The Order Fulfillment Procedure For Cup Of Joe
Project Overview
For our Gemba project, we decided to analyze the order fulfillment procedure for Cup of Joe, a
coffee shop located in the Lennox Town Center. In order to capture the establishment s peak hours
of business, we primarily visited during the hours of 9:00am 12:00pm. We focused our attention on
orders for baked goods, coffee, and espresso drinks, as these products are the shop s main source
of revenue and reputation. On several separate mornings we were able to observe an average of
125 orders over three hours (a takt time of 1.44 minutes). In the evening, there were often less than
a dozen orders every hour. Since every order is slightly different, we have described the average
order and the steps in the process that are consistent in almost every situation. We have identified
multiple areas for improvement, which are referenced in the sections entitled analysis and
recommendations.

Growing up in the inner city of Los Angeles taught me many things; make sure you re inside
before the street lights come on, never wear all red or blue, and make sure you get a good
education so that one day you can leave the inner city behind. I was fortunate enough to have

There are many ways of alternate energy that can replace the need for oil and gas in the United
States. And the reason it could do that is because the forms of energy come from the environment
and are not harmful to it. Plus they are a lot cheaper than oil and gas prices. The government
suppresses some advanced energies for fear of their enemies getting these technologies and using

Of course the majority of the public would start using free , clean energy sources instead of
using expensive sources of energy that harm the earth. So in order to stop that, they make
committees that go around and pick up alternate forms of energy that are invented and remove
them from public access so the people won t switch over to those energy sources. Then if the
inventor wants to patent it and make it public, they must go through the patent office and wait a
year. This is also how they slow down production of alternate energy. They make them wait a
year before making it public so they can make more money during that year. The oil and gas

alternate energy over natural gas because it is cheaper and more efficient. Also alternate energy
produces more jobs than fossil fuels do, so the actual company itself doesn t make as much
