To His Coy Mistress is a passionate plea by a young man to his mistress to go to bed
with him. He uses flattery ( an hundred years should go to praise / thine eyes ), fear
( thy beauty shall no more be found ) and enthusiasm ( Let us roll all our strength,
and all / Our sweetness, up into one ball ) to persuade her to give up her virginity.
He is only concerned with moving his relationship on to the sexual stage and, apart
from the pleasure this will bring, he has no thought of its consequences.
The woman in The Beggar Woman at first seems anything but reluctant to have sex
with the gentleman she meets, but in fact she has a different agenda. She has a
baby strapped to her back and by exploiting the gentleman s lust ( I should be loth
/ to come so far and disoblige you both ) she is able to transfer it to him. She then
leaves him with the child as a lesson in the consequences of casual sex.
I trust the child to you with all my heart But, ere you get another, ten t amiss To try
a year or two how you ll keep this.
One Flesh is a meditation by a child on her parents who are now too old for sex.
They sleep in the same room but in separate beds and chastity faces them . This
seems natural to the daughter ( strangely apart, yet strangely close

CHAPTER FOUR: LOW POWER DESIGN
4.1 Introduction:
In earlier stages of VLSI circuit design the emphasis is on Area and Speed
optimization giving concerns to Packaging and Efficient designing. As the
technology scales down according to predictions of Moor s Law, it is advent that the
CMOS dimensions have been scaled down drastically. But due to increase in use of
Portable Devices Such as Cellphones, Laptops, Personal Health Monitoring systems,
there has been a demand of higher battery life for Portable devices. Whereas big data
centers which contains large set of circuits consumes tremendous power and
dissipates large amount of heat which incurs huge cost to maintain. The solution for
these problems is to design circuits which consume low power which give rise to the
concept of Low Power VLSI designing.

Essay On Jazz Dance
Jazz dance historical background
Jazz dancing has a unique history and has been influenced by many other dance styles
and techniques. Like jazz music, its roots can be found in African and slave
traditions. It then took inspiration from the tap, Minstrel shows, vaudeville, swing,
and Broadway. Consequently, the styles associated with jazz dancing change
regularly.
When African slaves in the 1800s were traveling to America, they were allowed to
dance to sustain their fitness. Such dances proceeded when they arrived at the
plantations on which they worked in South America. Amid the early 1900s, this
contributed to black Americans to lead the jazz movement. The movement quickly
spread to the audience and public, resulting in the development of dances like the
Charleston, Jitterbug, Boogie Woogie and Swing.
Jack Cole was one of the greatest individual influencers of jazz dance, as we know it
today. He was a choreographer and theatre director born in 1911, and is sometimes
referred to as the father of jazz dance. He developed some of the ballet based
movements and theatrical expression which have become cornerstones in
contemporary jazz dance.

Anti Federalists
There were several reasons that the Anti Federalists opposed the ratification of the
Constitution.п»їп»їп»ї The most predominate reasons being are no defined state or
citizens rights, the central government having too much power, non accurate
representation and slaves were not counted as part of the population. State rights are
what the Anti federalists wanted the most, since they believed that each state would
be able to govern themselves as they see fit. They saw the federal government as
something unnecessary, and that it would just reduce the amount of rights that each
of the states could have. It took the Bill of Rights tenth amendment, unlisted rights are
subject to be defined by the states, to get most anti federalists to come to an
agreement on the Constitution. Citizens rights was another issue that Anti federalists
saw with the current constitution. There were no clear definitions of what a citizen
could and could not do, and that brought fear to the anti federalist population who

Having a small representation would almost make anything that the anti federalists
did in congress, as well as any form of government, meaningless as the federalist
would be able to oppose it with their overwhelming majority. The federalists
compromised the equal representation issue with the addition of a two part
congressional system with one house based on population and one house based on
equal representation. Later in time, they reached the 3/5th compromise that counted
slaves as three fifths of a person so that the anti federalist states populations could
increase. Overall tensions and other unfair compromises can be thought to directly

Can Ethnic Nationalism Be Considered A Natural
Phenomenon
8749438 What is the nature of man? It is known that our basic animal instinct
includes that of ensuring survival among all else. However it is heavily debated
whether or not the prevalence of what is known as ethnic nationalism stems from that
basic survival instinct. Therefore being considered a natural phenomenon. The other
side argues that ethnic nationalism is a result of socialization and adherence to the
social norms of a nation. Before taking a stance on the debated question. It is of vital
importance to understand the definition of ethnic nationalism. Ethnic nationalism can
be explained as a type of nationhood that is defined by things such as language,
religion and traditions. It isn t like civic nationalism where the glue holding the
people together is their shared political rights. Here it is rather their preexisting
ethnic traits that keep them in conjunction. (Hill, 2003, p. 1). Is that feeling of pride
and loyalty to one s nation a natural phenomenon when based off of their raceand/or
ethnicity? Ethnic nationalism stems from the concept race which has existed almost
as long as the existence of man itself. Race is a natural factor where human beings
come in different shades, colors and distinctive features. It is essentially the seed for
the concept of ethnicity, where those similarities diminished in race are a reason to
feel a sense of similarity and commonality among a group of people. That... Show

Biblical Archetypes In A Separate Peace By John Knowles
In the book A Separate Peace by John Knowles there are several biblical archetypes.
These biblical archetypes give the reader an insight into the deeper meaning of the
text. This adds a greater significance to the story, and gives the reader a greater
understanding. Some examples of these biblical archetypes are the garden of Eden,
baptism, and Judas and Jesus. The garden of Eden is a paradise, in which there is the
tree of the knowledge of good in evil. Adam and Eveboth live in Eden, and God tells
them not to eat the apples that grow on the tree. In the beginning, Adamand Eve are
innocent, but Eve is persuaded to eat an apple form the tree by a serpent, and Eve
convinces Adam to eat the fruit too. This causes them both to gain knowledge and
lose their innocence, this is known as the fall of man. Next, baptism is a ritual of
sprinkling water onto a person s forehead, or immersing them in water. This is
supposed to purify the person getting baptized. It is also used for regeneration.
Baptism s are also used to initiate or admit someone into a church. Finally, Judas
was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus, but he ended up betraying Jesus. While
Jesus was pure and innocent, Judas was immoral and not innocent, and betrayed
someone who he pretended was his friend. The connection between these stories and
the book give the reader a better understanding of the book. The biblical archetypes
in A Separate Peace include the garden of Eden, baptism, and Judas and Jesus.

Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti Research Paper
Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti was an Italian composer who was born in Naples. In
1733, he moved to Madrid, where he spent the remaining time of his life there and
served Queen Maria Barbara. He composed his 555 well known keyboard sonatas
for the queen during this period of time. These pieces were mostly written to be
played on the harpsichord or the early pianofortes. Although most of the sonatas
were composed in pairs, the D major sonatas, often performed together, formed a
rare triptych of three sonatas. Sonata in D Major, K.491 is the second piece of the
triptych, which was composed in 1756 1757. Similar to most of his other sonatas,
Sonata in D major is in the binary form (AB AB). The structure in dance movements

Essay On Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla, noted inventor, engineer, machinist, and electrical pioneer was born
in 1846 in what is now modern Croatia. His parents had five children which
included siblings Dane, Angelina, Milka and Marica, in the family. His mother,
Djuka Mandic, who invented small household appliances in her spare time while
her son was growing up, spurred Tesla s interest in electrical invention. Tesla s
father, Milutin Tesla, was a Serbian orthodox priest and a writer, and he pushed for
his son to join the priesthood. Very little else is recorded regarding his early
childhood or primary education. It is rumored, though, that the young Tesla was

While both men went on to continue developing sensational inventions, Edison is
the man most credited in history books for his work. Tesla, on the other hand, was
not an inventor seeking fame, but one who simply had a peculiar and uncanny view
on the world. He was known to have outbursts of creative genius that led to days of
non stop work, eventually resulting in his register(ing) over 700 patents worldwide.
His most well known work revolved around the Alternating Current electrical
theories. While this stood in direct opposition to the corporately backed efforts of
Edison to promote a Direct Current network for electrical distribution, Tesla
continued with the idea of transmitting electricity through the air, and free to all
people. Edison scoffed at the idea, but even the newest research in the 21st century
reveals that Tesla s notions are quite feasible. In the end, it is clear that his early
education at home, his formal education on record, and his work with Edison all
contributed to the foundation of Nikola Teslas broad range of work.
The public perception of Tesla was quite positive during his productive years, even
earning the financial backing of J. Pierpont Morgan for a while . Tesla s disputes
with Edison grew over the years, though, eventually leading Tesla to abandon much
of his work later in life, and he eventually died penniless in 1943 while residing in a

The Relations Between China And The Democratic Republic
Of...
Introduction The trajectory of global politics has dramatically changed after the end
the World War II and after the Berlin Wall came down in 1989. In fact, many
countries around the globe became economically competitive, politically stable, and
culturally optimistic. As the result, many nations started affirming themselves on the
global arena while others continued to struggle internally and beyond the borders. The
combinations of these factors have perhaps led to interdependency.
Globalization has played a significant role in bringing nations together. In order to
advance their interests, share their common experience, and overcome their
weaknesses, states constantly engage in bilateral or multilateral relationships. The
bilateral relationships between China and the Democratic Republic of Congo obey to
these dynamic trends. The People s Republic of China and the Democratic Republic
of Congo enjoy stable diplomatic relations although there have been an increasing
economic interests for one another since 1973.
Background
The People s Republic of China and the Democratic Republic of Congo (Formerly
Zaire) established their diplomatic relationships in 1973 during an official visit to
Beijing by Mubuto. Since, there have been intensifications despite the internal
turmoil on each side. Before 1973 however, relations with China became rocky when
Zaire obtained its independence in 1960 from Belgium and established relations with
Taiwan. As the result, the angry China

secret letters she has been writing for years, she accidently drops a letter and her
covert is revealed. Miss Strangeworth seems like the kindest lady in town, but after
one of neighbors discovers her secret, the entire village realizes that Miss

The roses in her garden symbolise Miss Strangeworth s character and reveal that
appearance can be deceiving. The author writes, Tourists who sometimes passed
through the town stopped to admire Miss Strangeworth s roses... My grandmother

never gave away any of her roses, although the tourists often asked her (Jackson

Pleasant street. She is very similar to the roses and the roses reflect her character.
Miss Strangeworth s outside demeanor can be compared to the beauty of the roses,
but her thoughts and feelings compare to the thorns. For example, the townspeople
recognize her as an elegant old lady with pretty dimples and her dainty walk.
However, they do not know that she writes evil letters and masks a petty spirit
behind her sophisticated manner. The roses are a significant part of the story
because they reflect Adela s character and show that Miss Strangeworth s appearance
is deceiving. Miss Strangeworth is very much like the roses in her garden, they both
appear kind and charming, but their inner beauty is not the

drop as she walks in the class with her Caramel Frappuchino. They start to fuss over
her and thus disrupting the class. Fiona s teacher, Mrs. Dores, tries to calm the class
down, but they don t listen to her. Then, assuming it is Fiona s fault for interrupting
the class, Mrs. Dores gives Fiona a talk after school. Thinking that Mrs. Dores hates
her, Fiona later begins to treat the teacher disrespectfully and therefore an unpleasant
relationship develops between her and the teacher. Incidents like this not only occur
between teachers and students, but they also happen between students. On this
occasion, Carrie fights with her ex best friend, Jim. Jim, a senior in high school with a
driver s license, often takes Carrie, a freshman, out to lunch. But one day, after the
two of them have already eaten and are ready to go back to school, Jim gets
distracted by the school s most popular girl, Jane, while Carrie is in the restroom.
Totally forgetting about Carrie, Jim then takes Jane back to school, leaving the
clueless Carrie behind. As a result, Carrie, who can t find Jim, has to carpool with a
very strange person from her school. Later, after knowing the whole truth, Carrie
becomes very furious with Jim and will not talk to him. Indeed, the examples show

Social Media And Web 2.0 Tools
Using Social Media and Web 2.0 tools to enhance the experience with Self Regulated
Learning
Self regulated learning is a total work of the human brain; it entails attention,
concentration, self assessment, change and responsibility for one in learning.
Research states that self regulation possibly have little to do with intelligence and
development. Psychologist in the year of 1960 studied how they discovered the
ability to delay gratification is by forming the basic for self control. A person
character play a role in the definition of self regulated learning. Overall research helps
strengthens self regulated learning; which helps with the student s ability to learn and
helps with their behavior.

Learning 2.0 is technology enhanced learning that goes beyond access to traditional
educational materials and tools to construct a style of learning that is more engaging
for the student; this is accomplished through the demand pull approach which
presents students with a vivid, possibly virtual, learning construct. This self
regulated learning process is based on the student s desire to learn about a particular
topic or be a part of a certain community, and is usually informal. The demand pull
mode is resource oriented and current internet sources. Web 2.0 is rapidly growing

The benefits and challenges that may be associated with self regulated learning are
(1).Staying Engaged, the internet along with the various applications help keeps
students engaged on a particular topic of interest. These social media technology
tools assist with the learning process based on the familiarity of the tools that are
used. (2)Self monitoring is a strategy that teaches student to self assess their learning
along with communicating with their peers. This pro helps students not only learn
with each other but from each other. A disadvantage could be cost, not all of these
self learning tools are free and the advanced version usually comes with a fee. The
internet also has no filter and this could cause a major

