Offer And Acceptance Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Offer and Acceptance" can be a challenging yet
intellectually stimulating endeavor. This topic delves into contract law, requiring a
comprehensive understanding of legal principles, case precedents, and their application in
various scenarios.
Firstly, you must grasp the nuances of what constitutes a valid offer and acceptance in the legal
context. This involves delving into legal definitions, landmark cases, and evolving
interpretations. The depth of knowledge required spans contract formation, revocation of offers,
and the various modes of acceptance.
Furthermore, a well-constructed essay would necessitate a critical analysis of the implications
and exceptions associated with the offer and acceptance paradigm. It requires the ability to
dissect legal concepts, recognize their practical applications, and evaluate the implications of
different decisions in legal scenarios.
The challenge lies not only in presenting accurate legal information but also in articulating your
thoughts coherently. A strong essay demands logical organization, clarity of expression, and the
ability to convey complex legal ideas in a manner accessible to the reader.
Research is a fundamental aspect of tackling this topic. Engaging with academic literature, legal
precedents, and relevant case studies is essential to provide a well-rounded understanding of the
subject matter. Ensuring that your arguments are backed by credible sources is crucial for the
academic rigor expected in legal essays.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Offer and Acceptance" requires a blend of legal acumen,
analytical thinking, and effective communication skills. It's a task that demands not only a grasp
of legal doctrines but also the ability to apply them in real-world scenarios. While challenging, it
offers the opportunity to delve deep into the intricacies of contract law, making the process both
intellectually enriching and rewarding.

The King Of The Franks Essay

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon
them.
William Shakespeare
Do you agree/disagree/partially agree that Charlemagne was an example of all three?
Clovis, king of the Franks, established the Merovingian Empire in 481. Then, in
511, he split his empire between his four sons. The kings in the Merovingian line
continued to hand down their thrones to their later generations, which slowly
started to make them weak. This was because they were using nepotism instead of
giving positions based on merit. So, after time, positions called Mayors of the
Palace were formed. Mayors of the Palace, according to the dictionary, were people
of a line of hereditary administrative lieutenants to the Merovingian kings who
eventually took over royal function and title in the Frankish kingdoms . Over time,
the descendants of Clovis became to be known as Do Nothing kings , because
they relied on the Mayors of the Palace to do work. The Do Nothing kings began to
have virtually no power, but they still held on to their title as king. One of the most
famous Mayors of the Palace was Charles Martel. His son, Pepin became the
Frankish king. Pepin s son was Charlemagne. Charlemagne, or Charles the Great,
was the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, who achieved many well known
accomplishments which have shaped the political, military, and religious aspects of
Europe today. Charlemagne was known by Einhart as a good father,
The Importance Of A Thorough Home Inspection
A thorough home inspection is one of the most important steps before purchasing a
home, and many buyers try to skip this step only to end up regretting it later when
problems become apparent. Your home is the place you go to get away from the
world, and to relax and put your feet up, or spend time with your family and friends.
You want to be reassured that the home you buy is safe and in good condition. A
home inspectioncan give you this peace of mind, using a visual inspectionof every
aspect of the home both inside and out. This should be done by a professional home
inspector who has the education, knowledge, and experience needed to identify
problems which may not be readily apparent.
There are some questions you should ask any prospective home inspection company,
and things to consider, to guarantee you get a thorough and complete inspection.
How long has the inspector been doing these inspections? How many home
inspections does the inspector do in a year? How much experience does the home
inspector have inspecting homes identical to the one you are buying? These
questions are important, because without adequate experience the inspector may
miss signs of a hidden problem. Choose a home inspection company that exclusively
does only home inspections, and does not just practice this as a sideline to their day
job. Ask about the reports that will be given, will you get a written report, an oral
report, or both? Does the home inspection company have certification? Do they

End Homelessness In Our Nation
To be considered a World Changer one must love God, and understand the
brokiness that exist in our nation today. As a world changer we are to walk with
God while promoting a visualization for others to see. The importance of a world
changer is to service and support the world.
One distinctive way that I would choose as a world changer is to end homelessness.
Homelessness is an increasing crisis that impacts our nation. In my honest opinion
there should be no one homeless. In order to end homelessness I would help to
transform minds by speaking and educating the minds of people regarding the huge
dilemma of being homeless. Another distinct way is to help inspire children that live
in poverty. As a world changer I would develop an organization

Case Summary
Dawei ChenCase Summary Confucius, Machiavelli, and Rousseau According to
the Case context, we can find out many ideas about leadership. First, from the
great Chinese ancient philosopher Confucius that we can learn that a phenomenal
leader needs to love people and use virtue to rule a society. The ultimate goal for a
leader is to fulfill everyone s demand. In order to achieve this goal; a leader must be a
sage or at least a very wise man to set up a very extraordinary example for others to
learn. However, this opinion has a very obvious flaw that people cannot be as good
as he think and most people are selfish that this kind of leadership is not going to be
successful. Second, From the Machiavelli, we can acquire the idea which... Show

second, their leadership and opinions exhibit us a great culture diversity. In
Eastern culture in particular in China because of the long history, there were lots
of great leaders in their history; this situation establishes a social structure that
people prefer to have a great sage such as Confucius to lead their lives rather than
the social contract (law). Moreover, in this social structure, leaders need to be a
very excellent man to lead the direction of social development, but sometimes it
does not work very well because most leaders are flawed normal people. Compare
this circumstance to the Western, most Western states does not have such long
history this lead to a quite different situation. Even if there were lots of great leader
people still prefer to set a conference to discuss the social problems. This idea could
be dated from the ancient Grace. In recent period particularly in revolution era this
idea spread very fast and filled into people very deeply. This shows us very obvious
assertion that leaders need to use different strategies in different culture background.
Third, leaders need to combine different skills to achieve a successful leadership. In
human history, society are changing very fast, many ideologists and wise man once
gave us the idea that what is leadership. In my eyes, a competent leadership is a

The Food Industry And Its Impact On The Society
Half a century ago, farm animals were raised on open fields, breathing fresh air, and
grazing on pastures. Today, over 99% of farm animals in the U.S. are raised in
industrialized factory farms, which focus on profit and efficiency as opposed to the
animal s welfare. The industry has forgotten the importance of the animals health and
wellbeing and has become obsessed with profit to the point that it is negatively
impacting the animals in the industry. The food industry needs to be reformed to
return the focus of the farms to the animals in order to protect them from cruel and
inhumane treatment or practices. The wide open fields that farmanimals used to be
raised on are a thing of the past. In order for the factory farms to make more profit,
they confine the animals to limited space because the less room they take up, the
higher their profit to land ratio is. Of all the animals, chickens by far suffer the most
when it comes to space and confinement, the chickens live crammed
together...because they live in their own waste, high ammonia levels irritate and
burn their eyes, throats and skin (ASPCA). The factory farms are not concerned
with the comfort or health of the chickens because it does not affect their profit. A
sore throat or sores on the surface of their skin will not change their value. Chickens
are not alone in this. At just two to three weeks old, piglets are removed from their
mothers and placed in large, windowless sheds without fresh air, sunlight or
Gator Tail Concert Report Sample
On September 12th, Gator Tail, a jazz band consisting of faculty members,
performed at Kimbrough Hall. This concert was the first in a series of WSU Faculty
Artist concerts that are being held throughout the year. Gator Tail is a jazz band,
composed of four faculty members, with both blues and funk influences, giving it a
more modern sound. One unique aspect of the band was the use of a Hammond
organ. Organs are not typically seen in jazz bands, and Gator Tail s unique sound
comes from this instrument. During the concert, there were many solo parts played
by all the instruments. For example, Greg Yasinitsky, the saxophonist, would often
have solo parts during a song, and one of the other instruments would respond with
another solo part, exemplifying the call and response technique. The concert was
completely made up of original compositions written by the members of the band.
While each composition was written by members, each song had their own individual
sound and style, making the music interesting to listen to. One composition,
Undercurrent composed by Brad Ard, was heavily influenced by Norwegian jazz,
giving it a unique sound that made it stand out from the other compositions. Teo

