Why Should Marijuana Be Legalized Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of marijuana legalization can be both challenging and intriguing.
The subject is multifaceted, encompassing legal, medical, social, and ethical dimensions. Crafting
a compelling essay requires thorough research to understand the historical context, current legal
frameworks, and the diverse perspectives surrounding marijuana use.
One of the challenges lies in presenting a balanced argument. While advocating for legalization,
it's essential to acknowledge and address potential concerns related to public health, safety, and
regulatory issues. Striking the right balance between presenting factual information and
expressing a persuasive stance requires a careful and nuanced approach.
Additionally, the landscape of marijuana legalization is constantly evolving. Laws and public
opinions change, and new research emerges. Staying updated with the latest information is
crucial to ensure the essay's relevance and accuracy. Analyzing the impact of legalization in
various jurisdictions and considering both positive and negative outcomes adds another layer of
complexity.
Moreover, addressing the ethical considerations involved in marijuana legalization can be
intricate. Discussions may involve individual rights, the impact on vulnerable populations, and
the potential consequences of a legal marijuana market.
Despite these challenges, exploring the topic offers an opportunity for critical thinking and the
development of well-informed opinions. Crafting a compelling essay involves weaving together
evidence, expert opinions, and logical reasoning to build a coherent and persuasive argument.

Imperialism In Jane Samson s The British Empire
Some of the most renowned British individuals of the 18th and early 19th Centuries
were writing and commenting on the early stages of imperialism in British history.
While some were not pleased with the way the empire was introducing imperialism,
the overall consensus was that the empire was advancing through trade and
exploration. That being said, the various individuals in Jane Samson s The British
Empireprovide interesting points of view that tell us how exploration merged with the
introduction of free trade in the empire to create new opportunities for a developing
Britain that is still present today. To begin, one must be aware that the economic
system of Britain at the time, mercantilism, was a subject of debate among various

The Characteristics Of Beethoven And The Emperor
Symphony
The String Quartet was dedicated to Joseph Haydn, who was Beethoven s teacher
These characteristics of the Hunt Quartet are found in the Emperor concerto,
especially in the 6/8 Finale, which uses solely triadic melodies based on the tonic and
dominant chords exclusively
In some ways, Haydn, with his Military Symphony and the great E flat symphony no
103, Drumroll , prepares the world for the arrival of Beethoven
The Emperor Concerto uses similar characteristics of the Military Symphony no
100, which include a slow introduction, dotted rhythms, trilled notes to add a
pervasive air of expectation, stops and rests to introduce the essential element of
silence, and a turn to the minor to foretell the forthcoming use of that mode to darken

In his early works, when Beethoven could hear the full range of frequencies, he made
use of higher notes in his compositions
As his hearing failed, he began to use the lower notes that he could hear more clearly
Works including the Moonlight Sonata, his only opera Fidelio and six symphonies
were written during this period
The high notes returned to his compositions towards the end of his life which
suggests he was hearing the works take shape in his imagination
E flat Major, the key of the Emperor concerto, is closely related to its relative C
minor, as they both share three flats in the key signature
A lot of scholars have explored the heroism of C minor, however I would argue the
fact that what applies to C minor can also be said of E flat
Comparing And Contrasting Colonial America

Comparing and Contrasting Colonial America
In the seventeenth century, colonial America was categorized into three major
regions; New England, the Middle Colonies, and the South. Each region provided
various opportunities and breakthrough ideas that created a distinct economic,
cultural, and political society different from any other region. These ideas became the
beginning of some prominent themes and beliefs Americans see as essential in today
s society. As the Protestant Reformation lead to oppression of outside opinions and
beliefs, many peoples took this opportunity to start anew in colonial America.
However, each region adopted a slightly different religion. For example, New England
became a stable platform for Protestants. As the Church of England underwent radical
changes, some Englishmen opposed these changes due to their striking similarities to
Catholicism, and therefore sought a new religion, Protestantism (Foner p.64). In
order to avoid oppression and discrimination of their new religion in England, many
fled to America in hopes of seeking religious tolerance. Some settled in
Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania. Protestantism preached about the
importance of sermons, equality, and even adopted John Calvin s idea of pre
determined salvation (Foner p. 65). Winthrop and the first settlers of Massachusetts
set up a Commission in which Puritan beliefs governed society. For example,

An Description Of An Ecological Footprint Essay
Introduction
An ecological footprint tells us how much land and sea area is required to produce
the resources and living necessities for some number of human beings upon it , as
well as how much that area of land or sea absorbs carbon dioxide emissions. But it
also helps us tell how much our particular land/sea area used for living compared to
the land/sea area available on the planet (thus one might say, as in my case, that if
everyone lived like me we would require 3.9 earths to allow for them to live,
sustainably). ==========
An ecological footprint is an important unit of measurement to have because it
helps give us some indication about the total amount of resources we are using,
and some of its effect on the planet. Thus a footprint can help us reach a better level
of sustainable living by giving us some way to measure our progress towards or away
from that particular goal (where otherwise we would have no way of telling truly
how sustainably we were living). ==========
Analysis ==========
If everyone lived like me, we would need 3.9 earths to provide the necessary
resources. To support my lifestyle, it would take 17.4 global acres of the Earth s
productive area (or 17 tons of carbon dioxide). Most of which, over 55% would be
for energy/land. About 13% would be necessary for crop land. About a 4% would
be needed for grazing. About 18% would be forested land, along with roughly 7% of
built up land and roughly 3% in fishing grounds. (All of these measurements

Useful...
Prompt 1: To date, what has been your favorite and/or most useful assignment or
activity and why?
I find that the short writes number nine and ten were my favorite and most useful
assignments given. They allowed me to write about myself and what I was doing.
Since we had to test the rules stated in Choosing Civility, it allowed me to experience
what I was writing about. I enjoyed testing several of the rules because of how
complicated some can be to test. It helped me learn that by following some of the
rules civility is possible. This was an assignment that did not involve research and
more hands on experiences, which I find more enjoyable.
Prompt 2: In what way(s) has 102 changed your way of thinking?
Reading Choosing Civility in English 102 changed my way of thinking completely.
The assignments helped me expand my research and analysis skills. Also, just
reading the book opened me up to civility in general. The short write assignments
for this book also expanded my understanding of civility. I have found myself being
more civil ever since I read the book.
Prompt 3: Reflect on the annotated bibliography experience. How did it help you in
writing or preparing to write your position paper?
Unlike many students, I did not mind doing the annotated bibliography. I found that
it took a long time to complete. It was a challenge to find scholarly articles and use
the databases. Even though it was time consuming and a challenge if found it