Catherine the Great of Russia
I shall be an autocrat: that s my trade. And the good lord will forgive me: that s his
( Catherine II: quote on leadership ). In history there have been many good
examples of good and powerful leaders. A person who exemplifies good leadership;
protects one s nation, is a strong speaker and communicator, is confident, and can
organize a well developed government system. Catherine the second, was a Russian
ruler. She was ultimately one of the most powerfulest rulers. Many believe that
Catherine ruled during a period, in which was considered by many, a golden age for
Russia. A golden age is when a civilization has reached a period of peace, unity,
prosperity, and achievements. In the year 1762, Catherine was crowned Empress of
Russia. Catherine s motive of ruling Russia, was to make it a powerful union by
spreading and expanding education, and making a national culture. Despite many
failures such as not improving the lives of serfs, who were the majority of the
Russian population and it has been said by many that she ruled through dishonesty
and scandal, Catherine the Great was ultimately a successful leader of Russia. Due to
the wonderful accomplishments she made and all of the admiration she received
from the people, therefore earned the powerful title of Catherine the Great (
Prominent Russians: Catherine II the Great ). Although she never accepted the title of
Catherine the Great, she
Architectures for Scalable Quantum Computation Essay
1. Introduction
A classical computer represents an implementation of a (sub ) Turing machine that is
limited by the laws of classical physics. As such, certain computational problems are
either extremely difficult to solve or are intractable (w.r.t. resources). In order to
tackle these problems, a super Turing computational model has been devised and
named as the quantum computer [1]. Quantum computation is based on the laws of
quantum mechanics and can outperform classical computation in terms of complexity.
The power comes from quantum parallelism that is achieved through quantum
superposition [2] and entanglement [3]. Computability is unchanged so intractable
problems are still unsolvable, but the exponential increase in speed means ... Show

This requires use of large amounts of auxiliary qubits (aka. ancillae). Further fault
tolerance is achieved by applying the error correction codes recursively (in levels)
[9], exponentially increasing overhead and reducing fault probability. Due to these
error correction schemes, a single logical qubit is represented by multiple physical
qubits. As an example, a single logical qubit at two levels of recursion is represented
by 49 [10] or 81 [11] physical qubits, depending on the error correction code used.
Intuitively, the number of physical qubits required for interesting integer factorisation
described in [4] would be in the thousands. This is a problem because most
investments into manufacturing technology went into silicon based devices and
technology such as ion traps [12,13] are not as well developed. Hence, initial
proposals for quantum architectures such as the Quantum Logic Array (QLA) [14]
are space inefficient and somewhat impractical. This review attempts to give an
outline of the current state of quantum computing architectures based on the QLA
and provide critical comments.

quantum charge coupled device architecture in [13]. However, as it is the first

How Diversity Is Important For A Successful Organization
In this modern era due to globalization world became a global village in the trade,
economy, financial and marking. So people travel one country to another country
with their culture and languages for work and trade and this make the multi culture in
different kind of organization and workplace. People are interconnecting thought the
trade, lifestyles, in the labour markets and employment patterns, and in business
dealings. Diversity in the workplace is worker in workplace from different kind of
the background and they can be different in gender, age, physical ability, sexual
orientation, religious belief, work experience, educational background, and many
more. Today in many countries diversity in the workplace increasing day by day and
organization became a multicultural. Nowadays diversity play very role important
for a successful organization in this global kind of the market. Diversity is an
greatly important factor and the effect of diversity seems positive and the negative in
the workplace. (Business Australia 2015) There are many benefit of the organization
to diversity in the work place. In the future, workforce change and relationships of
the people with organisations will also continue to change..In the work so many Kind
of the diverse minds help the organisation to solve the different kind of the problems
like operating and solving problems and decision making. Those issues about Dealing
with workforce differing qualities grow past legitimate considerations.
Human Problems By Kurt Vonnegut
Kurt Vonnegut gives a new turn to his innovative fiction and tries to create awareness
to people about the things that harm human life and peace. He tries to present how
human beings are made as slaves by the introduction of machines. Men become
addicted to technology and they do not have the capacity to discriminate between
what is real happiness and what is fantasy. They are filled with the fallacy that they
have conquered many things and plan for what is yet to be conquered. But in reality
the humanrace is conquered by technology and men are poorly defeated. Their defeat
is yet to be noted or realized by them.
Kurt Vonnegutfears that if the realization becomes late, it may destroy not only
human race but as well his beautiful planet which is created for mankind to enjoy.
Men have changed his notion of enjoyment. They think that artificial things would fill
them with happiness forgetting the fact that nature has an immeasurable wealth.

Most of the critics give a comment that Kurt Vonnegut s work gives more human
dignity. The novel explores the idea that human beings are pure machines. They
behave like programmed machines and act according to the programs without an
option of escaping. People are thought to be undeserving of respect and Kurt
Vonnegut is disgusted by that attitude, writes Jerome Klinkowitz: The Key solution
to human problems, Vonnegut kept insisting, to find human dignity for all human
beings even those who seem to least deserve it (212).

College Education Problems
Why the education system is flawed many students over the years due to the poor
support they provided? The education system in the United States has problems
over the years because it has some flaws of helping students to succeed. Students
who attend community college or university will have issues that will cause them
to be in debt or could not complete it. The system tried many ways to bring students
accomplish their degree, but the problem is that students face issues that will affect
their goal of reaching their degree. The system has changed in order to fix some
problems; however, the results make the prices for most colleges so high that not
many students could afford. Not many students are rich because most students are
on the benefits from social security or working. Students who need help are most
likely be the ones who will fail at a higher rate of the lack of support from college.
Most colleges are not doing the right job to solve the system; however, they did
make some input such as financial aid and tuition for certain classes. Many college
students drop out of school due to problems exist such as the lack of preparation,
lack of globalism language, and financial aid needs.
First, the problem of the education system has enrolled new students that were
unprepared in most colleges. Community college (or four year college) is a school
that brought students from high school to learn advanced education by learning the
college basics and focusing on their career.
The Safety Of A Car Vehicle
Most of the automotive companies believe that the next generation of cars are
going to be autonomous vehicles, but not all of them have the same opinion about
it. Some companies want to bring a fully autonomous car to reality, which wouldn t
need any human interaction to drive the car, while other ones are interested in
driverless cars, which need humans to drive them. Both autonomous and
driverless concepts give cars more control over themselves, and both aim to give
more comfort for mankind, thus providing an easier life for drivers and
passengers, but the idea of an autonomous car on the roads raises some questions
about the safety of it and the responsibility over a car like this. A driverless car can
have most of the autonomous features, it just needs someone to drive it, and then
the control would also be from a person that would be more watchful and take
responsibilities over the car. Ford is going to launch an autonomous car. The
company already has a semi autonomous one in market, the Fusion hybrid, and they
say that the car is automated, but by automated they mean that it is capable of
automated operation under the supervision of a human driver. Ford already have
one step in automated driving, and in five years they are going to bring two new
innovative features that are going to be essential for self driving cars; one is the
fully automated parking that allows the vehicle to park itself with no help from the
driver, the driver just have to press a button, then

