Best Single Measure Of The Economic Well-Being Of A Society
According to the economics textbook used in the classroom, gross domestic product (GDP) can be
defined as the market value of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given
period of time. There are four major components of gross domestic product including consumption,
investment, government purchases, and net exports. Each of these components plays a major roles
when dealing with GDP and when attempting to understand the role of the gross domestic product
when measuring a nation s income. It has been said that when measuring a nation s income GDP
per capita seems to be the best available objective measure. The textbook states GDP was called
the best single measure of the economic well being of a society. (496). There are... Show more

This is important because there are many negative consequences that should be taken into
consideration in regards to the environment. Some of the consequences that should be considered
are the side effects of economic expansion such as pollution, lack of natural resources and it also
does not account for the way that we gain and benefit from the environment. Some examples of
economic benefits that we receive from the environment are lands we can sell, trees and plants
that are put up for sale, use of environmental factors to build and produce other products among
many other things that can also be included economically beneficial from environmental factors.
Not only do the side effects have an impact on the environment such as pollution, they also have
an impact on the economy because money that was used to destroy the environment such as
building and factories is also being used in an attempt to repair the economy such as rebuilding
reefs and investing in national parks. The overall quality of the environment is very important to
the society s well being because without it there could be a large variety of possibly very severe

Stereotypes In Pretty Woman
Pretty Woman is a rags to riches romantic comedy directed by Gary Marshall in 1990. It is a dark
warning tale about class and sex work in Los Angeles. The story centers on down on her luck
Hollywood prostitute Vivian Ward who is portrayed by Julia Roberts, who is hired by Edward
Lewis, portrayed by Richard Gere, a wealthy businessman who wants Vivian to be his escort for
various social upper class events and businesses and their emerging relationship during her stay with
him.
The characters in the film goes as follows:
Edward Lewis, a rich corporate businessman and womanizer from New York. He is shown to be
assertive, prideful and egoistic man. Portrayed by Richard Gere.
Vivian Ward, a pretty womanwho is a lady of the evening with a heart of gold but also independent
and assertive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie discusses till what extent does the depiction of sex and sexuality are acceptable in
social hierarchy. Vivian s empowerment is seen when she first steps in the car with Edward when
he does not have the enough knowledge about cars whereas Vivian does. Driving is stereotypically
seen as an masculine activity, hence this scene portrays an amazing reversal of gender roles. It is
also seen how Edward is taken a back by Vivian s confidence and independence, not traits
stereotypically associated with prostitutes. Pretty Woman
Questions the tolerance of modern society to display of sexuality, drawing parallels between sex
and power. Throughout the film, parallels are shown between Edward and Vivian s work despite
the fact that they are polar opposite social classes.

The United States Foundation And New England
The United States foundation started off with the thirteen colonies. The thirteen colonies consists of
Maryland, New Hampshire, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware, North
Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. All of them were
separated into three categories. These categories are known as Southern, New England, and Middle
colonies.
The New England colonies consists of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New
Hampshire. In New England the types of settlers were basically English, Puritan, and farmers. Also
the Geography/climate is known as rocky, forests, hilly, poor soil, long winters, and limited
farming. In New England major towns they built around a commons, Boston, Providence, and
newports. The major economic activities that new england did small farms, merchants, craftsmen,
boatbuilding, whaling, lumbering, and fishing or gathering fish. The religious groups back in the
time in that area was the Puritans and they were very strict, gloomy, and superstitious. The
educational opportunities that the colonies were given in this place were pretty clear and straight
to the point. There was schooling for both boys and girls which means sex differentiality didn t
really mean anything well it s kind of like it is today. Only that in those times the only allowed

Analysis Of Stag s Leap By Sharon Olds
Stag s Leap
Sharon Olds is a prominent feminist writer in the American Literature. She was born in San
Francisco and attended Stanford and Columbia universities. Her first book, Satan Says (1980)
received the inaugural San Francisco Poetry Center Award and her second, The Dead and the
Living, was both the Lamont Poetry Selection for 1983 and winner of the National Book Critics
Circle Award (Olds). Her writings have attracted leaders all over the world, and the most
remarkable collection of her career is Stag s Leap. (Kellaway) Stag s Leap, Old s most recent

Satan Says, her first award winning book is a feminist exploration of gender politics and
adolescent discovery. Olds Pulitzer Prize winning volume Stag Leap is a surprisingly tender look
at divorce in modern American culture. Olds poems often deal with the victories and
contradictions of being a woman in the United States during a time when the country has often
been involved in racial upheavals and military conflicts overseas. She investigates the victories
and contradictions of being a wife and mother during the era of feminism, as one of our most
honest, most overt poets of female sexuality and its relationship to family life and its place within
the history of humanity (Brickey). With the publication of Stag s Leap, it is very clear that Olds is
writing about the sudden, unexpected death of her 32 year marriage when her husband left to be
with another woman. For a book about the breakup of a marriage, there is a good deal of
feminist going on with Old s characteristic scathing honesty that will help to understand how this
collection of poems has gained so much attention. Old s demonstrates a poetic line with her
magic and imagery lively as ever, and brings a new range to the music sometimes headlong,
sometimes contemplative, and deep. This collection goes beyond the confessional, describing her
gift of intimacy in a sense. After decades of being closed in her marriage, she describes a love for

Hitler Youth Analysis
Moving away from the window, the young man walked toward a school desk, the only furniture
present in the room. He left a glass soda bottle, labelled Eagle s Flight , on top of it. Just as he
picked up the bottle, two teenagers, a boy and a girl, entered the room. The boy wore the winter
uniform of the Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth), the national youth movement of the German Reich. His
female accomplice, dressed in the winter uniform of the Hitler Youth s female wing, the Bund
Deutscher Mädel. They even carried handguns holstered around their hips.
After closing the door, the two saluted the young man, their right arms high above their shoulders.
Heil dir, Harold der kluger Mann Brotzman (Hail to thee, Harold the Wise Man Brotzman), they
chanted in unison.
Likewise, Harold saluted them in a similar manner. Ja, heil unser Deutschland (Yes, hail our
Germany), he responded. Kept you two waiting, huh? I ve been waiting here for the past several
hours!