The Pros And Cons Of The Homeland Security System
The homeland security system of the United States has a seemingly impossible task
of preventing all attacks on each and every aspect of our country. It is an extremely
dangerous world we live in with countless number of people that want to destroy our
way of life. There have been several improvements made to our securitysystem. To
fully critique the capabilities of the homeland security system of the United States, I
m going to evaluate the performance, identify the shortcomings, and then lastly
suggest some improvements to prevent future challenges.
One of the best way to critique the capabilities of something is to look at the facts,
and the patterns that have occurred. Since the creation of the Department of
Homeland Security as we know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We need to be much more selective on who enters this country. Especially when
there are other countries are in the middle of a civil war, leaving the world with
millions of refugees to deal with. Our borders lack the security needed to ensure
no one enters the country illegally. After these two have been accomplished we
have stopped the bleeding , and only then we will be able to limit the amount of
lone wolf attackers in our country. Neither of these two strategies effect our civil
liberties that are protected by the constitution. After we have done as much as we
possibly can to eliminate an outside threat, we need to try and stand united. We
need strong leaders in every level of government to keep us focused on who the
real enemy is. Lastly, we need to figure out a strategy of identifying who U.S.
citizens are mentally ill and need medical attention. The last thing we need is a
medically ill person driving when they shouldn t be, or purchasing firearms when
they should be. A friend or a loved one should be able to recognize an issue and alert
the proper authorities before something tragic happens.
If we are going to improve the future of the homeland security system, we have to
stay one step ahead. We have to do our best at predicting where the enemy is going
to be. We have to realize where our greatest vulnerabilities are. We have to constantly
evaluate our system, and try to prioritize how are defensive assets are

Synthetic Phonics In Children
All phonics involves teaching letter sound letters. The adjective synthetic refers to
the fact that children are taught to synthesise (i.e. put together or build up)
pronunciations for unfamiliar written words by translating letters into sounds and
blending the sounds together ( blending = synthesising ). Analytic phonics focuses
more on the analysis of words after they have been identified in some other way for
example by being supplied by the teacher, recognised as sight words or guessed
from pictures or context. Children learn from synthetic phonics as they understand
how a letter is pronounced such as when reading a story you could explain to the
children aaaa so they know how to say the letter a children also benefit from

also competing with FedEx (Foust, 2003).
Strengths
Major strength of FedEx is its fastest home delivery service among all courier
companies.
Customer base of FedEx is its one major strength but proper attention should be paid
to maintain it properly.
Another huge privilege which FedEx possess is its Smart Post option which allows it
to utilize e commerce to carry out the courier delivery services.
It has gained the position of 2nd largest LTL carrier in US and thus has gained much
popularity among its clients.
It s well established online courier tracking services are gaining more and more
popularity in recent times thus allowing the clients to attract towards the company
more easily.
Innovation is one big advantage which FedEx carries and thus it keeps on innovating
new solutions for client s problems.
Weaknesses
One big weakness of FedEx is its inability in maintaining its competitive position in
the marketing especially in comparison to its big competitor named UPS.
Not completely but high costs are also making its success a bit away because
competitors offer such packages at low rates.
Although it is efficient but sometimes quality of services does not satisfy clients
which in case make the customer base decrease at a slower pace but it is still
dangerous for the company.

As the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention. With literally no marketing
budget, startups are forced to seek the optimal and probably most basic way of
seeking customers: Focus on who they are and where they are. You can t spend
millions of dollars to build your brand name and mindshare before influencing the
consumers to purchase your product. So, what do you do? You tweak your product
until it meets their needs and you hit the viral button to make growth sky rocket
exponentially. It is a matter of survival for startups. You have no luxury of time nor
money as it is a matter of life and death for your business. The whole company is
focused on the same goal: Get the product right for the customers to justify the
existence of the startup.
We now have a term for this: Growth Hacking. This term was coined by Sean Ellis in
2010 where he blog about a growth hacker as a person whose true north is growth.
Everything they do is scrutinized by its potential impact on scalable growth . This
term was introduced by Andrew Chen to

Solar Phone Screens Advantages And Disadvantages
Introduction
A solar cell is defined as energy of light being converted into electricity they are
most commonly known for being the driving force behind solar panels. Solar panel
phone screens are a recent addition to possible technologies that promote prolonging
battery life and conserving energy in mobile phones.
Generally, they work by soaking up energy received from the sun s rays and then
converting it into useable electricity. This is a practice in the context of mobile
phones is relatively new found and has not seen widespread commercialization. As
with any young technology, there of course comes disadvantages with its use and
function.
However, in this case the benefits seem to outweigh the shortcomings as there is little
harm done towards the environment. Various companies are showed a direct interest
in the future of solar powered screens, larger companies such as Apple (Apple patent
hints at potential solar cell embedded touch screens, p2) have in fact shared job
listings in relation to the development of this technology in their future phones.
What it is?
Solar panel phone screens are simply another way to reduce the toll of high energy
consumption found in phone devices today. It is a pre existing technology and idea,
the same design comes from traditional solar panels which receive sun light, and
large enough to offer considerable electricity to power an entire household.
Solar panel phone screens can be described as a more portable and compact rendition
Argumentative Essay About A Soccer Game
I happened to be on outdoor sandy field experiencing different mixed emotions as I
saw people with several face expression at the end of the big soccer game. It was
exhausting and unforgiving game that got some players injured, and caused the bad
sportsmanship to take place between the coaches, players, and fans. Our fans and
our rival s fans fought each other, and they threw stuff across the stadium as if they
were dealing with a gigantic wild animal. Some of the playerscouldn t fully focus on
their soccer match due to their divided attention, and some of them were terrified
by the fan s unnecessary acts. Whenever I think about this moment, I cry and smile
at same time because we finally understood the meaning of fair play of soccer, and
happy ending of our game occurred as a result of that. I knew before the game that
the unsportsmanlike conduct would happen, it really did as I thought, but besides
our soccer game s dirty side, it appeared to be more captivating by the way it was
played than any other game. I believe that there were three causes for the
ungentlemanly behavior that we faced during the tournament. Both my team and the
rival team fought to death in order to win the important soccer league because
neither of the teams made it to the final game before. They always face each other
during the knockout games which made them rivals. Finally, the beauty of the game
also had an effect for why the match took place to be played dirty.

A Note On The Value Of Physical Contact
Humans are oriented around touch. Babies crave nurturing and nearness to their
mother from the minute they exit the womb. Something as simple as a warm
embrace can wipe sorrow and stress away. This need for physical contact is the
reason why letters carry so much more value than an email or text message. Letters
are tangible: they re a piece of paper that can be stored in a drawer or tacked up on
a wall. They require time and attention to write, so they are able to convey such an
emotional closeness people who are far away. There is such a stark contrast
between dialogue and text: people are often more willing to honestly write down
their feelings to express them aloud. That is why Mark Dunn held true to the
passions of his hyper literate Nollopians by deciding write his debut novelentirely in
letters; they mean something to people, especially those who are in love.
Mittie is a prime example of this concept seeing as she keeps a box of all the letters
she had received from Amos dating back long before the alphabet began to fall
apart. Reading these letters her mother had treasured actually gave Ella a sense of
comfort when she was almost entirely alone on Nollop: I miss ewe all teeplee. I reat
letters teer, sweet letters ewe wrote to Pop warm, engaging letters Pop wrote to
eww...I reat tem to gain neeted inspiration (Dunn 187). Letters, such as the ones
written by Mittie and Amos, have a way of revealing the author s personality, their
voice to put it in English terms.

