Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM), also known as tubotympanic disease, is a chronic ear infection limited to the antero-inferior part of the middle ear cavity. It does not cause serious complications as the infection is open at both ends, allowing discharge to flow freely. The most common microorganisms isolated are gram-negative bacilli like Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. Patients experience conductive hearing loss ranging from 30-40dB.