Similarities and Differences in Virtue Theory, Utilitarianism, and Deontological Ethics
When talking about ethics it is hard to distinguish between ethics and morality. It is
also hard to distinguish exactly what realm of ethics contributes to my everyday
decisions. Ethics can be defined as well founded standards of right and wrong that
prescribe what humans ought to do, usually in terms of rights, obligations, benefits to
society, fairness, or specific virtues [and] ethics refers to the study and development
of one s ethical standards (Andre, Shanks, Velasquez, 2010, para. 8 9). According to

153). In essence, utilitarianism is maximizing everyone s happiness, which can
almost be considered a universal acceptance (Boylan, 2009, p. 154). Jeremy
Bentham is one of the proponents of modern utilitarianism and states, nature has
placed mankind under the governance of two sovereign masters, pain and pleasure
(Boylan, 2009, p. 154). In business utilitarianism shares the nonmoral views that
the best decision that had no moral conflict would be to maximize profit, which
would be the greatest good of the company and its employees (Boylan, 2009, p.
162). Utilitarianism does not always hold true in some minds. Utilitarianism does
not take into account motives of the people (Boylan, 2009, p. 165). If one acts in
accord with the general principle and its corollaries, then one is moral (Boylan, 2009,
p. 165).
Deontology is a moral theory that emphasizes one s duty to do a particular action just
because the action, itself, is inherently right and not through any other sorts of
calculations such as the consequences of the action (Boylan, 2009, p. 171). In many
aspects deontology is contrasted with utilitarianism. Deontology is based upon
principle and does not calculate the consequences (Boylan, 2009, p. 171). Deontology
attracts those seeking a stronger moral attraction because it refers to commanding
rather than commending and commanding is a stronger structure (Boylan, 2009, p.
172). The

Clutch Facing Clutch facing is the heart of clutch assembly which actually transmits
power from engine to transmission or drive shaft. It is a friction surface which binds
face plate of fly wheel and pressure plate of clutch assembly. A major benefit to using
a lining or facing is that it prevents metal to metal contact within the clutch set,
resulting in less wear and tear on the clutch components. Clutch facings tend to have
mid level coefficients of friction, and are responsible for removing most of the clutch
vibrations from the engine. They also aid in allowing engines to achieve high speeds

The Novel Legend, There Are A Wide Variety Of
Characters...
In Marie Lu s dystopian book Legend, there are a wide variety of characters with
varying and backgrounds. Although the tale follows the lives of young girl June and
outlaw Daniel (nicknamed Day), many side characters are also introduced and
developed throughout the course of the book. All of these characters possess
interesting names that enhance the plot in certain ways, and while most of the
characters names fit them, some do not.
To begin with, the name of the main character June refers to the month of the same
name, which in turn was named for the Roman Goddess Juno. Furthermore, the
exact meaning of Juno is not fully known, but it may be related to an Indo European
root that translates to youth . Additionally, Juno was the queen of the heavens in
Roman mythology. She was also the protectress of women and marriage, as well as
the goddess of finance. June s name does a good job reflecting her personality, and
matches many of her actions during the novel. To begin with, June is rather young at
the point in time in which this story takes place, being about fifteen. However, the
protectress quality functions as the central plot point in the book. Although June does
not protect specifically women or marriage, she strongly believes in protecting what
is right, and the shift in what she perceives as right drives the main plot between her
and Day, as well as their connections to the Republic. At the beginning of the book,
June is completely loyal to the Republic. When she

The Legacy Of Abraham Cahan
Jews have been lashed out on, time and time again throughout history, but one man
who saw this hatred for Jews first hand and tried turning the tables, was a man by
the name of Abraham Cahan. He is known as being the first prominent writer to
emerge from the biggest wave of Jewish immigration from Russia, but he was much
more than just a writer. He was an editor and critic of several New York newspapers,
a sociologists reformer, and a teacher of English to many Jewish immigrants
following in his footsteps. Cahan valued his Jewish religion, but not only that, he
valued language and in particular English and Yiddish which he wrote in. He
believed in telling the story of immigration through fiction which he did in his
literature, by taking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is just one battle in a continuous war against maintaining his religion, but he
had a changing world around him tearing him apart from it. In this constant war,
he ends up having to flee Europe in particular Russia, because he gets tangled in a
mess involving an assassination attempt of the Czar. This journey leads him to
America, where he is first greeted by the Statue of Liberty at Ellis Island. When
Cahan came to America many things changed for him, he was forced to leave
behind his old life and try his hardest to assimilate himself into American culture.
He left behind many aspects of his culture, but was still able to continue on with
many of them. One piece of his life that was hardest to maintain was his language.
Although he held onto Yiddish, Russian, and Hebrew, he immediately had to learn
English which soon became a large part of his career and what made him so
astounding.America is said to be the home of the free, and this is what so many
immigrants desired when coming to America, and Cahan was no exception. He was
a tremendous aid to those immigrants by devoting the first years of his life in
America to teaching English. While doing this, he also lectured and wrote articles on
Jewish life in the city for countless New York magazines. Within these articles he
answers many questions on tough arguments, mostly circled around religion. An

The Wall Street Journal (Copyright (c) 2002, Dow Jones Company, Inc.) Inside the
walls of American industrial companies, something unusual is going on: an all out

The information goes to the company s tactical pricing group in Akron. The 10
person group tries to determine whether the competitor s offer is for real, using
information gleaned from what it knows of the other company s strategy in that
area, and more importantly, whether Goodyear could make money if it matches the
offer. Goodyear has had a pricing team since 1998, but it didn t have final say on
such deals until January. To really gain control of prices and increase them
Goodyear had to crack down on the deep discounts it gives its largest distributors.
The prices were so low that regional distributors were loading their warehouses and
reselling the tires outside their own area. Even with the added cost of transportation,
they were able to cut into Goodyear s own sales to its smaller distributors, forcing
the street price of Goodyear s tires down.

Break Of Day In The Trenches By Isaac Rosenberg
Break of Day in the Trenches is by one of the First World War s leading war poets,
Isaac Rosenberg. Many often remember Rosenberg as a Jewish English poet, or a
poet of war, but there is more to his writing than what meets the eye. Rosenberg
died at the age of twenty eight in World War I on April 1, 1918. Critics often say that
Isaac was an impressive young poet and that his future was bright in the poetryworld.
It can be seen throughout his poems that Isaac incorporates a large amount of
symbolism and feeling into his pieces.
A primary focus for Rosenberg s poems is centered around the hardship and
struggle in war. For example, a few of his most famous poems including Dead Man
s Dump, On Receiving News of the War, Soldier: Twentieth Century and Break of
Day in the Trenches all incorporate the mentality of a soldier facing battle. It is easy
for an individual to talk about the thought of war and the struggle that a soldier
may face. Furthermore, Rosenberg wrote from his experience as a young man
going through such a horrific event, which allowed his readers to see what he saw,
feel what he felt, and undergo what he went through. He mastered this art form in
the early years of his life and shared his work with the world. In many cases, he
describes an object or occurrence and lets the description do most of the work.
Instead of using the rhyming schemes or more structural outlines of poetry, Isaac
approaches more of a free verse technique of writing in in his work. For example, in
Break of Day in the Trenches,
The darkness crumbles away.
It is the same old druid Time as ever,
Only a live thing leaps my hand,
A queer sardonic rat,
As I pull the parapet s poppy
To stick behind my ear.
Droll rat, they would shoot you if they knew Your cosmopolitan sympathies.
(Rosenberg, Isaac. Break of Day in the Trenches. Poetry Foundation. Poetry
Foundation, n.d. Web. 24 May 2017.) The introduction portion of this poem
foreshadows a theme for the reader such that Rosenberg does not use an ABC format,
instead he employs a descriptive structure technique. In this particular poem the rat
that will cross No Man s Land and make friends with the enemy, the Germans.

