Did the Election of 1828 Represent a Democratic Revolt of...
Did the Election of 1828 Represent a Democratic Revolt of the People? Despite the outcome I fully
believe that the election of 1828 did in fact, create a democratic revolt of the people because of the
social and political backlash that the election created. The election of Andrew Jackson as President in
1828 marked the beginning of an era known as Jacksonian Democracy or the Age of the Common
Man. The changes in politics during Jackson s presidency provided various social and economic
changes. Actually, political change began several years before Jackson became president. In the
Election of 1824, Jackson had the most popular and electoral votes, but did not win the election.
Because the vote was split four ways, he did not have the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, voters and politicians now nominated candidates, rather than the political party leaders in
Congress. This and other events led to a more democratic society. Jackson also gave government jobs
to regular people. This was called the spoils system. He appointed people to federal jobs depending on
whether they had campaigned for the Democratic Party. Anyone currently in office who was not a
democratic was replaced with a democrat. This was called the spoils system because it promoted a
corrupt government. He also believed in rotation in office. He wanted to make it possible for more
democrats to have government jobs, so he limited a person s time in office to one term. The spoils
system showed how one man was no better than another and helped build a strong two party system.
In the two party system, supporters of Jackson were Democrats and supporters of his rival, Henry
Clay, were the Whigs. The Democratic Party resembled the old Republican party of Jefferson, while
the Whigs represented the Federalist party of Hamilton. Jackson was similar to Jefferson because he
opposed increasing federal spending and the national bank. He vetoed 12 bills, which was more than
the total of all 6 presidents before him. One of the things he vetoed was the use of federal money to
make the Maysville Road, because it was entirely in one state. It

Online Music Is Changing Mp3 Players
Perhaps one of the greatest innovations in the early nineties for music was the mp3 player. This may
be due to the fact that the mp3 has had a huge impact upon both the music industry and societies
listeners. Weinstock stated that, the world of the mp3 is a fast growing music technology available to
anyone with Internet access. Fan are promoting the mp3 as the most personalized music form ever
created that will propel music into the next millennium (9). The invention of the mp3 is notable for
producing and changing the music industry s role through the changed in the copyright and ownership
issues. In what follows, I will argue how the face of online music is changing mp3 players. Firstly,
through examining the numerous ways people can download and transfer music onto their mp3
handheld player. Through drawing upon the concepts of YouTube; a website for posting video clips,
iTunes; a digital media player application, Spotfiy; a music streaming service and mp3.com ; a
company to emerge around the idea of free music. Secondly, I will discuss the mp3 player not as
software, but as an object that is constantly connected between our body and new media. I will
formulate the notions of remediation and analogue to digital media as key terms that have allowed the
mp3 to become such a prominent form that was crucial to the experience of music.
Technologies are cultural objects that are created by other people, which give information about the
creator and its users. Every

Department 19 Villains
Essay English
Through the study of the three texts; Department 19 by Will Hill, Macbeth the play and The Social
Network by David Fincher, it is evident that literary villains are archetypes that often represent the
evil side of human nature. One may argue that each villain has certain traits that allow the reader to be
drawn to the terror and horror of their deeds yet also allow readers to reflect upon the society that has
created such individuals. Authors stray their villains from the stereotype to keep the modern audience
engaged.
Often the physical appearance can define the villain, as it can be the most appealing and revealing area
of any individual at first glance. In Department 19, Will Hill uses the characteristics of ... Show more

Alexandru s villainy is almost entirely reliant on his behaviour. Marie squeezed her eyes shut as
Anderson let out a scream, a high pitched howl..He was smiling at her... something red flew away into
the shadow Hill uses horror imagery, to depict the intimidating personality of Alexandru, he willingly
tears out the tongue of his servant, without dismay. Alexandru is well educated this can be seen in his
manner when speaking; We haven t been introduced, it said, favouring her with a dazzling smile of
sharp white teeth. My name is Alexandru Rusmanov and you, of course, are Marie Carpenter by
creating a polished superficial exterior it often allows for the deception to be hidden and creates
dramatic irony as the audience knows Hill has portrayed him with duality traits.
As demonstrated in these texts there are different ways that villains can be represented. In the post
modern age often the role of villain is not as clear cut and the morality and ethical outcomes of the
characters actions are represented as ambiguous. In a text such as The Social Network by David
Fincher many relationships inverse and promises are broken. Finch almost leaves it for the audience to
decide on the true villain. Authors use deception and machiavellianism to successfully integrate the
villain into the theme and provide additional dimensions. In the Social Network, Mark

