Analysis of Romance of Resistacne by Lila Abu-Lughod
The Romance of resistance is an article which is written by Lila Abu Lughod in regard with the
different forms of resistance among the Bedouin women and the traditional structure of power among
the Bedouin Community in the Egypt s Western Desert. She arrived in late 1970 to begin a fieldwork,
and she discovered different forms of resistance among the Bedouin women. In this Article she
emphasis on how the Bedouin women resisted the decision of their fathers, uncles, and older brother,
how the resisted the sexually segregation, and sexually irreverent discourse. Furthermore, it also talk
about how local communities are being incorporated into modern states and integrated into a wider
economy.
The first one is sexually segregated, since the community is rule and influence by man particularly
elder so it led to Defiance and women merely take the advantage of secretly like meeting friends or
visiting healer and even sometimes smoking secretly. This shows how women are restricted. The
second form of resistance is girls and women resistance to marriages. Where women have no control
over the arrangement of the marriage but only elder man or relative like uncle and father decide even
they were intimidate and force to marry a person older in age than them. But sometime girl s mother
take stands and refuse the male decision as author mentioned the story of her host that the mother
refused the decision of his husband in regard with marriage of her daughter. Also there were other

The Importance Of STEM In Education
What is STEM? Despite the growing push for STEM, it is not well understood; there is little
consensus about what it is, how to integrate STEM into classroom instruction, and how STEM
learning can be assessed (Brown et al., 2011; Huntley, 1998; Pitt, 2009). Stakeholders who are
interested in promoting STEM are often confused by the construct. These stakeholders include
government officials who are funding STEM initiatives, teachers who are expected to teach STEM,
parents, businesses who need to invest in their future employment, and students (Breiner et al., 2012).
Although many studies have shown that teachers recognize the importance of STEM education,
educators do not consistently agree or understand what STEM education should be like in K 12
education (Wang et al., 2011). In a study by Brown et al. (2011) less than half of the teachers and
administrators correctly defined STEM as education involving science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics. Brown et al. (2011) mentioned that this may be an overestimate given that (a) some
participants did not understand the meaning of STEM and used the Internet to research it and some
teachers and (b) administrators revealed that they chose not to participate because they did not know
about STEM. Even higher education faculty who are involved in STEM projects had varying
definitions or conceptualizations of STEM (Breiner et al., 2012). Many of these faculty members
conceptualized STEM as individual STEM disciplines,

Travesti Sex Workers in Brazil
Introduction
Travestility in Brazil has been used to refer to the disparateness of travestis identities. On the other
hand, travesti is an emic idea widely used in Latin America and Brazil. Scholars argue that trying to
explain who travestis are can seem paradoxical, especially when travesti identities are talked about as
heterogenous, plural and multiple.
Travestis are individuals who change their physical appearance to make it look like a woman s body.
Travestis dress and live their daily life as people belonging to the female gender group, without the
desire to undergo reconstructive surgery of removing the penis and constructing a vagina. Their
practices, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps it would have been a different situation, if they were actually women who are acting and
thinking like men. According to travesties, being of the primary gender (biologically male), thinking
and behaving like women is unacceptable because it downgrades one s gender status. On the contrary,
being biologically female, behaving and thinking like men is upgrading and heroic. In this sense,
being like a girl has been a challenge since childhood for travestis. They always feared that people
would find out and shame them in the society. While peculiarly following their unimpressive path in
the society, of desiring women and experiencing sex, travesti subjectivity is generated out of their
apprehensive relationships with their untrustworthy boyfriends. Within this subjectivity, travestis
efforts to show themselves within the normal boundaries of the Brazilian society strengthen the gender
binary. In their relations with their boyfriends, they act like nothing else other than females. Similarly,
in their profession, they play the role of a female or male depending on the demands of the situation
by swapping between the binary gender roles. Travesti subjectivity comes into the limelight with
normative gender binary

The History of Prison Reform
The History of Prison Reform
Introduction
The evolution of prison reform is a reflection of society s changing attitudes toward crime and
punishment. Prisons have progressed from simple places for incarceration where the primary purpose
is to protect the public to instruments of punishment where the loss of freedom is penalty for breaking
the law, to institutions for reform dedicated to mould the guilty to conform to society s norms. Prisons
were among the first public buildings erected in the New World. The city of Boston felt the need of a
house of detention when the town consisted of a mere forty homes. Early American prisons were not
conceived as houses of punishment. In English and American law, political prisoners and high ranking
prisoners of war were occasionally incarcerated, but few common criminals could expect such
treatment. Almost the only time commoners were locked away was while awaiting trial, once a verdict
was delivered, they were punished on the spot or released (Lynch, 2011). The eighteenth century
transformed not only the physical form of prisons but their function and their place in American
consciousness.
Discussion
Initially imprisonment was a means of detaining debtors to ensure payment, the accused before trial,
or the guilty before punishment. Courts imposed sentences including fines, personal mutilation such as
flogging or branding, or death (Johnson, 2011).
The only offense for which long term imprisonment was common was debt, though

Epilogue To Dayron
ote: This was originally with A Burning Wish but I thought since Dayron s part didn t really go with
the title, I decided it could have it s own story. 7) A TICKING CLOCK He watched, his view blurry
from the tears, as his uncle s bird flew from it s box. The room was covered by hot fire but it didn t
touch Dayron. Instead, it covered Mama and Dayron only got the heat of the fire. There was no sound,
apart from Mama s heavy breathing. Dayron looked at his uncle and saw that a scary smile had
appeared on his face. Why is he smiling? Mama needs help. He needs to help her. He needs to hurt
this mean bird, like it s hurting Mama. That s what they do in the stories. The Hero always helped
people especially girls, so why wasn t Uncle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He put the box on the floor and the bird made a crackling sound. Uncle then walked over to Dayron
and lifted him out of the hole in the wall. Yes, Dayron, said Uncle, settling him down on the floor. Let
s go wake Mama up. They walked through the dark tunnel and up to the castle. Taking all the steps, by
which Dayron was breathing heavily at the end. Why is there so many steps? Uncle opened the door to
Mama s room. Dayron looked at the bed. Mama wasn t there. He turned to face his uncle who was
picking up a little clock which was making a ticking noise a noise which Dayron always copied
whenever he was in Mama s room. Mama isn t here. said Dayron, he thought maybe she would be.
Then he could wake her up and tell her about the mean bird and the black log. You just saw what you
re eyes weren t supposed to see. said Uncle, holding the clock in two hands now. Dayron was
confused. What wasn t he supposed to see. The black log? The bird? You ll be seeing Mama soon. said
Uncle, not moving. Really? Good! Then I can tell her about the mean bird and the black log. Black

The Silence Of The Lambs Comparison
As the Halloween season approaches, many horror films start to come to life. When they do, they
spread immense fear to those who want a good scare. Red Dragon, the second film amongst the
Hannibal Lecter series, is a movie that will not disappoint. It s a classic tale of good vs. evil, and a test
to see who can outsmart the other. In a case so tight, will the good guys finally prevail? Although the
chase seems never ending, and too complicated to solve, it makes for some great entertainment that
will keep us on our toes. With a movie so jampacked with excitement, it s hard to believe that people
still prefer the first film, The Silence of the Lambs. Despite the comparison, the director, Brett Ratner,
does a brilliant job of piecing the Red ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They say it s because The Silence of the Lambs was the first movie of the Hannibal Lecter series to be
aired. But how can we compare based on which one came out first? Although it may be the first, the
events that took place in The Silence of the Lambs theoretically happened after the Red Dragon, thus
making Red Dragon the prequel. The Silence of the Lambs stars Jodie Foster, who plays an F.B.I
agent in pursuit of yet another serial killer, and surprise surprise, seeks the help of Hannibal Lecter.
Sound familiar? Although both plots are practically the same, one slightly outshines the other. Red
Dragon does a good job of focusing on the details. Although Silence was the first film, it was never
mentioned how Hannibal Lecter was put behind bars. Red Dragon takes that focus and shows us
exactly how and whom was able to defeat the unstoppable murderer. There is also a big difference in
character development for the killers in both movies. In Silence, the killer is ruthless, but we don t get
to see how he became that way. However, in Red Dragon, the killer is unrelenting, but we get to see
his back story, and in the end we almost have sympathy for him. Both films are very well made
thrillers, but it doesn t mean that the first is better than the second. The film with fine tuned details and
a more likeable serial killer should come out on

