- In 2007, the China Tomorrow Education Fund (CTEF) helped rebuild or renovate 21 schools, donating over 17,000 books across 6 Chinese provinces. CTEF raised over $137,000 from Microsoft employees in China. - CTEF partnered with the InterGlow NGO to build a community center and school in rural Sichuan to provide education, skills training, and entrepreneurship opportunities for over 100 children and adults. - CTEF sponsored a teacher to create a multimedia lab project bringing computer skills and equipment to local village schools.

Gardens would use school grounds to avoid private permissions, utilize student labor, and involve the community by talking to education leaders, spreading awareness, and beginning construction with supplemental funds for supplies while offsetting school expenses.

The goal is to educate students and the community on climate change solutions.

The Sacred Heart environmental club installed energy efficient light bulbs in 8 lower-income households in New Orleans as part of their work with the nonprofit Greenlight New Orleans. The residents were happy to learn about the savings on their utility bills. The environmental club has a long-standing relationship with Greenlight New Orleans, with many students volunteering over the years. Receiving prize money would help Greenlight New Orleans continue its work of installing efficient light bulbs, as it relies solely on donations and grants to fund the project.
TTWUD - An Economic and social approach to Mental Health - Chris Underhill
BasicNeeds is a non-profit founded in 2000 by Chris Underhill to help people with mental illness or epilepsy live and work successfully in their communities. It has operated programs in 12 countries since 2001, providing community mental health services, peer support groups, and helping people reenter the workforce. The organization has served over 589,000 people and seen significant improvements in access to treatment, community participation, and ability to work, as well as reductions in symptoms.

This report summarizes developments at the CENEOH school in Haiti during the 2007-2008 school year. Infrastructure projects included constructing a stairway roof, building a water reservoir, and finishing the playground, especially for kindergarteners. Other areas identified for improvement were painting the main entrance and developing the home garden. The school began participating in a volunteer program to help advertise and recruit volunteers to assist with teaching, curriculum development, and supporting students. Donations were requested to fund scholarships, teacher salaries, infrastructure upgrades, and teaching materials.