A Personal Review Of David Foster Wallace s Letter To Me
I hope this letter finds you well. My mother recently received a letter in the mail pertaining to my
child support, which stated that the state has decided to increase the money I receive from my
father by 0.67%. I understand this is what the state has calculated to be the appropriate amount I
need to thrive as a young woman living in the 21st century in the United States. However, I
believe this conclusion was met erroneously as it is based on generalized statistics which are then
calculated to fit my lifestyle, which only people who have met me would know. Nonetheless,
when determining the life of someone one has never met, it s impossible to understand the exact

been thinking about it since third grade. When I was younger I d calculate the cost of college
with two parents put into consideration, and the expenses seemed quite reasonable. Then my
parents parted their ways, but as I d seen in fantasized movies, parents would still both chip in

Advantage Of Space Travel Technology
Advancing space travel capabilities for the better of mankind
Further developing space travel can lead to a much better and more advanced world. Advancing

of energy or elements that might be discovered. Traveling past the outer or inner most part of the
solar system and to earths celestial neighbors can prove vital in terms of research. Currently every
element that humanity knows about has been found on earth, brought to earth by interstellar
visitors such as asteroids, or were only observed being created due to a supernova of stars. As a
result of travelling to celestial satellites we may discover new elements, not native to earth. For
example, Dobransky said in an article posted in the International Journal of World Peace, With the
rapid depletion of oil and other common energy sources, alternative energy resources are being
pursued. After the Fukushima, Japan meltdown, there is a renewed effort to move towards safer
forms of power. Helium 3 is a source for fusion energy that has no chance of a nuclear meltdown
and it produces no radioactive waste. While there are very small quantities of Helium 3 here on
earth, there are vast quantities of it on the moon. It could be a very clean, abundant, and cheap
energy source for centuries to come. Just one future rocket trip to the moon could return with
enough Helium 3 to meet all of the U.S. s energy needs for one full year the fusion technology

Essay On Attending Parsons
Six years ago, I attended my first college tour during junior high school, we had an amazing tour
at Parsons: The New School. Through the visit, I discovered a new environment full of talented
people who weren t afraid to be themselves and not afraid to be judged or picked on because of
their race, gender, or sexuality. Attending Parsons: The New School will have a powerful impact
on my success in and out of college. Being an African Muslim male growing up in the U.S there
are restrictions and standards I must uphold to be considered a man. However, not living up to
these standards causes men like me to become outcast in society, afraid to open up restricting
themselves to live in a box.

Winesburg Character Analysis
Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson; is a collection of short stories reproducing the town of
many grotesques . Anderson defines the term grotesque as being a person that took one of the
truths to himself, call it his own truth, and tried to live his life by it (Anderson, 3). In the book,
each story is about a grotesquecharacter, including Wash Williams in the story Respectability .
Williams is the worst grotesque in the book. Specifically, the worst grotesque is a person who has
become obsessed with an idea or feelingand cannot accepta different opinion. Wash Williams is the
worst grotesque, because from what happened to him, his feelings towards change. He became
violent, he forces his opinions on others, and it seems to be unable to change his beliefs.
In Respectability , Wash Williams is an ugly, miserable man with no friends. Anderson describes
him as a huge ugly kind of ugly monkey, a creature with ugly sagging hairless skin below his
eyes, and a bright purple underbody. (Anderson, 68).Williams was the best operator in Ohio, but
after what happened to him, he got demoted to his state. Williams hated the people of the small
town, especially women. His obsession with hating women; took over his passion for work. He
viewed all women as Bitches because of his failed marriage, his feeling for men were different; he
pitied them. Does not every man let his life be managed for him by some bitch or another?

Hunter V Moss Criticisms Essay
Certainty of subject matter and the critcisms of hunter v moss
When creating an express trust knight and knight articulated that there must be certainty of subject
matter, certainty of intention and certainty of objects.
Certainty of subject matter is where there must be an identification of the trust property and
certainty as to whom is which part of the trust property to be held. In relation to uncertainty of
beneficial interests, the trust will fail where the method of distribution is stipulated by the sethlow
but cannot take effect (Boyce v Boyce). However the trust will not fail where the method of
distribution is not stipulated by the sethlow leaving the court to intervene (re napton). If there is an

However in Re Golay the court looked at the tester s intention . To deduce what reasonable income
meant
Oliver J articulated the orthodox approach or rule in re London wine where property must be
segregated form a lager mass of similar property for there to be a valid trust he said To create a
trust it must be possible to ascertain with certainty not only what the interest of the beneficiary is
to be but to what property it is to attach. The mere declaration that a given number of animals out
of the flock would be held on trust would not create a trust .
This approach was followed in re Goldcorp which affirmed that property must be separately
identifiable before it can be held on a valid trust.
The contention arose with Hunter v Moss which did not follow the orthodox approach where
Hunter was entitled 50 out of moss s 1000 shares. Under the Goldcorp rule there would be no
trust because the property was not separated however Dillon J said there was a valid trust. The
rationale for this controversial decision was that it would have made no difference which 50
shares would have been given because they were all identical. So here there was no need to
segregate the property if it was intangible.
The problem with this case is that Dillon is giving the trustee of the will who only has legal title
subject to the terms of the trust an executor status, i.e. putting him in the shoes of the sethlow. This
is a problem because the executor acquires legal

Power And Authority In Tang Dynasty
The definition of power is the ability to direct or influence the behavior of others. Literature is one
of the major mediums used to influence a person. One common medium that determines if the
writing has power to influence the behaviors of others is the literary skill of the author. During the
Tang Dynasty in China, there were many imperial pieces on politics matter that had power and
authority to influence people. Writers such as Ban Zhao and Han Yu BaiJuyi successfully wrote
many pieces that had much influence and impact over their intended audience. Literary skill
contributes to the writer s power and authority due to their ability to evoke an emotional response

In many of Han Yu BaiJuyi s poems during the Tang dynasty
, his use of contrast highlights the
constant theme of the suffering of the common people at the hands of the wealthier tier. He is
well educated in this issue due to the fact that he was the son of a minor official, but the family
was poor. He uses the poem format, which was mainly an aristocratic medium of art and
knowledge, to address how poor the common people are. Han Yu BaiJuyi writes about the class
differences during the Tang dynasty and addresses the common and wealthy lifestyles. In his
poem Light and Sleek , he writes After sweet Tung t ing Lake oranges and mince fish from a

and lake of heaven . He, then, ends with this stark contrast to the rich comforting vibe by not using
vivid adjectives and just stating that the people were just eating each other due of the lack of food.
This depicts that he is aware of the lifestyle differences and that there is an issue with the wealthy
having an abundance of materials while the poor do not have enough necessities to

Identity and its Underlying Context in Historical Events
As we grow new understandings and opinions form, creating a unique viewpoint of the world that

As people, we have inherent biased towards our own views of how the world works based on our
identity, place and the histories we have been taught. We only gain a clearer understandingof the
world when we open up and actively attempt to view the world from another perspective. This

Prior to asking my mother, some of my friends asked if I truly wanted to know the answer to this

political comment that was constructed throughout Triumph of the Will was that Hitler is a very

Sickle Cell Trait
Sickle Cell Trait (SCT) and Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) can be a serious problem for some people,
but at the same time, it can also be very beneficial to some people. Having SCT, means that you

unaffected and live normal lives. On the other hand, people who actually have SCD, can end up
dying for having it, and are forced to live irregular, difficult lives.
Sickle Cell Disease can be inherited from your parents. If both of the parents are carriers for Sickle

With malaria not affecting the people with SCD/SCT, they are able to keep reproducing and

An Analysis Of The Scarlet Letter
Adultery in Easy A Based of a Novel The Scarlet Letter
Saul Ibarra

In the movie Easy A a cinematic film directed by Will Gluck is a comedy about a girl in high
school whose social life completely changes because of a small lie that dominates her image. This
rumor connects to Nathaniel Hawthorne s the scarlet letter due to the fact that themes are drawn
such as sin and redemption.

