The Hippocampal System
Cholecystokinin from entorhinal cortex enables neural plasticity in auditory cortex Background:
Patients with defect to medial temporal lobe depict deficits in making new declarative memories but
are still able to recall older memories, suggestion is that medial temporal lobe is necessary for
converting memories in neocortex. Introduction: The hippocampal system composed of hippocampus
and adjoining entorhinal, perirhinal, and parahippocampal cortices [1]. Fuction which they perform is
as the gateway from hippocampus to a neocortex, the entorhinal and perirhinal cortices form powerful
complementary connections with neocortex [2 4]. Experimental approach: Animals: Sprague Dawley

Fall of the Qing Dynasty
The fall of the Qing dynasty was caused by internal changes within the dynasty, peasant revolts, the
rise of Sun Yat Sen and overall western influence.
What happens when there is a trade imbalance between two major trading countries? Just ask Great
Britain and China. It s hard to get by when the country you need goods from does not really need to
trade goods with you. This is what happened with Great Britain and the Qing Dynasty. There was a
high demand for China s tea in Great Britain but a low demand for Britain s goods in China. Great
Britain was in debt with China and they had to do something to get out. As a result, they turned to
selling silver to make the imbalance better. China could care less about Great Britain s silver so Great

Democracy meant rule by parliament and constitution, and the People s Livelihood made it so that the
land and other resources should benefit the people and not fatten the ruling classes (McLenighan 34).
Things were looking good for Sun Yat Sen when Empress Dowager Ci Xi died. The next and last
emperor of China would be the 3 year old Henry Pu Yi. Sun Yat Sen and company took advantage of
this very quickly. In early 1912, the Qing regents signed a document giving up the throne in Pu Yi s
name, leaving Sun Yat Sen as president of a Republican. That was the end of the Qing Dynasty.
Unfortunately for Sun Yat Sen he was only President for four years because the people of China weren
t agreeing with all of his views. He was replaced by Yuan Shikai. After Yuan Shikai s death China
began to fall apart so Sun Yat Sen never lived to see his ideas of The Three People s Principles
become a reality. He died of cancer in 1925. The last 100 years of China was nothing but problems.
Rebellion, wars and civil wars, pressure from foreigners, and foreign immigrants spreading their ideas
and cultures throughout China. China let the foreigners get by with too much and the foreigners took
advantage of China s weaknesses. The dynasty got weaker and weaker as timed progressed but China
did not go down without a fight.

Abolishment In Frankenstein
Despite how extravagantly different the creation scene is in Shelley s novel compared to what is
presented on screen, there is little to say on the subject. As already mentioned in the introduction, the
tradition of exuberant, showy creation scenes didn t begin with the original textit{Frankenstein}
(1931), but with the 1910 edition, where it lends half of its runtime to the conjuration of the monster.
Each iteration of Frankenstein thereafter copies this extravagant method of portraying the creation
scene, and as they do so, knowledge of Shelley s minimal description is lost. First, we must explore
why her version of events isn t inclusive of the embellishment and indulgence on screen.

In Shelley s text, the scene consists of a few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet he acknowledges that this moment is not one to celebrate, and thus compensates for this using
other methods, turning the showy scene from a contradiction to a juxtaposition that emphasises the
monstrosity of not only the monster, but Victor s actions in creating it: First, the monster lunges from a
great copper sarcophagus filled with water to make it a kind of womb. After he lands sprawling in the
spill tank under it, Victor lifts him up, vainly tries to show him how to walk, then ties him standing to
a set of chains. But when the struggling creature is struck by a falling piece of wood and shortly goes
limp, Victor concludes that he himself has killed this luckless heir to massive birth defects. and that
this evil must be destroyed...forever. footcite{James Heffernan, Looking at the Monster: Frankenstein
and Film pp.143} This departure from the novel highlights Victor as a more paternal figure than the
text implies, making a point of the undercurrent of dread the scene should evoke, yet contrivedly
conveying Victor s repulsion at the creature in this scene, Victor is less repulsed by the creature, as
Shelley s text strongly emphasises, but more toward his own actions. It is only when Victor wakes up
to the sight of the lumbering creature in the next scene does he cry out No! . This decision creates a
confusing tone where it could initially be misconstrued by the audience that Branagh s Victor is
merely startled by the presence of a monster he had presumed dead, muddling up the message of
Victor s regret and of the repercussions of rebirth that Shelley intends on