Since it was held on campus, it was convenient for students to come, as well as
other faculty members and members of the Pullman community. The concert was
well attended; however, I do think that if the concert was better advertised there
would have been more people in attendance. I did not know there were concerts so
often until I took this course and I think many students would be interested in going
if they knew about the concerts. The audience enjoyed the concert, and I personally
enjoyed how each composition had a story to go with it. For example, Partial Eclipse
got its name because Greg Yasinitsky finished composing it during the eclipse this
Analysis Of The Poem My Papa s Waltz
The relationship between a parent and child is potentially one of the most
influential in a child s life. A positive interaction often yields admiration, love or a
sense of support. A negative relationship may yield distrust, animosity or a sense of
solitude. Theodore Roethke s poem, My Papa s Waltz, describes the admiration of
his hardworking father. The speaker, a young boy, depicts roughhousing with his
father in the form of a waltz; expressing his desire to stay up and spend more time
together though their relationship is detached. Seamus Heaneys Digging, instills a
sense of respect, pride, and a slight affliction for the speaker s choice of the pen over
the spade. The speaker has chosen a different path in life than that of his father and
grandfather. Although written at different stages in life, both Roethke and Heaney
write a poem about their families utilizing vivid imagery to demonstrate the love and
pride they felt for these men.
In My Papa s Waltz, the speaker, a young boy who is presumably the author,
Theodore Roethke, recalls an interaction he once had. His father, who is perhaps a
farmer, just arrived from a long day at work, had a drink of whisky and then began
playfully roughhousing with the boy in the kitchen while his mother frowned at the
pots and pans falling down. His vivid portrayal inserts the reader into their home.
Roethke describes his father as a rough, hard working individual: [the] hand that held
my wrist [was] battered on one knuckle...
Case Study Of Innovation Around Product System
Innovation around Product System: A Case Study on Despite Group of Companies
and Koko King
A business, no matter how large it is, cannot thrive without innovation. In a world
where obsolescence, and not only physical damage, shorten the life cycle of products
and services, innovation is key. Innovation, as largely defined, is the art of adding
value to an already existing product, service or process or the art of creating
something new. Innovation around product system implies creating value through the
building of offerings that will complement the already existing ones (Doblin, 2017).
This piece seeks to explore the topic, Innovation around Product Systems. The text
will study carefully how the Ghanaian companies, Despite Group of Companies ...

The company took the product performance innovation approach as they enhanced
the packaging whilst increasing accessibility to Hausa koko (porridge). With regards
to system innovation, Koko King added to its breakfast dishes (oat, eku egbeemi
/grits, wheat porridge, corn porridge, tom brown, oblayo and rice porridge),
sandwiches, pancakes, and akara as supplements. Moreover, the company has
added lunch dishes like banku, wakye, jollof and kenkey (Koko King, 2017).
These different local dishes give variety to customers and with a reliable delivery
service as a compliment, they are able to capture the value created. Their
innovation greatly paid off. They did not only boost sales but as well won many
awards. Among these awards are Small and Medium Entrepreneur of the Year 2013,
Overall Best SME (SMEGA 2013), Product Innovation of the Year 2013 and 2014,
and Industrial Sector Award for Best FoodProcessing Company (SMEGA 2014)
(Koko King, 2017).
Key Lessons Learnt After a thorough exploration of product system innovation and an
in depth examination of the cases, the authors came to the realization that innovation,
no matter which type or how small it might be, pays. Society recognized and awarded
both companies for their innovation and their sales soared with innovation. Again, the
authors accepted the what should be the obvious relevance of product system
innovation to shield

How Technology Affects Modern Education Essay
Introduction:
There is a remarkable increase for the users of Internet in the worldwide and
meanwhile, nearly all ages of students are required to find and share information
online. It is reported that, according to the CNNIC, China s Internet users have risen
up to 688,000,000. In this report, the groups of youngsters (19 below) and students
accounted for more than 46.1% and 46.4% respectively in the new increase of
Internet users (). For these young Internet users, their needs for computers are mainly
entertainment, communication, and a portable access to use a smart phone. Since
the young generation has become the primary groups of Internet, there is an
inevitable thinking for us that technology affects modern education enormously step
by step.
I, as a student, also feel the convenience that the computer brings to me when I study
the coursework. Nowadays, I cannot imagine a life without a computer. For my study,
I use the computer to read the learning materials, prepare for my class, and review
the class afterwards. When I meet difficulties in my curriculum work, I find help
from my classmates, my friends, or even strangers online. Even in my personal life, I
use computers and smart phones to entertain myself, contact my family members and
communicate with my friends every day. After I have learned the lectures in Week
12, I find myself have a much deeper understanding on how technology affect the
way of learning and teaching in today s classroom. In the following, I

story, background information should have been included. Background information
such as how many people were on the plane or why did they take off in icy weather.
Other information that the author could include is who was the man in the water, or

Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis and The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood
The adolescent years are often associated with turbulence, illusion, and self
discovery; however, Kingsley Amis s Lucky Jim and Margaret
Atwood s The Edible Woman demonstrate that more often than not, the twenties
possess these qualities to a greater extent than adolescence. The age period of the
twenties often consists of relationships, employment and self issues and using the
premise of these uncertain times, Amis and Atwood effectively satire various societal
systems. Moreover, Amis and Atwood both implement the use of the foil, a character
who, by contrast with another character, accentuates that character s distinctive
characteristics. In

Thus, Jim was inwardly laughing at Christine s mannerisms and yet, when Carol
Goldsmith asks him What s the joke?, Jim replies Oh, nothing (Amis
50). Thus, Amis uses Christine, one of Jim s love interests who acts as a foil to
Margaret, as a tool to show Jim s disparity between his outward and inward character.
However, towards the climax of Lucky
Jim, Jim becomes furious with Bertrand Welch for telling Jim to stay away from
Christine and for the first time, Jim reconciles his thought and his action. The
bloody old towser faced boot faced totem pole on a crap reservation, Dixon thought.
You bloody old towser faced boot faced totem pole on a crap reservation, he said
(Amis 209).
This signifies the maturation of Jim s character and the union of his outward and
inward personage. Moreover, this character growth would never have occurred
without the use of a foil because without the contrast of Christine to Margaret, Jim
would have never appreciated
Christine s appealing attributes. Similarly, in The Edible Woman,
Atwood shows the maturation of Marian s character. However, unlike the character of
Jim, Marian s outward and inward character divergence occurs after Marian meets
one of her love interests: Duncan. Atwood contrasts Duncan to Peter,
The Importance Of Population Differences
Geographers have different factors to focus on when trying to understand why there
are differences in the world s population. Crude birth rate, crude death rate, natural
increase rate, life expectancy and so on. Each of those are methods used by
geographers to measure population. Geographers should not only look at those
methods when trying to figure out the populationdifferences. Some social factors like
the economy, culture, lifestyle and the government contributes in the differences in
population. Crude birth rateand life expectancy are the two most important indicators
that can help a geographer understand why is there differences in the population.
Crude birth rate is an immensely important factor because not in all courtiers a
woman is having up to seven children. According to statista Niger is a country with
the highest crude birth rate because women are estimated to have 6.76 children per
women. However, China has the largest population in the world and in the
Washington post it states that China allows couples to only have two children. It is
also mentioned that although the government allows couples to have two children
most people only have one child. People in China prefer to just have one child
because is extremely costly. In the Washington post it indicates that to prepare a
child to succeed in the country s competitive schools and workplaces, parents must
invest lots of time and money in a child for schooling, extracurricular activities, and
outside tutoring, often for college entrance and English proficiency exams . This
type of factors makes the difference in population. The economy is not the same
around the world and in the countries that are poor women do not health care and
that means they can not be put on birth control. Crude birth rate explains why some
countries population is bigger than others. If women in some countries are having 5
and more children the population is going be higher than in countries that women
are having one child. In this case, China can not be included because although you
are allowed to just have two children, China was already over populated and had to
come up with the one child policy. I believe that if China stick to just having one
child and Niger s

The Life of A Pharmacy Technician
During the years, Pharmacy has became one of many huge professions to take.
Numerous people will tell you that, you do not hanve to go to school to become a
Pharmacy Technician; but if you do not know anything about this profession you are
going in clueless. Fortis college was my greatest experiance, with the most amazing
people people, and teachers. If it was not for school I would definietly not know the
accuracy of speed, the multitasking with communication, and computer skills for a
pharmacy that is needed. Being fast at what you do with know mistakes is a major
task to know in a pharmacy world. In retail pharmacy there are many prescriptions
a day, so speed for counting and lableing is a must. They do not want you to go to
fast though because they want accuracy also. Even with competetitors, this is
where our speed needs to be, to get patients in and out with smiling faces. For

