Language And Bias In Language
Language and Bias In New York City, hundreds of languages have been spoken everyday on the street
as a grand representation that we live in a multilingual society. However, within the multilingual
society minority language is often deemed as not useful due to the cultural, social and economical
advantages that dominant language is able to bring along with it. This explains that why some of
second generation immigrants are unable to speak in their heritage language, because they or their
parents hold this belief. Also, this kind of attitude can be even found in the classroom. According to
Mallinson, Professor of Language, Literacy, and Culture, from University of Maryland and Hudley,
Associate Professor of Education, English, and Linguistics from College of William Mary, study
suggests that teachers might subconsciously or consciously favor students who talk like them and
judge negatively toward students who doesn t. This would discourage that students from different
language background to speak, crate linguistic insecurity and ultimately affect their academic
performance (2017). Additionally, Minority languages could face challenges related to governmental
power. During the Francisco Franco era, the dictator banned the Catalan language from speaking in
public. Because the dictator wanted to create a Spanish centralized nation. Prominent Catalan figures
were prosecuted; Catalan language in the public education system was suppressed. As a result,

Advantages Of Nationalisation In Business
For years, nationalisation has been a prohibited subject within British economies and politics.
However, Jeremy Corbyn s economic project has been concentrated around nationalisation. One of
Corbyn s arguments has been that, national ownership of particular businesses can, promote long term
development of the economy, help to acquire a renovating infrastructure and also provide a quality
health and social care system. Furthermore, with the use of examples from around the world, Corbyn
attempts to illustrate that the state is an ineffective manager, and also indicate the positive
contributions of national ownership. Furthermore, in the UK, national state ownership has previously
been too centralised, with authority in the hands of a private and commercial elite, which promotes
Adam Smith s ideology. This is portrayed when he said, Avarice overrates the difference between
poverty and riches: ambition, that between a private and a public station... , demonstrating that
entrepreneurs drive economies and that their profits are a reward for their own risk, with this being the
Just World theory. In addition, the ideology of Freidrich A. Hayek is also supported by this, and is
illustrated when he said, The more the state plans the more difficult planning is for the individual ,
indicating that the state is exploiting and alienating the population of the UK. Therefore, to improve
national ownership in the UK, measures have to be taken in order to increase the democratic

Mexico s Independence From Spain Becoming A Young...
On 1821 Mexico won its independence from Spain becoming a young independent country. Mexico
was faced with many challenges after the wars for independence. The economy had been ravaged.
Many had died. The social dislocation caused by the wars and all its residual wounds had still to be
healed. And in this chaotic environment the Mexican tried to forge a nation out of growing economic,
social, and political, instability. An independent Mexican congress was also formed made up of
conservative criollos who debate the future course of Mexico. Mexico was organized as a federal
republic composed of 19 states and 4 territories. After its independence, Mexico had a vast territory
and not enough citizens to occupy the land. Mexican government afraid to losing the un occupy land,
encourage immigration from the united states to become Mexican citizen and reside on the Mexican
territory called Texas. True the years, the Anglo immigrant population in taxes grow so fast that when
the Mexican government try to obtain control over it was too late. According to Acuna, By 1844 war
with Mexico over Texas and the Southwest was only a matter of time. James K. Polk, who strongly
advocated the annexation of Texas and expansionism in general, won the presidency by only a small
margin, but his election was interpreted as a mandate for national expansion Europeans are guilty of

Irrigation Medicine Case Study
The effects of different irrigation treatments and CO2 concentrations on the stomatal conductance (gs)
and transpiration rate (Tr), of maize are shown in Fig. 4a, b, c, d. The figure shows that gs and Tr
decreased with the enrichment of CO2 concentrations under both RI and DI. Compared with RI400, gs
and Tr were 27 and 23% lower under DI400; for the elevated CO2 concentrations, gs and Tr were 22
36 and 25 26% lower under DI when compared with RI. Relative reductions in gs and Tr due to the DI
treatment were therefore more pronounced along with elevated CO2 concentrations.
Compared with RI400, RI550 RI700 RI900 decreased gs by 13, 22, and 33%, and Tr by 12, 23, and
38%, respectively. Compared with DI400, DI550 DI700 DI900 decreased gs by 8, ... Show more

While compared with DI400, DI550 DI700 DI900 increased Tleaf by 2.4, 4.0, and 5.7%, respectively.
Hence the relatively increase in Tleaf caused by elevated CO2 concentrations was higher under DI
than under RI. Leaf temperature was highly correlated with Tr under most conditions (Pallas et al.,
1967). And it was obvious to see that the higher Tr was shown in the markedly lower Tleaf, and vice
versa, namely the so called transpiration cooling effect (Pallas et al., 1967). So when the elevated CO2
concentration reduced Tr, the Tleaf increased. Also with decrease in soil water in DI condition, Tr was
decreasing; meanwhile, Tleaf rose more remarkable than that only under elevated CO2 conditions. As
that Tr cannot be ignored in the changes of Tleaf (Cook et al., 1964; Gates, 1964), and Tr changes was
more pronounced under DI, so as to the changes of Tleaf.
Figure 4 e and f show the effect of different irrigation treatments and CO2 concentrations on net
photosynthetic rate (Pn). Net photosynthetic rate increased with the enrichment of CO2 concentration.
Compared with RI400, Pn was 24% lower under DI400; for the elevated CO2 concentrations, Pn was
15 20% lower under DI when compared with RI. Relative reductions in Pn due to the DI treatment
was therefore weakened along with elevated CO2 concentrations.
Compared with RI400, RI550 RI700 RI900 increased Pn by 30, 45, and 59%, respectively, while
compared with DI400, DI550 DI700 DI900 increased Pn by 37, 51, and 77%,

