the literature (McAuliffe, 1990,
Etheridge et al., 1999, Moos et al., 1999, Fiorentine and Hillhouse, 2000,
Toumbourou et al., 2002, Weiss et al., 2005, Timko et al., 2006). An 8 year review
of the evidence (NICE, 2016) finds no new evidence to warrant evolving the existing
guideline, providing supporting evidence and emerging evidence to inform the
current guidelines (Johnson et al., 2006, Kelly et al., 2010, Laudet et al., 2006,
McKellar et al., 2009, Timko and DeBenedetti, 2007). A
How The Renaissance Changed European Society
The Renaissance was a time of rebirth for Western Europe. The Renaissance
changed the economic, political, and social factors of Europe to modern day society
opposed to the mid evil way of life. The Renaissance ended the dark ages with its art
and thoughts on religion. This was important because it changed society.
Economically, trade grew, along with trade value, as the times began to change from
city to city. Politically, the authority of the Catholic Church had been swept away
along with the conflict between the estates over power. Socially, the arts flourished
thought all of Italyand then all of Europe. The Renaissancechanged these three
factors and thus was important because it changed how we see our modern world
today. Coming out of the Dark Ages, Europe was about to change forever. The
Renaissance was a revolutionary time for Europe. The Renaissance changed
everything such as religion, economics, politics, and social values. Before this time
era, the black plague of the Dark Ages occurred and people no longer believed in God
because they believed that he was punishing them resulting in humanism, the
bettering of ones self. This changed Europe s religions and faith within God. During
the Renaissance, new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trade became more popular than ever before resulting in new alliances to be born. In
the dark ages, every one was economically unstable, even the government. Then in the
renaissance, the government started to tax the people which gave the government
more power. By taxing people, the more money the government has. The Atlantic
powers, such as Portugal and Spain, increased their colonial territory which changed
Europe economically because the more territory you have the more riches and taxes
you can out on it increasing the countries economic wealth which brought modern.
The Renaissance also changed the face of Europe
My Experience Of College Writing In High School
High School:
The light grey, concrete building rose from the ground, looking like something out
of a dystopian novel. I was rapidly approaching Herter Hall, where my dreaded
College Writing class would take place, with an overwhelming urge to turn around. I
was so anxious because up until my first semester at college, writing had been
synonymous with pure stress. In all of my previous writing classes, I was either
assigned literary analysis papers, or papers on the same controversial issues (gun
control or the death penalty). Furthermore, I was always instructed to follow a very
specific format, which made my essays very repetitive. After four years of writing
nearly the same essay, I had become very frustrated because my creativity and
perspective was being confined. Despite my hatred for the class, I considered
myself to be a decent writer. Seldom did I get lower than an A on an essay in high
school, and most teachers gave me praise for my insightful analysis. That being said,
I knew college writing would be more difficult than high school, and I was nervous
because I severely lacked revision skills. In the past, I would become very partial to
my writing and turned a blind eye to poor sentence structure, organization, or style
choices. As a result, my essays were generally only looked over for grammatical
errors.
Intro to College Writing:
My excitement was nonexistent and my attitude was poor that first day of writing
class, and it remained that way until we began
Education in Saudi Arabia Essay
Education remains to be the priority of all nations around the globe. Most countries
devote vast resources to guarantee equal education opportunities to all their students.
Most education systems are developed to meet the economic and social demands of
the country, both locally and globally. As the world s 8th highest educationspender,
Saudi Arabiainitiates an overhaul on the education system. It is the largest country in
the Middle East. The Saudi Arabian education has gone through an astounding
transformation. Initially, education was only available to few people who were
children of the wealthy families. However, the transformation of the Saudi Education

After successfully completing the secondary education, and passing the official tests,
students are awarded a Secondary Diploma certificate in their respective schools.
The Secondary Diploma is offered to all schools, private, public and even
international. After a student gets a Secondary Diploma, they are now free to enroll
for higher education in Universities (Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia). Most of them enroll in universities in their home country, while other enroll
in other countries. In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Education developed a ten year
plan that set goals for Saudi children. The ten year plan ensures that Saudi children
acquire the best and quality education. In addition, this ten year plan ensures that, the
education system accommodates all children, including those with special needs. The
Saudi Ministry of Education ensures that, all children regardless their gender, access
educational facilities, in addition to advancing their education (Ministry of
Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Students are prepared culturally and
academically in all fields, at local and international levels in order to achieve the best
education. Moreover, girls are given same education as boys. Islamic values are

Hospital Readmissions
Policy makers created the Medicare Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program
(HRRP) in an attempt to improve quality of patient care and lower costs (James,
2013). In order to avoid these penalties, healthcare leaders must recognize that CMS
has identified a correlation between readmissions and a lack of quality care.
Therefore, the aim is not to focus solely on hospitalreadmissions, but to seek clinical
excellence by investing in quality improvement (Silow Carrol, Edwards Lashbrook,
2011). However, reducing readmissions is a complex undertaking, because not all
readmissions can or should be prevented. Indeed, some readmissions are planned as
part of sound clinical care. Furthermore, while hospitals work to reduce readmissions

Apple And Android Vs. Android
Apple or Android? This is a question several people ask themselves before
purchasing certain electronics today. Both Apple and Android are especially
dominant in the phone market where they have been competing head to head with
each other for around a decade. Both also have some rather interesting background
history, from the development of their devices to the great masterminds behind the
tech. It is also fascinating to take a look back in time and compare what was then
to what is now and see how much technology has evolved in a relatively short
amount of time. But one has to be superior to the other, right? Apple is better and
more superior when compared to Android because it has a richer and more
interesting history, sells more smartphones than their leading Android competitor,
and their tablets offer better prices and functions than Androids . Both Apple and
Android have a great, and rather interesting, history behind them, but Apple s is
quite the story. Most people don t realize this, but Apple has been around for
decades. The company was created way back in 1976 which is quite a while ago.
But it wasn t until 1997, when Steve Jobs took over as the CEO of the company,
that Apple pronounced itself as one of the world s leading corporations in
electronics. Steve Jobs is a very recognizable name round the world and this is due
because of the great success he had while at Apple. When Jobs took over as the CEO
Apple was on the verge of bankruptcy, but he turned everything
Iphigenia In Euripide s Oresteia
Agamemnon is stricken by terrible circumstance: the life of his daughter for a
Grecian victory. A trivial choice at first glance but on secondary analysis, it is
apparent that he is given little say. Acts of revenge and antagonistic rage develop a
pattern throughout his hosue. Euripides provides the prologue for Agamemnons death
in The Oresteia with Iphigenia in Aulis. After much wavering, Agamemnon elects to
sacrifice his daughter for the sake of the Grecian army. Iphigenia dutifully accepts
her demise and attenuates her father s decision. She has little choice but to face her
death full heartedly. With neither hope of being spared nor fear of death, she takes
credit as becoming the savior of Greece. Agamemnon and Iphigenia are given little...

time, the gods / overturn a man s life. At another, / the wills of men, many and

In the face of such a moral dilemma, Agamemnon shows weakness as a leader as he
envies the life a slave. His moral development at this stage is not fully developed as
he cannot bring himself to make a decision. Agamemnon blames Helen, Menelaus,
and Paris for the grief that afflicts him. (70 79) As he blames others and envies
those with easier lives, he comes to the conclusion that despite his choice, the
doom of his child is apparent. Agamemnon emerges as a rational general and king
with his heart wrenching decision to sacrifice his daughter; a decision that
Cyltemnestra cannot accept nor understand. Agamemnon s level of moral
development rises to the highest level of Principled Conscious as he was able to
put the numerous lives of men in the army before the one life in his daughter.

