Death Penalty Argumentative Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Death Penalty: Argumentative Essay" is undeniably a
challenging endeavor that requires a delicate balance of facts, emotions, and ethical
considerations. This subject is inherently complex, delving into moral, legal, and societal
dimensions, demanding a thorough exploration of both sides of the argument.
One of the primary difficulties lies in navigating the intricate web of emotions associated with
the death penalty. This topic sparks intense feelings, ranging from a strong sense of justice to
profound moral reservations. As a writer, addressing these emotions while maintaining
objectivity is no easy feat. Striking the right tone is crucial to ensure the essay respects differing
perspectives and fosters a nuanced understanding of the issue.
Furthermore, the death penalty is deeply entrenched in legal and ethical debates, requiring
extensive research to comprehend the multifaceted aspects of its application. Analyzing judicial
decisions, ethical frameworks, and international perspectives adds layers of complexity to the
essay. Formulating a well-reasoned argument demands a meticulous examination of statistics,
case studies, and legal precedents, requiring a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Moreover, constructing a compelling argumentative essay necessitates the ability to counter
opposing viewpoints effectively. Anticipating and refuting counterarguments while maintaining
the coherence of the essay challenges the writer to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the
subject matter.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the death penalty is an intricate task that demands careful
consideration of emotional, legal, and ethical aspects. Successfully navigating these complexities
requires a blend of research, empathy, and critical thinking. For those seeking assistance, various

Stop Slavery Award
For the first time at the Trust Women Conference, the Thomson Reuters
Foundation has given the Stop Slavery Award. The main goal is to recognize
companies that have taken concrete steps to eradicate forced labor from their
supply chains. The event took place last Wednesday, November 30th in London
and this year s winners are NXP and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). This
recognition is an action resulted from last year s conference, in the discussions
and panels, and intend to be a way of showing the corporations that they have an
important role to play when referring to human rights. The award gives the
company an Anish Kapoor sculpture and the right to use the Stop Slavery Award
logo for a year. The award was separated into two different categories: Policy
Implementation and Transparency Response to Challenges. The winner of the first
category is NXP, a 6.1 million dollars annual revenue Dutch company. The
corporation was unanimously chosen by the board due to their anti slavery actions,
such as having their board directors and CEO signing off on all human traffic
policies and major activities, training over 300 suppliers in their facilities in
Malaysia and establishing a maximum of work hours per week within all their supply

The Failure Of The Insurrectionary Movement
The Failure of the Insurrectionary Movement, 1837 1839
Canada has always been under a capitalist ruling regime for many years. The
Canadian state, even as a colony of both England and France, went through
mercantilist monopolistic practices that affected the lower working classes. During
this period, the Church was powerful and was involved in the formulation of power.
The state was fully supported by the Church and gained its wealth through illegal
means with major benefits going to the aboriginal Canadian citizens. The rebellion or
uprising was aimed at fighting capitalist regime introduced by foreigners, addressing
high poverty levels and ensuring equitable distribution of resources among the
Canadian citizens. This paper will explore the sharing of power between the citizens,
Church, and government during the insurrectionary movement.
The author suggests that the Canadian natives are suffering in many ways in the
hands of foreigners. The capitalist regime is taking everything from the natives and
suffer huge monetary loss due to the high taxes. The natives cry foul of intruders who
have taken control of everything including robbing the exchequer and carrying their
proceeds to their home countries. Imperialism is the main argument that the author
tries to bring out in this case. The foreigners exploited Canada s natural resources at
the expense of the local citizens. Local citizens provided cheap labor and products to
Europeans.
The author claims that the natives were

Characteristics Of An Organization As A Mechanical Image
Introduction
The overall structure of various types of organizations can be framed by using
metaphorical images, which help to clarify the way that organizations operate.
Morgan (2006) discusses several of these metaphorical images, including the image of
an organization as a machine and the image of an organization as an organism. Each
image is unique, but there are some similarities and many differences between the
two. In order to understand each image meaningfully, the two images will be
introduced, explained, compared, and contrasted in this paper. A personal perspective
follows this, outlining which image would be chosen if only one image were
available as the single way to structure an organization.
The Mechanical Image The theory of an organization as a mechanical image supports
the idea that organizations should be managed as specialized, separate parts that
contribute to a larger goal within the organization. There are several defining
characteristics associated with the mechanical image of organization. A mechanical
organization typically has a structure that is characterized as bureaucratic, with a
rigid system of hierarchical management. According to Weber (1947), who was at
the forefront of explaining hierarchical organizations, each lower office is under the
control and supervision of a higher one, and there is a right of appeal and of
statement of grievances from the lower to the higher (p. 221). This type of top down
management, often defined in
Convolutional Neural System Essay

Sugar Plantation Worker Research Paper
Life can get hard and things can go wrong, but no matter what, you ve got to stay
strong. This is how life works for the sugar plantation worker or laborer. The first
sugar plantation were started at 1830s. However the sugar plantation was so large
they needed more people to work on them. There wasn t enough Hawaiian s to
work for them and the Hawaiian s didn t like to work for about 8 10 hours just for
a little pay. So they import some workers to come here in Hawaii. The migrants
worked under a contract, if they broke the contract they would sent them into prison.
So they had no choice but to worked at the plantation. They worked all day at the
sun so they could provide food and necessities for their family. They woke up early in
the morning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Twice a month the workers were paid, they get low paid based on their ethnic
background. Different races receive different wages for the same work they do.
The Chinese get paid $3 a month, Japanese get 99 cents a day, Filipino get 69 cents
a day. They were also charged for passage, food, clothing and housing. How can
they earn and save money if they always need to pay for their expenses. They re
getting paid and not their treated like a slave.
Lastly, the working conditions the workers had to deal with the sun burning their
skin on the field all day. After the workers ate breakfast in the morning they hike to
the fields for a long day of back breaking labor. Working at the field last about 8 10
hours. As for working at the mills it would last for 12 hours. The work was
tedious, and painful. Workers who stripped the cane of its sharp edged leaves went
home each afternoon with cut and blistered hands. They also had to deal wasps that
infested the fields. After all they had 30 min break, they had time to drink water and
eat snack before going back to work again.
In conclusion, working on the sugar plantation was tough because of the working
conditions, low pay scale, and ethnic segregation. After all, the workers never gave
up even if the worked was tough. Life before was not easy as today the laborer or
workers came to Hawaii so they can give their family a better

Transcendentalism In Movies Essay
Perhaps one of the most meaningful maxims Emerson wrote would have to be
quot;Insist on yourself, never imitate. quot; This statement captures the total essence
of transcendentalism; deny the will and aspirations of others, and follow your own
heart. The movie Dead Poets Society begins by introducing the viewers to Todd
Anderson, a very subdued and quiet young man. Todd has the average inferiority
complex. He is a very bright young man with exceptional abilities. Todd is unwilling
to speak his mind for fear of non acceptance. Charles Dalton is a seemingly average
student with a rebellious attitude. He has already realized that the students are being

stemming from a traumatic childhood. Will knows his gift, but is afraid to use it.
He has finally found a peaceful life with his friends. He has a steady job, and life isn

Will s friend, played by real life friend Ben Affleck, helps him choose between
risking his security and stepping out of his comfort zone and living a life where he
can barely get by. Will realizes that the benefits outweigh the negatives, and chooses
to take a job at a huge accounting firm.In the movie Patch Adams, Robin Williams
plays a doctor with a keen perception of humanity. He focuses on the plight of
people who can t afford medical care. Throughout medical school and all of his
private practice, patch is ridiculed and mistreated for his beliefs and his unorthodox
means of treatment. Even through all this turmoil, Patch never succumbs to the
wishes of others. He is always himself. Individuality is quite possibly the most

Evolution Of Photography
The history, evolution, and modern advancements of photography, and how it has
changed the way the world communicates. The world used to communicate in paper
and pen, but now there are cameras. People communicate with YouTube, Instagram,
Snapchat, and Facebook. The whole world has been changed in ways of
communication, art, and technology. The first cameras to the current cameras. The
history is the best part of photography.
Not many people know how photography started, and nobody knows who thought of
and created the camera. The box form of Camera Obscura shown at the right was
invented by Johann Zahn in 1685. This example is in the historical apparatus
collection at Transylvania University, and is of the form used by William Henry Fox

The good things that come out of photography come from special moments, like
capturing a blind man see for the first time in over thirty years, or a little boy being
baptized in a Muslim country. There are also very bad things about photography.
People tend to abuse their right to use cameras. Many people take inappropriate
pictures and film inappropriate videos. For example: people film pornography,
which is a sin. Matthew 5:27 28 states You have heard that it was said, You shall
not commit adultery ; 28 but I say to you, that everyone who looks on a woman to
lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Matthew 5:27
28) also since pornography is a sin, Titus 3:1 7 states; Remind them to be
submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good
work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect
courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led
astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and
envy, hated by others and hating one another. He saved us, not because of works
done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of
regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly
through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become
heirs according to

In 2005, five years after Tolemite had received its patent, a research chemist at CKC
had, quite independently, discovered a very similar process for synthesizing Varacil.
The CKC researchers, however, had not felt that the new processing techniques could
be patented. Thus, no patent search had been initiated and production facilities had
simply been converted to the new process. At the time, no one at CKC had suspected
the degree to which its new process was similar to the one originated by Tolemite
and covered by Tolemite s process patent. It was with some surprise then that CKC
management learned that it was being sued by Tolemite and BARD for patent
infringement.1 Varacil
Varacil was a chemical substance sold almost exclusively to pharmaceutical
manufacturers.
Although it appeared in a variety of drug preparations, it represented only a minor
fraction of any one drug. The economics of its manufacture (high fixed and low
variable costs plus economies of scale), however, suggested that it be made in long,
high volume runs. Thus the major drug companies themselves were not involved in
its preparation.
Before 2000, Varacil had been processed from naturally occurring organic chemicals
found in animal tissue. As a result of the high cost of these natural chemicals, the cost
of Varacil itself had been relatively high. With the advent of synthetic Varacil, this
situation changed dramatically.

