Crime As A Social Problem Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of crime as a social problem can be a challenging task that demands
a comprehensive understanding of various facets of society. The complexity arises from the need
to analyze the multifaceted nature of crime, its root causes, and the societal implications it poses.
Crafting a well-structured essay requires in-depth research, critical thinking, and the ability to
synthesize information from various sources.
Exploring crime as a social problem involves delving into sociological theories, historical
perspectives, and current statistical data. It requires examining the interconnectedness between
crime and social structures, such as poverty, inequality, and systemic issues. Moreover, one must
consider the role of institutions, law enforcement, and policies in addressing and perpetuating
criminal behavior.
Expressing these ideas coherently in an essay necessitates careful planning and organization.
Writers must establish a clear thesis statement, provide a logical progression of arguments, and
support their claims with credible evidence. Balancing the academic tone with engaging content
adds another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, addressing the ethical dimensions of crime and its impact on individuals and
communities requires sensitivity and a nuanced approach. Writers need to navigate the fine line
between objective analysis and empathetic understanding, acknowledging the human experiences
intertwined with crime.

skills, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. It is a task that
requires careful consideration of various perspectives and a commitment to presenting a well-
rounded understanding of the topic.

Causes Of Self Determination In Africa
3.4 SELF DETERMINATION IN AFRICA
This section seeks to determine the factors responsible for the origins of self
determination accounts in Africa. Indeed, many of the concepts examined above
focussed specifically on Europe. The extent to which the conclusions derived from
the European context are applicable to the study of self determination in Africa needs,
therefore, to be further investigated. The following paragraphs present the factors
generally deemed to have been responsible for the rise of nationalism in Africa, a
process that led to the continent s eventual self determination. It reviews the legacies
of Western colonization and briefly discusses the impact of the African American
struggle for racial equality, and highlighting the roles played by Western educated
elites in the march towards national self determination.
The study of nationalism in Africa was prompted by the emergence of anti colonialism
(xxx, xxx). Indeed, various factors have been put forward to explain the emergence
of nationalism in Africa. The boundaries drawn by the colonial powers not only
indicated their respective areas of sovereignty but also delimited the territory within
which economic and social interchange would take place (xxx, xxx). The colonial
state was modeled on the modem European state which, as we saw in the earlier
sections, had slowly crystallized in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Indeed,
the modern state was to be Europe s most important and enduring legacy to

The plasma cell is the end differentiated maturation of the B lymphocyte and the
producer of immunoglobulins. Multiple myeloma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia
/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL), another B cell neoplasm, both commonly
develop hypogammaglobulinemia. This antibody deficiency leads to infections by
encapsulated organisms such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, as in this case, rather
than viruses and fungi. The respiratory system is the major site of infection. While
the 23 valent pneumococcal vaccine is given to these patients, there is no evidence
that it prolongs survival. Intravenous immunoglobulin infusion has been helpful in
septic patients, but antibiotics are the mainstay of
Family And The Language Institute
Family
Betty and I are from the same town, same city. We met at the language institute, she
was 16 and I was 18, but we didn t know each other before that. Even though our
families were living about a mile apart; we didn t know each other. Our families
knew each other, but not us. Betty went to a girls school, I went to a boys school,
so we didn t meet until we went to the institute. We were good friends for a year,
we had different friends in the school. Then things kind of got in such a way that
we started going out and became serious. That year we played matchmakers for
other friends! Betty had a friend that was crazy about me and I had a friend that
was interested in one of her cousins. So we did the matchmaking. We dated for
seven years before we were able to get married. We couldn t get married over in
Argentina because she was going to school and I was going to school, so we were
not going to live with our parents. That was not an option. On December 30th it
will be 44 years since we got married, almost 51 since we met. We met in 1964, in
1955 we started dating and got married in 1971. It was the English that got us
together. It was in our destiny that we were going to be here in the States speaking
the language.

Where to Find Free Images on the Web: Photo Stocks, Databases, and Newsletters
A blog is a staple of any successful online store in today s world, as it often provides
colourful imagery to help support content. This captivates casual browsers of a
website, and can help translate a blog reader not only into a customer, but a
follower of your brand. The question is, where or how can you obtain visuals for your
blog? While some have the resources to take their own photographs or create
original illustrations, a majority of images come downloaded straight from the
internet. However, while the latter may seem like the most efficient option, it is
crucial that the images used by any blog have been granted a license to do so. In
this article we will tell you how to obtain just that in an easy, and free way!
Popular Photo Sources
There are a wide assortment of photo hosting platforms that can be found via search
engines. Using the following suggestions, you will be able to find any type of
visual you seek. However, make sure to write your search in English, as you will get
far more results that are precise than when using any other language.
Google Search
When using the image search function on Google, you can specify the type of
license for the image you want using the following key phrases; e.g., allowed to use
and modify; allowed to reuse; allowed to use and modify for non commercial
purposes; allowed to reuse for non commercial purposes.

The Evangelist Movement Analysis
In the video first image of the evangelist holding the sign which said we re right
struck a chord with me. I remember being in downtown Chicago and hearing and
seeing people preaching on the street corners. Jesus is coming back! Get right!
Sometimes speaking through megaphones. Most people including myself walked by
them, ignored them only hearing only a few words of what was being said. I felt like
I was being shouted at. I also like the video described a variety of evangelists from
Baker to Dollar. They were are good examples of why some people might view
evangelist in a dim light.
I had never thought about evangelism viewing someone as a target . However, when
I think back to the Baptist church I recall mother s of way ward children or wives
who had unsaved husband asking the church to target their loved one in prayer. They
wanted their loved one to accept Christ and become a member of the church.
Regarding the readings the one regarding grace resonated with me much more than
the pluralism point of view. I like grace in it s most simplest form. Growing up
Baptist I viewed grace as something granted to me I did not deserve. Who does not

I would like to think none, but preachers and theologians compare and contrast.
Just like early Christians had a difficult time converting others to their view so did
Wesley. In the article page 85, they preached grace apart from law, justification
without sanctification . Some people do not want to hear about commands. This is
one of the issues with Wesley s grace. The Wesley/Methodist approach to grace
means you are not going to stay how you are. You are expected to grow in the
things of God. The church might meet you right where you are, but you are expected
to take next steps. Some Christians are not happy with change or growth. Some see it
as too much work, especially with everything else they have in their life, work, kids,