Swac Research Paper
The Southwestern Athletic Conference has given the NFL, the SWAC has given the league nothing.
Have the SWAC and HBCUs lost their swagger? To get a handle on this, consider that Alabama had
four players drafted in the first round this year, a number equal to players from Historically Black
Colleges and Universities taken in the last two years all four coming from the Mideastern Athletic
Conference. The only player taken this year was Christian Thompson, a safety from South Carolina
State selected in the fourth round by the Baltimore Ravens. Since 2005, only five SWAC players have
been drafted.
The landscape of college football has changed so dramatically, it would appear to be unfair to today s
SWAC athletes to compare their situation to those of players three decades ago. Hampering
contemporary players is too many options to play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strahan always sought out HBCU players when he played for the Giants. He d look for a Donald
Driver and Lewis Tillman was already in New York when he got there. And then there was the
pregame ritual that kept him grounded. I would pick up the Game Day magazine and look down the
rosters and see where they went to school, Strahan said. Unfortunately, for HBCU players, Doug
Williams begs to differ.
Even in the heyday of the SWAC, when a kid was drafted he was considered a project. Their coaching
and individual techniques dismissed as they more times than not were drafted on pure physical
attributes. The most common term used in evaluations.Strahan said. But how many of those so called
polished players turned out to be horrible football players? I think it s about the heart of the guy and
about the commitment of the player. I don t know. Maybe the scouts are lazy now.

The Physiological Phenomena During Sex
This paper will explore the physiological phenomena during sex and if it holds to be proven about all
creatures. Sigmund Freud invented Psychoanalysis, which is the theory and therapy of treating people
who suffer from nervous disorders by researching the unconscious mind that makes us repress or push
our urges and desires. From Psychoanalysis, stems Psychosexual development, which believe that
from birth humans experience sxual energy going through five stages in their life. This theory could
have inspired the two researchers between the late 1950s and early 1960s, William H. Masters and his
partner, Virginia E. Johnson. Masters and Johnson deeply investigated the physiological changes a
male and female experience during sex and how long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite of all the data Masters and Johnson collected, Shere Hite was one their criticizer, who strongly
believe there was some faults in the information they wrote about females and orgasms. The following
questions will answer the confusion about sexuality:
What is Psychosexuality and how does it impact Masters and Johnson s work? Does animals prove the
Human Sexual Response cycle?
Does Hite highlight the flaws in the Human Sexual Response?
Therefore, Masters and Johnson s human sexual cycle is accurate because it efficiently sorts the
physiological changes for all creatures.

About Human Sexual Response? eas done by James G Pfaus, Tod E. Kippin, Genaro Coria Avila

The Human Sexual Response is a four stage model that has to do with physiological responses of
sexual stimulation. The question the focuses on was what can animal models tell us about human
sexual response and the hypothesis they focus on to examine how it causes desire and how sexual

field, rarely worked together. However, it makes sense that they work together in this topic because

Passenger Pigeon Audubon
Passenger Pigeon , written by John James Audubon, is the author s account of the passenger pigeon, a
bird species prominent in North America until it became extinct. The scientific work begins with a
rich description of the passenger pigeon. After describing the pigeon, Audubon changes topics, as he
begins to discuss a personal story involving the bird. The structure of content in Passenger Pigeon is a
cycle, as Audubon goes from giving factual information to telling about his individual encounters with
the bird. Audubon s story is summarized through his scientific descriptions of the pigeons and his
stories of encounters with the passenger pigeon. This is an important work because Audubon uses
rhetorical appeals to intertwine scientific research with vivid descriptions of the ... Show more content

Many scientific writers of the 1800s strictly appealed to factual information through logos. By
appealing to logos, writers created representations of their research which could serve as stepping
stones in the next generation of scientific experiments. Audubon also appeals to factual information,
but he also appeals to ethos and pathos. By using multiple rhetorical appeals, he creates a story which
is interesting both in scientific and literary manner. Audubon builds credibility through his personal
stories, as he refers to himself as I, and he refers to the reader in more than one instance. This
credibility allows him to have more freedom describing the passenger pigeon, as the level of comfort
he creates through his informal diction allows him to use ethos effectively. Audubon uses pathos to
appeal to emotion. He creates emotion through his diction, making statements such as, during the love
season (Audubon 1). By appealing to multiple characteristics, Audubon led the way for new writers to
express emotion in addition to

Essay On Rolls Royce
From the understanding of The Hayes and Wheelwright model of operations contribution (Slack,
Brandon Jones, Johnston, Betts, July 2015, p. 44) we can conclude that during the period of 1960
Rolls Royce fell into the Internal Neutrality Stage (Slack, Brandon Jones, Johnston, Betts, July 2015)
where their operations process was considered to be at the poorest stage as they did not contribute to
any competition what so ever and their operation process did not fetch them any profits. Moreover at
this stage, there is a serious lack of Product Innovation and Process Efficiency Management where the
operations of the firm are not even considered as the source of revenue (Slack, Brandon Jones,

White Man s Burden Speech Summary
In the speech Effects of colonialism of Africa s past and present Dr. Motsoko Pheko believes that
colonization of Africa was unhealthy for Africa. Europeans made Africa worse than what it was, they
treated Africa as a money making place and didn t care if they had to kill people in order to do so.For
example, Pheko states Africa has suffered the worst genocide and holocaust at the hands of the
architects of slavery and colonialism (Pheko). This example of pathos demonstrates that Africans have
been treated unfairly throughout the years. Europeans have tried to demolish Africa and tear into it as
a toy, Africa s colonization turned Africa into a subhuman country. The use of the word worst
genocide appeals to emotion by showing that Europeans treated Africans as less than human. Therefore
Pheko uses pathos to advance his view that colonialism is unhealthy for Africa. ... Show more content

The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats
William Butler Yeats is considered to be one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century. As stated in
an online source, he belonged to the protestant, Anglo Irish minority. Yeats was not a set person, in his
earlier life he lived in London. Also, Yeats had a very interesting love life as a poet. It is very clear that
he was an explanatory poet. Ones objective of this paper is to identify and discuss the significance of
William Butler Yeats. However, the minority Yeats belonged to belonged to the Protestant, Anglo Irish
minority that had controlled the economic, political, social, and cultural life of Ireland since at least
the end of the seventeenth century. Most members of this minority considered themselves English
people who merely happened to have been born in Ireland (The World Book Encyclopedia World
Book, Inc.) Although he lived in London for fourteen years of his childhood, Yeats maintained his
cultural roots. He was very confidential with himself as an artist. This conviction led many to accuse
him of elitism, but it also help contributed to his greatness.
Eighteen eighty five was an important year in Yeats early adult life, marking the first publication, in
the Dublin University Review. It was also the year that he met John O Leary, a famous patriot who
had returned to Ireland after totaling twenty years of imprisonment and exile for revolutionary
nationalistic activities. Yeats, who had preferred more romantic settings and themes, soon took O