Propaganda is to a democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state.
~Noam Chomsky
George Orwell was a brilliant author. As we will see through his writing he had the
capability to alter our perceptions of reality. He made the unreal seem real, and the
real seem unreal as if we were seeing it for the first time. This was shown in Orwell s
famous book Nineteen Eighty four with how convincingly he displays the methods of
control used by The Party. Dictators rule over the masses with near absolute power,
using control methods mostly unknown to the general population to sculpt and
manipulate their people into whatever they desire. The totalitarian government of
Oceania was the same, except that they had complete control over their citizens.
Using a variety of techniques that Orwell described and that this paper will examine,
the Party had almost completely forced the population into total submission and
obedience. Nineteen Eighty four was a critical piece of literature as it depicted a
dystopian vision of what can happen to us today, if we do not stay vigilant and
continue to hold our governments accountable.
Oceania wass run by a system of government called the Party which was led by Big
Brother. Big Brother was the conceptual leader and the ostensible head of Oceania.
Orwell did not make it clear whether Big
Summary Of The Windhover By Gerard Manley Hopkins
The Windhover Explication Gerard Manley Hopkins, The Windhover, has been
described as one of the most challenging poems to explicate, so with my limited
knowledge I will attempt to do this correctly and disagree with professors who
have studied this poem far longer than I have. The breaking of the word kingdom
between line 1 and 2 is meaningful. The falcon is described as both morning s
minion and king. If the break were after dom there would have been less exaltation
of the falcon, which Hopkins sets up by using the dynamic verb caught, which
implies spontaneity, joy, and delight, instead of a more mundane verb like view or
note. The division of the word kingdom also allows for two simultaneous
interpretations of the first two lines. The first interpretation being that the falcon
is the kingdom, and the other being that the falcon is the dauphin of the dom(e) of
daylight (Rudanko 176). For the sequence dapple dawn drawn sequence Rudanko
proposes 4 possible ways of interpretation based on previous literary analysis and
his own which are as follows: (1) The falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. (2)
The falcon is sketched against the dappled dawn. (3) The dappled falcon is
attracted by the dawn. (4) The dappled falcon is sketched in silhouette against the
dawn (Rudanko 176). However, immediately following this sequence the falcon is
described as riding therefore it is not plausible that 2 or 4 are accurate
interpretations of the sequence given that the dappling of the bird would be
imperceptible if he were to be silhouetted and that if the dawn is dappled there
would be enough light in the rest of the sky to illuminate the bird enough for it to
not just appear as a silhouette. The only question left to answer is then, is the sky
dappled or is the bird? When the poem is read aloud, as Hopkins intended with his
works, the most natural way of hearing it is that the dawn is dappled. Hopkins has
also described the sky as being dappled in other poems such as Pied Beauty, leading
to the conclusion that option 1 is the way in which the sequence should be read, that
the falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. There is much less ambiguity over the
line, Of the rolling level underneath him steady air,
Investigating Potential Sustainable Solutions For Waste Of...
Introduction
This paper aims at investigating potential sustainable solutions for waste of the
West Garforth Township Development Project. It will aim at giving an assessment
of the proposals of how waste will be handled in the area during the construction
phase as well as when the development is in its operational phase. This is to cater
for a population that is projected to increase by approximately 15% 25%. This paper
also aims at assessing the feasibility of the chosen approaches including knock on
effects that would affect different aspects of the development.
Key Planning Objectives
The proposals chosen are aimed more at trying to use waste as a resource that can be
recycled and looking at its disposal as a secondary option to minimize on economic
costs. This will be chosen according to adequacy and effectiveness of the chosen the
proposal. They also aim at creating a system in which the locals will have to take
responsibility for the waste emission during operation of the development project and
provide waste management facilities to meet the needs of the locals. Moreover, to
ensure that the waste is handled in a manner that would neither pollute the
environment nor affect human health in a negative way.
During the construction phase
During this phase the production of waste materials is inevitable. Therefore,
measures should be taken in order to the ensure the minimum waste is produced. This
can be effectively implemented the following;
i). Reducing the waste
Structure Of The Supreme Court
For us to assess how the Supreme Court determines which case they will hear, we
must first analyze the structure of the supreme court and how they get appointed.
The original court in set the limit of judges to 6 in 1789, but congress has since has
changed that number to 9 in 1869 in which it remains to this day. There is but one
Chief Justice who is the highest ranking judge, and 8 associate justices, all of which
are uniquely diverse in ethnicity, religion, sex, ideology, and length of tenure.
The supreme court holds an annual session on the first monday in October and ends
in late june. More than ten thousand people petition the court but the court typically
accepts less than 2 percent. Many times the petitioner is asking the Supreme

Symbols In The Giver By Lois Lowry
It s choice not chance that determines your destiny. Jean Nidetch. Without choice in
one s life, they will never be able to influence what happens in their own life. In The
Giver, the entire community of sameness has the power of choice taken away from
them, this is the future. They aren t allowed to be different from one another or
unique. In Sameness, there are many residential areas, many people, many
occupations, but no difference. In The Giver, Lois Lowryuses the following symbols
to help understand the journey from Sameness Jonastook: Memory of the sled,
Memory of Christmas and family, and Rosemary.
Lois Lowry, in The Giver, uses the symbol of the sled to help explain the escape
from sameness Jonas took. First of all, the narrator ... Show more content on

To begin with, Jonas is the character speaking in the quote where he is arguing
about the power of choice. The text states Well...Jonas had to stop and think it
through. If everything s the same, then there aren t any choices! I want to wake up
in the morning and decide things! (Lowry 97). The quote talks about Jonas when
he was complaining to the Giver about not being able to have choices in sameness.
He used that anger and gave himself a choice, to leave or stay in sameness. He
chooses to leave and was able to have a continuous amount of choices after that. He
sometimes chose correctly or incorrectly in his choices. Also, the Giver was
talking about Rosemary in this quote. The text says When the new receiver failed
the memories that she had received were released. They didn t come back to me.
They went... (Lowry 104). The quote talks about when Jones was learning about
Rosemary and what she did from the Giver. Rosemary s choice to be released was
what gave Jonas the urge to leave sameness. Rosemary also ties into why Jonas
made his decision to leave. This is because Jonas and Rosemary both made a similar
decision for the same reason. They both left sameness (in a way) so that the residents
of sameness would receive the memories they were given by the
Beez R Us Essay
Growth Strategy
Beez r Us as one of the successful organic honey producer in Australia, it is
planning to grow its brand by increasing the market demand. Firstly, instead of
selling raw products to other honey brand, Beez r Us can sell its branded honey
directly to supermarket and food stores within Australia, therefore, they bring more
customers into the market. Secondly, Beez r Us can expend its brand to overseas, in
order to bring customers from new markets. Especially export to China, which may
have a great market opportunity since it has a great population of potential customers.
To do this, Beez r Us need to face the great competition from other honey producers.
It is significant for Beez r Us to develop its distinctive assets to compete with other
companies. As an organic honey producer, Beez r Us has obtained an organic
certification for its products. Because of its unique and natural floral on Kangaroo
Island, Beez r Us can produce higher quality honey than other companies, which can
be its core competence. This is a unique asset for Beez r Us, which is hard for those

Firstly, in order to meet different customer needs, the company needs to manage its
product mix and lines. Beez r Us can develop a variation of products, for example,
they can produce different size of bottled honey in order to meet social cultural
differentiation. Some large family size may need to buy a bigger size of honey, and
people who live alone may need to buy a smaller size. Moreover, Beez r Us can also
develop a category extension. Some of the category extension has already
developed by Beez r Us such as soft toys of bees, honey flavoured ice cream and
honey hand cream. The company can increase the quantity of production of these
products based on their past selling experience. This strategy may increase the brand
awareness of Beez r Us by different category users (Batra, Lenk Wedel 2010,
Essay on Consequences of the War on Terror in the United...
The terrorist attacks of September 11 led to a lot of pressure from the public to
find those responsible and bring them to justice . In order to do so, President Bush
declared a war on terrorism just a few days after the attacks, but little did he know
that this very decision would also bring devastating consequences to many countries.
Over time, people have been losing faith in the war and in its purpose. Consequently,
countries whose economies have fallen under the Military Industrial Complex have
manufactured a societal fear against Muslims and jihadists. As a result, they are now
being stigmatized and portrayed as the enemies of democracy, and of the United
Statesin particular. To make matter worse, it has driven western countries to... Show

Here, they fail to take into consideration that the United States is already in massive
amounts of debt and has more pressing issues than a socially constructed fear of
terrorism, such as high unemployment rates and increasing poverty. They believe
that it is justifiable for them to spend all this money and resources on the war as it
is a means of protecting themselves and their democratic state, but they provide no
proof of why a less invasive and violent effort will not work. Chomsky proves the
Heritage Society is wrong for saying that it is a justifiable form of revenge by
stating that the United States has attacked other countries in the past and if it is a
crime when others violate international law, it is also a crime when Americans do it
(Chomsky). The problem with Chomsky s article is that he fails to provide any
alternative solutions; he only criticizes the efforts of the Obama and Bush
administrations. This paper will look at the consequences of terrorism from liberal
point of view similar to that of Noam Chomsky.
Former American president Dwight Eisenhower warned the United States in his
farewell speech about what he referred to as the Military Industrial Complex, which
refers to the United States economy becoming dependent on warfare and on the
production of weapons. In order to fuel their economy, the States declared a war on
terrorism and on bin Laden shortly after the attacks.