Teen Pregnancy And Its Effect On Children
My mother always said You are a princess and your body is a temple, so treat it like one . As I grew
up, that was the phrase that made a profound impact on my childhood. My parents felt that for me to
be confident and successful, I would have to be at peace emotionally and physically during the most
crucial years of my growth. They always said Do not become another one of the statistics! . In my
early teenage years I believed that they kept me sheltered, but now in my freshmen year of college, I
could not be more thankful for their guidance and protection. At the time I did not understand what
she meant, but after my years in high school it all made sense. I, like many other teens, would gain
knowledge on relationships and sexuality. In this country teen pregnancy has high increase in
minorities, one of the main reasons why the population is expanding. It is through proper knowledge
of sexuality and protection that female teens are able to prevent pregnancy.
Coming from a family of immigrants, I have many life goals. I always enjoyed school and participated
in extracurricular activities. My parents emphasized that keeping myself healthy and well rounded
would grant me virtue and confidence. All of middle and high school I played tennis for my school
and club team. While I kept myself fit, my coaches and mentors continually motivated me, even when
I struggled. Outside of class, I participated in Model United Nations and spent a great amount of time

Darwin s Theory Of Biological Evolution
Evolution refers to the processes that have transformed life on Earth from its earliest forms to the vast
diversity that characterizes it today (Campbell, 1993). However, a lot of things can change over a
period of time. The Father of Evolution who is known as Charles Darwin, developed the theory of
biological evolution. This theory has long been debated during and after darwin s time. Biological
evolution can be seen through a momentous change in organisms by changing of the genetic
composition. Darwin s theory did not only create a topic of controversy, but it was able to create a way
of understanding life through biological evolution.
The traditional Judeo Christian version of Creationism was strongly reinforced by James ... Show

It had a beginning, but it has no ending. Creation is always busy making new scenes, new things and
new Worlds (Weiner 3). In the bible it states that all living things were created at the hands of God. No
one has ever desired to challenge the Catholic Church of this belief. Until a man by the name of
Charles Darwin discovered the wonders on Daphne Major. After his survey of the island, he concluded
that there was something about the finches beaks that made them unique to each of the islands.
Making meticulous observations of the beaks he saw that each finch had a specific set of beaks. This
allowed them to adapt to a specific niche in their environment. What is more. the tame little birds that
Darwin had found hopping around beneath the bushes were unique too. They were not relatives of
blackbirds, walders, wrens, and finches, as Darwin had thought when he bagged them (Weiner 28).
Darwin speculated about how natural selection is one of the main concepts for biological evolution.
Natural selection consisted of descent with modification, known as a gradual process over time,
heritable biological traits become either more or less common in a population. When the next
generation of that species gains that dominant trait in the population, this is known as descent with
modification. Observing descent with modification is still prominent during that time period.
According to the Variation Lab, natural selection was the driving mechanism for biological evolution.

Diet Coke Twisted Mango Commercial
I thought that the Diet Coke Twisted Mango commercial was very poorly done. The commercial
featured actress Hayley Magnus, who takes a sip of Diet Coke and starts dancing uncontrollably.
Overall, I thought that the commercial was very annoying and ineffective. The main reason that I felt
the commercial was bad was because the dancing was very distracting. The poor dancing drew my
attention away from the product itself. As I watched the poor dancing I was cringing. The dancing was
so bad that my assumptions carried over to what Diet Coke Twisted Mango will likely taste like (very
poor). In addition to the poor choreography, it seemed like Diet Coke put very minimal time and effort
into the making of the commercial. And after researching

Socioeconomic Mobility And Social Mobility
In the United States, there is a imaginary finish line wanting to be met by its people. Living like the
privileged strives people towards working harder to meet that goal, but the amount of hard work being
invested into the bigger picture does not really mean you will make it. It is shown that a low
percentage of the average hard working person meets the one percent that owns more than half the
money circulated within the U.S (Beeghley 2008). Social mobility, where it all begins is taken into
account from the day a person is born based on the social class their parent or parents are under or
above on the ladder. According to the text there are five factors in social mobility those are
intergenerational, upward and downward social mobility, structural and exchange mobility. In chapter
eight point four a women by the name of Janice was expressed in the text as a women who joined the
intergenerational group who made it to an upward social mobility due to her college experience and
degrees earned meeting the change in social class from one generation to the next on the account of
her single mother who worked under a toyota dealership (lopoo and DeLeire 2012). She so happened
to be born when the economy was booming and was given an abundance of opportunity within
businesses and colleges were looking for women with a working class background. Janice later goes
on to owning her own business. The chances of being born when opportunity is great is by chance,

John Donne and W; T Comparative Essay
A text is essentially a product of its context, as its prevailing values are inherently derived by the
author from society. However, the emergence of post modern theories allows for audience
interpretation, thus it must be recognised that meaning in texts can be shaped and reshaped.
Significantly, this may occur as connections between texts are explored. These notions are reflected in
the compostion of Edson s W;t and Donne s poetry as their relationship is established through
intertextual references, corresponding values and ideas and the use of language features. Edson

A possible passage through the American continent to the indies was earnestly being explored just as
the poet s body was probably being probed and prodded to seek enlightenment or a successful path.
This analogy is made clear by the clever extended pun on straits as both a trade route and a personal
dilemma. They are itemised so that the link is not missed for the Western Sea, to which all the straits
led, also represents death and entry into the next life: So death doth touch the Resurrection Likewise
to John Donne, Edison engages with the concept of death and what, if anything comes after it. While
Bearing does not openly ponder what comes after death in the play, she is tangibly struggling with the
fear of death. Her own feelings are mirrored by Donne s If poisnous minerals is shown through her
analysis. In her analysis she says, Donne finds God s forgiveness hard to believe, so he crawls under a
rock to hide. Rather than trust God s mercy I want to hide. I just want to curl up into a little ball.
Donne s poem If Poisonous Minerals has a direction relationship to the The Runaway Bunny read by
Bearing in her childhood. It provides for her an allegory for God s mercy allowing her to

Essay The Avant-Garde Die First
The Avant Garde Die First
In the 19th century, under the suffocating weight of a centuries long tradition in academic art, artists
began to break free. Tired of meaningless imitation and decoration, the avant garde artists pushed for
drastic revolutions in aesthetic and social taste. This experimentation rapidly grew less and less
controlled, and new technique and new style, which shocked and enraged the critics and public,
stopped being experimental and started desiring the side effects of shock and disgust. There is an error
in believing the artist is always ahead of his time, will always be understood in the future, and is a

