Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress Summary
The novel, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, by Dai SiJie is about two boys, the narrator
and his friend Luo. Along with other with other youths of China, they were both sent down to the
country side during the Cultural Revolution of China to be re educated. At the time anyone that had
high school education were considered intellectuals and were considered as a threat to the cultural
movement. However, the narrator or Luo only had middle school education and were considered
intellectuals. One big reason why they were sent down was because their parents were considered
intellectuals and they were paying the price for it. During their time in the country side, Luo falls in
love with a seamstress and throughout the novelshe is referred... Show more content on

Since love was a very foreign idea to them, it influenced them to become more interested in
western book, which did not include any propaganda. When the narrator reads Jean Christophe a
book by Romain Rolland, he talks about the main character fondly Without him I would never
have understood the splendor of taking free and independent action as an individual. Up until
this stolen encounter with Romain Rolland s hero, my poor educated and re educated brains had
been incapable of gasping the notion of one man standing up against the whole world (110).
This is the main reason why Mao didn t want people reading any kind of literature that was not
connected to the party or scientific. Books such as the one the narrator read inspired people
which can motivate then to rise up against his dictatorship and lead to his loss of power. When
talking about the main character from the Balzac Ursule Mirouet novel, the narrater sates I
longed to be like her: to be able, while I lay asleep on my bed, to see what my mother was doing
in our apartment five hundred kilometers away, to watch my parents having supper, to observe
their gestures...better still, like Ursele, I would visit, in my dreams, places I had never set eyes on
before... (58 59). From this passage it can be seen how disillusioned the youth of China were due to
the re education process. Another key reason why Luo and the narrator were so interested in the
books was because they could relate to the stories. They were able to picture it happening to
themselves which in a way gave them an escape from their reality and the fact that they might
never be able to move

Battle of Gettysburg Essay
What was supposed to last 90 days, now dragged on for more than two years. It was apparent,
now more than ever, that little was being accomplished but the taking of hundreds of thousands
of lives. The war between the Union and Confederacy had been in a sort of deadlock where each
side could claim victories as easy as defeats. By this time the south had the upper hand militarily
wise, just coming off a magnificent tactical victory at Chancellorsville in May. General Lee headed
the Confederacy s, Army of Northern Virginia, General Meade headed the Union s Army of the
Potomac. Both sides saw the need to win that one, crucial victory to turn the tide completely in their
favor. They would get their chances at a small town in Pennsylvania. The... Show more content on

By this point in the war, the citizens of the Confederacy were growing more and more doubtful
of their future as long as the war was being fought. Food was at a scarcity, money was gradually
becoming worthless and thousands of soldiers had been killed. Lee s army was having a lot of
success in Virginia since Fredericksburg in December 1862, but the war was exacting a heavy
toll on life in the south. It was becoming evident to Lee and President Davis so they knew they
had to get the spirit of the people to rise again. No better possible way to do so then by
obliterating the Army of the Potomac on northern soil. In doing so, General Lee hoped to not
only raise morale in his ranks and the south, but crush the northern spirit. A win here would for
sure demoralize even more, those opposing the war in the north, which might get public opinion
to swing to anti war. Also, Lee would pressure the north into sending troops from Washington,
weakening its defenses or possibly draw troops from Grant s army at Vicksburg. On the other
hand, General Meade s, Army of the Potomac also had reasons to win the battle. Newly appointed,
General George Meade, had a huge task ahead of him. He had just assumed command of the
Union s main eastern army and now he must halt Lee s advance. Two very difficult obstacles for
him but if he couldn t stop the Army of Northern Virginia then his country was in jeopardy. With the

Cultural Narratives Influence On Society
In the short amount of time that humanity has inhabited this planet, we have managed to leave a
bigger imprint than any other species. The human population is well over 7 billion individuals and
the presence of humanity is extended to all four corners of the globe. As a result of the large
population, intellectual superiority, and the wide range of human existence, humanity has naturally
transformed into a diverse populace. Consequently, cultural narratives are prominent in our daily
lives and play a role in shaping our social interactions, opinions, and lifestyles. The influence of
cultural narratives have only expanded with the growth in technology. Technology provides a
platform for individuals to be connected with regions on the opposite side of the globe within
seconds. This advancement has led to the widespread dispersion of cultural traditions and
tendencies. This is evident in the news, social media, and other media platforms. Different cultures
have developed different beliefs about what norms are and abide by those beliefs. If someone falls
out of the lines of normality, most people immediately formulate an ethnocentric mindset and begin
to create opinions that that person s cultureis inferior to their own.
My family and I are especially aware of the degree of influence that cultural narratives have on
society. The reason why cultural narratives have such a considerable influence in our daily lives is
due to the fact that we originate from a Muslim background.

A Research Study On New Key Markets
Studying more deeply the geographic population, finding new key markets ready to be pierced by
a new identifiable group with specific needs, is something I want to do. Being an entrepreneur that
is studying carefully the rising market of elderly people seeking to upgrade their standard vehicle
to a mobility vehicle and selling it to them is something I am looking forward to. This segment of
the population is rising, now that the baby boomers are in their retirement years.
The article is old (10 years old), but the information is still relevant and the currency does not
matter in the sense where we shouldn t pay attention to this potential market because the elderly
population is still raising ...and by 2020 that number is expected to double, surpassing 40 million.
(said Guyette p.24). This article could be considerate even as recent since the baby boomers ended
in the mid 60s and the market is still rising.
It is also relevant to a potential career as a Marketing researcher and in entrepreneurship, as it
explains the low implication of dealerships to sell mobility vehicles and insurance company
repairing the potential damages made inadequately. Also, collision shops seem unprepared to
repair these issues. These issues are caused by unprepared people towards this market, which is
relevant to the challenges I will face.
The journal ABRN seems unknown in social media/internet, but it s a local automotive journal
published in America and trusted by the locals. Even if it

A Brief Note On Porsche s Engine Downsizing
Porsche s Engine Downsizing
There are more than one billion cars in the world right now and this number is increasing
everyday due to the demand of the cars. Most of the cars in the world have big engines right
now. What a big engine means is the eight cylinder V8, ten cylinder V10, or twelve cylinder V12
engines. Those types of engines have been used for many years in the car industry. All the car
manufacturers prefer to use those engines because people like them and thinking that more
cylinder means more power. For many years those car manufacturers have not realized one thing
that big engines emission rates are really bad and those engines are actually creating tons of carbon
monoxide because they have more cylinders. Basically more ... Show more content on

Porsche started to downsize their engines to fit their engine emission rates to the new rules. By that
move, Porsche was one of the first sports car manufacturer that started to downsize their engines.
Downsizing the engine mean is actually pretty simple. They are actually taking 4.8 liter, eight
cylinder V8 engine and changing it with the 3.6 liter, six cylinder V6 engine. When they are
making the engine smaller, they are also adding that engine a turbocharger to make it much
powerful as the bigger engine. (Turbocharger is helping the engine to get more air to the pistons
to increase it is performance) Most of the Porsche customers thought bigger engines were stronger
and it makes the car go faster. Actually, it is not true because when they add turbochargers to the
engine, it makes the car much powerful as the bigger engines. Another thing about the downsizing
the engine is the fact that, when the manufacturer downsizes the engine they are actually making
the car lighter. When a car becomes lighter, it is actually goes faster than the previous models
because it has much power as the old model, but it is lighter. However in order to prove their
small engines performance to their customers, in 2014 Porsche started to compete in the FIA WEC
24 hour races to test their new downsized engines to see their performance and reliability in long
endurance races.