Electronic Warfare During WWII
During World War 2 what was once thought be only be an enabler that the British and US would

LORAN is a pulsed hyperbolic system. Which means that hyperbolic lines of position are determined
by noting differences in time of reception of synchronized pulses from widely spaced transmitting
stations, primary and secondary, A primary station broadcasts an uninterrupted series of pulses of
fixed duration and at a fixed rate. A secondary station, 200 300 miles away, automatically transmits its
own signals, maintaining a frequency and pulse duration in accord with those of the primary station.
The secondary station maintains a fixed time difference between its reception of the primary signal
pulse and the sending out of its own. The identified time difference of arrival of the two pulses locates
the craft some where on a curve and every point of which is located at a constant difference in
distance between the stations.

Rabie Disease
A Disease is a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, that produces signs or
symptoms that impairs normal functioning and is not because of a direct result of physical injury
Rabies is caused by the Australian bat lyssavirus and the rabies virus. Rabies is a viral disease that
causes inflammation of the brain in mammals. It is transmitted through saliva if the infected comes in
contact with the eyes, mouth or nose of another mammal. It can also be spread if the rabid mammal
scratches or bites another human or animal. The rabies virus travels through the peripheral nerves and
transported to the central nervous systems and inflames the brain. Rabies invades the nervous system

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation
The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation provides an opportunity unlike most others of its kind. An
opportunity that I will use to reach my goal of changing the world in as great a capacity as I can.
Additionally, The Foundation is renowned for its mentorship programme which I will embrace
completely. The Foundation provides the stimulation and means to accelerate individuals into
positions of extraordinary scope and standing. I hope to stand amongst those great people. I believe I
have the talent, passion and compassion to do great things but need guidance and support to enable me
to achieve my goals. I hope to take this opportunity and change South Africa and the world by
embracing the opportunities it creates. Not only does this opportunity give many means to create
change but also to be an Allan Gray Fellow additionally adds gravitas to ones position and opens up
opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable. 6 My entrepreneurial spirit is created in part by
how I perceive the world. When I see problems with our world, they are not insurmountable
mountains but rather opportunities. They are opportunities for me personally to gain and for all those
that I would help by fixing that problem. This can be anything from the mundane to the most serious
issue of our time. An example of this is the amount of vegetable waste people produce in their homes
and their hesitancy to compost this waste. I perceived this problem and tried to come up with a
solution. There were some people

Sociological Effects Of Media Violence
Violence has become a major social disturbance that is continuously on the rise to become more
common within the media. Movies, TV shows, video games and the music in this era are being
heavily influenced by violent notions. Some of the most popular TV shows that are aired have a
significant amount of violence engulfed in the scripting. Even games and music that are produced are
commonly centered on a violent scheme. Media violence has become a sociological issue for many
reasons. Media inspires people in dramatic ways, which poses an issue when what is being portrayed
is violence. Society grasp ideas through many ways, media being one, and accept them as norms.

Violence has always been embedded in the infrastructure of media. Since it has been this way for such
a long time and is not causing a major threat to the upper classes, it is les beneficial to eradicate the
amount of violence in media. Subsequently, media violence exist because it does not cause major
issues to the one at the top. Also the media in violence exist because it serves a function in society.
One of its many functions is to retain the lower class. By targeting the youth, media encourages
violent acts that lead to imprisonment. This hinders the future advancement of the youth in the lower
class making them suffer in strife. In alignment with keeping the lower class down, it entices the
proliferation of the wealth and fame of the individuals that contribute in the productions of the media.

