China s Impact On Future Of Chinese Economy
China was one of the fastest growing economies after 2000. China s GDP grew at an average of 10%
from more than last decade with fast paced manufacturing and industrialization. Shanghai stock
exchange, biggest stock market in Chinese economy, kept on growing at fast pace, which recovered
quickly through global meltdown of 2007 and after 2014, it grew enormously, due to which it almost
doubled its value within a year. Increasing trend of Margin trading and overpriced stock prices gave
rise to a volatile bubble which finally burst in June 2015, which led this country to face the biggest
stock market crash of their history. We will try to analyze whole event, all the factors which
contributed to this Government supported fiasco and its impact on future of Chinese economy as well
as on the rest of the global economy.
After enjoying the continuous economic double digit growth rate, the Chinese government started
relaxing rules on Margin trading after 2013 and so. Communist party showed a dream to its people, of
being the strongest economy of world and they started motivating people to investing in stock
markets. Government directed state media to cheer lead its people and to encourage them to start
investing in stock market. These were some of the dangerous and blind optimistic steps taken by
Communist party which set up a perfect stage for a storm to come which blew apart every bit of stock
market.
Government s optimism boosted the confidence of every common man of China. People

Culture Jamming
With consumer culture rapidly increasing, commercialism is at its peak. Branding has become an
identity; the way the public defines itself and actively relies on it to express its beliefs and personality.
The consumerist community is heavily influenced by graphic designers through form of
advertisement, designed to reflect the mass media networks in a sophisticated manner. (J. Berger). A
study by Daniel Yankelovich shows that an individual living in a city 30 years ago, experienced
approximately 2,000 ads messages a day, compared to estimated 5,000 today (Yankelovich,). By
visually communicating a message, graphic designers influence society s decision making therefore,

political, and cultural values through televised commercial content and branded logos. Culture

the commercial aspect of the culture, to cause people to question the idea of trend and branding.

Santa Clause Creative Writing
Santa Clause leaned his head against the sled, letting out a long sigh. It had been a tough evening so
far. The northern hemisphere was down, but he still had one more hemisphere to go, and he had no

the kids on time or what if the kids begin to lose faith in me? So, he quickly picked up his reins and
gave them a slap, whoop, whoop, he called out to his reindeers, but exhaustion was creeping in. He
noticed the fluffy clouds taking the forms of little children and candy canes, train sets, and teddy

Comparing Tokyo And Auckland s Development
Cities located globally increase significantly through the process of urbanisation, temporally and
spatially. Through urbanisation, technology is a huge advancement for cities. The main technology
advancement is transportation. I have chosen to compare Tokyo with Auckland. I will discuss Tokyo
and Auckland s development (1880 1930), outlining pressures and opportunities created by technology
advancements and how Tokyo is caused by urbanisation, comparing with Auckland.
Tokyo s population is approximately 13.35million with rapid urban growth. The land area of Tokyo is
approximately 2,187km2. Tokyo was first established in 1869. Tokyo was originally named Edo
(small fishing village) in early 1800 s. Tokyo was a part of the Musashi Province development. The
early 18th century, there were not much transportation in Edo, including planes, trains and cars. The
main transport mode was walking, boats or horseback. Any cargo transported by people, oxen/horses,
were by large carts or traditional boats. The Edo period (1603 1868), Edo did not have carriages
drawn by horses compared to horse back carriages in Auckland. The main cause of cargo were by
boats. Other transport were palanquins (equivalence to taxicabs). Palanquins were used in the city to
transport people. Road networks were then a main pressure for Tokyo as to transport freight to long
distances between cities. The Tokugawa government started to develop road infrastructure, by
connecting highways between Edo and

Band Of Brothers
During the time of World War II, America fought to end the tyranny of Nazi Germany by using its
most valuable tool, the Easy Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne. The author Stephen Ambrose
catches a glimpse of what these heroic soldiers accomplished in his book Band of Brothers, by
providing readers with interviews of first hand encounters on the battlefields of Europe, from former
paratroopers that served in the 506th Regiment. Ambrose s book depicts how the spectacles of war
create everlasting scars on soldiers mentally and physically, that never fully heal. Ambrose admired
his father, whom was a physician and served in the Navy during World War II. This influenced
Ambrose to become like his farther, but he later became passionate with history, receiving his Ph. D.
from the University of Wisconsin. Ambrose admired the history of war and wanted to understand the
thoughts and emotions that ran through the paratroopers minds from Toccoa, where they trained for