Television Programs Can Support And Facilitate Language...
For many years, parents have relied on using educational programs to teach and engage their
children with new concepts and materials. Conversely, many children have also used television as
an opportunity for learning and language development. For example, the rise of television programs
like Elmo Street and Teletubbies demonstrates this upward trend of substituting media sources for
teaching and learning. However, despite the increasing support from parents toward television
programs, many researchers have mixed reviews on putting our children into viewing long hours
of what they considered unnecessary learning. Thus in what follows of this paper, I will focus on
explaining how television programs can support and facilitate language development. Moreover, I
will also discuss the mixed literacy support for using television as a learning tool and finally, I will
conduct a study that measures, specifically, the relationship between watching educational TV and
learning novel words. Hopefully, with these measures, I will be able to find supporting evidence
that proves educational TV can be a good predictor for word learning.
Through the years, one continuous point of debate has been whether educational TV can facilitate
and improve word learning in children. Many studies on this debate have found distinct and mixed
research outcomes. For example, one study has been Mabel s Rice Word from Sesame Street, in
which he found mixed supporting evidence that television programs can

Character Analysis Of Charlie Gordon In Daniel Keyes...
Charlie Gordon knows he is not very intelligent and that the only thing he is good at is his job.
In Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, Charlie, a 37 year old man, has an I.Q. of 68 which is
a result of a mental disorder. Later on he gets an opportunity from Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur to
get an A.I. surgery which would triple his I.Q. Charlie takes them up on the offer. After the
surgery, Charlie gets smarter, and a lot people get scared after knowing him as not being
intelligent. He even gets fired from his job because everyone felt uncomfortable and inferior
around him. They signed a petition for him to not work there anymore. Charlie didn t know what
to do since it s all he s ever done. It s great that he got more intelligent, but Charlie s life was way
better before the surgery. He was happier, he was more likeable, and he got along with others

surgery. Other viewers may say that more people liked Charlie after the surgery and I argue that
it is not true. Although he might have been happy after the surgery, he had many other emotions
than he did have before the surgery. For example before the surgery he only felt happiness,
excitement, and motivation, but after the surgery he had sadness, depression, lonely, and he
could also feel ashamed. The quote Now I m more alone than ever before... (Keyes 235). This
shows he had depression. People often think that since Charlie was smarter and could accomplish
more after the surgery that he was more liked previously, but most people didn t like him and
were uncomfortable with him. For example, he even lost his job because people didn t want him
there because they were uncomfortable with him. Dr. Nemur appears to be uncomfortable around
me. Sometimes when I try to talk to him, he just looks at me strangely and turns away (Keyes

Secondary Prevention Programs Essay
The Secondary Prevention Programs provide treatment such as psychological counseling to youths
and adults that have violated the law. Unfortunately, there is an extreme disconnect in providing
adequate services to people that have committed crimes after they have met all rehabilitative
requirements under the law. The prisonsystem was initially designed to rehabilitate people that
have operated outside of the confines of law so that once their debt is paid they are to assimilate
back into society. If a person completes their prison sentence and returns to normal society with no
options of creating a productive life is it safe to say that we create criminals and punish them for
their crimes. Crisis counseling should be provided and required for all citizens that have completed
their prison sentence so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To further help those that have committed crimes receive a fair second chance trade training and
job placement opportunities should be provided to those that are released from prison.
Incentives, should be given such as tax rebates for companies that provide employment to

the American veterans that have risked their lives for this country and do not receive additional
counseling and care to treat the effects of war. PTSD has been proven to truly affect the way that
people the suffer from it operate daily. Veterans suffering from this horrific disorder should be
given proper treatment to ensure that their mental deficiencies are properly handled and treated.
To make sure that we prevent former criminals from becoming repeat criminal offenders we must
aid, educate, train, and treat all of the causing factors that drive people to commit crimes and
recommit them. For a person to reenter society after being in prison and have no money in their
pockets, access to no forms of aid, no education, and then be told to be a productive tax paying

Effects Of Ww1 On Canada
The war united many Canadians in a common cause even though the war widened some divisions
and took a great toll on Canada. Few had expected the long struggle or heavy death toll. Even
though the war was one it came at a cost; compulsory military service, broken promises to farmers
and organized labour, high inflation, deep social divisions, and the suspension of many civil
liberties. Some women had received the right to vote, but other Canadians recent immigrants
associated with enemy countries had seen this right rescinded. Directly after the war Canadawas hit
by the cost of the war, riots divisions plagued the country for years to come.

Government had intervened in the lives of Canadians to an unprecedented degree, introducing
policies that would eventually mature into a fully fledged systems, for example the Canadian
patriotic fund which was set up by the populous however was taken over and remained under
federal control.
Politically, the war was also used for political supremacy. Borden s efforts to win the 1917
election and carry the nation to victory succeeded in the short term, but fractured the country
along regional, cultural, linguistic, and class lines. English and French relations were never
lower, and accusations of French traitors and English militarists became a huge social issue. The
Conscription act would tear apart the already existing social divides in Canada. Firstly the French
British divide became more profound during and after the war. The British where more inclined to
join and agree with the conscription act as they had more family and ties to the lands where WW1
was waged. The French on the other hand usually married younger and had families making them
more reluctant to join the war effort. Furthermore the French Canadians did not believe in the war
effort as they where underrepresented in Canada and where therefore less inclined to fight for a
Government that does not fighter for them. The war did not only cause social divisions in Canada
but also eroded their human

The Grignard Synthesis of Triphenylmethanol
Abstract: The purpose of this lab was to synthesize triphenylmethanol from benzophenone and
bromobenzene by the formation of a Grignard compound with the reagents bromobenzene and
magnesium metal. The bromobenzene was first transformed into the Grignard compound and was
then reacted with the benzophenone to make the final product. The mixture was then mixed with
sulfuric acid and the organic layer was extracted via a separatory funnel. The mixture was then
recrystallized from methanol and was allowed to dry and the percent yield, melting point, and the
IR was obtained. The mass of the product obtained was 5.45 grams and the percentage yield was
determined to be 41.95%. The melting point range obtained from the final product was 89 91В°C...

remaining half of the bromobenzene was added drop wise into the round bottom flask. The
mixture was then refluxed on a heating mantle for 10 minutes until most of the magnesium has
been consumed. After the initial mixture has refluxed, 9.11 grams of benzophenone was

Separation Of Powers And The United Kingdom s...
This essay is aimed to focus on and examine the importance of having a separation of powers and
the reasons for having same in the United Kingdom s constitution. We shall further look into the
structure of the United Kingdom s constitution whilst assessing its somewhat unclear separation of
powers which exist and assess the reasons why the United Kingdoms system of government does
not adhere to the doctrine of the separation of powers. The separation of powers is defined as the
political doctrine of constitutional law under which the branches of government are divided to
prevent an abuse of power. These three branches are the Legislative, Executive and Judicial and are
assigned special powers to maintain a check and balance on each other. In this essay, we shall
further go on to discuss the roles and functions of each of the mentioned branches of government
and the extent to which this defined separation of power is enforced and/or practiced in the United
Kingdom s system of government taking into account the traditional structure that has been
maintained over the years.
Aristotle states, There are three elements in each constitution ...first, the deliberative, which
discusses everything of common importance; second the officials; and third, the judicial element.
These three elements as defined by Aristotle are now known as our Legislative, Executive and
Judicial arms of the United Kingdom s system of government.