November 13, 2017 Little Red Cap and Hoodwinked!
Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Little Red Cap. Everyone believed that
she was a sweet and innocent girl, but did someone else lay beneath her exterior? In
the Brothers Grimm version of the story, Little Red Cap takes on the persona of
childlike innocence. In the animated movie Hoodwinked!, she is seen as a young girl
who is smart, independent, and named Red. There are numerous fairy tales that have
been told throughout the course of history. Many of the tales remain independent and
true to the original version, and then there are those that have been altered in many
different ways. Little Red Cap has been revised into the version of Little Red Riding
Hood, which many of us are familiar with, to the different and modern film version
of Hoodwinked!. These stories are updated to appeal to modern generations,
cultures and societal views. Consequently, they do pose many similarities, but their
differences make each work unique in their own way. In the film Hoodwinked!
directed by Cory Edwards, Todd Edwards, and Tony Leech, the film s main theme
revolves around the idea that you cannot judge a book by its cover. It goes beyond
the original character ideas of the Little Red Cap s Story, and creates altered stories
for each of the primary characters. The directors of Hoodwinked! have taken the
story of Little Red Cap , and dramatically twisted the ideas of what roles each
character plays. There are people that would argue that Hoodwinked! is a ripoff of
the original story, however with an open mind, one can appreciate the creative twist
they have given to a classic tale.
The story starts with Red traveling to her grandmother s house where she is
attacked by a wolf along the way. The wolf believes that Red has stolen the
grandmother s recipes, however Red does not see it that way. Red believes that the
wolf is trying to trick her so that he can eat her, but that is not the case as we find
out later. Meanwhile, the grandmother is living a dangerous life and trying to escape
from people who are hired to kill her. Then, a hunter with an axe accidentally crashes
into the house right before Red and her
Early Moorish Architecture In America
Moorish architecture is the Western term used for describing North African and
Spanish (Andalusian) Islamic architecture. Moorish style architecture in America was
largely fantastical rather than archaeological and often combined with many other
styles. This type of architecture in America was seen as very exotic and many of the
buildings constructed in this style were non traditional. The details of the early
Moorish Style were usually blended with forms from Egyptian, Turkish, and Indian
styles. This blending occurred before there was much archaeological awareness about
Moorish Styles. During the nineteenth century, these styles were referred to as the
Oriental Style, while Asian styles were referred to as Chinese. The Oriental Style
The Breakfast Of Champions By Ray Bradbury
Since the last time I wrote a journal, I had just finished Joseph Heller s Catch 22.
Now, I started and finished Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 and also started Kurt
Vonnegut s Breakfast of Champions. There are still sixty six pages remaining in
the novel. Fahrenheit 451 is about a man named Guy Montag living in a future in
which books are outlawed. Guy is a fireman whose job it is to burn all remaining
books currently located in his city. However, when Guy meets a strange girl living
outside of his apartment, he becomes intrigued with what books have the power to
do. Instead of following orders, Guy starts wondering why he is doing what he is
told to do rather than just doing what he is told. Breakfast of Champions is a science
fiction noveldescribing the lives of two strange men. One of these men is Kilgore
Trout, an unheard of novelist who will soon become one of the most famous men in
America. The other man in this story is Dwayne Hoover, a wealthy man who made
his fortune off of speculation on the stock market. Despite his luxurious home and
fantastic job, Dwayne will soon be appalled by Kilgore Trout s idea that everyone
around Dwayne is a robot. In both of these novels, change is an essential theme. In
Fahrenheit 451, focus will be brought on the change of the world in which Guy
resides, and also the change of Guy as a person, while in Breakfast of Champions,
the focus of change is how much America has changed since 1973. There once was a
time when reading was legal.
Why Is Sociological Research Important
We know what we know because our parents and grandparents have thought us
many things. The traditions we follow were passed down from many generations.
We trust them because they have worked for many years. And people in the family
or colony are still practicing those same traditions. For example, when we have a
wedding the bride always wears blue. It has been that way since the Huterrites came
to America, or the tradition could have come from even farther back. According to
the text Much of our knowledge us based on tradition, a handing down of statements,
beliefs, and customs from generations (Pearson Text).

Why Is Sociological Research Important in Our Everyday Lives? Cite Specific
examples from your own life in your response. We need it in our everyday lives
because it helps us understand why people do what they do. Like when we ask our
minister if we can do something and he says no, then we have to accept it and take
no for an answer, trusting he had a good reason why he said no. Because he always
has a good reason when he says something. Sometimes he says no because he doesn
t want us to get hurt emotionally or physically, which we could. Sometimes we
think adults don t let us do things just to control us and to make our lives miserable,
which I believe a lot. But do they really, or are they just trying to teach us something
because they made the same mistake. But I also think that we all need to learn from
our mistakes, as much as our parents love us they can t always teach us to do
something different because they made that mistake. We sometimes have to learn it
on our own, our parents have been through much more in life then we have, so
they understand quite clearly what we are going through. For example my sister
and I really want a dog and my parents say NO every time because they are afraid we
won t take care of him or something like
Religion and Cultural Identity Essays
Religion and Cultural Identity
Is it possible to be a Muslim without believing the validity of the prophecies of
Mohammed? Is it possible to be a Christian without believing in the resurrection of
Jesus? My definition of religion transformed greatly during my studies the past few
months. Even as a religion major at St. Olaf College I thought of religion very
narrowly, as a construct of metaphysical beliefs. But I ve come to realize that religion
runs far deeper than my Lutheran mind previously conceived.
By studying cultures and religions other than my own in Turkey, Morocco, Egypt and
Greece it became clear to me that religion plays a huge part in shaping ones cultural
identity. Bringing this cultural identity viewpoint to its ... Show more content on

Searching back to its beginnings, religion has a profound impact on cultural identity
through the presence of deep and ancient roots that connect a people to their glorious,

success of a society often times national pride and religious pride become intertwined.
Though this manifests itself differently in each country, throughout all four surveyed

Turkey, though once the throne of Christendom, it began a new and glorious religious

During the next half millennium the strong Ottoman state is primarily controlled by
the Islamic Sultanate and Caliphate. Istanbul under the Ottoman Empire was a, if not
the, cultural center of the Islamic world. The empire brought great wealth, knowledge
and culture into the modern day lands of Turkey. Although the modern Republic tried
to suppress its Ottoman past, Turkey s Islamic beginnings remain a source of great
Turkish pride. Though most people can no longer access their history through original

Kenney s Use Of The Internet As A Cyber-Terrorism
Summary: Cyber Terrorism is a poorly understood and defined concept. With the
recent growth of cyber attacks in the United States and abroad, many are beginning
to categorize hactivism and terrorists illicit use of the Internet as cyber terrorism
(Kenney, 2015, p. 111). Kenney (2015) explains that none of these cybercrimes has
risen to the level of cyber terrorism. As history is often an indicator of the future,
terrorist groups are more likely to participate in physical acts of violence, while using
the Internet to display this violence, spread their ideology and beliefs, and for
recruitment purposes.