Legal Issues Of Booking Online
As we have learned in this course, there is a lot of excitement regarding the fact that businesses are
revolutionized by cyberspace. The internet has become a very dominant force in the marketplace and
almost every retailer now has a website with the option to purchase online. While buying online is
time and occasionally cost efficient, we must weigh the benefits and drawbacks of both methods. To
control illicit behaviour on the internet, there must be a model implemented for dealing with
undesirable conduct. Based on our lectures, it is my understanding that the purpose of a contract acts
as a model to deter illicit conduct but it does not stop all unlawful conduct. In this essay, I will discuss
the legal issues surrounding online shopping, more specifically purchasing/booking travel online and
the risks associated with that. For many, booking travel online offers a few perks such as the ability to
compare prices, the chance to comb through online reviews, and the convenience of booking your
vacation at the click of a button. Nevertheless, booking travel online also comes with some risks and
more and more scams are targeting consumers who are booking travel online. Booking your own
travel can create a lot of headaches for yourself and for trip companions. People are experiencing
significantly more issues when booking online. Of the pitfalls consumers are experiencing, there are
legal issues that may arise out of booking your travel online which supports my main argument

Normative, Informational and Persuasive Social Influences
1. Compare and contrast normative and informational social influence. Informational Influence and
Normative Influence are both categorized under conformity in sociology. Informational is basically
when we conform to others behavior because we believe it provides information about reality. It is
often when we care about getting the right answer and trying to be rational. It also deals with the
Maybe they know something I don t know phenomenon. An example, could be choosing to eat at a
busier restaurant opposed to the empty one, or imitating the locals when outside your country. In
contrast, Normative Influence is when we conform to others behavior because they expect us to. This
is when we believe conforming may have positive consequences, such as approval or the enhancement
of our reputation, or when we believe not conforming may have negative consequences, such as
disapproval or punishment. An example of Normative Influence is laughing at a joke you don t get, or
agreeing with an opinion you believe in others. Informational Social Influence this theory consists of
the need to analyze different the information and different points of view. When a person is found in

The Life Of Henrietta Lacks
What exactly is Public Health? Public Health entails generating facts about the health status of a
population. The population can be a community, a class or group of people, i.e., Male, Female, White,
Hispanic, African American, wealthy or not, and/or any of the above. Once facts are known
empirically, steps to improve the health status of that group can be designed, tested and ultimately
rolled out on a larger scale. In the novel The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, there are multiple
topics relating to Public Health policies (laws), research and education that are discussed and argued.
Eventually, this changed Health Care into what it is to date. Throughout decades, without her
knowledge, and with the use of her immortal, reproducing cancer cell line known as HeLa cells,
Henrietta Lacks along with various doctors and researchers changed the face of Public Health policy,
research and education. The use of her cancer cells and the outcomes of various experiments and
studies has been debated for a long time and causes people to question moral, religious and ethical
factors.
Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman during the segregation era in the 1950s, whose life
was changed by a quarter size knot in her cervix. Assuming something was wrong with her body,
Henrietta took a trip to visit a local Gynecologist, Dr. George Gey, in hopes of finding out what this
knot could be. After having her infected and healthy cells taken and tested for what Gey believed was

Do not overreact to your mistakes. They are not failures. They are setbacks. Failure happens when you
stop trying. Never stop. Mistakes often cannot be corrected. It is more important to accept them, learn
from them, and move forward. If you miss a meal or a training session, do not try to make one up.
Review how and why you missed the meal or training session to prevent from repeating the same
mistake in the future. Move on by focusing on your next meal or training session. This keeps you on
track and that much closer to achieving your objectives. Do not dwell on your mistakes, beat yourself

Palestinian Conflict In Israel
The only Jewish state in the world is called Israel. It was originally called Palestine, but was renamed
Israel when part of it was given to the Israelis. However Palestinians weren t happy when some of
their land was given away, and that started a conflict. That s what the Israeli Palestinian conflict is
about, who gets the land. Israel used to be a Jewish state, so there are lots of places that are very
meaningful to Jews. During the 1930 s many Jews were fleeing from Hitler and a lot of them moved
to Palestine, for safety; meanwhile in Europe people were starting to think Jews needed a homeland,
they thought that it would be good to put it in Palestine since their ancestors used to live there. The
U.N. decided to split Palestine up between Palestinians and Israelis; unfortunately it didn t go as well
as planned and there were many wars over the land. Right now there are high tensions between the
two groups; neither group likes the current situation, but neither one wants to change it. The creation
of Israel could have been handled better, had there been more thought about where and how to create
Israel.
When Palestine was split up between Israelis and Palestinians, it was not split up fairly. There was at
least half, if not more given to Israelis, however the Palestinians had twice the number of people. The
Partition Plan allocated approximately 55% of the land of historic Palestine to the Jewish state and just
42% to the Arab state... at the time, Arabs comprised about

