2. Riordan Manufacturing And Development Of Riordan
Riordan Manufacturing is a Fortune 1000 enterprise employing 550 individuals and consist of an
annual earnings of $46 million along with an excess of $1 billion in revenue. This is being
accomplished by the production of plastics in different facilities consisting of: beverages, custom
parts, and fan parts. These facilities are located in Albany, Georgia; Pontiac, Michigan; and
Hangzhou, China which coordinate with the headquarters that is located in San Jose. The San Jose
location is also where the Research and Development of Riordan takes place. These locations create
plastic products that are distributed to some manufacturing merchants in the automotive parts,

From there the company expanded again in 1993 to include the manufacturing of plastic beverage
containers in a plant located in Albany, Georgia. However, it took some seven years later in 2000
when Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. expanded to include the China location where the fan division
was moved to. This is where the manufacturing plant in Michigan was changed over to handle the
custom plastic parts and allow the China s division to handle the plastic fan parts.
Within each division of this organization there is a separate operating system for the Finance and
Accounting system that was not considered when each one was acquired. This means that each
division is working on a system that is different from the other division but has a set of basic
components which are: General Ledger
Accounts Payable
Accounts Receivable
Order Entry
Procurement
Sales and Purchasing History
Invoicing and Shipping
Payroll
Financial Reporting
EDI
Bard Code Reading
EDSS (Executive Decision Support System)
The fact that each division has a separate operating system for the Finance and Accounting
operating system has created quite a problem in bringing compatibility between them. Depending
on the system it can arrive either in a data file, hardcopy that must be entered, or data files that have
to be converted to account codes. This makes the statement and balance sheets completed anywhere
from 15 20 days after month end making it labor intensive.

3. Revolts In New England
Disputes over religion, land, and power ignited various revolts within New England. In Maryland
and Massachusetts, disagreements in religion caused many to protest. Around the 1650s, tensions
between Catholics and Protestants rose because both Puritans and Jesuits longed to impose their
religion over all others. Subsequently, in 1655, a civil war allowed Protestants to rule the
government. Similarly, a difference in religious beliefs again caused massive protests in
Massachusetts. Williams argued that their church should permanently break away from the Church
of England. Another protester, Anne Hutchinson, considered many clergymen as non elect and
thus, had no right to wield authority. These differences in religious beliefs gradually led to

4. The Importance Of The Evolution Of Sexual Selection
As a result of sexual selection, many male animals have evolved extraordinary structures, usually
used as ornaments for attracting females, or weapons, for fighting mating rivals (Douhard et al.,
2017; O Biren et al., 2017; McCullough et al., 2016; McCullough and Emlen, 2013; Emlen, 2008).
The diversity of these structures is usually extremely high (both intra and interspecifically) and
have existed in many animal groups, including extinct trilobites and dinosaurs, to beetles, birds and
hoofed mammals (ungulates) found today (O Biren et al., 2017; McCullough et al., 2016; Emlen,
2008; Emlen et al., 2005; Emlen, 2001). Although both ornaments and weapons will increase
mating opportunities for males, the mechanisms shaping the evolution of... Show more content on

This bias is likely influenced by the appearance of horns in many female bovid species as well as
caribou, the only female cervid to evolve antlers, possibly as anti predator defences, a result of
natural selection (McCullough et al., 2016; Stankowich and Caro, 2009; Emlen, 2008; Bro
JГёrgensen, 2007). Although investigating beetles, McCullough et al. (2014) determined weapon
morphology to be more effective against species typical fighting, with sexual selection through
male male competition enhancing horn diversity. Only relatively more recently, have effects of
male male competition, within ungulates, to the diversity of horn morphologies received
increased attention, despite such studies being present within the field for over 50 years
(McCullough et al., 2016; Bro JГёrgensen, 2007; Caro et al., 2003). The evolution of horns within
artiodactyls is thought to have arisen independently at least three times, with a change in habitat
from closed to open woodland and at a crucial body weight of around 15 18kg, which is thought to
influence territorial defence by males (Janis, 1982). As a result, many investigations on horn
morphology diversity among male bovids and cervids has been completed to environmental factors,
scaling relationships of body mass and social variables that may

Alexis Clairaut was a prominent mathematician and astronomer. He died at the young age of 52
in Paris 1765. He was known for his deviation of light, three body problems, and Clairaut s
differential equation. Clairaut s life work helped establish the validity of Newton s principles
mentioned in Newton s famous book Principia of 1687 which eventually led to the publishing of
his own book, Theorie de la lune or Theory of the Shape of the Earth says Britannica.com. Alexis
Clairaut s accomplishments in math shaped what we learn in classrooms today. Alexis s early life

7. What Are Some Examples Of Deviance In We Were Liars
In We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, Cadence is crazy because she can not remember how her best
friends had died. Ever since the accident Cadence has been hallucinating that her friends are still
alive and still talks to them and shows emotion towards them. When Cadence finally remembers
how she had killed the Liars she felt deep guilt and regret. Their plan was to burn down Clairmont
to get the aunties to stop fighting. The Liars weren t justified in burning down Clairmont because
their plan was to stop the Aunties from arguing over Cadence s dead grandmother s money and
belongings, Cadences grandfather promised all three of the aunt s money. Even though the Liars
were successful to get the Aunties to stop fighting, in the end, they were not... Show more content