It is much easier for these terrorists to obtain weapons to carry out such attack rather
than execute a complex attack to bring the Internet crashing down. These terrorist
attacks aim to provoke fear, dread, and terror among a wide audience, spreading
further than the victims themselves (Kenney, 2015, p.124). Although many believe
that cyber terrorism is merely a threat, the United States has earmarked billions of
dollars to advance technology and security procedures to protect our vital information

Child Development Explanations And Understanding
Child development explanations and understanding is a complicated process and
it is hard deciding the right process to use with each child. Many individuals and
doctors have their own way of thinking how the body and mind develops. Their
ideas have no right or wrong answers and are mere guesses of human growth. No
one idea can be applied directly to a person, without looking at another idea also. To
prove these explanations of psychology, scientific methods are used. Teachers may
use all patterns of ideas in their lesson planning for children.
Teachers choose what ideas to apply in the classroom by what is best proven, and
what is in the best interest of the child. They must also look at what has been
effective in their teaching in the past. If the idea does not work, then it should be
removed from the class, replaced or changed. Each idea has their strong points as
well as their weak ones. To avoid the extreme differences in psychology opinions of
the ideas you must use the common methods offered. It is hard for teachers to apply
one idea to different children, this is due to the fact that none of use grow up the
exact same way. For children to have the chance of becoming who and what they
want, we must not put all of them in the same box, this is to keep choice free in life.
To summarize it definitely helps when you understand the great philosophers and
their processes.

Financial Statement For A Company s Core Business
1. by having a Good Operating Margin which is a margin ratio used in measuring a
company s pricing strategy and operating efficiency. Thus the operating margin.
Measures your operating profitability, it indicates how much of each dollar of
revenues used is left over after both costs of goods sold and operating expenses are
considered. Operating margins are important because they measure efficiency. The
higher the operating margin, the more profitable a company s core business is. for
example I Created a Mock report Called Dean s Report I report the following
Numbers on my Financial statement for my Event I held.
Net Sales: $1,000,000
Cost of Goods Sold: $700,000
Rent: $20,000
Wages: $100,000
Other Operating Expenses: $50,000
Net sales all operating expenses = 530,000
Then Create a Formula Similar to this
Operating margin .53 = 530,000 operating income______________________Net
sales 1,000,000
As you can see, Dean s operating income is $530,000 (Net sales all operating
expenses). According to the formula used, Dean s operating margin is .53. This
means that 57 cents on every dollar of sales is used to pay for variable costs. Only 53
cents remains to cover all non operating expenses or fixed costs.
2. Working Capital Ratio
The working capital ratio, also called the current ratio. Is a liquidity ratio that
measures a firm s ability to pay off its current liabilities. For example financial
obligation, with their current assets.
Romantic Love Essay
Romantic love as a cultural script includes the belief that love is all you need; true
love lasts forever; true lovers become one; love is pure and good; and anything
done in the name of love cannot be wrong (Ben Ze ev Goussinsky, 2008). Romantic
ideology encompasses positive aspects of love, such as mutual devotion and
intimacy. This influence is present in a beginning scene where Angela is talking to
Mamen about her boyfriend and stating her faithfulness. She explains how she is
able to separate the job (prostitution) from her loyalty. Even if work is busy, 30
guys in a day, she will continue to be faithful. Angela advises Mamen to take care of
her own boyfriend. Then a pseudo scenario is brought up where a hot guy at a club

Later on, Caya is on a date with Manuel and she asks him that question. She
basically cries when he replies that he would definitely pick her up from work.
Zulema also contributes to the romantic script by showing us some affiliation as she
cooks for one of her returning clients. A final instance that is in the grey area between
insanity and romantic love is Caya s mother, Pilar. Looping into the ideology that
true love lasts forever, we can see how Pilar continues to love her dead husband
because she does not accept the fact he has passed. During the film, Pilar
consistently receives flowers to her house from an anonymous sender. At first
perception we can think she has a secret admirer. Subsequently, her son supports
the idea of the admirer, but Pilar insists that they are from her husband. It is later
revealed by Caya that she had been sending flowers to herself the whole time.
Physical attractiveness is especially important to men choosing a prospective
sexual partner or mate, as shown by research in many cultures. Males will usually
choose good looks, whereas women favor personal qualities and earning abilities.
Preference is also determined by sexist attitudes about gender roles. People with
more sexist beliefs about gender role ideologies prefer partners who have traditional
masculine/feminine qualities (Crawford, 2012). Using the films schema, we can
identify good looks as big breasts, big butts, nice hair, fixed nails, and a clean
appearance overall. Caya
Marketing Swot and Pest Analysis on Aston Martin 2008
The current economic crisis has spread havoc across local and global markets. There
can be no place for doubt that certain automobile manufacturers and retailers would

Perse Satrapi Analysis
Growing up in Iran exposed Satrapi to numerous atrocities. She experienced first
hand the realities of war, death, and oppression. Formative and influential on Satrapi
s outlook on life, these experiences will sculpt her opinions and world views. As a
result of her arduous childhood, Satrapi gained a unique comprehension of difficult
concepts such as war, death, and freedom. On the other hand, the same experiences
that gave her early maturity and compassion early on, might result in turning into an
isolating factor when she moves and is engulfed by a foreign culturewithout anyone
to guide her through it. The events of her childhood could create a cultural barrier
and the people she is surrounded by probably will not be able to relate to her or
understand her struggles. The experiences she went through as a child leave her
completely unprepared to leave her family behind and venture into an entirely
different world by herself. Having lived through a time of war in Iran, Satrapi might
have strenuous experiencetrying to adjust to the cultureof another country. Since she
has experienced the oppression of basic human rights to speak and believe their own
truths, a place where these rights are granted might be a hard thing to transition to.

The Gospel Of Jesus Christ
When sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we must have a heart for God, because if
we have a heart for God, we can have a heart for His people. Through evangelism,
we can reach the non believers in effort to convert them over to Christianity, so they
can experience the love of Jesus Christ. Evangelism is the core, the heart that leads
non believers to salvation. As they repent and confess their sins, they become a part
of JesusChrist family, and the power of the Holy Spirit is imparted into them
(Doerksen, 2012, p. 3).
Believers in many nations look to Christianity as the foundation upon which to build
their societies (Yung, 2011, p. 44), and the same was true during the time period of
Apostle Paul. Apostle Paul speaks to the Corinthians and Colossians of the
importance of sharing the Gospel, and to make sure Christ always gets the glory.
Therefore, when he addresses the people of Corinth, he explains that his authority
comes from the Holy Spirit. Paul wanted the Church of Corinth to rely on the power
of God, and not on their spiritual gifts they had received. His intention was not to
persuade them with eloquent language, but only through power of the Gospel.
In II Corinthians 4:1 4, Paul explains to the people of Corinth, because of God s
mercy we do not give up, we keep pushing and preaching. In addition, he explains
there is nothing deceitful about his preaching, but the Lord has blinded certain
individuals, and the only way the blinders will be removed is

