Talent Imitates, Genius Steals: Four Chapters on Being Creative in the Digita...edward boches
Thoughts on being creative and finding inspiration. Four chapters: creativity matters more than ever; there's no such thing as an original idea; learn to steal and remix; dissect the formulas in ideas that work. I should note that while the statement in this title has been attributed to Picasso, Oscar Wilde and others, I stole it from Faris Yakob, who has used it for years. Thank you, Faris.
This presentation covers how to identify:
• What your audience wants to know that your organization can tell them
• How to combine what’s most popular today, past favorites that are still relevant, and the “next big thing” in your topics
• How often you should be publishing, and to which channels

How ANYONE can make insanely better slidesSean Johnson
My wife was showing me slides from a meeting she recently attended. I’m sure the material was great, but I didn’t read to find out. The slides literally made my eyes bleed.
Between my time as a partner at an early stage venture fund and a digital consulting company, I effectively live in Keynote. Creating proposals, reading pitch decks, making presentations.
I am convinced great slide-making is a tremendous skill to develop. It will make your internal presentations more persuasive. It will help you win more business or close that round of funding. It will accelerate your career.
You’ve no doubt seen gorgeous presentations at conferences and other events, but don’t know how to make them.
But you don’t need to know how to make those kinds of presentations for your day job. What you need are some simple tips for polishing up your decks. Making copy more readable. Making tables and charts more useful. Telling the story you’re trying to tell.
This deck is my attempt to help you with that. I hope you find it useful.

Tips and Tricks for Improving Your Brand with PhotographyHere's My Chance
We've all heard the saying "a photo is worth a thousand words." So what can this mean for your brand? When you post a photo it should directly reflect a part of who you are as a nonprofit. It is important to remember how much an image can carry, especially when sharing it with the world.
We also have to keep in mind that a photo can easily influence how much time a person is willing to spend on your website or reading your newsletter. When telling a story with photography as your medium your values should coincide.
Join Jessie Fox and Lansie Sylvia from Here's My Chance as they give a comprehensive overview of photography and how improving the finer points of an image can make a world of a difference to your websites, newsletters, email blasts, and more!

4. Our core values
• Founded in March 2011 to serve high-impact orgs
• Here’s My Chance (HMC) is a creative agency for
good – we work with clients we believe in!
• HMC empowers organizations to capitalize on the
influence of community, content, and social impact
• Using our creativity to make a positive impact on
the planet is a core mission and part of our
business model
8. Some things to consider
• 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual
• We process images 60,000x faster than text
• Irresistible images? Pointing arrows and directed gazes
• Our brains are wired to remember images better than names
15. WHAT DO THE PROS DO WELL?
• Understand their “end goal”
• Tell a story and follow a path/have a message
• Make it beautiful and designed to be shared
• Avoid special effects (3D is a no no!)
• Use colour, size, and position to help the reader
see what is important
19. Here’s what...
• PICK THE RIGHT DATA
• Not all data can be visualized well
• PICK THE RIGHT VISUALIZATION
• Try different types and see what works best
• KEEP IT SIMPLE
• The more details you put in there, the harder it is
to digest – simplicity is key!
• MATCH THE FORM TO THE CHANNEL
• Make sure your visuals are easily shareable on
the main media channels you broadcast on
29. Visualization time!
1. Introduce yourselves!
Go around the table and introduce yourself with
your name, organization, and position.
2. Pick your data point.
Remember to keep it simple and fact-based. Need
help? Ask your table-mates or HMC staffers!
3. Pick your visualization method.
Which method fits your data point the best?
4. Get going and embrace spontaneity!
Use the materials at your table to cut, glue, and
draw your data. There are no mistakes!
30. Photo + social media
• Take a photo with Jessie!
• HMC’s photojournalist is here to take a
professional photo of you with your
project.
• Use it on social media.
• Remember, visuals get shared and “liked”
more. Share this photo on social media
and don’t forget to tag @UACoalition and
@HMCTwit with #CoalitionU.
• Include it in your newsletter.
• Show constituents how you’re learning
new ways to communicate your impact,
needs, and outcomes!
32. Upcoming events &

Website