This is solely based upon that they happen to be women that sinned not men.
Both Olive and Hester serve as symbols of social disobedience in both eras. Although back then
in 1642 Puritanical Boston the worst crime women could commit was adultery, both women
were no secret to the public about it. Hester is known for being embarked under a public
punishment given by her public society. Olive decides to take a different route in which other
than denying the rumor she embraces her given image, decides to buy and accommodate her
new lingerie clothing with the meaningful red letter A such as Hester herself. By adding red
letter Olive is connecting her life to the readings of The Scarlett Letter all while embracing the
sin of adultery. Olive implements these large Red Letter A s to make a social statement that if
people truly and honestly think she is an adulterer why not own it and have fun with the attention.
She gets this idea based on the novel that she is reading in high school The Scarlett Letter. The
Red Letters A s serve as a purpose to announce to public eye that she committed adultery and sin.
Although back in the sixteen hundred s it was a public punishment, in more modern times olive
Penderghast uses it to make a social statement. Easy A is about how society judges teens for their
sexuality especially girls. Olives exact words I used

The Effects Of Television Violence On Our Society
Our world has a variety of problems today, with violence being at the top of the list, you go
anywhere and that is all you here about. Unfortunately it s in front page headlines of the
newspaper and broadcasted on the news as top stories. Violence is a very big topic, although it is
categorized into many small groups. There is juvenile violence, domestic violence, hate violence,
terrorist violence, and violence displaced through various forms of the media. This research will
be on violence in the media and does it affect our society. How we view television, has changed
the world, no doubt in that. Turn your television set on and pick a channel at random; the odds
are that half of the programs you come across will contain violent material. The statistics are
overwhelming as I look on the internet, read articles, and look at the research. One of the things
that most interests me in the violence on television, is the effects it has on children. Children
learn by repetition while watching educational shows, so is learning violence on television an
exception? This research paper is directed to parents, educational providers, psychologists in

across the fact that adolescent boys and adult men are more drawn to violent television then
women. It will draw both genders for different

literature in America Essay
When I think of America, I think of freedom. We live in a country where we can do what we
choose. We can express our opinions and live our own lives. Individuals can form their own
individual beliefs and they can do what they want and pursue what they wish. They can play
basketball, go to school, get a job, have a family, buy a house, or go to church. We are free. We
have opportunity to be whatever we want to make ourselves. When you ask, what is an American?
I find it no different to ask, what is freedom? America and freedom are intertwined and this
relationship is evident in American literature.
The notion of freedom and everything relating to freedom unites all of the American literature we
have read. In Twain s Huckleberry Finn, Huck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Self Reliance, Emerson explains that our freedom to choose and our ability to think what we
want to think define what America is. I believe it is characteristic of Americans to strive for what
they think is right. In Poe s the House of Usher, Usher decided to bury his sister alive. I think
this story can relate to us today. Many people would say that America is known for persevering
through rough times. I d say the last few years have been a rough time for America, from 9/11 to
now the war in Iraq. Sometimes situations may seem unbeatable, like being trapped in a coffin,
but if you fight hard enough, like we are against the terrorists and in Iraq, you can overcome
anything. American s can overcome anything. Usher s sister was buried alive and finally broke
from the coffin after a week of struggle. Also, many of the authors we have studied describe nature
in riveting detail. To them and to me, our beautiful nature represents something more then just
what you see with your eye it represents America s freedom. In Emerson s Nature, Thorpe s The

How To Infect Salmon
At first when I started college, I was on the path to become a biologist. I wanted to get more
experience in the field, so I asked my advisor, Doctor Amanda Gunn, if there was had any
opportunities for me to get hands on experience in my field. She said she was studying
Aeromonas Salmonicida, a bacterium that causes diseases in salmon. She wanted me to use
bioinformatics tools to learn about its ability to infect salmon. The goal was to determine if certain
aspects of the bacterium could be modified or genetically engineered so the salmon s immune
system would be able to respond more efficiently. This lead me down the path of bioengineering, a
field of study where genetic material is altered for certain characteristics. After completing the...

I go to church on Saturday and while I am not out with my age group every week, I m with a
people who are at least a decade older or younger than me. Some of these people don t get to talk
people to people much so it s fun listening to their stories and fun having someone to listen to them.
People like military members, outdoorsman, and engineers. I also heard about the experience of
being homeless. Aberdeen gets very rainy and cold at night, so not having a place to stay is awful.
The rain from that isn t drained gets all over the sidewalk and whoever has to walk there for just
10 minutes gets their shoes soggy and moist. Imagine walking around all day and sleeping all
night in that! Being homeless also means it harder to afford find food. Hearing these stories
from people I talked to every week made me want to do something about it. I ran for ASB of my
high school and became the Senior Class President. I used my position to organize foodball, an
event where two cities compete to raise the most resources for the Coastal Harvest. That is a food
storage facility that donates to food banks across the State of Washington in times of emergency.
The year I was running it the two cities competing were Hoquiam and Aberdeen. Even though
the name was foodball, it wasn t just food we were collecting. It was also money to donate to and
help raise resources for food banks, like socks, shoes, and shirts. I cleaned up after the events,
dressed up as a mascot and danced to raise money for several events. I was even able to run an
intercity dodgeball game. A game which Aberdeen won. Although Aberdeen didn t beat Hoquiam
in the end, we managed to beat the amount of food raised last year. After foodball ended, I
decided I wanted to do more. I became a deacon at my church and several times a month I help run
the P.A., fix broken things around the church with my dad, and count and collect offering. While
Aberdeen does have a punk flair to it, I feel it

Why Is Jay Gatsby Great
Although some say that Jay Gatsby isn t as great as the title of the book, because of all the fraud
he has committed, Jay Gatsby can be viewed as great because he did not allow his circumstances
at birth to hold him back, he achieved incredible amounts of wealth, which he shared with others,
and his primary desire for Daisy s love was genuine. Most people born into poverty remain there
because they do not have enough faith in themselves to get out, but James Gatz was different.
Gatz was determined to forget his past, since his past was holding him back from what he
wanted to pursue in the future. Gatsby later reveals his true past to Nick and Nick tells us that his
parents were shiftless and unsuccessful farm people and his imagination had never really
accepted them as his parents at all. (98) Nick continues to explain how awful his life was when he
was poor and how he felt about his family. When Gatsby was talking about his parents, he defined

Language In Persuasive Language
Oxford dictionary (2017) defines persuasion as the action or process of persuading someone or of
being persuaded to do or believe something . When related to communication, persuasion is
referred as any message that is intended to shape, reinforce, or change the responses of another or
others (Miller, 1980). It is used to convince others to agree with our facts, share our values, accept
our argument and conclusions, and adopt our way of thinking (Saylor Academy, 2017). A key
element in persuasionis language. The effective use of language is referred as rhetoric. According to
google dictionary (2017), rhetoric is deepened through the exploitation of figures of speech and
other compositional techniques . This technique of persuasion is commonly used by politicians,
marketing agent, advertisers, social activists etc. to reach the desired efforts (Wawasan, 2015).