Essay On Coast Guard
The Extreme Reserve Commute
The extreme commute imposed on reservists is detrimental to both the member and the unit. Upon
first entering into the Coast Guard Reserves, members are placed at units that are within a reasonable
commuting distance. By working and drilling close to their homes, reservists are able to easily
commute and actively participate in reserve drills and activities while still maintaining their busy
schedules in their personal lives. When the Coast Guard imposes a mandatory Permanent Change of
Station of members when they advance, most times to locations outside of their reasonable commuting
distance, and at the members financial expense, it creates unnecessary impacts for both the member
and the Coast Guard. As reserve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes many members to choose to either not want to advance or to unwillingly choose to be
placed in the IRR rather than accept orders. This is a great loss to both the Coast Guard and the
member. If members choose to depart, the Coast Guard now loses a valued member with training,
experience and subject matter expertise.
The Coast Guard has invested many hours of training and money in each Reserve member to try to
ensure that members are educated and capable of augmenting the Active component of the Coast
Guard and respond to emergencies as needed. The main purpose of the Coast Guard Reservists is to
train to deploy. It would be time and cost effective to be able to do that close to the members home.
The Coast Guard would benefit by retaining members at their current duty location instead of
transferring them upon advancing. At the Unit level, there would be a continuation of operations, for
the overall Coast Guard, the training and the money invested in preparing the member would not be
wasted. Members would be would be happier and continue to serve and be a productive member in the

Tribulation Paper
Sanctification does not happen without a deep motivation and drive from an outside source. There are
several areas in a Christian s life that can provide that motivation, for instance, Bible reading, the Holy
Spirit, and prayer. All of these are a great means of motivation but perhaps the greatest motivation is
the anticipation of the Lords return. The Bible is very clear that the rapture is coming, and that Christ
will return for his bridegroom. However, the Bible is less clear on when the church will be raptured in
relation to the tribulation period. There are a couple different thoughts on when the rapture will
happen, two of the most common are pretribulation and posttribulation. This paper is looking to define
the pretribulation view while taking a deeper look at the strengths and weaknesses this view has to
offer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the church was not removed before the tribulation, Christ would be focusing on Judgment for two
different groups of his children (Beware 220). A verse that helps support the distinction between Israel
and the church is Jeremiah 30:7, Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of
Jacob s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it. The reference to Jacob s trouble is a clear indication
that this period of wrath is not intended for the church but for Jacobs decedents. On another note, one
of the distinct differences between pretribulation and the other views considering the time of the
rapture is a literal method of interpretation. The pretribulation view holds to a literal interpretation of
the book of Revelation. Those who believe in posttribulation will interpret eschatology through
spiritualization or treat it historically. Pretribulation is the only view that consistently receives
information through a literal interpretation of scripture (Pentecost

Gender Discrimination During The Early Nineteenth Century
Would you believe me if I told you that there was a time that women were fired simply for getting
married, or that the wanted ads in the Sunday paper were separated according to gender? Gender
discrimination has been an ongoing battle in the work force for many decades, centuries even. Woman
have long fought to have equality in the work place and have come a long way. Unfortunately, gender
discrimination still exists in modern times and there is still a struggle for women when it comes to
equal rights obtaining a job, advancement from current positions, and the ability to earn an equal
salary to a male peer. History shows that for hundreds of years woman have been the minority in the
work force. A look back at the early nineteenth century shows that the United States was focused on
agriculture. During this time, women of all ages participated as workers in the family business without
an earned income. Their roles were to actively share in the families agricultural business without pay.
It was during the progress of industrialization that brought about the need for new jobs and employees.
While this led to a decrease of economic activity among married women, it increased the participation
of single women in paid labor prior to the year 1850. This was due to the new methods of production
which allowed for unskilled workers to take the place of skilled labor. Women who had worked as
servants for low pay quickly turned to mill towns where they could earn a higher income while

The War Of Camp Lewis
Prepare for war! That is what you hear and your heart stops while your jaw opens and you gasp for air
that is not there. While the history and establishment of Camp Lewis is not as important as preparing
for war, it is important to know the past in order to help posture and mold the future of tomorrow. The
idea for Camp Lewis was fought for by the civilian populace of Pierce County in Washington State.
Late in1916, as war continued to escalate in Europe, a private group of concerned citizens gathered at
American Lake to organize a training program designed for civilian personnel. The program was
designed to encourage readiness among the community in preparation for the possibility of going to
war in Europe. One of the attending civilians was a cadet named Stephen Appleby. Mr. Appleby (a
former Captain in the Minnesota National Guard) was vice president of the Northwest Business Men s
Preparedness League and a bank cashier for Tacoma Washington. He was informed that the Army was
sending out a survey team to the Northwest in search of establishing an Army Post. Mr. Appleby
contacted the commander of the survey team and asked him to make a site visit of the camp that the
community had established as possibility of use for the Army. Captain Richard Parks (Army survey
team commander) visited Pierce County as requested and found it to be impressive. Major General J.
Franklin Bell visited the area after hearing the recommendation of the site from

Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily Essay
Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a tragic tale of a Southern aristocrat, Miss Emily Grierson,
who is the subject of a town s obsession. The narrator, a member of the town, tells the story of what
transpires in a decaying old Southern house that is always under the watchful eye of the townspeople.
They witness Miss Emily s life, her father s death, her turn to insanity and the death of both her and
her lover. The theme of death runs throughout this tale, which is understandable considering the events
that take place in the story. Faulkner uses foreshadowing to foretell events that will transpire later in
the story. Because of this foreshadowing, a reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This description of Emily s hair is important, because one of Emily s hairs will be found next to
Homer s body, and it also shows how Emily is decaying like the house and items inside. Early in the
story Emily writes a letter on stationary of an archaic shape and with fading ink . The references here
are to the way she is always described growing older and decaying. Even Emily s house shares her
short squat characteristic and coquettish decay .
The insanity of Miss Emily is also foretold in A Rose for Emily. When the body of Homer is found in
her bed, the reader can understand that Emily killed him, because her mental stability had been
questioned a number of times. The narrator begins these allusions to her mental state when he tells
how the mayor, Colonel Sartoris, bestows a special tax exemption upon Miss Emily. Colonel Sartoris
makes up a story so unbelievable that it is described as so outlandish that only a woman could have
believed it . Later, the townspeople talk about her great aunt, the lady Wyatt, who had gone completely
crazy. They wonder about poor Emily with the insanity in her family. Her mental state comes into
question again when the town removes the body of her father. She is said to have broke down and
finally let them in to take and bury the body. This is an obvious analogy to her having a mental
breakdown. This is followed with the statement that the townspeople did

Gangs and Violence in The Prison System Essay
Gangs and Violence in the Prison System
Introduction
Gang violence is nationwide and is one of the most prominent problems in the prison system today.
Gangs are known to attempt to control the prisons/jails, instill fear within the prison system and
throughout the society, and bring negative attention to the system. Gang affiliated inmates comprise
about 18 percent of the 18000 inmate population. (Seabrook) A growing numbers of inmates and a
large amount of them serving longer sentences for violent crimes suggest a notable increase in gangs
and violence in the prison system in the upcoming future.

the mid to late ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to find a solution for the problem the prison system took and is still taking steps such as
classifying the gang members and other violent inmates as security threat groups (STG s). Both prison
officials and law enforcement agencies refer to gangs as STG s rather than gangs in order to take away
from the assumptions and exposure that the word gang gets. There are several ways of becoming
classified as a security threat group, such as self admission, known gang tattoos, confiscation of STG
paraphernalia, or information provided by an informant acknowledging the inmate as a gang member.
All known security threat groups are kept in single inmate cells known as administration segregation
to separate them from the rest of the inmate population, in hopes of reducing the amount of
communication between gang members and the amount violence. One problem with administration
segregation is a the amount of available space; the number of inmates classified as a security threat
group greatly exceeds the space available thus causing many prisons to keep STG s in the general
inmate population and putting only leaders of the gangs in administration segregation. The simple
decision of allowing the security threat groups to remain in the general inmate population increases
the probability of violence within the prison tremendously. The prisons have also implemented a

Using Software And Its Integration With Regular Cost...
Reports produced by an ABC system contain information, such as product margins, that vary from the
information reported for a traditional cost method. It s also possible that some activity based costs may
be irrelevant in certain decision making scenarios; for example, ABC does not conform to accounting
standards and should not be used for external reporting. Since traditional cost figures tend to be the
norm, interpreting ABC data along with regular accounting information can be confusing and lead to
bad decision making. The use of software can streamline the process of maintaining an ABC system
and simplify its integration with regular cost accounting information. (Eileen, nd.)
Even for smaller businesses, the implementation of an activity based costing system can be a
substantial undertaking. The added precision of the activity based system can only be achieved if the
small business owner is willing to put in the time to analyse the manufacturing process with enough
detail to determine how overhead costs are incurred. Due to the difficulty of implementation, many
small business owners don t believe the benefit of an activity based system outweighs the costs. (John,
nd.)
Other than ABC, balanced scorecard is also design for the change of the management accounting.
According to Olve and Sjèostrand (2002) a balanced scorecard is a format for describing activities of
an organisation through a number of measures for four perspectives: financial, customer, internal

