For just over half of its 64 years of independence, Pakistan has been ruled by its powerful military. Democratically elected governments have struggled to complete their terms, being alternately dismissed by presidents or removed from power by army chiefs.
Indeed, only one parliament has ever completed its five-year term - and it was headed by General Pervez Musharraf, a military dictator, as both president and army chief.

Introduction
CHINA is an ancient country that has one of the oldest civilizations on earth. Its written history is almost 4,000 years old, and throughout much of its existence, its cultural traditions have had a profound impact on the entire East Asian region. China occupies much of the mainland of East Asia and shares land borders with 14 countries (Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Vietnam). With a geographical area of about 3.7 million square miles, China is slightly larger than the United States (see Figure 6.1). Among the countries of the world, only Russia and Canada are larger in area. Unlike the United States, where almost 20 percent of the land is utilized for agriculture, China cultivates around 10 percent of its land on a permanent basis.
Because of rugged and inhospitable geographical conditions, particularly in the western regions, large areas of China are uninhabited. As a result, approximately two-thirds of the population live along the east coast, which represents about one-fifth of the land. China has long held the distinction of having the world’s largest population at more than 1.3 billion. This figure is greater than the combined populations of Europe, Russia, and the United States. More than 91 percent of the people belong to the Han ethnic group. All of the other ethnic minorities represent less than 1 percent of the population, with the exception of the Zhuang minority at 1.3 percent of the total population.
Approximately 31 percent of the labor force is employed in agriculture and forestry, with industrial and service ventures employing 30 and 36 percent, respectively. Iron, steel, and textiles are among the more prominent industries. In 1978, Chinese leaders initiated a program to modernize agriculture, industry, science and technology, and national defense. Their goal was to achieve a fairly advanced industrialized country by the year 2000. This program was prompted, in part, by the fact that the standard of living had been in a considerable state of decline since the 1950s.
Throughout China’s more recent political history under communism, the state essentially owned the industrial enterprises and commercial ventures of the country. Because people were guaranteed life-long employment, concerns about workforce productivity had been negl ...

In a May 9, 2024 paper, Juri Opitz from the University of Zurich, along with Shira Wein and Nathan Schneider form Georgetown University, discussed the importance of linguistic expertise in natural language processing (NLP) in an era dominated by large language models (LLMs).
The authors explained that while machine translation (MT) previously relied heavily on linguists, the landscape has shifted. “Linguistics is no longer front and center in the way we build NLP systems,” they said. With the emergence of LLMs, which can generate fluent text without the need for specialized modules to handle grammar or semantic coherence, the need for linguistic expertise in NLP is being questioned.
2. Democracy
The word ‘democracy’ has its origins in the Greek language. It combines two
shorter words: ‘demos’ meaning whole citizen living within a particular city-state
and ‘kratos’ meaning power or rule
U.S. president Abraham Lincoln defined democracy as:
Government of the people, by the people, for the people

about enormous economic expansion, though at the cost of civil liberties and
political freedom.
Given the North’s extraordinary effort to achieve military superiority, it would
have been natural for General Park to continue channeling the nation’s
resources primarily into military power. But Park, surprising for a general, chose
to slash the proportion of GDP going to the military and to focus on economic
development .
5. Park's most Enduring Achievements
Park's main achievements were the building of South Korea's impressive infrastructure and its export-

army in the colonial times. He also covered Japan’s crimes towards Korean people through the Korea-Japan
Pact in 1965, only received 0.3 billon dollars and borrowed 0.2 billion dollars from Japan
He is also not free from the accusation that he “sold” two thirds of the Korean military force to the US in the
Vietnam War, and utilized it as one of the methods of economic growth.
He reversed his pledge to step down after he completed his second term and changed the constitution in 1969
to enable him to run for a third term
, Park imposed garrison decrees on university campuses nationwide to suppress the spreading students’

15. Engaging the country Army in proxy
war and Human Rights Issues

in the Vietnam War with South Vietnam reason for
doing so was the fact that United States was providing
reimbursement to South Korea personnel. The money
was diverted by Park towards economic development
of South Korea
There were widespread Human rights abuses
including torture, arbitrary detention, and summary
executions. Park believed that modernization and self-
reliance were the first priorities and that Democracy
and Human Rights came late
Pervez Musharraf Engaged the army in war against
terrorism on the behalf of America and send army
troops to Wazisrtan near Afghanistan border for sake of
Foreign Aid as frontline state in the war