Int Task 3-Toilet Paper Experiment
INT Task 3: Toilet Paper Absorbency Project Design Plan Problem Statement: Absorbency of toilet

toilet paper people base their decisions on many factors. Those factors include price, name brand,
availability, quantity for the price, and even media deliverance (i.e. commercials) of toilet paper.
Although these factors are of key importance, what about the absorbency of toiletpaper? This
experiment is conducted in the hopes of showing three different levels of absorbency. Testable

The controlled variable, which is the amount of time used during each test run, 15 seconds, will
also help to validate each test. By ensuring that the same time is used each time, the level of
saturated and unsaturated sheets can easily be measured by counting the sheets that were left
saturated and unsaturated after each 15 second interval. The relationship between the
independent variable, amount of water used, and the dependent variable, the reduction of toilet
paper, gives this experiment the ability to easily show the saturation of each brand of toilet
paper and well as the unsaturated aspect of each brand of toilet paper. Hypothesis: The
absorbency of toilet paper must be in direct relation to the quality of such said toilet paper. The
absorbency of toilet paper does not have any impact on price, name brand, availability or the
amount of toilet paper used. This hypothesis was derived due to the outside influence consumers
encounter from name brand, word of mouth or media deliverance of toilet paper. It is predicted
that Charmin would be the most absorbent in terms of saturation due to its thickness. Process of
Data Collection: When beginning the experiment a large piece of saran wrap was taped on the
counter and it was then sectioned of into three sections, one for Charmin, and another for White
Cloud and the remainder of the saran wrap for the local store s name brand, then folded stacks of
each brand in increments of fifteen sheets and placed them in

It was Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who said in October 2004: When we talk of a resurgent

transform Mumbai in the next five years in such a manner that people would forget about Shanghai

I believe we can become number one through modernization, expansion and development and make

Portrayal Of Women In Antigone
In the play, The Burial at Thebes Antigone, the daughter and the sister of Oedipus, is the tragic
heroine of the play. The character of Antigone is portrayed very differently as it breaks the
stereotypes of the typical portrayal of women is the society. In the first moments of the play, as
the plot develops and characters enfold, Antigone is produced as a rebel from the onset itself. Her
character is countered to her radiant sister Ismene. She was never as beautiful and as docile as her
sister Ismene but was brave, scrawny, recalcitrant, withdrawn and stubborn brat of the family. The
early plot reveals that Antigone has a boyish physique and thus curses her girlhood. She being the
antithesis of the histrionic heroine envies the beautiful Ismene. Due to these factors, Antigone has
always been complicated as a person, she grew up terrorizing Ismene as a child and refusing to
understand the limits placed on her and this attribute of her character later dominants her resulting
in tragedy. Ismene, on the other hand, is entire of this world, the object of all men s desires, so
Antigone s jealousy is justified.
After Antigone s father went into exile, Antigone and her sister were brought up in the house of
Creon. Polyneices and Eteocles are her two brothers who lead opposite sides in Thebes civil war
and get killed in the battle leaving Antigone and Ismene as the last of the Labdacus family.

has come out as a successful brand known for its packaged breakfast food items.
Kellogg entered India in 1995. On its advent, it made another classification of marked breakfast

Robert Enrico s 1963 Film Chickamauga
Robert Enrico s 1963 film Chickamauga was a narrative film. It was fictionalized story of the
Civil War s 1863 battle of Chickamauga from the perspective of a deaf and mute child. It is a
narrative film that took a fictional look at the horrors of the battles, the time period, and war itself.
Furthermore the films genre was filmnoir it made you feel a level of anticipation and left you with
questions. This genre is mostly known for it s gangster or crime films, but I categorized it as this
because of the soldier fatalism. In the end of all the destruction that they had caused over time they

war as your heritage little boy. The boy soon became upset when he was told playtime was over
with the African American of the household, he kicked his toy, and ran away angry with his sword
in his hand which was ironic. He was playing where he usually played around when the battle of
Chickamauga began to take over his homeland. He did not seem to have an understanding as to
what was going on, he was blind to his surrounding. He then came home to a burned house and

the music that narrated the film playing and Johnny running away from his home.
The order of this film was not very typical, the audience would not have predicted the final events

Glass Escalator Theory Paper
Women in the medical field are 5 times more likely to experience issues regarding themselves
advancing positions in their careers (Freedman 2). Though women are growing in this field they
are still underrepresented and face many challenges that a man would never have to face. Women
not being offered the same possibilities in the work place because of genderdiscrimination violates
Title VII of the Civil Right Act of 1964. This law was put into place to eliminate barriers for
promotion and hiring (Workplace fairness 3). Most issues arise from two particular theory s,
including the Glass Ceiling Theory and the Glass escalator Theory . The Glass Ceiling theory

who may also want to advance. The term Glass Ceiling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Glass Escalator Theory is a theory that explains how men in female dominated branches of the
medical field can advance faster than women. The Glass Escalator term describes how a man
can surpass a woman in the same field and the woman might not even notice (Goudreau 1).
Women are often too busy fighting obstacles that keep them from advancing and fail to notice
how men are often given the higher advantage, in turn, riding this glass escalator to the top.
These two theories are very prevalent in the medical field, especially in the branches that women
tend to be more involved in, such as nursing, pediatrics, and gynecology. The Glass Escalator
shows how men are able to receive more promotions in pay and positions even if women are
more involved in the field. This comes from the idea that men have better characteristics for
taking on higher roles and representing at a higher level. When a women is against a man for a
job promotion, the man is most likely to receive it, even if they are the same in education levels and

The purpose of the book review is to provide information on the different types of heart diseases
and their causes. There are many different heart diseases which some people are born with it and
most of them develop over the course of one s lifetime. Some of the most common heart diseases
are Coronary Artery Disease, Angina, Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Peripheral Arterial Disease
and Silent Ischemia. One of the most common heart diseases is Heart attack (Myocardial
Infarction), it is when a part of the heart muscle is damaged and blood flow is interrupted
causing a blockage. If the blockage is small enough it still will ultimately let blood flow but when
it s extremely damaged, it causes blockage and leads to a heart attack. Heart failure is another
mutual form of heart disease; it happens when the heart stops pumping blood to meet our bodies
need. Heart failure is misunderstood at most times, people believe that an individual is about to die,
but it false because heart failure indicates that the heart in not squeezing enough blood for the body

Essay On African Americans In The 20th Century
The 20th Century presented its own problems and temporary solutions for Blacks. Those years
impacted all Blacks, male and female, northerner and southerner, soldier and civilian. Migration,
military service, racial violence, and political protest combined to make the 20th century one of the
most dynamic periods of the Black experience. Black people contested the boundaries of American
democracy, demanded their rights as American citizens, and asserted their very humanity in ways
both subtle and dramatic. Let s walk through this century together as we take it one episode at a
time.