John Paston Rebirth
There was no Renaissance in England during the 1300 s to the 1500 s. England at
this time was more rural and lacked the artistic or classical resurgence that is
Renaissance is often defined by. Most of its economy was based in agriculture or
the textile industries and had a notable economic growth spurt due to the massive
loss in population from the plague. The plague and its effects contradict the basic
rebirth idea of the Renaissance by being the literal opposite of a rebirth and having
the economic growth start from a massive death toll. England was mainly rural
during this period, with only a few pockets of urbanization in the Southern parts of
the country. Since there was a lot of countryside, agriculture was the most popular
occupation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The price of goods went down and the standard of living went up. Since agriculture
was the biggest occupation, it affected a large portion of the English population.
However, this economic growth came at the price of large masses of people
dying. Clearly an age which relies for its prosperity upon large numbers of its
members dying at an early age, and suffering the frequent loss of spouses, children,
relatives, friends and colleagues is somewhat less than golden, (Aberth, 70). Even
the economic prosperity came from the opposite of what the Renaissance implies
because the catalyst was death instead of rebirth . England did not have a
Renaissance or a rebirth during the 1300 s to the 1500 s. Instead, England was fairly
typical with having most of its population in rural areas and being rooted in
agriculture and textiles. Even for those not in the agriculture and textile industries,
other aspects associated with the Renaissance, such as the resurgence of classical
education, hardly touched the English. They also suffered a major loss in their
population because of the plague, which helped to caused economic growth but only
due to immense
Comparing God And God In Greek Mythology
I had taken a particular liking to Greek mythology when I read a certain book
series. I knew very well about god at the time so despite me liking Greek mythology,
actually believing it never crossed my mind. I will explain the overall difference
between Gods sovereignty and that of Greek fatalism.
If you so happen to be a Christian that knows about Greek mythology, then one thing
stands out the most; there is only one god in Christianity besides there are several
gods in Greek mythology. Zeus (the highest and most powerful god) created all
gods in Greek mythology, as in our god that has been here since the beginning of
time. Zeus is not a loving god. Zeus is more of a figure that plays with puppets in
this huge play room, he s more of an image of power and greatness that wished to
be worshiped at all times. Our God is a loving God that created everything and
controls everything. He has an image of power and love though has a personal
relationship with his followers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He can produce lightning bolts and alter the weather. Unlike God, Zeus has
weaknesses which basically means he could be defeated. Zeus s two brothers
Poseidon and Hades are also the most powerful gods among most other gods. All
of these gods can sometimes have children called demigods which is a being that
is half God half Man. God only has one child, Jesus. Since Zeus could be defeated,
he is not as almighty and powerful as God. God granted us the ability of free will
while as Zeus and all other Gods can manipulate, control and destroy its people at
will. When you die you would go the three realms, with God there is only heaven or
Ford Pinto Ethics Essay
Ford Pinto Case: The Invisible Corporate Human Pricetag
In this essay, I will argue that Ford Motor Company s business behavior was
unethical as demonstrated in the Ford Pinto Case. Ford did not reveal all the facts
to consumers about a harmful gas tank design in the Ford Pinto. They tried to
justify their decision to sell an unsafe car by using a Cost Benefit Analysis which
determined it was cheaper to sell the cars without changing to a safer gas tank. The
price of not fixing the gas tanks is human injuries and fatalities. By choosing not to
make the Pinto a safer vehicle Ford placed a price on the head of every consumer.
Ford s primary concern was to maximize profits. Ford had a duty and ethical
responsibility to customers to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pinto was not to weigh an ounce over 2,000 pounds and not to cost a cent over
2,000. Iacocca enforced these limits with an iron hand, Lee Iacocca was known for
saying Safety doesn t sell . The Pinto was released for sale with the flawed design.
There are a few concerns about harmful behavior of the FMC that should be
discussed. A behavior is harmful when it wrongfully sets back the interest of
others and has a high risk of harm. Obviously, the gravity of harm in this case is
very high being that it is life threatening. Once a consumer has purchased the Pinto
and drives it off the lot he is at risk to getting rear ended, and burned to death by a
car fire or explosion. Since the weight of this harm is very severe, the low
probability of the consumer having an accident doesn t discount Ford s unethical
behavior. Indeed, driving a Ford Pinto would place a consumer s life at risk. Also at
stake are the interests of Pinto passengers and drivers of other vehicles who
certainly are not willing to risk their lives so Ford can make an extra buck. Everyone
has an interest in not getting injured or killed. Setting back the interest of consumers
isn t the only thing Ford Motor Company was responsible for.
Indubitably, the company wronged the consumers and passengers by violating their
rights to not be killed in a car fire and their right to minimal health

Inuits hunted for their food. The Hadia hunted their food too. So do the Sioux s.
They also all have some cold and warm weather. The Inuits have snow and some

Hotel California Poetic Devices
In the Eagles song, Hotel California, the speaker describes their freedom in
California before coming across this hotel with beautiful women. Unfortunately for
him, everything was not as it seems. The song is very light and cheerful in the
beginning, hinting at themes of innocence. Although later in the song, the hotel takes
on a slightly darker look as the speaker discovers its real purpose. In the song, Hotel
California, the use of poetic devices to describe its themes of innocence and desire
become prevalent. The use of metaphors show how the incoming insanity has seeped
into the hotel through the song s theme of desire, whereas the imagery shows the
speakers depth of innocence in the beginning of the song. The poetic devices used

The metaphors used in the song show this. In line twenty seven, Her mind is
Tiffany twisted, [...]. This metaphor means that the woman is obsessed with desire
for wealth; referring to her being twisted by Tiffany and Co. which is a posh
jewelry company. This metaphor s meaning is important because its points back to
theme of desire in which she is consumed by desire for wealth. In line fifty four,
And she said, We are all prisoners here, of our own device. This metaphor is
straight forward as in the women staying at the hotel are prisoners to their wealth
and desire. This metaphor is also another example of theme of desire. The song
itself is also a metaphor. The Hotel California is not place, but it represents the
California lifestyle and Hollywood industry with its desire for riches and innocence
when first arriving there. The pun on line twenty eight again represents the theme
of desire. On line twenty eight, Mercedes bends. This clever pun could be seen as a
misspelling, but it s not. This pun means that the woman gets the bends (a type
scuba diving sickness from surfacing too fast) from her Mercedes Benz which
means her world view is distorted by her greed for wealth. When the speaker first
arrives at the

party to limit the freedom of speech and expression so that there are no words and

created a fictitious figure known as Emmanuel Goldstein to direct the hatred of
Oceana s populace. They even directed the hatred of citizens to enemies of war,
either the Eurasians or East Asians depending on what the party said at the time.
The party would declare that Oceania was at war with Eurasia and allied with

This is confirmed by the observation by (Ferrari and Beck, 1998) that over 70% of
college students engaged in frequent academic procrastination, most commonly with
writing term papers. Procrastination is probably the single most common time
management problem (Learning Common Fastfacts Series, 2004). One basic thing
about procrastination is that everyone procrastinates to some extent. However, some
reasons can be put forward why university students rank highly among those mostly
vulnerable to procrastination (Learning Commons Fastfacts Series, 2004). The
reasons according to this group are: (i) there is always a tremendous amount of work
to do. Regardless of how much time the students spend studying, it can seem
impossible to get finished; (ii) for most students, only a few hours each day are spent
in class and labs. The majority of time is unstructured, and students are responsible for
deciding what to do and when to do it; and (iii) in the university environment,
particularly in residence, there is usually something more enjoyable to do than
studying. Many activities compete for a limited number of hours in a week, and
studying is often pushed to the bottom of the list. It also recognized that many
mathematics students refer to the subjects as being difficult. And the (Learning

Deterring Juvenile Criminal Activity Essay
Deterring Juvenile Criminal Activity
Arresting juvenile shoplifters can help deter future criminal activity.
Despite millions of dollars spent by retailers each year on surveillance and
enforcement devices to deter theft, shoplifting continues to be a major crime problem.
Store security personnel detect as many as two million shoplifting cases per year, but
many are not reported to the police. And of the almost 400,000 shoplifters detained
and turned over to the police annually, the vast majority are not arrested partly
because shoplifters often are not tried and sentenced.
A store s shoplifting policy is influenced largely by the cost of following an arrest
through prosecution. Many stores are wary about the civil liability ... Show more

FINDINGS
Shoplifting was not confined to specific gender, race, age, or social class. The typical
shoplifter was, however, disproportionately young and female. Because they were
young, they tended to be unmarried, unemployed, and less educated. As a group, they
did not have extensive criminal records.
Researchers found that the shoplifters who were arrested were neither more nor less
likely as a group to commit future shoplifting offenses than were those who had been
detained by store security personnel and released. The arrest rate for both groups
over the six month period was about 10 percent.
But arrest did have a significant deterrent effect on one important group juveniles. Of
the 253 juveniles apprehended and turned over to the police for arrest, only four
percent were rearrested for crimes other than shoplifting during the following six
months. Of the 315 not turned over to the police, 10 percent were rearrested for
crimes other than shoplifting.
These findings challenge traditional assumptions that young people are more likely
to repeat their criminal behavior than older people. In fact, the findings suggest that
shoplifters under the age of 17 who are arrested are less than half as likely to repeat
their behavior as those over age 17.
IMPLICATIONS
The findings illustrate only what worked for stores in a certain jurisdiction. Adult
shoplifters arrested by the police in this particular jurisdiction were not likely to be
prosecuted, convicted,

Essay On The Coldest Winter Ever
I have read the book The Coldest Winter Ever, by Sistah Souljah and I find the plot
of the book intriguing and life like because I actually do feel like I am the main
character in this book. I relate to the main character Winter because we are the same
age and we have experienced similar things. In one part of the book, Winter Santiaga
had to explain to us how being in a familywith drug dealers is hard to deal with. She
explains to us how her father, Ricky Santiaga spoiled her, her mom and her little
sisters. I can relate to that part because that s how my family was. Some of the
things that were mentioned in this book were adult like and had an adult tone and
that had caught my eye. All of the things she had to go through in this book made me

father to the system. She had lost her sisters to foster care and then she had to go to

Religion In Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was one of the most ambiguous authors of her time. Her poetry
remains a mystery to so many readers and her lack of biographical information
makes her writing even more intriguing. Dickinson spent most of her life away from
society, therefore, very few people knew how she viewed the aspects of life, let alone
knew what her writing meant. Her interpretations of concepts such as religion, nature,
and death are often seen as contradicting and pinning one specific thesis on her views
is difficult because she viewed many things with complexity. Among her poems,
readers see a diversity in her perspectives. For example, she might write one poem
about the beauties of nature and continue to write another poem about the dangers or