Apple, Inc., The Electronics And Beats Music
Apple acquires Beats. Apple, Inc., the electronics giant, has acquired Beats Music and Beats
Electronics, the headphones giant, for $3.2 billion. Apple has enough money to buy or build any
company they want to from ground up. So, why did Apple acquire Beats Electronics and Beats Music?
According to NBC News, Apple CEO Tim Cook told Re/Code that the company could build about
anything that you could dream of, adding that acquiring Beats would give them a head start and add
kindred spirits to company (Wagstaff, 2014). Given the years of musical experience that both Dr. Dre,
a well known legendary artist and music producer and Jimmy Iovine, the Chairman of Interscope
Geffen A M Records have and the energy they have brought to the hip hop and pop cultures, it is no
wonder that Apple would have made the decision to acquire Beats Electronics and Beats Music. In just
six years, Dr. Dre and Iovine has sealed the whole consumer market for high end headphones. Beats
also unleashed Beats Music, a streaming music service.
The negotiations take place at a critical time: the music market has seen a massive shift towards
streaming and away from downloads. U.S. revenue from downloads which iTunes dominates dropped
1 percent to $2.8 billion in 2013, while streaming music revenue from the likes of Pandora and Spotify
soared 39 percent to $1.4 billion, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (CBS

The Legacy Of Abraham Cahan
Jews have been lashed out on, time and time again throughout history, but one man who saw this
hatred for Jews first hand and tried turning the tables, was a man by the name of Abraham Cahan. He
is known as being the first prominent writer to emerge from the biggest wave of Jewish immigration
from Russia, but he was much more than just a writer. He was an editor and critic of several New York
newspapers, a sociologists reformer, and a teacher of English to many Jewish immigrants following in
his footsteps. Cahan valued his Jewish religion, but not only that, he valued language and in particular
English and Yiddish which he wrote in. He believed in telling the story of immigration through fiction
which he did in his literature, by taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is just one battle in a continuous war against maintaining his religion, but he had a changing
world around him tearing him apart from it. In this constant war, he ends up having to flee Europe in
particular Russia, because he gets tangled in a mess involving an assassination attempt of the Czar.
This journey leads him to America, where he is first greeted by the Statue of Liberty at Ellis Island.
When Cahan came to America many things changed for him, he was forced to leave behind his old life
and try his hardest to assimilate himself into American culture. He left behind many aspects of his
culture, but was still able to continue on with many of them. One piece of his life that was hardest to
maintain was his language. Although he held onto Yiddish, Russian, and Hebrew, he immediately had
to learn English which soon became a large part of his career and what made him so astounding.
America is said to be the home of the free, and this is what so many immigrants desired when coming
to America, and Cahan was no exception. He was a tremendous aid to those immigrants by devoting
the first years of his life in America to teaching English. While doing this, he also lectured and wrote
articles on Jewish life in the city for countless New York magazines. Within these articles he answers
many questions on tough arguments, mostly circled around religion. An example of one

Compare And Contrast King Poe Vs King
Poe vs King
When thinking of two short stories, The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat come to mind. The
narrators of both these stories include suspense and bring about the effects on their minds throughout
both stories. Evidently, there are many similarities and differences between them both. Between both
narrators, they share the same point of view. However, one narrator seems to be angry while the other
seems to be intimidated. The narrators of The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat similarly have
first person point of view, however King s key difference of not being reliable results in suspense for
that story.
Both narrators from the story share a similarity of having first person point of view. To clarify, both
narrators go through a hardship that they both tell throughout their story. Gary from The Man in the
Black Suit faces his hardship through seeing that He was wearing a black three piece suit, and I knew
right away that he was not a human being, because his eyes were the orangey red of flames in a wood
stove (King 5). Through this quote, readers can infer by the use of the narrator s diction that he was
intimidated by the man in the black suit. In addition, by the narrator s choice of I , it meant that the
narrator was by himself during this hardship. The fearful tone that the narrator suggests helps
contribute to the point of view used in the quote above. The structure of the story for the narrator to be
lonely throughout his hardship makes the theme (bad things happen to good people) significant. Not to
mention, during the story, the reader develops an inference that the narrator may not make it out of the
situation alive. Comparatively, the narrator from The Black Cat has the same point of view as the
narrator in The Man in the Black Suit. The husband in The Black Cat seems to believe that he is alone
until he meets this cat named Pluto who genuinely loved him. The narrator faces a hardship when he
says ...I knew that it had loved me, and because I felt it had given me no reason of offence; hung it
because I knew that in doing so I was committing a sin... (Poe 2). Through this quote, readers can
infer that the narrator had a problem mentally and according to the

Background and History of Prostate Cancer
Introduction/Background/ History In 2013 there were 238,500 new cases of Prostate Cancer diagnosed
in the United Sates, and about 29,700 of the cases will die from it according to WebMD.com. Prostate
Cancer is the most non skin related cancer in the United States. Prostate cancer is the formation of
cancerous cells in the prostate of the male s reproductive organ. Prostate cancer is a slow progressing
disease, and most men only die once they have reached old age. Because the prostate is in close
proximity to other organs, it also causes dysfunction in urination, fertility, sexuality, and bowel
movements. This cancer is more common in African American men ages 40 and up.
Symptoms of Prostate Cancer include:
Disruptions in urinary function,
Blood in urine or semen
Stiffness in thighs or in the lower lumbar region of the back.
Direct causes for prostate cancer are still unknown, but characteristics such as age, ethnicity, and
family history can been studied to be serious factors. It is recommended that men should start getting
tested for Prostate Cancer between the ages of 40 and 50. Prostate Cancer comes in two forms,
localized and metastatic. The localized disease comes in stages T1 through T4, and the metastatic
disease comes in stages N1 and M1. If the cancer is caught early enough it can be effectively treated.

Dating Online Essay
When navigating a dating app or website, searching and filtering tools allow daters to be more
selective when finding a partner online than offline. Many enter the experience prepared with a
desirable shopping list of characteristics and qualities a potential partner must have. source? There is
little opportunity to reveal information gradually and check for reciprocity along the way. Instead,
reciprocity is determined prior to any communication. Many potential partners who would be given

Online dating functions best to the degree that it introduces people to potential partners they would
have been unlikely to encounter otherwise and facilitates a rapid transition to face to face interaction,
where the two people can get a clearer sense of their romantic potential. As online dating evolves and
matures, it seems likely that more and more of us will first encounter romantic partners online.
Live interaction is a complex, multifaceted process with an essence that cannot be fully captured by
CMC (Computer Mediated Communication). In online dating, users are wise to engage in CMC
briefly to assess basic levels of romantic potential and then move rapidly to face to face interactions.