The Pros and Cons of Participant Observation Essay
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Participant Observation as a Research Method
This essay will examine how participant observation is used as a research method. In the main
body of this essay, this idea will be addressed by pointing out advantages and
disadvantages of participant observation. I will give examples to support my argument.
Participant observation is the main research method favoured by interpetitivists. It involves the
researcher participating in a social group to observe and experience the
world as a participant while still observing the group for future analasys of their behaviour from
the researchers point of view. The researcher must decide how he will approach ... Show more

There are both advantages and disadvantages to participant observation. Participants face the
problem of objectivity, it is often very time consuming, for example,
Beverly Skeggs (1997), spent 12 years researching the lives of women on a caring course in
England. Participants also face dangers and can also find themselves in
situations they find morally unacceptable or illegal. Quantitative researchers samples are too small
and while the researcher may get the bulk of his/her information from
structured questions, they are not getting peoples true opinions. The conclusions can only apply to
the specific group which the researcher has studied and cannot be
generalised or replicated. The observer himself decides what information to select or omit and the
fact that the observer is present in overt observations, it is believed that
the group will not act naturally. This therefore questions the validity of the data collected. There are
also many advantages to participant observation compared with other
research methods. By preparing a questionaire, the researcher has already decided what questions
he wants to ask and what information is important to the study.

Carbohydrate Diet Analysis
The second analysis of my diet has allowed me to observe aspects of my diet that can be
improved in order to sustain lifelong benefits and meet dietary recommendations. For
carbohydrates, it is suggested that I consume approximently 130 grams of carbohydrates a day,
however, I averaged approximently 250 grams a day. While I averaged 56% of my calories from
carbohydrates, which is within the acceptable range of 45 65%, the amount I consumed was on
the higher end of the accepted values. Also, it is suggested that Americans consume less than
10% of their calories from added sugars each day. In a 2400 calorie diet, this means less than 240
calories are derived from added sugars. According to my fooddetails report, I consumed less than
240 calories... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, while it is suggested consumers make about half of their grains whole grains, I failed to
consume that much. Rather, each day, my refined grains were atleast double that of my whole
grains. Moving forward, it is essential to ensure that I aim to make more of my carbohydrates
benefiticial to my diet. Consuming carbohydrates from foods such as whole wheat products, like
whole wheat bread, or vegatables, such as sweet potatoes, ensures an adequate amount of
carbohydrates while putting good nutrients into my body. Additionally, because added sugars are
not essntial to the diet, it is important to continue to lower the amount of added sugar consumed
and derive natural sugars from foods like fruits or milk, while eliminating foods high in added
sugars such as cookies or ice cream. While I failed to meet the recommendation of making half of
daily grains whole grains, increasing this can ensure I am meeting this recommendation and
increase the amount of fiber in my diet. By doing this, small changes such as eating whole wheat
bread instead of white bread or eating brown rice instead of white rice can benefit the quality of
grains

Comparing Rear Window And Cornell Woolrich s It Had To Be...
Genres are not systems, they are a process of systematisation. (Neale 1980). Genres are both a
method of nomenclature, dividing literature according to its style, subject and context. Genre
constantly re imagines, challenges, and expands its boundaries to reflect zeitgeist of the society at
the time and to become a barometer of the social and cultural concerns of the audience. Likewise,
crime fictionas a genrehas evolved from traditional conventions. Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window
and Cornell Woolrich s It had to be Murder, whilst obeying and selectively utilising a few original
conventions, manifest the ideology and social concerns of the postwar 1950s society in aspects of
the modus operandi of the investigation, gender roles and the shift... Show more content on

In contrast, Lisa Fremont, Jefferies lover, whilst staying true to the convention of an intuitive,
female detective, also explores the role of female companions by acting as a physical extension
for Jefferies. She employs acts of sleuthing by bravely acquiring key evidence such as the wedding
ring, while disregarding her safety. The shot of Thorwald s violence against Lisa is captured with
long shot technique in the film Rear Window. This again reminds the audience that they are seeing
through Jefferies eyes and reinforces the need for a physical sidekick to assist the crippled
immobile protagonist. Hitchcock reflects on the late First Wave Feminism movement in the 1950s,
by placing women in more active and dominant roles when solving crimes, highlighting the growing
roles of women in society (Gender.cawater info.net, n.d.). Woolrich in his story, It Had to murder,
replaces both Lisa and Stella with a male character Sam. This delineating adherence to traditional
gender roles, disregarding the value of female intuition.. Whilst Rear Window employs the

these, adhering to the traditional roles, reflecting resistance to female rights in

Stunting Research Paper
Everyone in the world has certain things that call their attention, something they may be good at
doing, and something they really enjoy. Many people have different talents, whether it be dancing,
baking, or singing. People also have talents and hobbies; some people play soccer while others play
instruments. I, on the other hand, like things that are more hands on, messy, challenging, and
creative. Some of the things that I enjoy are drawingand painting, stunting, and projects.
Drawing and painting is a wonderful way for someone to express themselves. Paintings highly
support the quote A picture is worth a thousand words, because some people can interpret a
painting one way, while others may see it in a completely different way. I enjoy... Show more

I have been a cheerleader for four years (not consecutively), but the part I really enjoy is building
stunts. I am a back spot, so I lead my stunt group in the stunt we will be attempting. We have done
so many different stunts, and lately they have gotten a lot more smooth and they hit every time.
We have done Straight up Extensions, Liberties, Basket Tosses, Shoulder Sits, Pyramids, Full
downs, and a few other stunts that I cannot name off the top of my head. Hitting a stunt on the
first try is the best feeling in the world because it makes you feel like you can accomplish
anything if you just practice and strongly believe you can do it. Although stunting is fun, it is
considered a contact sport, and for a very good reason. A lot of the time a stunt does not hit or it
just does not go up. This sometimes means the top girl (flyer) fell, but thankfully my stunt group
never lets her hit the floor. My stunt group, as well as myself, always catch our flyer, but this
leads us to get either bruises, hit in the face, hit in the chest, and maybe even fell on. Even though
stunting can be painful at times, it is very fun being able to throw a girl high up in the air and
catching