I feel like Cadence is being very mature and owning up to the death of the liars. I wanted so much
for us: a life free of constriction and prejudice. A life free to love and to be loved. And here I
killed them (Lockhart 208). This passage proves that Cadence was owning up and admitting to
the Liars deaths. This passage also shows how much Cadence cared for the other Liars and was
truly mad at herself that she killed her friends. I shouldn t have soaked the kitchen first. I
shouldn t have lit the fire in the study. How stupid to wet the books so thoroughly (Lockhart
209). This shows how desperate Cadence was to go through with her plan to burn Clairmont and
showed how she was not thinking about anything else, anyone else. You can also see how torn
apart cadence is now because she killed them. She starts to see all of the flaws that the plan had
and how she ended up carving her own path that caused the Lines to be burned to death. Also,
you know that Cadence did not try and deliberately kill the Liars because after she lit the fire she
could hear screams and rushed in to save them, but she was too late. The Liars initial plan to make
the aunties worked, but the plan as a whole did not because the Liars ended up

8. The Development of Jazz in South Africa
On June 19, 1890 South Africans came into contact with African American music for the first
time. This contact came when Orpheus McAdoo s Virginia Jubilee Singers. Orpheus McAdoo, a
graduate of Hampton Institute, now known as Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia joined
five members of the original Fisk Jubilee Singers, an African American a capella group from
Fisk University and began to tour places such as Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. When he
returned to the U.S., he added four members to the minstrel troupe and in 1890 they found
themselves in Cape Town, South Africa. Their tour in Cape Town was extremely successful and
they forever left an impact on South African culture in the form of a Carnival that takes place
each year. Kaapse Klopse, formerly known as the Coon Carnival takes place on January 2nd each
year. Minstrel troupes gather in District 6 and take part in a parade and various competions.
Various genres of music are represented in the Kaapse Klopse but one genre has been apart of the
festivsal since its early beginnings, South African Jazz. As the jazz tradition was developing in the
United States through the cross fertilization of African and African American culture, this jazz
music would eventually reach all the way to South Africa. During the late18th Century in New
Orleans (then controlled by Spain), every Sunday, slaves would gather at the Place des Negres, or
Congo Square. In Congo Square, slaves were allowed to bring musical instruments and

9. Symbolism Of The Monolith And Re Red By Stanley Kubrick
Human made structures in this film are curved and spherical. However, before our main
characters are presented with the monolith for the first time the rooms and spaces they inhabit are
square and sharp in nature. The meeting room on the Clavius, HAL s core on the Discovery. This
impending doom is a subtly hint by Kubrick, an indication that the monolith is about to appear,
the sharp lines and dark interiors replace smooth curves and white walls. All this gives a sense of
dread and powerlessness from the onset of the monolith. Humans are simply pawns, running about.
White is a predominant color in Kubrick films. From the costumes, liquids and phallic sculptures
of A Clockwork Orange (Stanley Kubrick, US/UK, 1971) to almost every set in 2001. White is

10. The Mafia of the Prohibition Era
Although the Mafia is most associated with the Prohibition era of the 1920 s when it dominated
crime in all major US cities, the true beginnings of the most infamous criminal organization started
quite earlier. Beginning in the late 1800s, many Italians immigrated to New York City due to
continued rumors of success in the area. This trend continued out of the 19th century and into the
20th as over 500,000 Italians immigrated to the United States (Sifakis). As Italian citizens migrated
to the cities of the US, they brought along organized Italian criminals, who formed an organization
known as Costra Nosa, translating to our thing , today we call it the Mafia.
In Sicily, the island southwest of Italy, a place historically invaded by foreign armies, a group
known as The Mafia with no criminal orientation began to grow in order to protect the citizens from
such invaders. Starting in the 19th century, members of the group began exploiting protection
money from various landowners and grew into the violent organization known as the Sicilian Mafia
(History).
In the 1920s, the Prohibition era just began in America and crime across the country increased
dramatically. Simultaneously, the very unpopular Benito Mussolini became leader of Italy. The
combination of mobsters needing a new home and America with a new demand for crime created a
destined path for the Sicilian mobsters. New York City became the new breeding ground for the
Italian life of crime, and with the influence of the

11. Germany s Use Of The Triple Entente
In 1914, Germany thought that war with Russia was likely. If war did break out, Germany
assumed that France would also attack, as they were part of the Triple Entente. This would mean
that if one country was at war, the countries that are also part of the Triple Entente would have to
help. Furthermore, France was keen for revenge for her defeat in the Franco Prussian war.
However, if this happened, Germany would face a war on two fronts. Germany wanted to avoid this
whatever the circumstances.
Consequently, in 1905 Alfred Graf von Schlieffen proposed a battle plan, after studying the
Russian military s performance in its ill fated war with Japan (1904 5). It took nine years to devise

Karl von Bulow and General von Kluck to retreat. This was because Moltke feared an Allied
breakthrough because of poor communication from his lines at the Marne. They withdrew to an

By the evening of 10th September, the Battle of the Marne was all over. Throughout the battle, the
French had around 250,000 casualties. The German casualties were thought to be very similar. The
British Expeditionary Force lost 12,733 men during the battle. Nonetheless, Paris was saved.