The way people view human interaction will determine whether they go online to seek relationships or
not. Jaron Lanier, a founder of the field of virtual reality, made a similar point about social networking
sites, describing them as dehumanizing and fostering shallow interactions and a fakey fakey social life
(Kahn, 2011, p. 46). Relationships are most satisfying when partners adopt a communal orientation,
responding mutually to each other s needs and preferences (Clark et al., 2010), rather than an

A Long Walk to Freedom
A Long Walk to Freedom
This extract is an autobiography by Nelson Mandela talking about the transition from a small

exhausting walk. Even the word walk co notates to the, strive for the attainment of freedom and rights

All these horrific visions illustrated and the bitter, harsh words of truth leave an undying, unbelievable
and undeniable impact on the reader. The words pierce through our ears, almost allowing us to feel the
pain. It arouses a number of questions in our minds especially due to the irony, and great sympathy for
the Africans. Yet, the young adults are only more and more quiet and more and more angry. By these
repeated comparatives, the writer contrasts their present feeling of resentment to their mood of
celebration earlier. All the words are slowly seeping in but it only made them rather cross as they
thought the chief was being selfish and ignorant, in his abusive comments, since he was not noticing
the positive side the whites brought them value of the education and the moral cultures and etiquettes

the benefactor. In all, the only thing the chief ended up doing was spoiling the proud feelings with
wrong headed remarks, for the teenagers.
Gradually, the pace slows and there is growth of mental maturity and realization as the true meaning
of the chief s words began to seep in Mandela s mind. The real essence of the words had sown a seed
to the development of a potential future, although it had been dormant for a long season. Now, the

The growth of drum and bugle corps in America
Classic drum and bugle corps are musical ensembles that descended from military bugle and drum
units returning from the first World War and subsequent wars. Traditionally, drum and bugle corps
served as signaling units as early as before the American Civil War, with these signaling units having
descended in some fashion from ancient drum and fife corps. However, a modern drum and bugle
corps are a musical marching ensemble consisting of brass and percussion instruments, synthesizers,
and a color guard. Drum corps perform in parades, festivals, and other civic functions, but primarily

These thirteen pioneer corps were unhappy with the strict immutable rules and regulations of the
American Legion and the VFW (veterans of foreign wars) who were the primary sponsors for the
corps and shows at the time. The Thirteen DCI member corps found new sponsors, hosts, and
appeared in a hand full of competitions which helped to grow their popularity and build an audience.
In August of
1972, the first annual DCI world championship competition was held at Warhawks Stadium on the
campus of University of Wisconsin Whitewater with 39 corps from 15 states and one
Canadian province in competition. DCI has since constructed their headquarters in Indianapolis
Indiana, where the annual world championships have been held at Lucas Oil Stadium since 2009 and
is charted to be the host of the competition through 2028. From the thirteen founding drum and bugle
corps which consisted of around ninety or fewer members per corps , DCI has grown to its now forty
six member corps with a limit of 150 members per corps and an age range from
13 to 22 years old. The DCI organization has grown their audience from the small last minute
audience at the first championship competition to the over 400,000 fans that attend live events last
year during the summer DCI tour, not to mention the fact that the championship finals were
broadcasted on PBS starting in 1975 and by ESPN2 from 2006 to 2007. Despite the finals sadly no

Malden Mills Ethical question
June 25, 2009
Aaron Feuerstein greeted the brisk New England morning of December 11th, 1995 with unusual
optimism, especially for a man almost seventy years old. After all Malden
Mills was the last of the New England garment factories, and a century old family business besides!
Known as the leading innovator, producer, and marketer of branded, high quality performance textiles
for the outdoor products industry may require a much younger man he mused. Little did he know that
before the day ended he would be faced with the biggest decision in Malden Mills history.

Corporate social responsibility emphasizes the participation of the organization in a larger society and
its responsibility to support good causes. It emphasizes corporate citizenship, philanthropy, and
community support and recognizes community based obligations and responsibilities.
Feuerstein has an impressive record of philanthropy in the community, having supported a number of
groups, activities, and religious organizations. From Malden Mills he has provided blankets and
garments for homeless children in the New York area, for relief efforts to Kurdish refugees, displaced
persons in Kosovo and numerous other disaster areas around the world. In August 1999, the company
donated 2,000 Polartec fleece blankets for Turkish relief following a devastating earthquake. Later that
year the spirit of giving continued with the donation of 150 Polartec Wellness Hats to ovarian cancer
patients. Where did Feuerstein get his extraordinary ideas about worker management relations and
corporate responsibility? Feuerstein, an Orthodox Jew, draws from the religious tradition of The
Golden Rule Model, which states that one should always treat other people in the same way he or she
would want to be treated. In other words, when confronted with any ethical issues, each individual

Summary Of The Wealth Of Nations By Adam Smith
In the passage given, Adam Smith examines the different methods that can increase the production of
land and labour. He discusses that production can be raised by using the methods of, division of labour
and capital accumulation. Smith also provides evidence throughout The Wealth of Nations, proving
that his method of labour division is the best way to develop the economy. The key behind Smith s
writing is to prove how division of labour will improve economic progress.
Initially, Smith proposes the idea of division of labour in the workplace. Division of labour is the
separation of tasks to its rawest form, broken into specializations. He believes that this is the key to
increase productivity and used the pin factory example to prove it. ... Show more content on

This allows for employees to work more efficiently since it helps them complete the task with ease.
Along with the growth model, Smith attempts to prove that a market system is self regulating. He
explains how the first step to a self regulating system is self interest. As humans, we thrive off of
profit or any method of material gain from goods and services. This self interest is what initiates the
system. The presence of competition keeps any one business from dominating the market. When there
are multiple sellers of a good or service, consumers will often purchase the one that they can get at a
more affordable price. This keeps competitors from raising their prices to gain a higher profit, since
the consumer most often opts for the lowest priced item. The last factor to the self regulating system
states that, changing desires of society lead producers to increase production of wanted goods and to
diminish the production of goods that are no longer as highly desired (Heilbroner 50). Therefore,
businesses must keep advancing their products in order to maintain relevance in the market. Society
has expectations that business must achieve, hence they must have an ongoing development in their
goods and service that adjust to the needs of the consumer. If they fail to do so, the product becomes
obsolete, which causes businesses to shut down. Smith s theories about the economy are based on the
assumption that all humans follow the rule of natural

Abortion, Pro Choice, And Pro Life
One of the most controversial topics in America is abortion. In medical terms, an abortion is the
premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus
(Medicine Net). All around the world, the practice of abortions has been widely used to control a
woman s reproduction. The polarizing, emotional debate on abortion has been an ongoing issue that
still exists today. People s different perspectives and opinion on whether or not abortion is immoral
continue to divide America into two groups: Pro choice and Pro life . However, pro life advocates tend
to focus more on the fetus rather than how abortion and programs have actually benefited the mother
and families. There is hypocrisy in people who identify themselves as pro life and the word itself can
be misleading as it does not align with the true values of protecting a life. Over the years, technology
has changed the way medical procedure performs and has made abortion a safer option for women in
all social and economic groups. During the 1880s, there were many surgical procedures that were
found dangerous and risky for patients. Health professions and other people who were committed to
providing abortion to women were not equipped with safe and sanitary surgical tools. They lacked
skill, knowledge, and proper concern in abortion, which resulted in a significant number of deaths and
severe health consequences for women. Groups such as the American Medical Association

Thomas Cranmer s Presence In The Eucharist
It has been widely contended that Thomas Cranmer s thoughts on the presence of Christ in the
Eucharist had wavered throughout his time as a theologian, and that his writings are somewhat
ambiguous when it comes to addressing this important theological topic. Many academics agree that
Cranmer is not overly notable for his clarity in writing and concede that this ambiguity, especially on
writings of the presence in the Eucharist, is due to the long and uneven evolution of his understanding
of the presence. According to Daniel Marrs, a biographer was once quoted in saying that Cranmer was
a man of liberal sympathies and a man of extraordinary charm and goes on to say that Cranmer s
abilities as a leader was questionable at best because Cranmer s ... Show more content on

He still felt that the presence of Christ was within the Eucharist, and conceded his reluctance to admit
to transubstantiation in a letter to Thomas Cromwell. In the letter, Cranmer admitted that he found the
anti transubstantiation writings of Adam Damplip to be quite compelling. This was quite a position for
Cranmer to take, considering he was at one time so fervent in his position on transubstantiation that he
was responsible for eleven of the executions of people who refuted the belief in the real blood and
body presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In Cranmer s True and Catholick Doctrine of the Sacrament
Cranmer describes a spiritual presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This moved away from the
Zwinglian theory of memorialism (which Cranmer did explore briefly) and was more cohesive with
the Calvinist view. He says that those who worthily eat and drink of the bread and wine receive his
spirit within the sacrament. He determined that there was a two fold presence of Jesus Christ within
the Eucharist and described the figurative presence that occurs when the consecrator repeats the words
of Christ at the last supper to remind us of Christ s sacrifice and that the spiritual presence exists for
those who worthily eat and drink. In the prayer book of 1549 we are permitted a glimpse of the real
presence and spiritual presence debate that was