Description of Political Party Preference in our Society...
Growing up, I have always heard my parents discuss their political party preferences on many

and Republican. Each one of those parties has their own beliefs and they can be similar, but some
may be different in many different issues. With time, personal experience, and with reading on
many different issues, I have realized that I am more of a liberal democrat and not a conservative
republican. I looked at each parties beliefs on the issues of welfare, abortion, gun control, education
and defense spending. . Welfare: As a Democrat, I am support our current welfare system. I believe

Republicans believe that the fetus should be protected from the moment of conception and not
six months of pregnancy. The Republican Party wants abortion to be illegal, Republicans think
abortion is like a murder, killing innocent humans. Abortion is an intensely personal decision
between a woman, her family, her doctor, and possibly her clergy. I believe there is no place for
politicians or government to get in the way of the woman choice. Only women can make the
decision to have an abortion and they do have the right to do so under Roe v Wade. For
example, I had a friend who got pregnant. She was not married and did not way to have a baby
because she just start college and cannot support a child. Even though she had many choices, she
decided to have an abortion to continue to complete her education. If my friend did not have a
choice to get an abortion she most likely would of not completed college. I am in support of the
woman s abortion rights. Gun Control: I hate guns. I think guns are responsible for many crimes
and unjust deaths.. The Democrat Party believes this issue needs reform; they favor gun control
laws and oppose the right to carry concealed weapons in public places. Many states have Stand
Your Ground laws, which justify the use of deadly force when they are threatened. This is
supported by the Republican Party. For example in February 2012 the Trayvon Martin shooting

Siberian Lynx Research Paper
The Siberian Lynx (Lynx lynx wrangeli) is a subspecies of the Eurasian lynx. They inhabit
Siberia east of the Yenisei River and in other parts of Russia. The climate is frequently very cold.
Eurasian lynxes are the largest of all lynxes. Males weigh upwards of 65 lbs. (about 30 kg); have
a height of 30 in. (75 cm) at the shoulder, and a length of 50 in. (130 cm). The Siberian subspecies
gets particularly big with males reaching as much as 90 lbs. Their paws are wide, enabling them
to walk across snow. Long tuffs of fur sprout from the tips of their ears. Their bodies display an
interesting assortment of colors and patterns. These can be yellowish, grayish, or rusty in color
with patterns of spots, stripes, or without a notable pattern. Siberians are typically more gray and
white in appearance. The fur thickens considerably during winter. Mating happens usually during
the months of February and March. The cats will select dens that provide relative safety, such as
rocky crags or in heavy underbrush. Females give birth to one to four young. The kittens will be...

Their broad range has helped maintain overall populations of the species. In Russia alone their
number surpasses 30,000. The IUCN Red List, which tracks the status of species worldwide,
presently categorizes the Eurasian Lynx as least concern. Despite this fact, the species faces
dangers. It has largely disappeared or declined in many of their traditional habitats in Western
Europe. The exact status of the Siberian lynx subspecies is up to debate. As is often the case,
poaching, prey depletion, and habitat destruction are a problem. History has shown that any
species can be quickly devastated. The last century has seen a marked downturn in the numbers of
various subspecies. One of these, the Balkan lynx, is currently listed as critically endangered. The
population of the Balkans appears to be fewer than 50

The Battle Of The War On The State, And Post Cold War
Introduction: Ever since the Napoleonic Wars, war was a concept that was considered to be under
the purview of the State, however this belief is inherently wrong. In all of history, warfare has
been engaged by private actors as opposed to the State. In fact, the State as the dominant actor in
warfare should be understood as the exception, rather than the norm. Even though the State has not
been the dominant actor in warfare, there were certainly multiple attempts by the State to control,
or have governance over warfare as a whole. For the purposes of understanding governance over
privatized warfare, there are three major time periods that should be reviewed: The Middle Ages,
the Rise of the State, and Post Cold War society. In an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though there has not been global governance over the Private Military Corporation, there were
some attempts at global governance over privatized violence as a whole. Two major international
documents which contribute to the discussion on global governance over privatized war happen to
be: The United Nation s International Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and
Training of Mercenaries and the International Committee of the Red Cross s Montreux Document.
The creation of these documents have also been impacted by non state actors such as committees or
regional groups.
Governance of the Mercenary Mercenaries have existed for years before the Middle Ages, and have
continued well into the 20th century. During the Middle Ages, the political system of feudalism,
and the economies contributed greatly to the prominence and strength of Mercenaries. It is also
worth noting that because of the strength and prominence of Mercenaries, it was hard to have
governance over these entities. The rise of the State fundamentally shifted the way privatized war
was looked at. With the rise of the State, warfare shifted from the private sector into the hands

Reproducibility In Science Is As Important As Any New...
Reproducibility in science is as important as any new hypothesis or discovery. Currently, many
practitioners believe there is a reproducibility crisis. Despite that scientists conduct sound research,
reproducibility is still very low. In my opinion, irreproducible research should be well considered
as a part of enhanced knowledge since, in part, nature tends to be chaotic and hence irreproducible.
Better controls in the research process, however, can improve comprehension and utility of research
results.

they are a waste of time, resources or opportunities. Suggestions for enhanced reproducibility are

In view of Heisenberg s principle of uncertainty, is it actually possible to reproduce/recapture both

A Streetcar Named Desire, By Tennessee Williams
A Streetcar Named Desire, written by Tennessee Williams, was first performed on December
3rd, 1947. Chronicling the actions and events that take place when two sisters are reunited, A
Streetcar Named Desire is regarded as one of Tennessee William s most successful plays.
Likewise, Blank Space , written and performed by Taylor Swift, was first performed November
23rd, during the 2014 American Music Awards. Blank Space spent 22 weeks in the top 40 charts
and is featured on the best selling album 1989. Though A Streetcar Named Desireand Blank Space
are two separate works written and performed 67 years apart, character and character actions in A
Streetcar Named Desire are synonymous with lyrics portrayed in Blank Space because Blank
Space lyrics can be used to describe the relationship between the characters, Blanche and Stanley.
Both works describe an unhealthy relationship between two people, foreshadow an event that leads
to insanity, and provide detailed information that can be applied to both characters.
A Streetcar Named Desire and Blank Space are similar because they both describe an unhealthy
relationship. In the case of A Streetcar Named Desire, this would be the relationship between
Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski. Blanche is Stanley s sister in law, who serves as his
antagonist (Bloom, 22). Though the characters are related by marriage and therefore family, they
suffer many differences that lead to their hatred of one another. While Blanche is

International Order And Its Effect On The World s The...
International order, though it may be fleeting in the grand scheme of history, seems to be at
least on a continuous track of lingering longer and longer each time before chaos takes over.
The Persians, Greeks, and Romans all seemed to enjoy ever increasing periods of relative peace
at the top of their systems of international order before it unraveled. Most of Europe was in good
order on the tail of the Industrial Revolution until some arch duke decided to vacation in
Sarajevo. After each major conflict, the world re shuffles itself and order is established again in
some form or fashion. The players are bigger and more numerous with greater consequences for
conflict but order is still unseated from time to time and the rules of the existing orders seem to
change daily. Realism can explain this violent cycle of order and disorder. States and even non
state actors continuously seek to balance regional powerin order to secure their survival in a world
dominated by fear and uncertainty; if unable to balance that power through violent means, players
will seek to form alliances and organizations to at least prevent domination; once a status quo has
been created and survival is temporarily assured, players will seek to maintain life within that
order; new members thrust the order back into violence and potentially chaos if unable or
unwilling to play by those rules. This cycle of power balancing can be illustrated in three phases.
International orders are created as

The First Sermon Essay
Buddhist art, like most kinds of art, cannot be reduced to a specific set of visual characteristics.
However, within a certain time period and region, there are recurring details in many Buddhist
works of art. The First Sermon (2ndc 3rdc: Gandhara), which depicts Buddha delivering his first
sermon, is no exception to this fact. The design and visual characteristics of The First Sermon
serve as clear evidence that the work was created during the rule of the Kushan empire, specifically
in Gandhara. Additionally, those same characteristics suggest that the piece was most likely used
for adornment of a temple or other structure rather than for individual worship. The First Sermon
shares many of the same details seen in other Kushan era artworks that came out of Gandhara. The
most notable aspect that stands out is the work s heavy Greek influence. When speaking of Buddhist

The piece is originally part of a panel, which would likely include other scenes as part of a larger
story. Even inside the particular scene, the Buddha is not alone but instead is surrounded by other
figures, which further suggests that it was not meant for worship. As Behrendt and Brancaccio
state in their text, when the purpose is worship, the Buddha is usually presented as independent
(Behrendt and Brancaccio 19). Finally, the small size of the piece indicates that it was not
intended for any sort of adoration. With merely 32cm x 27cm in size, the work does not compare
to larger and more detailed works that could adequately be used for worship. In conclusion, The
First Sermon helps as further evidence and guidance towards fully understanding the history of
Buddhist art. Although it does not display any particularly unique features, the piece of art serves
to strengthen concepts of South Asian art as well as its uses in everyday

Language And Development Of Language, Experience,...
Language plays a significant role in the process of transmitting knowledge and culture among
mankind. Everyone learns a language at the early stages of life. From birth to seven years, a
tremendous development of language skills is seen in a child. The essay states the various
developmental phases of phonetics, morphology, semantics and syntax in a child. The behaviourist
and cognitive theories states that nature and nurture plays a vital role in this process. The essay also
throws light on the importance of culture, experience, maturation and readiness with the aid of
theories laid by Lev Vygotsky and Jean Piaget.

