WHAT IS THE GENESIS OR THE BACKGROUND AND MOTIVATION FOR THE
INITIATIVE RELATED TO THE PEDAGOGY FOLLOWED / ECAMPUS/ ICT
LABORATORY IN THE SCHOOL?

The International dimension in overall personality development of our students has
become an integral part of our school’s ethos. It has not only widened our horizon,
but also opened new vistas and broadened our thinking. This journey of
internationalism has nurtured our students’ enthusiasm, creativity and talent. I am
particularly pleased to see that this is in consonance with the vision of our school,
which is ‘to mould students to achieve global standards of excellence in
academics and create lifelong learners’.
Our philosophy, “Think big, think different, think fast, think ahead and question
for the best” helps us be in sync with global trends. Global Education is undergoing
constant changes. é-tude is a kaleidoscopic programme that not only facilitates
understanding of international educational and cultural procedures but also fosters
camaraderie between nations separated by geo-political boundaries.
We prepare every child in our school to have an e-pal and each one to be a global
citizen, aware of his/her responsibilities and role in the global community. We also
aim that all the students as well as the teachers to tread more paths of challenges.

We, at Sir Padampat Singhania Education Center nurture future leaders of the
World. The project “é-tude” has made it easy for our students to understand the
dynamics of interdependence within the ever shrinking global village.
The teaching-learning process strives for the holistic development of the students
focusing on scholastic and co- scholastic wings. The project targets in imparting
education and providing opportunities that promote social, cultural, mental,
emotional and physical growth to every child.

     still operational? : YES

DETAILS OF THE MOST UNIQUE FEATURE OF THE INITIATIVE RELATED TO
PEDAGOGY / E-CAMPUS / ICT LABORATORY THAT MAKES IT INNOVATIVE,
CREATIVE AND YET , VIABLE FOR EFFECTIVE USE WITHIN THE SCHOOL
EDUCATION SYSTEM.
The project deals with considerable research and empirical studies to understand the
ways in which it differs from traditional models of learning, the implications of such
differences, and the ways to use the newly available technological infrastructures
effectively. The idea of the project is to come up with an appropriate application within
the institution’s learning paradigm so that some of these negative implications can be
alleviated. These applications might include requiring the learners to participate in a set
of mandatory face-to-face tutorials which give both the teacher and the learner
opportunities to build motivation, assess progress, convey the course content, formulate
suitable testing mechanisms, and undergo oral, written, and practical tests.
Reasons for Starting Programme/Project/Initative:
With the installation of ICT , our school changed to an e-Content education system.
Technology have now become a tool for learning and not another subject to teach.
We are forging ahead in ICT with a speed and availability of knowledge and information
in different formats. Knowledge and learning have achieved a new level, so have the
methodology to deliver and to learn. Knowledge is now well shared on a click of mouse,
screen or a cellphone. The use of ICT has helped us effectively illustrate and reinforce
facts and ideas to our students. Teachers’ role has changed from transmitters to
facilitators and supporters of learning. Every teacher had to comprehend that he who
learns, teaches and he who teaches, learns. And the classrooms have become a world of
limitless possibilities where our students revel in the discovery of knowledge.

Objective:
At Sir Padampat Singhania Education Center we have now adopted the best practices
and partnerships across the globe for the benefit of our students first and then well
shared by others. At Sir Padampat Singhania Education Center we wish to expand
                                                 5
educational opportunities by making education available anywhere, anytime and to
everyone. We have improved learning outcomes, making learning more interactive and
getting learners more involved. ICT and technology will enable education to be tailored
to individual learning needs and abilities since we are using the CCE. Eventually this has
provided conditions that permit and promote team work abilities and other twenty-first
century skills among learners.

Target Group:
All our stakeholders comprising from Standard One to Standard Twelve, into total 4000+
students have benefitted largely from the ICT and technology and welcome any new
contribution.
5 achievements of the programme/project/initiative:
1. After going fully Wi-Fi, we have the computer based testing (CBT) and on demand test
   (OTE) schemes for our students.