Jean Valjean In Les MisпїЅrables
In Victor Hugo s Les MisГ©rables the actions of main character Jean Valjean are
largely influenced by Myriel, Bishop of Digne. The book follows Jean Valjean
throughout his life as an ex convict. Due to his criminal past he is an outcast, with
little to no chance of living a meaningfull life. In this book Jean attempts to redeem
himself, help the needy, and keep his conscience pure. This progression was all
started when Myriel, Bishop of Digne gave him a straw bed to sleep on.
When he first arrives in Digne all of the townsfolk shoo him away, refusing to let a
convict in their establishments. Just when he thought he would have to walk the
long journey to the next town Myriel invites Valjean sleep in his home. During the
night Jean attempts to steal the Bishop s silverware, but is caught while escaping.
When the police brought him back to the The Bishop chose to forgive Jean. He
says that the silver was not stolen, but a gift. He has Jean set free and lets him keep
the silver. Because of the Bishop s act of kindness Jean Valjeanprogresses from an
embittered prisoner with no hope for the future to a loving, cheerful philanthropist
who thought about others before himself. Jean Valjean leaves Digne and eventually
finds his way to the town of Montreuil sur mer, under the alias of Father Madeleine.
Here he invents a new way of casting beads which quickly made him extremely rich.
He uses that wealth throughout the rest of his life to help the poor. He constantly

Asia Pacific Economic Commission (APEC) was established in 1989, the regional

practice for preparing formula feeds is to clean hands and all surfaces before

it can cause the growth of bacteria. If the person or surrounding areas have not been

Killing Lincoln Is Acclaimed As `` Shocking, And A...
Essay
Killing Lincoln is acclaimed as shocking and a historical thriller. It makes the reader
question, Is it really true? with every turning page. Bill O Reilly claims that
everything mentioned is true and unsanitized, so a whole new story is opened to the
audience, such as Booth being funded by the Confederate states and the Booth family
being closely related to the Lincoln family. However, if everything is true, the
question still remains: What is the most significant truth?
Many people may refer to the cold hard facts about Lincoln s assassination as the
most significant because it is something they were never aware of. One may say, I
never knew General Lee and General Grant met before the Civil War! Another might
state, I didn t know Robert Todd Lincolnand John Wilkes Booth loved the same girl!
However, personally, I believe that the most important truth is something far broader
than specific facts. The truth: good will triumph over evil.
Killing Lincoln is the story of how Booth killed Lincoln. It is an eerie story, but
what makes it even more chilling is the similarities it has to other historical
murders. It is one of the many tales of good vs evil. Bill O Reilly, the author, relates
Jesus death, Caesar s death, and numerous others to Lincoln s assassination. What
they have in common is that though the good guy dies, his presence lives on.
Besides the strange coincidence that Lincoln dies at the same time as Jesus (and
Caesar), O Reilly
Examples Of Selfhood In Fahrenheit 451
As stated by Alan Keightley, once in a while it really hits people that they don t
have to experience the world in the way they have been told to . In the novel
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Profiles in Courage, a volume of biographies
written by John F. Kennedy and One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest a novelby Ken
Kesey, it takes characters a great deal of confidence and bravery to suspend
themselves into individualism and out of the uniformity of the environment that they
live in. It is a natural human tendency to desire a sense of personal identity and resist
conformity in society; this being greatly noted in Fahrenheit 451, One Flew Over the
Cuckoo s Nest and Profiles in Courage. In Ray Bradburys novel, Fahrenheit 451, the
need for a feeling of selfhood is illustrated through the protagonist in the story, Guy
Montag. After he meets his neighbor, Clarisse McClellan, Montag... Show more

While speaking of Robert A. Taft, Kennedy states, on more than one occasion he
chose to speak out in defense of a position no politician with like ambitions would
have endorsed (Kennedy 193). This illustrates that Robert A. Taft was a man who
was not always on the same page as everybody else, but was still willing to stand up
for the things he believed in. Other politicians would not public ally give their
approval for certain things, even if they fully supported them, but Robert A. Taft
had no problem doing so. Usually a politician would try and follow every rule put
forth to them, and do exactly as expected, but Robert A. Taft chose to withdraw
from conformity and do what he felt was right. It is also mentioned that Taft was
greatly admired in the capital, despite him isolating himself from society, in a way.

Structure Process And Facility Layout
Forms of Transformation Processes used by Companies and Their Relation to the
Facility Layout
Selecting the most appropriate transformation process and facility layout is one of
the keys towards achieving success in the company s performance. In general, there
are many forms of transformation processes, and each has particular facility layout.
What is more, there are also hybrid combinations of them so the organization can
choose the one that best fits its needs and potential.
Speaking of the basic forms of transformation systems, there are five of them
including job shop, continuous process, cellular production, flow shop, and project
(Meredith Shafer, 2013). Job shops are industries that offer a wide range of
products and services. They can achieve diversity in possible outputs using
departments functionally specializing in one or other good. The specialty of this
transformation system is that the departments comprise of identical equipment or
involve people with nearly the same set of skills, and the process is carried out on a
non stop basis. It also has a peculiar layout that is based on a historically stable output
so that it is rarely changed.
The second type of transformation system is continuous process. Such industries use
a set of materials and equipment and a sequence of processes to produce a final
output. Facility layout of this transformation system is usually a set of needed
equipment such as assembly lines, tanks, pipes, etc., and low skilled employees

Age Related Macular Degeneration Essays
Review: Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of
blindness in people over the age of 50. Every ten years after the age of 50 the
prevalence of this disease increases exponentially. Many different factors contribute
to the development of AMD including genetic, environment, and metabolic functions.
Aside from smoking, abnormal blood pressure, and an unhealthy diet low in fruits
and vegetables, many more studies are concluding that similar inflammatory and
oxidative processes seen in other age related diseases are also playing a key role in
the development of AMD. This disease affects the central areas of the retinaand
choroid. In return central vision is impaired while peripheral vision is usually not
lost. AMD is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dry Macular Degeneration: The early and most common form of AMD is called dry
(atrophic) or nonneovascular macular degeneration. About 90% of AMD cases are
known to be in this form. This form does not involve abnormal blood vessels and
or leaking of fluid. Vision impairments are still great and potential of complete
vision loss is still possible. People affected by dry AMD experience central vision
impairments, limited area of central vision, and limited vision when in areas of
reduced light. Dry AMD is thought to be the result of the retina breaking down
because of the formation of deposits, known as drusen, under the macula. The
macula is a small area within the retina that is responsible for central vision. It s
believed that these deposits interfere with vitamin transport, oxygen transport, and
waste removal in the aged eye directly affecting the macula causing it to thin and dry
out, losing its function. Depending on how severe this thinning and degeneration of
the retina is, vision impairments will vary. Macular degeneration in its early stages
is associated with minimal vision impairments, large drusen, and other pigmentary
abnormalities in the macula. Drusen are deposits of fatty proteins that accumulate
below the basement membrane of the retinal pigment epithelium. People over the
age of 50 years have at least one small hard drusen in one or both eyes. People with
large, soft drusen are the ones at high risk for AMD. Hard

My heart thundered under my breast. I was sure my parents could hear me, asleep in
their beds inside the two story, gray siding clad house on Sunnyvale Court.
Rain puddled at my feet, soaking the dirt of a thousand walks into my off brand
tennis shoes. I usually enjoyed the rain. I liked the feel of walking barefoot in
puddles in the grass and the smell of rain mixed with pine trees. Tonight, the air was
cool and the rain was crisp against my skin for an early August in South Carolina. I
would be out all night, though, so this was completely bad timing.
With my toes pointed out to the street, I stood at the edge of the long driveway. A
cool wind split through my dark poncho. I wanted to shiver, but I steeled myself and
ignored the cold.
This is it, I told myself. If you re going to leave, you need to do it now.
A new house sat half finished around the bend of Sunnyvale. I explored it yesterday

Comparison Of Adgio Bronzino And Robert Campin
The Comparison of Angolo Bronzino and Robert Campin Paintings One must truly
have the desire to understand the true nature of another s painting to find the
impression or story the creator is pertaining to. These two painting Cupid Folly
Venus and Time by Angolo Bronzino and The Merode Alter Piece by Robert Campin
tell a story with every detailed brush stroke. Throughout this essay one will compare,
contrast, symbolize, and Iconograph the two painting, to get a better idea how they are
similar and different. First one must understand the symbolism, reasoning and
iconography of both painting, starting with Cupid, Folly, Venus and Time This
painting dates back to 1546, is an oil on wood, 61 x 56 Вѕ displayed at National
Gallery in London, England. Cosimo de media, the duke of France ordered this
painting, who then gave it to king Francis 1 of France. This painting was considered
sophisticated, playful, and erotic for the time period. The iconography in this painting
has been studied extensively by art scholars for many years, this is what has been
determined thus this far. Looking at this picture you see many different things going
on, almost chaotic, especially for those who may not know Greek mythology, yet
once one knows these myths one will see the suspected hidden meaningin this work.
Starting off Mr. Bronzino paints Venus whom seems to be the object being used by
those around her for their pleasure, or entertainment. She holds an apple which is