12. A Dictionary Of The English Language By Samuel Johnson...
A Dictionary of the English Language by Samuel Johnson was done because Italian and French
academies produced many dictionaries of their own tongues and the English century authors
feared that their language would soon disappear because of absence of authority. They believed
that a dictionary would do a big change since it will be a book that people will need to buy. They
believed that Johnson, still an unknown author, would do a great job in creating a good dictionary.
Johnson accepted and believed he would finish the dictionary in three years, but it took him nine in
total; yet the quantity and quality of work was excellent. Johnson made a dictionary that it known
for its size (which was forty thousand words), the illustrative quotations, and the outstanding
definitions. He had used quotations from the best English writers, and most of the definitions are
clear of any eccentricity.
The Preface to Shakespeare is an essay by Samuel Johnson that praises Shakespeare. Johnson
primarily praises Shakespeare for his honest interpretation of manners and life. He likes how
Shakespeare interpreted his character and based them on real men and women; and how he
connected tragedy and comedy and still show a good representation on nature where there is good
and evil, happy and sad moments. His characters are not exaggerated like they are in other author s
works and have real common feelings that everyday people feel. He believes that Hamlet, Macbeth,
and other Shakespeare character can

13. My Personal Statement For The Leadership Positions Essay
As I work to make myself available to my followers. Creating a strong relationship with those
around me is one of my top goals because once you develop a relationship, it becomes easier to
work together on a project. I reach out to those around me almost daily, and I will continue to
reach out to those who will follow me in the future. I want my followers to know that I am here for
them. In the leadershippositions, I am in now, I make sure that I post opportunities to gather
together: from an organized movie night, eating meals together, studying together, or offering
everyone a hot cup of tea (or other food). I make sure that the mentees know my door is open to
them. I encourage almost any form of communication from text to a letter, but most of the
communication, between my followers and I, is done through a group chat or face to face. I feel
like my interactions have created a more open environment where the students feel safe coming to
me to talk about topics they do not feel open enough sharing with a group of people. I am aware
that my leadership roles will change, thus the way I interact with my followers will change with it.
A constant notion that will not change is my effort to be involved with those around me. Just
letting them know that I want to be there for them helps build bonds of respect and trust with any
follower group.

The topic of Australia day s date has been widely debated for decades, with controversy and

day s date should change. It would be better for everyone if we changed the date. We should
choose a date that isn t offensive for Indigenous people, move our nation forward from our violent

is what is stopping us. We have no reason to keep the date as it is other than tradition. The tradition

is our tradition. We need to change this.

as many public holidays we can get, so next! The date that Fremantle chose for this year 28th
January, which their only reasoning is it gets the date away from the 26th but keeps it in the end
of January. This is a viable date but it has no historical significance at all. However, the date doesn

Make Customers Come Back Winning Customer Retention Strategies Customer Retention
marketing is a tactically driven strategy to keep relationships with customers going and increase
customer interest. This strategy relies on the study of customer behavior. Here are the basic tenets
of a marketer that seeks to increase customer retention: 1. Past and Current customer behavior This
is the best predictor of how customers will behave in the future. They are the characteristics
marketers should most often look at. Analyzing customer tendencies and trends allows the marketer
to anticipate, if not predict, the customers reaction to different situations. The marketer must take

Retention: Integrating Lifetime Value into MarketingStrategies by Arthur Middleton Hughes
Everyone wants to retain their existing customers. Few companies, however, are implementing
positive strategies aimed at retention. Most companies are organized for acquisition. Their
advertising and sales programs are designed to find and promote their products and services to new
customers. The companies are organized on a product or brand basis, not on a customer segment
basis. While they all have customer service departments, and most have a customer service toll free
number, they lack an integrated marketing strategy that is directed at retention,
and that defines retention as the measurement of success. In this article, we will explore the
meaning of a retention strategy, showing how it can be set up, and how lifetime value can be used
to measure it. You have often heard it said that It is five times more profitable to spend your
marketing dollars to retain the customers that you have than to use the dollars to beat the bushes for
new customers. Most people would agree with this statement, even though they have no way of
proving it. Indeed, the majority of large

Objective

the most.
Literature review
According to Tauber (1972), experiences are an important part of consuming and shopping.
Shoppers are not always simply looking to buy products, but also want to get pleasure from the
shopping activity. This experience is affected by the customer s shopping goals, what they expect,
and what their motivations are (Demangeot Broderick, 2006).
Motivation for shopping online is an important factor to consider when analysing the shopping
experience (Swatman Chin, 2004). Holbrook and Hirschman (1982) established that it is highly
important to create hedonic significance through good experiences in order to toughen up the
relationships with consumers. Customer experience involves engaging several of the customer s
aptitudes to satisfy and create value while he interacts with the organisation, its products and its
other customers. Similarly, an online retailer s role is to establish an appropriate environment to
help customers in gaining a positive experience while shopping online (Pentina et al., 2011). When

Fermented beverages have played a part in every civilization. The evolution of fermentation by
human hands has been a diverse one. From the first fermented beverage, mead, found in ancient

beverages have seen tremendous growth. Today, micro craft breweries are displacing the
competition from big brewers in America (Kain n.p.). The number of craft breweries in America

I spent many weeks researching and reading up on the art of home brewing. After two months, I
finally made my purchase of the basic equipment I needed. I spent hours laboring over deciding
the type of ingredients to buy, what ratios to use, duration of fermentations, whether to perform a
secondary fermentation; all my hard work bore fruit of a recipe that was very enjoyable. It had an
aroma of raspberries, a slight hint of raspberries amidst the wheat and a slight bitter note. When I
held a tasting of my beer, all the participants enjoyed my creation and had some constructive
criticism on how I can improve the recipe. Some asked if I would be brewing more batches and
they would like to take some home.