The Rest Cure Analysis
The Rest Cure: The Man Doctor Knows Best In the story of The Yellow Wallpaper , by Charlotte
Perkins Stetson, a woman is put in the Rest Cure. This so called cure is intended to help with her in
her depressed state, instead, she is drawn into madness. This situation is further perpetuated by her
egotistical husband, who s superior wisdom prevents him from truly helping to improve his wife s
condition. Part of this is subconsciously done by John, since he is a doctor, he believes he is more
intelligent and because of this, he knows what is best. This superior wisdom along with his
patronizing nature as a husband, leads John to misjudge the severity of his wife s illness, and creates a

continues to dismiss her feelings as mere fantasies. He also treats her as if she were one of his patients,
instead of how a loving husband should treat his wife. Due to the neglect on Johns behalf, she
becomes more withdrawn and obsessive about the wallpaper in her room. This could be due to lack of

Vindication Of Woman
The Vindication of the Rights of Woman postulates a revolutionary idea certainly for the era in which
it was published that in the struggle for the rights and equality of man, one must also give such heed to
the rights of women. Mary Wollstonecraft adheres to the fact that the more specious slavery which
chains the very soul of woman, keeping her forever under the bondage of ignorance is the cornerstone
of a system of female inequality during the eighteenth century. In this essay, I will focus on the
statement:
Would men but generously snap our chains, and be content with rational fellowship, instead of slavish
obedience, they would find us more observant daughters, more affectionate sisters, more faithful
wives, more reasonable mothers in a word, better citizens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst not literally true, the symbolic language which Wollstonecraft uses, forces the reader to
understand the man/woman relationship as purely hierarchical; man has dominion over his wife, his
mother and daughter, perhaps even other women. Wollstonecraft likens the woman as property where
all are aiming to procure respect on account of their property: and property, once gained, will procure
the respect due only to talents and virtue . Such a relationship must seem harsh to the modern reader.
However, Wollstonecraft s dichotomy of husband to wife with owner to slave is nothing further than
the application of household duty. Controversially, Wollstonecraft believes True happiness, I mean all
the contentment, and virtuous satisfaction that can be snatched in this imperfect state, must arise from
well regulated affections; and an affection includes a duty , referring to the mothering role of the wife,
as the father looks on to appreciate his child being nursed. This duty it seems, are the chains that

Karma Of Hinduism And Western Culture
Karma in Hinduism Western Culture Karma is a well known term that has been used throughout the
ages. Though it was first used through Hinduism, people from all over the world and from different
cultures have all learn its definition and use it in their daily lives. While in Hinduism, karma is a
normal part of their lives and path to God, but in Western culture, karma is normally welcomed when
there is revenge to be had or a reward to be received. In some cases it could be both. In Hinduism,
karma is basically cause and effect. It leaves no room for chances and depends heavily on personal
responsibility, so no saying that an event happened by luck, good or bad (Huston 64). This idea can
sometimes lead other outside the religion and few in to relate it to fatalism, but to Hindus that
understand it, it is not like fatalism at all (Huston 65). For them, karma allows for you to make choices
freely, but with each choice does come consequences, but not every consequence is bad. It is all
choices and consequences are all based of what the soul or jiva wanted(Huston 65). The actions of a
jiva, or the choices it makes, will all lead to an eventual life of repetition of wanting more out of life,
but if it can see past the game that it is and insteads goes after something infinite and eternal, then will
the jiva fill more complete (Huston 66). For Hindus, karma is just another part of their lives but does
not bring fear to them. Meanwhile, in western societies, karma is many times

Violence And The Inner City Code
The Bond connects to a lot of information from our textbook and class discussions. To begin with,
article 28 in our textbook titled Violence and the Inner City Code relates to this book. For instance, the
article talks about how by simply living in such an environment such as the inner city; young people
are put at special risk of falling victim to aggressive behavior. This was shown in the section of The
Bond written by Sampson. He tells a story that between the summer of his junior and senior years of
high school him and his friends got the idea of robbing drug dealers to make some quick money. In
order to do this, they preyed on young drug salesmen, pulling a gun on them, taking their money, and
driving off. The plan worked for a little while, but then fell through. While they were robbing
someone, two policemen walked up. Sampson pretended to by a bystander while his friends tried to
outrun the police. They failed, and ended up being detained. Sampson ran home and told his older
sister everything, which then made him call the cops the next day. Soon enough, Sampson ended up
serving four weeks at the Essex County youth house (106 107). Just because Sampson lived where he
did, he got drawn into aggressive behavior and ended up paying for it. The article in the textbook also
states that there are often forces that can counteract the negative influences by far the most powerful is
a strong, loving, decent family committed to middle class values. This was

Communism And The Communist Manifesto
In this paper, I propose that the Communist Manifesto has only a weak correlation to current world. To
prove this, I will explore four key factors. First, I will summarize Communism and the foundation of
the Communist Manifesto using the designated class study materials. I believe that it is essential for
the reader to have a baseline upon which I will then explain my position. I will also explore how
Religion relates to the concept of universal justice in society and how it plays into the communist
manifesto. I will then analyze the impacts that technological evolution has had in society and show
that it does not always benefit mankind. Finally, I will conclude with a summary of the strengths and
weaknesses of the manifesto as it relates it to the present world.
Communism was a political view point that was invented by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Marx
and Engels meet in 1844 and just 4 years later in 1848 they wrote and published, The communist
Manifesto . The goal was to detail the historical development that would lead to a post capitalist
society. They wanted capitalism to die because they believed social classes would lead to world
disaster. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned and man is at last compelled to face
with sober senses his real conditions of life and his relation ions with his kind (pg10 manifesto). Then
the manifesto details the foundation of a revolutionary struggle where the Proletariat (the workers) to

Essay On New Orleans
New Orleans is located in Southeastern Louisiana. The last recording of the population in New
Orleans was in 2013. The population was 378,715. But before that, the population was at 495,080. The
massive decrease in population just one effect of the devastating flood that occurred in 2005. In 2005
the population was 208,508. At that time New Orleans was 287 years old. It was founded in 1718.
New orleans is a subtropical climate with nice year round weather. The weather changes from the mid

It has housing, hospitals, and school, etc. We have a lot of abandoned buildings in New Orleans
because of the flood, the population dropped so a lot of people didn t go shopping so store owners had
to close their shop. So we decided to renovate them into modern things. Like the Charity Hospital. It is
a million square feet in the middle of the city. We can renovate that into a more modern Charity
Hospital. A Charity Hospital would be best because there are a lot of people that don t have insurance
or a health care provider so they depend on Charity Hospitals. Either that or let there be free health
insurance. Anyway, there are also a lot of residential places in New Orleans so the population is
average. If there is a lot of residentials that means there is a decent amount of children in the city. So
that means there is a lot of schools. But, because of the flood the schools drop with the population. So
lots of kids education was getting messed with. So some of the other abandoned places like the
Lalaurie Mansion can be turned into a kindergarten through 5th grade school. There are a lot more
abandoned buildings and we can fix them or completely changed into something better and more