DETAILS OF THE VARIOUS COMPONENTS OR MODULES OF THE PEDAGOGY / E-
CAMPUS / ICT LABORATORY INITIATED BY OUR ORGANÉ-TUDETION.

The project deals with e-based digital learning. It is different from the conventional and
usual manual handling of various modules. The project is very innovative as it provides
new and latest techniques of teaching-learning process through the following:

  CAL Packages

Computer Aided Learning (CAL) packages are an excellent tool of making the teaching
learning process more rewarding. The school understands the concept and has thus
inculcated various CAL packages in the curriculum. The CAL packages are implemented
in each class room. The topics covered are as per the CBSE syllabus. Each class room has
hardware resources to run the CAL packages

  Smart Boards:

The Smart Board is a large interactive whiteboard that uses touch detection for user
input – e.g. scrolling, right mouse-click – in the same way normal PC input devices, such
as a mouse or keyboard detect input. A projector is used to display a computer’s video
output on the whiteboard, which then acts as a large touch screen.

  School Software

To reduce the over-all loaded manual work and update the record maintenance , the
school has introduced its own customized software that performs various functions.
Right from the attendance of the students to the result entry, everything is computerized.
The various activities that can be performed with the help of an software are:
 Attendance of the students and staff
       Result Entry
 Report Card Generation according to new CCE Format

What has been the impact of the initiative related to Pedagogy / e-
Campus / ICT laboratory by the school?

é-tude is one of the greatest achievement of the school. It has helped us to communicate
not only with the surroundings but also with the outer world. The project is a landmark
in the school achievements. As a result of the project implementation, we have achieved
the following:

We, at Sir Padampat Singhania Education Center nurture future leaders of the
World. The é-tude Programme has made it easy for our students to understand the
dynamics of interdependence within the ever shrinking global village.

       International Projects
We are now turning global and we have an international edge towards our institution.
It is a matter of great pride that the teachers of our school recently attended a
prestigious workshop conducted by the British Council. We are bidding for the
international school award given by the British Council to outstanding schools all over
the world. Our teachers will now be collaborating with schools in U.K. and other
countries across the globe. We will be venturing into several international students
exchange programmes this year and the trip to Malta will be organized in the month of
May.

The International dimension in overall personality development of our students
has become an integral part of our ethos. It will not only widen our horizon, but
also opened new vistas and broadened our thinking. This journey of
internationalism will nurture our students’ enthusiasm, creativity and talent. We
are particularly glad to note that this is in consonance with the vision of our school,
which is ‘to mould students to achieve global standards of excellence in academics
and create lifelong learners’.

This project aims to improve educational links between India and the U.K., ensuring in

                                                 12
the long term, they become partners in education.
The major activities include special projects, contact seminars, educational research,
leadership programmes, workshops, etc. In-charges from different schools of India
visited our school. They shared their valuable experiences with the faculty and the
students of our school apart from their important projects.

The school is collaborating with the U.K. schools on four projects one of them being
‘Globalization: Cultural Diversity,Moral education to Teenagers, keeping the earth
grren,Developing Reading and Learning habits’. We have made
PowerPoint Presentations, project files and questionnaires related to all aspects of
Globalization.

     International Olympiads

The school has constantly been conducting various National and International
Olympiads. Our students have made us proud by securing appreciable ranks in these
Olympiads, thereby taking the institution to a glorious height. More than 60% students
have reached the second level and more than 50% students have scored top 50 ranks
  in the latter.

Following are the key challenges faced while implementing the initiative
related toPedagogy / e-Campus / ICT laboratory by the school

Class observations and Peer observations : Class observations and Peer
observations by the heads with appropriate feedback help teachers to instantly
improve on the quality of presentations made and checked for quality.

Use of E-report: Getting use to feeding of marks and grades for our e-Report
format. But soon their fear and inhibitions were channelized.