Kashmir Conflict Between Pakistan and India
KASHMIR CONFLICT BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND INDIA
The State of Jammu and Kashmir is situated between Pakistan and India. Among the key reasons
for tension between Pakistan and India is the key problem of Kashmir. Whereas Pakistan has
repeatedly termed this the core issue in its relationship with India, India has maintained that this
matter was settled with Kashmir s accession to India in October 1947. As far as India has been
concerned, therefore, the only issue for discussion has been what India regards as Pakistan s
continuing illegal occupation of part of Jammu and Kashmir, an occupation that began in
1947В–48, during the war between the two. About 63 per cent of the territory is under Indian
occupation; while the rest, 37 per cent, is with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the above mentioned facts, neither Pakistan nor India wants to lose Kashmir. In 1947,
India and Pakistan went to war over Kashmir. During the war, it was India which first took the
Kashmir dispute to the United Nations on 1 January 1948 The following year, on 1 January
1949, the UN helped enforce ceasefire between the two countries. The ceasefire line is called the
Line of Control. It was an outcome of a mutual agreement between India and Pakistan that the
UN Security Council (UNSC) and UN Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) passed
several resolutions in years following the 1947 48 war. The UNSC Resolution of 21 April 1948
one of the principal UN resolutions on Kashmir stated that both India and Pakistan desire that the
question of the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India or Pakistan should be decided through
the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite .
India s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru made a pledge to resolve the Kashmir dispute in
accordance with the UN resolutions. The sole criteria to settle the issue, he said, would be the
wishes of the Kashmir people . A pledge that Prime Minister Nehru started violating soon after the
UN resolutions was passed. In 1965, India and Pakistan once again went to war over Kashmir. A
cease fire was established in September 1965. Indian Prime Minister Lal Bhadur Shastri and
Pakistani president Ayub Khan signed the Tashkent Declaration on 1 January

Social Media And Its Effect On Women
Positivity Is Beautiful In today s society it is being brought to the public s attention more often
than before that women deserve to be treated fairly. It is discussed on social media and has been
viewed on television advertisements. The feminine product seller, always, advertised a
commercial. A director named Lauren Greenfield asked girls if they have had some kind of
setback when trying to accomplish something because they were a girl. All of them said yes and
explained their thoughts. Another advertisement was by Levi jeans and singer/songwriter,
Alicia Keys. The setting took place in Brooklyn, New York and she was shown smiling and
walking on the sidewalk, interacting with her fans. Also, other women were dancing, and one
girl was jumping for joy in the air. Her song 28 Thousand Days was also being played throughout
the commercial. Although these two advertisements are trying to sell a product, they are actually
influencing women in a positive way. To begin with, both of the advertisements give women
confidence. In the always commercial, all of the girls didn t look flashy, they were dressed
casually, and had little or no makeup on. In a lot of advertisements women are made to look
stimulating, for instance, having a skinny body, a lot of makeup on, and dressed in designer
clothes, so when female viewers look at advertisements like that, their confidence starts to get low
because they don t see themselves like the models. Those who watched TV three or more nights a

The Price Increase And Demand Model
Question 1 The dramatic price increase of garlic in China in 2009 can be explained by the
supply and demand model. Perfect competition is evident in the agricultural industry, as there
are many producers who act as price takers. In the previous year, low prices discouraged farmers
from continuing to plant garlic crops. Many farmers turned to growing produce that they
believed would be more profitable and hence, garlic supplies declined. The supply curve shifted
to the left (S_1 to S_2 below), causing a slight increase in the equilibrium price (P_1 to P_2) and
large decrease in equilibrium quantity (Q_1 to Q_2) of garlic. In China, garlic has long been
considered to have medicinal benefits. The swine flu epidemic of 2009 caused tastes to shift
towards garlic and significantly increased the quantity demanded. The demand curve shifted to
the right (D_1 to D_2), causing an increase in both the equilibrium price (P_2 to P_3) and
quantity (Q_2 to Q_3) of garlic. Since land set aside for garlic crops had been halved in the
previous year, farmers could not respond quickly to the price increase by returning to garlic
production. This meant that in the short term, the price elasticity of supply was relatively inelastic,
and so the outward shift in the demand curve increased equilibrium price substantially more than
quantity. Chinese investors stockpiled wholesale supplies in prediction that the price would
continue to rise. The supply curve shifted to the left (S_2 to S_3),

Racism In California
I agree with the article California Becomes First State to Ban Redskins Nickname by Time.com.
That even though they banned the use of the term redskins as a team name and the term itself is
not being used for its literal meaning or as an insult it is still an inappropriate word. I find
California s band appropriate and a good step forward to eliminating insulting terms involving race
or medical condition. They are also setting a good example for other states and the young people of
California. The American native corporations are also happy for the support they need.
Right now most of America is focused on racism towards African Americans and hardly ever
focused on different groups that are facing racism. The American Natives have be constantly

Lenders And Credit Loans Online Payday Loans
Lenders who offer bad credit loans, including online payday loans, personal installment loans and
auto title loans, have come under increasing attack in recent years. The Consumer Financial
Protection Bureau, or CFPB, has been the most vocal critic of these lenders. The CFPB
published its proposed regulations for short term, small dollar loans in June 2016. Included in the
1,341 pages of new rules and explanations is a section that deals specifically with lenders who
offer online payday loans. Despite the pending proposed regulations and the criticism leveled at the
lenders, however, the number of borrowers seeking an online payday loancontinues to increase.
Why Payday Loans Online Continue to Increase Despite Criticism of the Industry
In recent years, many states and municipalities have passed laws that have made it difficult or
impossible for payday lenders to operate a traditional storefront. However, as multiple witnesses
pointed out during testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Financial
Services, outlawing a product is not the same as eliminating the demand for the product. In simple
terms, people want the ability to borrow small amounts of money when they need to handle a
financial emergency, and if they cannot deal with a lender who has a store, they will turn to a
lender who offers online payday loans.
However, there are other reasons for the increasing number of people looking for an online payday
loan. Unlike stores, websites are open

Returning Ex-Convicts Exiled Into Our Society. Imagine
Returning Ex Convicts exiled into our Society Imagine having a next door neighbor is an ex
convict; which is defined as a former inmate in prison (ex con). According to Bonita Veysey, the
editor of How Offenders Transform their lives This year, over 600,000 people will be released
from prison, and many millions will be returning to their communities from shorter stints in jails
(2). With this statement, would you feel comfortable continuing to live in your neighborhood? Or
immediately pack up your family and move else where. Ex convicts have many challenges when
released from prisonwhich include: how society views them, finding employment, and how to
overcome their past.
Suppose ones decided to pack up and leave your neighbor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If the same character was black had tattoos on his face and sagging pants, the audience more be
much more inclined to see that person get caught and go to prison. These well organized white
collar criminals receive praise for being intelligent and manipulating the law. These aesthetically
pleasing criminals get a pat on the back and are seen as someone who made a mistake and needs a
second chance. Race plays a role on which side the convict is labeled as. When one is black they
tend to be more associated with the gangs and street violence vs. the white men who are more
likely to commit corporation criminals. Environment also plays a role in the race of the criminals
and also the act of the criminal. African American men tend to grow up on the street ; so then they
get in truble doing activities that relate to the street. White men tend to usually have a job are a
company which then they take advance of the corporation. Overall most Americans would agree
that ex convicts do not have a positive outlook and you are not expected to accept them back into
everyday life.
When criminals are finally released from the government s cage, they have to step back into the
lion s den of this cruel world. The gates were finally open, as I stepped back on solid ground I felt a
sense of relief mixed with fear (Rodriquez). In an interview with Jeffrey