  • 2. Analysis of Romance of Resistacne by Lila Abu-Lughod The Romance of resistance is an article which is written by Lila Abu Lughod in regard with the different forms of resistance among the Bedouin women and the traditional structure of power among the Bedouin Community in the Egypt s Western Desert. She arrived in late 1970 to begin a fieldwork, and she discovered different forms of resistance among the Bedouin women. In this Article she emphasis on how the Bedouin women resisted the decision of their fathers, uncles, and older brother, how the resisted the sexually segregation, and sexually irreverent discourse. Furthermore, it also talk about how local communities are being incorporated into modern states and integrated into a wider economy. The first one is sexually segregated, since the community is rule and influence by man particularly elder so it led to Defiance and women merely take the advantage of secretly like meeting friends or visiting healer and even sometimes smoking secretly. This shows how women are restricted. The second form of resistance is girls and women resistance to marriages. Where women have no control over the arrangement of the marriage but only elder man or relative like uncle and father decide even they were intimidate and force to marry a person older in age than them. But sometime girl s mother take stands and refuse the male decision as author mentioned the story of her host that the mother refused the decision of his husband in regard with marriage of her daughter. • 3. The Importance Of STEM In Education What is STEM? Despite the growing push for STEM, it is not well understood; there is little consensus about what it is, how to integrate STEM into classroom instruction, and how STEM learning can be assessed (Brown et al., 2011; Huntley, 1998; Pitt, 2009). Stakeholders who are interested in promoting STEM are often confused by the construct. These stakeholders include government officials who are funding STEM initiatives, teachers who are expected to teach STEM, parents, businesses who need to invest in their future employment, and students (Breiner et al., 2012). Although many studies have shown that teachers recognize the importance of STEM education, educators do not consistently agree or understand what STEM education should be like in K 12 education (Wang et al., 2011). In a study by Brown et al. (2011) less than half of the teachers and administrators correctly defined STEM as education involving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Brown et al. (2011) mentioned that this may be an overestimate given that (a) some participants did not understand the meaning of STEM and used the Internet to research it and some teachers and (b) administrators revealed that they chose not to participate because they did not know about STEM. Even higher education faculty who are involved in STEM projects had varying definitions or conceptualizations of STEM (Breiner et al., 2012). Many of these faculty members conceptualized STEM as individual STEM disciplines, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Travesti Sex Workers in Brazil Student s Name Professor s Name Course Date Travesti Sex Workers in Brazil Introduction Travestility in Brazil has been used to refer to the disparateness of travestis identities. On the other hand, travesti is an emic idea widely used in Latin America and Brazil. Scholars argue that trying to explain who travestis are can seem paradoxical, especially when travesti identities are talked about as heterogenous, plural and multiple. Travestis are individuals who change their physical appearance to make it look like a woman s body. Travestis dress and live their daily life as people belonging to the female gender group, without the desire to undergo reconstructive surgery of removing the penis and constructing a vagina. Their practices, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps it would have been a different situation, if they were actually women who are acting and thinking like men. According to travesties, being of the primary gender (biologically male), thinking and behaving like women is unacceptable because it downgrades one s gender status. On the contrary, being biologically female, behaving and thinking like men is upgrading and heroic. In this sense, being like a girl has been a challenge since childhood for travestis. They always feared that people would find out and shame them in the society. While peculiarly following their unimpressive path in the society, of desiring women and experiencing sex, travesti subjectivity is generated out of their apprehensive relationships with their untrustworthy boyfriends. Within this subjectivity, travestis efforts to show themselves within the normal boundaries of the Brazilian society strengthen the gender binary. In their relations with their boyfriends, they act like nothing else other than females. Similarly, in their profession, they play the role of a female or male depending on the demands of the situation by swapping between the binary gender roles. Travesti subjectivity comes into the limelight with normative gender binary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The History of Prison Reform The History of Prison Reform Introduction The evolution of prison reform is a reflection of society s changing attitudes toward crime and punishment. Prisons have progressed from simple places for incarceration where the primary purpose is to protect the public to instruments of punishment where the loss of freedom is penalty for breaking the law, to institutions for reform dedicated to mould the guilty to conform to society s norms. Prisons were among the first public buildings erected in the New World. The city of Boston felt the need of a house of detention when the town consisted of a mere forty homes. Early American prisons were not conceived as houses of punishment. In English and American law, political prisoners and high ranking prisoners of war were occasionally incarcerated, but few common criminals could expect such treatment. Almost the only time commoners were locked away was while awaiting trial, once a verdict was delivered, they were punished on the spot or released (Lynch, 2011). The eighteenth century transformed not only the physical form of prisons but their function and their place in American consciousness. Discussion Initially imprisonment was a means of detaining debtors to ensure payment, the accused before trial, or the guilty before punishment. Courts imposed sentences including fines, personal mutilation such as flogging or branding, or death (Johnson, 2011). The only offense for which long term imprisonment was common was debt, though ... • 6. Epilogue To Dayron ote: This was originally with A Burning Wish but I thought since Dayron s part didn t really go with the title, I decided it could have it s own story. 7) A TICKING CLOCK He watched, his view blurry from the tears, as his uncle s bird flew from it s box. The room was covered by hot fire but it didn t touch Dayron. Instead, it covered Mama and Dayron only got the heat of the fire. There was no sound, apart from Mama s heavy breathing. Dayron looked at his uncle and saw that a scary smile had appeared on his face. Why is he smiling? Mama needs help. He needs to help her. He needs to hurt this mean bird, like it s hurting Mama. That s what they do in the stories. The Hero always helped people especially girls, so why wasn t Uncle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Uncle opened the door to Mama s room. Dayron looked at the bed. Mama wasn t there. He turned to face his uncle who was picking up a little clock which was making a ticking noise a noise which Dayron always copied whenever he was in Mama s room. Mama isn t here. said Dayron, he thought maybe she would be. Then he could wake her up and tell her about the mean bird and the black log. You just saw what you re eyes weren t supposed to see. said Uncle, holding the clock in two hands now. Dayron was confused. What wasn t he supposed to see. The black log? The bird? • 7. The Silence Of The Lambs Comparison As the Halloween season approaches, many horror films start to come to life. When they do, they spread immense fear to those who want a good scare. Red Dragon, the second film amongst the Hannibal Lecter series, is a movie that will not disappoint. It s a classic tale of good vs. evil, and a test to see who can outsmart the other. In a case so tight, will the good guys finally prevail? Although the chase seems never ending, and too complicated to solve, it makes for some great entertainment that will keep us on our toes. With a movie so jampacked with excitement, it s hard to believe that people still prefer the first film, The Silence of the Lambs. Despite the comparison, the director, Brett Ratner, does a brilliant job of piecing the Red ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They say it s because The Silence of the Lambs was the first movie of the Hannibal Lecter series to be aired. But how can we compare based on which one came out first? Although it may be the first, the events that took place in The Silence of the Lambs theoretically happened after the Red Dragon, thus making Red Dragon the prequel. The Silence of the Lambs stars Jodie Foster, who plays an F.B.I agent in pursuit of yet another serial killer, and surprise surprise, seeks the help of Hannibal Lecter. Sound familiar? Although both plots are practically the same, one slightly outshines the other. Red Dragon does a good job of focusing on the details. Although Silence was the first film, it was never mentioned how Hannibal Lecter was put behind bars. Red Dragon takes that focus and shows us exactly how and whom was able to defeat the unstoppable murderer. There is also a big difference in character development for the killers in both movies. In Silence, the killer is ruthless, but we don t get to see how he became that way. However, in Red Dragon, the killer is unrelenting, but we get to see his back story, and in the end we almost have sympathy for him. Both films are very well made thrillers, but it doesn t mean that the first is better than the second. The film with fine tuned details and a more likeable serial killer should come out on ... • 8. Swac Research Paper The Southwestern Athletic Conference has given the NFL, the SWAC has given the league