The World Trade Organization and Intellectual Property Rights
I. INTRODUCTION
One of the most controversial provisions of the World Trade Organization s (WTO) Agreement on
Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) patent regime is the compulsory
product patent protection for pharmaceutical inventions. In order to comply with the TRIPS
obligation, India introduced product patent protection from 1 January 2005. In doing so, India in a
way reinstated the patent regime, which is believed to favour the pharmaceutical Multinational
Corporations (MNCs). While carrying out the amendment, Indian policy makers were confronted with
two major concerns, viz. the future of the Indian pharmaceutical industry and access to affordable
medicines within the country and other developing countries. Thus the major concern was how the
adoption of intellectual property regimes would affect their efforts to improve public health, and
economic and technological development more generally, particularly if the effect of introducing
patent protection was to increase the price and decrease the choice of sources of pharmaceuticals . To
make use of the flexibilities available within and outside of TRIPS turned out to be the most pragmatic
solution available for developing countries, including India, to address the concerns on the availability
and accessibility of medicines. According to this approach, TRIPS provides only minimum standards
of protection and does not set the universal common standard for the

Stanislavski s Love For Puppet Theater
Konstantin Sergeyevich Alekseyev (with the stage name Stanislavski ) was born in the large capital
city of Moscow, Russia, in 1863 the year of the January Uprising in the former Polish Lithuanian
Commonwealth against the Russian Empire, which had a significant impact on the economic, political
and social situation in Russia. The following years proved to be a time of crisis for Russia, as the
economy developed extremely slowly compared to the other major nations in Europe. The population
in Russia increased dramatically during this time period, and most people suffered from frightful
economic conditions (including living and working conditions.) Luckily, born to one of the wealthiest
families in Russia during this time period, Stanislavski developed a love for puppet theatre, ballet and
opera, and began to follow in his family s creative footsteps at 14 years old, influenced by his
grandmother (a French actress) and his father (who built a theatre on their property.) He performed
with many acting groups throughout his youth, growing, developing and learning as an actor, and
attended a drama school in hopes of pursuing his dreams. However, he dropped out after only a few
weeks of instruction. He did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To truly come to life on stage, he believed the actors had to express true human emotion, and to
achieve this he encouraged them to bring their own life experiences and feelings into the theatre. In
addition to emotion memory, Stanislavski understood that although achieving authentic human
emotion was important, the actors had to remember that they were still playing characters on the stage
not themselves. He therefore created exercises that allowed actors to explore the motivations of their

Understanding Lord Byron The Romantic Period

Understanding Lord Byron
The Romantic Period was a time where life changed for so many. At the time, nations were
experiencing the results of the Industrial Revolution. England was the first nation in the world to
experience the effects of the Industrial Revolution (Henry 527). Instead of products being made by
hand, they were being made now by machines. Homes of people were being used for industries. The
people most affected were those of the lower class. No one cared about them. People were ignoring
the changes in the world. Romantics wanted to show the world that these changes were negative
changes. The writers during the Romantic Period wanted to bring real life feelings ... Show more

It changed the way of living, which changed the way of thinking. Imagination was seen as one of the
key features to describe one s perspective of the world. Henry explains that the human imagination is
some kind of desire a motive that drives the mind to discover things that it cannot learn by rational or
logical thinking (532). Logical thinking could not explain the importance in change, so something else
had to be used. Imagination drives a person s mind into deeper thought than does reason. He explains
how life on earth dies off. All earth was but one thought and that was death (Byron 42). Writing about
an apocalyptic world, brings out the curiosity of people; therefore, people use imagination to put
themselves in this situation to be able to understand. William quotes, I see everything I paint in this
world, but everybody does not see alike (532). Everyone has a different perspective. It is hard to be
able to explain the writer s writing without imagination and creativity. Readers don t use reason to
understand the poet s intention. Using reason, just describes only one point of view. Henry states,
Romanticism turned away from the eighteenth century emphasis on reason and artifice. Instead, the
Romantics embraced imagination and naturalness (529). During the period, they believed that
imagination, rather than mere reason, was the best response to the forces of change (Henry 529).

Are you the one who wants to join in the bandwagon and cultivate your own patch of mushrooms?
There is no surprise to that. Mushroom cultivation has been like the mushrooms themselves. People
who are interested in this kind of business have been popping out. Perhaps one of the reasons why this
has garnered so much interest is the availability of the supplies needed so that one can cultivate edible
mushrooms.
Not only that, the way to cultivate edible mushrooms is easy breezy. In fact, the technique in planting
the spores has not changed for quite some time. Ever wonder why this is so? The answer is as simple
as the nose on your face the technique is simple, effective and very straightforward. If the technique,
though old can be quite effective, why revise it in the first place, right?
When cultivating these mushrooms, you have to know some information about mushrooms. Well, for
starters, it grows in damp and dark places. Even the location is simple. An area in your basement can
be used to cultivate your first batch of mushrooms. You really

The Appalachian Trail, also known as the Footpath for the People is approximately 2,200 miles long.
The trail has two different starting points, the northern terminus beginning at Mt. Katahdin in Central