How Technology Has Impacted Our Society
Early diagnosis is not a concept considered by everyone; however, it should be. In
short, it is the detection of a disease or disorder before it has completely developed.
Now one might think, Why should I care about such a thing? Well, these folks should
think about a person they cherish the most. How would it affect them if they
discovered that their loved one had cancer, but it was too late to treat it? This does
not always have to be the case with early detection and diagnosis. People around the
world ought to embrace the beauty of technology, and take every measure possible to
continue living a healthy, happy life. Technological advancements have greatly
impacted our society, in a positive way, by allowing early diagnosis, which can lead
to early action. I maintain that the benefits of early detection heavily outweigh the
potential associated risks.
Due to the overwhelming abundance of the technological advancements in medicine,
society is now able to help citizens prevent, detect, and treat many disorders of the
human body. Developments in medical technology came as a complete and total
surprise to some, including Olga Golubnitschaja, author of Predictive Diagnostics

Essay on Ancient Greek Medicine
Ancient Greek Medicine
While Greek Medicine particularly from the 5th century B.C onwards, increasingly
used scientific method to develop cures, there still however remained people that
considered medicine to be a religion. The ancient Greeks (Hellenic) made important
discoveries about the human body and health, so by the sixth century BC, medicinal
practices focused largely on a more clinical approach involving observation. Their
discoveries were made by firstly studying the human anatomy using dissection and
vivisection, finding ways to heal using things such as plants and herbs, then finally
practising surgery on the human body using different instruments.

fevers were common in Summer/Fire.
Doctors used an important practice called vivisection. Even though this was a cruel
practice, medicine couldn t be as advanced as it is today without it. Vivisection the
act of cutting open live animals for medical research (Collins Australian Dictionary
2004). In Ancient times as well as animals, this also involved cutting open humans.
Vivisection and dissection were the ways in which anatomists discovered the
anatomy of the human body and the way it functioned. Vivisection was an extremely
emotional issue; people didn t believe that cutting up a human being whilst dead, let
alone alive was respectful, so it was condemned in some countries. However, during
the Ptolemaic age in Egypt it became possible for Greek and other anatomists to
dissect and vivisect in a free and unrestricted environment. This change in attitude
was due to the philosophical teachings of Aristotle. The ready supply of criminals
able to be used for vivisection also made this controversial practice possible.
Aristotle never possessed any inclination to open a human being, although he
performed many dissections and vivisections on animals seen as near to man , these
being Barbary apes, dogs and pigs. The only chances of his observations came from a
wounded mutilated person. Via vivisection, anatomists found that the heart pumps
blood, humans breathe through

relating to hedges of specific transactions in respect of the cost of inventories or

Freud s Theory Of The Human Personality
Freud s theory of the human personality consisted of 3 parts, the Id, Ego, and
Superego. The Id is the inner child. Freud s Theory also separates the Id into two
subcategories, Eros (the parent loving libido) and Thanatos (the self preservation
instinct), also known as the life and death instincts, respectively. The Ego, or the I
, is the self awareness part of the brain. This part takes into account reality and tries
to compromise between Id and the real world. The Superego, or the above I applies
moral principles to the Ego s solutions [McLeod, Id, Ego, Superego]. Many times
this works, but sometimes these systems of judgment fail. This applies not only to
people, but also to societies, as represented in The Crucible. The Id, as mentioned
previously, is the need and want driven part of one s psyche. The girls who were
pretending to be ailed and bewitched are the Id of the society, acting primarily upon
Thanatos, their will to live and preserve their own lives. The power of the Id,
combined with the Ego, but lacking the Superego, can be a powerful force to recon
with, especially in ones so young. This is evident in the part of the play when Mary
is testifying in court against the girls. At first Mary is trying to persevere against
them, MARY: They re sporting...! GIRLS: (Cutting her off.) They re sporting!
MARY: (Turning on them all, hysterically and stamping her feet.) Abby, stop it!
GIRLS: (Stamping their feet.) Abby, stop it! [Miller, 48] Eventually, her Id

With 4.3 million copies sold in 2010, The Hunger Games Trilogy s fame tripled after
the first film went to theaters in 2012. A shocking 27.7 million copies having been
sold worldwide. (Bitoun, Rachel Elfassy) The Hunger Games has something more,
something precisely defined throughout the series that was Suzanne Collins s, the
author s, main reason to writing The Hunger Games Trilogy. The series popularity
increased because it was portrayed as good versus evil, thus pulling readers left to
right. Along with Katniss Everdeen displaying her love and strength to stand up for

The other two books, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay were released in September
2009 and August 2010. After the release of the books, The Hunger Games Trilogy
was in the New York Times Bestseller list for over sixty weeks back to back. After
the success of the books, they began to film the novels in Spring 2011. With 4.3
million copies sold in 2010, it s fame tripled after the first film went to theaters in
2012, a shocking 27.7 million copies having been sold worldwide. (Bitoun, Rachel
Elfassy) But what made the trilogy so popular? It was that it clearly portrays good
and evil. Suzanne made it easy for the reader to see that she made the youths in the
games either all good, or all evil.(Challies, Tim) Children who read the books are
seeing pure evil doing battle with pure good and enjoying that contrast. It is so
clear, so unconfusing, so real. (Challies, Tim) These books create such a popular
and good story because they follow a good and effective arrangement, with a story
about good versus evil that grabs the reader s attention. Suzanne Collins wrote the
series, The Hunger Games Trilogy. She said that the Trilogy was mostly inspired by
her father s Air Force career. His career helped her understand what poverty, the
effects of the war, and starvation were. And with that, she started writing the
Narrative Essay On Junior Years
Junior year. My junior year I realized things about myself that I hadn t previously
known. Things I ve never done before and things people thought I couldn t do.
Situations I thought I wouldn t be in and there I was. Junior year, I did it. There s
a little bit of a lead up to my moment and it goes back to my eighth grade year. I ve
been in band for a long time and that year I had decided to become an aide for the
band. I loved watching the band, and every show I was fascinated by the majorettes. I
thoughteverything from the outfits to just twirling in general was amazing. A year
had gone by, I didn t think much about the majorettes in between my eighth grade and
freshman year. I went into marching band; I was in the trumpet section.... Show more