From this stage a child even begins to grasp the
meaning of short phrases such as #39;give me #39;, do not touch #39; and the like. In the next
phase of language
development, the child articulates words. The child picks up simple words from its surroundings
and that which may be taught him. He associates the words with its meaning (Kuhl et al., 2016).
The development of semantic skills take place here. In the later phase, sentence formation begins. In
the beginning, grammar and the conventional way of sentence structure is lacked. From here
commences the syntactic development in an individual. Through experiences and expressions, the
child unknowingly adapts to the accepted grammar and conventional sentence construction rules of
its language ((Bloom, 1993). By the age of four a child speaks and understands his language clearly.
A child is inspired by surroundings to develop its language skills. He or she imitates and reacts to
the sounds around them. B. F. Skinner, one of the pioneers of behaviourism, emphasizes the role of
environment in language development (Sommerville, 2006). He argues that a child learns words by
associating it with meanings. The word #39;cat #39; brings the idea of that particular animal in the
child #39;s
mind. Children imitate words and sentences used by parents and elders. According to him, children
learn language on the basis of reinforcement principles. Adults surrounding them, especially parents

Waitakere Range Research Paper
The Waitakere Ranges are home to many flora and fauna. These plants and animals make up the
communities within their ecosystem. They interact with each other through competition and
various relationships. In the Waitakere Ranges, there are several habitats organisms live in:
Forests and shrub lands
Freshwater wetlands, lakes and streams
Coastal wetlands, dunes, and estuarine tidal flats and channels
Urban area
The populations of each habitat vary, as they would be dependent on abiotic factors such as: light,
temperature, water and soil.
Within communities, organisms compete for limited resources (food, space, mates, shelter). 613 of
our native species (plants, birds, fish), compete with 240 introduced plant species, 19 introduced
bird species, 9 introduced mammals and 2 amphibians. It is estimated that we have lost 30 native

and his innocence is enhanced through it. Also, by always using rhetorical questions, he never

think he knows much more than he is telling him about the entire affair. This becomes especially
clear when Othello asks for ocular proof and Iago confirms he has it using statements like I

Buddhism Diane Morgan Analysis
Buddhism has many interesting aspects, but in this paper, I will be focusing on a passage from
Essential Buddhism by Diane Morgan, about karma. In her book, karma is defined as both action
and fruits of action (page 82). Karma is what Buddhist believes your life is shaped by whether it be
good or bad Karma. Especially when it comes to reincarnation, since, with good karma you are
believed to be reincarnated into better levels of life forms. For example an animal could become
a human man. On the other hand, bad karma will downgrade your reincarnation to a less desired
level. Karma seems to be independently driven as Morgan states in the passage that There is no

For the religion karma is karma and it affects all sentient beings (page 85). Since there is not an
immediate punishment to create good karmic seeds, there is a lack of motivation for people in
the faith to follow that way of thinking. Unless you are completely devoted to the face, a
common individual would lack the will to go to such extremes in hopes they might one day
become enlightened in another life. I believe that because humans tend to make inherently bad
choices, it is impossible for an average human being who is not able to just dedicate all thoughts
and time to the Buddhist practice to achieve enough good karmic seeds to accomplish nirvana.
Especially, since it is said that you will have no recollection of your past life, making it difficult
to correct your past wrongs, or know where your karmic standing lies besides saying an animal is a
lower karmic standing than a man. Without knowing how you can improve your karmic standing or
how let go of caring about your karmic standing, Buddhism creates its own impossibility to receive
enough good karma to achieve true

actions would be legal; but just because accounting is within the rules does not mean that it is
ethical. Furthermore, legality is a continuum, and the line between legal and illegal practices is
blurry, and subject to individual interpretation. Legality and ethics are also not co extensive, and
thus it would not significantly adjust my argument (D Souza, Jacob, Ramesh, 2001; Rizzi, 2002).

Tale Of Two Cities Literary Analysis
In the novel A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens establishes that revenge is sinful by using the
French Revolution s rebel peasants, fire, and water. Dickens discreetly uses fire and water in
several instances to describe the relationship between revenge and anger, and the cycle the two
create. As the years passed in France, the violence the rebels exhibited grew worse and worse. In
such risings of fire and risings of sea the firm earth shaken by the rushes of an angry ocean which
had now no ebb, but was always on the flow, higher and higher, to the terror, and wonder of the

Doctor Manette is talking to a peasant boy who has been stabbed about his sister, another patient
Manette has just seen, and her recent marriage. The conversation turns into a rant from the boy
about nobles, specifically Monsieur the Marquis. I say, we were so robbed, and hunted, and
were made so poor, that our father told us it was a dreadful thing to bring a child into the world,
and that what we should most pray for was that our women might be barren and our miserable
race die out, I had never before seen the sense of being oppressed, bursting forth like a fire. I had
supposed that it must be latent in the people somewhere; but, I had never seen it break out, until I
saw it in the dying boy, (Dickens 315). Dickens again uses fire to represent contempt and anger,
this time in a more personal example of the dying peasant boy. The Marquis took everything from
this boy: his quality of life, willingness to live, and his life itself. Choosing the word barren casts an
even more negative connotation over the already pessimistic topic of infertility. Also, in most
instances, fathers want nothing more than grandchildren from their sons, but the conditions in
France are so atrocious he would rather his family die out. This demonstrates how desolate and
hopeless France had become for peasants; on the bright side,

Delay Analysis Of The Critical Path
All of the delay analysis techniques in this case study depend on the analysis of the critical path.
These methods are categorized as the CPM techniques for quantification. Methods like as
planned vs. as built are simple and easy to perform; it just follows the basic guidelines without
referencing with the supplementary data and any modification. On the other hand, methods like
window analysis, collapsed as built using complex, additive and subtractive analysis give better
and accurate results because they take into account any changes during the project and therefore
recommended for incorporating in delay analysis. Not to mention, these methods need detailed
project information followed by rigorous analysis. The results could have been more specific if
detailed information in the form of daily reports, schedule of values and pay application would
have been available. By sticking to the basic number of delay in activities, most of the results
are observed to be close if not same. This research corroborates the use of impacted as planned,
collapsed as built, time impact analysis and as planned but for, for the analysis of delays in day to

G.I. Bill of Rights
The GI Bill gave all returning veterans the freedom and opportunities that non veterans had, and
provided them with many benefits needed to live the American dream. The GI Bill gave the United
States veterans education. It also provided VA hospitals with veteranbenefits. The law also made a
possible loan of billions of dollars to purchase homes for millions of veterans. The G.I Bill gave
opportunity to pursue formal education which a lot of veterans did since education was pretty
much paid for. In the short run, many colleges and universities were seriously jeopardized. In the
late 1940 s veterans bought homes in many of the new suburbs for $8,000 with no down payment
required.
World War II had a great toll on the nation s economy. It hurt many Americans, and a lot of them
had to leave their education to serve as soldiers and sailors. The war used many of the already
shorted resources, and with a lot of the men who ran farms, bakeries, and meat providers being
taken into war, this led to a shortage of cash flow and resources. During WWII Roosevelt talked
over the matter with President George F. Zook and other leaders of the American Council of
Education. He believed the federal government had a responsibility and an important role in
helping returning veterans get an education. Several Bills branched off the GI Bill including a
Vocational Rehabilitation Bill. This bill provided federal funds to retrain and rehabilitate veterans

Hotspur In King Henry IV
Violent change that is political in nature also arises through the character of Hotspur in the play,
King Henry IV, Part One. Like Evie and V s revolt, Hotspur, through the rebel camp, similarly
enacts a revolt against the established governmental power by specifically, trying to kill King
Henry IV. As with the other examples, Hotspur does this for personal reasons related to past
events. For instance, Hotspur believes that King Henry IV by not providing ransom for his brother
in law, Mortimer is consequently, not properly repaying his family for their previous assistance to
King Henry IV s ascension to the throne. Thus, just as in the Word for World is Forest, the conflict
that Hotspur creates in turn, causes counter violence. Notably, it