The Impact Of Implementation Of Relation Social...
In this thesis we have analyzed the effects of implementation of Relation Social
Intelligence (RSI), in Chinese firm. A qualitative literature analysis review was
performed in order to understand the main reasons why employees are looking for
new opportunities. We started from a high level analysis which was involving the
entire word wild job market narrowing down step by step to China reality. In this
prospective aspects related to Chinese`s core value are also analyzed. As described in
the thesis, they are important aspects which should be kept under consideration when
we start the implementation of RSI. As reported in literature there are several reasons
which might influence the employee`s decision to change their job and those reasons
might be related to personal, environmental and or cultural aspects. Those aspects
where considered during the implementation of Relation Systemic Intelligence in
China in pharmaceutical company. A transition from strong hierarchyleadership style
to a more social decision making style (RSI), was analyzed based on real data
collected on productivity, quality, hiring cost and percent of employee voluntary
turnover. Appropriate sets of data were collected during the period of initiation and
transition (2013 to 2016), the data were analyzed using regression fit analysis in
order to evaluate the correlation between variables.

Music Analysis Of The Film Music Of King Kong 1933
Terrance Mesadieu
Music Analysis
King Kong 1933 King Kong is the perfect example of the early development of
motion picture music in the twentieth century. The music was not only essential to
the film, but musical scores also made the film better for the audience. Clever
composers created a true musical drama; Max Steiner was known for his musical
ability including films like Gone with the Wind. Steiner spent a lot of amount on the
music of film King Kong 1933. The music meant everything to that picture, and the
picture meant everything to RKO, because it saved the studio from bankruptcy.... The
impact of King Kong on the movie going public was astonishing. It emerged into a
country frightened, impoverished, in the grip of the Great Depression. The main
instrument used in the film music was orchestra which was perfectly aligned with
the theme of characters in the film at various points. Steiner developed the music
in the symphonic fashion which allowed the film to hit a high score musically and
became a symphonic fashion. The usage of the cycle of operas was brilliant with a
soothing tune to the ears. The Main Title music opens with King Kong s three note
motive; heard throughout the entire score in many sections and guises, but always
identifying King Kong himself. The film has a fifty foot giant that depicted a lot
of terror to the audience which was facilitated by music; the main title continues
with the stolen love of the heroine of the movie. Ann Darrow played the heroine
who was saved dramatically by the king kong, and she fell in love with him. Her
love for her lifesaver and her further development of the relationship with the
gorilla was the core of music and the film. The jungle dance was a faster tune with
continuous rhythm, while after the jungle dance, music became much softer,
romantic and lush. The entrance of the Kong was a long sequence which was
created by Steiner in an orchestral tradition. Viola and Celesta players were given a
few notes to play quickly along with some violence in some passages. The recording
and the whole thing had a great feeling about it; the natives there was a 2 phase
theme which opened like an Indian descending line. Each of the themes including love

Value Chain for Competitive Advantage
Corporate and operational managers strive to create more value by optimizing the
supply chain activities. Optimization of supply chain activities means competition
from other firms, primarily on cost efficiency. However, optimization of supply chain
activities alone cannot always yield a source of competitive advantage. This is for the
simple reason that value chain not only seeks to do away with the activities that do
not add value, but establishes the importance of other support activities, including
infrastructure, technology, and so on, that play a vital role in providing the
foundation for competitive advantage. Value chain s primary activities are similar to
the primary functions of the supply chain. Where supply chain focuses on... Show

The objective of this paper is twofold. This paper initially provides a thorough
understanding of the value chain as introduced by Porter (1985) with a brief
theoretical review, built on the author s previous research. With this, a basic
theoretical perspective may be formed for subsequent analysis. This paper also
strives to provide a comprehension towards modification of value chain and ways
to move up the value chain to achieve competitive advantage, using the complex
adaptive systems theory and using the same through grounded theory methodology
by taking on the author s earlier findings of value chain on the Chinese company:
Li and Fung and his current effort to map the value chain on the Indian company:
Infosys. Justification of Research: Value Chain for Strategy? As outlined in my
earlier research, Porter s work on value chain stems from his efforts to take his
lessons of Competitive Strategy (Porter, 1980) forward, and provides a prescription
for Competitive Advantage (Porter, 1985). There are two generic strategies cost
advantage and differentiation with the focus on broad or narrow market, differing the
mix and value chain is seen as the model that throws up the opportunities for
implementing such strategies. With every pointer towards value chain and the
definition of the same not clearly stated by Porter (Porter, 1985), it becomes
imperative not only to understand the value chain but also to see how it provides the

Foundation of Yin yang and Its Application on Traditional Chinese Medicine
In Chinese philosophy, the symbol yin yang represents the two complementary forces
that make up all aspects and phenomena of life. It describes how opposite forces are
actually interconnected and interdependent in the natural world. The origin of yin
and yang came from the observation of nature and the environment. Yin referred to
the shady side of a slope while yang referred to the sunny side. The concept of yin
yang lies at the origins of many branches of classical Chinese science and
philosophy, as well as being a primary guideline of Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM), and a central principle of different forms of Chinese martials arts and
exercise, such as baguazhang, taijiquan (t ai chi), and qigong (Chi Kung) and of I
Ching divination. The most common form of yin yang symbol is в Ї, i.e., in
harmony, the two sides are depicted as the light and dark halves of a circle.
The earliest Chinese characters for yin and yang are found in inscriptions made on
skeletal remains of various animals, commonly known as oracle bones , used in
ancient Chinese divination practices at least as early as the 14th century B.C.E. In
these inscriptions, yin and yang are descriptions of natural phenomena such as
weather conditions, especially the movement of the sun. Yang is the sunlight during
the day and lack of sunlight at night is yin. The concept of yin yang came into the
light around 770 B.C.E.,

Calvin Klein s recent ads depicting a shirtless Justin Bieber are detrimental to
young boys and adolescents whom are looking for what it means to be a man. For
instance, the intended audience for this piece is young men ages 15 22, this is
evident because the model, Justin Bieber, is in this age group and is wearing clothes
that an individual in that demographic would wear. Calvin Klein takes advantage of
this target demographic by portraying a photo shopped image of Justin Bieber and
entitling it, I glow in my Calvin Klein s. Thus, presenting the idea to adolescent males
that they could look just like this computer generated image if they purchase Calvin
Klein s products. Unfortunately, it is next to impossible for ... Show more content on

Tobago Essay
The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has decided to construct a new school at
the beginning of the year 2016. This is due as the island is ranked sixty fourth
(64th) in the Global Education Index (United Nations Development Programme
2013) and there is a drive to increase the island s global ranked by the Education
Ministry of Trinidad and Tobago. As a result, they have authorized a formal report to
determine potential sites that the school can be built on in which official bodies will
investigate further. To accomplish this goal, applications of Geographic Information
Systems were utilized to assess land suitability in Trinidad with several criteria
provided by the Government along with relevant data sources. Several areas
throughout the western coast of Trinidad with potential/ideal sites were discovered.
Introduction
According to the World Bank, the twin island s population is 1.354 million in
2014 and is increasing by 0.3% per year. As a result of slow population increase
there are several issues which would arise such as food security and environmental
degradation. The Education sector of a country is important and plays a vital role in
the development the general population. Investing in the island s education system is
essential for reducing inequality and poverty. Thus, the government of Trinidad and
Tobago would like to expand the sector as education is a fundamental part in the
development of its people. The government would like to develop a

The Effects of Genetic and Environmental Factors on Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder, in which the pancreas does not produce
insulin. It usually begins in childhood or adolescence. In Type 1 diabetes, the body s
immune system destroys beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. Insulin is a
hormone that converts sugar, starches, and food into energy. Without insulin, blood
glucose levels become too high, which is known as hyperglycemia. To prevent
hyperglycemia, people with Type 1 diabetes must take insulin daily to survive.
Genetic and environmental factors affect the onset of Type 1 diabetes. [1] According
to the American Diabetes Association, a predisposition to Type 1 diabetes is... Show