Similar ambivalent themes are seen in Dickinson s views of death. Death is
primarily seen in a negative light and she supports that perspective in I heard a Fly
buzz when I died When Dickinson starts this poem, the reader senses a feeling of
control from the narrator. The narrator is ready for death and accepting it; she
writes I willed my keepsakes Signed away/ What portion of me be/ Assignable and
the audience sees her willingness to go. However, There interposed a Fly and this
fly s interruption created a change in tone. The narrator felt the windows fail and
this could be seen as a metaphor for losing her spot in heaven. This poem makes
death seem almost scary and one could assume that Dickinson views death this way.
Contrarily, in I like a look of Agony she portrays death as a serene, authentic
concept. The narrator says there is no faking death and that s what they most
appreciate of death. Dickinson creates a relaxing tone associated with death and upon
reading this certain poem, a reader may assume she views death as calm and genuine.
Emily Dickinson also wrote plenty about nature, seeing as she was constantly around
it rather than actual humans. Her views of nature vary from optimistic and
intoxicating to frightening and threatening. In her poem There s a certain Slant of
light , she carries a holy and amazed mood throughout it. Using words like Heavenly
and Cathedral support the holiness in the text. The narrator is amazed at the

Module 1 Case Assignment
Introduction
Upon deciding to go public, a company looks into preparing an initial public
offering (IPO). There are two IPOs with which a company can utilize: a traditional
IPO or the relatively new Auction based IPO that was made popular by Google.
Avaya is currently planning for IPO. Avaya is a global leader in business
communications systems. The company provides unified communications, contact
centers, data solutions and related services directly and through its channel partners
to leading businesses and organizations around the world (Avaya.com, 2011). Avaya

Once this process has finished, the investment bank is paid a percentage of the sale
as commission as well as fees for the underwriting process. Due to the discount of
the IPO from the estimate of the market value, traditional IPOs normally trade
much higher than the initial price (Clinton, 2011). Being a long used and well
known process, traditional IPOs allow for more choices of underwriters. Using an
investment bank with experience in traditional IPOs allows for the road show to
give the high profile investors a greater idea of the value of the company, and since
the allocation of shares is done during this process they can avoid over valuing the
company. Nayantara Hensel writes that underwriters who do less than three IPOs
a year will average a first day price increase of 10%. On the other hand Hensel also
tells us that the average first day price increase for all traditional IPOs is 38%,
meaning a loss in the potential capitol for the company. The investment bank
underwriting for a traditional IPO normally gets a 7% underwriting fee of the amount
earned or more, bringing the potential money lost to 45 50%.
Auction Based IPO An auction based IPO uses the Internet to open a company s IPO
stock for purchase to more potential investors. This process allows a company to
spend less on their underwrite fees. The company
The Causes Of The Witch Craze In The 15th Century
A woman was once looked upon as a healer, ancient persist, mid wife, therapist,
cook, sever of goddess, a positive figure, etc. As time went on, women were not seen
as they were originally portrayed. Women were eventually viewed as a witch. Each
culture had a different perception on what a witch looked like, but each represented
the same thing. In essence, the witch craze brought about the dark side of a female.
Some causes of witch craze in the fifteenth century would include hallucinations,
people not wanting to be tortured and people needing something to blamemisfortune
on. Firstly, hallucinations occur as a result of the induction of hallucinogens into
the blood stream. Some people have always wondered how witches got the stigma
of being able to fly. During the witch craze, drugs were popular. With the hot topic
of witch s, people who used drugs, hallucinated witches being able to fly. When
there is a lot of pressure and tension is high around a person, some people use drugs
to find an escape. By finding an escape, people made up being able to see witches
fly or, just wanted to be known by telling others a fib to bring attention to ones self.
For those who don t use drugs, they are highly influenced by the people who do use
them, making them paranoid and susceptible to believe anything they hear. In the
1600 s, the deception was how people saw witches flying around on a broomstick.
Because drugs and witches were a popular trend, people added on to the lie of

reveals certain elements that the reader could otherwise not see. This can also be
seen in Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants . The setting for both of
these stories is revealed to the reader right at the start of the story. This begs
questions such as Why do these authors reveal the setting so early? What does this
entail? Revealing the setting of the story can contain a great deal of information
before any of the hard facts are even mentioned. For example, a vivid description of
the setting can allow the reader to see between the lines of the plane text and notice
things that they could possibly miss through their first time reading. Setting can also
help give insight to the audience by foreshadowing, giving hints to the major plot and
even showing distinct elements that could not be found elsewhere. While some short

High School, Collegiate, And Professional Activities
In my first essay, I took a deeply cynic position against competition. But, as discussed
by Shields, maybe I have not seen true competition. Perhaps what I have viewed in
high school, collegiate, and professional activities is actually decompetition (n.d.).
Decompetition is like competition, but it primarily promotes the worst attributes in
athletics, producing a negative outcome (Shields, n.d.). Regardless, over the course
of this semester, my view of competition has been changed. I now hold a neutral
view of competition. I do not believe that all competition is innately bad but not all is
inherently good either. The gameof jacksplayed today was the most pivotal activity in
the shift of my opinion. No one in my group had ever played the game. Instead of
working individually, so one of us could triumph over the others, we worked
together to find the best strategies and methods. Every time someone threw their
handful of jacks to the floor, we analyzed them to find the best way to gather the
jacks. We moaned when someone failed to gather their jacks in time and cheered
when someone did the seemingly impossible. To us, the game was still fresh and
new; we used each other s perspectives to figure it out. During our first game, for
instance, Amanda received zero points, and I only won ten. But, by game two,
Amanda and I, through trial and error and the feedback from the others, sharpened
our skills to earn 51 and 40 points respectively. I was fairly happy with my success,

The Case Of Henry And Oni
The case study that will be discussed will be Henry and Oni. Henry is a 38 year old
born a French Canadian but primary raised in the United States. Oni is a 48 year
old was born and raised in the United States but part Nigeria and African American.
This is the first marriage of Henry but second for Oni. No first marriageonly last two
years because of her ex husband cheating. The couple is madly in love with each
other but worry about the recent fighting and sexual tension. Oni does not want to
have sex with her husband because she has recently caught him watching
pornography. Henry started watching pornography as a release of sexual starvation.
Oni confused that she felt violated when Henry tried to have sex with her during
her sleep. She describes feeling like one of those woman he watches in his videos.
The purpose of choosing this particular case study was because there was a
connection of relating to Oni feelings. Initially, the assumption was made that Oni is
feeling that her faith and trust in their marriage has been broken because of Henry s
activities because of her prior experience with her ex husband cheating. Furthermore,
the connection of Henry feeling sexual starved is understandable considering his
needs are not being met. Clinical TheoryThe clinical theory chosen for this clinical
evaluation is Solution Focused Based Theory (SFBT). SFBT would be an appropriate
theoretical approach to take with this couple to formulate solutions and
Geographic Information Systems (Gis)
The term Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a term used to refer to a system
installed in a computer capable of manipulating, assembling, displaying and storing
information that has been geographically referenced. Large volumes of data are
mapped, analyzed and modeled using a single database depending on their locations.
In short, the software gives one power to create maps. Information such latitudes,
longitudes, elevations and ZIP codes are fed into the system and the results can be
used to determine whether and climate patterns of different regions (Global
Geographic Information Systems, 2007). Different organizations use GIS generated
data to seek information regarding specific areas of interest they are interested in....