Upgradation and maintaining staff records: Upgrading and maintaining the
data for all our stakeholders at the beginning of every academic session.

Training of Teachers It was quiet a difficult task to train the teachers about the
new technologies and make them understand the É-tude based learning. The
teachers have doubtlessly expertise in their fields but it was yet a challenging task to
upgrade them with the latest technology.
Resource Requirement It was another challenging task to collect the resources
   required for the project implementation.
Converting the conventional teaching methods into new techniques To bring
                                                 13
about a change in something that exits for years is a tough job. Similar was the
condition with e-SHIKSHA. It required a lot of time, energy and money to implement
the project. It is not an easy task to change the thought process of an individual.
     Economical Factor
The main economical problem we pertained to was the cost of CAL packages.

Do you think the initiative related to Pedagogy / e-Campus / ICT laboratory by the
school can serve as a model that can be replicated or adapted by others?

WORKING TOGETHER IN EDUCATION….………

All the institutions have similar goals and objectives to serve the society. So they can
implement é-tude with a modified version as per their requirements. Today, the
perspectives of young people are changing at a pace faster than ever. Young people with
their aspirations, ideas and achievements are all confidently poised on the crest of a
knowledge revolution that will determine the shape of the future. To do so, they need to
develop the skills to communicate and cooperate with an understanding and tolerance of
other cultures and their impact on each other in shaping the future. The project is a well
recommended model that can be easily replicated and adapted by the others to enhance
the following:
 To gradually adapt new changes in the field of education
 To observe and build upon existing teaching strategies
 To identify progress at an early stage and help develop progression for pupils
 To set up collabrative projcts, workshops for school staff to improve teaching
     methodologies
 To understand global issues more holistically

The project has been completely accepted and appreciated by one and all. It has in some
way or the other been successful in meeting its goals and provide new technologies based
on digital learning to the society. Some remarkable appreciations of the project are:

The project achieved a new height of success when our parents appreciated it.
The parents are over whelmed with the current teaching technologies and are
looking forward to something more new.

