This year the author again attended the Aesthetica film festival in York and had a more positive experience than the previous year. Some of the films shown had more colorful stories, such as a documentary about a village in Africa with severe pollution problems that focused on the lives of the people. Another favorite was an animated short film about pollution in the sea that started normally but progressively showed that everything was made of trash. The author also attended master classes this year, including one by cinematographer Dick Pope, who provided some interesting insight but tended to ramble.

1. This year, we would again go to the Aesthetica film (hosted once every year in
York) and would be pleasantly surprised after my experience going last year.
Previously, I found myself notto be a fan of the films being displayed – feeling
joyless for the sakeof creating an easy attempt of emotion and sometimes what I
felt to be poorly told stories that lacked an end (believing that stories should be
progressivejourney fromstartfinish.) Though this year I would in majority see
that change, seeing a far more colourfulrange – such as the documentary abouta
village in Africawith the highest pollution problems in the world, yet it chooses to
focus on someon the life the people lead and use the pollution as a background
message; another film that I would come to really come love this year would be
the shortyet highly imaginative and vocalanimated shortfilm about pollution in
the sea, at the start everything seems normal, though as the film progresses we
startprogressively noticethat this wasn’tas it seems and everything of the sea
was made out of our rubbish – alternatively becoming for an artistic statement
than a shortfilm. Another thing I would come to experience this year is the
master classes, that I previously didn’tattend last year. For this we would see Dick
Pope, who’d present someof his stunning work and mildly interesting insight to
the industry of cinematography. However, I would quickly looseinterest as he’d