3. Geography was a primary factor in the shaping the development of the British colonies in
North America Assess the validity of this statement for the 1600 s. THESIS: During the 1600 s
many colonies in North America was beginning to form. Geography such as where ports where
and assessable to westward lands helped in the shaping of these British colonies. SUPPORT
/ANALYSIS: Located by ports: All of the Southern colonies that were located by waters were
the best location for ports. These ports would bring in trading goods and would easily allow these
colonies the export there goods anywhere along the waters, especially the major trade partner
England. This helped to shape these select colonies by labeling them as primarily trading colonies;
therefore they would be making the most amount of money amongst the colonists. Westward
expansion: On the other hand there were a select few new colonies that were located away from
ports, thus allowing them only to product agricultural goods, making money mainly from the
businesses that needed to export them. This shaped these colonies because this also allowed them
to move westward. Although these lands were filled with Indians, colonists didn t care; this gave
them more land to produce crops and to make more money. C. Multiple Choices 1. _______ reaped

Hathi And Kiplings
This week s readings suggest an order and rule in the jungle that is akin to that of a monarchy
which is perhaps influenced by Kiplings British heritage. Just as a prince is born from a King,
so was Hathi born from Tha, the Lord of the Jungle. In both scenarios, the rulers and leaders were
born into power and their rule is respected and honored by the followers. The drought brought all
the jungle together under one Law and Hathi was the enforcer. His leadership was not challenged
and once the water truce was declared, no animal challenged it. It was evident almost immediately
that How Fear Came is essentially a reiteration of the fall of the Garden of Eden and the
summoning away of Adam and Eve. Both the Bible and Tha s story start with

The Perception Of Mortality In Albert Camus s The Stranger
Mortality is a concept that can shadow a person s philosophy on life, and heavily influences the
behaviors and motivations of literary characters. Human beings question mortality and what it
means in alignment to the purpose and significance of living. Many of the character in the catalog
of our reading this semester have self made philosophies on mortality that manifest in the thought
processes of characters and direction their stories and lives take. The way that characters
comprehend mortality proves itself to be a major influence on the behaviors and motivations that
are integral to these novels. You see mortality through the lens of chance, existentialism, religion,
violence, even as the catalyst for appreciating life. The interpretations of mortality are often shaped
by the experiences we go through, and this holds true in complicated, simple, and unique texts. In
Albert Camus The Stranger, Meursault believes that life is meaningless in the face of death; it Is
assured that every human will die, so the choices we make in this lifetime have little relevance or
meaning. This theory that one life was as good as another (Camus, 22) governs much of this novel.
The first lines introduce the passing of Meursault s mother, immediately informing the reader of the
apathy he shows where most people would react with grief and reflect on the sadness of the
situation, Meursault reacts indifferently with That doesn t mean anything (Camus, 1). This is not a
direct reflection

Drug Trafficking In Costa Rica
Drug trafficking is the worldwide manufacturing, distribution, and selling of illegal substances.
Organizations called drug cartels are the illegal businesses that conduct this trade. According to the
UNODC, Afghanistan is the world s largest producer of heroin and other opiates, and the majority
of opiates produced in the world are trafficked through Afghanistan s surrounding countries. North
America accounts for 40% of the world s cocaine consumption, and Colombia is one of the largest
cocaine suppliers for both North America and Europe. Peru, Bolivia, and Central American
countries are some of the main cocaine suppliers in Europe. One of the first global drugconflicts
were the Opium wars (beginning in the early 1840 s), a series of conflicts... Show more content on

1,700 kilos of cocaine are approximated to be dealt through Costa Rica by the end of 2016. In
2014, more than 20% of the country s GDP was being used for drug trafficking, drug production,
corruption, tax evasion, and other crime. For most of the 2000 s Costa has led Central american
countries in drug confiscation, and the country s police organizations have been coordinated to
focus their efforts on patrolling ocean and sea routes for smuggling. Costa Rica is also working
with the US, Colombia, and Panama to diminish this problem. Unlike many other countries,
especially in Central America, it is not a criminal offence to possess drugs for immediate personal
use. Many Central American countries including Costa Rica are wanting an international debate
to reform drug legislations. In 2013, Costa Rica allied with the US to prevent drug cartels from
infiltrating the country. Besides improving security measures, Costa Rica has not proposed any
major resolutions to the drug trafficking problem. One method of prevention that the Costa Rican
government would be in favor of is focusing their efforts on shutting down drug cartels. Drug
cartels in particular pose large threats to many Latin American countries around Costa Rica, and
disbanding these cartels should be the main focus for this region. If drug cartels were no longer a
threat, Costa Rica would not have to fear being overtaken by these organizations, and the drug
supply around the rest of the world, especially Central America and the US, would be greatly

Nature And Chaos In Macbeth And Johann Wolfgang Von...
The entropy of the universe is constantly increasing; matter and energy naturally move to a more
disordered, chaotic state. Macbeth and Dr. Faust, characters from William Shakespeare s Macbeth
and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s Faust respectively, exist in similar worlds to ours, where nature
becomes more chaotic. Both texts involve the supernatural; however, the supernatural is not
separate from nature, but an extension or manifestation of it. In Macbeththe witches are the forces
of nature personified, causing chaos for mankind using natural phenomena such as the weather. In
Faust the Earth Spirit is a manifestation of the natural world that symbolizes the chaos of life and
the natural world. Furthermore, in both texts the chaos of the natural world spills over into the
nature of mankind. Man s natural psychological constitution is not one of pure reason, but, much
like the natural world, is multifaceted and chaotic. The characters interactions with the supernatural,
the forces of nature, and their psychological struggles reveal the authors thoughts on nature and
chaos. I argue that nature in Macbeth is something that man is tasked with conquering and bringing
order to, while Goethe criticizes this idea and argues that nature and its chaos should be embraced
as a source of truth, which we are naturally compelled to seek. This is significant because, when
interpreted this way, each text offers the reader an example of what may happen when man
embraces the chaos of nature.

The Time Frame Of Relevance For The American Mafia
During the early 1900s, specifically the 1920s, organizations involved in sophisticated crime
arose and lived on for decades, influencing American progress and culture. These organizations
came to be known as the American Mafia, the Italian Mafia, or the Italian Mob. These families ,
as they were called, sprung up in large cities all across the United States. The mob progressed
quickly in America, developing from the simplest of crimes to methodical, organized illegal
activity. The method of structure and the emphasis of loyalty and secrecy made insiders of the mob
very susceptible to exploitation by the local police and federal government agencies, many
instances of which were eventually revealed to the public. The mafia, while still around today, fell
in prominence and importance in the eyes of the American government and its people. The major
time frame of relevance for the American Mafiais about 1920 2001.
During a time when immigration flourished for the United States, specifically the late 1800s and
early 1900s, many people of different backgrounds and ethnicities did as was popular at the time
and moved to the fresh land of America, specifically the cities of New York and Chicago, in
search of better economic opportunity. The Italians that would eventually come to compose nearly
the entirety of the mob were included in this influx of people. The number of immigrants increased
by 800% between the years of 1880 and 1890, starting at 25,000 and growing to 250,000