Project On Marine Pollution
For this project my partner and I will be taking marine debris from the beaches of
the Kenai Peninsula area and making it into something more useful. More
specifically, we will be taking seaglass and making it into jewelry and other
decorations. The goal of this project is to reduce the amount of marine debris found
in the ocean and on the beaches. Reducing marine debris is vital to the economy
and ecosystems because it can reduce the number of animal deaths related to marine
debris, and it can reduce the amount of marine debris found in the ocean. If marine
debris is reduced then the ecosystems won t be as polluted. Eighty percent of marine
debris is made up of plasticmaterials. Marine debris comes from four main sources;
land based/personally used items, marine industries, container ship spills, and
natural disasters. Marine animals and birds can mistake marine debris for food, and
if they do swallow/digest the trash then it could lead to internal hemorrhaging,
starvation, and choking to death. They can also become entangled in fishing line,
plastic loops, nets, and ropes. If this happens then it could cause infection in the
animals, drowning, and starvation. So, if the population of a certain species start to
decrease, then we would know what was causing it. Our communities are disposing
more and more waste every year. In 2008, our global plastic consumption worldwide
has been estimated at 260 million tons, and, according to a 2012 report by Global

Essay on The Fifty
The Fifty First Dragon
Settings: The first setting is in a knight school where Gawaine is taught how to be a
knight. It also takes place in the forest where he beheads all the dragons and is
almost fooled into being eaten.
Plot: This story is about a student becoming a knight with no spirit at all named
Gawaine le Coeur Hardy. He was considered the least promising of all the pupils. The
headmaster of the school thought he make better of Gawaine. He discussed about
Gawaine with the Professor of Pleasaunce about how to make him more enthusiastic
about training as a knight. Then they thought about training him as a dragon slayer.

He asked the dragon, and the dragon tries to trick him so he can eat him. At the last
minute, he remembers the magic word, but it is too late to say the word. He swings
the ax anyway and beheads the dragon. He comes back and tells the headmaster
what had just happened. The headmaster tells him that there is no such thing as a
magic word and tells him that he has been doing everything all on his own. The
professor says that he was able to slaughter fifty dragons in less then a year.
Characters: Gawaine le Coeur Hardy: He seems pretty cowardice from the
beginning of the book and still cowardice close to the end. He had no spirit as a
knight early in the book and I don t know why he even tried to become one. At the
end he achieves a record of fifty dragons, but is devoured. The only thing they could
find of him were the metallic parts of his medals. They couldn t even find the
ribbons. He made a record for that school that has never been equaled.
The Headmaster: The only reason that Gawaine ever got that far was because of the
headmaster. The headmaster gave him spirit, but after the headmaster told him the
truth, I think Gawaine lost his spirit again. I think that is probably how Gawaine dies.
Conflicts: The first conflict was to get Gawaine to be more enthusiastic about being
a knight. This was resolved by training Gawaine to be a dragon slayer.

Background Information Of Venture Capital
1.Background Information of Venture Capital
Venture capital plays an important role in the financial industry. In this part, we will
introduce the concept, the participants, the differences with the traditional financing
and the process of venture capital.
1.1 Basic Concepts about Venture capital
The money source of venture capital is supplied by individual and/or institutional
investors. Their mission is to finance startups, rapidly growing companies or the
ones that are in debt, hoping one day they can have a sizable return upon exit.
Nowadays venture capital has played a more and more important role in the
investment market because this is a good way for new companies to receive funding
capital. Not like regular source of funding, venture capital is more like to supply
small and new companies since these companies can t get funding capital from
traditional way such as banks. Venture firms provide venture capital to companies. It
builds the connection from investors to invest. In this case, venture firms seek to help
companies that have the potential capacity to earn market and money and seek for a
higher percentage of reward. Once the companies come into the market or exit,
venture firms get their investment back. Venture capital firms usually prefer high
technology industrial. However, in cases where tremendous potential growth is
present, those firms are also willing to step into traditional markets to realize their
investment ideologies.

1. INTRODUCTION
In 1992, Arundel Partners was looking into the idea of purchasing the sequel rights
associated with films produced by one or more major movie studios. Movie rights
were to be purchased prior to films being made. Arundel wanted to determine if this
innovative business strategy is viable by estimating the value of the sequel rights.
2. OBJECTIVE
Our report aims to investigate the viability of the implementation of Arundel s
strategy in purchasing sequel rights to produce potential successful movie sequels.
The discount cash flow (DCF) approach and the real option pricing approach were
adopted in valuing the sequel rights purchased by Arundel respectively. The value of
these sequel rights is then compared to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
This has been calculated to be $4.96M.
This value of $4.96M is evidently larger than the $2M paid by Arundel for each
individual sequel rights.
Optimistic or Pessimistic estimate?
With this value of $4.96M as our value for each sequel rights purchased, we are now
allowed to compare it with other values of sequel rights to understand if we were too
optimistic or pessimistic in our estimate.
Driving Miss Daisy, Dead Poets Society and Batman were chosen to be the
representative movie sequels with their varied sequel rights values that can be
compared to $4.96M. They were chosen because they are all one of the most highly
anticipated successful films that can generate sequels. In particular, the PV of these
successful sequels will help us determine if we are underpaying or overpaying the
current sequel rights for each individual movie.
From Appendix 1, it has been determined that the PV of Driving Miss Daisy, Dead
Poets Society and Batman are $95.42M, $41.27M and $27.21M respectively. The
large magnitude of the PV of these 3 film sequels undermine the relatively smaller
$4.96M we calculated earlier.
If the studio obtains information that a film is going to be very successful, there is a
probability and incentive for them to hold back their production of the initial film so
that the sequel contract with Arundel will expire first. This would imply that Arundel
may need to pay a higher value for sequel
Child Poverty In The Uk Essay
In the last 30 years, there has been increase in child poverty in the Britain.1 We, as a
community, should do as much as we can to help in removing child poverty.

afford many of services that other people of the society can. Child poverty means to
be living in a family where they are having hard time making ends meet. As one of
the richest country, 3.9 million children in the UK living in poverty is apalling.2
What is even worse is London, the capital city, having the highest rate of child
poverty of any English region. 3
Childhood is most important as that lays a foundation of their future and living in

has good, realistic ways to reduce poverty.
In most extreme cases, these children are denied their basic rights. We can t just sit

many ways to help such as campaigns, donations and charity help and provide

Double Replacement Lab
Every reaction that occurred during this lab was a double replacement reaction, or a
chemical reaction in which two aqueous compounds react with each other and result
in two different compounds where one is either a solid precipitate, a liquid (water),
or a gas. A precipitate in this case is a solid that exits the aqueous solution during the
chemical reactionbecause it is too heavy to stay in the solution. Clear signs of a
chemical reaction occurring is the formation of a precipitate, especially in a
double replacement reaction, as well as the release of gas bubbles and the product
of an acid. During a double replacement, the elements switch partners as seen with
the base equation for all double replacement reactions, AB+CD→AC+BD. For a
lab such as this, a hand lens could be used to confirm the presence of gas bubbles or
a precipitate that would not have easily been seen without the device. Also,
performing the reaction in a small test tube would allow for all sides of the reaction
to be seen, not just flatly, in order to confirm that precipitates are falling and settling

Slavery vs. Indentured Servitude
Slavery. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, it is the condition in which one
human being was owned by another. A slave was considered by law as property, and
was deprived of the rights held by free people. Slavery was viewed as a way that
undeveloped people, such as Black African men and women, could receive the
physical and moral discipline and training necessary to attain civilized virtues.
In Colonial America, slaves aged up to 12 were generally considered to be children ,
and those between 12 and 18 to be youths. Such definitions were important when

In early American history, labor migration from Europe is identified with the
phenomenon of indentured servitude. Indentured servitude was an early solution to
the shortage of labor in many parts of the English colonies. It became a central
institution in the economy in many parts of colonial British America. In the Southern
colonies, indentured servants furnished most of the labor until slavery began to take
over.
Indentured servitude was a contract committing one party to make a series of

Emma Critical Incident
Cultural differences are also an important aspect of the critical incident as mother was
from a Pakistan and had recently moved to England. Emma was from Pakistan has
had only been in the country for a year and was finding it difficult to adjust and
integrate into her community.. According to research migrant women experience
feelings of great sadness, vulnerability, loneliness, isolation and wishing for family
members to be around during the perinatal period (Drennan and Joseph, 2005).
Emma did not know about the services available in the community such as children
centres and sure start for support and had to be sign posted by the health visitor to
these services. Gender and ethnicity are important factors which influence the
vulnerability of a person. As a womanfrom Pakistan origin, motherhood signifies your
importance and value in the society. Barns and Maple (1992) show how women hope
that motherhood can give them identity and value as women.
Therefore having a pre term baby was not seen as a norm in their culture. MIND
(2013) states that women who lack social support especially if they are single parent
or recent immigrant are at risk of postnatal depression (PND) which relates to Emma.