For instance, marketers may use the tool to map demographic information by
displaying and analyzing data. The system is often used for market analysis tool
and it is best beneficial to companies and organizations that cover a large
geographical area and have many workers. GIS is used for general statistical
analyses and its geo coding component is also an important aspect. The GIS is
designed to improve application for all users and its reliability is an attractive
component. Establishing a GIS Model As attractive as the benefits of GIS may
look to an organization, there are a variety of factors that need to be considered
before this is done. Before the system is made, the number of users, GIS data base
and application should be considered. The other key factor that comes in handy is
the size of the geographical area. To add on this, the degree and frequency of use
for each system also varies with its integration into the system. Before setting up a
GIS system, one has to consider its functionality. If a system can run efficiently and
effectively without this system, then it might be of no use incorporating this system
(Somers 1998). The other point to note is the complexity of the GIS in use. The
more complex a system is the more resources it handles at a time. Complex
structures are often associated with complex and large organizations that require a
lot of data feeding and have a lot of resources. For one to ascertain how they want
their system to
The Gold Rush In California
The gold rush helped California industrialize. It is well known that
industrialization in America started in the east. However, the gold rush was the
reason why California industrialized much faster than the east. With the
technological improvements, that the gold rush demands it helped California
industrialize much faster. James Marshall first discovered gold on January 24
1848 on the south fork of the American river. A not so well know part of California
history is that James Marshall was not the first person to discover gold in
California. Francisco Lopez was the first documented gold rush in California. It is
less know because right after Lopez had discovered gold the war between Mexico
and US had begun. Moreover, like everyone knows Mexico lost and lost California
and other territory to the US. After James Marshall had found gold and after
everyone had started to hear the news, few people started rushing to the minefields.
The gold rush fever had not started yet because many people were hesitant. It wasn t
until president, President Polk at that time, confirmed that there really was gold
found in California after the announcement by Polk was heard. Massive amount of
people from all over the world rushed to California. States were not the first to hear
about the news. Actually, people in Hawaii were the first to find out. As trading
ships were leaving the San Francisco port on their trips across the pacific. Was when
the Hawaii found out about the news? When the states
Man s Duty In The Epic Of Beowulf
In the days of the vikings, many stories were told. They were told in a song like
fashion, and were recited to young warriors and children. The most famous of these
was the epic poem Beowulf . It is a tale of a young hero named Beowulf, who goes
to a distant land to help the weak. He is known for having the strength of ten men,
and chooses to fight the first monster he encounters, Grendel, with his bare hands.
After Grendel was defeated, the mother of Grendel attacks, but he has to go into her
territory to fight. He almost dies, but completely slays both Grendel and his mother.
His last monster finally kills the great hero. This time it was a dragon, terrorizing his
kingdom, because one of his people felt greedy and stole some treasure from... Show

Everyone enjoys the feeling of being looked up to and being well respected, and
the Anglo Saxon warriors are much the same. This is shown by how confident
Beowulf acts upon his warm greeting when he returned to fight Grendel s mother.
He also wanted to die glorious, as to why he went and fought the dragon himself,
rather than letting his army take care of it. This new found glory is partnered by
becoming a role model, which is what he always wanted. Being a role model in an
Anglo Saxon community, is the ultimate goal of any warrior. Beowulf, being the
top warrior of his land, is of no excuse. In fact, this whole poem was recited since
those times to guide people to becoming a great adult within this culture. For
instance, in his first encounter with evil, he acts confident for the people watching to
be a role model. In his second encounter, he shows to prepare for battle as the young
people watch. Lastly, in his final moments, he states that he wants a lighthouse built
in his honor, so he can always be followed, and continue being a
Achebe
Achebe s Defense of The Ibo People in Things Fall Apart
Option 1
The late Chinua Achebe is considered to be one of the most important voices in
African literature. Born in colonial Nigeria in the 1930 s, Achebe joined the first
wave of African writers who were determined to represent their country in a way
that would truthfully depict the past and present. Before the arrival of the first
wave writers, the history of pre colonial Africa was portrayed as a place of
barbarous activity. European novelists such as Joseph Conrad only added to this
impression in his dehumanizing book, The Heart of Darkness. Conrad depicted
Africa as the antithesis of civilization. In 1958, Achebe published Things Fall Apart

Each type of orature not only preserved the past for the Ibo people it was also their
way of educating the young. The belief that African s were uneducated before the
entrance of the Colonial era was another myth that needed to be resolved. Their
way of education through the use of orature was a practice that wholly fulfilled the
needs of those who lived in the village. It was the arrival of Colonial power that
changed the definition of what true education really was. Of course, Achebe saw
the arrival of Western education as a positive thing. It would enable his people to
eventually take control of their country again. He echoed this thinking when the
missionary, Mr. Brown who came to live with the Ibo people, begged and argued
and prophesized. He said that the leaders of the land in the future would be men
and women who had learned to read and write. If Umuofia failed to send her
children to school, strangers would come from other places to rule them (Things
Fall Apart 181). Achebe was one of those future men which he wrote about. It was
because of his Western education that he was able to write Things Fall Apart, which
was written to to help my society regain belief in itself and put away the complexes
of the years of degradation and self abasement (Morning Yet On Creation Day 71).
The second topic that Achebe highlighted in Things Fall Apart was the Ibo s style of
Shamans Role In Religion
The Shamans have a very powerful believe in creation. It is very important as a
religious director to protect the earth. Shaman s personal has a very important role
in getting his flock closer to the creator. Their role is just like a pastor at the church,
the pastor takes care of his people by gathering them around and making them feel
comfortable. In my opinion, all the religious specialists have a big role in helping
their communities in reaching a stable and a spiritual life. Shaman is no difference
than other directors, the gathering that they do during hunting is their spiritual ritual.
Praying for healing is something appreciative by others, just like now days at
churches and other religious places. Teaching the people how
The Word Perseverance Is Necessary For The Lack Of...
Everyday, people struggle to get through simple tasks due to the lack of
perseverance. Merriam Webster s dictionary definition for the word perseverance
is a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or
opposition. In terms of usage, perseverance is used as a noun that comes from Latin
origin with per meaning through, and severus meaning sever. Synonyms of the
word consist of persist or to carry on, while antonyms are to give up or to quit.
Perseverance is an important trait due to the fact that without it, nothing will get
achieved. As soon as you run into trouble you will show weakness and just give up.

A second example from Temple Grandin would be when she could not figure out
how to build a model of a distorted house. Temple tried many different designs and
failed many different times. But that is how she got her results. Trial and error
states that you need to fail before you can succeed. That is how her life was and
how ours should be. Temple came across hurdles but she leaped over the top of
them all because eventually with enough time and effort, she succeeded. She thrived
in the face of adversity by continuing to try them over and over again. At this rate
nothing could stop her. She used the haters and motivation and fuel to keep the fire
inside her heart burning. They all doubted her and said she would never accomplish
anything, she ended up proving them all wrong. Now just as Temple Grandin was an
inspiration to us all, so is another woman named Melba Pattillo Beals. Melba was one
of the first nine african american students to integrate an all white school. So as
you can imagine, the citizens and parents of the Little Rock High School were not
happy about the integration. A quote on page 167 from the book, Warriors Don t
Cry says, The boys were brash and bold, behaving as if they feared no
consequences. This quote shows how terribly treated Melba was. She was cussed at,
physically abused, burned, spit on, and just broken down to the bone. But she didn t
let it get to her. It shows the author s purpose because Melba would not show
weakness.

I am going to say this article is a quantitative research study, because based on the
definition by the textbook quantitative research uses measurement and the review
of collected data (Fain, 2017). This research article was a study that is based on
the study of a specific number of people and has reviewed the outcomes of those
patients and the information collected from those patients to form the data they are
reporting in the article. The design of this study I would say is observational as the
research was gathered after studying the patients in the hospital setting, even though
no on site studying was completed. After reading the article data was collected from
the participants of the study such as risk for cardiac arrest, cardiac rhythm that lead
to the arrest and vitals (Dankiewicz, Schmidbauer, Nielsen 2014) . . After reading
the chapter on data collection methods it seems to me that this study used
biophysical measures in an after the fact method, because patient vital sign and other
physiological data was collected from patient charts and EMS records (Fain, 2017).
The sample size for this study was 663 patients from 46 different critical units from

The Morality Of Same Sex Marriage
The morality of same sex marriage is a major controversial issue in the United
States today. While Liberals believe that marriage should be the union of two
people who love each other and that it should be legal for gay and lesbian
individuals in order to ensure equal rights for all citizens, Conservatives believe that
marriage is the union of one woman and one man only and that requiring citizens to
sanction same sex relationships violates moral and religious beliefs. Taking
opposing viewpoints of this issue are both philosophers David Boonin and Jeff

that discrimination against homosexuals removes individual freedom as it ignores

majority of society accepts viewing heterosexual behavior in public, but are
uncomfortable with viewing public homosexual acts.
To set up his argument in support of the Difference Thesis, Jordan creates a
scenario in which one person believes that subject X is morally wrong but another
person believes it is morally permissible, calling this conflict an impasse (Jordan 42).

Black Liberation Theology Essay
Black Liberation Theology can be defined as the relationship that blacks have with
god in their struggle to end oppression. It sees god as a god of history and the
liberator of the oppressed from bondage. Black Liberation theology views God and
Christianity as a gospel relevant to blacks who struggle daily under the oppression of
whites. Because of slavery, blacks concept of Godwas totally different from the
masters who enslaved them. White Christians saw god as more of a spiritual
savior, the reflection of God for blacks came in the struggle for freedom by blacks.
Although the term black liberation theology is a fairly new, becoming popular in
the early 1960 s with Black Theology and Black Power, a book written by James H.