Descriptive Essay On Thunder
Back then in May of 2008, most days at work, I spent my time outside hiking and
walking ten to twenty miles a day, under pleasant, clear skies and sun in the fresh
Rocky Mountain air, where you can breathe deep and be refreshed. On May twenty
second around 11:00 A.M, I was outside and ten miles from home, enjoying the ever
changing weather of northern Colorado. The day started out clear, but grew
increasingly cloudy and windy not at all unusual for spring in the Rockies. East in the
distance, thunder drew my attention to the dark, ominous clouds traveling northwest,
bellowing up into the sky as lightning danced in, through, around, and from cloud to
cloud, indicative of thunder and hailstorms; I was thankful the looming and
foreboding stormwas there and not over me. Unaware I was seeing the birth and
growth of as many as seven tornados, forming a devastating wedge, ranging in
width from one half to three quarters of a mile wide; a monster with winds in
excess 165 miles per hour, moving toward and that would soon hit my home town of
Windsor, just before noon; I was oblivious to the peril and confusion my family and
friends would soon be facing from this encroaching demon.
As the day started out tranquil, Lauren, my youngest rode her bike to school to take
advantage of the pleasant weather, for her it was the last day of school and a half
day. Shortly before noon she and her friend would end their school year and start
summer vacation free from the four walls that could protect them, and out in the open
they would hop on their bikes and pedal the mile home.
Enjoying life and spending the day with her boyfriend, my daughter Brianna planned
to share a simple picnic lunch at noon with him. Despite the dark clouds and
increasing winds, they stopped at a local park to enjoy their meal. The winds soon
turned to gusts and gales; and hail stones quickly changed their plans.
Seeing the change in the weather, Lauren revised her plans and called home, asking
her mother to pick her up instead. Rain, wind, and hail was not in her forecast even
if it was a short ride.
Then, with little warning, at 11:50 A.M. a sickening heavy feeling engulfed Windsor
as dark gray green clouds obscured daylight and hope as violent
A Good Man Is Hard To Find By Flannery OConnor
Religion can be interpreted in many different ways depending on the believer. In fact,
people have different ideas and believe of grace and redemption. Many writers and
artists exert their religious values and beliefs in their work. A Good Man is Hard to
Find is a short story written by Flannery O Connor in 1953. Her ideas and beliefs of
graceand violence are reflected throughout the whole story. The theme of violent
versus grace is represented by the character of grandmother s family, the Misfit, and
the grandmother. Flannery O Connor represents the theme of grace versus violence
through the grandmother s family. In the conversationbetween Bailey and
grandmother, she states that [she] wouldn t take [her] children in any direction with
a criminal like that aloose in it. [She] couldn t answer to [her] conscience if [she]
did (O Connor 6). Bailey and the children ignore her comments and he continues
reading. The newspaper foreshadows the arrival of the Misfit and presents the
family, especially the grandmother, as a self centered character. The family is
unlikely to be the recipient of grace by their arrogant, selfish, and uncaring
characteristics. During the accident on the trip, June Star states that nobody s killed
with disappointment (O Connor 19). Her action reveals how unserious she is about
the accident and death. Consequently, she acts thoughtlessly in front of Bobby Lee,
calling him pig . The family is inconsiderate of the prospect of violence and death and
The Impact Of First Apache Helicopter On The United
States...
THE LIFING APPLIED BY THE UNITED STATES The first Apache helicopter
was delivered to the United States Army in 1997 by Boeing. The United States
Army now has more than 800 Apache aircraft in service. It has also exported over

To give a full representation of how other platforms utilise a crew escape system, 4
rotary wing aircraft were chosen. These were the UH 60 Black Hawk, the CH 47
Chinook, the AH 1 Cobra and the AW 159 Wildcat. For simplicity and to give a
better comparison for the Apache AH Mk1, only the cockpit crew escape systems
have been analysed, not the cabin escape system. UH 60 BLACK HAWK The UH
60 Black Hawk helicopter is manufactured by Sikorsky and has been in operation
since 1978. It is primarily used as a troop personnel carrier and provides a
logistical capability. The UH 60 Black Hawk has a purely manual operation of
door release. It has emergency release handles located on the inside of each of the
cockpit doors. If these handles are subsequently pulled with approximately 40 45
lbs. of force, the doors can be separated from the locating points. The door will then
be separated from the aircraft, allowing the aircrew to egress the aircraft. CH 47
CHINOOK The CH 47 Chinook is manufactured by Boeing, and has been exported
to both military and private operators worldwide. It is primarily used as a troop
and logistics transporter, as well as providing essential medical evacuation on
operations. The CH 47 Chinook emergency release handles are located above both
cockpit doors. They can be operated by either pulling or pushing the handles with
approximately 35 40 Ibs of force. Once the handles are operated the doors will simply
fall out. The CH 47 Chinook

Oedipus Character Analysis
In Act 1 King Lear decides to divide his throne amongst his three daughters; with the
purpose of conferring the kingdom onto younger strengths . To determine whether
they are worthy of the throne, he decides to ask them how much they loved him.
After being, disappointed by his favorite daughter s answer, conflict arises and
results in betrayal by his confidants and his other two daughters. Regardless of the
secondary character s intentions and feelings towards the King, Lear s impulsive
behavior is comparable to that of Oedipus. Lear s pride drives him to make an
irrational decision, as he lets his feelings ruin the kingship his worked towards his
entire life. It is, although, unclear whether this is typical of Lear s behavior or a
characteristic of a senile king, which foreshadows the king s madness.
Nonetheless, Oedipus s fate is proven to be doomed since the beginning of the
play, as he lives a tragedy that the reader can anticipate due to the foreshadowing of
Oedipus name and upbringing. Pride is visible in both characters as they fail to
listen to ones who care for them, and are blind in their life as rulers as well. Lear
for instance, exiles his daughter Cordelia over not understanding her argument for
loving him beyond words, in addition to exiling Kent, who is most loyal to him.
Similarly, Oedipus is offered aid by Tiresias upon being advised he possessed the
knowledge he needed; he refuses to acknowledge Tiresias predictions and defies him
by calling him a liar,

the North Carolina law Koufman v. Koufman, 330 N.C. 93, 97, 408 S.E.2d

defendants do, however, argue that the facts found fail to result in the conclusion
given based off Carolina Power Light Co. v. City of Asheville, 358 N.C. 512, 517,
597 S.E.2d 717, 721 (2004). Because of that the court decided it will review the
defendants challenges using a de novo standard of review. The court ended up
saying the result will be based off whether a relationship was present when Mr.
King signed the arbitration agreement. However, they don t think it was properly
looked at based off a doctor patient relationship. The court had decided to look at it
to see if there was a fiduciary relationship present when Mr. King signed the
arbitration agreement. The court went on to say that in order for there to be a breach
of fiduciary, that relationship had to be present first. The court then mentions that
Mr. King went to Dr. Bryant because of Dr. Bryant s Knowledge in the surgical area
needed to repair Mr.

  • 1. Descriptive Essay On A Rainy Day Writing an essay on the topic "Descriptive Essay On A Rainy Day" can present both challenges and opportunities for creativity. While the theme itself offers a plethora of sensory details and emotions to explore, it also demands a delicate balance between vivid description and maintaining a coherent narrative. Capturing the essence of a rainy day involves tapping into one's ability to evoke the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings associated with rain. The challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions, aiming instead for a unique and personal perspective that engages the reader. Finding the right words to express the atmosphere, the rhythmic pattering of raindrops, the earthy scent of wet soil, and the subtle changes in mood and ambiance can be a nuanced task. Striking a balance between providing rich sensory details and maintaining a coherent structure is crucial. The risk of veering into overly sentimental or melodramatic territory is ever-present, requiring careful consideration of tone and language. • 2. Egyptian And Mexican Pyramids Essay Mysteries of the Ancient World For many centuries people have been fascinated by ancient cultures and treasures. During the last two centuries the science of archeology and modern inventions allowed people to get inside of the Egyptian and Mayan pyramids and discover the treasures of Egyptian pharaohs and Mayan rulers. Most of what we know about Egypt we owe to the pyramids. Thanks to Egyptian belief in the afterlife we can now find out about the civilization that existed nearly five thousand years ago. Egyptian culture is not the only culture that left us its heritage in pyramids. In America we find pyramids build by civilizations of Olmec and Maya about 7th century CE. These pyramids had different purposes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 6). The Maya built shrines, temples, and pyramids in honor of their gods, as well as to their kings, who ruled by all encompassing concept of Divine power. Most of Mayan pyramids are temples to the gods, not the burial tombs as in Egypt. Even though Maya sometimes buried there their rulers they always put the temple on the top of the pyramid. Egyptians had temples near the pyramid or right next to it for the ceremonial services, but it never was placed on top of the structure. Also buildings in both cultures have a lot in common in their visual characteristics they are different structures. Egyptian pyramids originally had smooth equal sides meeting on the top in the perfect apex. Mayan pyramids look like one huge stairway towards the sky. It reminds of earliest Egyptian structures mastabas, where one layer of stones was put onto another creating the effect of pyramid. Also The Tikal Temple on Great Plaza was originally plastered white. Then the roof comb was painted with reds, blues, and other colors to accent the different areas of sculptural decoration. These roof combs were like giant billboards, with immense portrayals of the enthroned king, larger then life size (Cities pars.3). Egyptians never colored their religious structures. As well as in Egyptian pyramids, the stone used to construct Mayan pyramids is local limestone, obtained from nearby quarries. The ancient Maya had no stone tools but limestone is soft enough that the Maya could utilize