The Conversions Of Augustine s Confessions
c Throughout Confessions, Augustine undergoes several conversions that lead to his final conversion.
Beginning when he was only a small child, Augustine experience his first conversion. Raised by a
Catholic mother and Pagan father, Augustine becomes attracted to searching for answers about God.
This conversion, which is a conversion of truth, continues to influence him throughout his second
conversion which takes place throughout his young adulthood. During this conversion, Augustine first
commits to the Christian beliefs intellectually and then shortly after, physically. Inevitably, the
answers and struggles that he experiences during his conversion of truth leads to his acceptance of the
Christian faith. After accepting this faith, Augustine undergoes a third conversion. This conversion is a
conversion of becoming a model of Christ. Augustine s book Confessions shows these conversions
and how they lead to his final conversion. Throughout Augustine s life, he experiences multiple
conversions with the earliest beginning when he was only a school aged boy. This conversion carries
over into his early adulthood and is a conversion of truth. During this time, Augustine becomes
attracted to the Christian beliefs and develops a curiosity for understanding who God is. Since
Augustine was born to a catholic mother, during his childhood he observed men praying and learnt to
do likewise. (Augustine, 11). Augustine practices this observance of prayer in his childhood and prays

If Beale Street Could Talk Analysis
Throughout If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin the main characters have to overcome the
challenges of racism, and the traits that go hand and hand with it, justice and prejudice, to realize what
they actually needed was the family love they already had. Even though there are many romantic and
even some graphic passages in the book, Baldwin mainly focuses on how they had to come together as
a family when Alonzo (Fonny) was in jail and awaiting trial. If Beale Street Could Talk is essentially a
story about the human capacity to love.
After Clementine s (Tish s) meeting with her immediate family, they call over Fonny s family to share
in the news that Tish is pregnant. During a normal situation this would be a happy occasion and the
couple would tell both families at once, together. However Fonny has been in jail for roughly three
months at this point, and Fonny s family, except for his dad Frank, are not excited about Tish being
pregnant. The Holy Ghost will cause that child to shrivel in your womb. But ... Show more content on

the man and Officer Bell was ready to arrest Fonny, mostly on the the bases that he is black (Baldwin
pgs. 135 138). She says she was raped by a black man, and so they put one black man in a lineup with
a whole lot of pale dudes (Baldwin pg. 182). During the time of racism the colored families had to
stick together. Through love and kindness Tish is able to keep him in his right mind while he is in jail.

Looking at a Woman
Women have made great advancements in improving their rights and roles within society and are now
less likely to be viewed as inferior by males. Nevertheless, they are still facing many challenges
including being perceived as objects and being expected to dress and behave a certain way. In his
essay Looking at Women, Scott Russell Sanders analyzes how men often perceive women as objects
because of their indecent wardrobe and their willingness to put their bodies on display. In her essay
Why Women Smile, Amy Cunningham explains the value of a smile and how it does not always
reflect how a woman is truly feeling on the inside. Both essays spend much time looking at women
and how they are under the constant scrutiny from those around ... Show more content on

However, a woman can t expect to be seen as a professional smart capable female by men when she is
dressed provocatively because while men should control their actions and thoughts they rarely ever
do. There is only so much a woman can be held accountable until the blame shifts to the men, for it is
one thing for the men to have unmoral thoughts towards women, but it is another thing entirely to act
on those thoughts and not take any responsibility whatsoever. That is why, while she may not be able
to subdue men s malicious thoughts, she can have some power over what kind of thoughts they are
and use it to benefit herself. She is constantly unintentionally drawing a man s gaze and she has the
choice to illustrate an image of a bright woman or an image of a woman who relies solely on her
beauty to get her through life. This shows boys at a young age that women have more to offer than the
surface of their bodies. However, smiles are involuntary reflexes that babies learn at a very early age.
By the time babies are around three months old, they start gazing with intense interest into the faces of
[their] parents (Cunningam 150). At six months old they are smiling and laughing regularly in reaction
to being tickled, fed, hugged or played with. Even babies who are blind, intuitively know how to react
to pleasurable changes with a smile (Cunningam 150). A smile depicts this image of affection and love
that radiates positive energy. While the real importance is a