Having children comes as natural as eating; being a good parent comes only with a

Children cannot develop a moral compass unless people around them use the clear,
sharp language of right and wrong. I agree with this totally. Never should anyone
have cause to curse at their children. I have always told my children cursing is a
sign of poor communication skills. I have never spoken to my children like a
baby. Speak to your children like people and they will develop a vocabulary like a
person should, provide them with a dictionary so they can look up words they did
not understand during the conversation or allow them to ask during the conversation.
Following this as developed its own problems in life; all my children have had issues

will ignore these limits on occasion. Reasonable punishment is one of the ways
human beings have always learned. Children must understand what punishment is
for and know that its source is parental love. I agree with this statement in it s
entirely. In today s society government has made it a bad thing for children to be

Arguments Against Veganism
Ever since the beginning of time, man has hunted and consumed animals for survival.
Because of this, it is been taught for millennials that meat is an essential to our
bodies for survival and health. While we are capable of eating meat, the question is,
should we? Firstly, humans do not need to eat meat, or any other animal products for
that matter, for survival. Modern day humans are not living in the same conditions as
early humans were, making it unnecessary for us to consume animal products. We no
longer need to rely on animals for consumption, and in fact, it is actually best to leave
them absent from your diet. Numerous amounts of studies have been conducted that
support the claim that consuming animal products is detrimental... Show more content

One of the most common arguments is that our ancestors ate it, so so should we.
Humans have had omnivorous diets since the beginning of mankind, and this has
been an argument that is oftenly used against veganism. Early humans were
scavengers and ate whatever they could find for the purpose of survival and it is
believed that humans ate a majority of meat, however scientific studies have shown
otherwise. In a study conducted, plant derived fiber was the majority of what was
found in early human feces (nutritionfacts.org). Vegaprocity (vegaprocity.com) shows
that both carnivores and omnivores require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, while all
herbivores, frugivores, and humans do require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, however
in America, usually less than half the recommended fiber intake a day is consumed
(nutritionfacts.org). While there is no denial that early humans did not hunt and eat
animals, this suggests that the majority of what was ate ate was not meat, but in fact
plants and herbs. When compared to carnivores, humans show more similarity to
herbivores and frugivores. One of the common arguments used in opposition to
veganism is that humans are supposed to eat meat because the mechanism of our
body suggest so. This, however, is false. When compared to carnivores and
herbivores, humans share far more similarities with herbivores. To begin with,

Analyzing of the poem Those Winter Sundays
The speaker s has some images of his childhood years with his father in early
Sundays mornings. In the poem Those Winter Sundays the speaker s present attitude
is prompted by his Image, Circumstances, and Memory of his childhood relationship
with his father s First, The speaker s uses clear and powerful images in the poem he
speaks of the cold as Blue black cold (lines 2) to let the readers know what time of
year it was in other words he describes Blue Black Cold (2) is not something you can
feel, but the speaker uses it to so you can get the image of how it looks rather than
just how it feels. However, the speaker also uses another image of his childhood the

Hayden remembers his father waking up early on Sunday morning hands that ached
from labor in the weekday (4) his father would call for him early that morning and
Hayden would put on his clothes to get his day started with his father rather if it
was helping his father start a fire to keep the house warm, he would get up and
help his father fearing the chronic anger of that house. (8). I feel that the speaker is
reminiscing over how his father used to get him up early on Sunday mornings to
help with anything his father needed help with. I remember when I was a young
boy, my father would make me get up early on Saturday morning to help him cut
some yards he used to tell me early birds catch the worms back then I couldn t
understand why he was making me get up and go to work with him, but now I see
that he was only doing that to make me a man and also there was offices that I had
to do. The speaker attitude is most likely the same he is looking back when he was
younger seeing what his father was making him do was to make him a man and to
show him that he had to work to survive. Conclusion, The author Robert Hayden
feels that he will never know how much his father has done for him as a child. Not to
mention that his father went unrecognized for the acts he has done for his family.
Although, looking back the speaker is presently promoted by his image,
circumstances, and memory of his childhood
Peasants
Manorialism was a part of feudalism and supported it. Peasants were very important
on the manor. Peasants lived on and farmed the manor s land. In return for the
work, lords would protect the peasants and gave them a share of land to grow their
crops (Cels 4). Peasants that did not own any land would be hired by lords or
peasants who were in better condition than them to work for them on the land (Cels
8). Peasants had to work almost for the whole day growing food and making other
things for their family and to give to the lords (Cels 4). Peasants would work for
three days a weeks for the lord and they had to work for extra time during harvest
time (King and Epperly 34). They were very important on manorialism and feudalism

While she was a child, she would learn how to act properly as a lady. Her father
would usually be knight and her family would be noble (Butterfield 9). Her
husband s family were friends with her father because her father s land was in the
neighboring area (Butterfield 9). She was taught from a young age about how she
should behave (Butterfield 9). When she was born, she was forced and expected to
be a lady and had no choice in any other lifestyle (Butterfield 9). When she got to the
proper age for marriage her new life as a lady would start. The wife of a knight
(nobility) was called a lady (Butterfield 9). The lady would be the most noble in her
husband s manor, the lady of the manor (Butterfield 9). Her husband had a higher
ranking than her and had more rights than she did. St. Augustine, a famous
philosopher of the Christian church wrote The husband should give orders to the
wife, parents to the children and masters should give orders to servants (Howarth
25). Her husband also owned everything on the estate. The law stated that
everything that she owned belonged to him and she was ranked second after
husband on the estate (Butterfield 9). The lady and her husband have their own
servants to dress them, look after their clothes and their well being (Butterfield
15). Marriage was important for the lady. It linked two important families together
and was a way to increase wealth or prestige of each family. It was not for love
between two people (Howarth 25). At seven years old, she would know who her
husband was going to be (Butterfield 9) and soon enough she would be married off
to a husband of a much older age (Howarth 25). Her husband was chosen from a
suitable background (Howarth 25) and the lady would have married the knight at
around 13 years old and would have left her family s estate or manor for her husband

The Beach Boys Accomplishments
What would you do if the one thing you enjoyed the most in the world became
your career? You d enjoy going to work everyday, right? The Beach Boys got to
live their dream of being musicians. This group of five teenagers started off as a
regular high school band, and their successes as ended as they changed the future of
pop culture. Each band has their own story to tell of their group s origin and their
successes.
Let s be real. When you start to admire someone, you usually want to know about
them. Their history, accomplishments, and their dirty deeds matter to you. For
instance, Brian Wilson, leader of the group, stated that he and his brothers had a pretty
great childhood, except for their father beating them all the time. (Biography.com ...