Enthroned Madrandonna And Child With Saints Summary
Piero della Francesca s art has always been intriguing to the eyes of the lookers, analysers, every
art pieces containing lots of symbolism and meanings. The Altarpiece Madonna and child with
Saints adored by Frederico da Montefeltro was one of the work. Piero della Francesca was born in
1412 and was involved in the Early Renaissance movement. His style involved the use of
humanism, geometric forms and use of perspective to create art. From what I saw in the piece
Enthroned Madonnaand Child with Saints, the first thing I saw was a group of people
surrounding a woman with a baby. The atmosphere of the piece seems to be solemn and grief
even though the painting was painted in bright colours. It was the facial expressions of the people
that depict that it may not be a joyous event. The knight was at the forefront of the painting and
almost seems to be bigger than anyone else, it may suggest that he s important in the piece. Piero
also used linear perspective in the altarpiece, creating a sense of depth and the vanishing point at
around Marys eyes. With the use of geometry, Piero managed to create the background
architecture with such clarity which a lot of artists at that time couldn t achieve. Into further
observation, instead of thinking that the baby was bleeding, he was wearing a red necklace. The
red colour can be represented as blood pouring out of the baby, a symbol of life and death. From
the way the baby was positioned, it may be assumed that the baby is either

Carpentry Has Had A Great Impact On The Construction Industry
Carpenters are the second largest group with more than 1.3 million carpenters in the workforce in

Anne Bradstreet Contemplations Essay
Interpretations of Anne Bradstreet s Contemplations Critics often disagree about how to read Anne
Bradstreet s poetry, nonetheless they generally agree that Bradstreet s best work is to be found in
the late poem Contemplations (Rosenfeld 2). As a young academic, three important interpretations
I have found though extensive research are from Robert Boshman, Anne Hildebrand, and Oser Lee.
All three have different views on Anne Bradstreets poem Contemplations. Boshman describes
Bradstreet s poem as a reflection of God s omnipotence. Hildebrand explains how Contemplations
correlates to his five quaternions, most specifically the poem Four Elements . Lee talks about how
Bradstreet gained knowledge and vision from specific scholars and how it revealed in
Contemplations . All interpretations are significantly different from one another. Robert Boschman

She describes Contemplations and how it presents an alternative to the limited world of elements.
She explains that Bradstreet s contemplation of God depends on her prolonged contemplation of the
world in the quaternions (125). Contemplations is more subtle than the rigidly structured
Quaternions, but it is far from a random string of associations. In fact if the reader keeps in mind
the four fold order of the elements and their corresponding humors, ages, and seasons, he needs less
ingenuity to explain the four contrasts of nature and infinity in Contemplations (119). In the
beginning of Contemplations Bradstreet talks about the glory of the Sun. How it greatly
contributes to life on earth, and its importance to humans. Bradstreet addresses the fact that the sun
is so remarkable we cannot even look at it. This clearly symbolizes how glorious our creator must

From stick figures in the sand and the earliest animals painted and carved in stone, individuals
worldwide have responded to the world by using images. The ultimate goal line of art, especially

conditions, national or global issues and the demands of the public. To avoid the drawbacks of
judging all art by our own personal experiences and personal views, we have to learn the

The Godfather Essay examples
The Godfather is the story of a Mafia family. It follows the rise of Michael Corleone within the
family. Michael was once a war hero and did not want to be involved in the family business.
When his father is shot though, Michael takes revenge on the people who did it and becomes a
part of the Mafia lifestyle. When his older brother is murdered, Michael ascends to become the
boss of the family, and proves to be more ruthless than his father and brother combined. The scene
that I am analyzing is one where Michael is becoming his nephew s godfather at his baptism.
The Godfather is a traditionally edited movie. This particular scene however uses Eisenstein s
method of montage editing. Francis Ford Coppola uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are no special camera angles, with the exception of a few close ups. The camera remains
stationary. The meaning of the scene is inferred through the editing and the content. Coppola
uses this montage in order to give the audience an insight into Michael. He contrasts religion and
murder in order to show the complexity of Michael. The newly baptized baby is without sin, and
Michael is his guardian into life. Michael is extremely sinful; he has ordered murder as he is
taking the godfather vows. The use of religion and murder contrasted is representative of
Michael himself. It is used to show the mix of good and evil in him. In Hegel s dialectic,
Michael is the synthesis, a twisted mix of good and evil. The line between the two has become
blurred for him. He claims to reject Satan yet he commits the worst sin. He claims to believe in
god, yet does not follow the tenets of religion. He is the guardian of this child without sin, and he
is full of sin.
Coppola chose to use a montage in this segment.
The hard cuts between such polar opposites as baptism and murder reflects on the contrasts in the
main character. Overall, Coppola used this segment to communicate how twisted Michael has
become. Michael can no longer distinguish between good and evil or right and wrong. He only
evaluates his actions on whether or not they help him. It also shows the changes he has made in the
movie. The baptism and

Unethical And Criminal Behavior During The Prussian...
The experiment with human subject was brought to an attention to the Prussian Parliament, when
several unethical and criminal behaviors were traced in the field of research in Germany in the
nineteenth century. The research was mainly conducted unethically in the hospitals, mainly without
any informed consent. The turning point for the establishment of universal rule regarding human
experiment was done after the case of Neisser, where in 1898, Albert Neisser, who discovered the
gonococcus and professor of dermatology at university of Breslau, conducted clinical trials on
serum therapy in patients with syphilis. In order to find a method of syphilis prevention, he injected
cell free serum from patients with syphilis into patients who were admitted for other medical
conditions. Most of these patients were prostitutes, who were neither informed about the procedure,
nor asked for consent. After several discussions in the Prussian parliament about the case, attention
was given to the need of participant s autonomy and beneficence. The criticism of unethical human
experiments in the media and in the parliament, the Reich government issued detailed Guidelines
for new therapy and human experimentation in 1931 (Vollmann, Rolf, 1996).

