Personal Statement:
I am currently studyingLevel 3 Creative Digital Media atYork College, with a view to specialisingin filmnext
year.
After finishingmy coursein Summer 2020 I’m hopingto gain a placein the industry and continueto build on
my skillswith a long-term goal of a position in directingdramas and film.
For as longas I can remember I’ve wanted to do something creativewith my life – most prominently in the
medium of film,bringingstories to life.For me, directingis the way to do this and currently my bi ggest
aspiration.I particularly admirethe work of directors such as Edgar Wright, and Stanley Kubrick and their
ability to bringstories to life.
I enjoy analysingwhatmakes my favouriteshows and movies tick, particularly Broadchurch,Luther and
Hotfuzz.
I’m always lookingfor new opportunities to expand on my understandingand to build on my skills. In the
future I would liketo use my skills in directingto promote a broader range of lead characters,as I’msaddened
by the lack of opportunities for diversegroups of people, especially when I think of some of my favourite
characters.I would also lovefor there to be greater representation of mental health, specifically areasthat
aren’t really touched upon e.g toxic-masculinity –the ideas that men can’t talk about their feelings becauseit
doesn’t fitinto the image that they feel they should be. But what I really loveto see in films and TV beyond
representation is a well-directed and told story – often playingon creative ways of tellinga story, compelling
visualsand usingthecamera to convey emotion and story...

Throughout the lastfew years I have broadened my experience in the media industry (both in and out of
education) I've worked in a wide range of software's, such as;

 Adobe After Effects

I currently work at Morrisons as a part-timecheckout assistant –which has given me experience of interacting