The research on the affect of viruses in triggering Type 1 diabetes is inconclusive,
and some is even contradictory. Some researchers have also found that viruses may
prevent Type 1 diabetes. Scientists at Joslin Diabetes Center add trauma as a
potential trigger of Type 1 diabetes. A traumatic event, such as a body trauma or a
car crash, increases the body s insulin requirement and strains the pancreas. [5] Dr.
James H. Warram at the Joslin Diabetes Center concluded that the trauma does not
cause diabetes, but it can trigger the onset of the disease.
Another possible environmental cause of Type 1 diabetes is early diet.
Breastfeeding for at least three months has shown to decrease the risk of Type 1
diabetes, and a diet including cow s milk before the age of one year old may
increase the risk of diabetes. The American Diabetes Association reports that the
onset of Type 1 diabetes occurs more often in winter than in summer. It is also
more prevalent in cold climates. This leads researchers to conclude that cold
weather may be a possible trigger of Type 1 diabetes, as well. [6] Dr. Andrew Weil
(2014) explains that in addition, Weather has an impact on eating and exercise habits,
which can in turn influence how well you re able to control your blood sugar.
(drweil.com, 2014) The phenotype for Type 1 diabetes includes the presence of
autoantibodies in the body. [7] These autoantibodies prevent the pancreas from

The United Nations And The Nations
Here is a task truly of, by and for the world, one that should rally nations. The nature
of this task however, must be clearly understood; only then can suitable means for
accomplishing it be formulated, only then can the role that the United Nations could
and should play be appreciated ( Wilcox/Haviland, 29). There are many international
organizations that have been talked about throughout this semester. One of the most
important ones is The United Nations. The United Nations was established October
24, 1945, and has since then been impacting the country. The United Nations main
purpose according to the lecture notes is to provide a global additional structure
through which states can sometimes settle conflicts with less reliance on the use
of force , for whole purpose of the United Nations is to provide the globe a forum
by which countries may settle disputes through this forum peacefully as opposed
to relying on a force which has been the case historically ( Kopalyan, Module 8).
Thus meaning The United Nations was set up to handle problems peacefully rather
than going to war to try and solve problems. Powerful economic as well as political
forces are at work to bring about a growing integration of the world community, and
the United Nations and its related agencies are uniquely fitted to assist in the task
(Wilcox/Haviland,45). This was some of the reason that the United Nations was
created.
There are four reasons that the United Nations was fit for

Active Directory Management Tools
The Bottom Line
The Active Directory administrative tools simplify directory service administration.
You can use the standard tools or, use Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to
create custom tools that focus on single management tasks or to combine several
tools into one console.
When you install Active Directory Directory Services on a Windows Server 2008
or Windows Server 2008 R2, you will find the following tools on the Administrative
Tools menu: * Active Directory Users and Computers. Used to create, configure and
manage objects in Active Directory such as users, groups, computers and
organizational units. * Active Directory Domains and Trusts. Used to manage
domains, domain trust relationships, domain trees and forests. * Active Directory
Sites and Services. Used to create and configure and manage sites and subnets. It is
also used to manage replication between domain controllers. * Group Policy
Management Console GPMC). A single console that allows you to view and manage
GPOs across sites, domains and organizational units.
Another tool found on Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 domain controllers is the
Active Directory Schema. Unlike the previously mentioned MMC snap ins, the
Active Directory Schema snap in is not available on the Administrative Tools.
Instead, you have to manually install Active Directory Schema and create a MMC for

being away, she is at last freed from the burden of war.
PART TWO
Burdens of War In reading Anwar Ridhwan s After the War , a reader can clearly
tell the topic of this story is about the burdens of war, how it affects a woman s life
when the war is over. This paper will discuss thoroughly on the protagonist,
Masitah, what burdens she had to bear after the war and the author s style in writing
the story. We will see that Anwar Ridhwan used the flashback style to tell this story
as the actual story only happens in a day (Jali preparing to go to Tokyo) but Masitah
s memory tells us more on what actually happened during the war. Masitah is the
main character of this story. It started off with Masitah finished bathing at the well in
the present time. She had a terrible fear because during the war she was raped by a
Japanese soldier at that very place and time. But there was no specific indication
that stated a Japanese soldier whom actually raped her during the war. Subsequently,
as we read along, it does prove that the man is a Japanese soldier because of the war
during that time, Jali s complexion and Masitah s depression

I Am Studying For New Degree
Ten years passed, now I m studying for new degree in U.S. While I m living in
another city with my family, but I have never forgotten my high school. This
summer, I went back to my country to visit my grandparent and travel. I promised
with myself go back to visit my high school, that I could find on my childhood that
my childhood associated with high school, where I considered my second home.
In the afternoon, I rode on the bike around these streets, and my city changed a lots.
The coffee shop in the streets, where I went to school everyday disappeared, but the
trees in the street side still there. My wheels were rolling on the road, and I seemed
back to my childhood. The entrance of high school was bigger and too wide. The
new doors are controlled by electronically replaced for the iron doors. The old
fences changed the white high walls. My heart suddenly became troubled.
Entering the school door, a protector, who older than me required me to stop. I told
that I was an old student of school, and I want to visit my school. He looked me and
didn t believe me. Suddenly, a young teacher came out, she was the same of my
age, and her body was graceful. On her face, a sharp very familiar appeared on my
mind. The guard shouted loudly: Is she Minh Trang? Let s me help you to find a
park for your motorcycle! I suddenly realized that she was my old friend and
shouted: Minh Trang, huh? I m Tu Anh! I learned that the same class 11A. Do you

The Greek Hero
In today s society, our image of hero is drastically altered than the image it once
used to be. In fact, the very first heroes that existed were the Greek gods. The
Ancient Greeks shaped their gods from the image of their own people, because they
believed that no creature could better represent themselves, as well as humans could.
Therefore, the Greeks took the best human traits and created their gods reflecting the
same qualities, and praised them as their heroes. But as time went on people have
forgotten the true human image of a hero. We began to stereotype heroes as someone
with super powers and muscles who saves the city and rescues the damsel in
distress. Because of the impractical standards of a hero that we have created, today
s society banishes the allowance ordinary people from the achievement of heroism.
But in our families, communities, schools, cities, there are many people that
deserve the title of a hero. And one person who I believe is a hero, is Lori
Mountcastle. Reflecting the qualities of heroes like Pyramus, Thisbe, and Theseus,
Lori Mountcastle is one that through her unwavering love for others, defies the
standards that society sets for her. Like Pyramus and Thisbe, Lori Mountcastle
resembles the qualities of a true heroine because of the eternal love and care she
shares with those near and dear to her. Pyramus and Thisbe share a love so strong
that helps them push all boundaries and defeat all obstacles. They disregarded the
limits that
Modello Summary
Critical Review Considering that Modello is based on a true story and using
interviews from the actual residents and those that helped them I think that very
little in this book is based on speculation. While there are some opinions of how
others are thinking or what they are doing that can be considered speculation it is
usually followed up with an interview portion with the person to get their actual
thoughts and behaviors. I think that Jack does a good job of providing supporting
evidence in this book and through various updates in the editions he has kept the
reader up to date with any changes that may have occurred. I particularly enjoyed the
last section covering Hurricane Andrew because I think it outlines resiliency in
action. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would recommend it to other people who need to be encouraged in various ways.
Perhaps it is a burnt out therapist who feels that they are not helping people at all, or
a person who can identify with one of the resident s in the book. Every person in this
book showed resiliency, not just the Modello residents. The people who were helping
the residents at one time or another experienced a setback and they used the training
they had and the people around them to bounce back. When Hurricane Andrew hit,
many of the women that were highlighted in this book used the three principles to
help them get through the storm and be thankful for living through it. They used
what they learned in Modello to become resilient and through that training they
taught others how they can be resilient too. Through this book I even learned that
the resiliency of my childhood and adolescences isn t lost, it s still there when I need
it. I just don t think about it anymore just like the ladies in Modello didn t think about
it when they were using it after Hurricane
A Midsummer Night s Dream Compare And Contrast
In A Midsummer Night s Dream Puck and Bottom are different in many ways
including the way they behave, their sense of humour, and how they deal with their
problems. Puck may be considered a protagonist because he is the character who puts
the remedy on Lysander s eyes and corrects the love problems with the Athenian
lovers. Puckmakes the mistake by putting the love potion on Lysander s eyes, making
him fall in love with Helena, forgetting Hermia. This causes problems because
Hermia is still in love with Lysander and Demetrius is in love with Hermia. Like
every protagonist, Puck fixes his mistakes and makes everything rights again. He
does this by putting the love potion on Demetrius eyes and he then falls in love with
Helena. He chases... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the ground, sleep sound, I ll apply, to your eye, gentle lover, remedy (III.ii.461
65). When the lovers wake in the morning Helena and Demetrius are in love and
Hermia and Lysander are in love. Unlike Puck, Bottom deals with his problems
with the craftsman by trying to be better than them rather than helping them. Puck
s spirit is very lively and humorous when he messes up he watches the outcome and
laughs at it. For example, when he applies the potion to the wrong eyes he says
Believe my King of Shadows, I mistook... and so far am I glad it so did sort, as this
their jangling I esteem a sport (III.ii.363 4). This shows how his spirit dominates
the play because Puck enjoys to interact with others while Bottom thinks he is the
best at everything and does not need the other craftsmen. The comedy surrounding
Puck differs from Bottom because Puck s sense of humour is more sophisticated
than Bottom s. An example of Bottom s sense of humour is when he uses the
incorrect verb when he is performing the play for the lovers. I see a voice. Now will
I to the chink, to spy an I can hear my Thisbe s face (V.i.186 7). An example of Puck
s sense of humour is when he turned Bottom into an ass. This is more sophisticated
because Bottom does not realize that he has been turned into an ass. It is also a
metaphor for Bottom s attitude towards the other
Symbolism In The Invisible Man
1. The chief difference between Wyeth s painting and Wall s photography is that the
former acts as a complement to aid the readers understanding of the general story,
while the latter acts as that of the protagonists life, in the point of view of the
protagonist (in this case,) himself. As the text says, the former, though more popular
than the text itself, becomes less meaningful without the original documents, because
the synthesis of the Literature and the illustration is what provides the readers with
the full experience of the book to imagine and be entertained by a story that does not
usually happen (393). To go further, the reader cannot live in it; the reader can only
use it as to help one s imagination/experience of the said fiction... Show more content