The client nurse relation between Emma and her health visitor brought about positive
outcomes. In that, mother trusted her health visitor enough to call her when the baby
was in distress and also followed her and took the baby to hospital. Moreover, the
health visitor called mothers on a regularly for update of baby. This nurse client
relationship has been considered the foundation of successful home visiting programs
for families at risk (McNaughton,

Ogami Itto Essay
The story of Ogami Itto begins with him already ostracized from the palace, renting
his and his infant son s services in the street. His actual story is revealed through a
series of flashbacks. Ogami Itto used to be the executioner to the shogun, one of the
highest and most hated positions in the country. However, the underground arm of
the Yagyu headed by Yagyu Retsudo plots against him, in order to place a man under
their control, in his stead. In their efforts, they have his wife slain by ninjas, and
manage to frame Itto, with false accusations about him overusing his authority.
However, the executioner manages to escape from their trap along with his son, after
killing a number of their men. As he is hunted by the Yagyu with his reputation

Furthermore, Misumi did not shy away from nudity, as most of the women
appearing in the film end up naked in some point, and occasionally raped. There is
even a sex scene between Itto and a prostitute, again in exploitation fashion, since
the two of them are forced to have sex in front of the ronins eyes. RELATED

Tomisaburo Wakayama makes a spectacular Ogami Itto, as he plays his role with
the restrained artistry of a kabuki actor (he uses to be a kabuki actor after role). His
strict persona is defined by his visage, with his eyes communicating a number of
sentiments and statuses, as in the scene where his look forces Daigoro to suckle a
crazy woman s breast, or in the scenes where he is about to attack. His stentorian
voice also gives Itto an added level of respect. On the other hand, Yunosuke Ito plays
Yagyu Retsudo with a distinct hyperbole, which highlights the fact that his character

Biology Enzyme Experiement
An enzyme is a biological catalyst. It speeds up a reaction by lowering the activation
energy required to start the reaction. It speeds up a reaction, but remains unchanged
unless certain limiting factors are introduced. It is composed of polymers of amino
acids. An enzyme has an optimum pH and temperature. When an enzymeis at its
optimum conditions, the rate of reaction is the fastest. In their globular structure, one
or more polypeptide chains twist and fold, bringing together a small number of
amino acids to form the active site, or the location on the enzyme where the substrate
binds and the reaction takes place. An enzyme has an active site, which has a unique
shape into which only a substrate of the exact same unique shape can fit.... Show

My hypothesis is that the more acidic the milk is the faster it takes for the milk to
curdle when renin is added to it. As pH increases, enzyme activity increases until it
reaches an optimal point in which enzymes denatures and as pH increases, enzyme
activity decreases.
Trends in this experiment don t make proper sense due to inaccurate measurements
of the temperature of the milk and inaccurate measurement of pH level. Though I
can say that at pH level 7 and 11 the time taken for the milk to curdle were really
low and close, at pH level 8 the time taken was high and at pH level 9 no result was
taken maybe because the enzyme doesn t function the at this particular pH level.
In conclusion my hypothesis was correct, the more acidic the milk the faster the time
it takes for the milk to curdle. Due to inaccurate measurement, correct results might
not have been obtained thus impacted on our results.

Dependant variable The time it takes for the milk to curdle
Controlled variable The size of the test tube, amount of milk poured into each test

Products Surveyor of the Fittest [pic] BY HONGJUN (HJ) LI With the correct
methodology, companies can effectively assess what market is viable and what
market is not. Industry research shows that 75% of new product launches fail in
the marketplace (visit www.microsoft.com to read its sec tion about new product

challenge to market research professionals: Although some commonly used research
techniques and tools exist, they might not be adequate to address the complete scope
of market assessment required for sound business decision making. The challenge to
senior executives is that they don t have the time to do detailed market investigations
themselves. In addition, they might not have an effective framework for judging the
quality and reliability of their subordinates market assessments. Both dedicated
market research professionals and senior executives can use the methodology

Essay On Eating Away Your Endocrine System
Brianne D. Edwards
Eric Deatherage
Phil 202
5 November 2017
Eating Away Your Endocrine System In 1954, the FDA approved growth stimulating
hormones for use in the general public, creating an opportunity to make that dream an
unsettling reality (FDA 1). Not only were these synthetic drugs encouraged as a
supplement during human pregnancies, but for use in livestock as well (CDC 1).
Aiding in the conversion of feed to fat in animals, dramatically increasing the rate of
growth, artificial growth hormones seemed like the cattleman s miracle elixir.
However, in 1971, the FDA banned the use of DES (diethylstilbestrol, synthetic
estrogen) in humans, which was the primary growth hormone available for human
consumption (CDC 1). Use of DES in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This rare vaginal cancer was seen in girls as young as 8 years old. The mothers
themselves were subjected to a massive increase in the possibility of breast cancer
(DES History 1 5). There is no test available that will predict exposure to DES. There
was no possible way to contact every DES prescribed family, and there was no cures
offering a miracle reverse (DES History 1 5).
Fear not, it was banned for human use; fear, it has since gained popularity in the
cattle growing business. Yes, this cancer causing compound is still used in beef cattle
today. One would venture to assume that the FDA would have banned this substance
entirely, as it is a dangerous drug, though there was far too much of a market for the
drugs using DES in the cattle industry. The cattle were, and still are, injected
intravenously with a nice portion of synthetic hormones. The concentration is so high
around the area of injection that they are forced to cut that part off before butchering
(usually behind the back of the ear; don t eat hot dogs) (FDA).
Using scientific data, the FDA establishes acceptable safe limits for hormones in
meat, meaning that the hormones are literally embedded in the tissues of the animal,
the tissues that consumers ingest (FDA 3). The FDA claims that people are not at
risk by gobbling up a helping of
Symptoms, Causes, Prevention, and Treatment of Gingivtis...
Gingivitis is a type of periodontal disease and is when the gums are inflamed. The
gums in the teeth destroy the tissues because of the inflammation and infection
known as periodontal disease (MedlinePlus n. pag.). Gingivitis typically precedes
periodontitis but it is important to understand that not all gingivitisprogresses to
periodontitis ( Gum Disease n. pag.). Most of the time gingivitis is from not brushing
and flossing which may lead to the use of certain drugs and source of medical
disorders. When the gums turn red, swollen, and start bleeding it is usually the sign
of the common disease, gingivitis. Gingivitis is sometimes not detected and barely
causes any pain in the beginning stages. Nevertheless, gingivitis that is not... Show

Just because there are no noticeable symptoms of gingivitis that does not mean it is
not there. In certain people, gum disease may affect only certain teeth, such as the
molars, only a dentist or a periodontist can identify and decide the progression of
gum disease ( Gum Disease n. pag.). Above all, the effect of long standing plaque
deposits is what causes gingivitis. A sticky material made of bacteria, mucus, and
food debris that grows on the parts of the teeth that are visible is called plaque.
Plaque is a major factor of tooth decay and without removal it turns into a hard
deposit called tartar. Plaque is the primary cause of gum disease, however other
factors can contribute to gum disease as well (MedlinePlus n. pag.).
Other factors that contribute to gum disease are plaque induced gingivitis, drug
induced gingivitis, and gingivitis due to vitamin deficiency, gingivitis due to
infections, gingivitis due to pregnancy, gingivitis due to menopause, gingivitis due to
leukemia, and gingivitis due to an impacted tooth (Pericoronitis). The most common
cause of gingivitis is plaque induced gingivitis which is from lack of brushing and
flossing. When different drugs cause gum tissue to overgrow, so that eliminating
plaque becomes nearly impossible and sometimes develops gingivitis it is called
drug induced gingivitis. Another cause of gingivitis, in rare cases, is vitamin
deficiencies. Many small white or yellow sores that form inside the mouth and the
color of the gums
The Russian Revolution Of 1905
The Russian Revolution of 1905 comes as the late tsarism period. Some of the
major causes to the Russian revolution were caused by long term and short term
effects. Some of these major effects were Russia s rapid industrialization and
modernization which had inherent problems. The rise of capitalism led to an
increase of inequality between the classes. In addition, the mistakes of the Russo
Japanese war emerged upon the boundaries of the Russian political climate. These
series of revolutionary events led to the Tsar of Russiato issue the October Manifesto.
In the October Manifesto, the Tsar conceded powers including the creation of the
Duma, which was a Russian parliament. In this idea, the Duma could pass or reject
all laws proposed by the Tsar. However, the Tsar composed the right to remove and
reestablish the Duma whenever he saw fit, which only caused anger to the people as
the years continued.
The 1905 Russian Revolution was caused by contributory factors such as the long
term and short term problems in Russia. Some long term effects were the growth of
the reformist groups like the social democrats the social revolutionaries and other
liberal groups that had formed around that time. Another long term effect was the
instability of Russia autocratic rule and repression which were characterized in the
reigns of Alexander the III and also in the reign of Nicholas II. However, 1905 is
characterized by two primary short term effects which is the development of the