I was happy, I had what I wanted to do, I made a goal for myself and I had reached
it. Then band practices started. The other three I didn t really know and my friends
were still playing instruments. Every single practice we would go down far away
from everyone else and they would have me work on the same things by myself all
the time, while they did other things. If I didn t get something right away it was
assumed I wasn t going to get it at all. If I asked to be shown something a different
way, I was yelled at for not understanding. I went from loving the majorettes to hating
them, wanting to be like them, to hoping I never was like that. Band camp was
horrible, plain and simple. They gave me two days to learn everything and since
they came up with everything they already had it down. I had two awful panic
attacks that week, one while we were on the field. The other three acted like they
hated me and it wasn t subtle. I couldn t do anything with them, and I could barely
talk to them without them being patronizing. Practices continued. Nothing changed;
except for me. I kept going, I didn t let them win and I didn t quit. Now the
moment: the first game. I wasn t as nervous as I thought I d be. I felt that since I
had made it so long already with dealing with the three that I could get through
anything. I can honestly say that for my first time really performing I couldn t have
done better. I realized I really can do anything. Things didn t get too much better, but
I think they realized it

Gifted Hands Movie And Book Comparison
Many people have read the book Gifted Hands. In this book Ben s mom and dad
both have similarities and differences. Even though Ben s parents are separated,
they are both still a part in Ben s life. With this being said, they both love Ben in
their own different ways. Let us now consider a few examples of this.
To begin with, Ben s mom has always stayed with her family that she is with now
her whole life. On the contrary, Ben s dad had what I call a side family . What I
mean by this is that, in the book Gifted Hands it stated that Ben s dad was cheating
on his mom with another woman, and family. Also Ben s mom was always there for
Ben and supports him with all of the decisions. On the other hand, his father is never
there to even be there
Angela s Ashes Memoir
Angela s Ashes is an autobiographical memoir written by Irish American author
Frank McCourt. McCourt is the oldest of five brothers and one sister. He along
with four of his sibling were born in America in Brooklyn, New York and lived
there until he was four and then moved back to Ireland because they had a hard time
surviving in America. His familyand moved back to Ireland in the midst of the Great
Depressionfinding it hard for his father to get a job because of his alcoholism and
his Northern manner. Throughout McCourt s childhood he was caught in the
middle of all the hardships his parents endured. Although, his family endured much
struggle, that did not stop them from fulfilling his religious duties, such as First
Communion. It also did not stop him and his brother, Malachy from going to
school to learn more about their religion. In his early teens, he realized that his
father had abandoned his mother and his siblings when he said he would go look
for a job. At the age of 14, Frank stopped going to school and got odd jobs to help
support his mother and siblings. He remembers his childhood as the miserable Irish
Catholic childhood. He himself decided to move back to America when he was 18 to
get away from the poverty in Ireland. Frank McCourts Angela s Ashes took place
during the time of the Great Depression. The Great Depression was a worldwide
economic depression leaving many jobless or losing their jobs. The Great Depression
affected Frank McCourt and his family
The Potential Misuse of Genetic Engineering and Cloning
Human s wisdom has not yet caught up to their capability in science and technology.
Genetics are being experimented which could alter human evolution. This technology,
genetic alteration, is close to being used by the public. Cloning is a form of genetic
alteration and experimentation. More legislation should be passed to further restrict
genetic experimentation due to the possible misuses of the technology.
There are many different forms of cloning. There is cloning in nature which helps
with farming and has been around for thousands of year. The cloning of animals and
humans is another form. The first cloned animals were created by Hans Driesch in
the late 1800 s. His goal was to prove that genetic material is not lost during cell
division. While testing sea urchins, the results ended up with two identical sea
urchins. There were no major advances in cloning until November of 1951, when
Robert Briggs cloned a frog embryo. We now have the technological advancements to
clone a human being.
Nuclear transfer is how most of cloning is done. It is the introduction of the nucleus
from a cell into an egg cell that has had its own nucleus removed. This can be
accomplished through fusion of the cell to the egg or through the direct removal of
the nucleus from the cell and the subsequent transplantation of that nucleus into the
egg cell that has had its own nucleus removed.
Genetic engineering is not completely a bad thing. Humans and animals are not the
only thing that can be
Glucocerebrosidase Enzyme Essay
Glucocerebrosidase enzyme (GCase) with alpha synuclein (SNCA) interaction is a
specific significance to PD because it is a single glucocerebrosidase (GBA) mutation
is that carries an increased risk of cognitive impairment. Synuclein alpha is linked to
the cognitive impairment and psychosis of PD and DLB. The lost function of GBA
has been found in postmortem brainof individuals that were diagnosed had a global
defect in lysosomal enzymes with those with PD. The GBA genewithin the brain
increases the risk of individuals of having PD due to the mutation of the gene. These
genes will reflect the low activity of lysosomal hydrolase ОІ glucocerebrosidase

Participants were asked if they were currently and regularly exposed to certain
acids, solvents, coal, stone, dust, asbestos, and chemicals. They were deemed

individuals were then categorized by duration of their self reported exposure. Out
of the 7,864 participants there were 1,956 people were deemed as farmers,
fishermen, and ranchers. One similarity among those exposed in this particular
study was that those exposed had lower educational levels than those who were not.

A by product of heroin synthesis called 1 methyl 4 phenyl 1,2,3 tetrahydropyridine
(MPTP) has been identified as a factor of inducing syndromes of Parkinson s
disease in humans (Bin Liu, 2003). Another study suggested that degeneration of
MPTP may be caused by oxidative stress (Du Chu Wu*, 2002). Dopaminergic
neurotoxicity has been reported in animals and thus predicted as a risk to humans.
Paraquat is a highly toxic pesticide that is used as an herbicide that targets weed
and grass control. It is not supposed to have a human counterpart. However, there
has been evidence that says that exposure to paraquat is indeed correlated with the
development of PD. (Bin Liu, 2003). A lethal dose of paraquat for a human is said
to be 2.5 grams [14]. Research within the last ten years has