For example, when you were a teenager were you signing deals with record labels
and traveling around the country to perform? Late in October of 1961, The Beach
Boys recorded demos of their first two surfing songs, which hit the charts and
scored them a record deal with Capitol Records. (Kemp) Their hit single Good
Vibrations and the album Pet Sounds joined the other two songs on the charts.
These four are generally known as the band s greatest hits. In the late 60 s Brian
Wilson suffered from a nervous breakdown and stopped touring. He claimed that
everything he was doing for the group was too much. (The Orchard) When he was
gone he experimented with sounds and harmonies, which later became more of the
backgrounds of their popular songs. (Kemp) The Beach Boys started to fall, so
they flew to Europe to perform for the first time. In both the United States and in
Europe many people described them as teenage symphonies to God. Later in that
decade the band was joined by many other artists such as Blondie Chaplin, Ricky
Fataar, and Bruce Johnston. (The Orchard) The successes and prosperities of The
Beach Boys will remain golden
Analysis Of Woodrow Wilson s The Straw That Broke The...
Following WW1, Europe was left in a bad state. Empires were destroyed and states
were being formed. The Minority question that arose following the war, albeit
important, was not as much of a destabilizing force in this time as people like to
think. It was only the byproduct of events that took place. These events include the
publishing of the fourteen points, the settlements made during the Paris Peace
conference, and the creation of state constitutions. The minority question was, in
essence, the straw that broke the camel s back, breaking the already damaged
infrastructure of post war Europe.
In order to answer the question on why minority rights became such a destabilizing
force after the war, we must first look at what caused this problem to become the
forefront of many European minds. Two pivotal events took place following the war
that left stains on Europe; stains that, to some, indirectly led to the start of World War
2. The first and most important event was the publishing of Woodrow Wilsons
fourteen points on January 8, 1918. These points were created in the hope to promote
peace and harmony among the recently war stricken nations of Europe. One
prominent point that came from this document was the idea of self determination.
This encouraged people to form their own nation where they could choose rulers and
live amongst others who share the same culture. This piqued the interest of the
millions of people living in the various, and heavily
War Of The Worlds Environmental Disaster
Hollywood has had a history of producing apocalyptic science fiction films in
which certain societies are faced with life threatening conditions and have to look to
other planets for gathering resources. Movies such as Oblivion (directed by Joseph
Kozinsky) and War of the Worlds (Steven Spielberg) focus on aliens who arrive on
Earth, looking to wipe out humankind in hopes of obtaining the planets food and
water to sustain their own population. They are seen to be evil and greedy creatures
who care for no other species except for themselves. However, despite their attempts
to take over Earth, these resource hungry aliens eventually retreat back to their own
worlds with empty hands after being driven off by humans and their determination to

The Hidden Assault On Our Civil Rights By Kenji Yoshino
It is not uncommon for people to wear a mask when trying to hide something they
wish not to share, but when it starts to impacting them and other people around them
negatively, it becomes a problem. Having to hide aspects of one s life just to fit in
with the rest of society is something that is unnecessary, even if one feels that it is
needed. Kenji Yoshinois the Chief Justice Earl Warren professor of Constitutional
Law at New York University. Yoshino is also the author of the book, Covering: The
Hidden Assault On Our Civil Rights. In New Civil Rights, Kenji Yoshino talks about
covering as Covering is to tone down a disfavored identity to fit into the
mainstream (Yoshino 552). Although covering in society is something that appears
to be normal, having to hide a part of one s life can impact them negatively because
they cannot express who they really are. Expressing oneself should be considered
the normal, not hiding how they wish to express about themselves. Covering is a
bad trait in society that people have become immune to covet because they feel like
they have to so they can fit into society and be liked by everyone.
Today people are influenced by several factors that have emerged into... Show more

The thought of fitting into what is considered to be normal made up by other
people is stupid. This means everyone as a whole is living in a bunch of total lies.
Living in what is called normal is the problem of this world. The true self is
associated with human spontaneity and authenticity: Only the True Self can be
creative and only the True Self can feel real (Yoshino 554). If everyone could just
live the way they wanted to society would not have as many angry people. Everyone
would be doing what they love with other people that love to do the samething.
Although covering has such a negative effect on society it could have very minor
things that could help it
What Are The Importance Of Ergonomics
1.1 What is Ergonomics?
Ergonomics is the scientific study of interaction among humans and the other
elements of a system in which they analyze the data and provide theories and
principles to develop methods which are designed to progress human well beings and
overall performance. There are three types of ergonomics. Physical ergonomics,
cognitive ergonomics and organizational ergonomics. Each category is closely
monitored and studied separately by the ergonomists to interpret and prevent work

The reason why I chose boxing rather than the other options provided was because
my uncle does boxing. Another reason why I was interested in boxing was to see
how boxing could relate to judo since Sensei described how Professor Leon Jay
was an innovator using judo, boxing, and jujitsu. Boxing techniques are somewhat
similar to judo, especially the pivoting of the body and defenses. I usually hear and
see my uncle shadowbox while practicing his footwork and punches and sometimes
he d teach me a bit here and there. While he was teaching me how to position
myself in a proper stance, how to move, and where to place my arms, I just thought
to myself that this was a difficult sport to master. It was just like the beginning of
judo for me. Every step, position, and body placement are critical to how you
perform during sparring. From what I read and what I hear from my uncle, the
workout is more strenuous. I m not quite sure if I want to put up with a ten pound
ball smacked against my abdominal region for a couple of sets. Although I wouldn t
mind learning boxing for the reasoning of self defense and to improve on my
footwork that may also help with judo. Especially with the shuffling from left to right
mentioned in the book, the movement reminded me of the taikabashi that we
practiced during class. While reading the section of ring strategy and boxing

Buffy the Vampire Slayer s debut in 1997 reinforces the concept that ...since the
late 1990s/early 2000s, the sympathetic vampire...has become distinctly more
common in popular fiction and film than the monstrous stereotype as a vicious
killer (qtd. in Parke and Wilson 179). Throughout the Buffy series, one of Buffy s
main love interests has been Angel, an outcast vampire who has empathy for
humans (e.g., he does not harm humans unless provoked, he protects Buffy and her
friends from other vampires). As opposed to the other vampires in Buffy, Angel
has a soul and experiences guilt for his past crimes. Writer Lorna Jowett (of Buffy,
Dark Romance and Female Horror Fans) introduces the idea that Buffy the
Vampire Slayer has impacted science fiction (paranormal, in particular) by a theme
of dark romance : ...its male protagonists are powerful and dangerous, often
presented as stereotypical bad boys, and the fact that they are vampires or
werewolves positions them naturally , both monstrosity and masculinity (qtd in
Stuller 92). A notable bad boy in Buffy is the vampire, Spike: he is a soulless and
sadistic who eventually rebels against the Anointed One (a supernatural being who
is prophesized to lead vampires into power). Although Spike is portrayed as a
merciless killer, he is devoted to his first lover (Drusilla) although his commitment
to her was not reciprocal and reveals a softer side of himself to Buffy when he
helps her cope with her death and resurrection. Although Buffy and Spike develop a
romantic relationship, he accepts that she will never be able to fully return his
feelings. Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries is strongly influence and
essentially mirrors Spike s bad boy characteristics: similar to Spike, he is a selfish
rebel whose actions are solely meant to benefit himself. Damon also
Naturally Evil In Lord Of The Flies
People are born either naturally bad or naturally good, but the decisions they make
determine who they are. In Lord Of The Flies by William Golding a group of
adolescent British boys are stuck on an island due to a tragic plane crash. The group
attempts to set up a small society, but without supervision or any form of civilization
the boys return to their natural state of savagery. The theme of the story is shown
through symbols that depict that humans are born naturally evil, and without the
proper structure they will return to their natural savage form; true human nature does
not determine who someone becomes, but the decisions they make will alter their
lives. A message can be portrayed by images, and objects that are naturally in the