During the backpacking boom of the 1970s when there was a growing understanding about the natural
environment beginning to be consumed at what had appeared to be an alarming rate, many groups of
people began to take on the trail for long periods of time. (Cosmo) Trails that were previously only
visited by few people because very well known locations. During this time, there was very little
maintainance of the trails and even less education of visitors. People were hiking merely to take a
break from the world around them. What was once an experience where solitude was virtually
guaranteed, became more and more a social event as more and more of us tried to. (Cosmo) After
some time, many hikers and trail managers grew concerned about the future of the trail and began
trying to accommodate the growing number of hikers, while also protecting the Trails natural
environment. After starting to upgrade popular campsites and trails to make them more durable, most
hikers began to gain knowledge about how to take care of the trails while enjoying them. Since the
1980 s the AT has been managed so that Hiker regulations will be kept as unrestrictive as possible, and
should be developed only to the extent they are proven necessary to protect the physical trail, its
environment, and the interests of adjacent landowners. (from the Appalachian Trail Comprehensive

Noahic Covenant Research Paper
Throughout the Old Testament God has been actively directing people to him. His method of doing
this was by establishing covenants with him. The definition of covenant is, a formal and serious
agreement or promise (Merriam Webster). There are seven convents described in the Old Testament:
Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Palestinian, Mosaic, Davidic and New Covenant. Some of these
covenants are conditional and based on prerequisites and can be broken if the requirements are not
met. The rest are unconditional covenants, they were made with no strings attached, meaning the
agreement would be kept no matter what. The purpose of this paper is to examine each of these
covenants and their results. The first covenant described in the Old Testament ... Show more content

Multicultural Community
Communities all over the world vary in terms of diversity. Community in one area could be fully
diverse and multicultural whereas, another community could lack diversity. One area could consist of
multiple ethnicities and their languages. Another area could lack various ethnicities and multiple
languages that they bring. There are many elements that make a community diverse and multicultural.
A multicultural community that is composed of different ethnicities and languages creates a diverse
and an open minded, solid community. The community I lived in Nepal was non diverse compared to
Montgomery County, which consists of multiple ethnicities with linguistic diversity. The community I
spent about nine years in Nepal lacked ethnic diversity. Although Nepal s society as a whole is
ethnically diverse, Nepal is complex due to the caste system that is still in use in modern day. The
community in Nepal that I stayed in was dominated by the Brahmans and Chhetris, who were
members of the highest caste in the Caste system. On the other hand, multiple ethnicities also exist in
Montgomery County as well. Montgomery County is one of the most diverse counties that offers
multi ethnics such as Whites, Blacks, African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, etc. Various ethnicities
make Montgomery County culturally diverse, with the cultures different ethnic individuals bring to
the community. In Nepal, the majority of the spoke the language Nepali. There were also no practices

Zinn Chapter 10
Chapter 10 of Zinn discusses the struggle between class systems that was going on when the North
and the South conflicted in the United States. During the nineteenth century, there was a competition
between class systems that resulted in strikes, killings, and the formation of unions. While reading the
chapter, one thing that surprised me was The Contract Labor Law. This law gave business bring in
foreign workers that provided a source of cheap labor and workers to fill in the spots that strikers left
(Zinn, 165). This law rewards business while punishing its workers. It s saying that industries value
money and power more than the well being of their workers, which isn t right. It amazed me that
lawmaker s valued business more than people s safety. There were no laws that protected worker s or
their health and safety. No wonder they fought and established strikes. Workers weren t protected at all

Rich multimillionaires paid to escape military service by paying for substitutes to take their place. Not
everyone had that luxury so it s seems unfair that people could have just done that. Money can t solve
all problems. In addition, the bribing and secret deals that wealthy inventors and business workers

if they crafted laws that favored his business interests and The Central Pacific line spent $200,000 on

you could do whatever, which is unfair. Wealth shouldn t matter and it definitely shouldn t interfere
with politics and law making. Both chapter 10 and 11 taught me new things that I believe should be

Vincent Van Gogh And Salvador Dali
Van Gogh, Starry Night (1889) / Salvador Dali, The Persistence of Memory (1931), are two paintings
that come from a distinct time period. The two movements share a common motivation and reject the
interest of observing the world, the artists instead looked into their memories and emotions in order to
connect with the viewer on a deeper level. Both the Post Impressionist and Surrealist represent reality
as a reflection of the creative potential of the unconscious mind, and inner self.
Post Impressionist artists were influenced by the Impressionism movement, but rejected its limitations
and embarked on their own artistic styles which were more spiritually and emotionally based than
impressionist work. They wanted to portray emotion and intellect as well as the visual imagery.
Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch Post Impressionist artist whose work is known for its vivid colors and

Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Development
Piaget s Theory of Cognitive Development Piaget s theory of cognitive development consists of four
stages, these stages include the sensorimotor stage, the preoperational stage, the concrete operational
stage, and the formal operational stage. When a person transitions from stage to stage they go through
assimilation, accommodation, and equilibrium. The first stage, the sensorimotor stage, takes place
from birth to two years. Piaget divided this stage into six substages. As an infant, I was always hungry.
I was bottle fed, so I had to develop a simple reflexive behavior, such as sucking the nipple of the
bottle. Simple reflexes refer to the first month after a child is born. At around two or three months old
I experienced a primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first substage occurs between the ages of two to four. As a child, I often played with tea sets and
my friends and I would have little tea parties. When the glasses of the tea sets would touch and make a
sound, we would say the glasses were hitting each other. This represents animism, because glasses are
inanimate objects that cannot actually hit each other. The second substage begins at the age of four and
ends at the age of seven. When I was this age, my favorite word was why, I would always ask
questions. I had to know why things happened when they did. For example, when I first saw an
ambulance drive by, I asked why there were sirens going off on the car. Our car obviously didn t have
sirens when we drove, so I wanted to know why that ambulance made noise. This represented intuitive
thought, because I showed interest in reasoning in why the ambulance was different from our car. The
third stage is the concrete operational stage, which lasts from seven to eleven years of age. In this
stage, children begin to reason when the logical reasoning can be applied to concrete examples. An
example of this for me was when I would eat candy with my friends, we all wanted the same amount
so everything would be fair. According to Piaget, if we could decipher the amounts correctly even if
the candy pieces were different shaped, we would be successful at completing concrete

Essay on Jay Gatsby’s Dangerous Illusions in The Great Gatsby
Jay s Dangerous Illusions in The Great Gatsby
America is a land of opportunity and hopes and dreams can become reality. The American Dream
consists of the notion that the struggling poor can achieve financial success through hard work. F.
Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, puts this premise to the test while also warning against the
dangers of believing too passionately in any dream. The central character, Jay Gatsby, proves a tragic
hero who succeeds financially but fails emotionally when he attempts to hold onto something from the

Not a second passes that Gatsby does not obsess about what could have been had things worked out
differently five years before.
Jay Gatsby s current state is one of emptiness and despair because he fails to live in the present by
dwelling too much in the past. Gatsby and Daisy are alike in the fact that both carry well forgotten
dreams from age to age (Fitzgerald 143), but Daisy has moved on with her marriage to Tom, while
Gatsby is left stretching out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way (Fitzgerald 25). Gatsby
finally musters the courage to become reunited with Daisy Buchanan, with the help of his next door
neighbor, Nick Carraway. Nick holds tea at his house and invites the unsuspecting Daisy. For a few
minutes at least, the two connect with passionate intensity, but Nick makes the observation that:
There must have been moments even that afternoon when Daisy tumbled short of his dreams not
through her own fault but because of the colossal vitality of his illusion. It had gone beyond her,
beyond everything. He had thrown himself into it with a creative passion, adding to it all the time,
decking it out with every bright feather that drifted his way. No amount of fire or freshness can
challenge what a man will store up in his ghostly heart (Fitzgerald 101).

The Effects Of Xenophobia In South Africa
Introduction
I have often wondered whether I made the right choice. From time to time I have been met with open
hostility from black South Africans who clearly do not want people from other countries around. I
believe this form of xenophobia to be unique to South Africa. To my knowledge it is not something to
be found elsewhere in Africa.
(Tegegne, 2001: 94)
The deep hatred and dislike of African foreign nationals by some locals emanates largely from the
perception that foreigners are here to take jobs from locals, rendering most of the less educated South
Africans unable to acquire employment (Moatshe, 2014)
Nationalism by a section of eminent South Africans (e.g. King Goodwill Zwelithini on 21 March 2015
(Mwanza, 2015) and Edward, son of president Jacob Zuma on 14 April 2015 (Khoza, 2015)) ... Show

Prior to 1994 the common enemy was apartheid. It was the glue that held together the resistance. A
fatalistic mentally, amongst a large sector of the South African population, was created which still
persists 22 years after democracy.
The tenets of citizenship and the nation have been reconstructed on a narrow, privileged, and
nationalistic basis, with a pernicious atmosphere being created, particularly through immigration
policies and the enforcement of an exclusive South Africa, creating the conditions for xenophobia to
take root. State institutions have been centrally involved in the abuse of foreign migrants, from illegal
arrests, renditions, torture, racial profiling, destruction of immigration documents and general abuse
(Amandla.org.za, 2015)
According to Lucien van der Walt, professor of Sociology at Rhodes University (Mwanza, 2015) the
enemy in post 1994 South Africa, has become the foreign nationals who present as soft targets due to
their much smaller numbers and lack of homogeneity. Most of the xenophobic attacks erupt in poor

Analyzing David Miller´s Opinion on Immigration
Though immigration is not a new phenomenon in the world s history, it has been notice that now days
immigration has increased more than ever. This is mainly caused because of better ways of
communication and transportation, which it makes it possible to people to move and enter other
countries. However there are many types of immigrations such as economical, retirement immigrants
or even natural disasters immigrants. People sometimes seek a new life to save themselves from
poverty and misery, thus they decide to enjoy the benefits of another country. Still there are other
immigrants who are forced to leave their countries because of wars or even natural disasters, such as
the tsunami in Japan 2011. Some philosophers consider closed ... Show more content on