Their ideas may have been the first of a radical new tradition, but they weren t the most ostentatious.
Later movements like Dada, Surrealism, and art post World War II, would more clearly demonstrate
the extreme separation the term avant garde implies.
It is important to reflect on the detachment of art from its former religious manifestations, where the
painting was a moving piece of symbolic meaning (Barzun 32). According to Jacques Barzun, a
painting connected with the viewer because it reflected some manner of spiritual recognition; it was
the attachment to God or spiritual symbolism that satisfied the patron and provoked emotion, not the
piece of art itself. The Renaissance glorification of man, the scattering and weakening of the creeds of
Protestant Reformation, and the general unbelief caused by the progress of science caused art to
become an idea into itself (Barzun 33). These modern issues Barzun blames for the rise of art as a
religion, with the avant garde artists acting as seer, and prophet bearing revelation (33).
As Barzun stated, progress in science and technology became gradually more and more important as
both were seemingly helping humankind advance itself (Arnason 46). Artists, no

Edward Hopper, An American Realist Painter
Edward Hopper was an American realist painter born in 1882 in New York. After studying art and
many journeys, he had trouble getting famous and put on the art world map. But finally, in 1933, a
first installation is dedicated to him at the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York. His works
are mainly inspired by his journeys, trips to different places and the solitude of the American in the
twentieth century. Nighthawks is his most famous piece of art (Laura Herail, blog). After researching
and looking at many of his paintings, this artwork portrays sadness and yet it is not a sad picture. It
could be something enticing and yet charming about anonymous diners. The lack of domesticity
offering a relief what can be the full comfort of home. It may be easier to give away to sadness here
than in a cozy living room with wallpaper and framed pictures. Home often appears to have betrayed
Hopper s characters, something has happened there that forces them out into the night and on to the
road. The 24 hour diner is a sanctuary for those who for some reason or another have failed to find
there place in the normal world of relationships or community. Hopper s ability to portray solitude
comes from his own familiarity with it. He lead comfortable middle class childhood as a son of a
merchant, yet inside Hopper often felt a little bit awkward like an outsider. Hoping for a while to be an
artist and yet his parents insisted he trains in commercial art to keep afloat financially. He hated

Detailed Description Of The Raccoon
Detailed description of the Raccoon The raccoon is a native mammal, measuring about 3 feet long,
including its 12 inch, bushy, ringed tail. While most Raccoons weigh between 12 and 22 pounds,
raccoons can grow as large as 60 pounds as has been reported in some areas such as Washington,
Maine, and Minnesota. Additionally, their weights are dependent on their genetics, age, availability of
food, and habitat location. Furthermore, because their hind legs are longer than the front legs,
raccoons tend to have hunched appearance when they walk or run. According to nature magazine
raccoons are very tactile animals, the five toes on their front paws are extremely dexterous, essentially
functioning as five little fingers which allow it to grasp and then manipulate food and a variety of
other objects; hence, it is not surprising to see a raccoon picking up grapes and berries very much like
a human would. They are known for their exceptional hearing and night vision; the excellent hearing
and night vision are both very useful for locating small prey such as beetles, grasshoppers, and
crickets. According to the article titled, Life and habitat of Raccoon (n.d), Raccoons are also
outstanding climbers and are one of the very few animals that can descend a tree head first a feat
accomplished by turning their paws 180 degrees . They are reluctant to swim even though they can
swim. Worth noting is that raccoons are omnivorous, meaning they eat both plants and animals, they

Comparing August 2026 And There Will Come Soft Rains
Ray Bradbury s short story August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains shares several recurring themes
and points with Sara Teasdale s poem, There Will Come Soft Rains. Bradbury s story describes a lone
house in the remains of a futuristic city, destroyed by a nuclear war. Teasdale s poem states the theory
that if humankind were to disintegrate, it would hardly be remembered, let alone missed. Both works
share similar elements revolving around rain, and mankind s passing going unnoticed. Though they
build off of each other in this way, these pieces also differ in a few areas, such as the belief that
mankind or the means of its demolition will be forgotten by all entities. The similarities and
differences between the poem and the short story highlight the central themes in both pieces.
In both creations, rain is an important recurring component. In Ray Bradbury s story, the first
reference to rain is in the very beginning, when the weather machine reports, Rain, rain, go away;

to a certain extent that if humankind were to come to an end, there would be little or no memory of it.
On the contrast side of the analysis, the pieces differed on two primary points. First, the theory that
humankind would be forgotten entirely was posed by the poem, and only partially agreed upon by the
short story. The other point that was different between the two pieces was the speculation that the
destruction of mankind itself would go unremembered as well. Both pieces, though differing in a few
primary opinions, worked well to accentuate both the specific and more general points in one

inexpensive way to whiten teeth, and disinfect cuts and scrapes. Let s take a closer look at hydrogen

Ingredients:
2 tbsp hydrogen peroxide
1 tbsp baking soda
Tools:

Instructions:
1. Add the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda into a small bowl. Stir to combine into a paste.
2. Dip your toothbrush in the mixture and start brushing.
3. Allow the paste to stay on your teeth for about a minute, and then rinse thoroughly.
I personally use this homemade whitening paste, but only once or twice a month. If you have very bad
stains on your teeth, you could use it initially, once a week until you notice an improvement. More
often, however, and the baking soda could break down the enamel over time, causing sensitivity. And
of course, make sure to maintain your regular oral care regimen.
Remove earwax
All humans and other mammals have earwax. It consists of shed skin cells, hair, and the secretions
from glands of the outside ear canal. Although gross, it serves its purpose. Namely, protecting the ear
canal against bacteria, fungi and water. But, too much earwax and your ears may feel full, affecting
your hearing. Although, most experts agree that removing earwax is not entirely necessary, you may
still want to clean your ears time and again. The problem is, rooting around your ear canal with a Q tip
can actually push wax further inside. So, instead of cleaning your ear out, the wax gets stuck. As a
result, wax builds up on top of it, creating a dangerous blockage or impaction, according to NYU

Sex And The City Motherhood Essay
Motherhood in America is something that takes a lot of work and dedication and can be considered a
full time job. Sex and the City, black ish, and Jane the Virgin are three examples that present
motherhood in different lights. In the movie Sex and the City portrays motherhood as something no
women can do alone. In black ish it shows a dream world where a mother can work a full time job and
still be able to be around for her kids. Compared to these unrealistic forms of media, Jane The Virgin
shows the true struggles of raising a baby. It shows how it takes a village to raise a baby and how
motherhood is not always sunshine and rainbows. Using Radical Cultural Feminism and Materialist