While black power focuses on the political, social, and economic condition of black
people, Black Theology sees black identity from a theological context. Much of
black liberation theology s foundation comes from God s deliverance of Israel
from oppression under the Egyptians. According to James Cone, the consistent
theme in Israelite prophecy is Yahweh s concern for the lack of social, economic,
and political justice for those who are poor and unwanted in the society. # The
dominate view of Black Liberation theologists is God in action, delivering the
oppressed because of His righteousness. He is to be seen, not in the transcendent
way of Greek philosophy, but immanent, among His people. God is immanent
because he is present in many historical moments that focus on liberation of the
poor. Its derives it beliefs from the fact that in the bible, God often enters human
affairs and takes the side of the oppressed, that god is heavily worshipped where
human beings experience humiliation and suffering. Because of these beliefs,
blacks adopted a gospel relevant to the uplifting of blacks and ending black
struggle under white oppression.# Black theology places both our past and present
actions toward black liberation in a theological context, eliminating all false Gods
and creating value structures according to the God of black freedom. Black theology
can be traced back to when slavery times. During this time Christianity became the
blacks man s purpose of life,

Education Philosophy Essay
Educational Philosophy
I have an eclectic philosophy of education that I derived from a wide range of pre
existing philosophies. I identify most with the philosophies of essentialism and
perennialism. In my opinion, students should have a strong foundation in the core
curriculum areas of English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. After all,
house built on a weak foundation will not stand. I also prefer the perennialist s
approach of studying the classics like Homer, Shakespeare, Milton etc. Everything in
the present is a product of the past, for this reason I feel like the great works of the
past still have relevance today.

Furthermore, this seating arrangement benefits those students that are in the back
of the class that often having difficulty hearing or seeing what s going on. It is
more convenient for students to make the transition from individual work to group
work because they re already in groups. In regards to individual work or testing
where cheating may be a concern, I will have the students put up two folders as
blinders. The students will stand two folders up at ninety degree angles so that it
makes a little cubicle around them. As for bulletin, I plan to let the students be
involved in the bulletin boards so they feel they have ownership in the class. In
other words, since they don t have control over how the class is run I will give
them a reasonable amount of control over the bulletin boards. That way the kids
have a chance to express themselves as creative individuals. I look at this as almost
an existentialist approach to bulletin boards. I plan to keep a very organized and
structured classroom. I will keep the computers in an appropriate location, possibly
against an unused wall. I will keep my supplemental materials put up in a closet or
cabinet. At the beginning of each year I will seat the class alphabetically. This is a
good idea because it would reduce the number of social cliques. By allowing the
students to choose their own groups, it would cause cliques to form and
Homelessness Is An Arising Problem Within The United
States
Homelessness in America
SOC331: Social Justice and Ethics
Professor Ashraf Esmail
Rebecca McRunnel
March 8, 2015
Homelessness is an arising problem within the United States. Poverty and
homelessness are inheritably linked. As children we were raised to believe that
through hard work and determination that we could accomplish anything. We all
had dreams of having nice cars, a nice home and lots of money, however this is
impossible when a person is living pay check to pay check and close to being
homeless. Knowing that we live in the land of opportunity brings many dreams to
anyone s mind, however, many families are experiencing financial issues that are
causing them to become homeless because they cannot afford to live and pay their
bills, food, child care, health care and education (National Coalition of the homeless,
2007). Homelessness in America is persistent, complex and widely occurring
problem that incorporates many economic, social and psychological dimensions
(National Coalition of the homeless, 2007). With the shortage of affordable rental
property is causing the increasing number of poverty families. Homelessness doesn t
only affect an adult but it does affect many children. In America, 3.5 million
Americans are homeless each year. However, of these Americans that are homeless
children make up more than 1 million people who are homeless (Home Aid America ,
n.d.). With children and many families that are homeless, veterans, and domestic
Early Childhood And Child Development
After reading chapter 6 of the textbook, I have realized that children early years are
severely important because they provide the foundation for the rest of their life, as
adolescent, and as adult. Children that are well nurtured can live well and be
sociable. Early childhood is the most rapid period of development in a human life. A
child creates their own sense of identity. Indeed, it is important for a child to have a
sense of identity. Although individual children develop at their pace, all children
progress through an identifiable sequence of physical, cognitive, and emotional
growth and change. The early child developmentapproach is based on that children
respond best when caregivers use specific techniques designed to encourage and
stimulate progress to the next level of development. Early childhoodis the time during
which essential, intellectual, and emotional abilities form. Keeping young children
safe and nurturing them is protective against lifelong problems. Including the risk of
becoming involved in violence. Early experiences affect the brain development,
shaping the brains physical growth and sculpting neural connections. This occurs
primarily between birth and school age years. Besides, the family, community and
society are powerful in shaping young children s development. They grow at a very
rapid rate during the first one and a half years of life. Their development is not only
physical, it is also mental, emotionally, and social. These developments are
Traditional Terrorists
Terrorists
When I think of the word terrorism, the first thing that pops into my mind is 9/11. A
day I will never forget, as I am sure countless other Americans will not as well. I
never took the time to truly think about a terrorist, what they are thinking, what their
motives are, or whom they are trying to hurt or even why they are terrorist. In doing
this research, I have acquired knowledge about not only the traditional terrorist but
also the cyberterrorist. In some ways these criminals are similar, and the reasons
behinds their actions sometimes overlap, yet they also are different. Although some
people, including myself, could get the two of them confused, they are not the same.
In looking at both a traditional terrorist and a cyberterrorist, a clear definition is not
universal which could account for the reason that some people get them confused or
overlap them. Once cyberterrorism terms are determinable, we would have a clear
view on how to deal with such malicious acts. The only way to avoid that ... Show

The traditional terrorist had to find their followers or incite them to follow them by
means of printed literature. Cyberterrorist hide behind a computer screen, this group
can cause extreme damage to our computer infrastructure without moving out of one
place. Traditional terrorists are out in the physical world, although they may use the
Internet to help commit or assist with the crime, they physically do the damage.
Cyberterrorist destroy their targets as well, they just do through the Internet. One
primary difference between a cyberterrorist and a traditional terrorist is that the
former would have a sophisticated knowledge of hacking and information
technology vulnerabilities or would have the funds to employ people skilled in those
areas (Poremba, 2011). Cyberterrorist are smart individuals, they have the knowledge
or training to be a master at destroying any infrastructure with a few key
Essay On Of Plymouth Plantation
Although both A Description of New England and Of Plymouth Plantation are
both significant accounts of New England s history, John Smith s and William
Bradford s backgrounds and views of religion differ drastically from each other,
and these differences are seen through the entirety of both histories. While John
Smith makes reference to God only once in A Description of New England in order
to motivate the religious supporters of the time to travel to the New World, Smith s
motivation for writing A Description of New England was not to promote God s
providence in this New World; however, William Bradford s Of Plymouth Plantation
is filled with allusions to the Bible and is told from a perspective that points to his
faith in God and his Pilgrim beliefs. With the oppression and religious persecution
taking place in England during that time, John Smith presents... Show more content

Throughout Of Plymouth Plantation, one can see William Bradford and the
Pilgrims strong faith in God, even during the difficult times, because they believed
themselves to be God s Chosen People in a hideous and desolate wilderness
(Bradford 133); because this strong faith is shown throughout Bradford s account, it
causes the Pilgrims history to clash with John Smith s account of the New World.
Although John Smith makes a fleeting reference to God s blessing in this New
World in A Description of New England, he manages to entice the European world
with stories of riches and adventure this new and exciting place. Because of the
conflicting nature of the two histories, one realizes that both A Description of New
England and Of Plymouth Plantation are inaccurate perceptions of the New World;
however, these biased assessments of the New World from John Smith and William
Bradford indicate the religious backing from which both authors

Historical Accuracy in Equiano s Novel
Olaudah Equiano s autobiography, The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah
Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African, Written by
Himself, has become a very important piece of literature. Equiano established a new
type of literature with this novel. It was the first autobiography/slave narrative ever
written. Many other slaves, such as Fredrick Douglass, followed his example in
writing autobiographies or slave narratives. Equiano not only gives detailed
descriptions of his homeland, of which we still know little about, he also gives a
powerful account of the Middle Passage. Despite these captivating accounts, many
critics have come to question the authenticity of ... Show more content on