1. unification under a democratic system,
2. peaceful unification
3. the status quo,
4. unification under a communist system.
What can be said about these four outcomes as they apply to the Prisoner s Dilemma?
First, neither North nor South Korea sees the status quo as the worst choice. Second,
each side sees the opponents most desired outcome as its worst possible outcome.
Third, each side prefers a peaceful unification to the status quo. And lastly, neither
side prefers a peaceful unification to its own best choice. The result of this is, as in

a communist settlement of unification to either the status quo or a peaceful

the fact that the possibility of a peaceful settlement to unification is exists (a peaceful

Summary Of Walker Percy sThe Loss Of The Creature
Progression 1 Close Reading Walker Percy s essay, The Loss of the Creature, points
out a growing problem with the state of humanity: People have lost their ability to
evaluate worth on their own, in what Percy refers to as their sovereignty. Percy
delivers his message without most of the technical jargon one would expect. In doing
so, the problem he points out seems like something that is accessible to the average
person, rather than a concept that is far from our understanding. To begin his
inquiry of life and sovereignty, Percy argues why a person can t see the Grand
Canyon for what it is. Percy tells the story of a famous explorer, Garcia Lopez de
Cardenas, who was astonished by his discovery of what is now known as the Grand
Canyon. Percy briefly describes The Grand Canyon, and then he asks a question that
might confuse readers at first. Percy asks, Does not one see the same sight from the
Bright Angel Lodge that CГЎrdenas saw (Percy 1)? The anticipated answer that
most readers would say is yes, but as one reads on, Percy argues otherwise. In
following up on his question, he attempts to make his point clear by assigning the
label P to Cardenas Grand Canyon experience. (Percy 1) He argues that when
sharing the value of P with millions of sightseers, each person doesn t receive the
same experience of Cardenas, result in one millionth of its worth. By using values to
demonstrate worth, Percy says that experiences can be added to and taken from them.

Utilitarianism In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Little Women
By:
Louisa May Alcott
A Victorian literature characteristic shown in Little Women is utilitarianism. This
is shown throughout the book as the four girls, Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy were so
kind and often tried to do things that make others happy and don t expect anything
in return. This characteristic is evident when Beth said I ll tell you what we ll do,
let s each get her (their dear mother) something for Christmas, and not get anything
for ourselves (6). In this scene, the four sisters, who get along beautifully, were
sitting by the fire and when they notice how worn out their mother s slippers were.
Initially, they didn t get any gifts or presents for Christmas since their father was
away at war and they had to save money so they decided to use a little of their hard
earned money to each buy something for themselves. But after seeing the condition
of Marmee s slippers, they decide to use their own money to buy something nice for
their mother. This quote shows utilitarianism because the Beth, Meg, Jo, and Amy all
give up their own hard earned money to do something nice and considerate for
someone else. Essentially, the four loving sisters thought of doing something to make
someone happy and put themselves aside for a while.
Another Victorian literature characteristic shown in this book is social classstructure.
This is evident throughout the entire novel because Meg, Beth, Jo, Amy, and Marmee
are all quite poor and face many different issues

Organizational Culture is the system of shared actions, values, and beliefs that has
developed within an organization and guides the behavior of its members.
Organizational Development consists of special applications of knowledge gained
from behavioral science to create a comprehensive design to improve organizational
effectiveness. Through the collective experiences, the members of an organization
solve two important survival issues. The first issue addresses external adaption
which deals with reaching goals, how they are to be accomplished, the methods to be
used to achieve these goals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some strategy to help strengthen the organization call for managers to modify
observable cultures such as shared values, and common assumptions directly. Most
organizations contain a variety of subcultures, and a few have countercultures that
can become the source of potentially harmful conflicts. The corporate culture will also
reflect the values of the larger national culture. The first step management must take
is to first recognize an organized culture s subculture. Subculture s management
are referred to in the OB literature by the term Management Philosophy.
Management Philosophies link key goal related issues with key collaboration
issues and develops guidelines by which the firm will manage its affairs. It is
important to have a well developed management philosophy because it links
strategy to a more basic understanding of how the firm is to operate. These
strategies are; (1) to establish understood boundaries for all members of the firm,
(2) to provide a consistent way of approaching new and novel situations, and (3) to
help hold individuals together by assuring them of a known path toward success.
Managers may and can modify aspects of culture which include; modifying the
language, stories, rites, rituals, and sagas. They often will change the lessons to be
drawn from the stories told and even encourage people to see the reality they see.
Because of top management s position, senior managers can interpret situations in
new ways

Solitary Confinementation In Prisons In The Story Of...
Psychology has become a very important and controversial subject to society.
Psychology has always helped us better apprehend the ethics and etiquettes of people
and their traits. Psychology is important because it concerns the sciences of the
mind, and how many factors trigger different behaviors in certain situations. A
common example in society today is the use of solitary confinement in prisons and
how it affects the lives of the inmates and their families. This is seen in the story of
Kalief Browder.
Some of the behaviors of people in society may branch in positive outcomes or
negative outcomes. A great example is the story of Kalief Browder. In May of
2010, Kalief Browder, who was a sixteen year old high school sophomore student,
was arrested for allegedly stealing a bag containing a few valuable items. He
pleaded innocent, however, he was taken to Rikers Island, while waiting for trial
which his trial was repeatedly delayed by the courts. During Browder s stay in prison,
he was put into solitary confinement several times. Solitary confinement is a policy
used on prisoners who committed jepardary crimes, who put the lives of people in
danger, or who put the assurance of oneself in danger. Often times, society confuses
the policy of solitary confinement with the stereotype that mostly Black and African
Americans are the individuals that are most likely in solitary confinement. However,
solitary confinement is used for disciplinary punishment on individuals and is used