(and nowhere more so than in the US), seeking protection. And running against the conventional
view (without seemingly noticing) is the idea that America is the home and inspiration of free
trade. The British in the 1930s opted for, Regulated, rather than American style market, capitalism

would not accept the free trade doctrine (p.24). Zeiler suggests that free trade was key to the
American economy ignoring the fact that America had been one of the most protectionist countries
for most of its history. This is unfortunate and results in a distortion of the argument, for of the
GATT negotiations Zeiler say s the British were not willing partners in pursuit of lower trade

21. Structural Model Of Structural Family Therapy
Structural family therapy is a model that consist of established, empathetic and exceptional
interventions/techniques and stance of the therapist that can be implemented and used to treat a
wide variety of families. My views on the mechanism of change is informed by the therapeutic
paradigm I use. I am a structural familytherapist, and therefore my views about the family and
interventions are influenced by this model. There are several elements of the structural model that
resonate with my style and personality. Therefore in this paper, I will discuss the paradigm,
presenting problems and expected outcomes, mechanism of change, stance of the therapist, major
interventions, and, self of the therapist and diversity and contextual considerations of structural
family therapymodel.
Family Systems Theory Paradigm Gregory Bateson was one of the pioneers that set the way for
family system theory. Bateson studied families and their communication patterns. According to
Guttman (1991) Bateson believed that the uniformity and variability of a systems behavior were
rule governed. In order for Bateson to study the communication process of different systems he
recruited the support of the Palo Alto group (Guttman, 1991). The Palo Alto looked at the family as
a whole and focused on families with schizophrenic members. With the research the concept of
homeostasis was established. Homeostasis is the principle that negative feedback preserves stability

23. Finland And American Education System
In the 1970 s, Finland didn t have a spot at the top of the education chain; in fact they had a poor
education system (NEA). Finland has changed their education system over the past 35 years to
make it better. They have changed their education system to become successful. When looking at
the American educationsystem and the Finland education system there are obvious differences
between the testing, the paths for the students to take, the time management during school hours,
and the classroom environment.
The differences between Finland and American education systems start with the youngest students.
Finland students start school at a later age than American students. In Finland their students don t
start school until they reach the age of seven years old, where as in America the students start
school when they reach the age of five. Finland also doesn t focus on testing their younger students.
Instead, they focus on play and teaching their younger students how to understand their way of
think and learn. Finland doesn t start testing their students until they enter the fourth grade, around
the age of twelve. In America the testing starts when some students enter pre kindergarten.
In America the Bush era law requires that students in third through eighth grades take tests on their
reading and math skills, then re test again in high school. Determining the number average of tests
that an American student takes is difficult because many states and districts require their

24. Language Discrimination In Language
Language Discrimination Language discrimination is treating an individual unfairly due to the
features of their speech for instance, accent, vocabulary size and syntax. The growing Latino
population has been a cause or rising concern among most of the white Americans. This rapid
growth is viewed by the whites as a potential cause of the extinction of English and the way of life
in America. As a result, the whites have strived to discourage the use of Latinos heritage language
which has been discriminative (Barret 180). Despite the fact that language discrimination is being
fought against, it still exists in America. The linguistic profiling is as dangerous as racial profiling
since it denies one the opportunity to have equal chances of getting a degree, employment, a place
of residence and even healthcare because people use false general assumptions concerning a
language in order to justify the judgements concerning race, origin, religion, ethnicity and regional
affiliation than with communication and language. The two leading English dialects in Latino
America that is, Puerto Rican and Chicano English are viewed as substandard. Besides, they
assumed to have been highly influenced by African American English. This paper aims to discuss
language discrimination with emphasis on the Latino community, and how it affects the members
of the Latino community both in workplaces and institutions. In the USA, strong bonds exist which
tend to connect language and racism (Barret

The American flag is the symbol of our nation s strength and unity. Many people wonder was it
Betsy Ross that sewed the American flag. Betsy Ross played a big role in making the first

name was Elizabeth Griscom, her mom called her Betsy. She is one of seventeen children and
was very close to her sisters. During this time many girls didn t attend school, but she as one of
the few that did and learned how to read and write (USHistory, 2010). When she was twelve she