The Kurt Lewin change theory implements the three step method of unfreeze, change, and freeze. A summary of the change theory allows the manager or change agent an idea of what implementing change means when dealing with people. The model provides guidance on how to go about getting people to change: a manager will implement new processes and re assign tasks, but change will only be effective if the people involved embrace it and help putting it into practice it. • 4. How Photography Affects The Social And Political Arena Photography had been around more than 20 years before the Civil War began. When pictures were taken, they showed colonels, bodies that were on the battlefield, even soldiers that were around the camp tent. A few photographers that will be discussed are Mathew Brady, Alexander Gardner, George Barnard and Timothy O Sullivan. I will talk about how their photographyaffected the social and political arena as well as how photography in contemporary society provides the public with an up close testimony to recent wars and global strife. Mathew Brady stated, My greatest aim has been to advance the art of photography and to make it what I think I have, a great and truthful medium of history. (Keya Morgan, 2004). In the social arena, Mathew Brady photographed people bringing them into his photography studio and they were connected, for example, that is where Mathew Brady met his wife Juliette Handy. Alexander Gardner worked for Mathew Brady as his assistant photographer. Although it was Brady s name on most of the photographs, it was Gardner that took the photographs. When the Civil War started, portrait photography s demand increased. Soldiers wanted to leave photographs and images behind with their loved ones as they posed before going to war. (Group of officers at Headquarters Army of Potomac, ppmsca 34178 http://hdl.loc.gov/loc.pnp/ppmsca.34178) Alexander Gardner was more so known for his photographs of scenery instead of the troops. While he worked with Mathew Brady that was his focus, but once he departed from Mathew, Alexander began taking photographs of the scenes. Other photographers took pictures of the troops and men during the Peninsula Campaign in Virginia, but it was Alexander Gardner that took them of the scenery; which is how he affected the political arena. He showed a difference in campaigning. His photography affected the social arena by using the camera differently and started something new, instead of taking one photo at a time, he took four. Before Gardner died he said, It is designed to speak for itself. As mementos of the

  • 8. The Importance Of Technology In Feed In the futuristic world M.T Anderson creates in Feed, the misuse of technology is a problem the world faces. The novel Feed describes how the world could be in the future if humans let technology rule their lives. Anderson wants the reader to realize the effect technology has on our lives, and he also wants us to understand how we are being controlled and manipulated by media. Therefore, Anderson, fearing that one day technology will surpass humanity by creating a society of idiots like in the novel Feed, warns the reader from the futureour society might face if we don t make a change soon. The novel describes scenarios of the world where we live. For example: people are becoming less intelligent because technology is dominating the human race. Moreover, One major theme is how technology, including media and advertising, ruins the future. Since the feed is in the teenagers head, they live and die by the feed. Everything they want is Instantaneous. They no longer have a reason to think as individuals and increase there Intelligence. Instead, they are content with having technology do everything for them. They cannot even read or write because everything they need is done by the feed. In School, teenagers learn about the feed, how to find the best bargains, how to get a job and how to decorate their rooms. Regular subjects such as literature and math are not in School. The constant advertisements running through their heads also ruin the future of the human race.
  • 9. Defining Characteristics Of The 12 Step Approach Introduction A brief overview of the defining characteristics of the 12 step approach (Baldwin et al., 2011, Bateson, 1971, Jellinek, 1960, Lacan and Miller, 1998, Raikhel and Garriott, 2013, Schenker, 2009, University of Chester, 2016, Wilcox, 1998) with particular focus on its definition (NCCMH, 2008) and UK based studies (Best et al., 2001, Day et al., 2005, Harris et al., 2003) recognising the translatability of the 12 steps relating to higher power and personal responsibility (Appendix 1, p.11) create tensions for client/patient engagement (Best et al., 2001, Harris et al., 2003) and staff/professional referral (Day et al., 2005). A commissioned report by National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health (NCCMH, 2008) by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and a recent 8 year review of the aforementioned (NICE, 2016) inform current NICE guidelines including referrals to 12 step (NICE, 2007). The current evidence base (NCCMH, 2008) uses a systematic review of the literature (McAuliffe, 1990, Etheridge et al., 1999, Moos et al., 1999, Fiorentine and Hillhouse, 2000, Toumbourou et al., 2002, Weiss et al., 2005, Timko et al., 2006). An 8 year review of the evidence (NICE, 2016) finds no new evidence to warrant evolving the existing guideline, providing supporting evidence and emerging evidence to inform the current guidelines (Johnson et al., 2006, Kelly et al., 2010, Laudet et al., 2006, McKellar et al., 2009, Timko and DeBenedetti, 2007). • 10. How The Renaissance Changed European Society The Renaissance was a time of rebirth for Western Europe. The Renaissance changed the economic, political, and social factors of Europe to modern day society opposed to the mid evil way of life. The Renaissance ended the dark ages with its art and thoughts on religion. This was important because it changed society. Economically, trade grew, along with trade value, as the times began to change from city to city. Politically, the authority of the Catholic Church had been swept away along with the conflict between the estates over power. Socially, the arts flourished thought all of Italyand then all of Europe. The Renaissancechanged these three factors and thus was important because it changed how we see our modern world today. Coming out of the Dark Ages, Europe was about to change forever. The Renaissance was a revolutionary time for Europe. The Renaissance changed everything such as religion, economics, politics, and social values. • 11. My Experience Of College Writing In High School High School: The light grey, concrete building rose from the ground, looking like something out of a dystopian novel. I was rapidly approaching Herter Hall, where my dreaded College Writing class would take place, with an overwhelming urge to turn around. I was so anxious because up until my first semester at college, writing had been synonymous with pure stress. In all of my previous writing classes, I was either assigned literary analysis papers, or papers on the same controversial issues (gun control or the death penalty). Furthermore, I was always instructed to follow a very specific format, which made my essays very repetitive. After four years of writing nearly the same essay, I had become very frustrated because my creativity and perspective was being confined. Despite my hatred for the class, I considered myself to be a decent writer. Seldom did I get lower than an A on an essay in high school, and most teachers gave me praise for my insightful analysis. That being said, I knew college writing would be more difficult than high school, and I was nervous because I severely lacked revision skills. In the past, I would become very partial to my writing and turned a blind eye to poor sentence structure, organization, or style choices. As a result, my essays were generally only looked over for grammatical errors. Intro to College Writing: My excitement was nonexistent and my attitude was poor that first day of writing class, and it remained that way until we began