a broken english act and also joked about her last name being Johnson. Anjelah uses
humor in her act to make the audience laugh for example when she was put with the
latino cast for the interviews she said might as well put me in the black interview
because she doesn t speak spanish and also because her last name is Johnson.
First Anjelah jokes about small things like one of the actors that was going be in the
movie and on how she killed Selena in the movie
Selena so that the audience is ready for the punchline. For example she says she
moved her trailer just incase because of how she killed
Selena even tho it s just a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, Anjelah uses word choice to make the audience laugh. For example near
the end of the act kinda like a bit after the middle she uses word choice by saying
Ay yiyi when she finds out she s going to be working with America Ferrera and that
it s not a joke. This is an example of word choice because when she says Ay yiyi at
the same time she was speaking in a broken english voice because she was
reenacting her reaction when she found out she was going to work with America
Ferrera.
Yes ,you can joke about raceand how some people may not speak a certain language
but don t make fun of other leave that up to Anjelah and go
See one of her comedy act especially the one that i m talking about. Maybe if more
people went to Anjelah s shows they would learn not to take offence to small things
about race and just go and have a good time cause she isn t making fun of nobody at
the end of the day just herself on how she doesn t speak
Human Resources And Organizational Development
Human Resources and Organizational Development
Employee Empowerment
Working together may be crucial since the individual functions of these two
departments are not the same. The most important function of Organizational
Development is to align the mission, values, and culture of the entire organization to
create partnerships between employees and management. Their emphasis is on
connecting the employees and departments to work as a team by instilling the
company s main beliefs. Many employers feel employee development should be the
full responsibility of Organizational Development because of their specialized skills
and training in talent management. They feel this strategy should not be HR s
responsibility because Human Resources main ... Show more content on

Increasing employee satisfaction can be as easy as changing the culture to
empowerment in the workplace which begins with communication, encouraging
feedback and giving team members the ability to make more decisions. This approach
will have a direct relationship between employee satisfaction and overall
performance. As the team member s performance improves so does the individual s
confidence and commitment to the company. That confidence in empowered
employees can also be andisadvantage for organizations. Leaders have concerns of
increased arrogance in individuals because encouraging employee empowerment
creates a sense of overconfidence in team members. They are making important
decisions without supervision and taking more risks. Although this is all a part of the
empowerment principles, taking risks can be successful and they can also be failures.
Employee empowerment requires a strong and lasting commitment from an
organization s management (p. 2) and that may require changing the culture or
management style of the organization (Emerson, 2012). Many older and long term
team members are also resistant to learning new things or accepting changes but in
order to make this change a success, it will take the entire organization s commitment.
But these programs will only succeed if the team member is motivated and has a
desire for professional growth. The reality is that many employees are
The Importance And Benefits Of Math Manipulatives In...
пЂ¦Boggan (2010) explained the importance and benefits of math manipulatives. The
value of manipulatives has been recognized for many years, but some teachers are
unwilling to use them in teaching. Elementary teachers who use manipulatives to
teach mathematics can positively affect student learning. Students at all levels and of
all abilities can benefit from manipulatives. пЂ¦Bradley et.al. (2008) examined
teacher s attempt to improve instructional strategies for teaching mathematics in an
elementary school. The findings of the study revealed that the students were more
involved in math activities, especially during peer tutoring. The students enjoyed the
music as well as the entertaining videocassette with the mathematics objective as the
subject of a story. Perhaps as a result of the audio, visual, and kinesthetic modes of
instruction, students actually appeared more attentive during direct instruction.
Teachers reported that carrying through with manipulatives and number lines with the
fourth and fifth graders helped them to grasp abstract concepts and become more
accurate in solving problems in the math textbook. пЂ¦Kelly (2006) explored in
elementary classrooms that how children use manipulatives and/or tools in problem
solving while working on mathematical tasks. Current research reveals that teachers
need to teach and assess children s mathematical knowledge in ways that will allow
them to show (perform) what they really understand. In this research use of
Machiavellianism In Much Ado About Nothing
Machiavellianism is seen by many people as describing others as being evil, selfish,
and only doing things to benefit them or make them feel good. In the book Much
Ado About Nothing, there is many examples of Machiavellianism through characters
like Don Jon, and Borachio. Only one of those can take the throne, so to end the
debate, Borachio is more Machiavellian than Don Jon due to his plan for Claudio, his
evil actions during the planning, and execution phases of that.
The first reason to show that Borachio is more Machiavellian than Don Jon is,
because he s the one that actually got the idea to trick Claudio that Hero is cheating,
and his more evil personnel. In Act 2 Scene 2, Don Jon tells Borachio that Claudio
will marry Hero, and Borachio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Borachio, and Conrad are talking about the plan, while being drunk, well even
before the plan Borachio shows many signs of Machiavellianism. Before discussing
the actual plan, Borachio says a line stating Thou shouldst rather ask if it were
possible any villainy should be so rich. For when rich Villains have need of poor
ones, poor ones may make what price they will (Shakespeare 55). In this line
Borachio is being disrespectful to those less fortunate people, and saying that how
can a Villain be so rich? As he himself is one of the villains of this plot, he is acting
like those highly ranked jerks that only care about themself, as he is also saying
that poor people don t really have many choices of luxury as him. Would people
want everyone to act like Borachio? Sliding into the next reason that how he
decided to deliver, and execute the plan, Borachio tells Conrad word for word what
they had setup. On one part of the explanation he offends ancient people called
Pharaohs soldiers which the side notes state are people drowned in the Red Sea,
and he totally disrespects them. Next he legitimately states that he is telling this
story highly offensive, with intention. Lastly, Borachio he took all the credit of the
plan, was being selfish only to make himself feel better not giving kudos to
anything else, by saying ...partly by the dark night, which did deceive them, but
chiefly by my villainy. This just show he is not accepting the fact that he didn t do
everything himself, and some was luck rather than skill. Borachio is just a ruthless
bastard, by how he went on to carry out, and spread the
The Importance Of Student Success At Anaheim High
School
Do you believe the amount of time spent at school influences how smart you are or
how well you do in school? At Anaheim High School if you ask students if they
study at home, maybe about 50% of the students will tell you that they do and the
other 50% will tell you that they do, but not as often as they should be. Majority of
the students do very well on tests and other academic categories, but is all the
material they are learning staying in their memory? There is only six hours of school,
five days a week. It is most likely that not all of the information we have been told
on a daily basis will stay in our memory for the next day. In order to increase student
success at Anaheim High School, they should increase the time in class. In the essay
Marita s Bargain written by Gladwell, it states that when they increased the amount
of time their students spent in each class, it helped them enhance in different
academic categories, I think that extended amount of time gives you the chance as
a teacher to explain things, and more time for the kids to sit and digest everything
that s going on to review, to do things at a much slower pace (10). This is clarifying
the idea that the more time you have in class it gives you the opportunity to process
every bit of information you are given. You do not have to rush throughout your work
or feel pressured to finish your assignments on time. This concept should be
encouraged in order to improve the consistency in the students GPA s.
Grapes of Wrath
AP Language, Per. 5
12 January 2013
Grapes of Wrath Analysis The cold, soaked earth, which was a source of life not too
long ago, abducts a young child while the mother can only watch hopelessly as the
husband shovels mounds of dirt. This event is not too different than most that
citizens living during the Dust Bowl had to deal with. The self destructive nature
caused the American people to keep expanding and shaping the land as they saw fit.
Because of this they overworked the land which, combined with drought, caused the
Dust Bowl. The big corporations soon bought out most of the land in the Mid West
and many families were soon forced to make their living by other means. The shift of
these families out west to a limited number of jobs ... Show more content on