27. The Essential Compound of Water on Earth
Formed by two bonded hydrogens and an oxygen atom it is the second most essential compound
to life on Earth, water. However, less than four percent of it is available for human consumption; it
may be found in a liquid state or as water vapor within the atmosphere. As society progresses in
becoming more populous and industrialized so does the demand for fresh water, thus scientists
have and continue to experiment with adding particles to clouds in order to aid in creating
precipitation. In nature, water continuously moves between the Earth and atmosphere through a
process known as the hydrologic cycle. Evaporation and transportation cause water to rise, as
warm air rises it becomes cooler and causes condensation, the droplets increase in size until the
upward movement of air cannot support it (nucleation), and thus falls to the ground. It should be
noted that warm air has the ability to hold more vapor than cold air and cloud formation occurs
due to air becoming supersaturated. Conversely, nucleation does not always occur due to the cloud
not being cold enough, we are then introduced to the process of cloud seeding(Lenschow).
The inorganic compound silver iodide (AgI) is sprayed or launched into the atmosphere as tiny
particles that attract water molecules causing them to nucleate and fall to the ground as
precipitation. Cloud seeding started it s formation when Vincent Schaefer, a self taught chemist in
New York, attempted to get artificial clouds to produce

Every child born in America is unique: whether it be because of skin color, hair color, birth

vaccinations they are all treated equal and are expected to follow the government recommended

Seven vaccines injected into a 13 pound, two month old infant are equivalent to 70 doses in a 130

The recommended vaccination schedule becomes questionably when looked at like this. The
comparison between seven vaccines in an infant and seventy in a small adult is surprising. How
can it be considered safe to assume every young child s body can handle this; without looking at
the individual child? Not all children are the same, nor is their situation. It seems logical to think it
would be better to look at the individual child and their case to determine what is best for them. In
order to better understand why vaccinations should not be given the same for every child, it is
important to know what is in them. The CDC reassures parents all over their website that
vaccination is safe. Many physicians recommend vaccination for their patients, without hesitation.
Vaccination is the thing to do . Going through medical school, physicians are taught the practice of

30. The Basic Principles Of The Elizabethan Poor Laws Of 1601
The basic principles of the Elizabethan Poor Laws of 1601 were local investigation and
administration of relief, work as a component of all assistance, and categorization of the poor into
three groups: the able bodied poor, the impotent poor, and dependent children (Day Schiele, 2013,
p. 104). Basically, creating a welfaresystem to help assist the poor, implementing programs to get
people working, and categorizing the poor as worthy or unworthy poor. Examples of this in the
present social welfare system are TANF, unemployment insurance, Social Security, SSI, and
SDI. Within the TANF and unemployment program, there is a job search requirement to
encourage people to find work. Also, much like the Elizabethan Poor Laws, people are categorized
to receive specific benefits based on whether they can work or not, like SSI, which is for people
who are currently unable to work because of old age or disability. Worthy poor are the people who
have worked, but no longer can because they are aged or disabled , the people who can work if
they want to, or can support their families if they work hard enough (Day Schiele, 2013, p. 10).
Unworthy poor is anyone else who has never worked and will not work. It is assumed that these
people are poor because of some kind of willfulness, laziness, or refusal to be productive and
support themselves (Longmore, 1997).

31. Symbolism In A Noiseless Patient Spider By Robert Frost
According to an Online Etymology Dictionary, symbolism is a practice of representing things with
symbols, from symbol and ism. Symbols are one of the most important elements that create a
whimsical perception to the greater understanding of the literature. Spiders have symbolized as
being cruel, tormenting, and fearful throughout the stories of various cultures for centuries.
However, they are also known as mystical creatures that are patience and persistence in designing
intricate webs out of their bodies to create their own journey. In the poems, A Noiseless Patient
Spider by Walt Whitman, and Design by Robert Frost, the readers are introduced to the
characteristics of the spider in comparison to the mortal s existence, morals, and values, to
question, Is the Spider like my Soul? The poet, Walt Whitman loved nature and he believed that
humans are part of nature, in which he identified humans with nature. From the beginning of the
poem, the poet starts the first stanza with the title of the poem, A Noiseless Patient Spider (1).
This is to emphasize the idea of the spider being a patient and persistent, in contrast to the usual
perception of the spiders being cruel, tormenting, and fearful spider. The spider in the poem
symbolizes the patience, persistence, and loneliness in comparison to the poet s own. As the poem
continues, the symbolism of the noiseless patient spider becomes clear that the spider is the poet
himself, his noiseless patient soul. The reader can imagine a lonely noiseless spider on a cliff, as he
builds his web patiently, one string after another, to an empty space, constantly unraveling the web,
and shooting the web endlessly. The symbolof spider s patience is personified to the poet s own
emotions as he watches the spider noiselessly, I mark d where on a little promontory it stood
isolated (2). The poet continues to write how lonely and isolated the spider must be as it shoots
strings out of its own body, Mark d how to explore the vacant vast surrounding (3); and compares
to O my soul where you stand, surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space (6 7), to
symbolize his own loneliness and isolation in the world. The poet describes how a spider weaves

32. Huck Finn Education Analysis
In the 1840s the United States of America was divided by two things, slavery and the
Mississippi. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, Huck and Jim travel on a
raft on the Mississippi River, hoping to reach Cairo, where Jim would be a free man. While on
the river, the motif of education arises as Huck is forced to learn how to trick and deceive in
order to keep Jim safe. Huck uses the river as a safe place where he is floating away from the
troubles that lie on the shore. The river bridges the gaps between the levels of society as Huck
travels from community to community experiencing each individual class. The Mississippi
provides Huck with an education, a home, and a bridge but also forces him into becoming an
entirely new person who we, a century and a half later, look up to. The motif of education is
prevalent especially because Huck never received one. Lauriat Jane Jr. best describes this
concept in his article Why Huckleberry Finn Is a Great World Novel , he says The novel is a
novel of education. Its school is the school of life rather than of books, but Huck s education is
all the more complete for that reason (Lane 2). Instead of a formal education, he learns from his
experiences especially when it comes to deception. Huck learns that being quick with words is one
of the most crucial skills that he will need for his journey. Huck shows his cunning in many
instances, from disguising himself as a girl to making others think that Jim is his smallpox