What is the importance of the description of Alison in...
In The Miller s Tale , the poet Chaucer depicts the tale of a hende man and his attempt to tempt the
primerole Alisoun to commit adultery and therefore render her husband, John a cokewold . The Miller
s Tale is just one story amongst a collection of greater works known collectively as The Canterbury
Tales . The placing of this tale is significant becomes it comes directly after the Knight s Tale
revolving around nobility and chivalry and forms a direct contrast due to the fact it is bawdy, lewd and
highly inappropriate. The tale is a fabliau, a versified short story designed to make you laugh;
concerned usually with sexual or excretory functions. The plot often involves members of the clergy,
and is usually in the form of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are also invited to think of Alison as a sexual being in the line upon hir lendes (loins) We can also
infer that Alison is somewhat promiscuous (and therefore John has a right to [hold] hire narwe in cage
) because we are told that her shoes were laced on hir legges hye and we would only know that if her
skirt was hitched up. Short skirts in those days had connotations with prostitutes, the same as they do
today.
The appropriate attitude for a man to take to such a woman (the Miller thinks) is shown by such terms
as quot;popelote quot;, quot;primerole quot; and quot;piggesnie quot;, for which we can readily find
modern equivalents. Alison is suitable as a mistress for quot;any lord quot;; as a wife, she can expect
at best to marry a yeoman, for any good yeman to wedde . Among the many other physical details
packed into the Miller s set piece description we learn that Alison has delicately plucked sloe black
eyebrows; that she is tall and erect ( upright as a bolt ) and that her breath is sweet. Much of the
account is taken up with an inventory of her clothes. These seem fairly expensive, but John evidently
wishes her to spend on her wardrobe. The clothes are stylish and exaggerate her attractive features. We
learn that many garments are of silk, that smock and collar are embroidered, that her apron is

Power Of Words In The Book Theif Markus Zusak
The Power of Words Words have the capability to save a life, but they also have the power to end one.
Language, specifically words, have very powerful means. Words are considered the most effective
way to communicate. They shape our emotions, lifestyle, decisions, culture, and more. Words have the
ability to connect people, outlast, and influence opinions. Opinions and thoughts are often determined
by words. Mohammed Qahtani, 2015 World Champion of Toastmasters, provides an example of this.
In his speech, Mohammed said, Do you know that the leading cause of lung cancer? Is not actually a
cigarette, it s your DNA. You could smoke for years and nothing would ever happen to you. This
whole war against smoking is just to restrict the farming of tobacco. Mr. Contest Chair, fellow ...

with a group of friends and the results five of them believe what I said, two of them started smoking
(Qahtani). Almost everyone knows that smoking has terrible health effects, yet Mohammed was able
to change people s minds about the idea of smoking, just by telling them it has no effect. This shows
how easily words can modify human s judgment. Another example of words shaping people s
thoughts is in The Book Thief Markus Zusak writes, Yes the Fuhrer decided that he would rule the
world without words. I will never fire a gun! he devised. I will not have to (Zusak 445). This quote
truly shows how influential words can be, Hitler was able to get thousands of followers with his
words. He used words in such a way, he convinced many people to do horrible things, he even started
a war, all with his words. Qahtani presents another example of words influencing people when he talks
about his friend, Nassar. Nassar had drug overdosed

the cause of predestined, whether predestined is certain, and whether the number of the predestined is
certain. First, whether men are predestined by God? According to Damascene predestinated is not
determined by God. Damascene says it must be borne in mind that God foreknows but does not
predetermine everything, since He foreknows all that is in us, but does not predetermine it at all.
Damascene believes that if human merit and demerit are in us and we are the masters of our own acts
by free will than it all pertains; therefore, to merit or demerit cannot be predestined by God making
predestined irrelevant. Also, if other creatures cannot be predestined by God than men can neither be

Summary Of Mike Rose s Blue Collar Brilliance
Blue Collar Brilliance, a short story written by Mike Rose, a professor at UCLA Graduate School of
Education and Information Studies. Rose takes his audience on a tour of the blue collar experience, for
those who may not know, blue collar is the hard labor, on the line, punching in at five in the morning
and punching back out at close. In this case, it was his mother s hard work he let the audience see,
Rose Meraglie Rose, the waitress. Rose helps the audience gather a mental image of what he
experienced occasionally on a day to day basis; it was the 1950s in a Los Angeles family restaurant.
Mrs. Mergalio would do more than just waitress, she could handle working the register and the
counter with little to no help (Rose, 2017, p. 272). Sitting behind a desk all day, white collar
employees have little to no face time with the outside world or their colleagues. As a waitress, ... Show