I generally agree with the comments of the MoMA s critique that Wall opened an
entirely new way of illustration, in that Wall s approach was so inviting to the
audience. The focal point of the picture is to the protagonist of the novel, the
Invisible Man , and such emphasis does draw some eyes to the protagonist. However,
at the same time, the whole picture is overwhelmed by the number of the lightbulbs
above the man. Though everything is in real life sizes, the amount of the lightbulbs
acts as a hyperbole, as the text suggests (394). Such override of the focus provides the
audiences with more depth of cognition of the situation, and many times, it is not
frequently possible in two dimensional settings, such as (comparatively) plain
illustrations like those of Wyeth. In that sense, I think Wall s photographyhas opened
a new way of the illustration. However, at the same time, I think his brilliancy is
solely due to his use of the medium of photography. In other words, I think his only
contribution to the illustration industry is the use of the film, which conveys
different sets of images and cognition. Films could always do that, and perhaps
thousands of the photographers have used such techniques in their work; there is
nothing new about the technique itself. So the only difference Wall made was his
synthesis of the film and the Literature to illustrate that specific
Blindness In Cathedral
The act of looking corresponds to physical vision, but in Raymond Carver s
Cathedral , the act of seeing involves a much deeper level of engagement. The
narrator is fully capable of looking. He looks at his house and wife, and he looks at
Robert. The narrator is not blind and therefore assumes that he is superior to Robert.
Robert s blindness, the narrator believes, makes him unable to have any kind of
normal life. The narrator is certain that the ability to see is everything and puts no
effort into seeing anything beyond the surface. With news of a guest coming, the
narrator is immediately put off. Furthermore, knowing the man is blind instantly puts
an image in his head of what kind of person he is. The narrator disregards his wife s

He comes to see that his own tunnel vision has limited and isolated his view of the
world around. The two men hold hands while drawing the Cathedral. If not for this
life changing experience, this narrator would simply have continued on his close
minded lifestyle never learning about or accepting other people as they are. After
finishing the drawing of the cathedral Robert asks, What s a cathedral without
people? (Carver 428). Characterized as a social place where people meet, the
cathedral becomes a symbol of the husband s ability to overcome his loneliness and
his inability to communicate. The last few sentences of the story paint a picture of
someone coming to the realization that being blind can be more than just a physical
limitation. A person can be blinded to the feelings of others and the problems that can
affect our everyday life, yet through interaction and tolerance an individual can find
both themselves and an awareness for people around

Concentration Of Acid-Base Titration
Acid base titrations are a commonly used laboratory practice, used to determine the
concentration of a particular acid or a particular base by neutralizing them with a
known concentration of another acid or base. Acid base titrations are tracked and
measured with the use of an indicator, which causes a color change whenever the pH
changes between specific values. An indicator is composed of an acid or base
whose conjugate acid or conjugate base has a color different from that of the original
compound.1 The use of the indicator allows us to observe and note the neutralization
of a titration which occurs at the end point. Hydrochloric acid (strong acid) and
sodium hydroxide(strong base), are the most commonly used acid and base in
experiments. A strong acid dissociates (or ionizes) completely in aqueous solution to
form hydronium ions (H3O+), while a strong base dissociates completely in aqueous
solution to form hydroxide ions (OH ).1 In this experiment we used potassium
hydrogen phthalate and sodium carbonate as primary standards. These two are
compounds used as primary standards, which are tools that aid in determining the
exact concentration of acids and bases due to their characteristics (See Discussion).
In this experiment, we standardized the strong base sodium hydroxide (NaOH) using
potassium hydrogen phthalate (C8H5KO4) also known as KHP , as the primary
standard and using phenolphthalein as the indicator. This titration follows the
reaction scheme:

The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and sorry I could not travel both. This is the
first line of the opening stanza of Robert Frost s poem, The Road Not Taken. The
traveler in this story has been walking down a path and come to two diverging
roads. Thus, creating a situation in which the traveler must make a decision. This
poem is often misinterpreted by readers and critics. The poem is entertaining, but it
is not as deep and profound as many people believe. I interpret the poem as a
reflection of the uncertainties of life, but in a humorous way.
Frost was born in San Francisco, California on March 26, 1874. He was named
after the famous Confederate general, Robert E. Lee. Robert Lee Frost lived in San
Francisco until he was eleven. At the age of eleven, his father died of tuberculosis,
and Frost moved in with his paternal grandparents. Shortly after his father s death, his
family relocated to Lawrence, Massachusetts. Frost attended school at Lawrence High
School and graduated in 1892. He graduated as class poet and shared co valedictorian
honors with his current girlfriend and future wife, Elinor White. After high school, he
attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. It was there that he got a
job as a newspaper reporter.
Frost was recognized for his literary talent in 1894 when he published his first poem,
My Butterfly which earned him $15. After this poem was published in New York

Abstract This paper takes a brief look at the history and evolution of the juvenile
justice system in the United States. In recent years there has been an increase of
juvenile cases being transferred into the adult court system. This paper will also look
at that process and the consequences of that trend.
History and Evolution In the early nineteenth century juveniles were treated the same
as adults when it came to the legal system. We did not have separate courts or jails for
juveniles and they would often receive the same punishments as adults that had

There are three ways cases are sent to adult court, there is concurrent jurisdiction
where certain cases can be tried in either juvenile or adult court, statutory
exclusion, where certain offenses are automatically tried in adult court and judicial

amp; Welsh, 2011). While the process does differ from State to State there are some
basic guidelines ...states that have transfer hearings provide a legitimate transfer
hearing, sufficient notice to the child s family and defense attorney, the right to
counsel, and a statement of the reason for the court order regarding transfer Seigel

consequences can be positive or negative. On the positive side the juvenile is
afforded more constitutional rights in the adult system, such as a trial by jury. For
some juveniles it could mean a chance of having their charges dismissed (Seigel amp;

have violent offenders taken off the streets and given tougher sentences for violent
crimes than they would have

The two methods being artificial insemination and a bull or multiple bulls.
Typically artificially insemination will work with smaller herd sizes due to the
amount of time and work required. This method can also be costly due to the
equipment and proper technician that is needed. While A.I. can be costly and hard
work, there are benefits to implementing this process. Advantages such as higher
conception rates, prevention of diseases and breeding superior genetics into the
herd. A.I. will also help control when, and how long the calving season will be, by
a producer being able to choose when to breed and how many to breed in a short
window. The second method of breeding is the most common, that being exposing
bulls to the herd. A producer should have one bull for every 25 cows to insure high
pregnancy rates. The vital component to using this method is the length of time the
bulls are exposed to the cows. When breeding heifers, producers need to expose
them to the bulls 30 days before the cows to give ample time to breed. Typically
breeding seasons are too long being 90, 120 or more days. This is the foremost
reason for long calving seasons. Shortening the breeding season down to 60 days
gradually is essential to shortening down the calving season. Sandy Johnson the
livestock specialist at Kansas State University explains that a 90% pregnancy rate in
a 60 day period is very feasible under the right management practices. To shorten the
calving season for an operation, it all begins with the breeding season and therefore