Margret Thatcher. The first female prime minister of Britain, Margaret Thatcher was a stern and
dominant political leader. She has made a huge impact in the history of the world. She believed in
working towards her goals and achieving them accordingly. A popular quote form her is If you want
something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman. She was not a feminist. In fact,
as at the time she left office, she laid no foundation for other female politicians. It is expected that a

Analysis Of The Book Watchmen By Dc Comics
Colin Ellis
Dr. Angel
ENGL 2322.P01
21 March 2016
Watchmen
Watchmen, by DC Comics, should be considered a literary work for its great use of realism and
deconstruction, storytelling and subplots, and the focus on personal character development and their
moral codes. Watchmen utilizes these aspects in a way that makes the reader change the way they
think about their popular culture and what is valuable to them. These aspects help solidify the idea that
Watchmen is the first in a new breed of comics, one in which they make the transition from fantasy to
literature. It is a work that is recognized by many as a revolutionary comic series, and is even lauded
as one of the best novels and most significant works of the 20th century. It has solidified its place as a
cultural classic in America and it would be injudicious to not see Watchmen as a literary work.
In order to see Watchmen as a literary work, one must understand what that is. A classic is a literary
work our culture studies due to its ability to maintain being conventional, or popular, and relevant
despite times changing. When people think of an American classic, people think of stories like Harper
Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, and John Steinbeck s The Grapes
of Wrath. In these novels, the authors utilize certain aspects of language, such as intense character
development, subplots, and realism, and ties them together to create great, detailed storylines. This use

Are Video Games Art No But Playing Them Can Be Summary
In response to the article titled, Are Video Games Art? No But Playing Them Can Be, by author Phil
Hartup, he makes the argument that video games are not art, but rather the audience that engages
themselves in playing them makes it art. The author uses examples such as Mona Lisa and Michael
Bay just to support his claim, and while his claims are interesting, some of the stuff he says can be
ridiculous, in my opinion. I, myself, disagree with most of his claims. Video games have a big
influence on communities just like art, and not only that, but without graphic ARTISTS, we wouldn t
be able to have these video games that we have today. Video games, in my opinion have so much
creativity in them that they should be considered as art.
Hartup introduces his claim by giving examples of art such as the Mona Lisa and a few examples of
things with what Michael Bay does in movies. There is no direct dialogue with art, says Hartup, in
which this case, I must disagree. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, meaning that all
those details in paintings you see must give you some dialogue if you think about it. Many people
around the world are influenced and engaged with the dialogue of art, trying to find a deep meaning to
them, just like they are engaged in most video games in the same way. There is a lot of controversy

way I see it, and how I will continue to see it, is that video games is just like art due to the emotions it
brings to players, and by me saying that it s like art, I think it s safe to say that in a way, it is

Negative Effects Of Rejection
INTRODUCTION: According to Downey and Feldman (1996), the basic need to belong, the desire to
achieve acceptance and to avoid rejection is widely acknowledged to be a powerful motivational
drive. Social rejection occurs when an individual is deliberately excluded from a social relationship or
social interaction for social rather than practical reasons. A person can be rejected on an individual
basis or by an entire group of people. For example it can be missing an invitation to a friend s party, a
refusal of a job opportunity, the end of a romantic relationship, or the reluctance of a stranger to talk to
you etc. Further, rejection can be active, bullying, teasing or ridiculing, or passive, ignoring a person
or giving silent treatment . The experience of being rejected is subjective for the recipient, and it can
be perceived when it is not actually present. However, one s perspective on experiencing rejection and
the interpretation of the experience rejection vary to a great degree. Since humans are social beings,
some level of rejection is an inevitable part of life. Rejection becomes a problem when it is prolonged

When environmental or interpersonal cues are interpreted as rejection, the high rejection sensitivity
individual actually experiences feelings of rejection, which are likely to provoke an affective or
behavioural overreaction such as aggressive behaviour, depression, or socially inappropriate efforts to
prevent, or in some way obviate the rejection (Ayduk Mendoza Denton, 2000). These efforts, in turn,
often provoke rejection from the target of the behaviour, and so, the anxiety becomes a reality for the
rejection sensitive person. Additional experiences of rejection serve to prolong the expectations of
rejection, thus maintaining the rejection sensitive dynamic (Mitchell, Downey, Peake, Rodriguez,