nothing. Have the SWAC and HBCUs lost their swagger? To get a handle on this, consider that Alabama had four players drafted in the first round this year, a number equal to players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities taken in the last two years all four coming from the Mideastern Athletic Conference. The only player taken this year was Christian Thompson, a safety from South Carolina State selected in the fourth round by the Baltimore Ravens. Since 2005, only five SWAC players have been drafted. The landscape of college football has changed so dramatically, it would appear to be unfair to today s SWAC athletes to compare their situation to those of players three decades ago. Hampering contemporary players is too many options to play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strahan always sought out HBCU players when he played for the Giants. He d look for a Donald Driver and Lewis Tillman was already in New York when he got there. And then there was the pregame ritual that kept him grounded. Even in the heyday of the SWAC, when a kid was drafted he was considered a project. Their coaching and individual techniques dismissed as they more times than not were drafted on pure physical attributes. The most common term used in evaluations.Strahan said. But how many of those so called polished players turned out to be horrible football players? I think it s about the heart of the guy and about the commitment of the player. I don t know. Sigmund Freud invented Psychoanalysis, which is the theory and therapy of treating people who suffer from nervous disorders by researching the unconscious mind that makes us repress or push our urges and desires. From Psychoanalysis, stems Psychosexual development, which believe that from birth humans experience sxual energy going through five stages in their life. This theory could have inspired the two researchers between the late 1950s and early 1960s, William H. Masters and his partner, Virginia E. Johnson. Despite of all the data Masters and Johnson collected, Shere Hite was one their criticizer, who strongly believe there was some faults in the information they wrote about females and orgasms. The following questions will answer the confusion about sexuality: What is Psychosexuality and how does it impact Masters and Johnson s work? Does animals prove the Human Sexual Response cycle? Does Hite highlight the flaws in the Human Sexual Response? Therefore, Masters and Johnson s human sexual cycle is accurate because it efficiently sorts the physiological changes for all creatures. Psychosexuality Animals and the human sexual response. In the empirical article, What Can Animal Models Tell Us About Human Sexual Response? eas done by James G Pfaus, Tod E. Kippin, Genaro Coria Avila explains the Human Sexual Response done by sex researchers, William Masters and Virginia Johnson. The Human Sexual Response is a four stage model that has to do with physiological responses of sexual stimulation. The question the focuses on was what can animal models tell us about human sexual response and the hypothesis they focus on to examine how it causes desire and how sexual stimulation. • 10. Passenger Pigeon Audubon Passenger Pigeon , written by John James Audubon, is the author s account of the passenger pigeon, a bird species prominent in North America until it became extinct. The scientific work begins with a rich description of the passenger pigeon. After describing the pigeon, Audubon changes topics, as he begins to discuss a personal story involving the bird. The structure of content in Passenger Pigeon is a cycle, as Audubon goes from giving factual information to telling about his individual encounters with the bird. Audubon s story is summarized through his scientific descriptions of the pigeons and his stories of encounters with the passenger pigeon. Many scientific writers of the 1800s strictly appealed to factual information through logos. By appealing to logos, writers created representations of their research which could serve as stepping stones in the next generation of scientific experiments. Audubon also appeals to factual information, but he also appeals to ethos and pathos. By using multiple rhetorical appeals, he creates a story which is interesting both in scientific and literary manner. Audubon builds credibility through his personal stories, as he refers to himself as I, and he refers to the reader in more than one instance. This credibility allows him to have more freedom describing the passenger pigeon, as the level of comfort he creates through his informal diction allows him to use ethos effectively. Essay On Rolls Royce From the understanding of The Hayes and Wheelwright model of operations contribution (Slack, Brandon Jones, Johnston, Betts, July 2015, p. 44) we can conclude that during the period of 1960 Rolls Royce fell into the Internal Neutrality Stage (Slack, Brandon Jones, Johnston, Betts, July 2015) where their operations process was considered to be at the poorest stage as they did not contribute to any competition what so ever and their operation process did not fetch them any profits. Moreover at this stage, there is a serious lack of Product Innovation and Process Efficiency Management where the operations of the firm are not even considered as the source of revenue (Slack, Brandon Jones, Johnston, Betts, July 2015).We can confirm this from the case study where it was mentioned that Rolls Royce at 1960s ... • 12. White Man s Burden Speech Summary In the speech Effects of colonialism of Africa s past and present Dr. Motsoko Pheko believes that colonization of Africa was unhealthy for Africa. Europeans made Africa worse than what it was, they treated Africa as a money making place and didn t care if they had to kill people in order to do so.For example, Pheko states Africa has suffered the worst genocide and holocaust at the hands of the architects of slavery and colonialism (Pheko). This example of pathos demonstrates that Africans have been treated unfairly throughout the years. Europeans have tried to demolish Africa and tear into it as a toy, Africa s colonization turned Africa into a subhuman country. The use of the word worst genocide appeals to emotion by showing that Europeans treated Africans as less than human. Therefore Pheko uses pathos to advance his view that colonialism is unhealthy for Africa. ... Also, Yeats had a very interesting love life as a poet. It is very clear that he was an explanatory poet. Ones objective of this paper is to identify and discuss the significance of William Butler Yeats. However, the minority Yeats belonged to belonged to the Protestant, Anglo Irish minority that had controlled the economic, political, social, and cultural life of Ireland since at least the end of the seventeenth century. Most members of this minority considered themselves English people who merely happened to have been born in Ireland (The World Book Encyclopedia World Book, Inc.) Although he lived in London for fourteen years of his childhood, Yeats maintained his cultural roots. He was very confidential with himself as an artist. This conviction led many to accuse him of elitism, but it also help contributed to his greatness. Eighteen eighty five was an important year in Yeats early adult life, marking the first publication, in the Dublin University Review. The Legacy Of Abraham Cahan Jews have been lashed out on, time and time again throughout history, but one man who saw this hatred for Jews first hand and tried turning the tables, was a man by the name of Abraham Cahan. He is known as being the first prominent writer to emerge from the biggest wave of Jewish immigration from Russia, but he was much more than just a writer. He was an editor and critic of several New York newspapers, a sociologists reformer, and a teacher of English to many Jewish immigrants following in his footsteps. Cahan valued his Jewish religion, but not only that, he valued language and in particular English and Yiddish which he wrote in. This is just one battle in a continuous war against maintaining his religion, but he had a changing world around him tearing him apart from it. In this constant war, he ends up having to flee Europe in particular Russia, because he gets tangled in a mess involving an assassination attempt of the Czar. This journey leads him to America, where he is first greeted by the Statue of Liberty at Ellis Island. When Cahan came to America many things changed for him, he was forced to leave behind his old life and try his hardest to assimilate himself into American culture. He left behind many aspects of his culture, but was still able to continue on with many of them. One piece of his life that was hardest to maintain was his language. Although he held onto Yiddish, Russian, and Hebrew, he immediately had to learn English which soon became a large part of his career and what made him so astounding. America is said to be the home of the free, and this is what so many immigrants desired when coming to America, and Cahan was no exception. He was a tremendous aid to those immigrants by devoting the first years of his life in America to teaching English. While doing this, he also lectured and wrote articles on Jewish life in the city for countless New York magazines. Within these articles he answers many questions on tough arguments, mostly circled around religion. An example of one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Compare And Contrast King Poe Vs King Poe vs King When thinking of two short stories, The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat come to mind. The narrators of both these stories include suspense and bring about the effects on their minds throughout both stories. Evidently, there are many similarities and differences between them both. Between both narrators, they share the same point of view. However, one narrator seems to be angry while the other seems to be intimidated. The narrators of The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat similarly have first person point of view, however King s key difference of not being reliable results in suspense for that story. Both narrators from the story share a similarity of having first person point of view. To clarify, both narrators go through a hardship that they both tell throughout their story. Gary from The Man in the Black Suit faces his hardship