One view of the Materialist Feminist is that women are taught to see their bodies as commodities. This
is very true in Jane The Virgin concerning Petra. They would have liked that Petra uses her body to get

beauty is what is important and what will get her through life. In Season 1 episode 5 Petra s mother

beauty is your weapon. Petra has been raised to use her body has a commodity. The system of Petra
using her body as a commodity to get ahead is bad. But, she is never alienated from her intellectual

bodies as commodities and not trusting their intellectual abilities. Petra may use her body to get what

It was said that Ruth is overweight and showed little success in dieting. This could be a tell tale sign
that she may have lower metabolic activity. This, coupled with a reduction in the volume of gray
matter in her prefrontal cortex may result in her having serious depression (Saveanu Nemeroff, 2012).
One of the psychological factor could be the loss of a loved one. Ruth has suffered the death of her
husband of 20 years and this may trigger her depression as it reduces her positive reinforces in Ruth s
life (Hammen, 2005) (as in Kearney Trull, 2012). Her positive reinforces are further reduced because
her children are growing up and beginning to have their own life.
A social factor could again due to her childhood experiences. Her family showed little affection, her
mother is inconsistent in her behaviour and Ruth had to take on a parental role of taking care of her
siblings. This may lead to disorganised attachment in her childhood which contributes to the
vulnerability to depression (Dobson Dozois,

Analysis Of Ishmael s
This novel was a very enlightening, firsthand account of the atrocities of civil war that not only affect
many countries and their citizens, but especially children. Ishmael Beah was separated from his family
at age 12 because he and his brother were away from their home in the small country of West Africa
known as Sierra Leone, performing in a rap group with friends, when their home village was attacked.
Ishmael, his brother and their friends wandered from village to village in search of food and shelter
among the confusion, violence, and uncertainty of the war. Ishmael s recounting of his experiences is
emotionally disheartening and hard for someone like me to truly fathom, but yet I do know that these
atrocities exist in our modern world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Case Study Of Mice In Saginaw
We performed a full service mice removal in Saginaw recently. This time of year mice can become a
real problem. They are looking to move inside and stay warm and will be attracted to any home that
they can get into especially if the home has a food source they can exploit. The mice in this situation
had gained access through an attached garage. There were 2 entry points that we found there. They
used these to gain access to the basement and had stored a multitude of acorns in a few different spots
under the stairs. The homeowners did not find evidence of these mice until they had spread out and
were leaving droppings in their kitchen drawers and pantry. We were able to seal the entry points that
were being used by the mice and remove all the

Essay on Chivalry
Chivalry
Chivalry, as defined by Encyclopedia Americana is a system of values and ideals of conduct held by
knights in medieval Europe. In its institutional form, chivalry was an informal, international order to
which many, but not all, of the ruling class (nobility) belonged. The word is derived from the Latin
caballus (horse) through the French chevalier ( horseman or knight). Chivalry was born from
Feudalism in the late middle ages introducing a new, feminine point of view stressing virtue and
ethics. It was a time of renewal and need. There were new towns and cities of trade everywhere, thus
creating the need to travel. However, in order to travel there must be someone left behind to tend to
the work that must be done. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most influential women of medieval times was Eleanor of Aquitane. She greatly
contributed to the growth of Chivalry and Courtly Love. She was married several times, first to King
Louis VII of France and then to King Henry II of England. Her travels allowed her to be influential to
both countries. Even before her marriages she owned great amounts of land, making her very
powerful. This was a rarity for a woman in her time and she was not afraid to use her power to gain
advantage. She at one time accompanied her first husband, Louis VII, on his second Crusade contrary
to what the church (ruling government at the time) said. Poets received encouragement from Eleanor
to write poems and sonnets from a womans point of view, this was also unheard of before the late
Middle Ages. During her marriages, there were rumors of affairs had by the Great Queen . Along with
her plans to lead her sons in a rebellion against their father, these rumors were enough to cause Henry
II to lock Eleanor away as a punishment until the time of his death. During the reign of her son King
Richard, Eleanor started the Courts of Love which contributed to giving women a higher standing in
society. The Courts of Love were a gathering of enthusiastic young women who debated and ridiculed
the ideals of love presented to them by poets and knights of the court.

Research Paper On Isaac Newton Space Flight
Isaac Newton Space Flight The Laws of Motion and universal gravity proposed by Sir Newton led to
the development of space flight. Each law has a separate connection that when pieced together can
send you into the air.
The first law states that an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless an external force is applied
(cesplo.phys.utk.edu). Now this applies to space craft when a rocket sits until being lifted up once the
throttle of the engine is released (NASA). This is also because of aerodynamics, developed George
Cayley. Aerodynamics is the pressure when the force is applied to get up off the ground, perpendicular
to the surface (NASA). The second law says force equals mass times acceleration, as well

The Influence Of Copyright On Popular Culture
As of the early twenty first century, capitalism has been the dominant economic system in most parts
of the world and has had a huge influence on the production of popular culture. Geared towards the
generation of profit, a capitalistic economy ensures that individuals and corporations possess the
power of creating and distributing wealth, as opposed to the public or the state. In order to maximize
profit, as is the main goal for individuals in capitalism, copyright appears to have become one of many
tools used by corporations most directly involved in the culture industry.
Though copyright may have been originally developed with the thought that it would increase
indigenous culture production, it is not feasible for artists to create work ... Show more content on

With competitors such as DreamWorks, and Pixar, Disney Incorporated uses a vividly apparent

The segment in question in occurs about midway through the movie when Simba, the hero, plops
down and a cloud of dust rises above him. As the dust begins to trail off, it forms the letters S E X,
with each letter fading as the next becomes clear (Mikkelson, 1996). In this next part, Simba is talking
to his father in the night sky where stars can be seen. Upon connecting these stars, a penis is formed
(Mikkelson, 1996). These messages can be identified as indirect hidden messages, which mean the
viewer was not directly intended to see the message, unless possibly looking for such material. The
hidden sexual messages are examples of how the creators of these movies know that sex in movies
boosts the sales. This is a terrible thing for movie executives to do, especially Disney, where the
majority of the audience is young children who do not need to see these disturbing gestures. The anti
abortion group, based in Stafford, Va., wants the Walt Disney Co. to remove The Lion King from
video stores (Giroux, 2000). One video store clerk was alerted of the appearance of the word, by a
woman who said her 4 year old son noticed it (Mikkelson, 1996). Michael Rhoades, who commented
for Disney stated the scene simply shows ``swirling dust in the night sky, seeing anything in The Lion
King other than a good wholesome family film is purely perception, he said (Studio History, 1998 ).