This has as a result those who really need help are still not being helped, the poor class. He argues that
other countries are not to be blamed for each country false to provide a better life to their people and
that government should be changed their system. As Mill and Rousseau argue that freedom is the best
thing that everyone has and everyone has the right to move wherever they want because of their self
development and their freedom of liberty. Therefore with their claim for freedom rights, that means
that borders restrict freedom of movement and everything else that people have moral rights, such as
working, having friends are been restricted. As Kapur and McHale argues about freedom is that
migrants have the right to live and work where ever they wish. The global liberty principle is that
everyone is completely free to move anywhere (Oberman, 2010). However Miller rejects the concept
of freedom of movement and mentions that there is difference between basic freedom , where people
have their basic rights and bare freedom that people do not have the authority to protect. There are
restrictions in many cases, such as people desire to have more things but are unable to buy and also
they cannot enter anywhere they want at anytime for instance the university hours. Also Miller argues
that few people would agree with the argument that

Plagiarism is submitting or presenting another s work or ideas as your own without crediting the
source of the material, whether deliberate or unintentional, such as stealing or copying the material,
language or intellectual property of someone else, incorrectly citing works or improperly summarizing
and paraphrasing words, research, or ideas that belong to other authors. Citing, referencing, and
acknowledging sources can prevent most cases of plagiarizing. An example of inappropriate
approaches to papers, essays and assignments is duplicate submission, or submitting the same work
more than once without prior approval, such as handing in the same essay for two different classes.
Examples of inappropriate behaviour related to examinations and tests are cheating, such as talking or
sharing information during an exam or quiz, or impersonation, which is allowing someone to pretend
to be you in a class, test or examination. Misrepresentation of personal credentials of achievement is

A Century Of Cinema Susan Sontag Summary
In A Century of Cinema , Susan Sontag explains how cinema was cherished by those who enjoyed
what cinema offered. Cinema was unlike anything else, it was entertainment that had the audience
feeling apart of the film. However, as the years went by, the special feeling regarding cinema went
away as those who admired cinema wanted to help expand the experience. Although cinema is now a
priority, some feel as if cinema is no longer the cinema when it was first established. Movies no longer
have that special feeling like viewers once had. Today, films are not only shared within a theater, if
one pleases they could always have the same experience elsewhere. Moreover, with technology

Jack Merridew is nothing short of a devil in disguise. The devilish mask I created represents how
corrupt he became throughout the book. Jack, like the devil, wanted to be in power, and went out of
his way to get it through darker means, which contributed to his downfall in character. His power
hungry nature created a monster which was bred to kill Ralph and his other companions, even if it
weren t by his own hands necessarily. His tribe and followers, like Roger for example, took the lives
of Piggy and Simon, and were willing to go farther to make sure Jack stayed in power. The colors on

The Importance Of Advertisement And Advertising
Advertisement and branding
Advertisement and branding are one of the marketing strategies most companies use to sell their
products to the world. Branding creates an image and a message that is passed to the consumers in
order to appeal to them and also enable them to remember the products. Therefore, advertisement is a
means of ensuring that the brand is conveyed to the consumers directly. Advertising is done through
various channels including social media, televisions, magazines, newspapers and currently, most
organizations prefer doing their advertisements through the internet: most potential consumers are met
online due to this technology era. This paper is a memo, targeting the staff members of a company.
The company is running an advertisement campaign for their new brand and therefore this memo is
entirely based on advertisement and branding, explaining to the staff why they should understand the
importance of this campaign, why advertisement is important in brand development and suggestions
of how the staff can help to develop the organization s brand.
Brand marketing campaigns need proper and adequate research for them to be successful. They should
be well thought out, with much focus and emphasis directed to the brand details and execution, rather
than focusing only on the brand ideas (Balmer et al., 2017). Therefore planning advertisement
campaigns begin by ensuring that the employees understand the brand, the campaign details and their
role in the development of

Benjamin Franklin started political cartooning back in the eighteenth century, people have started

Although there were four New England colonies, Benjamin Franklin gathered into one category to
stress the need for the colonial unity. At the time of the cartoon being made, the colonists firmly
debated making west of the Appalachian Mountains bigger and fighting the French and the Indians,
which were their allies.
As publisher and printer, Benjamin Franklin drafted several cartoons that persuaded colonists to rebel
against England. Join or Die appeared alongside Benjamin Franklin s editorial about the disunited
state of the colonies and that means to unite or to be attacked by French and Indian allies. Ahead of
time, Benjamin Franklin knew that in order to convince the colonists, he first had to convince the
public. Straight forward and powerful images, followed by a clear and expressive prose has the power
to create conversation among the populations. With drawing the cartoon, Benjamin Franklin voiced a
strong opinion in a keen, potent and sophisticated way. The second American cartoonist was not as
famous as Benjamin Franklin was in American history, his name was Paul Revere. Paul Revere was a
silversmith and an engraver who created incendiary cartoons disguised as prints of news events. By
the time of Abraham Lincoln s presidency, more than dozens of cartoons had appeared every year in
magazines, newspapers, penny prints, posters, lithographs and broadsides.