Sir Padampat Singhania Education Center, Kamla Nagar Kanpur aims at comprehensive quality education .The school believes in imparting education and providing opportunities that promote social, cultural, mental , emotional and physical growth to every child. The school has contributed its mite to extend the child - centric quality education. The school has adopted the motto ‘Our efforts, studies and knowledge should be brilliant’ with a clear vision and understanding that education is for the child with purity, grace and brilliance. The school believes in liberating the minds of students, thus collaborative learning along with new innovative teaching methods is the hallmark of our institution. To realize the motto, the school introduced the project “é-tude”, an E-learning based program to incorporate technical knowledge in their day to day life so as to lead the world in scientific and technical race. The students have carved a niche for them by energetically participating in different national and international competitions. They have consistently shown their excellence in debate, quiz, dance, music, art, craft, drama competitions as well as in academics. 2
  • 3. WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE FOR THE INITIATIVE RELATED TO THE PEDAGOGY FOLLOWED / E-CAMPUS/ICT L ABORATORY IN THE SCHOOL? é-tude aims at empowering individuals to become a Global Citizen. • 4. WHAT IS THE GENESIS OR THE BACKGROUND AND MOTIVATION FOR THE INITIATIVE RELATED TO THE PEDAGOGY FOLLOWED / ECAMPUS/ ICT LABORATORY IN THE SCHOOL? The International dimension in overall personality development of our students has become an integral part of our school’s ethos. It has not only widened our horizon, but also opened new vistas and broadened our thinking. This journey of internationalism has nurtured our students’ enthusiasm, creativity and talent. I am particularly pleased to see that this is in consonance with the vision of our school, which is ‘to mould students to achieve global standards of excellence in academics and create lifelong learners’. Our philosophy, “Think big, think different, think fast, think ahead and question for the best” helps us be in sync with global trends. Global Education is undergoing constant changes. é-tude is a kaleidoscopic programme that not only facilitates understanding of international educational and cultural procedures but also fosters camaraderie between nations separated by geo-political boundaries. We prepare every child in our school to have an e-pal and each one to be a global citizen, aware of his/her responsibilities and role in the global community. We also aim that all the students as well as the teachers to tread more paths of challenges. We, at Sir Padampat Singhania Education Center nurture future leaders of the World. The project “é-tude” has made it easy for our students to understand the dynamics of interdependence within the ever shrinking global village. The teaching-learning process strives for the holistic development of the students focusing on scholastic and co- scholastic wings. The project targets in imparting education and providing opportunities that promote social, cultural, mental, emotional and physical growth to every child. Date of inception of the initiative : 25.06.2011 4
  • 5. Is the above mentioned initiative still operational? : YES DETAILS OF THE MOST UNIQUE FEATURE OF THE INITIATIVE RELATED TO PEDAGOGY / E-CAMPUS / ICT LABORATORY THAT MAKES IT INNOVATIVE, CREATIVE AND YET , VIABLE FOR EFFECTIVE USE WITHIN THE SCHOOL EDUCATION SYSTEM. The project deals with considerable research and empirical studies to understand the ways in which it differs from traditional models of learning, the implications of such differences, and the ways to use the newly available technological infrastructures effectively. The idea of the project is to come up with an appropriate application within the institution’s learning paradigm so that some of these negative implications can be alleviated. These applications might include requiring the learners to participate in a set of mandatory face-to-face tutorials which give both the teacher and the learner opportunities to build motivation, assess progress, convey the course content, formulate suitable testing mechanisms, and undergo oral, written, and practical tests. Reasons for Starting Programme/Project/Initative: With the installation of ICT , our school changed to an e-Content education system. Technology have now become a tool for learning and not another subject to teach. We are forging ahead in ICT with a speed and availability of knowledge and information in different formats. Knowledge and learning have achieved a new level, so have the methodology to deliver and to learn. Knowledge is now well shared on a click of mouse, screen or a cellphone. The use of ICT has helped us effectively illustrate and reinforce facts and ideas to our students. Teachers’ role has changed from transmitters to facilitators and supporters of learning. Every teacher had to comprehend that he who learns, teaches and he who teaches, learns. And the classrooms have become a world of limitless possibilities where our students revel in the discovery of knowledge. Objective: At Sir Padampat Singhania Education Center we have now adopted the best practices and partnerships across the globe for the benefit of our students first and then well shared by others. At Sir Padampat Singhania Education Center we wish to expand 5
  • 6. educational opportunities by making education available anywhere, anytime and to everyone. We have improved learning outcomes, making learning more interactive and getting learners more involved. ICT and technology will enable education to be tailored to individual learning needs and abilities since we are using the CCE. Eventually this has provided conditions that permit and promote team work abilities and other twenty-first century skills among learners. Target Group: All our stakeholders comprising from Standard One to Standard Twelve, into total 4000+ students have benefitted largely from the ICT and technology and welcome any new contribution. 5 achievements of the programme/project/initiative: 1. After going fully Wi-Fi, we have the computer based testing (CBT) and on demand test (OTE) schemes for our students. 2. With the annual techno-fest ‘TECHNIKA’ and a Mega Science Festival “GENESIS” we are able to generate a lot of interest in technology, innovations and robotics. 3. The easy to use tools have empowered our staff to frame their lessons using the vast repository of multimedia objects available. They use interactive animations, diagrams, demonstrations, videos, songs, movie-clips making teaching and learning engaging and fun. 4. What has been the impact of the initiative related to Pedagogy / e- Campus / ICT laboratory by the school? é-tude is one of the greatest achievement of the school. It has helped us to communicate not only with the surroundings but also with the outer world. The project is a landmark in the school achievements. As a result of the project implementation, we have achieved the following: We, at Sir Padampat Singhania Education Center nurture future leaders of the World. The é-tude Programme has made it easy for our students to understand the dynamics of interdependence within the ever shrinking global village. International Projects We are now turning global and we have an international edge towards our institution. It is a matter of great pride that the teachers of our school recently attended a prestigious workshop conducted by the British Council. We are bidding for the international school award given by the British Council to outstanding schools all over the world. Our teachers will now be collaborating with schools in U.K. and other countries across the globe. We will be venturing into several international students exchange programmes this year and the trip to Malta will be organized in the month of May. The International dimension in overall personality development of our students has become an integral part of our ethos. It will not only widen our horizon, but also opened new vistas and broadened our thinking. This journey of internationalism will nurture our students’ enthusiasm, creativity and talent. We are particularly glad to note that this is in consonance with the vision of our school, which is ‘to mould students to achieve global standards of excellence in academics and create lifelong learners’. This project aims to improve educational links between India and the U.K., ensuring in 12