In order to avoid these penalties, healthcare leaders must recognize that CMS has identified a correlation between readmissions and a lack of quality care. Therefore, the aim is not to focus solely on hospitalreadmissions, but to seek clinical excellence by investing in quality improvement (Silow Carrol, Edwards Lashbrook, 2011). However, reducing readmissions is a complex undertaking, because not all readmissions can or should be prevented. Indeed, some readmissions are planned as part of sound clinical care. Furthermore, while hospitals work to reduce readmissions caused
  • 14. Apple And Android Vs. Android Apple or Android? This is a question several people ask themselves before purchasing certain electronics today. Both Apple and Android are especially dominant in the phone market where they have been competing head to head with each other for around a decade. Both also have some rather interesting background history, from the development of their devices to the great masterminds behind the tech. It is also fascinating to take a look back in time and compare what was then to what is now and see how much technology has evolved in a relatively short amount of time. But one has to be superior to the other, right? Apple is better and more superior when compared to Android because it has a richer and more interesting history, sells more smartphones than their leading Android competitor, and their tablets offer better prices and functions than Androids . Both Apple and Android have a great, and rather interesting, history behind them, but Apple s is quite the story. Most people don t realize this, but Apple has been around for decades. The company was created way back in 1976 which is quite a while ago. A trivial choice at first glance but on secondary analysis, it is apparent that he is given little say. Acts of revenge and antagonistic rage develop a pattern throughout his hosue. Euripides provides the prologue for Agamemnons death in The Oresteia with Iphigenia in Aulis. After much wavering, Agamemnon elects to sacrifice his daughter for the sake of the Grecian army. Iphigenia dutifully accepts her demise and attenuates her father s decision. She has little choice but to face her death full heartedly. With neither hope of being spared nor fear of death, she takes credit as becoming the savior of Greece. Agamemnon and Iphigenia are given little... Methods Of Control In George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty-4 Methods of Control in George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty four By: Crystal TachГ© For: Robert Axford Subject: ENG4C Date: 12/19/2017 St. Johns Adult Education Propaganda is to a democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state. ~Noam Chomsky George Orwell was a brilliant author. As we will see through his writing he had the capability to alter our perceptions of reality. He made the unreal seem real, and the real seem unreal as if we were seeing it for the first time. This was shown in Orwell s famous book Nineteen Eighty four with how convincingly he displays the methods of control used by The Party. Dictators rule over the masses with near absolute power, using control methods mostly unknown to the general population to sculpt and manipulate their people into whatever they desire. The totalitarian government of Oceania was the same, except that they had complete control over their citizens. Using a variety of techniques that Orwell described and that this paper will examine, the Party had almost completely forced the population into total submission and obedience. Nineteen Eighty four was a critical piece of literature as it depicted a dystopian vision of what can happen to us today, if we do not stay vigilant and continue to hold our governments accountable. Oceania wass run by a system of government called the Party which was led by Big Brother. Big Brother was the conceptual leader and the ostensible head of Oceania. Orwell did not make it clear whether Big
  • 17. Summary Of The Windhover By Gerard Manley Hopkins The Windhover Explication Gerard Manley Hopkins, The Windhover, has been described as one of the most challenging poems to explicate, so with my limited knowledge I will attempt to do this correctly and disagree with professors who have studied this poem far longer than I have. The breaking of the word kingdom between line 1 and 2 is meaningful. The falcon is described as both morning s minion and king. If the break were after dom there would have been less exaltation of the falcon, which Hopkins sets up by using the dynamic verb caught, which implies spontaneity, joy, and delight, instead of a more mundane verb like view or note. The division of the word kingdom also allows for two simultaneous interpretations of the first two lines. The first interpretation being that the falcon is the kingdom, and the other being that the falcon is the dauphin of the dom(e) of daylight (Rudanko 176). For the sequence dapple dawn drawn sequence Rudanko proposes 4 possible ways of interpretation based on previous literary analysis and his own which are as follows: (1) The falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. (2) The falcon is sketched against the dappled dawn. (3) The dappled falcon is attracted by the dawn. (4) The dappled falcon is sketched in silhouette against the dawn (Rudanko 176). However, immediately following this sequence the falcon is described as riding therefore it is not plausible that 2 or 4 are accurate interpretations of the sequence given that the dappling of the bird would be imperceptible if he were to be silhouetted and that if the dawn is dappled there would be enough light in the rest of the sky to illuminate the bird enough for it to not just appear as a silhouette. The only question left to answer is then, is the sky dappled or is the bird? When the poem is read aloud, as Hopkins intended with his works, the most natural way of hearing it is that the dawn is dappled. Hopkins has also described the sky as being dappled in other poems such as Pied Beauty, leading to the conclusion that option 1 is the way in which the sequence should be read, that the falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. There is much less ambiguity over the line, Of the rolling level underneath him steady air,

Introduction This paper aims at investigating potential sustainable solutions for waste of the West Garforth Township Development Project. It will aim at giving an assessment of the proposals of how waste will be handled in the area during the construction phase as well as when the development is in its operational phase. This is to cater for a population that is projected to increase by approximately 15% 25%. This paper also aims at assessing the feasibility of the chosen approaches including knock on effects that would affect different aspects of the development. Key Planning Objectives The proposals chosen are aimed more at trying to use waste as a resource that can be recycled and looking at its disposal as a secondary option to minimize on economic costs. This will be chosen according to adequacy and effectiveness of the chosen the proposal. They also aim at creating a system in which the locals will have to take responsibility for the waste emission during operation of the development project and provide waste management facilities to meet the needs of the locals. Moreover, to ensure that the waste is handled in a manner that would neither pollute the environment nor affect human health in a negative way. During the construction phase During this phase the production of waste materials is inevitable. Therefore, measures should be taken in order to the ensure the minimum waste is produced. This can be effectively implemented the following; i). Reducing the waste

Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Little Red Cap. Everyone believed that she was a sweet and innocent girl, but did someone else lay beneath her exterior? In the Brothers Grimm version of the story, Little Red Cap takes on the persona of childlike innocence. In the animated movie Hoodwinked!, she is seen as a young girl who is smart, independent, and named Red. There are numerous fairy tales that have been told throughout the course of history. Many of the tales remain independent and true to the original version, and then there are those that have been altered in many different ways. Little Red Cap has been revised into the version of Little Red Riding Hood, which many of us are familiar with, to the different and modern film version of Hoodwinked!. These stories are updated to appeal to modern generations, cultures and societal views. Consequently, they do pose many similarities, but their differences make each work unique in their own way. In the film Hoodwinked! directed by Cory Edwards, Todd Edwards, and Tony Leech, the film s main theme revolves around the idea that you cannot judge a book by its cover. It goes beyond the original character ideas of the Little Red Cap s Story, and creates altered stories for each of the primary characters. The directors of Hoodwinked! have taken the story of Little Red Cap , and dramatically twisted the ideas of what roles each character plays. There are people that would argue that Hoodwinked! is a ripoff of the original story, however with an open mind, one can appreciate the creative twist they have given to a classic tale. The story starts with Red traveling to her grandmother s house where she is attacked by a wolf along the way. The wolf believes that Red has stolen the grandmother s recipes, however Red does not see it that way. Red believes that the wolf is trying to trick her so that he can eat her, but that is not the case as we find out later. Fahrenheit 451 is about a man named Guy Montag living in a future in which books are outlawed. Guy is a fireman whose job it is to burn all remaining books currently located in his city. However, when Guy meets a strange girl living outside of his apartment, he becomes intrigued with what books have the power to do. Instead of following orders, Guy starts wondering why he is doing what he is told to do rather than just doing what he is told. Breakfast of Champions is a science fiction noveldescribing the lives of two strange men. One of these men is Kilgore Trout, an unheard of novelist who will soon become one of the most famous men in America. The other man in this story is Dwayne Hoover, a wealthy man who made his fortune off of speculation on the stock market. Despite his luxurious home and fantastic job, Dwayne will soon be appalled by Kilgore Trout s idea that everyone around Dwayne is a robot. In both of these novels, change is an essential theme. In Fahrenheit 451, focus will be brought on the change of the world in which Guy resides, and also the change of Guy as a person, while in Breakfast of Champions, the focus of change is how much America has changed since 1973. We need it in our everyday lives because it helps us understand why people do what they do. Like when we ask our minister if we can do something and he says no, then we have to accept it and take no for an answer, trusting he had a good reason why he said no. Because he always has a good reason when he says something. Sometimes he says no because he doesn t want us to get hurt emotionally or physically, which we could. Sometimes we think adults don t let us do things just to control us and to make our lives miserable, which I believe a lot. But do they really, or are they just trying to teach us something because they made the same mistake. We sometimes have to learn it on our own, our parents have been through much more in life then we have, so they understand quite clearly what we are going through. Many individuals and doctors have their own way of thinking how the body and mind develops. Their ideas have no right or wrong answers and are mere guesses of human growth. No one idea can be applied directly to a person, without looking at another idea also. To prove these explanations of psychology, scientific methods are used. Teachers may use all patterns of ideas in their lesson planning for children. Teachers choose what ideas to apply in the classroom by what is best proven, and what is in the best interest of the child. They must also look at what has been effective in their teaching in the past. If the idea does not work, then it should be removed from the class, replaced or changed. Each idea has their strong points as well as their weak ones. To avoid the extreme differences in psychology opinions of the ideas you must use the common methods offered. It is hard for teachers to apply one idea to different children, this is due to the fact that none of use grow up the exact same way. • 36. Perse Satrapi Analysis Growing up in Iran exposed Satrapi to numerous atrocities. She experienced first hand the realities of war, death, and oppression. Formative and influential on Satrapi s outlook on life, these experiences will sculpt her opinions and world views. As a result of her arduous childhood, Satrapi gained a unique comprehension of difficult concepts such as war, death, and freedom. On the other hand, the same experiences that gave her early maturity and compassion early on, might result in turning into an isolating factor when she moves and is engulfed by a foreign culturewithout anyone to guide her through it. The events of her childhood could create a cultural barrier and the people she is surrounded by probably will not be able to relate to her or understand her struggles. The experiences she went through as a child leave her completely unprepared to leave her family behind and venture into an entirely different world by herself. Having lived through a time of war in Iran, Satrapi might have strenuous experiencetrying to adjust to the cultureof another country. Since she has experienced the oppression of basic human rights to speak and believe their own truths, a place where these rights are granted might be a hard thing to transition to. • 39. The Gospel Of Jesus Christ When sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we must have a heart for God, because if we have a heart for God, we can have a heart for His people. Through evangelism, we can reach the non believers in effort to convert them over to Christianity, so they can experience the love of Jesus Christ. Evangelism is the core, the heart that leads non believers to salvation. As they repent and confess their sins, they become a part of JesusChrist family, and the power of the Holy Spirit is imparted into them (Doerksen, 2012, p. 3). Believers in many nations look to Christianity as the foundation upon which to build their societies (Yung, 2011, p. 44), and the same was true during the time period of Apostle Paul. Apostle Paul speaks to the Corinthians and Colossians of the importance of sharing the Gospel, and to make sure Christ always gets the glory. Therefore, when he addresses the people of Corinth, he explains that his authority comes from the Holy Spirit. Paul wanted the Church of Corinth to rely on the power of God, and not on their spiritual gifts they had received. His intention was not to persuade them with eloquent language, but only through power of the Gospel. In II Corinthians 4:1 4, Paul explains to the people of Corinth, because of God s mercy we do not give up, we keep pushing and preaching. In addition, he explains there is nothing deceitful about his preaching, but the Lord has blinded certain individuals, and the only way the blinders will be removed is