She reiterates the fact quite a bit through the duration of the story. The Misfit compares himself to
Jesus. As The Misfit previously stated in the story, when he was growing up he was the type of child
who had to know everything and exactly how it functioned and worked. He says that because he can
not know whether Jesus did what people claim for him has made him (the Misfit) like he is. The desire
of the Misfit to know everything and his inability to confirm or deny Jesus story has created an
intractable dilemma that consumes him (Woodiwis).
In the religious drama within the story, the Misfit acts as both Christ and anti Christ figure. He
compares himself to Christ, saying, It was the same case with Him as me, except He hadn t committed
any crime and they could prove I had committed one because they had the papers on me ( ). Even
though the Misfit cannot dedicate himself to either path, he recognizes that there are really only two
alternatives in life: belief and disbelief. Inattention and indifference to faith, the position held by most
of the characters in A Good Man Is Hard to Find and many in O Connor s other stories, are
unacceptable and ultimately untenable responses. There can be no question, however, of O Connor s
intent. The Misfit and his gun create a moment of redemption for the grandmother, albeit against her

Yeats on Change and Stability, and How They...
The world is a place that is ever changing, yet somehow it always stays the same. There is a saying,
the more things change, the more they stay the same. Another goes like this: history has a way of
repeating itself. So does that mean that people can t learn from the mistakes of the past? Certainly not.
There are brilliant minds in this world that can visualize in what ways events have gone wrong in
history. They are able to learn the faults and strengths of other, older civilizations, and build on those.
Unfortunately, these minds are few and far between, and the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves.
There comes a time in every country/civilization s existence that a bad leader takes the reins and
things go south in a hurry. This is when declension of state is put into effect, as Plato would have it.
This rise and fall of civilization is something William Butler Yeats was very familiar with. His love of
history and the sciences were combined with a philosophy all his own. His philosophy was that in all
of the fields of history, art, personality, and society, there are conflicting forces at work: change and
stability. In each society, these two forces are at work, and that can sometimes make things chaotic in
the lives of the people in the society. These forces don t even have to be a part of society; stability and
change can be a part of everyday life. Five poems of Yeats that portray the change in the world, and
the stability too, are When You Are Old, The Lake Isle

development. With the increase of their construction, assessments of roadside edge effects must be
made to guarantee the protection of fauna. Species richness is heavily dependent on habitat
availability and structure. Factors such as soil composition and quality, and availability of resources
are fundamental to the existence of fauna. The study conducted had an objective of evaluating the
impact of roads on fauna, whether negative or positive. Through ... Show more content on

Patterns such as these reinforce the idea that anthropogenic disturbances have a strong influence on
surrounding environment and its inhabitants. The variety of responses from different species highlight
the theory that some populations may be in more danger than others. There is a strong correlation
between locations further into the forest and greater specie figures which may be attributed to due to
bareness of vegetation and resources closer to the roadside. The removal of trees that is required in
road construction is a destructive implication and this extent of this damage is supported by trends
such as the absence of arboreal animals at the

Role Of Witches In Macbeth
The Wicked Witches of Scotland
Throughout history, people have often fought over power and used it to dominate others. There are
many forms of power such as physical strength, knowledge, wealth, possessions, and fear. These are
simple, mundane powers that people can wield. However, in many religions and some superstitions,
people believe in beings who possess supernatural powers. In William Shakespeare s Macbeth there
are such beings, more specifically witches, who have many paranormal capabilities, including casting
curses and predicting the future. Shakespeare incorporates these characters into his play to emphasize
the inherent fear of these supernatural forces. Different cultures have varying types of witches, the
ones depicted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(3.5. 26 33).
As depicted in this quote, witches do not always have a rational reason for bringing calamity upon
someone by deceiving them. They plan on giving Macbeth a false sense of security, so that he will be
overconfident, which will be the cause of his downfall. Both of these examples demonstrate that The
Three Weird Sisters are corrupted by their powers because they deceive Macbeth and interfere with his
fate. They do this solely for their own entertainment and to cause evil in the world. Secondly, The
Witches are malicious beings who find joy and amusement in the pain of others. Witches are often
depicted as repulsive old women who are feared because they cast spells and curses upon people who
have displeased them. This malevolent nature is demonstrated by The Witches in Macbeth in Act 1,
Scene 3 when they bewitch a sailor to wreak vengeance on his wife who refuses to give one of The
Witches some of her chestnuts. The second time The Three Weird Sisters meet, the First Witch
informs her companions of the spiteful things she will do to the sailor when she says: I ll drain him
dry as hay: Sleep shall neither night nor day Hang upon his pent house lide; He shall live a man
forbid: Weary se nnights nine times nine Shall dwindle, peak, and pine: Though his

Perceptual Impairments
Introduction: The purpose of the study is to provide more knowledge in understanding the perceptual
impairments with children who have DCD and help change the way in which these children are taken
care of therapeutically. DCD also known as (Developmental coordination disorder) is when children
are characterized by having motor clumsiness. It affects the achievements of children academically
and their daily activities. Children who have DCD have perceptual motor problems, perceptual
impairments , bad posture control and visual spatial deficits. The children often have issues with
handwriting, dressing, and also physical education mostly that of ADLS. The hypothesis within the
study is that poor motor skills within the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Results: In the results of the study there were 3 TD children and 4 DCD children who requested to
have a short break. The TD group of children had shorter reaction times compared to the DCD group
(t= 4.763, p 0.01) There were no significant differences found between the age groups 8 through 11
year olds. For the DCD group there were multiple occurrences that showed the 6 10 year old groups
being significantly less accurate when detecting passive motion compared to the 11 year old age group
(all p 0.001). For angular velocities between the groups Both TD and DCD group, had a decrease
MDT and the angular velocities did increase. One example is that it took 9.75 seconds and 15.31s to
detect the slowest angular velocity (0.15s) for TD and DCD groups but it took an average of 0.73 s
and 1.00s to detect the fastest angular velocity (1.35s). Discussion: This study has showed that the
man MDT of TD children at age of 6 years old showed a huge difference compared to the other TD
age groups. Kinesthetic ability to detect passive motion showed huge improvements for the