The major activities include special projects, contact seminars, educational research, leadership programmes, workshops, etc. In-charges from different schools of India visited our school. They shared their valuable experiences with the faculty and the students of our school apart from their important projects. The school is collaborating with the U.K. schools on four projects one of them being ‘Globalization: Cultural Diversity,Moral education to Teenagers, keeping the earth grren,Developing Reading and Learning habits’. We have made PowerPoint Presentations, project files and questionnaires related to all aspects of Globalization. International Olympiads The school has constantly been conducting various National and International Olympiads. Our students have made us proud by securing appreciable ranks in these Olympiads, thereby taking the institution to a glorious height. More than 60% students have reached the second level and more than 50% students have scored top 50 ranks in the latter. Following are the key challenges faced while implementing the initiative related toPedagogy / e-Campus / ICT laboratory by the school Class observations and Peer observations : Class observations and Peer observations by the heads with appropriate feedback help teachers to instantly improve on the quality of presentations made and checked for quality. Use of E-report: Getting use to feeding of marks and grades for our e-Report format. But soon their fear and inhibitions were channelized. Upgradation and maintaining staff records: Upgrading and maintaining the data for all our stakeholders at the beginning of every academic session. Training of Teachers It was quiet a difficult task to train the teachers about the new technologies and make them understand the É-tude based learning. The teachers have doubtlessly expertise in their fields but it was yet a challenging task to upgrade them with the latest technology. Resource Requirement It was another challenging task to collect the resources required for the project implementation. Converting the conventional teaching methods into new techniques To bring 13
  • 14. about a change in something that exits for years is a tough job. Similar was the condition with e-SHIKSHA. It required a lot of time, energy and money to implement the project. It is not an easy task to change the thought process of an individual. Economical Factor The main economical problem we pertained to was the cost of CAL packages. Do you think the initiative related to Pedagogy / e-Campus / ICT laboratory by the school can serve as a model that can be replicated or adapted by others? WORKING TOGETHER IN EDUCATION….……… All the institutions have similar goals and objectives to serve the society. So they can implement é-tude with a modified version as per their requirements. Today, the perspectives of young people are changing at a pace faster than ever. Young people with their aspirations, ideas and achievements are all confidently poised on the crest of a knowledge revolution that will determine the shape of the future. To do so, they need to develop the skills to communicate and cooperate with an understanding and tolerance of other cultures and their impact on each other in shaping the future. The project is a well recommended model that can be easily replicated and adapted by the others to enhance the following:  To gradually adapt new changes in the field of education  To observe and build upon existing teaching strategies  To identify progress at an early stage and help develop progression for pupils  To set up collabrative projcts, workshops for school staff to improve teaching methodologies  To understand global issues more holistically The project has been completely accepted and appreciated by one and all. It has in some way or the other been successful in meeting its goals and provide new technologies based on digital learning to the society. Some remarkable appreciations of the project are: The project achieved a new height of success when our parents appreciated it. The parents are over whelmed with the current teaching technologies and are looking forward to something more new. 14