And the good lord will forgive me: that s his ( Catherine II: quote on leadership ). In history there have been many good examples of good and powerful leaders. A person who exemplifies good leadership; protects one s nation, is a strong speaker and communicator, is confident, and can organize a well developed government system. Catherine the second, was a Russian ruler. She was ultimately one of the most powerfulest rulers. Many believe that Catherine ruled during a period, in which was considered by many, a golden age for Russia. A golden age is when a civilization has reached a period of peace, unity, prosperity, and achievements. In the year 1762, Catherine was crowned Empress of Russia. Catherine s motive of ruling Russia, was to make it a powerful union by spreading and expanding education, and making a national culture. Despite many failures such as not improving the lives of serfs, who were the majority of the Russian population and it has been said by many that she ruled through dishonesty and scandal, Catherine the Great was ultimately a successful leader of Russia. Due to the wonderful accomplishments she made and all of the admiration she received from the people, therefore earned the powerful title of Catherine the Great ( Prominent Russians: Catherine II the Great ). Although she never accepted the title of Catherine the Great, she
  • 25. Architectures for Scalable Quantum Computation Essay 1. Introduction A classical computer represents an implementation of a (sub ) Turing machine that is limited by the laws of classical physics. As such, certain computational problems are either extremely difficult to solve or are intractable (w.r.t. resources). In order to tackle these problems, a super Turing computational model has been devised and named as the quantum computer [1]. Quantum computation is based on the laws of quantum mechanics and can outperform classical computation in terms of complexity. The power comes from quantum parallelism that is achieved through quantum superposition [2] and entanglement [3]. Computability is unchanged so intractable problems are still unsolvable, but the exponential increase in speed means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This requires use of large amounts of auxiliary qubits (aka. ancillae). Further fault tolerance is achieved by applying the error correction codes recursively (in levels) [9], exponentially increasing overhead and reducing fault probability. Due to these error correction schemes, a single logical qubit is represented by multiple physical qubits. As an example, a single logical qubit at two levels of recursion is represented by 49 [10] or 81 [11] physical qubits, depending on the error correction code used. Intuitively, the number of physical qubits required for interesting integer factorisation described in [4] would be in the thousands. This is a problem because most investments into manufacturing technology went into silicon based devices and technology such as ion traps [12,13] are not as well developed. Hence, initial proposals for quantum architectures such as the Quantum Logic Array (QLA) [14] are space inefficient and somewhat impractical. This review attempts to give an outline of the current state of quantum computing architectures based on the QLA and provide critical comments. 2. Review The quantum logic array (QLA) [14], designed by Metodi et al., is one the first complete architectural designs of a trapped ion quantum computer based on the quantum charge coupled device architecture in [13]. However, as it is the first attempt at

The education system in the United States has problems over the years because it has some flaws of helping students to succeed. Students who attend community college or university will have issues that will cause them to be in debt or could not complete it. The system tried many ways to bring students accomplish their degree, but the problem is that students face issues that will affect their goal of reaching their degree. The system has changed in order to fix some problems; however, the results make the prices for most colleges so high that not many students could afford. Not many students are rich because most students are on the benefits from social security or working. Students who need help are most likely be the ones who will fail at a higher rate of the lack of support from college. Most colleges are not doing the right job to solve the system; however, they did make some input such as financial aid and tuition for certain classes. Many college students drop out of school due to problems exist such as the lack of preparation, lack of globalism language, and financial aid needs. First, the problem of the education system has enrolled new students that were unprepared in most colleges. Community college (or four year college) is a school that brought students from high school to learn advanced education by learning the college basics and focusing on their career.

Some companies want to bring a fully autonomous car to reality, which wouldn t need any human interaction to drive the car, while other ones are interested in driverless cars, which need humans to drive them. Both autonomous and driverless concepts give cars more control over themselves, and both aim to give more comfort for mankind, thus providing an easier life for drivers and passengers, but the idea of an autonomous car on the roads raises some questions about the safety of it and the responsibility over a car like this. A driverless car can have most of the autonomous features, it just needs someone to drive it, and then the control would also be from a person that would be more watchful and take responsibilities over the car. Ford is going to launch an autonomous car. The company already has a semi autonomous one in market, the Fusion hybrid, and they say that the car is automated, but by automated they mean that it is capable of automated operation under the supervision of a human driver. Jeremy Bentham is one of the proponents of modern utilitarianism and states, nature has placed mankind under the governance of two sovereign masters, pain and pleasure (Boylan, 2009, p. 154). In business utilitarianism shares the nonmoral views that the best decision that had no moral conflict would be to maximize profit, which would be the greatest good of the company and its employees (Boylan, 2009, p. 162). Utilitarianism does not always hold true in some minds. Utilitarianism does not take into account motives of the people (Boylan, 2009, p. 165). If one acts in accord with the general principle and its corollaries, then one is moral (Boylan, 2009, p. 165). Deontology is a moral theory that emphasizes one s duty to do a particular action just because the action, itself, is inherently right and not through any other sorts of calculations such as the consequences of the action (Boylan, 2009, p. 171). In many aspects deontology is contrasted with utilitarianism. Deontology is based upon principle and does not calculate the consequences (Boylan, 2009, p. 171). Deontology attracts those seeking a stronger moral attraction because it refers to commanding rather than commending and commanding is a stronger structure (Boylan, 2009, p. 172). The

Although the tale follows the lives of young girl June and outlaw Daniel (nicknamed Day), many side characters are also introduced and developed throughout the course of the book. All of these characters possess interesting names that enhance the plot in certain ways, and while most of the characters names fit them, some do not. To begin with, the name of the main character June refers to the month of the same name, which in turn was named for the Roman Goddess Juno. Furthermore, the exact meaning of Juno is not fully known, but it may be related to an Indo European root that translates to youth . Additionally, Juno was the queen of the heavens in Roman mythology. She was also the protectress of women and marriage, as well as the goddess of finance. • 40. Break Of Day In The Trenches By Isaac Rosenberg Break of Day in the Trenches is by one of the First World War s leading war poets, Isaac Rosenberg. Many often remember Rosenberg as a Jewish English poet, or a poet of war, but there is more to his writing than what meets the eye. Rosenberg died at the age of twenty eight in World War I on April 1, 1918. Critics often say that Isaac was an impressive young poet and that his future was bright in the poetryworld. It can be seen throughout his poems that Isaac incorporates a large amount of symbolism and feeling into his pieces. A primary focus for Rosenberg s poems is centered around the hardship and struggle in war. For example, a few of his most famous poems including Dead Man s Dump, On Receiving News of the War, Soldier: Twentieth Century and Break of Day in the Trenches all incorporate the mentality of a soldier facing battle. It is easy for an individual to talk about the thought of war and the struggle that a soldier may face. Furthermore, Rosenberg wrote from his experience as a young man going through such a horrific event, which allowed his readers to see what he saw, feel what he felt, and undergo what he went through. He mastered this art form in the early years of his life and shared his work with the world. In many cases, he describes an object or occurrence and lets the description do most of the work. Instead of using the rhyming schemes or more structural outlines of poetry, Isaac approaches more of a free verse technique of writing in in his work. For example, in Break of Day in the Trenches, The darkness crumbles away. It is the same old druid Time as ever, Only a live thing leaps my hand, A queer sardonic rat, As I pull the parapet s poppy To stick behind my ear. Droll rat, they would shoot you if they knew Your cosmopolitan sympathies. (Rosenberg, Isaac. Break of Day in the Trenches. Poetry Foundation. Poetry Foundation, n.d. Web. 24 May 2017.) The introduction portion of this poem foreshadows a theme for the reader such that Rosenberg does not use an ABC format, instead he employs a descriptive structure technique. In this particular poem the rat that will cross No Man s Land and make friends with the enemy, the Germans. According to