  • 3. Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress Summary The novel, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, by Dai SiJie is about two boys, the narrator and his friend Luo. Along with other with other youths of China, they were both sent down to the country side during the Cultural Revolution of China to be re educated. At the time anyone that had high school education were considered intellectuals and were considered as a threat to the cultural movement. However, the narrator or Luo only had middle school education and were considered intellectuals. One big reason why they were sent down was because their parents were considered intellectuals and they were paying the price for it. During their time in the country side, Luo falls in love with a seamstress and throughout the novelshe is referred... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since love was a very foreign idea to them, it influenced them to become more interested in western book, which did not include any propaganda. When the narrator reads Jean Christophe a book by Romain Rolland, he talks about the main character fondly Without him I would never have understood the splendor of taking free and independent action as an individual. Up until this stolen encounter with Romain Rolland s hero, my poor educated and re educated brains had been incapable of gasping the notion of one man standing up against the whole world (110). This is the main reason why Mao didn t want people reading any kind of literature that was not connected to the party or scientific. Books such as the one the narrator read inspired people which can motivate then to rise up against his dictatorship and lead to his loss of power. When talking about the main character from the Balzac Ursule Mirouet novel, the narrater sates I longed to be like her: to be able, while I lay asleep on my bed, to see what my mother was doing in our apartment five hundred kilometers away, to watch my parents having supper, to observe their gestures...better still, like Ursele, I would visit, in my dreams, places I had never set eyes on before... (58 59). From this passage it can be seen how disillusioned the youth of China were due to the re education process. Another key reason why Luo and the narrator were so interested in the books was because they could relate to the stories. They were able to picture it happening to themselves which in a way gave them an escape from their reality and the fact that they might never be able to move ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Battle of Gettysburg Essay What was supposed to last 90 days, now dragged on for more than two years. It was apparent, now more than ever, that little was being accomplished but the taking of hundreds of thousands of lives. The war between the Union and Confederacy had been in a sort of deadlock where each side could claim victories as easy as defeats. By this time the south had the upper hand militarily wise, just coming off a magnificent tactical victory at Chancellorsville in May. General Lee headed the Confederacy s, Army of Northern Virginia, General Meade headed the Union s Army of the Potomac. Both sides saw the need to win that one, crucial victory to turn the tide completely in their favor. They would get their chances at a small town in Pennsylvania. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By this point in the war, the citizens of the Confederacy were growing more and more doubtful of their future as long as the war was being fought. Food was at a scarcity, money was gradually becoming worthless and thousands of soldiers had been killed. Lee s army was having a lot of success in Virginia since Fredericksburg in December 1862, but the war was exacting a heavy toll on life in the south. It was becoming evident to Lee and President Davis so they knew they had to get the spirit of the people to rise again. No better possible way to do so then by obliterating the Army of the Potomac on northern soil. In doing so, General Lee hoped to not only raise morale in his ranks and the south, but crush the northern spirit. A win here would for sure demoralize even more, those opposing the war in the north, which might get public opinion to swing to anti war. Also, Lee would pressure the north into sending troops from Washington, weakening its defenses or possibly draw troops from Grant s army at Vicksburg. On the other hand, General Meade s, Army of the Potomac also had reasons to win the battle. Newly appointed, General George Meade, had a huge task ahead of him. He had just assumed command of the Union s main eastern army and now he must halt Lee s advance. Two very difficult obstacles for him but if he couldn t stop the Army of Northern Virginia then his country was in jeopardy. With the capture of Vicksburg seeming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Cultural Narratives Influence On Society In the short amount of time that humanity has inhabited this planet, we have managed to leave a bigger imprint than any other species. The human population is well over 7 billion individuals and the presence of humanity is extended to all four corners of the globe. As a result of the large population, intellectual superiority, and the wide range of human existence, humanity has naturally transformed into a diverse populace. Consequently, cultural narratives are prominent in our daily lives and play a role in shaping our social interactions, opinions, and lifestyles. The influence of cultural narratives have only expanded with the growth in technology. Technology provides a platform for individuals to be connected with regions on the opposite side of the globe within seconds. This advancement has led to the widespread dispersion of cultural traditions and tendencies. This is evident in the news, social media, and other media platforms. Different cultures have developed different beliefs about what norms are and abide by those beliefs. If someone falls out of the lines of normality, most people immediately formulate an ethnocentric mindset and begin to create opinions that that person s cultureis inferior to their own. My family and I are especially aware of the degree of influence that cultural narratives have on society. The reason why cultural narratives have such a considerable influence in our daily lives is due to the fact that we originate from a Muslim background. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Research Study On New Key Markets Studying more deeply the geographic population, finding new key markets ready to be pierced by a new identifiable group with specific needs, is something I want to do. Being an entrepreneur that is studying carefully the rising market of elderly people seeking to upgrade their standard vehicle to a mobility vehicle and selling it to them is something I am looking forward to. This segment of the population is rising, now that the baby boomers are in their retirement years. The article is old (10 years old), but the information is still relevant and the currency does not matter in the sense where we shouldn t pay attention to this potential market because the elderly population is still raising ...and by 2020 that number is expected to double, surpassing 40 million. (said Guyette p.24). This article could be considerate even as recent since the baby boomers ended in the mid 60s and the market is still rising. It is also relevant to a potential career as a Marketing researcher and in entrepreneurship, as it explains the low implication of dealerships to sell mobility vehicles and insurance company repairing the potential damages made inadequately. Also, collision shops seem unprepared to repair these issues. These issues are caused by unprepared people towards this market, which is relevant to the challenges I will face. • 8. A Brief Note On Porsche s Engine Downsizing Porsche s Engine Downsizing There are more than one billion cars in the world right now and this number is increasing everyday due to the demand of the cars. Most of the cars in the world have big engines right now. What a big engine means is the eight cylinder V8, ten cylinder V10, or twelve cylinder V12 engines. Those types of engines have been used for many years in the car industry. All the car manufacturers prefer to use those engines because people like them and thinking that more cylinder means more power. For many years those car manufacturers have not realized one thing that big engines emission rates are really bad and those engines are actually creating tons of carbon monoxide because they have more cylinders. Basically more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Porsche started to downsize their engines to fit their engine emission rates to the new rules. By that move, Porsche was one of the first sports car manufacturer that started to downsize their engines. Downsizing the engine mean is actually pretty simple. They are actually taking 4.8 liter, eight cylinder V8 engine and changing it with the 3.6 liter, six cylinder V6 engine. When they are making the engine smaller, they are also adding that engine a turbocharger to make it much powerful as the bigger engine. (Turbocharger is helping the engine to get more air to the pistons to increase it is performance) Most of the Porsche customers thought bigger engines were stronger and it makes the car go faster. Actually, it is not true because when they add turbochargers to the engine, it makes the car much powerful as the bigger engines. Another thing about the downsizing the engine is the fact that, when the manufacturer downsizes the engine they are actually making the car lighter. When a car becomes lighter, it is actually goes faster than the previous models because it has much power as the old model, but it is lighter. • 9. Television Programs Can Support And Facilitate Language... For many years, parents have relied on using educational programs to teach and engage their children with new concepts and materials. Conversely, many children have also used television as an opportunity for learning and language development. For example, the rise of television programs like Elmo Street and Teletubbies demonstrates this upward trend of substituting media sources for teaching and learning. However, despite the increasing support from parents toward television programs, many researchers have mixed reviews on putting our children into viewing long hours of what they considered unnecessary learning. Thus in what follows of this paper, I will focus on explaining how television programs can support and facilitate language development. Moreover, I will also discuss the mixed literacy support for using television as a learning tool and finally, I will conduct a study that measures, specifically, the relationship between watching educational TV and learning novel words. Hopefully, with these measures, I will be able to find supporting evidence that proves educational TV can be a good predictor for word learning. Through the years, one continuous point of debate has been whether educational TV can facilitate and improve word learning in children. Many studies on this debate have found distinct and mixed research outcomes. For example, one study has been Mabel s Rice Word from Sesame Street, in which he found mixed supporting evidence that television programs can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately, there is an extreme disconnect in providing adequate services to people that have committed crimes after they have met all rehabilitative requirements under the law. The prisonsystem was initially designed to rehabilitate people that have operated outside of the confines of law so that once their debt is paid they are to assimilate back into society. The Conscription act would tear apart the already existing social divides in Canada. Firstly the French British divide became more profound during and after the war. The British where more inclined to join and agree with the conscription act as they had more family and ties to the lands where WW1 was waged. The French on the other hand usually married younger and had families making them more reluctant to join the war effort. Furthermore the French Canadians did not believe in the war effort as they where underrepresented in Canada and where therefore less inclined to fight for a Government that does not fighter for them. The Grignard Synthesis of Triphenylmethanol Abstract: The purpose of this lab was to synthesize triphenylmethanol from benzophenone and bromobenzene by the formation of a Grignard compound with the reagents bromobenzene and magnesium metal. The bromobenzene was first transformed into the Grignard compound and was then reacted with the benzophenone to make the final product. The mixture was then mixed with sulfuric acid and the organic layer was extracted via a separatory funnel. The mixture was then recrystallized from methanol and was allowed to dry and the percent yield, melting