As all young children do, Equiano had become accustomed to his own way of living.
Although he did not have the capability to understand all of the ways of the Igbo, he
relates what he does understand and remember.
According to Katherine Slattery, the Igbo people have been researched for only the
past 50 years. Many of the sources available include
fragmentary oral traditions and correlation of cultural traits
(Slattery). It is possible that Equiano provided for much of the information that is
known about that region of the world. It has been found that from 1434 1807, there
was much trade between England and
Nigeria consisting mostly of Igbo slaves (Slattery). Equiano was very aware as a
child that there were kidnappers and assailants in search of victims to sell as slaves.
He asserts that when the adults would leave to work, the children would get
together and commonly some of us used to get up a tree to look out for any
assailant, or kidnapper that might come upon us; for they sometimes took these
opportunities of our parents absence, to attack and carry off as many as they could
seize (Equiano 24). Equiano could not have known that this is what was happening
had he not experienced it first hand.
After his kidnapping and subsequently being sold many times, Equiano experiences
the Middle Passage. He states of the slave ship, and I was now
Jeremiah, Habakkiah, And Zephaniah
Undeniably, I have learned that the very nature of prophecy had many functions;
additionally, it was by no means purposed to open the future to pointless
curiosities. On the contrary, prophesy had a much higher purpose, it was provide
direction to the people; to show compassion, hope, reassurance; and to impart
confidence and urgency in an era of trouble times, a period in which they were
living. Over a span of 130 to 150 year period that began in about 620 B.C.E, which
contained Jeremiah, Habakkuk, Ezekiel, Daniel, Haggai, Zechariah, and perhaps
Obadiah and Zephaniah. Their lives and service predated and spanned the most
violent age in man s history. History has demonstrated the ascent and decline of

While it is true, many of them were participants of the priestly community; the
prophets maintained their own circle and came from diverse lineages, various
professions, and both genders. They sporadically interpreted omens, however, they
were not exclusively diviners, and their information was never absolutely reliant on
the physical signs and evidence to God s aim or objectives. Instead, in text The
Hebrew Prophets and Their Social World, Victor H. Matthews states, their position
was to challenge the establishment and the social order, to remind the leadership and
the people of their obligation to the covenant with Yahweh, and to warn the people of
the punishment that would surely ensue if they violated this covenantal agreement .
Learning about prophets, accentuates the importance of teaching context and culture.
Observing context and culture demonstrates why people did and said what they did.
Whenever we preach the Gospel, it is important that we accurately teach God s Word;
otherwise the congregants will be misled and
My First Day In School
I was in the bathroom getting ready for the first day of the third trimester of 8th
grade, I was comfortably singing in my bathroom thinking I was alone. After
getting ready I opened up the door and look in the hallway flustered to see my
mom filming me singing. I was embarrassed and my cheeks turned bright red as I
ran towards the front door to jump into my shoes and catch the bus. I went to school
and it was a regular day, I had new classes and one of them was with my favorite
teacher, Mrs. Gates. I never thoughtI would build up the confidence to sing infront
of people ever but Mrs. Gates but i started to rethink that when my teacher told the
class that at the end of this week on friday we will have auditions for a solo of the
choir. I felt this uneasiness in my stomach and thought I was about to embarrass
myself by throwing up in front of the whole class. I went the whole day just
thinking about that solo. It was finally friday, days went by of me practicing for
the audition, I made everyone else go first. When I finally got the courage to walk in
front of everyone I belted out adele and everyone s jaw dropped. I didn t know if that
was a good thingso I ran back to my seat and hit behind my desk and sat far back in
my chair so I wouldn be noticed. The weekend went by and I didn t think much of
the solos because I did not think I was gonna make the top 3. I walked into Mrs.
Gates room feeling like my heart would stop any minute. The bell rang and Mrs.

Symptoms And Treatment Of A Healthy 44 Year Old
Abstract:
Pneumomediastinum is a pathologic condition characterized by the presence of air
within the mediastinum and within deep neck spaces. It can be further categorized as
spontaneous pneumomediastinum or secondary pneumomediastinum. Spontaneous
pneumomediastinum is a rare clinical entity seen without any precipitating factors.
On the other hand, secondary pneumomediastinum is due to disruption of the
aeordigestive tract, typically from previous surgery, trauma, severe retching, or
foreign body ingestion. Pneumomediastinum can be exacerbated by activities that
generate a valsalva maneuver, as in physical exertion. The treatment protocol differs
substantially between these two entities, so it is crucial that physicians differentiate
between the two by gathering the appropriate history and physical exam. We report a
case of a healthy 44 year old male who developed pneumomediastinum with moderate
head and neck subcutaneous emphysema after minimal trauma while boogie
boarding. The patient remained asymptomatic except for mild dysphonia and head
and neck swelling. An extensive PubMed search revealed several case reports of
spontaneous pneumomediastinum. This is, however, to our knowledge, one of the
few reports of moderate to severe spontaneous pneumomediastinum presenting
relatively asymptomatically. With this case report we hope to add to the current body
of literature and present an unusual presentation of spontaneous pneumomediastinum
in a healthy individual.

The Power Of Poetry
Poetry s powerful impact is incumbent upon its capacity to communicate a message
and inspire its audience to react. The power of poetry consists of three vital points:
content, impact, and relevance. Poetry is powerful; however, not every reader will
find its power in the same way, or find power in it at all. It is not that one type of
poem is inherently more powerful than another. What it is, however, is that the value
of poetrycomes from a subjective place. Some poems may sit well with one audience
but may not connect to another audience. Readers are the ones who determine
exactly which pieces of poetry are powerful. When you combine radical feminism
with amazing literary skills you obtain the astonishing powers of Adrienne Rich, a...

Although poetry may seem timeless it does not necessarily mean that this is true.
Some say that history repeats itself, however we can see this only happen to an
extent. The subject s of Shakespeare s works may not apply to most people today.
However the relevance a poem is determined by the reader themselves and their
personal experiences or those they have seen others partake in. Audre Lorde is one of
the most influential black female poets of her generation empowering people through
her words to take action on the issues that matter most to them. She began writing in
her early teens and her range of work expands from homophobia, sexism, and
social injustice. I find her work Power to be one of the most influential pieces of
writing that our class has discussed. Power is short poem about a social injustice
among the African American community. The poem, although may not be relatable
to every reader s experience, has such strong imagery that it is able to impact
everyone in some way. Lorde depicts, I am trapped on a desert of raw gunshot
wounds and a dead child dragging his shattered black face off the edge of my sleep
blood from his punctured cheeks and shoulders After reading this short stanza the
audience is placed in the narrator s shoes. Furthermore, this allows the reader to
further identify with the context and content of the

Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats.
ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF A HEALTHY DIET
Carbohydrate in the form of glucose is the main ingredient that provides the energy
and fuel during exercise. Glucose is stored in the muscles as glycogen which is
used as the body exercises to refuel. Muscles are the storage areas for the glycogen
and these need to be continually refilled as we use energy. Adequate carbohydrate is
necessary for the body during exercise as an insufficient amount may lead to fatigue
of the muscles. Some foods that contain a rich amount of carbohydrate are pasta, rice,
bread, fruits and vegetables.
Proteins are the building blocks of muscles and are one of the most essential part of
an athlete s diet. After exercise and training, proteins help to rebuild and repair the
muscle damage and replenish it. Chicken, lamb, beef and many meats are very rich
in protein and should form an important source of protein in the daily diet.
Nowadays, the most common form of protein intake is fulfilled by the numerous
protein supplements in the form of shakes, tablets and bars that have flooded the
market. According to research, these supplements help to enhance performance and
build muscle fast and help in faster recovery processes. There is a wide variety of
protein supplements in the market and one should be careful while selecting what

  • 2. Causes Of Self Determination In Africa 3.4 SELF DETERMINATION IN AFRICA This section seeks to determine the factors responsible for the origins of self determination accounts in Africa. Indeed, many of the concepts examined above focussed specifically on Europe. The extent to which the conclusions derived from the European context are applicable to the study of self determination in Africa needs, therefore, to be further investigated. The following paragraphs present the factors generally deemed to have been responsible for the rise of nationalism in Africa, a process that led to the continent s eventual self determination. It reviews the legacies of Western colonization and briefly discusses the impact of the African American struggle for racial equality, and highlighting the roles played by Western educated elites in the march towards national self determination. The study of nationalism in Africa was prompted by the emergence of anti colonialism (xxx, xxx). Indeed, various factors have been put forward to explain the emergence of nationalism in Africa. The boundaries drawn by the colonial powers not only indicated their respective areas of sovereignty but also delimited the territory within which economic and social interchange would take place (xxx, xxx). The colonial state was modeled on the modem European state which, as we saw in the earlier sections, had slowly crystallized in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Indeed, the modern state was to be Europe s most important and enduring legacy to