Descriptive Essay About Coffee Shop
I walk down Hillsborough Street on a windy, brisk day, passing many people on
the sidewalk. I approach the store entrance, noticing the large, hand painted sign in
their front window. Opening the door, I walk in and instantly feel warm and
comfortable. The store is dimly lit with soft jazz playing in the background. Many
tables and booths line the store and most are filled with students working and
people socializing. I approach the counter and order my regular, an iced mint
mocha. As I order, the employee and I make small talk, asking each other about our
days. After I order, I step to the side to wait for my drink. As I wait, I look around
the store, seeing the shelves of art and cultural pieces in the front and posters
advertising their locally roasted coffeeand the fair trade practice. An employee calls
out my drink and I take it from the counter, thanking the employee as I walk away. I
walk back toward the front, open the door and exit; warm and happy from getting my
favorite coffee and the welcoming store environment.
Global Village is a local coffee shop on Hillsborough Street and is very popular
among both NC state students and the local Raleigh community. Global Village is a
unique and vibrant place with an inviting, warm environment. I gravitated toward
Global Village for this project due to the uniqueness of the shop. As I began to
explore what made the shop unique, I realized that there are specific values that sets
Global Village apart from other coffee
Dyslexia Awareness Month
The first items of the agenda were to approve disability history week and dyslexia
awareness month. To talk about approving disability history week was a community
group named the Community Advisory Committee for Special Education. There were
two females from the organization, Angie Sutherland and Angel Garcia, who
explained that students should recognize the accomplishments done by people with
disabilities. Board member Rodriguez supported the movement and the board adopted
it. To talk about recognizing dyslexia awareness month was Renae Webster Hopkins
and Grace Trujillo of the Community Advisory Committee for Special Education.
Both representatives talked about spreading awareness of dyslexia, funding for
detecting it, and funding for teachers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first resolution that sought approval was the Compliance with Pupil Textbook
and Instructional Materials Incentive Program Act. Matt Turkey presented the
resolution and informed the board that they were sufficient in ensuring every
school had enough textbooks. The presnter also informed that the program
guarantees that there are enough textbooks in the core classes and that all schools
in the district were listed as sufficient in having textbooks and materials. Once the
presentation concluded there was three public comments by Ana Hartridge, Evan
Icmire, and Paul Nagrath, all whom wanted updated textbooks because they were
all outdated and worn, and move towards ebooks on tablets. At this time president
Hansen provides comments such as using funds to update textbooks or draft a plan
to provide technology to students. He also mentioned that there is money left over
from the 1.6 million budget that might be useful. Vice president Ryan also
comments and ask questions regarding how textbooks are cycled out and new ones
are provided. The response was that the districts decide when to replace textbooks.
Ryan also discovers from presenter Turkey that there is a new draft plan that is
talked about to replace each subject textbooks, one at a time over a period of time. A
plan to incorporate technology and ebooks to students has no plan at the moment.
Board members Rodriguez and Crockren commented, Cockren wanted to have

Comparing Nature In Wild Geese And Coast Of Maine
Mothers Nature is described and portrayed in many different ways. Her many
depictions range from angry forces or the idea of a great nurturing goddess.
Regardless of her many differing depictions throughout history, the conclusion can be
drawn that many people accredited our natural world with a lot of power. They
personified the natural world and gave her this overreaching power. In some
circumstances this is a nurturing thing, in others its a punishment and malevolent
thing. This theme also flow through some poetry. As you can see, Optimism, by Jane
Hirshfield, Wild Geese by Mary Oliver and Coast of Maine by Richard Eberhart, all
take on this theme. Even though these three exciting and invigorating poems include
the idea that the natural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She gives off a nurturing vibe sou acceptance and its stark contrast to what the last
two poems were trying to convey. A lot of what she is saying pushes the mother
part in mother nature. You can see this is apparent when she talks about the family
of things (line 17) This applies to the maternal idea as well. This imagery really
gives you a good idea of the power. With such a deep connection to all the things in
the world, it alludes to the idea that the natural world is large and powerful. This
entity differs immensely from the last two. However there is a small reference in
this poem that holds some similarity. She says Meanwhile the world goes on. This is
very similar to the last poems. This statement talks about the indifference and lack of
concern he world has. The world is large has this vastness to it and Oliver plays on
that too. She paints this visual picture of geese migrating, she lets you imagine this
vast sky when she says Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are
heading home again. This builds this vast environment, and gives this natural entity
power. That s what these poems get across. Nature is much more than just
environments, ecosystems and food chains. This thought of connecting
My Writing History
We all have dreams. My mother always dreamed of being a teacher; however, life
took her for another turn and her dreams were not fulfilled. She became a stay at
home mom instead. She used me to achieve her dreams of being a teacher; therefore,
I became her student. From the age of three, she began to teach me the basics of
reading and writing. By the time I started kindergarten, I was very advanced in
reading for my age. My first day of school, I was appalled when my classmates
could not read simple words. Did their mothers not teach them to read like mine had?
This was the start to my reading and writing journey. My writing history has had a
significant influence on my current writing strengths, weaknesses, and style. As a

The Matrix By The Wachowski Brothers
Just what is The Matrix? This is the question that the extremely entertaining and
absurdly thought provoking movie The Matrix, by The Wachowski Brothers,
hopes to answer. How can we know that WE don t live in the Matrix? That is the
question that the movie hopes that we can answer for ourselves. The movie opens
with the apparent double life of Thomas Anderson. Thomas Anderson works a
normal job as a computer programmer, but spends his free time as a freelance
hacker known by the name of Neo. He is contacted one day by the team of the
Nebuchadnezzar, a ship in the real world full of a crew that has been pulled from the
Matrix. After following their instructions and being extracted, he wakes up in a vat
with plugs in him and is rescued... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not the movie the Matrix, but the Matrix in the movie, The Matrix. The Matrix is
pulls on the problem of perception. Humans are grown in fields, harvested, and then
their brains are hooked up to a machine that simulated life while their energy is
harvested. The problem is however, when your senses are being perfectly spoofed
and you are in a near perfect simulation of the world you will not know that you are
not living the real life. The movie makes some interesting parallels to the idea of
dreams. We have all had those dreams that seemed very real when they happened,
only to wake up the next day and think about how ridiculous they were. The idea of
the Matrix is to be close enough to the real world that the human mind doesn t catch
on. This raises an interesting question though. If the humans are really grown and
harvested and the Matrix is the only thing that they ever know, why did the Matrix
have to simulate the reality that did exist. Would it not be equally possible for the
simulated Matrix to be completely different in physical laws and color spectrum and
general makeup from the world that humans are accustomed too? The Matrix was
extremely successful, in my experience, with illustrating this problem that we have.
In the movie, there was someone there to clue the main character into the fact that he
was being deceived, and there was an easy way out the real world was but a phone
Depression And Its Effects On Society
Depression is becoming somewhat of a household topic these days with nearly
6.9% of American adults and 350 million people worldwide suffering from
depression according to the World Health Organization. Depression is a mood
disorder that causes persistent feelings of sadness and loss of personal interests. It is
frequently called major depressive disorderor clinical depression and it can affect the
way people think, feel, and even their behavior(s) can change. Depression is more
than just the occasional blues and it is not something you can just make go away.
Depression is much more prevalent among women because women are twice as
likely to develop depression compared to men. It can cause severe emotional and
occasionally physical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many outside factors that can contribute to and cause depression. Abuse
is one of those factors, whether it is past physical, sexual, or emotional abuse they
increase one s vulnerability to clinical depression later. There are some drugs that
can increase your risk for depression such as Accutane an acne medication. Death
or a loss of someone that is close to you can also increase the risk for depression.
Genetics is another risk factor increasing the risks for developing depression, it is
not so much that there is one specific gene, but a little from several genes exerting
their effects combined can predispose a person to a higher risk of developing
depression. Conflict with family and friends is another factor that can cause
depression. Substance abuse is also quite a factor considering that 30% of the
people struggling with substance abuse are also suffering from depression.
Sometimes depression can go hand in hand with a serious medical illness,
according to WebMD or depression could just be triggered by a medical condition.
These are just a few of the causes of depression, but because all the causes have yet
to be discovered making it impossible to list every cause of depression. There are
many different symptoms associated with depression including feelings of
hopelessness and helpfulness. People experiencing depression, according to

Brief Summary Of The Stefanie Coleman Case
Stefanie Coleman (Coleman) provided the following information:
On March 28, 2017, Agent Kelly Birch met with Coleman. The interview was audio
recorded. This report is a summary of the interview and not a transcription.
Coleman provided that she worked at the Fort Gibson Nursing Home for
approximately two years off and on.
Coleman provided that she does not work in the kitchen or dining room area. She has
witnessed residents spill drinks on themselves but not coffee. Coleman then said if
someone split something hot on them an aid would pull them out and tell a nurse to
check them and see if they are burnt. When I asked Coleman if she ever witnessed
that, she stated, are we talking about the resident that got burnt by the coffee?