In short, it is the detection of a disease or disorder before it has completely developed. Now one might think, Why should I care about such a thing? Well, these folks should think about a person they cherish the most. How would it affect them if they discovered that their loved one had cancer, but it was too late to treat it? This does not always have to be the case with early detection and diagnosis. People around the world ought to embrace the beauty of technology, and take every measure possible to continue living a healthy, happy life. Technological advancements have greatly impacted our society, in a positive way, by allowing early diagnosis, which can lead to early action. I maintain that the benefits of early detection heavily outweigh the potential associated risks. Due to the overwhelming abundance of the technological advancements in medicine, society is now able to help citizens prevent, detect, and treat many disorders of the human body. Developments in medical technology came as a complete and total surprise to some, including Olga Golubnitschaja, author of Predictive Diagnostics and Personalized Treatment: Dream or Reality. Vivisection and dissection were the ways in which anatomists discovered the anatomy of the human body and the way it functioned. Vivisection was an extremely emotional issue; people didn t believe that cutting up a human being whilst dead, let alone alive was respectful, so it was condemned in some countries. However, during the Ptolemaic age in Egypt it became possible for Greek and other anatomists to dissect and vivisect in a free and unrestricted environment. This change in attitude was due to the philosophical teachings of Aristotle. The ready supply of criminals able to be used for vivisection also made this controversial practice possible. Aristotle never possessed any inclination to open a human being, although he performed many dissections and vivisections on animals seen as near to man , these being Barbary apes, dogs and pigs. The only chances of his observations came from a wounded mutilated person. Via vivisection, anatomists found that the heart pumps blood, humans breathe through

The Ego, or the I , is the self awareness part of the brain. This part takes into account reality and tries to compromise between Id and the real world. The Superego, or the above I applies moral principles to the Ego s solutions [McLeod, Id, Ego, Superego]. Many times this works, but sometimes these systems of judgment fail. This applies not only to people, but also to societies, as represented in The Crucible. The Id, as mentioned previously, is the need and want driven part of one s psyche. The girls who were pretending to be ailed and bewitched are the Id of the society, acting primarily upon Thanatos, their will to live and preserve their own lives. The power of the Id, combined with the Ego, but lacking the Superego, can be a powerful force to recon with, especially in ones so young. This is evident in the part of the play when Mary is testifying in court against the girls. At first Mary is trying to persevere against them, MARY: They re sporting...! GIRLS: (Cutting her off.) They re sporting! MARY: (Turning on them all, hysterically and stamping her feet.) Abby, stop it! GIRLS: (Stamping their feet.) Abby, stop it! [Miller, 48] Eventually, her Id

Things I ve never done before and things people thought I couldn t do. Situations I thought I wouldn t be in and there I was. Junior year, I did it. There s a little bit of a lead up to my moment and it goes back to my eighth grade year. I ve been in band for a long time and that year I had decided to become an aide for the band. I loved watching the band, and every show I was fascinated by the majorettes. I thoughteverything from the outfits to just twirling in general was amazing. A year had gone by, I didn t think much about the majorettes in between my eighth grade and freshman year. I went into marching band; I was in the trumpet section.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was happy, I had what I wanted to do, I made a goal for myself and I had reached it. Then band practices started. The other three I didn t really know and my friends were still playing instruments. Every single practice we would go down far away from everyone else and they would have me work on the same things by myself all the time, while they did other things. If I didn t get something right away it was assumed I wasn t going to get it at all. If I asked to be shown something a different way, I was yelled at for not understanding. I went from loving the majorettes to hating them, wanting to be like them, to hoping I never was like that. Band camp was horrible, plain and simple. They gave me two days to learn everything and since they came up with everything they already had it down. I had two awful panic attacks that week, one while we were on the field. The other three acted like they hated me and it wasn t subtle. I couldn t do anything with them, and I could barely talk to them without them being patronizing. Practices continued. Nothing changed; except for me. I kept going, I didn t let them win and I didn t quit. Now the moment: the first game. I wasn t as nervous as I thought I d be. I felt that since I had made it so long already with dealing with the three that I could get through anything. I can honestly say that for my first time really performing I couldn t have done better. I realized I really can do anything. Things didn t get too much better, but I think they realized it

  • 50. The Potential Misuse of Genetic Engineering and Cloning Human s wisdom has not yet caught up to their capability in science and technology. Genetics are being experimented which could alter human evolution. This technology, genetic alteration, is close to being used by the public. Cloning is a form of genetic alteration and experimentation. More legislation should be passed to further restrict genetic experimentation due to the possible misuses of the technology. There are many different forms of cloning. There is cloning in nature which helps with farming and has been around for thousands of year. The cloning of animals and humans is another form. The first cloned animals were created by Hans Driesch in the late 1800 s. His goal was to prove that genetic material is not lost during cell division. While testing sea urchins, the results ended up with two identical sea urchins. There were no major advances in cloning until November of 1951, when Robert Briggs cloned a frog embryo. We now have the technological advancements to clone a human being. Nuclear transfer is how most of cloning is done. It is the introduction of the nucleus from a cell into an egg cell that has had its own nucleus removed. This can be accomplished through fusion of the cell to the egg or through the direct removal of the nucleus from the cell and the subsequent transplantation of that nucleus into the egg cell that has had its own nucleus removed. Genetic engineering is not completely a bad thing. Humans and animals are not the only thing that can be
  • 51. Glucocerebrosidase Enzyme Essay Glucocerebrosidase enzyme (GCase) with alpha synuclein (SNCA) interaction is a specific significance to PD because it is a single glucocerebrosidase (GBA) mutation is that carries an increased risk of cognitive impairment. Synuclein alpha is linked to the cognitive impairment and psychosis of PD and DLB. The lost function of GBA has been found in postmortem brainof individuals that were diagnosed had a global defect in lysosomal enzymes with those with PD. The GBA genewithin the brain increases the risk of individuals of having PD due to the mutation of the gene. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Participants were asked if they were currently and regularly exposed to certain acids, solvents, coal, stone, dust, asbestos, and chemicals. They were deemed farmers if their job coded according to the US Census of 1980 as farmer . These individuals were then categorized by duration of their self reported exposure. Out of the 7,864 participants there were 1,956 people were deemed as farmers, fishermen, and ranchers. One similarity among those exposed in this particular study was that those exposed had lower educational levels than those who were not. [13]. Also, both men and women who were exposed had a 14% higher rate of being a farmer . A by product of heroin synthesis called 1 methyl 4 phenyl 1,2,3 tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) has been identified as a factor of inducing syndromes of Parkinson s disease in humans (Bin Liu, 2003). Another study suggested that degeneration of MPTP may be caused by oxidative stress (Du Chu Wu*, 2002). Dopaminergic neurotoxicity has been reported in animals and thus predicted as a risk to humans. Paraquat is a highly toxic pesticide that is used as an herbicide that targets weed and grass control. It is not supposed to have a human counterpart. A lethal dose of paraquat for a human is said to be 2.5 grams [14]. Research within the last ten years has