With the repeating influences that have given Rose this ground breaking realization of Blue Collar
Brilliance, it is no shock that Rose not only lived by this but shared it with whoever could get their
hands on it. One thing that Mrs. Mergalio and Joe Mergalio had in common was, there was not a day
that went by in the restaurant or on the line, where they did not learn something new (Rose, 2017, pp.
275 277). Continuously the Mergalio s strengthened their minds and bodies, while the majority of
white collar workers were in an air conditioned office, answering for The Man. Rose enlightens mind
s a bit more, comparing the jobs of a plumber and a hairdresser. A plumber does not know what to
expect until he arrives, he must study the scenario and prepare accordingly, both learn through
experience, but hairstyling becomes routine, whereas plumbing becomes observation, and trial and

Book Summary of the Use and Abuse of Biology
Part 1
Marshall Sahlins is one of the most prominent American anthropologists of our time. He holds the title
of Charles F. Grey Distinguished Service Professor of Anthropology at the University of Chicago
where he presently teaches. Marshall Sahlins , The Use and Abuse of Biology, is an excellent text,
which attacks both the logical errors of sociobiology and its ideological distortions. His work focuses
on demonstrating the power that culture has to shape people s perceptions and actions and that culture
has a unique power to motivate people, which is not derived from biology or for that matter any other
of the natural sciences. In the text, The Use And Abuse of Biology, Sahlins reveals his true worries

30). Sahlins gives mathematical formulas for kin loss contingent on the total number of descent
groups and the actual rule of intermarriage between them. The author argues that biological
inheritance is not an individual function, as a child does not receive his or her genetic makeup from
either his or her parents. Furthermore, the matrilineal descent group is a single entity in an organic
heritage: these members of that particular group according to mathematical formulation have a co
efficient relationship of 1.
Sahlins also argues that the structure of social interest is not constituted by genetic factors of an
individual nature. Yet, the theory of kinship dominates a large portion of the text and he explores kin
selection. This theory of kin selection has been tested in Polynesia. The advantages of testing for kin
selection in Polynesia are best put forward for these following reasons. First, Polynesian societies can
afford structural conditions favorable for the operation of kin selection. Second, descent is bilaterally
reckoned and Polynesians are renowned for the value the race as a whole attaches to genealogies. He
explains that this formula is important as it accounts for altruism and a whole collection of socially
undesirable behaviors. Behaviors that individuals often cannot abide are displayed by significant
others in our communities such as greed or ingratitude or selfishness. These negative

Solidarity Movement And Polish Revolution
On May 7th, 2011, United States President Barack Obama made a speech in which he asked the Arab
Spring nations in transition to democracy to use Poland as a role model . However, Central Europe
and the Middle East are different linguistically, religiously, and historically. Was there any actual basis
for President Obama s comparison? Or was this speech another instance of a politician making a grand
generalization to prove a point? Upon further examination, both Poland s Solidarity movement and
Tunisia s Jasmine Revolution acted as catalysts for democratization in their respective regions. This is
because they both started as economic movements, and then evolved into social movements, which
became democratization attempts. In addition, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, the workers themselves began to organize and publicly demand rights. The last group in
Polish society who was responsible for achieving success in the Solidarity movement was the
religious sector. The religious support that the Solidarity movement possessed cannot be overlooked.
On the protestor s side, it s easy to fight for your rights when you know that God supports you. On the
other hand, it s difficult for the government to fight against a religious institution that has such
powerful influence over the people. Pope John Paul II, originally a Polish citizen named Karol
Wojtyla, played a key role in not only broadcasting the Solidarity movement to the world, but also by
giving the Solidarity movement a pseudo divine right to exist . In 1978, Karol Wojtyla was elected to
be the first non Italian pope since the 1500s . Thus began the attention that he drew not only from the
international Catholic community, but the international community in general. Furthermore, in his
visit to Poland, he affirmed the Polish people s right to organize themselves, and to protest against
their mistreatment. In 1979, the year before Solidarity was officially formed, Pope John Paul II visited
his home country once again and gave speeches concerning civil rights in Poland. The International
Center on Nonviolent Conflict states, During a pilgrimage that was broadcast on state TV and radio,
the Pope spoke openly about human rights and the right to freedom of expression and conscience .
CNN confirms this statement and adds to it, stating that the Pope s support was financial, as well. In
discussing the fall of communism in Poland, it claims, It took time; it took the Pope s support from
Rome some of it financial; it took several more trips in 1983 and 1987. But the flame was lit. It would
smolder and flicker before it burned from one end of Poland