  • 4. Family And The Language Institute Family Betty and I are from the same town, same city. We met at the language institute, she was 16 and I was 18, but we didn t know each other before that. Even though our families were living about a mile apart; we didn t know each other. Our families knew each other, but not us. Betty went to a girls school, I went to a boys school, so we didn t meet until we went to the institute. We were good friends for a year, we had different friends in the school. Then things kind of got in such a way that we started going out and became serious. That year we played matchmakers for other friends! Betty had a friend that was crazy about me and I had a friend that was interested in one of her cousins. So we did the matchmaking. We dated for seven years before we were able to get married. We couldn t get married over in Argentina because she was going to school and I was going to school, so we were not going to live with our parents. That was not an option. On December 30th it will be 44 years since we got married, almost 51 since we met. We met in 1964, in 1955 we started dating and got married in 1971. It was the English that got us together. It was in our destiny that we were going to be here in the States speaking the language. Where to Find Free Images on the Web: Photo Stocks, Databases, and Newsletters A blog is a staple of any successful online store in today s world, as it often provides colourful imagery to help support content. This captivates casual browsers of a website, and can help translate a blog reader not only into a customer, but a follower of your brand. The question is, where or how can you obtain visuals for your blog? While some have the resources to take their own photographs or create original illustrations, a majority of images come downloaded straight from the internet. However, while the latter may seem like the most efficient option, it is crucial that the images used by any blog have been granted a license to do so. In this article we will tell you how to obtain just that in an easy, and free way! Popular Photo Sources There are a wide assortment of photo hosting platforms that can be found via search engines. Using the following suggestions, you will be able to find any type of visual you seek. However, make sure to write your search in English, as you will get far more results that are precise than when using any other language. Google Search When using the image search function on Google, you can specify the type of license for the image you want using the following key phrases; e.g., allowed to use and modify; allowed to reuse; allowed to use and modify for non commercial purposes; allowed to reuse for non commercial purposes. • 6. The Evangelist Movement Analysis In the video first image of the evangelist holding the sign which said we re right struck a chord with me. I remember being in downtown Chicago and hearing and seeing people preaching on the street corners. Jesus is coming back! Get right! Sometimes speaking through megaphones. Most people including myself walked by them, ignored them only hearing only a few words of what was being said. I felt like I was being shouted at. I also like the video described a variety of evangelists from Baker to Dollar. They were are good examples of why some people might view evangelist in a dim light. I had never thought about evangelism viewing someone as a target . However, when I think back to the Baptist church I recall mother s of way ward children or wives who had unsaved husband asking the church to target their loved one in prayer. They wanted their loved one to accept Christ and become a member of the church. Regarding the readings the one regarding grace resonated with me much more than the pluralism point of view. I like grace in it s most simplest form. Growing up Baptist I viewed grace as something granted to me I did not deserve. Who does not want a gift they do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would like to think none, but preachers and theologians compare and contrast. Just like early Christians had a difficult time converting others to their view so did Wesley. In the article page 85, they preached grace apart from law, justification without sanctification . Some people do not want to hear about commands. This is one of the issues with Wesley s grace. The Wesley/Methodist approach to grace means you are not going to stay how you are. You are expected to grow in the things of God. The church might meet you right where you are, but you are expected to take next steps. Some Christians are not happy with change or growth. Some see it as too much work, especially with everything else they have in their life, work, kids, husband
  • 7. John Paston Rebirth There was no Renaissance in England during the 1300 s to the 1500 s. England at this time was more rural and lacked the artistic or classical resurgence that is Renaissance is often defined by. Most of its economy was based in agriculture or the textile industries and had a notable economic growth spurt due to the massive loss in population from the plague. The plague and its effects contradict the basic rebirth idea of the Renaissance by being the literal opposite of a rebirth and having the economic growth start from a massive death toll. England was mainly rural during this period, with only a few pockets of urbanization in the Southern parts of the country. Since there was a lot of countryside, agriculture was the most popular occupation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The price of goods went down and the standard of living went up. Since agriculture was the biggest occupation, it affected a large portion of the English population. However, this economic growth came at the price of large masses of people dying. Clearly an age which relies for its prosperity upon large numbers of its members dying at an early age, and suffering the frequent loss of spouses, children, relatives, friends and colleagues is somewhat less than golden, (Aberth, 70). Even the economic prosperity came from the opposite of what the Renaissance implies because the catalyst was death instead of rebirth . England did not have a Renaissance or a rebirth during the 1300 s to the 1500 s. Instead, England was fairly typical with having most of its population in rural areas and being rooted in agriculture and textiles. Even for those not in the agriculture and textile industries, other aspects associated with the Renaissance, such as the resurgence of classical education, hardly touched the English. They also suffered a major loss in their population because of the plague, which helped to caused economic growth but only due to immense
  • 8. Comparing God And God In Greek Mythology I had taken a particular liking to Greek mythology when I read a certain book series. I knew very well about god at the time so despite me liking Greek mythology, actually believing it never crossed my mind. I will explain the overall difference between Gods sovereignty and that of Greek fatalism. If you so happen to be a Christian that knows about Greek mythology, then one thing stands out the most; there is only one god in Christianity besides there are several gods in Greek mythology. Zeus (the highest and most powerful god) created all gods in Greek mythology, as in our god that has been here since the beginning of time. Zeus is not a loving god. Zeus is more of a figure that plays with puppets in this huge play room, he s more of an image of power and greatness that wished to be worshiped at all times. Our God is a loving God that created everything and controls everything. He has an image of power and love though has a personal relationship with his followers. ... Zeus s two brothers Poseidon and Hades are also the most powerful gods among most other gods. All of these gods can sometimes have children called demigods which is a being that is half God half Man. God only has one child, Jesus. Since Zeus could be defeated, he is not as almighty and powerful as God. God granted us the ability of free will while as Zeus and all other Gods can manipulate, control and destroy its people at will. When you die you would go the three realms, with God there is only heaven or

Ford Pinto Ethics Essay Ford Pinto Case: The Invisible Corporate Human Pricetag In this essay, I will argue that Ford Motor Company s business behavior was unethical as demonstrated in the Ford Pinto Case. Ford did not reveal all the facts to consumers about a harmful gas tank design in the Ford Pinto. They tried to justify their decision to sell an unsafe car by using a Cost Benefit Analysis which determined it was cheaper to sell the cars without changing to a safer gas tank. The price of not fixing the gas tanks is human injuries and fatalities. By choosing not to make the Pinto a safer vehicle Ford placed a price on the head of every consumer. The Pinto was released for sale with the flawed design. There are a few concerns about harmful behavior of the FMC that should be discussed. A behavior is harmful when it wrongfully sets back the interest of others and has a high risk of harm. Obviously, the gravity of harm in this case is very high being that it is life threatening. Once a consumer has purchased the Pinto and drives it off the lot he is at risk to getting rear ended, and burned to death by a car fire or explosion. Since the weight of this harm is very severe, the low probability of the consumer having an accident doesn t discount Ford s unethical behavior. Indeed, driving a Ford Pinto would place a consumer s life at risk. Also at stake are the interests of Pinto passengers and drivers of other vehicles who certainly are not willing to risk their lives so Ford can make an extra buck. Everyone has an interest in not getting injured or killed. Setting back the interest of consumers isn t the only thing Ford Motor Company was responsible for. Indubitably, the company wronged the consumers and passengers by violating their rights to not be killed in a car fire and their right to minimal health

One basic thing about procrastination is that everyone procrastinates to some extent. However, some reasons can be put forward why university students rank highly among those mostly vulnerable to procrastination (Learning Commons Fastfacts Series, 2004). The reasons according to this group are: (i) there is always a tremendous amount of work to do. Regardless of how much time the students spend studying, it can seem impossible to get finished; (ii) for most students, only a few hours each day are spent in class and labs. The majority of time is unstructured, and students are responsible for deciding what to do and when to do it; and (iii) in the university environment, particularly in residence, there is usually something more enjoyable to do than studying. Despite millions of dollars spent by retailers each year on surveillance and enforcement devices to deter theft, shoplifting continues to be a major crime problem. Store security personnel detect as many as two million shoplifting cases per year, but many are not reported to the police. And of the almost 400,000 shoplifters detained and turned over to the police annually, the vast majority are not arrested partly because shoplifters often are not tried and sentenced. FINDINGS Shoplifting was not confined to specific gender, race, age, or social class. The typical shoplifter was, however, disproportionately young and female. Because they were young, they tended to be unmarried, unemployed, and less educated. As a group, they did not have extensive criminal records. Researchers found that the shoplifters who were arrested were neither more nor less likely as a group to commit future shoplifting offenses than were those who had been detained by store security personnel and released. The arrest rate for both groups over the six month period was about 10 percent. But arrest did have a significant deterrent effect on one important group juveniles. Of the 253 juveniles apprehended and turned over to the police for arrest, only four percent were rearrested for crimes other than shoplifting during the following six months. Of the 315 not turned over to the police, 10 percent were rearrested for crimes other than shoplifting. These findings challenge traditional assumptions that young people are more likely to repeat their criminal behavior than older people. In fact, the findings suggest that shoplifters under the age of 17 who are arrested are less than half as likely to repeat their behavior as those over age 17. IMPLICATIONS The findings illustrate only what worked for stores in a certain jurisdiction. Adult shoplifters arrested by the police in this particular jurisdiction were not likely to be prosecuted, convicted,

