Project proposal title and date:
Blue and Yellow 31/02/2020
Main area of activity:
Film (and maybe poster?)
Rationale:
Currently in this medium I feel a lot more confident progressively on set (not always being as
confident person around strangers and/or when presenting ideas that are very real to me), I’ve
also come to figure out a lot more about things work in perspective of filming, I've learnt how to
format scripts properly (with the help of software's – unlike when I originally planned and wrote the
first draft for this), not to mention I’ve become increasingly more confident in visual story telling an
blocking.
Previously before this I would take an interest in graphic design – more specifically digital art
(something I still do in my own time, just not the focus). I mainly would specialise in doing posters
or pre-existing films and franchises.
Project Concept:
My film will follow an artist struggling with his lifelong of achieving his art – due to his current
crumbling state of his mental health. In this he often confides in his (close and only) friend, who will
on one day choose to stick out for his neck out and give the protagonist the lifechanging
opportunity of setting him up with one of his friends – in a determination of preventing him from
being so illustrate and ‘ground him to reality’ - stop his wasting his time on art as it’s not working
out.
For this I will be researching into a lot of colour as I want this to play a huge part in my short-film -
such as emoting the character’s through their costumes or getting the colour grade to make the
world take on colours of a Van Gogh painting - supported by the fact that this is film about an artist
and it’s as if it’s their world. I also want to conduct personal interviews with people to help support
the character in my screenplay and make them seem more authentic. Furthermore, I want to be
able to figure out the best way of filming this prior.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
Through each week, I will be producing a weekly evaluation – reflecting on all the work I’d
produced for that week. I will also further do post-production evaluations; three people will evaluate
my product (including myself), I will also be doing further self-evaluation in – research, planning,
time management, technical and aesthetic qualities. By doing all this I will be able to push myself
to do more work from the pressure of the weekly diary, all whilst being able to improve my future
work through the rest of my evaluation – from previous mistakes I can learn and from previous
succes I can adopt.