History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme (Mark Twain). Today, racism is nothing like the
blatant, ignorant racism of the early 20th Century. This is not your grandparents or great
grandparent s racism, but it is not entirely gone, either. In fact in some ways it may be more
common today than back then, only it s more subtler, craftier, more underhanded than in previous
generations, like the way a mugger may take a unsuspecting person off guard, from behind, when
they think no one else is watching (Comparison of Racism Today to Racism of the Early 1900s).
Although racism is still present, it has evolved. In this day in age racial comments violate civil
rights. African Americans have the right to vote among many other rights. Segregation is no longer
legal. Education among African Americans and Caucasians is equal. So many obstacles have been
overcome giving hope to a race for social justice. No one is born hating another person because of

Mussels twisting in agony, fans savagely piercing the flesh, faces drowning in suffering. This
intense visual is shockingly manifested through marble in the sculpture Laocoön and His Sons by
Hagesandros, Polydoros, and Athenodoros of Rhodes. This alluring orchestra of artistic elements is
the perfect compilation of technical perfection and emotional expression. The exaggerated drama
of the piece is the style of the Greek s Hellenistic period. All things considered, Laocoön and His
Sons possesses both exquisite formal components and content and has the ability to provide insight
into both the culture of the Greeks, as well as the attitudes of humanity withholds towards enemies.
To commence, the formal composition of Laocoön and His Sons is enticing. The piece is carved
in marblewith a height of eight feet. The marble white hue of the statue seems to accentuate the
detailed anatomy of the figures. The three males are placed upon a base. On one of the far sides
of the base, there resides a pillar style seating with drapery which hangs off in a waterfall like
motion. The central figure, and by far the most substantial in size, Laocoön, seats at an angular
position. This angular position creates a dynamic composition. His two sons, Antiphantes and
Thymbraeus, struggle at his side as sea serpents attach all three the figures. There appears to be
two sea serpents, one who is notably digging its fangs into Laocoön s hip. Moreover, a significant
aspect of the piece is that

Ashley Wisniewski Mrs. Synder English III 17 November 2017 Flower Jade Palace Famous
Chinese Poet, Tu Fu advocates appreciating the loveliness one could be surrounded by while it
exists because he believes beauty may not earn its deserved value. The poet was born into a life
of wealth and familial connections until his life was changed by a rebellion in 755. When the T

of his life, Tu Fu was in poor health and suffering from many hardships. Tu Fu s poems reflected
his life; he did not appreciate the luscious life he had until it was gone, and Tu Fu s work was not
appreciated until he passed away (Elements of Literature 873). Tu Fu s Jade Flower Palace
utilizes figurative language and sound devices to portray his negative feelings of uncertainty
about the future. In one of Tu Fu s younger works, Jade Flower Palace, the poem goes into the
deeper meaning of appreciating beauty and how important it is to cherish loveliness during its
lifespan. Tu Fu is standing in the ruins of a palace, observing what is left of the destroyed and no
longer stunning building. The artist believes the palace was not appreciated for its charm while it
was standing in one piece. Tu Fu s wish is that the lovely surroundings could be truly valued
because one can not determine what can happen to elegance in the future. The poet s work has a

ArtsCentric Produces their First All African American Musical Photo Credit: Instadoor
With all the news about violence in the city of Chicago, it s a refreshing change for locals to
watch musicals, especially if the story will take you to back to the city of Chicago in the 1920 s.
During this time, there was a huge influx of killings sprees among the residents which is really not
as inspiring as it should be. However, as a musical show, the storyline was presented through a fresh
and entertaining approach.
The show, Chicago, is a 1975 jazz inspired musical by John Kander, Bob Fosse, and Fred Ebb.
Even though the story depicts a cynical approach about the media and celebrity criminal, you ll find
yourself laughing and getting entertained throughout the show.
However, this time, ArtsCentric will offer audiences a new approach by producing their first...

matron.
In another scene, sympathetic reporter, Mary Sunshine, played by BJ Daniels, wore a drag as she
sang the bittersweet song Mr. Cellophane with Roxie s husband, Sylvern Jr. As for the rest of the
musical cast, although they were not as strong in terms of their acting abilities, the show s director,
Kevin McAllister and choreographer, Shalyce Hemby, brought everyone s energy up.
Although the theater appears to be a bit crowded, the stage is setup with subtlety amid a band led
by Cedric. Lyles. The production s costumes were planned by McAllister himself which appears
like a late night party at a Victoria Secret show. This show is indeed fun and entertaining.
Having an all black cast makes the production unique and more interesting to watch. Chicago will
run until August 6, 2015, at the Motor House.