decision making. A process adjustment is required for compliance, risk and misconduct reporting. The
athletic department must be integrated into an oversight and compliance process by the leadership.
The programs involving children require greater management leadership with frequent accountability

officer is to establish a council and select a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) with whom ethics
initiatives are synchronized. The goal of this council is to emphasize and practice transparency at all
levels while communicating openly and frequently with the university around issues. The university

American English Vs. British English
Possible intro in part There no questioning the diversity of language both in the number of languages
and within each language its self. These varieties, brought on by differences in culture, class, region
and ethnics play a vital role to humanity. It is important for language to change and adapt because of
the Identity it provides culturally, regionally, and ethnically, the efficiency it provides in translations
and usage, and the new concepts it must cover. One of the main benefits of changes in a language is
the Identity provided by those changes. For example in history one large change in history established
a crucial identity, that of the American English vs British English. Due to the introduction of new
fauna and physical features, along with required interactions between those of different languages and
dialects including Spanish, German, Irish and Ameridian, the English language began to change (). It
was during the colonies vie for independence that the sense of Identity provided by subtle differences
in the language became important (). Noah Webster, a schoolmaster, acknowledged this when Webster
established the Federal English as he called it. In his reasoning s a new nation needed a new language
(Companion). The change in language helped distinguish America from a mere colony of Britain
while maintaining a connection to its roots.
While in the last case, language provided Identity between the Mother Nation and its child, it can also

Brand Luther, written by Andrew Pettergree, approaches the life of Martin Luther and seeks to explain
how a monk took his small town, turned it into one of the largest publishing centers of Germany, made

book itself is divided into twelve chapters, each going into detail about events leading up to, as well

in Part One, A Single Man, the first chapter and second chapters, A Small Town in Germany and

Germany prior to Luther s influence, the elector of Saxony, Luther s early life and that would lead to
his attack on indulgences, Frederick the Wise s ambition for the town of Wittenberg and the work he

Local Government In Australia
Background of Australian Government In Australia s Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC),
the Commonwealth has responsibility for social security while state governments have primary
responsibility for education (Press Hayes, 2000). Thus, policy and funding matters related to different
forms of ECEC services rest with different tiers of government (Press Hayes, 2000). There is the local
government, which is established and regulated by State and Territory parliaments (Press Hayes,
2000). Australia has about 750 local government councils responsible for town planning, roads, streets
and bridges, waste and sanitation services and community recreation facilities. Many, though not all,
local governments in Australia are involved in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 1940s and 1950s preschools, as they became known, began to emerge in middle class
suburbs and were often managed by local parents. During the 1960s and 1970s, some State
Governments became involved in the provision of preschool services. In both Victoria and New South
Wales preschool provision remained largely in the hands of voluntary agencies (Brennan, 1998).
Although preschool provision and operation were widespread, preschools largely failed to meet the
needs of working mothers. A strong push for the provision of child care services to support working
women developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. A feminist advocacy for women s rights seek in
paid employment and researches on the number of children left without adequate supervision because
of their parents need to work, and the needs of industry for access to women s labour became a
powerful impetus for governments to take child care provision seriously (Press Hayes, 2000). As a
result, the Commonwealth Minister for Labour and National Service introduced the Child Care Act
1972, which commenced Commonwealth involvement in the funding of child care programs beyond
the Lady Gowrie Centres. From 1983 to 1990 child care provision was regarded as part of the social
wage under the Commonwealth Labor Government where government provided benefits and services
(Press Hayes, 2000). In 1990 the Commonwealth Labor Government extended the

Sometimes the book got boring but it was mostly lively. The movie was also exiting and humorous at
some parts. The tone of the movie was adventurous because a lion almost ate them, monkeys invaded
the house and stole the cops car, and spiders tried to get them. Another adventure is peter rolled the

Evangelicalism In The Second Great Awakening
Evangelicalism came out of various movements that came in the Protestant church the second Great
Awakening of the 1820s 1840s, resulted in the Christianization of young America and the dominance
of evangelicalism over the American religious climate .The Second Great Awakening marked a
fundamental transition in American religious life. Many early American religious groups in the
CALVINIST tradition had emphasized the deep depravity of human beings and believed they could
only be saved through the grace of God. The new evangelical movement, however, placed greater
emphasis on humans ability to change their situation for the better. By stressing that individuals could
assert their FREE WILL in choosing to be saved and by suggesting that