Firefly Squid
Bioluminescence в€’ light produced by a living plant or animal в€’ is one of
nature s great spectacles. If you re lucky, you may have seen a summertime display
by fireflies, members of the most well known bioluminescent species in the United
States. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, a creature known as the firefly
squid also provides a yearly light show. Gathering each year to spawn along the
coast of Japan, these squid light up bays and shorelines with a brilliant wash of blue.
Both the firefly and the firefly squid create light with a chemical called luciferin.
When it combines with other chemicals, luciferin produces a light without heat. The
structure of luciferin molecules in an animal s body determines the color of the light it

The Pros And Cons Of Human-Wildlife Conflict
General introduction
According to the IUCN World Park Congress (2003), Human Wildlife Conflict
(HWC) occurs when wildlife resource requirements overlap with those of human
populations, creating costs both to communities adjacent to protected areas and the
wildlife within them. At present the phenomenon poses a serious challenge to both
the human livelihoods and the flora and fauna globally (Berger McGraw 2007).
HWC take place in diverse environments and different animal assemblages and
countries and this is increasingly acquiring the attention of ecologist, wildlife
biologists, wildlife researchers and wildlife managers across the globe (Muriuki et
al.2017). Even though HWC has an ancient historical background, its rising harshness
and multi faced nature has made it a great global concern to wildlife management,
this is due to number of factors such as, habitat fragmentation, land use changes,
human and wildlife population expansion, competition for resources ... Show more

2016) and as results retaliatory killings of wildlife species intensify( Broekhuis et
al. 2017,Mateo Tomas et al. 2012), the long term survival of species is at risk.
Wildlife population decreases in areas where there are high human wildlife
interactions, in places such as forests, river bank and grazing areas adjacent to
protected areas (Michalski et al 2006; Sladge et al. 2017). On the other hand this
conflict poses a huge challenge in the sustainability of human livelihoods
(Gillingham Lee 2003; Rao et al 2002; Sahoo and Mohnot 2004), along with
resultant economic loss from crop and livestock damages ( Mackenzie and Ahabyona
2012; Schön 2013). The management of HWC drains the affected countries
financially (Lamarque et al. 2009), this calls for better strategic management plans
which are publicly acceptable and will not jeopardize wildlife conservation
Buddy Rich Essay

English 11Thesis
When it comes to my playing, I take no prisoners, Buddy Rich tells Mel Torme in
February 1949(Unofficial 1). Buddy Rich has taken drumming to new levels,
developing ensembles that are centered around his stunning display of endurance and
velocity, not to mention his remarkable showmanship. Buddy Rich is one of the most
talented and influential drummers of all time. Born to the name Bernard Buddy
Rich on September 30, 1917, in Brooklyn, NY to parents Robert and Bess, Rich
quickly jumped into the world of show business at the early age of 18 months. He
made his first appearance as a vaudeville act called Traps, The DrumWonder (Torme

Although loved in hometowns of the south, could a one person child act attract
enough in big northern cities? This was a chance he bet his money on, and finally
made it big. Soon afterwards, many big Companies, such as Ludwig were
sponsoring Traps. (Torme 27) Rich s family life at those times was very strenuous.
His father with all the stresses of the common world, plus the new ones added by
his child prodigy would often lead to physical confrontations in the household.
Rich was often abused as a result of this (as were his brothers). This ultimately
would help to contribute to his arrogance as an adult (Torme 2) As Rich grew his
grand abilities would help place him in the spotlight for the duration of his life.
His career quickly took off. From 1951 to 1966, Rich played with many groups and
people. Such groups and people were Harry James, Les Brown, Charlie Ventura s
Big Four and Norman Grandz s Jazz at the Philharmonic. In 1966, Rich formed his
own big band (Downbeat 3).
Towards the end of his life, Rich s attitude and arrogance were showing their true
colors. Mel Torme recalls such an event from a trip on Rich s tour bus where a tired
Buddy lashed out at an Australian player for keeping a beard (Torme 2). Sadly
enough Rich suffered from a heart condition, and following surgery for a malignant
brain tumor, died from heart failure in Los Angeles

Students may question the venue of prom especially since other schools in the county

Prom is still going to be a night to remember for everyone in attendance but the cost

Two annually elected consuls convened the senate and the curiate and centuriate
assemblies. Initially the office was only open to patricians until the Lex Licinia
opened it to Plebeian candidates in 367 BC. At the end of their annual term of
service, Consuls would take the title Proconsul and generally serve as provincial
governors The Senate directed the magistrates, especially the consuls, in their
prosecution of military conflicts. The Senate also had an enormous degree of power
over the civil government in Rome. This was especially the case with regards to its
management of state finances, as only it could authorize the disbursal of public
monies from the treasury. In addition, the Senate passed decrees called senatus
consultum, which was officially advice from the Senate to a magistrate. While
technically these decrees did not have to be obeyed, in practice, they usually were.
During an emergency, the Senate (and only the Senate) could authorize the
appointment of a dictator. The last ordinary dictator, however, was appointed in 202

The Political and Social Changes in Western Europe Essay
Western European people had endured a series of changes during the late medieval
period. Changes can be categorized into two aspects: politically and socially. On
politics, Popes were not as strong as they were due to conflicts between the state
and the church. Socially, people began to live a religion dominated life, and
experienced active sexism towards women. These changes, either positive or
negative, have become an undivided part of European History. People faced the rise
and the fall of the Catholic Churchduring the medieval time. The Popesused to hold
the final authority for the church and over the state. PopeGregory VII asserted the

King Philip s advisers challenged the Pope by quoting the Roman Law, which
stated that the King of France was completely sovereign in his kingdom and
responsible to God alone (McKay, 364). Not long King Phillip arrested Pope
Boniface VIII in Italy and had foreshadowed later conflicts between the church and
the state in the 14th century. The decline of church power became even more
apparent during the Babylonian Captivity (1309 1376). Pope Clement V s
agreement on King Philip s request of settlement in Avignon in southwestern France
first signified the Pope s leadership and authority had been weakened. Furthermore,
after Gregory XI s death, Urban VI (1378 1389) had been planning on church
reform, but his endorsement of opposition among the hierarchy had triggered a
serious of disaster. As a result, Cardinal Robert of Geneva was elected to be Pope
and took the name Clement VII. The situation became two popes in office: Urban at
Rome and the anti pope Clement VII at Avignon, hence marked the beginning of the
Great Schism. France immediately recognized the antipope Clement while Aragon,
Castile and Portugal follow suit. For England, they recognized Urban VI and the
Analysis of the Movie Soundtrack Eternal Sunshine of the...
Sound
Choosing the soundtrack for a movie is another difficult task that a director has to
do because they have to find a perfect song or an instrumental track that will fit or
compliment the scene that they are editing. The soundtrack of a movie is also a
guaranteed way of effecting the emotions of the audience members. As a result,
directors spend a great deal of time in choosing the right soundtrack for the movie.
They want to make sure that they target the correct emotions for each scene. The
sequence of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind featured many different sounds;
such as, speech, music and sound effects.
The scene begins with Joel and Clementine laying underneath a blanket. Clementine
is telling Joel a story from her childhood, and as she tells the story, we can hear
music in the background, which is considered non diegetic sound because the
audience can hear it but not the characters in the movie. The music we hear, as
audience members, is very calming and smooth and continues to play as Clementine
tells her story. We then see Joel crawling between blankets because he is trying to
catch up with a memory that is currently being erased. As he moves to another
memory, we can hear another type of non diegetic sound; however, this time it is
harsh and fast, which indicates that he is moving fast because he does not want the
memory to be erased. We continue hearing this harsh sound as he remembers the
beginning of the memory of him and Clementine

  • 3. The Failure Of The Insurrectionary Movement The Failure of the Insurrectionary Movement, 1837 1839 Canada has always been under a capitalist ruling regime for many years. The Canadian state, even as a colony of both England and France, went through mercantilist monopolistic practices that affected the lower working classes. During this period, the Church was powerful and was involved in the formulation of power. The state was fully supported by the Church and gained its wealth through illegal means with major benefits going to the aboriginal Canadian citizens. The rebellion or uprising was aimed at fighting capitalist regime introduced by foreigners, addressing high poverty levels and ensuring equitable distribution of resources among the Canadian citizens. This paper will explore the sharing of power between the citizens, Church, and government during the insurrectionary movement. The author suggests that the Canadian natives are suffering in many ways in the hands of foreigners. The capitalist regime is taking everything from the natives and suffer huge monetary loss due to the high taxes. The natives cry foul of intruders who have taken control of everything including robbing the exchequer and carrying their proceeds to their home countries. Imperialism is the main argument that the author tries to bring out in this case. The foreigners exploited Canada s natural resources at the expense of the local citizens. • 5. Characteristics Of An Organization As A Mechanical Image Introduction The overall structure of various types of organizations can be framed by using metaphorical images, which help to clarify the way that organizations operate. Morgan (2006) discusses several of these metaphorical images, including the image of an organization as a machine and the image of an organization as an organism. Each image is unique, but there are some similarities and many differences between the two. In order to understand each image meaningfully, the two images will be introduced, explained, compared, and contrasted in this paper. A personal perspective follows this, outlining which image would be chosen if only one image were available as the single way to structure an organization. The Mechanical Image The theory of an organization as a mechanical image supports the idea that organizations should be managed as specialized, separate parts that contribute to a larger goal within the organization. There are several defining characteristics associated with the mechanical image of organization. A mechanical organization typically has a structure that is characterized as bureaucratic, with a rigid system of hierarchical management. According to Weber (1947), who was at the forefront of explaining hierarchical organizations, each lower office is under the control and supervision of a higher one, and there is a right of appeal and of statement of grievances from the lower to the higher (p. 221). This type of top down management, often defined in