Introduction
The development and dissemination of bacterial resistance to 3rd generation
cephalosporin antimicrobials is of significant importance to public health and
domestic livestock production alike. The World Health Organization recognizes the
extended spectrum cephalosporin antimicrobials as critically important and their use
in food animal production is coming under increasing scrutiny (1). Reports of
recovery of blaCMY 2 and blaCTX M resistance genes in bacterial isolates from U.S.
livestock, fresh retail meat, and human diagnostic samples represent a potential
pathway for the selection and distribution of cephalosporin resistant pathogens and
subsequent zoonotic infection of humans (2 5).
Background
There is widespread concern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The annual report only contains information on total amount of antimicrobials sold
each year and does not describe food animal species, indication for treatment, dosage,
or route of administration (7). Further, a significant portion of the annual reported
tonnage (28 30%) is made up of the ionophore antimicrobial class, which is not
utilized in human medicine and is not likely to significantly contribute to
antimicrobial resistance of bacteria of public health concern (8). The FDA reported
sales of cephalosporin antimicrobials as 41,328 kg, 24588 kg, and 26,611 kg for the
years 2009, 2010, and 2011 respectively (7).
Figure 1 While the understanding of the contribution of antimicrobial use in CAFOs
to resistant pathogens in human and animal infections is still developing, the
precautionary principle is frequently cited in public health literature. This principle
advocates the cessation of antimicrobial uses in food animal production which could
negatively impact public health and has prompted a multitude of proposed and
enacted regulatory restrictions of antimicrobial use in livestock species in the last two
decades.
The FDA has issued multiple orders restricting the veterinary use of fluoroquinolones
and cephalosporins in food producing animals in response to evidence of increasing
prevalence of antimicrobial resistant bacteria in livestock and humans. These efforts
have commonly targeted the extra label drug usage
Essay On Polymorphisms
Using the whole genome sequence results of 9 cats, non synonymous single
nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in P2RY1, P2RY12, and CYP2C19 genes were
identified (Table 2). Among these SNPs, the p. P479L missense mutation in
CYP2C19 gene on cat chromosome D3.56761959 caused by a cytosine to guanine
(C G) transversion has a high probability of altering proteinmorphology and/or
function predicted by PolyPhen2 with a damaging score of 0.997 (sensitivity: 0.41,
specificity: 0.98). In addition, the p.A236G missense mutation in P2RY1 geneon cat

In humans, patients with the CYP2C19 variant are often classified as decreased
responders to clopidogrel and shows higher platelet activity and aggregation
resulting in the higher risk of developing thromboembolic events such as coronary
artery infarction and stroke (Simon T et al. NEJM 2009, Mega JL et al. Lancet
2010). In addition, one study has reported mutations in the CYP2C19 gene as the
key gene variant that influences the reactivity and pharmacodynamics of
clopidogrel in patients causing clopidogrel resistance (Price MJ et al. J Am Coll
Cardiol 2012). In the present study, cats with HCM frequently possess the p.P479L
missense mutation in the CYP2C19 gene which is predicted to cause low or no
response to clopidogrel therapy in cats. In addition, the p.A236G mutation in the
P2RY1 gene had some probability to cause function modification of the P2Y1 ADP
receptor, and each of the identified polymorphisms are seen in highly conserved
amino acids (Table 3). In human patients with cardiovascular disease, carriers of
mutations in P2Y12 gene had an increased risk for developing thromboembolic
diseases (Ziegler S et al. Stroke 2005). Although the p.V34I missense mutation in the
P2RY12 gene was predicted to be benign, it is still reasonable to further investigate
this mutation in response to the effect on platelet activity with clopdigorel
administration in cats. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is one of the most
common inherited cardiac disease in humans and

  • 2. The King Of The Franks Essay Sabrina Fearon History 8G 4/14/16 Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. William Shakespeare Do you agree/disagree/partially agree that Charlemagne was an example of all three? Clovis, king of the Franks, established the Merovingian Empire in 481. Then, in 511, he split his empire between his four sons. The kings in the Merovingian line continued to hand down their thrones to their later generations, which slowly started to make them weak. This was because they were using nepotism instead of giving positions based on merit. So, after time, positions called Mayors of the Palace were formed. Mayors of the Palace, according to the dictionary, were people of a line of hereditary administrative lieutenants to the Merovingian kings who eventually took over royal function and title in the Frankish kingdoms . Over time, the descendants of Clovis became to be known as Do Nothing kings , because they relied on the Mayors of the Palace to do work. The Do Nothing kings began to have virtually no power, but they still held on to their title as king. One of the most famous Mayors of the Palace was Charles Martel. His son, Pepin became the Frankish king. Pepin s son was Charlemagne. Your home is the place you go to get away from the world, and to relax and put your feet up, or spend time with your family and friends. You want to be reassured that the home you buy is safe and in good condition. A home inspectioncan give you this peace of mind, using a visual inspectionof every aspect of the home both inside and out. This should be done by a professional home inspector who has the education, knowledge, and experience needed to identify problems which may not be readily apparent. There are some questions you should ask any prospective home inspection company, and things to consider, to guarantee you get a thorough and complete inspection. How long has the inspector been doing these inspections? How many home inspections does the inspector do in a year? How much experience does the home inspector have inspecting homes identical to the one you are buying? These questions are important, because without adequate experience the inspector may miss signs of a hidden problem. Choose a home inspection company that exclusively does only home inspections, and does not just practice this as a sideline to their day job. Ask about the reports that will be given, will you get a written report, an oral report, or both? Does the home inspection company have certification? Do they

The ultimate goal for a leader is to fulfill everyone s demand. In order to achieve this goal; a leader must be a sage or at least a very wise man to set up a very extraordinary example for others to learn. Today, over 99% of farm animals in the U.S. are raised in industrialized factory farms, which focus on profit and efficiency as opposed to the animal s welfare. The industry has forgotten the importance of the animals health and wellbeing and has become obsessed with profit to the point that it is negatively impacting the animals in the industry. The food industry needs to be reformed to return the focus of the farms to the animals in order to protect them from cruel and inhumane treatment or practices. The wide open fields that farmanimals used to be raised on are a thing of the past. A positive interaction often yields admiration, love or a sense of support. A negative relationship may yield distrust, animosity or a sense of solitude. Theodore Roethke s poem, My Papa s Waltz, describes the admiration of his hardworking father. The speaker, a young boy, depicts roughhousing with his father in the form of a waltz; expressing his desire to stay up and spend more time together though their relationship is detached. Seamus Heaneys Digging, instills a sense of respect, pride, and a slight affliction for the speaker s choice of the pen over the spade. The speaker has chosen a different path in life than that of his father and grandfather. Although written at different stages in life, both Roethke and Heaney write a poem about their families utilizing vivid imagery to demonstrate the love and pride they felt for these men. In My Papa s Waltz, the speaker, a young boy who is presumably the author, Theodore Roethke, recalls an interaction he once had. His father, who is perhaps a farmer, just arrived from a long day at work, had a drink of whisky and then began playfully roughhousing with the boy in the kitchen while his mother frowned at the pots and pans falling down. His vivid portrayal inserts the reader into their home. Roethke describes his father as a rough, hard working individual: [the] hand that held my wrist [was] battered on one knuckle...