How Does Steinbeck Present Curley s Wife In Of Mice And Men
In Of Mice And Men Curley s wife is the most hopeless and misserable character in the story. She has
no future as she is stuck with her former husband (Curley) who hates her leaving his sight, she has no
friends as she is the only woman on the ranch and Curley will not allow her socializ with the men
because he feels that they would steel her, and she has no respect from anyone on the ranch because
why should they; She gets the men in trouble just by looking at them because well lets face it shes
made out to be a whore who is stunningly beautiful, why wouldnt you look; she doesn t even withhold
a name (which isnt even mentioned within the story) She is just known as Curleys wife because she is

Lennie for this circumstance is classed as a bear, giving us a feeling of manliness and brutness. Such
portrayal of bear like activities would be the crusing and smashing of Curley s hand.Curley s small
masculine hands are no match for Lennie s solid, strong, bear like paws thus giving us the result of
Curleys puvled hand. Lennie is an extremely sensitive boy who watches over his best friend and lover,
to add he has an etremely terrible temper. He gets uncannily hyped up just thinking about having a pet
rabbit or puppy, not to mention being aloud to have a one. Yet Lennie is incredibly strong and cannot
comprehend this. He doesnt perceive to be scary or frightening to anyone except for Curley. Curley
despises Lennie, in light of the fact that he couldn t care less for tremendous huge men and really
makes a joke of him because of his mental capacity and simple needs. Such bear like expressions are:
Dragging his feet a little as a bear would drag his paws . Yet this isn t the only creature Lennie is
implied to be, other cases include, being solid as a bull. This reliable constant use of symbolism shows
us Lennie s affection and commitment for creatures he could call his own for example: rabbits, mice,
and puppies. This makes us aware of how animal and to some degree child like Lennie really

The Importance Of Relation To The Common Law Duty Of Care
Introduction:
Job references are crucial as they can be a deciding factor in whether or not a person will get a job.
Therefore, they should reflect a person accurately, and if they do not, it is important to question if the
employer is liable for writing a bad reference. This will be discussed in relation to the common law
duty of care, as well as being linked to the liability of Universities in respect of students.
Discussion:
Firstly, it is important to establish whether the employer owes a duty of care or not. The case of
Caparo v Dickman resulted in a three stage test about duty of care and to address responsibility in
determining where the liability of the financial loss lies. The test ruled The harm caused by the
negligent actions must be reasonably foreseeable; the relationship between the parties to the dispute
must be one of reasonable proximity; and it must be fair, reasonable, and just to impose liability. This
test provides a qualification for establishing duty of care. Linked to this, in the Spring v Guardian
Assurance case it was decided that there was a duty of care owed to the employee. If they duty is
violated, then the liability of the economic losses suffered by the employee are given to the employer.
Lord Woolf believed that it was necessary for the employer to be liable in damages as the law of
defamation does not provide adequate remedy for damages caused as it requires malice not just
negligence.
Another way to indicate duty of care is using the

with the roles non royal women had which consisted of being the mistress of house and if you could