The general technique of a convolutional arrange is to extricate straightforward characteristics at a higher determination, and afterward change over them into more mind complicated characteristics at a coarser determination. The easiest was to create coarser determination is to sub test a layer by a factor of 2. This, thusly, is an intimation to the convolutions piece s size. The width of the bit is picked be fixated on a unit (odd size), to have adequate cover to not lose data (3 would be too little with just a single unit cover), however yet to not have excess calculation (7 would be too vast, with 5 units or more than 70% cover). A convolution portion of size 5 is appeared in Figure 4. The unfilled circle units relate to the subsampling and don t should be processed. Cushioning the info (making it bigger so that there are include units focused on the outskirt) did not enhance execution altogether. With no cushioning, a subsampling of 2, and a bit size of 5, every convolution layer lessens the component estimate from n to (n 3)/2. Schilling, recently hired by Purcell, was going over an analysis she had recently prepared and discussed at a meeting in New York with the firm s intellectual property attorneys. Purcell hoped that by the end of the afternoon, aided by Schilling s insights, he would be able to establish a course of action that might hasten the final settlement of a patent suit brought against CKC three years earlier by the Tolemite Corporation and its licensee, Barton Research and Development (BARD). In 2005, five years after Tolemite had received its patent, a research chemist at CKC had, quite independently, discovered a very similar process for synthesizing Varacil. The CKC researchers, however, had not felt that the new processing techniques could be patented. Thus, no patent search had been initiated and production facilities had simply been converted to the new process. At the time, no one at CKC had suspected the degree to which its new process was similar to the one originated by Tolemite and covered by Tolemite s process patent. It was with some surprise then that CKC management learned that it was being sued by Tolemite and BARD for patent infringement.1 Varacil Varacil was a chemical substance sold almost exclusively to pharmaceutical manufacturers. Although it appeared in a variety of drug preparations, it represented only a minor fraction of any one drug. The economics of its manufacture (high fixed and low variable costs plus economies of scale), however, suggested that it be made in long, high volume runs. Thus the major drug companies themselves were not involved in its preparation. Before 2000, Varacil had been processed from naturally occurring organic chemicals found in animal tissue. As a result of the high cost of these natural chemicals, the cost of Varacil itself had been relatively high. With the advent of synthetic Varacil, this situation changed dramatically. A qualitative literature analysis review was performed in order to understand the main reasons why employees are looking for new opportunities. We started from a high level analysis which was involving the entire word wild job market narrowing down step by step to China reality. In this prospective aspects related to Chinese`s core value are also analyzed. As described in the thesis, they are important aspects which should be kept under consideration when we start the implementation of RSI. As reported in literature there are several reasons which might influence the employee`s decision to change their job and those reasons might be related to personal, environmental and or cultural aspects. Those aspects where considered during the implementation of Relation Systemic Intelligence in China in pharmaceutical company. A transition from strong hierarchyleadership style to a more social decision making style (RSI), was analyzed based on real data collected on productivity, quality, hiring cost and percent of employee voluntary turnover. Music Analysis Of The Film Music Of King Kong 1933 Terrance Mesadieu Music Analysis King Kong 1933 King Kong is the perfect example of the early development of motion picture music in the twentieth century. The music was not only essential to the film, but musical scores also made the film better for the audience. Clever composers created a true musical drama; Max Steiner was known for his musical ability including films like Gone with the Wind. Steiner spent a lot of amount on the music of film King Kong 1933. The music meant everything to that picture, and the picture meant everything to RKO, because it saved the studio from bankruptcy.... The impact of King Kong on the movie going public was astonishing. It emerged into a country frightened, impoverished, in the grip of the Great Depression. The main instrument used in the film music was orchestra which was perfectly aligned with the theme of characters in the film at various points. Steiner developed the music in the symphonic fashion which allowed the film to hit a high score musically and became a symphonic fashion. The usage of the cycle of operas was brilliant with a soothing tune to the ears. The Main Title music opens with King Kong s three note motive; heard throughout the entire score in many sections and guises, but always identifying King Kong himself. The film has a fifty foot giant that depicted a lot of terror to the audience which was facilitated by music; the main title continues with the stolen love of the heroine of the movie. Ann Darrow played the heroine who was saved dramatically by the king kong, and she fell in love with him. Her love for her lifesaver and her further development of the relationship with the gorilla was the core of music and the film. The jungle dance was a faster tune with continuous rhythm, while after the jungle dance, music became much softer, romantic and lush. The entrance of the Kong was a long sequence which was created by Steiner in an orchestral tradition. Viola and Celesta players were given a few notes to play quickly along with some violence in some passages. The recording and the whole thing had a great feeling about it; the natives there was a 2 phase theme which opened like an Indian descending line. Each of the themes including love

Optimization of supply chain activities means competition from other firms, primarily on cost efficiency. However, optimization of supply chain activities alone cannot always yield a source of competitive advantage. This is for the simple reason that value chain not only seeks to do away with the activities that do not add value, but establishes the importance of other support activities, including infrastructure, technology, and so on, that play a vital role in providing the foundation for competitive advantage. The objective of this paper is twofold. This paper initially provides a thorough understanding of the value chain as introduced by Porter (1985) with a brief theoretical review, built on the author s previous research. With this, a basic theoretical perspective may be formed for subsequent analysis. This paper also strives to provide a comprehension towards modification of value chain and ways to move up the value chain to achieve competitive advantage, using the complex adaptive systems theory and using the same through grounded theory methodology by taking on the author s earlier findings of value chain on the Chinese company: Li and Fung and his current effort to map the value chain on the Indian company: Infosys. Justification of Research: Value Chain for Strategy? As outlined in my earlier research, Porter s work on value chain stems from his efforts to take his lessons of Competitive Strategy (Porter, 1980) forward, and provides a prescription for Competitive Advantage (Porter, 1985). There are two generic strategies cost advantage and differentiation with the focus on broad or narrow market, differing the mix and value chain is seen as the model that throws up the opportunities for implementing such strategies. With every pointer towards value chain and the definition of the same not clearly stated by Porter (Porter, 1985), it becomes imperative not only to understand the value chain but also to see how it provides the

Foundation of Yin yang and Its Application on Traditional Chinese Medicine In Chinese philosophy, the symbol yin yang represents the two complementary forces that make up all aspects and phenomena of life. It describes how opposite forces are actually interconnected and interdependent in the natural world. The origin of yin and yang came from the observation of nature and the environment. Yin referred to the shady side of a slope while yang referred to the sunny side. The concept of yin yang lies at the origins of many branches of classical Chinese science and philosophy, as well as being a primary guideline of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and a central principle of different forms of Chinese martials arts and exercise, such as baguazhang, taijiquan (t ai chi), and qigong (Chi Kung) and of I Ching divination. The most common form of yin yang symbol is в Ї, i.e., in harmony, the two sides are depicted as the light and dark halves of a circle. The earliest Chinese characters for yin and yang are found in inscriptions made on skeletal remains of various animals, commonly known as oracle bones , used in ancient Chinese divination practices at least as early as the 14th century B.C.E. In these inscriptions, yin and yang are descriptions of natural phenomena such as weather conditions, especially the movement of the sun. Yang is the sunlight during the day and lack of sunlight at night is yin. The concept of yin yang came into the light around 770 B.C.E.,