Her poetry remains a mystery to so many readers and her lack of biographical information makes her writing even more intriguing. Dickinson spent most of her life away from society, therefore, very few people knew how she viewed the aspects of life, let alone knew what her writing meant. Her interpretations of concepts such as religion, nature, and death are often seen as contradicting and pinning one specific thesis on her views is difficult because she viewed many things with complexity. Among her poems, readers see a diversity in her perspectives. For example, she might write one poem about the beauties of nature and continue to write another poem about the dangers or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar ambivalent themes are seen in Dickinson s views of death. Death is primarily seen in a negative light and she supports that perspective in I heard a Fly buzz when I died When Dickinson starts this poem, the reader senses a feeling of control from the narrator. The narrator is ready for death and accepting it; she writes I willed my keepsakes Signed away/ What portion of me be/ Assignable and the audience sees her willingness to go. However, There interposed a Fly and this fly s interruption created a change in tone. The narrator felt the windows fail and this could be seen as a metaphor for losing her spot in heaven. This poem makes death seem almost scary and one could assume that Dickinson views death this way. Contrarily, in I like a look of Agony she portrays death as a serene, authentic concept. The narrator says there is no faking death and that s what they most appreciate of death. Dickinson creates a relaxing tone associated with death and upon reading this certain poem, a reader may assume she views death as calm and genuine. Emily Dickinson also wrote plenty about nature, seeing as she was constantly around it rather than actual humans. Her views of nature vary from optimistic and intoxicating to frightening and threatening. In her poem There s a certain Slant of light , she carries a holy and amazed mood throughout it. Using words like Heavenly and Cathedral support the holiness in the text. The narrator is amazed at the

Once this process has finished, the investment bank is paid a percentage of the sale as commission as well as fees for the underwriting process. Due to the discount of the IPO from the estimate of the market value, traditional IPOs normally trade much higher than the initial price (Clinton, 2011). Being a long used and well known process, traditional IPOs allow for more choices of underwriters. Using an investment bank with experience in traditional IPOs allows for the road show to give the high profile investors a greater idea of the value of the company, and since the allocation of shares is done during this process they can avoid over valuing the company. Nayantara Hensel writes that underwriters who do less than three IPOs a year will average a first day price increase of 10%. On the other hand Hensel also tells us that the average first day price increase for all traditional IPOs is 38%, meaning a loss in the potential capitol for the company. The investment bank underwriting for a traditional IPO normally gets a 7% underwriting fee of the amount earned or more, bringing the potential money lost to 45 50%. Auction Based IPO An auction based IPO uses the Internet to open a company s IPO stock for purchase to more potential investors. This process allows a company to spend less on their underwrite fees. Decompetition is like competition, but it primarily promotes the worst attributes in athletics, producing a negative outcome (Shields, n.d.). Geographic Information Systems (Gis) The term Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a term used to refer to a system installed in a computer capable of manipulating, assembling, displaying and storing information that has been geographically referenced. Large volumes of data are mapped, analyzed and modeled using a single database depending on their locations. In short, the software gives one power to create maps. Information such latitudes, longitudes, elevations and ZIP codes are fed into the system and the results can be used to determine whether and climate patterns of different regions (Global Geographic Information Systems, 2007). For instance, marketers may use the tool to map demographic information by displaying and analyzing data. The system is often used for market analysis tool and it is best beneficial to companies and organizations that cover a large geographical area and have many workers. GIS is used for general statistical analyses and its geo coding component is also an important aspect. The GIS is designed to improve application for all users and its reliability is an attractive component. Establishing a GIS Model As attractive as the benefits of GIS may look to an organization, there are a variety of factors that need to be considered before this is done. Before the system is made, the number of users, GIS data base and application should be considered. The other key factor that comes in handy is the size of the geographical area. To add on this, the degree and frequency of use for each system also varies with its integration into the system. Before setting up a GIS system, one has to consider its functionality. If a system can run efficiently and effectively without this system, then it might be of no use incorporating this system (Somers 1998). The other point to note is the complexity of the GIS in use. The more complex a system is the more resources it handles at a time. Complex structures are often associated with complex and large organizations that require a lot of data feeding and have a lot of resources. For one to ascertain how they want their system to

The belief that African s were uneducated before the entrance of the Colonial era was another myth that needed to be resolved. It was the arrival of Colonial power that changed the definition of what true education really was. Of course, Achebe saw the arrival of Western education as a positive thing. It would enable his people to eventually take control of their country again. He echoed this thinking when the missionary, Mr. Brown who came to live with the Ibo people, begged and argued and prophesized. I never thoughtI would build up the confidence to sing infront of people ever but Mrs. Gates but i started to rethink that when my teacher told the class that at the end of this week on friday we will have auditions for a solo of the choir. I felt this uneasiness in my stomach and thought I was about to embarrass myself by throwing up in front of the whole class. I went the whole day just thinking about that solo. It was finally friday, days went by of me practicing for the audition, I made everyone else go first. When I finally got the courage to walk in front of everyone I belted out adele and everyone s jaw dropped. I didn t know if that was a good thingso I ran back to my seat and hit behind my desk and sat far back in my chair so I wouldn be noticed. The weekend went by and I didn t think much of the solos because I did not think I was gonna make the top 3. I walked into Mrs. Gates room feeling like my heart would stop any minute. • 50. Symptoms And Treatment Of A Healthy 44 Year Old Abstract: Pneumomediastinum is a pathologic condition characterized by the presence of air within the mediastinum and within deep neck spaces. It can be further categorized as spontaneous pneumomediastinum or secondary pneumomediastinum. Spontaneous pneumomediastinum is a rare clinical entity seen without any precipitating factors. On the other hand, secondary pneumomediastinum is due to disruption of the aeordigestive tract, typically from previous surgery, trauma, severe retching, or foreign body ingestion. Pneumomediastinum can be exacerbated by activities that generate a valsalva maneuver, as in physical exertion. The treatment protocol differs substantially between these two entities, so it is crucial that physicians differentiate between the two by gathering the appropriate history and physical exam. We report a case of a healthy 44 year old male who developed pneumomediastinum with moderate head and neck subcutaneous emphysema after minimal trauma while boogie boarding. The patient remained asymptomatic except for mild dysphonia and head and neck swelling. An extensive PubMed search revealed several case reports of spontaneous pneumomediastinum. This is, however, to our knowledge, one of the few reports of moderate to severe spontaneous pneumomediastinum presenting relatively asymptomatically. With this case report we hope to add to the current body of literature and present an unusual presentation of spontaneous pneumomediastinum in a healthy individual. Key Words:

The power of poetry consists of three vital points: content, impact, and relevance. Poetry is powerful; however, not every reader will find its power in the same way, or find power in it at all. It is not that one type of poem is inherently more powerful than another. What it is, however, is that the value of poetrycomes from a subjective place. Some poems may sit well with one audience but may not connect to another audience. Readers are the ones who determine exactly which pieces of poetry are powerful. When you combine radical feminism with amazing literary skills you obtain the astonishing powers of Adrienne Rich, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although poetry may seem timeless it does not necessarily mean that this is true. Some say that history repeats itself, however we can see this only happen to an extent. The subject s of Shakespeare s works may not apply to most people today. However the relevance a poem is determined by the reader themselves and their personal experiences or those they have seen others partake in. Audre Lorde is one of the most influential black female poets of her generation empowering people through her words to take action on the issues that matter most to them. She began writing in her early teens and her range of work expands from homophobia, sexism, and social injustice. I find her work Power to be one of the most influential pieces of writing that our class has discussed. Power is short poem about a social injustice among the African American community. The poem, although may not be relatable to every reader s experience, has such strong imagery that it is able to impact everyone in some way. Lorde depicts, I am trapped on a desert of raw gunshot wounds and a dead child dragging his shattered black face off the edge of my sleep blood from his punctured cheeks and shoulders After reading this short stanza the audience is placed in the narrator s shoes. Furthermore, this allows the reader to further identify with the context and content of the