  • 2. Language And Bias In Language Language and Bias In New York City, hundreds of languages have been spoken everyday on the street as a grand representation that we live in a multilingual society. However, within the multilingual society minority language is often deemed as not useful due to the cultural, social and economical advantages that dominant language is able to bring along with it. This explains that why some of second generation immigrants are unable to speak in their heritage language, because they or their parents hold this belief. Also, this kind of attitude can be even found in the classroom. According to Mallinson, Professor of Language, Literacy, and Culture, from University of Maryland and Hudley, Associate Professor of Education, English, and Linguistics from College of William Mary, study suggests that teachers might subconsciously or consciously favor students who talk like them and judge negatively toward students who doesn t. This would discourage that students from different language background to speak, crate linguistic insecurity and ultimately affect their academic performance (2017). Additionally, Minority languages could face challenges related to governmental power. During the Francisco Franco era, the dictator banned the Catalan language from speaking in public. Because the dictator wanted to create a Spanish centralized nation. Prominent Catalan figures were prosecuted; Catalan language in the public education system was suppressed. As a result, ... • 3. Advantages Of Nationalisation In Business For years, nationalisation has been a prohibited subject within British economies and politics. However, Jeremy Corbyn s economic project has been concentrated around nationalisation. One of Corbyn s arguments has been that, national ownership of particular businesses can, promote long term development of the economy, help to acquire a renovating infrastructure and also provide a quality health and social care system. Furthermore, with the use of examples from around the world, Corbyn attempts to illustrate that the state is an ineffective manager, and also indicate the positive contributions of national ownership. Furthermore, in the UK, national state ownership has previously been too centralised, with authority in the hands of a private and commercial elite, which promotes Adam Smith s ideology. This is portrayed when he said, Avarice overrates the difference between poverty and riches: ambition, that between a private and a public station... , demonstrating that entrepreneurs drive economies and that their profits are a reward for their own risk, with this being the Just World theory. In addition, the ideology of Freidrich A. Hayek is also supported by this, and is illustrated when he said, The more the state plans the more difficult planning is for the individual , indicating that the state is exploiting and alienating the population of the UK. Therefore, to improve national ownership in the UK, measures have to be taken in order to increase the democratic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mexico s Independence From Spain Becoming A Young... On 1821 Mexico won its independence from Spain becoming a young independent country. Mexico was faced with many challenges after the wars for independence. The economy had been ravaged. Many had died. The social dislocation caused by the wars and all its residual wounds had still to be healed. And in this chaotic environment the Mexican tried to forge a nation out of growing economic, social, and political, instability. An independent Mexican congress was also formed made up of conservative criollos who debate the future course of Mexico. Mexico was organized as a federal republic composed of 19 states and 4 territories. After its independence, Mexico had a vast territory and not enough citizens to occupy the land. Mexican government afraid to losing the un occupy land, encourage immigration from the united states to become Mexican citizen and reside on the Mexican territory called Texas. True the years, the Anglo immigrant population in taxes grow so fast that when the Mexican government try to obtain control over it was too late. According to Acuna, By 1844 war with Mexico over Texas and the Southwest was only a matter of time. James K. Polk, who strongly advocated the annexation of Texas and expansionism in general, won the presidency by only a small margin, but his election was interpreted as a mandate for national expansion Europeans are guilty of imperialism because in the 1830s and 1840s they took advantage of the young, independent, and unstable government of ... • 5. Irrigation Medicine Case Study The effects of different irrigation treatments and CO2 concentrations on the stomatal conductance (gs) and transpiration rate (Tr), of maize are shown in Fig. 4a, b, c, d. The figure shows that gs and Tr decreased with the enrichment of CO2 concentrations under both RI and DI. Compared with RI400, gs and Tr were 27 and 23% lower under DI400; for the elevated CO2 concentrations, gs and Tr were 22 36 and 25 26% lower under DI when compared with RI. Relative reductions in gs and Tr due to the DI treatment were therefore more pronounced along with elevated CO2 concentrations. Compared with RI400, RI550 RI700 RI900 decreased gs by 13, 22, and 33%, and Tr by 12, 23, and 38%, respectively. Compared with DI400, DI550 DI700 DI900 decreased gs by 8, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While compared with DI400, DI550 DI700 DI900 increased Tleaf by 2.4, 4.0, and 5.7%, respectively. Hence the relatively increase in Tleaf caused by elevated CO2 concentrations was higher under DI than under RI. Leaf temperature was highly correlated with Tr under most conditions (Pallas et al., 1967). And it was obvious to see that the higher Tr was shown in the markedly lower Tleaf, and vice versa, namely the so called transpiration cooling effect (Pallas et al., 1967). So when the elevated CO2 concentration reduced Tr, the Tleaf increased. Also with decrease in soil water in DI condition, Tr was decreasing; meanwhile, Tleaf rose more remarkable than that only under elevated CO2 conditions. As that Tr cannot be ignored in the changes of Tleaf (Cook et al., 1964; Gates, 1964), and Tr changes was more pronounced under DI, so as to the changes of Tleaf. Figure 4 e and f show the effect of different irrigation treatments and CO2 concentrations on net photosynthetic rate (Pn). Net photosynthetic rate increased with the enrichment of CO2 concentration. Compared with RI400, Pn was 24% lower under DI400; for the elevated CO2 concentrations, Pn was 15 20% lower under DI when compared with RI. Relative reductions in Pn due to the DI treatment was therefore weakened along with elevated CO2 concentrations. • 6. Teen Pregnancy And Its Effect On Children My mother always said You are a princess and your body is a temple, so treat it like one . As I grew up, that was the phrase that made a profound impact on my childhood. My parents felt that for me to be confident and successful, I would have to be at peace emotionally and physically during the most crucial years of my growth. They always said Do not become another one of the statistics! . In my early teenage years I believed that they kept me sheltered, but now in my freshmen year of college, I could not be more thankful for their guidance and protection. At the time I did not understand what she meant, but after my years in high school it all made sense. I, like many other teens, would gain knowledge on relationships and sexuality. In this country teen pregnancy has high increase in minorities, one of the main reasons why the population is expanding. It is through proper knowledge of sexuality and protection that female teens are able to prevent pregnancy. Coming from a family of immigrants, I have many life goals. I always enjoyed school and participated in extracurricular activities. My parents emphasized that keeping myself healthy and well rounded would grant me virtue and confidence. • 7. Darwin s Theory Of Biological Evolution Evolution refers to the processes that have transformed life on Earth from its earliest forms to the vast diversity that characterizes it today (Campbell, 1993). However, a lot of things can change over a period of time. The Father of Evolution who is known as Charles Darwin, developed the theory of biological evolution. This theory has long been debated during and after darwin s time. Biological evolution can be seen through a momentous change in organisms by changing of the genetic composition. Darwin s theory did not only create a topic of controversy, but it was able to create a way of understanding life through biological evolution. The traditional Judeo Christian version of Creationism was strongly reinforced by James ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It had a beginning, but it has no ending. Creation is always busy making new scenes, new things and new Worlds (Weiner 3). In the bible it states that all living things were created at the hands of God. No one has ever desired to challenge the Catholic Church of this belief. Until a man by the name of Charles Darwin discovered the wonders on Daphne Major. After his survey of the island, he concluded that there was something about the finches beaks that made them unique to each of the islands. Making meticulous observations of the beaks he saw that each finch had a specific set of beaks. This allowed them to adapt to a specific niche in their environment. What is more. the tame little birds that Darwin had found hopping around beneath the bushes were unique too. They were not relatives of blackbirds, walders, wrens, and finches, as Darwin had thought when he bagged them (Weiner 28). Darwin speculated about how natural selection is one of the main concepts for biological evolution. Natural selection consisted of descent with modification, known as a gradual process over time, heritable biological traits become either more or less common in a population. When the next generation of that species gains that dominant trait in the population, this is known as descent with modification. Observing descent with modification is still prominent during that time period. According to the Variation Lab, natural selection was