On Golden Pond Essay
One can t help but to draw links to the aging process when watching the three times Oscar winning
movie On Golden Pond. In Mark Rydell s On Golden Pond, we encounter a couple in the middle of
dealing with the anxieties and hardship of moving through the latter part of their life cycle. The older
actors played by Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn demonstrates different levels of activity, age
stratification, continuity, and disengagement theory in their lives.
Activity Theory argues that the more active a people are the more likely they are to be satisfied with
like (Moody Sasser, 2015). This is evident throughout the movie as Ethel tries to get Norman to be
more engaging with life. Ethel is active, very optimistic and has a positive outlook ... Show more

He finds as he advances more and more toward his 80th birthday his mental and physical functionality
are noticeably degrading. Even with these diminishing abilities Norman turns his life around by
employing Activity Theory. His preoccupied thoughts of death begin to fade and he has sense of
fulfillment when he begins to mentor a young boy. On Golden Pond shows how Norman over comes
his growing thoughts, anger and fear of growing old and finally death. Growing old is process and
everyone has to find our own way. It also show there is no one theory that encompasses everything
that a person deals with as they transition into old age. Lastly the film depicts how these changes
effect the supporting family member as they come to grip with a love one who in the last stages of

  • 3. Fall of the Qing Dynasty The fall of the Qing dynasty was caused by internal changes within the dynasty, peasant revolts, the rise of Sun Yat Sen and overall western influence. What happens when there is a trade imbalance between two major trading countries? Just ask Great Britain and China. It s hard to get by when the country you need goods from does not really need to trade goods with you. This is what happened with Great Britain and the Qing Dynasty. There was a high demand for China s tea in Great Britain but a low demand for Britain s goods in China. Great Britain was in debt with China and they had to do something to get out. As a result, they turned to selling silver to make the imbalance better. China could care less about Great Britain s silver so Great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Democracy meant rule by parliament and constitution, and the People s Livelihood made it so that the land and other resources should benefit the people and not fatten the ruling classes (McLenighan 34). Things were looking good for Sun Yat Sen when Empress Dowager Ci Xi died. The next and last emperor of China would be the 3 year old Henry Pu Yi. Sun Yat Sen and company took advantage of this very quickly. In early 1912, the Qing regents signed a document giving up the throne in Pu Yi s name, leaving Sun Yat Sen as president of a Republican. That was the end of the Qing Dynasty. Unfortunately for Sun Yat Sen he was only President for four years because the people of China weren t agreeing with all of his views. He was replaced by Yuan Shikai. After Yuan Shikai s death China began to fall apart so Sun Yat Sen never lived to see his ideas of The Three People s Principles become a reality. He died of cancer in 1925. The last 100 years of China was nothing but problems. Rebellion, wars and civil wars, pressure from foreigners, and foreign immigrants spreading their ideas and cultures throughout China. China let the foreigners get by with too much and the foreigners took advantage of China s weaknesses. The dynasty got weaker and weaker as timed progressed but China did not go down without a fight. • 4. Abolishment In Frankenstein Despite how extravagantly different the creation scene is in Shelley s novel compared to what is presented on screen, there is little to say on the subject. As already mentioned in the introduction, the tradition of exuberant, showy creation scenes didn t begin with the original textit{Frankenstein} (1931), but with the 1910 edition, where it lends half of its runtime to the conjuration of the monster. Each iteration of Frankenstein thereafter copies this extravagant method of portraying the creation scene, and as they do so, knowledge of Shelley s minimal description is lost. First, we must explore why her version of events isn t inclusive of the embellishment and indulgence on screen. In Shelley s text, the scene consists of a few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet he acknowledges that this moment is not one to celebrate, and thus compensates for this using other methods, turning the showy scene from a contradiction to a juxtaposition that emphasises the monstrosity of not only the monster, but Victor s actions in creating it: First, the monster lunges from a great copper sarcophagus filled with water to make it a kind of womb. After he lands sprawling in the spill tank under it, Victor lifts him up, vainly tries to show him how to walk, then ties him standing to a set of chains. But when the struggling creature is struck by a falling piece of wood and shortly goes limp, Victor concludes that he himself has killed this luckless heir to massive birth defects. and that this evil must be destroyed...forever. footcite{James Heffernan, Looking at the Monster: Frankenstein and Film pp.143} This departure from the novel highlights Victor as a more paternal figure than the text implies, making a point of the undercurrent of dread the scene should evoke, yet contrivedly conveying Victor s repulsion at the creature in this scene, Victor is less repulsed by the creature, as Shelley s text strongly emphasises, but more toward his own actions. It is only when Victor wakes up to the sight of the lumbering creature in the next scene does he cry out No! . This decision creates a confusing tone where it could initially be misconstrued by the audience that Branagh s Victor is merely startled by the presence of a monster he had presumed dead, muddling up the message of Victor s regret and of the repercussions of rebirth that Shelley intends on ... • 5. The World Trade Organization and Intellectual Property Rights I. INTRODUCTION One of the most controversial provisions of the World Trade Organization s (WTO) Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) patent regime is the compulsory product patent protection for pharmaceutical inventions. In order to comply with the TRIPS obligation, India introduced product patent protection from 1 January 