Descriptive Essay On Thunder Back then in May of 2008, most days at work, I spent my time outside hiking and walking ten to twenty miles a day, under pleasant, clear skies and sun in the fresh Rocky Mountain air, where you can breathe deep and be refreshed. On May twenty second around 11:00 A.M, I was outside and ten miles from home, enjoying the ever changing weather of northern Colorado. The day started out clear, but grew increasingly cloudy and windy not at all unusual for spring in the Rockies. East in the distance, thunder drew my attention to the dark, ominous clouds traveling northwest, bellowing up into the sky as lightning danced in, through, around, and from cloud to cloud, indicative of thunder and hailstorms; I was thankful the looming and foreboding stormwas there and not over me. Unaware I was seeing the birth and growth of as many as seven tornados, forming a devastating wedge, ranging in width from one half to three quarters of a mile wide; a monster with winds in excess 165 miles per hour, moving toward and that would soon hit my home town of Windsor, just before noon; I was oblivious to the peril and confusion my family and friends would soon be facing from this encroaching demon. As the day started out tranquil, Lauren, my youngest rode her bike to school to take advantage of the pleasant weather, for her it was the last day of school and a half day. Shortly before noon she and her friend would end their school year and start summer vacation free from the four walls that could protect them, and out in the open they would hop on their bikes and pedal the mile home. Enjoying life and spending the day with her boyfriend, my daughter Brianna planned to share a simple picnic lunch at noon with him. Despite the dark clouds and increasing winds, they stopped at a local park to enjoy their meal. The winds soon turned to gusts and gales; and hail stones quickly changed their plans. Seeing the change in the weather, Lauren revised her plans and called home, asking her mother to pick her up instead. Rain, wind, and hail was not in her forecast even if it was a short ride. Then, with little warning, at 11:50 A.M. a sickening heavy feeling engulfed Windsor as dark gray green clouds obscured daylight and hope as violent
  • 42. A Good Man Is Hard To Find By Flannery OConnor Religion can be interpreted in many different ways depending on the believer. In fact, people have different ideas and believe of grace and redemption. Many writers and artists exert their religious values and beliefs in their work. A Good Man is Hard to Find is a short story written by Flannery O Connor in 1953. Her ideas and beliefs of graceand violence are reflected throughout the whole story. The theme of violent versus grace is represented by the character of grandmother s family, the Misfit, and the grandmother. Flannery O Connor represents the theme of grace versus violence through the grandmother s family. In the conversationbetween Bailey and grandmother, she states that [she] wouldn t take [her] children in any direction with a criminal like that aloose in it. [She] couldn t answer to [her] conscience if [she] did (O Connor 6). Bailey and the children ignore her comments and he continues reading. The newspaper foreshadows the arrival of the Misfit and presents the family, especially the grandmother, as a self centered character. The family is unlikely to be the recipient of grace by their arrogant, selfish, and uncaring characteristics. During the accident on the trip, June Star states that nobody s killed with disappointment (O Connor 19). Her action reveals how unserious she is about the accident and death. Consequently, she acts thoughtlessly in front of Bobby Lee, calling him pig . The family is inconsiderate of the prospect of violence and death and

For simplicity and to give a better comparison for the Apache AH Mk1, only the cockpit crew escape systems have been analysed, not the cabin escape system. UH 60 BLACK HAWK The UH 60 Black Hawk helicopter is manufactured by Sikorsky and has been in operation since 1978. It is primarily used as a troop personnel carrier and provides a logistical capability. The UH 60 Black Hawk has a purely manual operation of door release. It has emergency release handles located on the inside of each of the cockpit doors. If these handles are subsequently pulled with approximately 40 45 lbs. of force, the doors can be separated from the locating points. The door will then be separated from the aircraft, allowing the aircrew to egress the aircraft. CH 47 CHINOOK The CH 47 Chinook is manufactured by Boeing, and has been exported to both military and private operators worldwide. It is primarily used as a troop and logistics transporter, as well as providing essential medical evacuation on operations. The CH 47 Chinook emergency release handles are located above both cockpit doors. They can be operated by either pulling or pushing the handles with approximately 35 40 Ibs of force. After being, disappointed by his favorite daughter s answer, conflict arises and results in betrayal by his confidants and his other two daughters. Regardless of the secondary character s intentions and feelings towards the King, Lear s impulsive behavior is comparable to that of Oedipus. Lear s pride drives him to make an irrational decision, as he lets his feelings ruin the kingship his worked towards his entire life. It is, although, unclear whether this is typical of Lear s behavior or a characteristic of a senile king, which foreshadows the king s madness. Nonetheless, Oedipus s fate is proven to be doomed since the beginning of the play, as he lives a tragedy that the reader can anticipate due to the foreshadowing of Oedipus name and upbringing. Pride is visible in both characters as they fail to listen to ones who care for them, and are blind in their life as rulers as well. Lear for instance, exiles his daughter Cordelia over not understanding her argument for loving him beyond words, in addition to exiling Kent, who is most loyal to him. Similarly, Oedipus is offered aid by Tiresias upon being advised he possessed the knowledge he needed; he refuses to acknowledge Tiresias predictions and defies him by calling him a liar,

However, they don t think it was properly looked at based off a doctor patient relationship. The court had decided to look at it to see if there was a fiduciary relationship present when Mr. King signed the arbitration agreement. The court went on to say that in order for there to be a breach of fiduciary, that relationship had to be present first. The court then mentions that Mr. King went to Dr. Bryant because of Dr. Bryant s Knowledge in the surgical area needed to repair Mr.