point, and the IR was obtained. The mass of the product obtained was 5.45 grams and the percentage yield was determined to be 41.95%. The melting point range obtained from the final product was 89 91В°C... This essay is aimed to focus on and examine the importance of having a separation of powers and the reasons for having same in the United Kingdom s constitution. We shall further look into the structure of the United Kingdom s constitution whilst assessing its somewhat unclear separation of powers which exist and assess the reasons why the United Kingdoms system of government does not adhere to the doctrine of the separation of powers. The separation of powers is defined as the political doctrine of constitutional law under which the branches of government are divided to prevent an abuse of power. These three branches are the Legislative, Executive and Judicial and are assigned special powers to maintain a check and balance on each other. In this essay, we shall further go on to discuss the roles and functions of each of the mentioned branches of government and the extent to which this defined separation of power is enforced and/or practiced in the United Kingdom s system of government taking into account the traditional structure that has been maintained over the years. Aristotle states, There are three elements in each constitution ...first, the deliberative, which discusses everything of common importance; second the officials; and third, the judicial element. I believe there is no place for politicians or government to get in the way of the woman choice. The Battle Of The War On The State, And Post Cold War Introduction: Ever since the Napoleonic Wars, war was a concept that was considered to be under the purview of the State, however this belief is inherently wrong. In all of history, warfare has been engaged by private actors as opposed to the State. In fact, the State as the dominant actor in warfare should be understood as the exception, rather than the norm. Even though the State has not been the dominant actor in warfare, there were certainly multiple attempts by the State to control, or have governance over warfare as a whole. International order, though it may be fleeting in the grand scheme of history, seems to be at least on a continuous track of lingering longer and longer each time before chaos takes over. The Persians, Greeks, and Romans all seemed to enjoy ever increasing periods of relative peace at the top of their systems of international order before it unraveled. Most of Europe was in good order on the tail of the Industrial Revolution until some arch duke decided to vacation in Sarajevo. After each major conflict, the world re shuffles itself and order is established again in some form or fashion. The players are bigger and more numerous with greater consequences for conflict but order is still unseated from time to time and the rules of the existing orders seem to change daily. Realism can explain this violent cycle of order and disorder. States and even non state actors continuously seek to balance regional powerin order to secure their survival in a world dominated by fear and uncertainty; if unable to balance that power through violent means, players will seek to form alliances and organizations to at least prevent domination; once a status quo has been created and survival is temporarily assured, players will seek to maintain life within that order; new members thrust the order back into violence and potentially chaos if unable or unwilling to play by those rules. The design and visual characteristics of The First Sermon serve as clear evidence that the work was created during the rule of the Kushan empire, specifically in Gandhara. • 36. Buddhism Diane Morgan Analysis Buddhism has many interesting aspects, but in this paper, I will be focusing on a passage from Essential Buddhism by Diane Morgan, about karma. In her book, karma is defined as both action and fruits of action (page 82). Karma is what Buddhist believes your life is shaped by whether it be good or bad Karma. Especially when it comes to reincarnation, since, with good karma you are believed to be reincarnated into better levels of life forms. For example an animal could become a human man. On the other hand, bad karma will downgrade your reincarnation to a less desired level. Karma seems to be independently driven as Morgan states in the passage that There is no punishing god ... Any action good or bad, is a karmic seed that carries within... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the religion karma is karma and it affects all sentient beings (page 85). Since there is not an immediate punishment to create good karmic seeds, there is a lack of motivation for people in the faith to follow that way of thinking. Unless you are completely devoted to the face, a common individual would lack the will to go to such extremes in hopes they might one day become enlightened in another life. I believe that because humans tend to make inherently bad choices, it is impossible for an average human being who is not able to just dedicate all thoughts and time to the Buddhist practice to achieve enough good karmic seeds to accomplish nirvana. Especially, since it is said that you will have no recollection of your past life, making it difficult to correct your past wrongs, or know where your karmic standing lies besides saying an animal is a lower karmic standing than a man. Without knowing how you can improve your karmic standing or how let go of caring about your karmic standing, Buddhism creates its own impossibility to receive enough good karma to achieve true ... Furthermore, legality is a continuum, and the line between legal and illegal practices is blurry, and subject to individual interpretation. Legality and ethics are also not co extensive, and thus it would not significantly adjust my argument (D Souza, Jacob, Ramesh, 2001; Rizzi, 2002). 15 11 Shareholders were led to believe that CA was more profitable than it was, and consequently suffered enormous losses. Dickens discreetly uses fire and water in several instances to describe the relationship between revenge and anger, and the cycle the two create. As the years passed in France, the violence the rebels exhibited grew worse and worse. In such risings of fire and risings of sea the firm earth shaken by the rushes of an angry ocean which had now no ebb, but was always on the flow, higher and higher, to the terror, and wonder of the beholders on the shore three years of tempest were consumed, (Dickens 225). Doctor Manette is talking to a peasant boy who has been stabbed about his sister, another patient Manette has just seen, and her recent marriage. The conversation turns into a rant from the boy about nobles, specifically Monsieur the Marquis. I say, we were so robbed, and hunted, and were made so poor, that our father told us it was a dreadful thing to bring a child into the world, and that what we should most pray for was that our women might be barren and our miserable race die out, I had never before seen the sense of being oppressed, bursting forth like a fire. I had supposed that it must be latent in the people somewhere; but, I had never seen it break out, until I saw it in the dying boy, (Dickens 315). Dickens again uses fire to represent contempt and anger, this time in a more personal example of the dying peasant boy. The Marquis took everything from this boy: his quality of life, willingness to live, and his life itself. Choosing the word barren casts an even more negative connotation over the already pessimistic topic of infertility. Also, in most instances, fathers want nothing more than grandchildren from their sons, but the conditions in France are so atrocious he would rather his family die out. This demonstrates how desolate and hopeless France had become for peasants; on the bright side, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The war used many of the already shorted resources, and with a lot of the men who ran farms, bakeries, and meat providers being taken into war, this led to a shortage of cash flow and resources. • 49. The Perception Of Mortality In Albert Camus s The Stranger Mortality is a concept that can shadow a person s philosophy on life, and heavily influences the behaviors and motivations of literary characters. Human beings question mortality and what it means in alignment to the purpose and significance of living. Many of the character in the catalog of our reading this semester have self made philosophies on mortality that manifest in the thought processes of characters and direction their stories and lives take. The way that characters comprehend mortality proves itself to be a major influence on the behaviors and motivations that are integral to these novels. You see mortality through the lens of chance, existentialism, religion, violence, even as the catalyst for appreciating life. The interpretations of mortality are often shaped by the experiences we go through, and this holds true in complicated, simple, and unique texts. In Albert Camus The Stranger, Meursault believes that life is meaningless in the face of death; it Is assured that every human will die, so the choices we make in this lifetime have little relevance or meaning. This theory that one life was as good as another (Camus, 22) governs much of this novel. The first lines introduce the passing of Meursault s mother, immediately informing the reader of the apathy he shows where most people would react with grief and reflect on the sadness of the situation, Meursault reacts indifferently with That doesn t mean anything (Camus, 1). Costa Rica is also working with the US, Colombia, and Panama to diminish this problem. Besides improving security measures, Costa Rica has not proposed any major resolutions to the drug trafficking problem. One method of prevention that the Costa Rican government would be in favor of is focusing their efforts on shutting down drug cartels. • 51. Nature And Chaos In Macbeth And Johann Wolfgang Von... The entropy of the universe is constantly increasing; matter and energy naturally move to a more disordered, chaotic state. Macbeth and Dr. Faust, characters from William Shakespeare s Macbeth and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s Faust respectively, exist in similar worlds to ours, where nature becomes more chaotic. Both texts involve the supernatural; however, the supernatural is not separate from nature, but an extension or manifestation of it. In Macbeththe witches are the forces of nature personified, causing chaos for mankind using natural phenomena such as the weather. In Faust the Earth Spirit is a manifestation of the natural world that symbolizes the chaos of life and the natural world. Furthermore, in both texts the chaos of the natural world spills over into the nature of mankind. Man s natural psychological constitution is not one of pure reason, but, much like the natural world, is multifaceted and chaotic. The characters interactions with the supernatural, the forces of nature, and their psychological struggles reveal the authors thoughts on nature and chaos. I argue that nature in Macbeth is something that man is tasked with conquering and bringing order to, while Goethe criticizes this idea and argues that nature and its chaos should be embraced as a source of truth, which we are naturally compelled to seek. This is significant because, when interpreted this way, each text offers the reader an example of what may happen when man embraces the chaos of nature. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Enthroned Madrandonna And Child With Saints Summary Piero della Francesca s art has always been intriguing to the eyes of the lookers, analysers, every art pieces containing lots of symbolism and meanings. The Altarpiece Madonna and child with Saints adored by Frederico da Montefeltro was one of the work. Piero della Francesca was born in 1412 and was involved in the Early Renaissance movement. His style involved the use of humanism, geometric forms and use of perspective to create art. From what I saw in the piece Enthroned Madonnaand Child with Saints, the first thing I saw was a group of people surrounding a woman with a baby. The atmosphere of the piece seems to be solemn and grief even though the painting was painted in bright colours. It was the facial expressions of the people that depict that it may not be a joyous event. The knight was at the forefront of the painting and almost seems to be bigger than anyone else, it may suggest that he s important in the piece. Piero also used linear perspective in the altarpiece, creating a sense of depth and the vanishing point at around Marys eyes. With the use of geometry, Piero managed to create the background architecture with such clarity which a lot of artists at that time couldn t achieve. Into further observation, instead of thinking that the baby was bleeding, he was wearing a red necklace.