2005. In doing so, India in a way reinstated the patent regime, which is believed to favour the pharmaceutical Multinational Corporations (MNCs). While carrying out the amendment, Indian policy makers were confronted with two major concerns, viz. the future of the Indian pharmaceutical industry and access to affordable medicines within the country and other developing countries. Thus the major concern was how the adoption of intellectual property regimes would affect their efforts to improve public health, and economic and technological development more generally, particularly if the effect of introducing patent protection was to increase the price and decrease the choice of sources of pharmaceuticals . To make use of the flexibilities available within and outside of TRIPS turned out to be the most pragmatic solution available for developing countries, including India, to address the concerns on the availability and accessibility of medicines. According to this approach, TRIPS provides only minimum standards of protection and does not set the universal common standard for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stanislavski s Love For Puppet Theater Konstantin Sergeyevich Alekseyev (with the stage name Stanislavski ) was born in the large capital city of Moscow, Russia, in 1863 the year of the January Uprising in the former Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth against the Russian Empire, which had a significant impact on the economic, political and social situation in Russia. The following years proved to be a time of crisis for Russia, as the economy developed extremely slowly compared to the other major nations in Europe. The population in Russia increased dramatically during this time period, and most people suffered from frightful economic conditions (including living and working conditions.) Luckily, born to one of the wealthiest families in Russia during this time period, Stanislavski developed a love for puppet theatre, ballet and opera, and began to follow in his family s creative footsteps at 14 years old, influenced by his grandmother (a French actress) and his father (who built a theatre on their property.) • 7. Understanding Lord Byron The Romantic Period Stephanie Zavala Mrs. Krudwig English 12 3 March 2017 Understanding Lord Byron The Romantic Period was a time where life changed for so many. At the time, nations were experiencing the results of the Industrial Revolution. England was the first nation in the world to experience the effects of the Industrial Revolution (Henry 527). Instead of products being made by hand, they were being made now by machines. Homes of people were being used for industries. The people most affected were those of the lower class. No one cared about them. People were ignoring the changes in the world. Romantics wanted to show the world that these changes were negative changes. Imagination was seen as one of the key features to describe one s perspective of the world. Henry explains that the human imagination is some kind of desire a motive that drives the mind to discover things that it cannot learn by rational or logical thinking (532). Logical thinking could not explain the importance in change, so something else had to be used. Imagination drives a person s mind into deeper thought than does reason. He explains how life on earth dies off. All earth was but one thought and that was death (Byron 42). Writing about an apocalyptic world, brings out the curiosity of people; therefore, people use imagination to put themselves in this situation to be able to understand. William quotes, I see everything I paint in this world, but everybody does not see alike (532). Everyone has a different perspective. It is hard to be able to explain the writer s writing without imagination and creativity. Readers don t use reason to understand the poet s intention. Using reason, just describes only one point of view. Henry states, Romanticism turned away from the eighteenth century emphasis on reason and artifice. Instead, the Romantics embraced imagination and naturalness (529). During the period, they believed that imagination, rather than mere reason, was the best response to the forces of change (Henry 529). According to Henry, Wordsworth ... • 17. Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Development Piaget s Theory of Cognitive Development Piaget s theory of cognitive development consists of four stages, these stages include the sensorimotor stage, the preoperational stage, the concrete operational stage, and the formal operational stage. When a person transitions from stage to stage they go through assimilation, accommodation, and equilibrium. The first stage, the sensorimotor stage, takes place from birth to two years. Piaget divided this stage into six substages. As an infant, I was always hungry. I was bottle fed, so I had to develop a simple reflexive behavior, such as sucking the nipple of the bottle. Simple reflexes refer to the first month after a child is born. At around two or three months old I experienced a primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first substage occurs between the ages of two to four. As a child, I often played with tea sets and my friends and I would have little tea parties. When the glasses of the tea sets would touch and make a sound, we would say the glasses were hitting each other. This represents animism, because glasses are inanimate objects that cannot actually hit each other. The second substage begins at the age of four and ends at the age of seven. When I was this age, my favorite word was why, I would always ask questions. I had to know why things happened when they did. For example, when I first saw an ambulance drive by, I asked why there were sirens going off on the car. Our car obviously didn t have sirens when we drove, so I wanted to know why that ambulance made noise. This represented intuitive thought, because I showed interest in reasoning in why the ambulance was different from our car. The third stage is the concrete operational stage, which lasts from seven to eleven years of age. In this stage, children begin to reason when the logical reasoning can be applied to concrete examples. An example of this for me was when I would eat candy with my friends, we all wanted the same amount so everything would be fair. According to Piaget, if we could decipher the amounts correctly even if the candy pieces were different shaped, we would be successful at completing concrete ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