Crude birth rate, crude death rate, natural increase rate, life expectancy and so on. Each of those are methods used by geographers to measure population. Some social factors like the economy, culture, lifestyle and the government contributes in the differences in population. Crude birth rateand life expectancy are the two most important indicators that can help a geographer understand why is there differences in the population. Crude birth rate is an immensely important factor because not in all courtiers a woman is having up to seven children. According to statista Niger is a country with the highest crude birth rate because women are estimated to have 6.76 children per women. However, China has the largest population in the world and in the Washington post it states that China allows couples to only have two children. It is also mentioned that although the government allows couples to have two children most people only have one child. People in China prefer to just have one child because is extremely costly. In the Washington post it indicates that to prepare a child to succeed in the country s competitive schools and workplaces, parents must invest lots of time and money in a child for schooling, extracurricular activities, and outside tutoring, often for college entrance and English proficiency exams . This type of factors makes the difference in population. The economy is not the same around the world and in the countries that are poor women do not health care and that means they can not be put on birth control. Crude birth rate explains why some countries population is bigger than others. If women in some countries are having 5 and more children the population is going be higher than in countries that women are having one child. In this case, China can not be included because although you are allowed to just have two children, China was already over populated and had to come up with the one child policy. I believe that if China stick to just having one child and Niger s

  • 22. Killing Lincoln Is Acclaimed As `` Shocking, And A... Essay Killing Lincoln is acclaimed as shocking and a historical thriller. It makes the reader question, Is it really true? with every turning page. Bill O Reilly claims that everything mentioned is true and unsanitized, so a whole new story is opened to the audience, such as Booth being funded by the Confederate states and the Booth family being closely related to the Lincoln family. However, if everything is true, the question still remains: What is the most significant truth? Many people may refer to the cold hard facts about Lincoln s assassination as the most significant because it is something they were never aware of. One may say, I never knew General Lee and General Grant met before the Civil War! Another might state, I didn t know Robert Todd Lincolnand John Wilkes Booth loved the same girl! However, personally, I believe that the most important truth is something far broader than specific facts. The truth: good will triumph over evil. Killing Lincoln is the story of how Booth killed Lincoln. It is an eerie story, but what makes it even more chilling is the similarities it has to other historical murders. It is one of the many tales of good vs evil. Bill O Reilly, the author, relates Jesus death, Caesar s death, and numerous others to Lincoln s assassination. What they have in common is that though the good guy dies, his presence lives on. Besides the strange coincidence that Lincoln dies at the same time as Jesus (and Caesar), O Reilly

Structure Process And Facility Layout Forms of Transformation Processes used by Companies and Their Relation to the Facility Layout Selecting the most appropriate transformation process and facility layout is one of the keys towards achieving success in the company s performance. In general, there are many forms of transformation processes, and each has particular facility layout. What is more, there are also hybrid combinations of them so the organization can choose the one that best fits its needs and potential. Speaking of the basic forms of transformation systems, there are five of them including job shop, continuous process, cellular production, flow shop, and project (Meredith Shafer, 2013). Job shops are industries that offer a wide range of products and services. They can achieve diversity in possible outputs using departments functionally specializing in one or other good. The specialty of this transformation system is that the departments comprise of identical equipment or involve people with nearly the same set of skills, and the process is carried out on a non stop basis. It also has a peculiar layout that is based on a historically stable output so that it is rarely changed. The second type of transformation system is continuous process. Such industries use a set of materials and equipment and a sequence of processes to produce a final output. Facility layout of this transformation system is usually a set of needed equipment such as assembly lines, tanks, pipes, etc., and low skilled employees

Every ten years after the age of 50 the prevalence of this disease increases exponentially. Many different factors contribute to the development of AMD including genetic, environment, and metabolic functions. Aside from smoking, abnormal blood pressure, and an unhealthy diet low in fruits and vegetables, many more studies are concluding that similar inflammatory and oxidative processes seen in other age related diseases are also playing a key role in the development of AMD. Dry Macular Degeneration: The early and most common form of AMD is called dry (atrophic) or nonneovascular macular degeneration. About 90% of AMD cases are known to be in this form. This form does not involve abnormal blood vessels and or leaking of fluid. Vision impairments are still great and potential of complete vision loss is still possible. People affected by dry AMD experience central vision impairments, limited area of central vision, and limited vision when in areas of reduced light. Dry AMD is thought to be the result of the retina breaking down because of the formation of deposits, known as drusen, under the macula. The macula is a small area within the retina that is responsible for central vision. It s believed that these deposits interfere with vitamin transport, oxygen transport, and waste removal in the aged eye directly affecting the macula causing it to thin and dry out, losing its function. Depending on how severe this thinning and degeneration of the retina is, vision impairments will vary. Macular degeneration in its early stages is associated with minimal vision impairments, large drusen, and other pigmentary abnormalities in the macula. Drusen are deposits of fatty proteins that accumulate below the basement membrane of the retinal pigment epithelium. People over the age of 50 years have at least one small hard drusen in one or both eyes. People with large, soft drusen are the ones at high risk for AMD. Hard

Rain puddled at my feet, soaking the dirt of a thousand walks into my off brand tennis shoes. I usually enjoyed the rain. I liked the feel of walking barefoot in puddles in the grass and the smell of rain mixed with pine trees. Tonight, the air was cool and the rain was crisp against my skin for an early August in South Carolina. I would be out all night, though, so this was completely bad timing. With my toes pointed out to the street, I stood at the edge of the long driveway. A cool wind split through my dark poncho. I wanted to shiver, but I steeled myself and ignored the cold. More specifically, we will be taking seaglass and making it into jewelry and other decorations. The goal of this project is to reduce the amount of marine debris found in the ocean and on the beaches. Reducing marine debris is vital to the economy and ecosystems because it can reduce the number of animal deaths related to marine debris, and it can reduce the amount of marine debris found in the ocean. If marine debris is reduced then the ecosystems won t be as polluted. Eighty percent of marine debris is made up of plasticmaterials. Marine debris comes from four main sources; land based/personally used items, marine industries, container ship spills, and natural disasters. Marine animals and birds can mistake marine debris for food, and if they do swallow/digest the trash then it could lead to internal hemorrhaging, starvation, and choking to death. They can also become entangled in fishing line, plastic loops, nets, and ropes. If this happens then it could cause infection in the animals, drowning, and starvation. So, if the population of a certain species start to decrease, then we would know what was causing it. Our communities are disposing more and more waste every year. In 2008, our global plastic consumption worldwide has been estimated at 260 million tons, and, according to a 2012 report by Global Industry Analysts,

The value of these sequel rights is then compared to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has been calculated to be $4.96M. This value of $4.96M is evidently larger than the $2M paid by Arundel for each individual sequel rights. Optimistic or Pessimistic estimate? With this value of $4.96M as our value for each sequel rights purchased, we are now allowed to compare it with other values of sequel rights to understand if we were too optimistic or pessimistic in our estimate. Driving Miss Daisy, Dead Poets Society and Batman were chosen to be the representative movie sequels with their varied sequel rights values that can be compared to $4.96M. They were chosen because they are all one of the most highly anticipated successful films that can generate sequels. In particular, the PV of these successful sequels will help us determine if we are underpaying or overpaying the current sequel rights for each individual movie. From Appendix 1, it has been determined that the PV of Driving Miss Daisy, Dead Poets Society and Batman are $95.42M, $41.27M and $27.21M respectively. The large magnitude of the PV of these 3 film sequels undermine the relatively smaller $4.96M we calculated earlier. If the studio obtains information that a film is going to be very successful, there is a probability and incentive for them to hold back their production of the initial film so that the sequel contract with Arundel will expire first. This would imply that Arundel may need to pay a higher value for sequel

Indentured servitude was an early solution to the shortage of labor in many parts of the English colonies. It became a central institution in the economy in many parts of colonial British America. In the Southern colonies, indentured servants furnished most of the labor until slavery began to take over. His actual story is revealed through a series of flashbacks. Ogami Itto used to be the executioner to the shogun, one of the highest and most hated positions in the country. However, the underground arm of the Yagyu headed by Yagyu Retsudo plots against him, in order to place a man under their control, in his stead. In their efforts, they have his wife slain by ninjas, and manage to frame Itto, with false accusations about him overusing his authority. However, the executioner manages to escape from their trap along with his son, after killing a number of their men. As he is hunted by the Yagyu with his reputation ... His stentorian voice also gives Itto an added level of respect. On the other hand, Yunosuke Ito plays Yagyu Retsudo with a distinct hyperbole, which highlights the fact that his character is equally evil, cunning, and