through seeing that He was wearing a black three piece suit, and I knew right away that he was not a human being, because his eyes were the orangey red of flames in a wood stove (King 5). Through this quote, readers can infer by the use of the narrator s diction that he was intimidated by the man in the black suit. In addition, by the narrator s choice of I , it meant that the narrator was by himself during this hardship. The fearful tone that the narrator suggests helps contribute to the point of view used in the quote above. The structure of the story for the narrator to be lonely throughout his hardship makes the theme (bad things happen to good people) significant. Not to mention, during the story, the reader develops an inference that the narrator may not make it out of the situation alive. Comparatively, the narrator from The Black Cat has the same point of view as the narrator in The Man in the Black Suit. The husband in The Black Cat seems to believe that he is alone until he meets this cat named Pluto who genuinely loved him. The narrator faces a hardship when he says ...I knew that it had loved me, and because I felt it had given me no reason of offence; hung it because I knew that in doing so I was committing a sin... (Poe 2). Through this quote, readers can infer that the narrator had a problem mentally and according to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He discusses that production can be raised by using the methods of, division of labour and capital accumulation. Smith also provides evidence throughout The Wealth of Nations, proving that his method of labour division is the best way to develop the economy. The key behind Smith s writing is to prove how division of labour will improve economic progress. Initially, Smith proposes the idea of division of labour in the workplace. Division of labour is the separation of tasks to its rawest form, broken into specializations. This allows for employees to work more efficiently since it helps them complete the task with ease. Along with the growth model, Smith attempts to prove that a market system is self regulating. He explains how the first step to a self regulating system is self interest. As humans, we thrive off of profit or any method of material gain from goods and services. This self interest is what initiates the system. The presence of competition keeps any one business from dominating the market. When there are multiple sellers of a good or service, consumers will often purchase the one that they can get at a more affordable price. This keeps competitors from raising their prices to gain a higher profit, since the consumer most often opts for the lowest priced item. The last factor to the self regulating system states that, changing desires of society lead producers to increase production of wanted goods and to diminish the production of goods that are no longer as highly desired (Heilbroner 50). Therefore, businesses must keep advancing their products in order to maintain relevance in the market. Society has expectations that business must achieve, hence they must have an ongoing development in their goods and service that adjust to the needs of the consumer. If they fail to do so, the product becomes obsolete, which causes businesses to shut down. In medical terms, an abortion is the premature exit of the products of conception (the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta) from the uterus (Medicine Net). All around the world, the practice of abortions has been widely used to control a woman s reproduction. The polarizing, emotional debate on abortion has been an ongoing issue that still exists today. People s different perspectives and opinion on whether or not abortion is immoral continue to divide America into two groups: Pro choice and Pro life . However, pro life advocates tend to focus more on the fetus rather than how abortion and programs have actually benefited the mother and families. There is hypocrisy in people who identify themselves as pro life and the word itself can be misleading as it does not align with the true values of protecting a life. Over the years, technology has changed the way medical procedure performs and has made abortion a safer option for women in all social and economic groups. During the 1880s, there were many surgical procedures that were found dangerous and risky for patients. In the letter, Cranmer admitted that he found the anti transubstantiation writings of Adam Damplip to be quite compelling. This was quite a position for Cranmer to take, considering he was at one time so fervent in his position on transubstantiation that he was responsible for eleven of the executions of people who refuted the belief in the real blood and body presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In Cranmer s True and Catholick Doctrine of the Sacrament Cranmer describes a spiritual presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This moved away from the Zwinglian theory of memorialism (which Cranmer did explore briefly) and was more cohesive with the Calvinist view. He says that those who worthily eat and drink of the bread and wine receive his spirit within the sacrament. He determined that there was a two fold presence of Jesus Christ within the Eucharist and described the figurative presence that occurs when the consecrator repeats the words of Christ at the last supper to remind us of Christ s sacrifice and that the spiritual presence exists for those who worthily eat and drink. • 33. Karma Of Hinduism And Western Culture Karma in Hinduism Western Culture Karma is a well known term that has been used throughout the ages. Though it was first used through Hinduism, people from all over the world and from different cultures have all learn its definition and use it in their daily lives. While in Hinduism, karma is a normal part of their lives and path to God, but in Western culture, karma is normally welcomed when there is revenge to be had or a reward to be received. In some cases it could be both. In Hinduism, karma is basically cause and effect. It leaves no room for chances and depends heavily on personal responsibility, so no saying that an event happened by luck, good or bad (Huston 64). This idea can sometimes lead other outside the religion and few in to relate it to fatalism, but to Hindus that understand it, it is not like fatalism at all (Huston 65). For them, karma allows for you to make choices freely, but with each choice does come consequences, but not every consequence is bad. It is all choices and consequences are all based of what the soul or jiva wanted(Huston 65). The actions of a jiva, or the choices it makes, will all lead to an eventual life of repetition of wanting more out of life, but if it can see past the game that it is and insteads goes after something infinite and eternal, then will the jiva fill more complete (Huston 66). To begin with, article 28 in our textbook titled Violence and the Inner City Code relates to this book. For instance, the article talks about how by simply living in such an environment such as the inner city; young people are put at special risk of falling victim to aggressive behavior. This was shown in the section of The Bond written by Sampson. He tells a story that between the summer of his junior and senior years of high school him and his friends got the idea of robbing drug dealers to make some quick money. In order to do this, they preyed on young drug salesmen, pulling a gun on them, taking their money, and driving off. The plan worked for a little while, but then fell through. While they were robbing someone, two policemen walked up. Sampson pretended to by a bystander while his friends tried to outrun the police. They failed, and ended up being detained. • 35. Communism And The Communist Manifesto In this paper, I propose that the Communist Manifesto has only a weak correlation to current world. To prove this, I will explore four key factors. First, I will summarize Communism and the foundation of the Communist Manifesto using the designated class study materials. I believe that it is essential for the reader to have a baseline upon which I will then explain my position. I will also explore how Religion relates to the concept of universal justice in society and how it plays into the communist manifesto. I will then analyze the impacts that technological evolution has had in society and show that it does not always benefit mankind. Finally, I will conclude with a summary of the strengths and weaknesses of the manifesto as it relates it to the present world. Communism was a political view point that was invented by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Marx and Engels meet in 1844 and just 4 years later in 1848 they wrote and published, The communist Manifesto . The goal was to detail the historical development that would lead to a post capitalist society. They wanted capitalism to die because they believed social classes would lead to world disaster. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses his real conditions of life and his relation ions with his kind (pg10 manifesto). Then the manifesto details the foundation of a revolutionary struggle where the Proletariat (the workers) to rise up against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has housing, hospitals, and school, etc. We have a lot of abandoned buildings in New Orleans because of the flood, the population dropped so a lot of people didn t go shopping so store owners had to close their shop. So we decided to renovate them into modern things. Like the Charity Hospital. It is a million square feet in the middle of the city. We can renovate that into a more modern Charity Hospital. A Charity Hospital would be best because there are a lot of people that don t have insurance or a health care provider so they depend on Charity Hospitals. Either that or let there be free health insurance. Anyway, there are also a lot of residential places in New Orleans so the population is average. If there is a lot of residentials that means there is a decent amount of children in the city. So that means there is a lot of schools. But, because of the flood the schools drop with the population. So lots of kids education was getting messed with. So some of the other abandoned places like the Lalaurie Mansion can be turned into a kindergarten through 5th grade school.