The author Stephen Ambrose catches a glimpse of what these heroic soldiers accomplished in his book Band of Brothers, by providing readers with interviews of first hand encounters on the battlefields of Europe, from former paratroopers that served in the 506th Regiment. Ambrose s book depicts how the spectacles of war create everlasting scars on soldiers mentally and physically, that never fully heal. Ambrose admired his father, whom was a physician and served in the Navy during World War II. This influenced Ambrose to become like his farther, but he later became passionate with history, receiving his Ph. D. from the University of Wisconsin. Ambrose admired the history of war and wanted to understand the thoughts and emotions that ran through the paratroopers minds from Toccoa, where they trained for endless days under the command of Lieutenant Sobel, to the last moments on November 30, 1945, where the 101st ... • 13. Tribulation Paper Sanctification does not happen without a deep motivation and drive from an outside source. There are several areas in a Christian s life that can provide that motivation, for instance, Bible reading, the Holy Spirit, and prayer. All of these are a great means of motivation but perhaps the greatest motivation is the anticipation of the Lords return. The Bible is very clear that the rapture is coming, and that Christ will return for his bridegroom. However, the Bible is less clear on when the church will be raptured in relation to the tribulation period. There are a couple different thoughts on when the rapture will happen, two of the most common are pretribulation and posttribulation. This paper is looking to define the pretribulation view while taking a deeper look at the strengths and weaknesses this view has to offer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the church was not removed before the tribulation, Christ would be focusing on Judgment for two different groups of his children (Beware 220). A verse that helps support the distinction between Israel and the church is Jeremiah 30:7, Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it. The reference to Jacob s trouble is a clear indication that this period of wrath is not intended for the church but for Jacobs decedents. On another note, one of the distinct differences between pretribulation and the other views considering the time of the rapture is a literal method of interpretation. The pretribulation view holds to a literal interpretation of the book of Revelation. Those who believe in posttribulation will interpret eschatology through spiritualization or treat it historically. Gender Discrimination During The Early Nineteenth Century Would you believe me if I told you that there was a time that women were fired simply for getting married, or that the wanted ads in the Sunday paper were separated according to gender? Gender discrimination has been an ongoing battle in the work force for many decades, centuries even. Woman have long fought to have equality in the work place and have come a long way. Unfortunately, gender discrimination still exists in modern times and there is still a struggle for women when it comes to equal rights obtaining a job, advancement from current positions, and the ability to earn an equal salary to a male peer. History shows that for hundreds of years woman have been the minority in the work force. A look back at the early nineteenth century shows that the United States was focused on agriculture. During this time, women of all ages participated as workers in the family business without an earned income. Their roles were to actively share in the families agricultural business without pay. It was during the progress of industrialization that brought about the need for new jobs and employees. While this led to a decrease of economic activity among married women, it increased the participation of single women in paid labor prior to the year 1850. This was due to the new methods of production which allowed for unskilled workers to take the place of skilled labor. Women who had worked as servants for low pay quickly turned to mill towns where they could earn a higher income while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the history and establishment of Camp Lewis is not as important as preparing for war, it is important to know the past in order to help posture and mold the future of tomorrow. The idea for Camp Lewis was fought for by the civilian populace of Pierce County in Washington State. Late in1916, as war continued to escalate in Europe, a private group of concerned citizens gathered at American Lake to organize a training program designed for civilian personnel. The program was designed to encourage readiness among the community in preparation for the possibility of going to war in Europe. One of the attending civilians was a cadet named Stephen Appleby. Mr. Appleby (a former Captain in the Minnesota National Guard) was vice president of the Northwest Business Men s Preparedness League and a bank cashier for Tacoma Washington. He was informed that the Army was sending out a survey team to the Northwest in search of establishing an Army Post. Mr. Appleby contacted the commander of the survey team and asked him to make a site visit of the camp that the community had established as possibility of use for the Army. Captain Richard Parks (Army survey team commander) visited Pierce County as requested and found it to be impressive. Major General J. • 16. Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily Essay Theme of Death in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a tragic tale of a Southern aristocrat, Miss Emily Grierson, who is the subject of a town s obsession. The narrator, a member of the town, tells the story of what transpires in a decaying old Southern house that is always under the watchful eye of the townspeople. They witness Miss Emily s life, her father s death, her turn to insanity and the death of both her and her lover. The theme of death runs throughout this tale, which is understandable considering the events that take place in the story. Faulkner uses foreshadowing to foretell events that will transpire later in the story. Because of this foreshadowing, a reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This description of Emily s hair is important, because one of Emily s hairs will be found next to Homer s body, and it also shows how Emily is decaying like the house and items inside. Early in the story Emily writes a letter on stationary of an archaic shape and with fading ink . The references here are to the way she is always described growing older and decaying. Even Emily s house shares her short squat characteristic and coquettish decay . The insanity of Miss Emily is also foretold in A Rose for Emily. When the body of Homer is found in her bed, the reader can understand that Emily killed him, because her mental stability had been questioned a number of times. The narrator begins these allusions to her mental state when he tells how the mayor, Colonel Sartoris, bestows a special tax exemption upon Miss Emily. Colonel Sartoris makes up a story so unbelievable that it is described as so outlandish that only a woman could have believed it . Later, the townspeople talk about her great aunt, the lady Wyatt, who had gone completely crazy. They wonder about poor Emily with the insanity in her family. Her mental state comes into question again when the town removes the body of her father. She is said to have broke down and finally let them in to take and bury the body. This is an obvious analogy to her having a mental breakdown. This is followed with the statement that the townspeople did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gangs and Violence in The Prison System Essay Gangs and Violence in the Prison System Introduction Gang violence is nationwide and is one of the most prominent problems in the prison system today. Gangs are known to attempt to control the prisons/jails, instill fear within the prison system and throughout the society, and bring negative attention to the system. Gang affiliated inmates comprise about 18 percent of the 18000 inmate population. In order to find a solution for the problem the prison system took and is still taking steps such as classifying the gang members and other violent inmates as security threat groups (STG s). Both prison officials and law enforcement agencies refer to gangs as STG s rather than gangs in order to take away from the assumptions and exposure that the word gang gets. There are several ways of becoming classified as a security threat group, such as self admission, known gang tattoos, confiscation of STG paraphernalia, or information provided by an informant acknowledging the inmate as a gang member. All known security threat groups are kept in single inmate cells known as administration segregation to separate them from the rest of the inmate population, in hopes of reducing the amount of communication between gang members and the amount violence. One problem with administration segregation is a the amount of available space; the number of inmates classified as a security threat group greatly exceeds the space available thus causing many prisons to keep STG s in the general inmate population and putting only leaders of the gangs in administration segregation. The simple decision of allowing the security threat groups to remain in the general inmate population increases the probability of violence within the prison tremendously. • 19. Using Software And Its Integration With Regular Cost... Reports produced by an ABC system contain information, such as product margins, that vary from the information reported for a traditional cost method. It s also possible that some activity based costs may be irrelevant in certain decision making scenarios; for example, ABC does not conform to accounting standards and should not be used for external reporting. Since traditional cost figures tend to be the norm, interpreting ABC data along with regular accounting information can be confusing and lead to bad decision making. The use of software can streamline the process of maintaining an ABC system and simplify its integration with regular cost accounting information. (Eileen, nd.) Even for smaller businesses, the implementation of an activity based costing system can be a substantial undertaking. The added precision of the activity based system can only be achieved if the small business owner is willing to put in the time to analyse the manufacturing process with enough detail to determine how overhead costs are incurred. Due to the difficulty of implementation, many small business owners don t believe the benefit of an activity based system outweighs the costs. (John, nd.) Other than ABC, balanced scorecard is also design for the change of the management accounting. Words have the ability to connect people, outlast, and influence opinions. Opinions and thoughts are often determined by words. Mohammed Qahtani, 2015 World Champion of Toastmasters, provides an example of this. In his speech, Mohammed said, Do you know that the leading cause of lung cancer? Sahlins gives mathematical formulas for kin loss contingent on the total number of descent groups and the actual rule of intermarriage between them. The author argues that biological inheritance is not an individual function, as a child does not receive his or her genetic makeup from either his or her parents. Furthermore, the matrilineal descent group is a single entity in an organic heritage: these members of that particular group according to mathematical formulation have a co efficient relationship of 1. Sahlins also argues that the structure of social interest is not constituted by genetic factors of an individual nature. Yet, the theory of kinship dominates a large portion of the text and he explores kin selection. This theory of kin selection has been tested in Polynesia. The advantages of testing for kin selection in Polynesia are best put forward for these following reasons. First, Polynesian societies can afford structural conditions favorable for the operation of kin selection. Second, descent is bilaterally reckoned and Polynesians are renowned for the value the race as a whole attaches to genealogies. On the other hand, it s difficult for the government to fight against a religious institution that has such powerful influence over the people.