The Pros And Cons Of Year-Round Education
Gone are the days of children getting off of school to help their family farms during the summer. Now,
children as well as the teachers get out for some much needed relaxation. So why do we still follow
the same schedule? It seems every school year the discussion of year round education captures the
attention of the general public. Is it time for year round education (YRE) to be the new norm?
Ultimately, there are not that many pros for year round schooling to be the new thing and the
traditional 180 day schedule should be kept.
Many schools across the America have tried implementing year round education. However, some
school districts that tried YRE go back to the 180 day schedule (Sardo Brown, Deborah, and Michael
Rooney 1). When year round education is proposed most of the time opposition is met. In 1992,
parents of a possible pilot school were surveyed on their thoughts. 59% of the parents responded.
There was an overwhelming amount of rejection. Just 10% of those surveyed favored YRE where
83% were against (Sardo Brown, Deborah, and Michael Rooney 1).
So why is there such opposition for year round school? The concerns seem to arise with the idea of
taking away summer vacation. Most cite that both the students and the teachers need a break from
school. This also the time where many families have vacation. Summer is the time where family spend
time together without homework and project due dates looming over the students. This looming
inevitably happens during the

The Pro s and Con s of Student Preaching
Introduction
The Pro s and Con s of a student preacher can be very nerve wrecking because of the responsibility of
following through with every I dotted and every T crossed. When writing, preaching and teaching the
Word of God it can become very intimidating to anyone who desires to follow in a league of skillful
preachers, pastors and teachers. How can you be original when it appears all of the apparent
techniques have been discovered? Speaking of technique, how should a student preacher apply
everything they ever learned from a Bible seminary? These are questions for many students of the
Bible. How do I represent God and still reach the lost souls of our generation and at the same time
feed the Believers of Christ so they won t starve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through this survey they found the small church pastor was not as influence by books because their
concern was more focused on discipleship. Whereas the pastor of a larger church was more apt to read
more books to get incite on how to continue to grow his church and meet the needs of the people. Also
the survey revealed the different types of influence came from authors, their fellow colleagues and
other theology influences. Also, they discovered pastors of a Pentecostal churches were more
conservative in their approaches and would not use the influence of outside sources. The Word of God
talks about the mature saint and the survey also discovered that the age of a pastor will have influence
of what is preached based on experience. Either way modern day preaching has many factors of how a
sermon is structured and shared among congregations at every main service. When you consider how
today s modern preacher or teacher compares to the original believers of Christ there is a shortage in
comparison. There could be one factor missing and it s just purely believing in the power of God s
word being enough for the people to feed on and live on until eternity. His word never changes it is the
bread of life that will feed any intellectual of our time.

Essay on The History and Development of Rock and Roll
History of Rock and Roll Loud, soothing, meaningful, and deep, rock music has many characteristics.
These characteristics are ones that rock music fans appreciate. But, many people have different
preferences of music, such as pop, rap, country, and other genres. Although there are several types of
music, most modern music comes back to the foundation of rock and roll. Many artists have been
influenced by the heart wrenching power of rock music. Most people that enjoy rock music do not
know how rock started. It is a genre that has evolved over the years. Rock and roll was built on the
foundation of jazz, blues, country, and folk music. The Les Paul electric guitar was also a big
contributor in music not just rock. One of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main artist to capitalize on combining country with blues and jazz was the king of rock and roll,
better known as Elvis Presley. He had the country twang along with the bluesy deep message and jazz
type feel, which started the music we all know today as rock and roll. The main innovation in rock
was the electric guitar. It brought a loud and free spirited feeling that came with rocking out. It
loosened up the music which brought many different styles and genres within rock. It broadened the
horizons to rock and roll letting people express themselves through their music. This rock craze
spilled overseas into Britain where many great artists were born. The British Invasion happened in the
mid 1960 s when bands moved from the United Kingdom to perform in America. The two main bands
coming out of this time period were the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. Both left lasting impressions
on American music. Led Zeppelin, The Who, and The Animals were also a part of this important time
period in rock and roll history. In this era most of America s top music charts all topped out with rock
and roll songs coming from Britain. Some notable songs are House of the Rising Sun, by The
Animals, Want to Hold Your Hand by The Beatles, and many others. Even though the British Invasion
took the United States by storm, it was just the beginning. Through rock history there were many