Some examples of economic benefits that we receive from the environment are lands we can sell, trees and plants that are put up for sale, use of environmental factors to build and produce other products among many other things that can also be included economically beneficial from environmental factors. Not only do the side effects have an impact on the environment such as pollution, they also have an impact on the economy because money that was used to destroy the environment such as building and factories is also being used in an attempt to repair the economy such as rebuilding reefs and investing in national parks. Olds Pulitzer Prize winning volume Stag Leap is a surprisingly tender look at divorce in modern American culture. Olds poems often deal with the victories and contradictions of being a woman in the United States during a time when the country has often been involved in racial upheavals and military conflicts overseas. She investigates the victories and contradictions of being a wife and mother during the era of feminism, as one of our most honest, most overt poets of female sexuality and its relationship to family life and its place within the history of humanity (Brickey). With the publication of Stag s Leap, it is very clear that Olds is writing about the sudden, unexpected death of her 32 year marriage when her husband left to be with another woman. For a book about the breakup of a marriage, there is a good deal of feminist going on with Old s characteristic scathing honesty that will help to understand how this collection of poems has gained so much attention. Old s demonstrates a poetic line with her magic and imagery lively as ever, and brings a new range to the music sometimes headlong, sometimes contemplative, and deep. This collection goes beyond the confessional, describing her gift of intimacy in a sense. After decades of being closed in her marriage, she describes a love for her ... The mere declaration that a given number of animals out of the flock would be held on trust would not create a trust . This approach was followed in re Goldcorp which affirmed that property must be separately identifiable before it can be held on a valid trust. The contention arose with Hunter v Moss which did not follow the orthodox approach where Hunter was entitled 50 out of moss s 1000 shares. Under the Goldcorp rule there would be no trust because the property was not separated however Dillon J said there was a valid trust. The rationale for this controversial decision was that it would have made no difference which 50 shares would have been given because they were all identical. So here there was no need to segregate the property if it was intangible. They can play basketball, go to school, get a job, have a family, buy a house, or go to church. We are free. We have opportunity to be whatever we want to make ourselves. When you ask, what is an American? I find it no different to ask, what is freedom? America and freedom are intertwined and this relationship is evident in American literature. The notion of freedom and everything relating to freedom unites all of the American literature we have read. In Twain s Huckleberry Finn, Huck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Self Reliance, Emerson explains that our freedom to choose and our ability to think what we want to think define what America is. I believe it is characteristic of Americans to strive for what they think is right. In Poe s the House of Usher, Usher decided to bury his sister alive. I think this story can relate to us today. Many people would say that America is known for persevering through rough times. I d say the last few years have been a rough time for America, from 9/11 to now the war in Iraq. Sometimes situations may seem unbeatable, like being trapped in a coffin, but if you fight hard enough, like we are against the terrorists and in Iraq, you can overcome anything. American s can overcome anything. Usher s sister was buried alive and finally broke from the coffin after a week of struggle. Also, many of the authors we have studied describe nature in riveting detail. To them and to me, our beautiful nature represents something more then just what you see with your eye it represents America s freedom. In Emerson s Nature, Thorpe s The Big Bear of Arkansas, Twain s Huckleberry Finn, Bryant s Thanatopsis, and Edwards Shadows of Divine Things, we see an apparent love and lust of nature by the authors. The great aspects of nature represent the great aspects of America freedom. The mountains and trees scatter in nature in pure harmony just like the American people live freely in America. I wanted to get more experience in the field, so I asked my advisor, Doctor Amanda Gunn, if there was had any opportunities for me to get hands on experience in my field. She said she was studying Aeromonas Salmonicida, a bacterium that causes diseases in salmon. She wanted me to use bioinformatics tools to learn about its ability to infect salmon. The goal was to determine if certain aspects of the bacterium could be modified or genetically engineered so the salmon s immune system would be able to respond more efficiently. I also heard about the experience of being homeless. Aberdeen gets very rainy and cold at night, so not having a place to stay is awful. The rain from that isn t drained gets all over the sidewalk and whoever has to walk there for just 10 minutes gets their shoes soggy and moist. Imagine walking around all day and sleeping all night in that! Being homeless also means it harder to afford find food. Hearing these stories from people I talked to every week made me want to do something about it. I ran for ASB of my high school and became the Senior Class President. I used my position to organize foodball, an event where two cities compete to raise the most resources for the Coastal Harvest. That is a food storage facility that donates to food banks across the State of Washington in times of emergency. The year I was running it the two cities competing were Hoquiam and Aberdeen. Even though the name was foodball, it wasn t just food we were collecting. It was also money to donate to and help raise resources for food banks, like socks, shoes, and shirts. I cleaned up after the events, dressed up as a mascot and danced to raise money for several events. I was even able to run an intercity dodgeball game. A game which Aberdeen won. Although Aberdeen didn t beat Hoquiam in the end, we managed to beat the amount of food raised last year. After foodball ended, I decided I wanted to do more. By ensuring that the same time is used each time, the level of saturated and unsaturated sheets can easily be measured by counting the sheets that were left saturated and unsaturated after each 15 second interval. The relationship between the independent variable, amount of water used, and the dependent variable, the reduction of toilet paper, gives this experiment the ability to easily show the saturation of each brand of toilet paper and well as the unsaturated aspect of each brand of toilet paper. Hypothesis: The absorbency of toilet paper must be in direct relation to the quality of such said toilet paper. Quantitative researchers samples are too small and while the researcher may get the bulk of his/her information from structured questions, they are not getting peoples true opinions. The conclusions can only apply to the specific group which the researcher has studied and cannot be generalised or replicated. The observer himself decides what information to select or omit and the fact that the observer is present in overt observations, it is believed that the group will not act naturally. Likewise, crime fictionas a genrehas evolved from traditional conventions. The shot of Thorwald s violence against Lisa is captured with long shot technique in the film Rear Window. • 39. Stunting Research Paper Everyone in the world has certain things that call their attention, something they may be good at doing, and something they really enjoy. Many people have different talents, whether it be dancing, baking, or singing. People also have talents and hobbies; some people play soccer while others play instruments. I, on the other hand, like things that are more hands on, messy, challenging, and creative. Some of the things that I enjoy are drawingand painting, stunting, and projects. Drawing and painting is a wonderful way for someone to express themselves. Paintings highly support the quote A picture is worth a thousand words, because some people can interpret a painting one way, while others may see it in a completely different way. I enjoy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have been a cheerleader for four years (not consecutively), but the part I really enjoy is building stunts. I am a back spot, so I lead my stunt group in the stunt we will be attempting. We have done so many different stunts, and lately they have gotten a lot more smooth and they hit every time. We have done Straight up Extensions, Liberties, Basket Tosses, Shoulder Sits, Pyramids, Full downs, and a few other stunts that I cannot name off the top of my head. Hitting a stunt on the first try is the best feeling in the world because it makes you feel like you can accomplish anything if you just practice and strongly believe you can do it. Although stunting is fun, it is considered a contact sport, and for a very good reason. A lot of the time a stunt does not hit or it just does not go up. This sometimes means the top girl (flyer) fell, but thankfully my stunt