The Effects of Genetic and Environmental Factors on Type 1 Diabetes Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder, in which the pancreas does not produce insulin. The research on the affect of viruses in triggering Type 1 diabetes is inconclusive, and some is even contradictory. Some researchers have also found that viruses may prevent Type 1 diabetes. Scientists at Joslin Diabetes Center add trauma as a potential trigger of Type 1 diabetes. A traumatic event, such as a body trauma or a car crash, increases the body s insulin requirement and strains the pancreas. [5] Dr. James H. Another possible environmental cause of Type 1 diabetes is early diet. Breastfeeding for at least three months has shown to decrease the risk of Type 1 diabetes, and a diet including cow s milk before the age of one year old may increase the risk of diabetes. There are many international organizations that have been talked about throughout this semester. One of the most important ones is The United Nations. The United Nations was established October 24, 1945, and has since then been impacting the country. The United Nations main purpose according to the lecture notes is to provide a global additional structure through which states can sometimes settle conflicts with less reliance on the use of force , for whole purpose of the United Nations is to provide the globe a forum by which countries may settle disputes through this forum peacefully as opposed to relying on a force which has been the case historically ( Kopalyan, Module 8). Thus meaning The United Nations was set up to handle problems peacefully rather than going to war to try and solve problems. Powerful economic as well as political forces are at work to bring about a growing integration of the world community, and the United Nations and its related agencies are uniquely fitted to assist in the task (Wilcox/Haviland,45). Every person in this book showed resiliency, not just the Modello residents. The people who were helping the residents at one time or another experienced a setback and they used the training they had and the people around them to bounce back. When Hurricane Andrew hit, many of the women that were highlighted in this book used the three principles to help them get through the storm and be thankful for living through it. They used what they learned in Modello to become resilient and through that training they taught others how they can be resilient too. Through this book I even learned that the resiliency of my childhood and adolescences isn t lost, it s still there when I need it. I just don t think about it anymore just like the ladies in Modello didn t think about it when they were using it after Hurricane
  • 33. A Midsummer Night s Dream Compare And Contrast In A Midsummer Night s Dream Puck and Bottom are different in many ways including the way they behave, their sense of humour, and how they deal with their problems. Puck may be considered a protagonist because he is the character who puts the remedy on Lysander s eyes and corrects the love problems with the Athenian lovers. Puckmakes the mistake by putting the love potion on Lysander s eyes, making him fall in love with Helena, forgetting Hermia. This causes problems because Hermia is still in love with Lysander and Demetrius is in love with Hermia. Like every protagonist, Puck fixes his mistakes and makes everything rights again. He does this by putting the love potion on Demetrius eyes and he then falls in love with Helena. He chases... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the ground, sleep sound, I ll apply, to your eye, gentle lover, remedy (III.ii.461 65). When the lovers wake in the morning Helena and Demetrius are in love and Hermia and Lysander are in love. Unlike Puck, Bottom deals with his problems with the craftsman by trying to be better than them rather than helping them. Puck s spirit is very lively and humorous when he messes up he watches the outcome and laughs at it. For example, when he applies the potion to the wrong eyes he says Believe my King of Shadows, I mistook... and so far am I glad it so did sort, as this their jangling I esteem a sport (III.ii.363 4). This shows how his spirit dominates the play because Puck enjoys to interact with others while Bottom thinks he is the best at everything and does not need the other craftsmen. The comedy surrounding Puck differs from Bottom because Puck s sense of humour is more sophisticated than Bottom s. An example of Bottom s sense of humour is when he uses the incorrect verb when he is performing the play for the lovers. I see a voice. Now will I to the chink, to spy an I can hear my Thisbe s face (V.i.186 7). An example of Puck s sense of humour is when he turned Bottom into an ass. This is more sophisticated because Bottom does not realize that he has been turned into an ass. It is also a metaphor for Bottom s attitude towards the other
  • 34. Symbolism In The Invisible Man 1. The chief difference between Wyeth s painting and Wall s photography is that the former acts as a complement to aid the readers understanding of the general story, while the latter acts as that of the protagonists life, in the point of view of the protagonist (in this case,) himself. As the text says, the former, though more popular than the text itself, becomes less meaningful without the original documents, because the synthesis of the Literature and the illustration is what provides the readers with the full experience of the book to imagine and be entertained by a story that does not usually happen (393). To go further, the reader cannot live in it; the reader can only use it as to help one s imagination/experience of the said fiction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I generally agree with the comments of the MoMA s critique that Wall opened an entirely new way of illustration, in that Wall s approach was so inviting to the audience. The focal point of the picture is to the protagonist of the novel, the Invisible Man , and such emphasis does draw some eyes to the protagonist. However, at the same time, the whole picture is overwhelmed by the number of the lightbulbs above the man. Though everything is in real life sizes, the amount of the lightbulbs acts as a hyperbole, as the text suggests (394). Such override of the focus provides the audiences with more depth of cognition of the situation, and many times, it is not frequently possible in two dimensional settings, such as (comparatively) plain illustrations like those of Wyeth. In that sense, I think Wall s photographyhas opened a new way of the illustration. However, at the same time, I think his brilliancy is solely due to his use of the medium of photography. In other words, I think his only contribution to the illustration industry is the use of the film, which conveys different sets of images and cognition. Films could always do that, and perhaps thousands of the photographers have used such techniques in their work; there is nothing new about the technique itself. So the only difference Wall made was his synthesis of the film and the Literature to illustrate that specific

The last few sentences of the story paint a picture of someone coming to the realization that being blind can be more than just a physical limitation. A person can be blinded to the feelings of others and the problems that can affect our everyday life, yet through interaction and tolerance an individual can find both themselves and an awareness for people around

Concentration Of Acid-Base Titration Acid base titrations are a commonly used laboratory practice, used to determine the concentration of a particular acid or a particular base by neutralizing them with a known concentration of another acid or base. Acid base titrations are tracked and measured with the use of an indicator, which causes a color change whenever the pH changes between specific values. An indicator is composed of an acid or base whose conjugate acid or conjugate base has a color different from that of the original compound.1 The use of the indicator allows us to observe and note the neutralization of a titration which occurs at the end point. Hydrochloric acid (strong acid) and sodium hydroxide(strong base), are the most commonly used acid and base in experiments. A strong acid dissociates (or ionizes) completely in aqueous solution to form hydronium ions (H3O+), while a strong base dissociates completely in aqueous solution to form hydroxide ions (OH ).1 In this experiment we used potassium hydrogen phthalate and sodium carbonate as primary standards. These two are compounds used as primary standards, which are tools that aid in determining the exact concentration of acids and bases due to their characteristics (See Discussion). In this experiment, we standardized the strong base sodium hydroxide (NaOH) using potassium hydrogen phthalate (C8H5KO4) also known as KHP , as the primary standard and using phenolphthalein as the indicator. This titration follows the reaction scheme:

Thus, creating a situation in which the traveler must make a decision. This poem is often misinterpreted by readers and critics. The poem is entertaining, but it is not as deep and profound as many people believe. I interpret the poem as a reflection of the uncertainties of life, but in a humorous way. Frost was born in San Francisco, California on March 26, 1874. He was named after the famous Confederate general, Robert E. Lee. Robert Lee Frost lived in San Francisco until he was eleven. At the age of eleven, his father died of tuberculosis, and Frost moved in with his paternal grandparents. Shortly after his father s death, his family relocated to Lawrence, Massachusetts. In recent years there has been an increase of juvenile cases being transferred into the adult court system. This paper will also look at that process and the consequences of that trend. While the process does differ from State to State there are some basic guidelines ...states that have transfer hearings provide a legitimate transfer hearing, sufficient notice to the child s family and defense attorney, the right to counsel, and a statement of the reason for the court order regarding transfer Seigel amp; Welsh, 2011). Advantages such as higher conception rates, prevention of diseases and breeding superior genetics into the herd. A.I. will also help control when, and how long the calving season will be, by a producer being able to choose when to breed and how many to breed in a short window. The second method of breeding is the most common, that being exposing bulls to the herd. A producer should have one bull for every 25 cows to insure high pregnancy rates. The vital component to using this method is the length of time the bulls are exposed to the cows. When breeding heifers, producers need to expose them to the bulls 30 days before the cows to give ample time to breed. Typically breeding seasons are too long being 90, 120 or more days. This is the foremost reason for long calving seasons. Shortening the breeding season down to 60 days gradually is essential to shortening down the calving season. Sandy Johnson the livestock specialist at Kansas State University explains that a 90% pregnancy rate in a 60 day period is very feasible under the right management practices. The problem is however, when your senses are being perfectly spoofed and you are in a near perfect simulation of the world you will not know that you are not living the real life. The movie makes some interesting parallels to the idea of dreams. We have all had those dreams that seemed very real when they happened, only to wake up the next day and think about how ridiculous they were. The idea of the Matrix is to be close enough to the real world that the human mind doesn t catch on. This raises an interesting question though. If the humans are really grown and harvested and the Matrix is the only thing that they ever know, why did the Matrix have to simulate the reality that did exist. Would it not be equally possible for the simulated Matrix to be completely different in physical laws and color spectrum and general makeup from the world that humans are accustomed too? They want to make sure that they target the correct emotions for each scene. The sequence of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind featured many different sounds; such as, speech, music and sound effects. The scene begins with Joel and Clementine laying underneath a blanket. Clementine is telling Joel a story from her childhood, and as she tells the story, we can hear music in the background, which is considered non diegetic sound because the audience can hear it but not the characters in the movie. The music we hear, as audience members, is very calming and smooth and continues to play as Clementine tells her story. We then see Joel crawling between blankets because he is trying to catch up with a memory that is currently being erased. As he moves to another memory, we can hear another type of non diegetic sound; however, this time it is harsh and fast, which indicates that he is moving fast because he does not want the memory to be erased. We continue hearing this harsh sound as he remembers the beginning of the memory of him and Clementine