Essay On Waverly Play
Strategic Gameplay
Waverly plays many games throughout this story. She is very smart, easily deceiving many of her
opponents. Some of her games can be played on a tangible game board. Others cannot be seen, but
played through subtle suggestion. Waverly plays is the board game chess, where she must think ahead
and plan out every possible move to win. She must put herself in her opponent s shoes and try to
predict their strategy. I discovered that for the whole game one must gather invisible strengths and see
the endgame before the game begins. (Tan 8) By understanding Waverly s thought process throughout
a game, we are able to learn more about her as a person. She is aware of how different she is
compared to the other players, and uses it to her advantage. ...I would clasp my hands under my chin,
the delicate points of my elbows poised lightly on the table in the manner my mother had shown me
for posing for the press. I would swing my patent leather shoes back and forth like an impatient child
riding on a school bus. Then I would pause, suck in my lips, twirl my chosen piece in midair as if
undecided, and then firmly plant it in its new threatening place with a triumphant smile thrown back at
my opponent for good measure. (Tan 12) These situations show how ... Show more content on

Over time, she learns just how to manipulate her to get what she wants. One example of this is seen
when Waverly wants to attend at chess tournament that her mother would never agree to. I desperately

initiating what would appear to others as small talk, she redirects her mother s strong will. As we
walked home I said in a small voice that I didn t want to play in the local tournament. They would
have American rules. If I lost, I would bring shame on my family. (Tan 9) This shows she is not afraid

Sociology Gender Roles Essay
In this day and age, people are quick to come to a judgment about the way others live without
knowing their reasons why. Gender role refers to values, characteristics, and meanings that people use
to describe different sexes. Sex is a biological concept based on the determination of an individual s
primary sex characteristics. So often people confuse the two and automatically classify people because
of their masculinity, or femininity look. It is time to start realizing there are more to people than just
their outside appearance. Growing up believing we should look, act, dress, and talk a certain way do to
our outside persona is utterly wrong. A 1992 study tested gender stereotypes and labeling within

My Experience In Math
I believe everyone is capable of learning math. Everyone has struggled with something in life, and I
always had a struggle with mathematics. When I used to live in Illinois I didn t really struggle a lot in
math till I got into the fourth grade. I was in a class with fourth and fifth graders, we would always do
assignments and take tests and I always made bad grades on it. It always took me a while to
understand things and I wasn t engaged in math so I always got distracted. Also i thought about other
things that were not related to the teachers lessons. I always lacked confidence in myself because I
always failed at doing something when it came to math. I never believed in myself and I could never
see myself exceeding in math in the future. After a while, my teacher started noticing me struggling on
every assignment. They put me in a extra class to get me help. I didn t want to be in that class because
I wanted to be taught in the same class as my friends, so it made me a little upset at everything.
Whenever I went to the class they would walk me through the math to the point where I got it. Over a
period of time I started understanding Fourth grade math a little bit and I was improving. I wasn t the
best but I still showed improvement. I could still tell I didn t have much confidence in myself because
every time I took a test I always change my answer and was never too sure if I was right or wrong.
After fourth grade I moved to Texas. Everything was so different,

Airpower And Its Effectiveness Against The Enemy s...
The concept of airpower and its effectiveness against the enemy s fielded military forces is well
documented in a number of literatures. In the history of American military, airpower has been
considered not only as the sharpest military sword but also a highly versatile set of tools used to
effectively promote national strategy. Airpower s effectiveness in support of national strategy has
significantly improved since 1945. The study of airpower exposed certain consistencies which have
affected its effectiveness. The theory and practice of airpower filled the past century with frequently
persuasive victories coupled with a historical documentation packed with arguable failures. It is
important to note that the effectiveness of airpower, as a military operational strategy, has triggered a
debate among proponents and non proponents. Some airpower theorists have debated its effectiveness.
Throughout history, the many claims about airpower s decisiveness to independently win wars or
conflicts have hindered the notional and real application of this instrument of power. This essay
highlights factors which consider the scope of the strengths and limitations of airpower that has been
and will continue to be effective throughout the 21st century.
Because of its potential consequences, war should be the last resort of policy. Clausewitz advised us
that war is an extension of politics. It is always difficult to declare war and its outcome can never be

Meaning Mishaps and the Nature of Art Essay
Have you ever been confused about the purpose or meaning behind a certain piece of art? In my
opinion, art is viewed many different ways. The artist will create a piece of art with a certain intended
meaning, but it will most likely not be viewed in that way. When a spectator views a piece of art, they
take into account their past experiences, and since everyone has gone through different things, their
interpretations are different, as you can imagine. The nature of art is created when the artist intends
one thing, but the spectator sees the art differently; and therefore changes the meaning when they
spread their personal opinions.