Steinbeck finishes the section with another usage of asyndeton to describe all of
the things that these men can do to drive the earth to produce or in modern terms:
control the wealth of the country. In (chapters 6 13), the landscape of California
changes for the worst as Steinbeck tries to describe the damage that the men have
inflicted on California. Steinbeck s diction with words such as rot , waste , and
decay associate the former Edenic Califronia with a deathly image. This diction
corresponds with the shift in imagery that shows meat turning dark and crop
shriveling on the ground along with black shreds(of cherries) hanging from
them(the seeds) ; further depicting the change of landscape of California. Instead
of valleys in which fruit blossoms , the valley expels an odor of sweet decay
showing the horrible state that California has turned in to under the guidance of the
understanding men. Steinbeck also uses strong imagery to depict plentiful pears
falling heavily to the ground and splashing on the ground ; a symbol Steinbeck
also changes the main theme of colors from the beautiful pink and green of the
former California to a deathly black. Steinbeck also uses the vernacular of
Californians to show the panic that the farmers feel by expressing such phrases as
We can t do it. and We can t pay wages, no matter what wages. putting the reader in to
the mind of the farmers to experience that panic and
Importance Of Budgeting Is Not Hard Even For Younger
Children
Cents and Sensibility
Group 5 : Jasmine, Hayden, Trey
What are the basic steps to managing your money? Everyone needs a plan in saving
money, especially kids. In this paper, we will outline the best money saving
concepts to help build a budget that works. Teaching kids early to work within a
budget pays off big for them down the road. Even when very young, kids are ready
for the basic idea in how to save and spend money and as they get older, if parents
include them in their own budget planning it will help their children develop good
money habits from the start. The concept of budgeting is not hard even for younger
children. The hard part building good money habits at an early age. These habits,
especially the bad habits, have had the chance to take root are very hard to break.
So how do you start to manage money at an early age? For beginners, parents need to
be role models. When parents are doing financial planning, they need to let the
kids sit in on some of the decision making. This is called a household spending plan.
This plan involves all members of the family. They can help out by identifying what
is important to spend money on. They can watch their parents write down a list and
use this list for decision making process. It will help in determining final goals for
the family and what is important to spend their money on monthly. Everyone in the
family needs to be in agreement in order for the budgeting process to be successful. It
is important

Silent Manipulation Alex Proyas’ film I, Robot
From the moment humans are born, they are shaped by the world around them
and chances are that the media plays a huge role in shaping their identity. To the
music they listen to, to fashion trends, to their beliefs, the news outlets and
television shows could be held responsible. In 2004, the media had a much greater
influence over American citizens because of the historical context of the time.
Alex Proyas film I, Robot had taken advantage of the fact that people had become
so easily influenced by the media. Set in the year 2035, a robotics company named
US Robotics has engulfed American life to the point where every household has a
robot, and citizens have become dependent on their help. Sonny, a robot
programmed with the ability to think, feel and have dreams enables a robot fearing
detective named Del Spooner to see through the lies of the corporation. Through the
use of Sonny s character development, subtle advertisement sequences, and distinct
film choices such as the context of specific scenes, Proyas is able to portray the
suppression of thought and individuality in a futuristic society told what to think and
feel through US Robotics media propaganda. Through this, Proyas is indirectly
criticizing the 2004 audience in which was being told what to think and how to feel
through the various media outlets that would report on the political campaigns
happening at the time as well as the fear of the ongoing war with Iraq. At one point,
Sonny becomes captured by the police
Compare And Contrast The New England Middle And
Southern...
Introduction
The New England, Middle and Southern colonies were the part of the New World
which used to belong to the British. Although the colonies all had good things, all of
the regions had things that didnВґt help them grow as a region. Some colonies had
rocky soil for example. Having a good climate and a good topography is part of
agriculture, having materials to work is part of manufacturing. If no one has the right
materials than the most probable thing to happen is that people will not be as
productive as with the right materials.
Industry
Each of the three regions had different types of industry. The New England colonies
used to do shipbuilding activities, lumbering and fishing. In England the Pilgrims
built the Mayflower. That boat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

junction was made by the Duke of York. The Southern colonies were settled by the
Puritans, the Puritans who settled in the Southern colonies settled mostly for
economic reasons. The Puritans usually would take African slaves for the Southern
Colonies.
When it was founded
The New England colonies where entirely founded when the Rhode Island was

was New Hampshire which was founded by John Wheelwright. The Middle
Colonies was totally founded when William Penn founded Pennsylvania in 1682.
The first colony from the Middle Colonies to be founded was Peter Minuit in 1626.
The Southern colonies were completely founded when Georgia was founded byJames

Analysis Of Maxine Hong Kingston s The Woman Warrior
Kejsi Drenova
Paper 2
In The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston makes her narration compelling and
relatable to the audience through her unique style of storytelling. The ever present
changes in perspective lead one to see how each event eventually affects Kingston.
Her comparison of her life to that of Fa Mu Lan brings out the difficulties in her
living in America while her mother had grown up in China. This hero myth allows
her to connect to those values that Brave Orchid holds which make her so hard on
her daughter. The telling of Brave orchid s talk stories in first person makes their
events more relatable to Kingston, which makes the 4th chapter s telling in the
third person all the more jarring and thought provoking. All in all, Kingston s
writing style in this novel serves to make it evoke a powerful sense of relatability
and understanding of her plight. The novel is constantly changing perspectives in
such a manner that a reader feels as though all of the events transpiring are all part
of Kingston s lived experience. The main perspectives present are those of Brave
Orchid, Kingston s brother, and Kingston both as herself and as Fa Mu Lan in her
fictional narrative. These perspective changes serve a number of purposes. The first,
of course, keeps the story very interesting. The changes in narration keep the story
from feeling too stale. The main purpose of these perspective changes is, however, to
highlight the feelings of displacement and alienation from both
The Importance Of Western Hegemony In An Antique Land
What exactly is western hegemony? This question can be easily answered with a
couple of minutes using google. To save your time though I will answer it for you.
Hegemony is defined as, the social, cultural, ideological, or economic influence
exerted by a dominant group (Merriam Webster). Western hegemony is the west
exerting hegemony on the east. This has been an ongoing theme for some time
now. The west is considered more advanced or better than other countries. This is in
the heads of the people of the east at all times as they compare themselves to the
west. In An Antique Land is a book written by an Indian writer, Amitav Ghosh, in the
year of 1992. The book has two main stories throughout it. This provides for a very
interesting read. It goes back and forth between Ghosh and his anthropological
adventure in Egyptand in ancient documents covering Ben Yuji and his slave Bomma
that were alive in the 12th century. Ghosh switches the views usually through
different chapters and it is easy to follow from where he left off from each side.
Ghosh lives with Islamic Egyptiansand studies them and how they live while
learning more about their view of the west and its hegemony. This book is full of
evidence of western hegemony on the account of Amitav Ghosh and his
acquaintances while he is in Egypt. He expresses many different scenes in the book
that display Egyptian view s of the western cultureand military power. With their
view comes all sorts of misconceptions and

