Jay Asher s novel, Thirteen Reasons Why, begins with Clay Jensen, the narrator,
receiving a mysterious package at his door. The package contains the audiotaped
suicide notes of Hannah Baker, who was Clay s crush before she killed herself about
two weeks ago. In the package, there are a seven cassette tapes with thirteen different
stories on them. On cassette number one, Hannah informs the people receiving the
package that she holds them responsible for her death, which is explained on the
tapes. After listening, each person must give the tapes to the next person on the list
and if anybody fails to complete this task, the recordings will be made public. Along
with the tapes, there is a map marked with destinations that the listeners are meant...
The novel consists of Hannah Baker s audiotaped explanation of her suicide and
Clay Jensen s reactions. It moves back and forth between these two character s
thoughts and actions. By using first person point of view, Jay Asher was
effectively able to add a level emotion which the reader would never be able to get
from a third person point of view. This is demonstrated when Hannah says, I wish I
would die. I ve thought those words many times. But it s a hard thing to say out
loud. It s even scarier to feel you might mean it (254). It is unbelievable to think
that you re inside the mind of a suicidal teen. Even though it is scary, it is the only
way the reader is truly able to understand Hannah Baker and the reasons why she
killed herself. Furthermore, getting the reactions of a person on the list, Clay
Jensen, intrigues the reader as it is interesting to know what time the person s name
will pop up, what they did to cause Hannah s suicide and their thoughts on
everything they re hearing. For instance, when Clay is thinking to himself about
Hannah, he says, What if I got to know you and you turned out to be just like they
said? What if you weren t the person I hoped you were? That more than anything,
would have hurt the most (207). With first person point of view, the reader can
understand Clay s thought process and have insight on what the other twelve people

Nat Turner s rebellion was one of the largest slave rebellions in the United States. Nat

the plantation believed he was a prophet and chosen by God to lead them to great

product, otherwise known as black gold. Coffee growers typically only get around
three cents from over $1.50 cup of coffee that is sold in the United States. The world
surrounding coffeeis not fair. There are so many problems that arise because of its

and ideas. Alongside the themes of freedom, race, rules, religion, and deceit lies
the most important theme throughout the entire story; family. Throughout the
novel, Huckleberry Finn battles with whether or not family supports and builds
you up or if it orders you around and tears down your ambitions. One quote that
perfectly describes this concept was spoken by Aishwarya Rai Bachan who stated
that, my family is my strength and my weakness. (Bachan 1). Family is a theme
that constantly emerges in Huckleberry Finn, one that is constantly getting re

Thousands people all over the world share their ideas to create future projects and
that project is in art and animation. It is really wise to start from the very beginning.
The process of creating or even preparing for a big project takes time. In order to
make a character or idea come to life one needs the right tools. This is where the
skills in art come in, basically the fun part. Everyone would like to see their ideas
come to life and sharing it with the public. Soon this will lead any person to create
a project that involves gaming and animated television shows. Before starting a
project there are a few things a person may need. A character may be the important
thing but there are other factors that are far more important. What would the
character do or what environment would it be placed in? The Developer also has to
think about the storyboard which involves writing. Every project needs to start with a
story (How a Game pg.1). A person can make up their own story and can also
receive help from anyone assisting in the project. Everyone may be inspired by
something they have seen which gives them many ideas for a good story. it is
important for the team to come up with a decision so they can know what fits. Once
it is decided the team will start to work on the storyboard (How a Game pg.2).

In the novel, marriage is more about economic status and opportunity rather than
love. Marriage is supposed to be about abundant mutual love between two people. In
this case, marriage is viewed more as an for opportunity to receive citizenship and a
way to improve your of social status. Relationships and marriageare a common theme
throughout the novel.
Obinze s marriage with Cleotilde is one another example in the book of how
marriage for men is viewed as a path to improving your chances of receiving
citizenship. Obinzes attempt to marry Cleotilde was a true fabrication and is not a
very good example of what love actually means. When they first met, Obinze s
sense of entitlement, and superiority made in very difficult for him to treat Cleo as
she deserved to be treated. A fake marriage of convenience not for love but for the
opportunity of citizenship is contrary to Obinze s morals. This causes Obinze to
have a moral crisis inside and question the path he has taken in life. Normally
marriage happens when two people decide that they would rather spend time together
than apart and would find it difficult to continue without the other. In a normal
relationship couples will from time to time face adversity and together work to
overcome whatever challenges they face, but the adversity faced by the couple in
this novel are bigger and more complex than what other couples would typically face.