Even though most of them have a Facebook too, they don t approve of them for their teens. They hear
scary stories that have to do with Facebook, and most mainly fear that their teens aren t going to be
safe. However, another major problem is that they are putting their friends before responsibilities. This
may cause outrage in some parents. They may seem strict, but really, they are just looking out for what
they think is best. This is why most parents are strongly Anti Facebook. In the end, it all comes down
to one major group that contributes to the ideas of both views, and this is society in itself. Basically
everywhere you look; there is something that, in some way or another, has to do with Facebook.
Whether it is advertising or a kidnapping, it s always seen differently when discussed with the two
different groups. Mark Zuckerberg is the creator of Facebook. When he first created Facebook, it was
used at his college as a mini way to communicate. It later spread to neighboring colleges. Now, it is
one of the most popular forms of communication today. He definitely didn t create Facebook to be
used as a source to target people, or as an excuse to get out of responsibilities. He really didn t want
any of this to happen, but because it does, people automatically blame him. This is totally the opposite
effect that he intended. [Facebook s] whole theory is that people have real connections in

Despite the outcome I fully believe that the election of 1828 did in fact, create a democratic revolt of the people because of the social and political backlash that the election created. The election of Andrew Jackson as President in 1828 marked the beginning of an era known as Jacksonian Democracy or the Age of the Common Man. The changes in politics during Jackson s presidency provided various social and economic changes. Actually, political change began several years before Jackson became president. In the Election of 1824, Jackson had the most popular and electoral votes, but did not win the election. Because the vote was split four ways, he did not have the ... This and other events led to a more democratic society. Jackson also gave government jobs to regular people. This was called the spoils system. He appointed people to federal jobs depending on whether they had campaigned for the Democratic Party. Anyone currently in office who was not a democratic was replaced with a democrat. This was called the spoils system because it promoted a corrupt government. He also believed in rotation in office. He wanted to make it possible for more democrats to have government jobs, so he limited a person s time in office to one term. The spoils system showed how one man was no better than another and helped build a strong two party system. In the two party system, supporters of Jackson were Democrats and supporters of his rival, Henry Clay, were the Whigs. The Democratic Party resembled the old Republican party of Jefferson, while the Whigs represented the Federalist party of Hamilton. Jackson was similar to Jefferson because he opposed increasing federal spending and the national bank. He vetoed 12 bills, which was more than the total of all 6 presidents before him. This may be due to the fact that the mp3 has had a huge impact upon both the music industry and societies listeners. The invention of the mp3 is notable for producing and changing the music industry s role through the changed in the copyright and ownership issues. In what follows, I will argue how the face of online music is changing mp3 players. Firstly, through examining the numerous ways people can download and transfer music onto their mp3 handheld player. Through drawing upon the concepts of YouTube; a website for posting video clips, iTunes; a digital media player application, Spotfiy; a music streaming service and mp3.com ; a company to emerge around the idea of free music. Secondly, I will discuss the mp3 player not as software, but as an object that is constantly connected between our body and new media. I will formulate the notions of remediation and analogue to digital media as key terms that have allowed the mp3 to become such a prominent form that was crucial to the experience of music. • 4. Department 19 Villains Essay English Through the study of the three texts; Department 19 by Will Hill, Macbeth the play and The Social Network by David Fincher, it is evident that literary villains are archetypes that often represent the evil side of human nature. One may argue that each villain has certain traits that allow the reader to be drawn to the terror and horror of their deeds yet also allow readers to reflect upon the society that has created such individuals. Authors stray their villains from the stereotype to keep the modern audience engaged. Often the physical appearance can define the villain, as it can be the most appealing and revealing area of any individual at first glance. In Department 19, Will Hill uses the characteristics of ... As demonstrated in these texts there are different ways that villains can be represented. In the post modern age often the role of villain is not as clear cut and the morality and ethical outcomes of the characters actions are represented as ambiguous. In a text such as The Social Network by David Fincher many relationships inverse and promises are broken. Finch almost leaves it for the audience to decide on the true villain. Informational Influence and Normative Influence are both categorized under conformity in sociology. Informational is basically when we conform to others behavior because we believe it provides information about reality. It is