group never lets her hit the floor. My stunt group, as well as myself, always catch our flyer, but this leads us to get either bruises, hit in the face, hit in the chest, and maybe even fell on. Even though stunting can be painful at times, it is very fun being able to throw a girl high up in the air and catching ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Kashmir Conflict Between Pakistan and India KASHMIR CONFLICT BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND INDIA The State of Jammu and Kashmir is situated between Pakistan and India. Among the key reasons for tension between Pakistan and India is the key problem of Kashmir. Whereas Pakistan has repeatedly termed this the core issue in its relationship with India, India has maintained that this matter was settled with Kashmir s accession to India in October 1947. As far as India has been concerned, therefore, the only issue for discussion has been what India regards as Pakistan s continuing illegal occupation of part of Jammu and Kashmir, an occupation that began in 1947В–48, during the war between the two. About 63 per cent of the territory is under Indian occupation; while the rest, 37 per cent, is with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the above mentioned facts, neither Pakistan nor India wants to lose Kashmir. In 1947, India and Pakistan went to war over Kashmir. During the war, it was India which first took the Kashmir dispute to the United Nations on 1 January 1948 The following year, on 1 January 1949, the UN helped enforce ceasefire between the two countries. The ceasefire line is called the Line of Control. It was an outcome of a mutual agreement between India and Pakistan that the UN Security Council (UNSC) and UN Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) passed several resolutions in years following the 1947 48 war. The UNSC Resolution of 21 April 1948 one of the principal UN resolutions on Kashmir stated that both India and Pakistan desire that the question of the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India or Pakistan should be decided through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite . India s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru made a pledge to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions. The sole criteria to settle the issue, he said, would be the wishes of the Kashmir people . A pledge that Prime Minister Nehru started violating soon after the UN resolutions was passed. In 1965, India and Pakistan once again went to war over Kashmir. A cease fire was established in September 1965. • 41. Social Media And Its Effect On Women Positivity Is Beautiful In today s society it is being brought to the public s attention more often than before that women deserve to be treated fairly. It is discussed on social media and has been viewed on television advertisements. The feminine product seller, always, advertised a commercial. A director named Lauren Greenfield asked girls if they have had some kind of setback when trying to accomplish something because they were a girl. All of them said yes and explained their thoughts. Another advertisement was by Levi jeans and singer/songwriter, Alicia Keys. The setting took place in Brooklyn, New York and she was shown smiling and walking on the sidewalk, interacting with her fans. Also, other women were dancing, and one girl was jumping for joy in the air. Her song 28 Thousand Days was also being played throughout the commercial. Although these two advertisements are trying to sell a product, they are actually influencing women in a positive way. To begin with, both of the advertisements give women confidence. In the always commercial, all of the girls didn t look flashy, they were dressed casually, and had little or no makeup on. In a lot of advertisements women are made to look stimulating, for instance, having a skinny body, a lot of makeup on, and dressed in designer clothes, so when female viewers look at advertisements like that, their confidence starts to get low because they don t see themselves like the models. Those who watched TV three or more nights a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Price Increase And Demand Model Question 1 The dramatic price increase of garlic in China in 2009 can be explained by the supply and demand model. Perfect competition is evident in the agricultural industry, as there are many producers who act as price takers. In the previous year, low prices discouraged farmers from continuing to plant garlic crops. Many farmers turned to growing produce that they believed would be more profitable and hence, garlic supplies declined. The supply curve shifted to the left (S_1 to S_2 below), causing a slight increase in the equilibrium price (P_1 to P_2) and large decrease in equilibrium quantity (Q_1 to Q_2) of garlic. In China, garlic has long been considered to have medicinal benefits. The swine flu epidemic of 2009 caused tastes to shift towards garlic and significantly increased the quantity demanded. The demand curve shifted to the right (D_1 to D_2), causing an increase in both the equilibrium price (P_2 to P_3) and quantity (Q_2 to Q_3) of garlic. Since land set aside for garlic crops had been halved in the previous year, farmers could not respond quickly to the price increase by returning to garlic production. This meant that in the short term, the price elasticity of supply was relatively inelastic, and so the outward shift in the demand curve increased equilibrium price substantially more than quantity. Chinese investors stockpiled wholesale supplies in prediction that the price would continue to rise. The supply curve shifted to the left (S_2 to S_3), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Racism In California I agree with the article California Becomes First State to Ban Redskins Nickname by Time.com. That even though they banned the use of the term redskins as a team name and the term itself is not being used for its literal meaning or as an insult it is still an inappropriate word. I find California s band appropriate and a good step forward to eliminating insulting terms involving race or medical condition. They are also setting a good example for other states and the young people of California. The American native corporations are also happy for the support they need. Right now most of America is focused on racism towards African Americans and hardly ever focused on different groups that are facing racism. The American Natives have be constantly ... • 44. Lenders And Credit Loans Online Payday Loans Lenders who offer bad credit loans, including online payday loans, personal installment loans and auto title loans, have come under increasing attack in recent years. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or CFPB, has been the most vocal critic of these lenders. The CFPB published its proposed regulations for short term, small dollar loans in June 2016. Included in the 1,341 pages of new rules and explanations is a section that deals specifically with lenders who offer online payday loans. Despite the pending proposed regulations and the criticism leveled at the lenders, however, the number of borrowers seeking an online payday loancontinues to increase. Why Payday Loans Online Continue to Increase Despite Criticism of the Industry In recent years, many states and municipalities have passed laws that have made it difficult or impossible for payday lenders to operate a traditional storefront. However, as multiple witnesses pointed out during testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services, outlawing a product is not the same as eliminating the demand for the product. In simple terms, people want the ability to borrow small amounts of money when they need to handle a financial emergency, and if they cannot deal with a lender who has a store, they will turn to a lender who offers online payday loans. However, there are other reasons for the increasing number of people looking for an online payday loan. Unlike stores, websites are open ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imagine Returning Ex Convicts exiled into our Society Imagine having a next door neighbor is an ex convict; which is defined as a former inmate in prison (ex con). According to Bonita Veysey, the editor of How Offenders Transform their lives This year, over 600,000 people will be released from prison, and many millions will be returning to their communities from shorter stints in jails (2). With this statement, would you feel comfortable continuing to live in your neighborhood? Or immediately pack up your family and move else where. These well organized white collar criminals receive praise for being intelligent and manipulating the law. These aesthetically pleasing criminals get a pat on the back and are seen as someone who made a mistake and needs a second chance. Race plays a role on which side the convict is labeled as. When one is black they tend to be more associated with the gangs and street violence vs. the white men who are more likely to commit corporation criminals. Environment also plays a role in the race of the criminals and also the act of the criminal. African American men tend to grow up on the street ; so then they get in truble doing activities that relate to the street. White men tend to usually have a job are a company which then they take advance of the corporation. Overall most Americans would agree that ex convicts do not have a positive outlook and you are not expected to accept them back into everyday life.