42. The Madoff Scandal
I deeply feel that if people in general moved their emphasis on the casualties that were most in
require it would most certainly influence the scandals result. In my opinion, organizations that are
corrupted by scandal experience the stigma effects of shame a similar way people do. The
Stigmatized organizations might be ridiculed in the media, have their charitable gifts rejected, and
experience a mass migration of ability. The Securities and Exchange Commission said the trick
went into disrepair when the economy floundered and individuals began making a request to trade
out their ventures. Actually, just a small amount of Madoff s a great many casualties have become
the greater part of their cash back. For instance, Irving Picard, the court named trustee in the
Madoff case, has recouped more than $9.5 billion of the $20 billion in stolen resources. About
portion of that almost $4.9 billion has been dispersed to Madoff casualties.... Show more content on

More than 2,200 individuals had contributed generally $20 million with Madoff. In the days after

see is that the media needs to unequivocally reveal the insight into the general population who are
getting back a part of the cash they gave Madoff. The public have got to point out the fact that
nothing can bring back the millions that cash ought to have been acquiring over decades, interest
and investment earnings Madoff misrepresented in month to month articulations to his financial

43. Water Resource Management ( Wrm )
Introduction: Water is extremely vital for all forms of life, from microorganisms to humans to
ecosystems alike. Water is a key factor in driving economic and social development within
countries, impacting agriculture, energy, sanitation and health, gender equality etc (World Bank,
2014). For these reasons humans have invested an abundant amount of time, labor, and money into
perfecting water infrastructures in an effort to provide water services for populations worldwide.
Water resource management (WRM) goal is to manage and allocate water resources in a manner
that satisfies the demand of domestic, agricultural and industrial water sectors. Often left out of the
equation is the water demand needed for ecosystemsustainability. WRM... Show more content on

Ecosystem Services: Aquatic ecosystems play a pivotal role for living organisms, providing life
supporting services, along with valuable goods and services for society. Aquatic ecosystems are
able to decrease flood damages by storing season floodwaters. They supply humans with water for
domestic, agricultural, and industrial sectors and aid in recharging groundwater supplies, which is
an essential source of potable water. Furthermore, the recharging of groundwater aids in drought
mitigation. Freshwater ecosystems play a similar role to water treatment plants in that they filter
out pollutants and purify water. They support a variety of plant and animal life, which ultimately
creates a robust food chain, supporting human and wildlife consumption. Wetlands reduce
greenhouse gas emissions by storing carbon dioxide rather than releasing it into the atmosphere. As
mentioned above, ecosystems help mitigate water related disasters. Aquatic ecosystems provide
nutrients to estuaries, river deltas, and maintain soil fertility. Additionally, by delivering freshwater,
freshwater ecosystems are able to maintain salinity balances within estuaries (Postel, 2008; SRWP,
2007; GWP, n.d.).
Water Demand for Ecosystem/Environmental Flow Requirements: Aquatic ecosystems rely on
water to survive and if the amount of water they rely on dwindles, the ecosystem becomes
negatively impacted and the services they provide will

My Mustang needed a tune up, so, like any other person with a car would do, I decided to drop it
off this morning at a mechanic near the school (about a ten minute walk). My thinking at the time
was, if I dropped it off now it should be ready by the time I m finished with class. Expectantly, it
didn t go as planned.
While I was walking, Mrs. Sorun, who happened to see me, stopped and asked me did if I
wanted a ride. At first I was terrified, thinking she was turning her words from the other day into
actions, but ultimately accepted. I would ve of declined if I knew she was going to have me carry

45. Qualitative Quantitative Research Methods

Qualitative amp; Quantitative Research Methods
There are two types of research methods: qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative research methods
are complex meaningful analyses characterized by processes and meanings that are not measured in
terms of mathematical measurements. Quantitative research however, relies and builds on
mathematical procedures and methods, such as frequency, quality, amount and statistical procedure.
There are unique characteristics which distinguish one research process from the other.
Purpose
The purpose of research is to answer questions by using a predefined set of procedures (Mack,
Woodsong, MacQueen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the data obtained by qualitative and quantitative research methods are different, they must
be evaluated differently also.
In order to ensure the quality and establish the trustworthiness of qualitative data, researchers may
call upon their peers to evaluate the narrative in order to determine if there are inconsistencies,
contradictions, or other instances of researcher bias (researcher proving only that which they
choose or anticipate)(Smith amp; Davis, 2010). Additionally, qualitative researchers also indicate
the procedures they used to validate data. This process is called confirmability. In addition to
confirmability, qualitative researchers are also concerned with credibility. Credibility refers to the
accuracy of the study. Because qualitative research is social or human in nature, it is best to allow
the subjects of the study determine accuracy. However, quantitative data is evaluated in a different
manner.
In order to ensure that quantitative data is obtained from an acceptable instrument, it is necessary
to determine the validity and reliability of the instrument being used. It is important to minimize
subjectivity in quantitative research. The researcher must ensure that the surveys, questionnaires,
and tests, used are not open for interpretation or the results may be skewed. Researchers can verify
the usefulness of an instrument through validity and reliability. Validity refers to the extent to