often when we care about getting the right answer and trying to be rational. It also deals with the Maybe they know something I don t know phenomenon. An example, could be choosing to eat at a busier restaurant opposed to the empty one, or imitating the locals when outside your country. In contrast, Normative Influence is when we conform to others behavior because they expect us to. This is when we believe conforming may have positive consequences, such as approval or the enhancement of our reputation, or when we believe not conforming may have negative consequences, such as disapproval or punishment. An example of Normative Influence is laughing at a joke you don t get, or agreeing with an opinion you believe in others. Informational Social Influence this theory consists of the need to analyze different the information and different points of view. However Palestinians weren t happy when some of their land was given away, and that started a conflict. That s what the Israeli Palestinian conflict is about, who gets the land. Israel used to be a Jewish state, so there are lots of places that are very meaningful to Jews. During the 1930 s many Jews were fleeing from Hitler and a lot of them moved to Palestine, for safety; meanwhile in Europe people were starting to think Jews needed a homeland, they thought that it would be good to put it in Palestine since their ancestors used to live there. Watchmen utilizes these aspects in a way that makes the reader change the way they think about their popular culture and what is valuable to them. These aspects help solidify the idea that Watchmen is the first in a new breed of comics, one in which they make the transition from fantasy to literature. It is a work that is recognized by many as a revolutionary comic series, and is even lauded as one of the best novels and most significant works of the 20th century. No But Playing Them Can Be, by author Phil Hartup, he makes the argument that video games are not art, but rather the audience that engages themselves in playing them makes it art. The author uses examples such as Mona Lisa and Michael Bay just to support his claim, and while his claims are interesting, some of the stuff he says can be ridiculous, in my opinion. I, myself, disagree with most of his claims. Video games have a big influence on communities just like art, and not only that, but without graphic ARTISTS, we wouldn t be able to have these video games that we have today. Video games, in my opinion have so much creativity in them that they should be considered as art. Hartup introduces his claim by giving examples of art such as the Mona Lisa and a few examples of things with what Michael Bay does in movies. There is no direct dialogue with art, says Hartup, in which this case, I must disagree. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, meaning that all those details in paintings you see must give you some dialogue if you think about it. • 23. Negative Effects Of Rejection INTRODUCTION: According to Downey and Feldman (1996), the basic need to belong, the desire to achieve acceptance and to avoid rejection is widely acknowledged to be a powerful motivational drive. Social rejection occurs when an individual is deliberately excluded from a social relationship or social interaction for social rather than practical reasons. A person can be rejected on an individual basis or by an entire group of people. For example it can be missing an invitation to a friend s party, a refusal of a job opportunity, the end of a romantic relationship, or the reluctance of a stranger to talk to you etc. Further, rejection can be active, bullying, teasing or ridiculing, or passive, ignoring a person or giving silent treatment . The experience of being rejected is subjective for the recipient, and it can be perceived when it is not actually present. However, one s perspective on experiencing rejection and the interpretation of the experience rejection vary to a great degree. Now, children as well as the teachers get out for some much needed relaxation. So why do we still follow the same schedule? It seems every school year the discussion of year round education captures the attention of the general public. Is it time for year round education (YRE) to be the new norm? Ultimately, there are not that many pros for year round schooling to be the new thing and the traditional 180 day schedule should be kept. Many schools across the America have tried implementing year round education. However, some school districts that tried YRE go back to the 180 day schedule (Sardo Brown, Deborah, and Michael Rooney 1). When year round education is proposed most of the time opposition is met. In 1992, parents of a possible pilot school were surveyed on their thoughts. 59% of the parents responded. There was an overwhelming amount of rejection. Just 10% of those surveyed favored YRE where 83% were against (Sardo Brown, Deborah, and Michael Rooney 1). So why is there such opposition for year round school? The concerns seem to arise with the idea of taking away summer vacation. Most cite that both the students and the teachers need a break from school. When I used to live in Illinois I didn t really struggle a lot in math till I got into the fourth grade. It always took me a while to understand things and I wasn t engaged in math so I always got distracted. Also i thought about other things that were not related to the teachers lessons. I always lacked confidence in myself because I always failed at doing something when it came to math. I never believed in myself and I could never see myself exceeding in math in the future.