the driving mechanism for biological evolution. ... • 11. Diet Coke Twisted Mango Commercial I thought that the Diet Coke Twisted Mango commercial was very poorly done. The commercial featured actress Hayley Magnus, who takes a sip of Diet Coke and starts dancing uncontrollably. Overall, I thought that the commercial was very annoying and ineffective. The main reason that I felt the commercial was bad was because the dancing was very distracting. The poor dancing drew my attention away from the product itself. As I watched the poor dancing I was cringing. The dancing was so bad that my assumptions carried over to what Diet Coke Twisted Mango will likely taste like (very poor). In addition to the poor choreography, it seemed like Diet Coke put very minimal time and effort into the making of the commercial. And after researching ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Socioeconomic Mobility And Social Mobility In the United States, there is a imaginary finish line wanting to be met by its people. Living like the privileged strives people towards working harder to meet that goal, but the amount of hard work being invested into the bigger picture does not really mean you will make it. It is shown that a low percentage of the average hard working person meets the one percent that owns more than half the money circulated within the U.S (Beeghley 2008). Social mobility, where it all begins is taken into account from the day a person is born based on the social class their parent or parents are under or above on the ladder. According to the text there are five factors in social mobility those are intergenerational, upward and downward social mobility, structural and exchange mobility. In chapter eight point four a women by the name of Janice was expressed in the text as a women who joined the intergenerational group who made it to an upward social mobility due to her college experience and degrees earned meeting the change in social class from one generation to the next on the account of her single mother who worked under a toyota dealership (lopoo and DeLeire 2012). Significantly, this may occur as connections between texts are explored. Tired of meaningless imitation and decoration, the avant garde artists pushed for drastic revolutions in aesthetic and social taste. This experimentation rapidly grew less and less controlled, and new technique and new style, which shocked and enraged the critics and public, stopped being experimental and started desiring the side effects of shock and disgust. Later movements like Dada, Surrealism, and art post World War II, would more clearly demonstrate the extreme separation the term avant garde implies. It is important to reflect on the detachment of art from its former religious manifestations, where the painting was a moving piece of symbolic meaning (Barzun 32). According to Jacques Barzun, a painting connected with the viewer because it reflected some manner of spiritual recognition; it was the attachment to God or spiritual symbolism that satisfied the patron and provoked emotion, not the piece of art itself. The Renaissance glorification of man, the scattering and weakening of the creeds of Protestant Reformation, and the general unbelief caused by the progress of science caused art to become an idea into itself (Barzun 33). These modern issues Barzun blames for the rise of art as a religion, with the avant garde artists acting as seer, and prophet bearing revelation (33). As Barzun stated, progress in science and technology became gradually more and more important as both were seemingly helping humankind advance itself (Arnason 46). Artists, no ... After studying art and many journeys, he had trouble getting famous and put on the art world map. But finally, in 1933, a first installation is dedicated to him at the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York. His works are mainly inspired by his journeys, trips to different places and the solitude of the American in the twentieth century. Nighthawks is his most famous piece of art (Laura Herail, blog). After researching and looking at many of his paintings, this artwork portrays sadness and yet it is not a sad picture. It could be something enticing and yet charming about anonymous diners. The lack of domesticity offering a relief what can be the full comfort of home. It may be easier to give away to sadness here than in a cozy living room with wallpaper and framed pictures. Home often appears to have betrayed Hopper s characters, something has happened there that forces them out into the night and on to the road. The 24 hour diner is a sanctuary for those who for some reason or another have failed to find there place in the normal world of relationships or community. While most Raccoons weigh between 12 and 22 pounds, raccoons can grow as large as 60 pounds as has been reported in some areas such as Washington, Maine, and Minnesota. Additionally, their weights are dependent on their genetics, age, availability of food, and habitat location. Furthermore, because their hind legs are longer than the front legs, raccoons tend to have hunched appearance when they walk or run. According to nature magazine raccoons are very tactile animals, the five toes on their front paws are extremely dexterous, essentially functioning as five little fingers which allow it to grasp and then manipulate food and a variety of other objects; hence, it is not surprising to see a raccoon picking up grapes and berries very much like a human would. They are known for their exceptional hearing and night vision; the excellent hearing and night vision are both very useful for locating small prey such as beetles, grasshoppers, and crickets. According to the article titled, Life and habitat of Raccoon (n.d), Raccoons are also outstanding climbers and are one of the very few animals that can descend a tree head first a feat accomplished by turning their paws 180 degrees . • 29. Research Paper On Isaac Newton Space Flight Isaac Newton Space Flight The Laws of Motion and universal gravity proposed by Sir Newton led to the development of space flight. Each law has a separate connection that when pieced together can send you into the air. The first law states that an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless an external force is applied (cesplo.phys.utk.edu). Now this applies to space craft when a rocket sits until being lifted up once the throttle of the engine is released (NASA). This is also because of aerodynamics, developed George Cayley. Aerodynamics is the pressure when the force is applied to get up off the ground, perpendicular to the surface (NASA). The second law says force equals mass times acceleration, as well ... The Influence Of Copyright On Popular Culture As of the early twenty first century, capitalism has been the dominant economic system in most parts of the world and has had a huge influence on the production of popular culture. Geared towards the generation of profit, a capitalistic economy ensures that individuals and corporations possess the power of creating and distributing wealth, as opposed to the public or the state. In order to maximize profit, as is the main goal for individuals in capitalism, copyright appears to have become one of many tools used by corporations most directly involved in the culture industry. • 38. Yeats on Change and Stability, and How They... The world is a place that is ever changing, yet somehow it always stays the same. There is a saying, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Another goes like this: history has a way of repeating itself. So does that mean that people can t learn from the mistakes of the past? Certainly not. There are brilliant minds in this world that can visualize in what ways events have gone wrong in history. They are able to learn the faults and strengths of other, older civilizations, and build on those. Unfortunately, these minds are few and far between, and the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves. There comes a time in every country/civilization s existence that a bad leader takes the reins and things go south in a hurry. This is when declension of state is put into effect, as Plato would have it. This rise and fall of civilization is something William Butler Yeats was very familiar with. His love of history and the sciences were combined with a philosophy all his own. His philosophy was that in all of the fields of history, art, personality, and society, there are conflicting forces at work: change and stability. In each society, these two forces are at work, and that can sometimes make things chaotic in the lives of the people in the society. These forces don t even have to be a part of society; stability and change can be a part of everyday life. • 44. The Importance Of Relation To The Common Law Duty Of Care Introduction: Job references are crucial as they can be a deciding factor in whether or not a person will get a job. Therefore, they should reflect a person accurately, and if they do not, it is important to question if the employer is liable for writing a bad reference. This will be discussed in relation to the common law duty of care, as well as being linked to the liability of Universities in respect of students. Discussion: Firstly, it is important to establish whether the employer owes a duty of care or not. The case of Caparo v Dickman resulted in a three stage test about duty of care and to address responsibility in determining where the liability of the financial loss lies. The test ruled The harm caused by the negligent actions must be reasonably foreseeable; the relationship between the parties to the dispute must be one of reasonable proximity; and it must be fair, reasonable, and just to impose liability. This test provides a qualification for establishing duty of care. Linked to this, in the Spring v Guardian Assurance case it was decided that there was a duty of care owed to the employee. If they duty is violated, then the liability of the economic losses suffered by the employee are given to the employer. Lord Woolf believed that it was necessary for the employer to be liable in damages as the law of defamation does not provide adequate remedy for damages caused as it requires malice not just negligence.