It speeds up a reaction, but remains unchanged unless certain limiting factors are introduced. It is composed of polymers of amino acids. An enzyme has an optimum pH and temperature. When an enzymeis at its optimum conditions, the rate of reaction is the fastest. In their globular structure, one or more polypeptide chains twist and fold, bringing together a small number of amino acids to form the active site, or the location on the enzyme where the substrate binds and the reaction takes place. My hypothesis is that the more acidic the milk is the faster it takes for the milk to curdle when renin is added to it. As pH increases, enzyme activity increases until it reaches an optimal point in which enzymes denatures and as pH increases, enzyme activity decreases. Trends in this experiment don t make proper sense due to inaccurate measurements of the temperature of the milk and inaccurate measurement of pH level. Though I can say that at pH level 7 and 11 the time taken for the milk to curdle were really low and close, at pH level 8 the time taken was high and at pH level 9 no result was taken maybe because the enzyme doesn t function the at this particular pH level. In conclusion my hypothesis was correct, the more acidic the milk the faster the time it takes for the milk to curdle. Due to inaccurate measurement, correct results might not have been obtained thus impacted on our results. Marketing Management Article on How to Assess Market Viability of New Products Surveyor of the Fittest [pic] BY HONGJUN (HJ) LI With the correct methodology, companies can effectively assess what market is viable and what market is not. Industry research shows that 75% of new product launches fail in the marketplace (visit www.microsoft.com to read its sec tion about new product development performance). That number does not even include product concepts that never successfully enter the market. There are many reasons for such failures, but lack of market demand for new products introduced is definitely the most important one. Edwards Eric Deatherage Phil 202 5 November 2017 Eating Away Your Endocrine System In 1954, the FDA approved growth stimulating hormones for use in the general public, creating an opportunity to make that dream an unsettling reality (FDA 1). Not only were these synthetic drugs encouraged as a supplement during human pregnancies, but for use in livestock as well (CDC 1). Aiding in the conversion of feed to fat in animals, dramatically increasing the rate of growth, artificial growth hormones seemed like the cattleman s miracle elixir. However, in 1971, the FDA banned the use of DES (diethylstilbestrol, synthetic estrogen) in humans, which was the primary growth hormone available for human consumption (CDC 1). Use of DES in ... The mothers themselves were subjected to a massive increase in the possibility of breast cancer (DES History 1 5). There is no test available that will predict exposure to DES. There was no possible way to contact every DES prescribed family, and there was no cures offering a miracle reverse (DES History 1 5). Fear not, it was banned for human use; fear, it has since gained popularity in the cattle growing business. Yes, this cancer causing compound is still used in beef cattle today. One would venture to assume that the FDA would have banned this substance entirely, as it is a dangerous drug, though there was far too much of a market for the drugs using DES in the cattle industry. The cattle were, and still are, injected intravenously with a nice portion of synthetic hormones. The concentration is so high around the area of injection that they are forced to cut that part off before butchering (usually behind the back of the ear; don t eat hot dogs) (FDA). Using scientific data, the FDA establishes acceptable safe limits for hormones in meat, meaning that the hormones are literally embedded in the tissues of the animal, the tissues that consumers ingest (FDA 3). The FDA claims that people are not at risk by gobbling up a helping of
  • 48. Symptoms, Causes, Prevention, and Treatment of Gingivtis... Gingivitis is a type of periodontal disease and is when the gums are inflamed. The gums in the teeth destroy the tissues because of the inflammation and infection known as periodontal disease (MedlinePlus n. pag.). Gingivitis typically precedes periodontitis but it is important to understand that not all gingivitisprogresses to periodontitis ( Gum Disease n. pag.). Most of the time gingivitis is from not brushing and flossing which may lead to the use of certain drugs and source of medical disorders. When the gums turn red, swollen, and start bleeding it is usually the sign of the common disease, gingivitis. Gingivitis is sometimes not detected and barely causes any pain in the beginning stages. Nevertheless, gingivitis that is not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just because there are no noticeable symptoms of gingivitis that does not mean it is not there. In certain people, gum disease may affect only certain teeth, such as the molars, only a dentist or a periodontist can identify and decide the progression of gum disease ( Gum Disease n. pag.). Above all, the effect of long standing plaque deposits is what causes gingivitis. A sticky material made of bacteria, mucus, and food debris that grows on the parts of the teeth that are visible is called plaque. Plaque is a major factor of tooth decay and without removal it turns into a hard deposit called tartar. Plaque is the primary cause of gum disease, however other factors can contribute to gum disease as well (MedlinePlus n. pag.). Other factors that contribute to gum disease are plaque induced gingivitis, drug induced gingivitis, and gingivitis due to vitamin deficiency, gingivitis due to infections, gingivitis due to pregnancy, gingivitis due to menopause, gingivitis due to leukemia, and gingivitis due to an impacted tooth (Pericoronitis). The most common cause of gingivitis is plaque induced gingivitis which is from lack of brushing and flossing. When different drugs cause gum tissue to overgrow, so that eliminating plaque becomes nearly impossible and sometimes develops gingivitis it is called drug induced gingivitis. Another cause of gingivitis, in rare cases, is vitamin deficiencies. Many small white or yellow sores that form inside the mouth and the color of the gums

Some of the major causes to the Russian revolution were caused by long term and short term effects. Some of these major effects were Russia s rapid industrialization and modernization which had inherent problems. The rise of capitalism led to an increase of inequality between the classes. In addition, the mistakes of the Russo Japanese war emerged upon the boundaries of the Russian political climate. These series of revolutionary events led to the Tsar of Russiato issue the October Manifesto. In the October Manifesto, the Tsar conceded powers including the creation of the Duma, which was a Russian parliament. In this idea, the Duma could pass or reject all laws proposed by the Tsar. However, the Tsar composed the right to remove and reestablish the Duma whenever he saw fit, which only caused anger to the people as the years continued. The 1905 Russian Revolution was caused by contributory factors such as the long term and short term problems in Russia. Some long term effects were the growth of the reformist groups like the social democrats the social revolutionaries and other liberal groups that had formed around that time. Another long term effect was the instability of Russia autocratic rule and repression which were characterized in the reigns of Alexander the III and also in the reign of Nicholas II. However, 1905 is characterized by two primary short term effects which is the development of the

Introduction The development and dissemination of bacterial resistance to 3rd generation cephalosporin antimicrobials is of significant importance to public health and domestic livestock production alike. The World Health Organization recognizes the extended spectrum cephalosporin antimicrobials as critically important and their use in food animal production is coming under increasing scrutiny (1). Reports of recovery of blaCMY 2 and blaCTX M resistance genes in bacterial isolates from U.S. livestock, fresh retail meat, and human diagnostic samples represent a potential pathway for the selection and distribution of cephalosporin resistant pathogens and subsequent zoonotic infection of humans (2 5). Background There is widespread concern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The annual report only contains information on total amount of antimicrobials sold each year and does not describe food animal species, indication for treatment, dosage, or route of administration (7). Further, a significant portion of the annual reported tonnage (28 30%) is made up of the ionophore antimicrobial class, which is not utilized in human medicine and is not likely to significantly contribute to antimicrobial resistance of bacteria of public health concern (8). The FDA reported sales of cephalosporin antimicrobials as 41,328 kg, 24588 kg, and 26,611 kg for the years 2009, 2010, and 2011 respectively (7). Figure 1 While the understanding of the contribution of antimicrobial use in CAFOs to resistant pathogens in human and animal infections is still developing, the precautionary principle is frequently cited in public health literature. This principle advocates the cessation of antimicrobial uses in food animal production which could negatively impact public health and has prompted a multitude of proposed and enacted regulatory restrictions of antimicrobial use in livestock species in the last two decades. The FDA has issued multiple orders restricting the veterinary use of fluoroquinolones and cephalosporins in food producing animals in response to evidence of increasing prevalence of antimicrobial resistant bacteria in livestock and humans. These efforts have commonly targeted the extra label drug usage

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In humans, patients with the CYP2C19 variant are often classified as decreased responders to clopidogrel and shows higher platelet activity and aggregation resulting in the higher risk of developing thromboembolic events such as coronary artery infarction and stroke (Simon T et al. NEJM 2009, Mega JL et al. Lancet 2010). In addition, one study has reported mutations in the CYP2C19 gene as the key gene variant that influences the reactivity and pharmacodynamics of clopidogrel in patients causing clopidogrel resistance (Price MJ et al. J Am Coll Cardiol 2012). In the present study, cats with HCM frequently possess the p.P479L missense mutation in the CYP2C19 gene which is predicted to cause low or no response to clopidogrel therapy in cats. In addition, the p.A236G mutation in the P2RY1 gene had some probability to cause function modification of the P2Y1 ADP receptor, and each of the identified polymorphisms are seen in highly conserved amino acids (Table 3). In human patients with cardiovascular disease, carriers of mutations in P2Y12 gene had an increased risk for developing thromboembolic diseases (Ziegler S et al. Stroke 2005). Although the p.V34I missense mutation in the P2RY12 gene was predicted to be benign, it is still reasonable to further investigate this mutation in response to the effect on platelet activity with clopdigorel administration in cats. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is one of the most common inherited cardiac disease in humans and