46. What Are The Stereotypes Of Media Bias
Today s media likes to give the appearance of honesty and truth, but it is really still just biased
propaganda paid for by the bigger powers that control the news we know today. Many People are
easily swayed by big news companies because they think they can trust them, when in reality
they are just taking advantage of people. A story I found from CNN talked about How a North
Korean missile test earned Kim Jong Un s praise (K.J. Kwon, CNN). This shows that a lot of the
stories that media covers seem to be pretty underwhelming, but they use cliffhangers and over hype
the story that is, Coming up next! , to make a pretty simple story seem impactful. The media over
exaggerates events constantly, making a incredibly small and meaningless story into a devastating
monster of a news report. A lot of the news is meant to sway your thoughts about an event or even
a person. Sometimes you never even notice that you are being sculpted into thinking a certain way.
All of these news providers have been around for years and years so they have perfected the art of
manipulating its viewers into thinking exactly what they want them to think.... Show more content

47. Community Paramedic Benefits
The Economic Benefit of Community Paramedics Paramedics and EMTs alike work twenty four
hours a day, every day of the year. These highly trained individuals respond to 9 1 1 calls all over
the country keeping citizens safe from harm. Unfortunately this same service is abused by many
individuals who tax the system and slow down response times. Recently, many state government
officials began to propose community paramedicprograms where patients can be evaluated and even
treated at home depending on their nature of illness. Although the start off for these programs can
be costly, the benefits outweigh the cost as community paramedics can benefit the health system by
preventing illness and reducing the amount of emergency transfers to the hospital.... Show more

The training to become a community paramedic includes 114 didactic hours and 196 clinical hours
(Emerging Health Professions). The economic cost of sending current paramedics through this
extra training would be minimal and would provide an economic benefit to the community. These
paramedics would increase access to primary and preventive care and decrease use of emergency
departments, which in turn decreases health care costs (Emerging Health Professions). Most of the
available treatments and interventions preformed at an emergency room are also done in
ambulances (See Table 2).
Table 2: Selected procedures at emergency department visits: United States, 2011 ( National

demand for transportation to non emergency facilities and a high 9 1 1 misuse will ensure a

preventative and routine health

filing of tax returns being the obvious. Additionally, the case outlines that KPMG s personnel
took specific steps to conceal the existence of the shelters from the IRS (IR 2005 83, 2013).
Later in the case, it points out that KPMG was warned by its own tax experts and others that the
tax shelters were questionable, but the top leadership at KPMG did not heed these warnings. In
other words, KPMG not only knowingly participated in defrauding the IRS and reducing the
overall tax income of our federal government, money which could have been used for any

49. Examples Of Social Stratification In The Media
How Social Stratification is Portrayed by the Media
Malcolm Little, or as he s better known as Malcolm X, once stated, The media s the most
powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty
innocent, and that s power. Because they control the minds of the masses (Citation). What
Malcolm X said is true; the media does have a control on the people s minds. The media has a
big impact on how we think and feel about everything in our lives. For example, with this type of
control the media has caused people to developed stereotypes about the social classes and the people

The biggest effect media has on women is how the view their looks. Several different TV shows,
songs, magazines, and commercials focus heavily on how women supposedly obsess over their
looks. This can be seen all throughout the Gilmore Girls series, for Emily Gilmore is constantly
obsessed over how her and her family looks (Citation). Also, the media shows people that
women can be catty with each other. A really good example of this can be seen in the Real
Housewives of New Jersey. This show constantly shows how women are supposedly catty with
each other by showing them arguing and fighting constantly (Citation). Another thing the media s
view portrays is how hard of the time women have will trying to balance their personal life and
their work life. This can be seen throughout the Gilmore Girls series. Lorelai Gilmore, one of the
main characters in the series, can be seen having trouble balancing her personal life and her work
life (Citation). These stereotypes can negatively affect women personally, for these can determine
whether a woman can get the job she wants, whether or not she gets a promotion, or even how

previously exposing to the antivenom can receive the plasma. Diagnostic studies include CBC
with differential, BUN, creatinine, serum electrolytes, urinalysis, and abdominal series to
distinguish the spider bite from an acute abdomen (Buttaro, Trybulski, Polgar Bailey, Sandberg

serious problem worldwide. These pets travel easily often riding in suitcases and sleeping bags

51. Gertrude Stein Analysis
Stein s life and the impact on her art The author of this poem, Gertrude Stein, was born in
Allegheny, Pennsylvania, and she is the youngest of five children. This prestigious modernist
writer came from a family of wealthy German Jewish immigrants, who unfortunately passed

in 1891. When Gertrude was still a young child, her family moved from Pennsylvania and went
back to Europe. Stein spent her first years in Vienna and later in Paris. In the year of 1879, she
went back to America, and settled in Oakland, California. Her brother Leo is one of her greatest
influences. Since, of all brothers, they are the closest, when he decided to leave Baltimore to
enroll at Harvard, Stein decide to come along with no sign of hesitation. Because of Harvard s
policy to not allow women, Stein enrolled at the Harvard Annex, the precursor to Radcliffe
College, where she studied psychology for four years. Because of her interest in the subject,
Stein decided to pursue the field and went to medical school, where she began to study at Johns
Hopkins in the fall of 1897. With time her eagerness declined, and her grades dropped. She had a

According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, the state of Nebraska spends

something very well, according to Forbes (Schawbel). With those two facts in mind, Nebraskan s