This isn t the only time he has felt the need to take responsibility for his team s
success. At the end of just about every close game, everyone watching knows that
Michael Jordan is taking the ball to take the last shot, and with some deadly
precision. He has made over 25 game winning shots in his career, all with the same
amount of greatness (Is Michael Jordan the Greatest). One of the greatest things
about Jordan was the legacy that he left on the NBA when he retired. After the
Chicago Bulls retired his jersey, the Number 23 has been made legendary in
basketball because of Jordan. When people like Lebron try to wear Jordan s
number, people will always see him living in Jordan s shadow. His shoes are still
one of the highest selling shoes. Who wouldn t want to wear the shoes of the
greatest basketball player of all time? If you ask a random person if they know
who Michael Jordan is, it is very likely they will know who he was, what team he
played for, what his number was, and that he was the greatest basketball player of all
time. Not too many people in the history of sports have that kind of reputation around
the world.
Michael Jordan was the greatest because of his amazing statistics, his undeniable
ability to win, and his lasting effect on the NBA. It will be a very long time, if ever,
that there will be a player who was better than Jordan. While there are very many
people in the NBA that are extremely talented, none of them stand
Grants In Nonprofit Organizations
Grants are a sum of money that donors and the public give to public or private
organizations in order for the organization to complete a specific purpose. Moreover,
grants are usually accompanied by grant seeking strategies such as writing a grant
proposal, time management, and a competitive process. More importantly, many
nonprofit organizations rely completely of grants that usually come in the form of
endowment, subsidy, scholarships and donations in which the professional staff and
board members are entitled to finance crucial projects, monitor grant recipients, and
try to achieve legitimacy and respect among the community. Similarly, nonprofit

Furthermore, grantmakers, are in charge of building confidence and critical skills to
grant recipients in order continuing supporting their necessities. More importantly,
grantmakers play a critical role of applicant eligibility, financially supporting, and

process since nonprofit organizations rely specifically on the positive impact that
grant recipients make after the disbursement of funds. Another function that grant
makers are in charge is the financial management of funds in which they must report
the use of money utilized by the organization. In addition, grant makers must acquire
building capacity of communicating the performance of other to board members and
to establish relationships with members of other organizations and with donors.
Ultimately, grant seekers are in charge of helping nonprofit organizations to construct
and preserve the mission and infrastructure of the foundation. Moreover grant seekers
face the challenge of financial sustainability and the responsibilities attached to
grants. They are in charge of actively operating the grants and establishing limits or
restrictions on contributions in order to secure the nonprofit success. More

The subject is multifaceted, encompassing legal, medical, social, and ethical dimensions. Crafting a compelling essay requires thorough research to understand the historical context, current legal frameworks, and the diverse perspectives surrounding marijuana use. One of the challenges lies in presenting a balanced argument. While advocating for legalization, it's essential to acknowledge and address potential concerns related to public health, safety, and regulatory issues. Striking the right balance between presenting factual information and expressing a persuasive stance requires a careful and nuanced approach. Additionally, the landscape of marijuana legalization is constantly evolving. Laws and public opinions change, and new research emerges. • 2. Imperialism In Jane Samson s The British Empire Some of the most renowned British individuals of the 18th and early 19th Centuries were writing and commenting on the early stages of imperialism in British history. While some were not pleased with the way the empire was introducing imperialism, the overall consensus was that the empire was advancing through trade and exploration. That being said, the various individuals in Jane Samson s The British Empireprovide interesting points of view that tell us how exploration merged with the introduction of free trade in the empire to create new opportunities for a developing Britain that is still present today. To begin, one must be aware that the economic system of Britain at the time, mercantilism, was a subject of debate among various British

  • 4. Comparing And Contrasting Colonial America Kristen Schimmoller Dr. Kenneth Shefsiek History 105 2 October 2014 Comparing and Contrasting Colonial America In the seventeenth century, colonial America was categorized into three major regions; New England, the Middle Colonies, and the South. Each region provided various opportunities and breakthrough ideas that created a distinct economic, cultural, and political society different from any other region. These ideas became the beginning of some prominent themes and beliefs Americans see as essential in today s society. As the Protestant Reformation lead to oppression of outside opinions and beliefs, many peoples took this opportunity to start anew in colonial America. However, each region adopted a slightly different religion. For example, New England became a stable platform for Protestants. As the Church of England underwent radical changes, some Englishmen opposed these changes due to their striking similarities to Catholicism, and therefore sought a new religion, Protestantism (Foner p.64). In order to avoid oppression and discrimination of their new religion in England, many fled to America in hopes of seeking religious tolerance. Some settled in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania. Protestantism preached about the importance of sermons, equality, and even adopted John Calvin s idea of pre determined salvation (Foner p. 65). Winthrop and the first settlers of Massachusetts set up a Commission in which Puritan beliefs governed society. For example,

The Family of six, was introduced to cosa nostra otherwise known as the Mafia as soon as their father began his own business and became a man of influence. Troubles did occur, as tension between other families rose threatening their safety which forced them to move back to Italy. Later on in the years, after returning to Italy. In 1931, Joseph Bonanno married Fay Labruzzo, and one year later had their first child Salvatore Bill Bonanno. Now as the Family was progressing, as should the business be progressing as well. Therefore, the action plan was to spread throughout to Canada and that is where Carmine Galante current underboss took over. The then Montreal Mafia Boss Vincent Contrini, spoke of involving the idea of drugtrafficking into the Bonanno business. Along with many other bosses, that may or many not have been opposed of the idea as many of them were already apart of this money making ordeal such as the Luciano Family and the Managano Family. It became aware to the government, due to the many bosses that were coming from all around to get together in Apalachin, New York. The story became nationwide after many agents from the FBI caught the mobsters red handed, after having to chase them through the woods. As many of them were arrested, but none were found guilty for any crimes. The FBI would then keep an eye out, as it was harder for meetings to be arranged from that point
  • 6. An Description Of An Ecological Footprint Essay Introduction An ecological footprint tells us how much land and sea area is required to produce the resources and living necessities for some number of human beings upon it , as well as how much that area of land or sea absorbs carbon dioxide emissions. But it also helps us tell how much our particular land/sea area used for living compared to the land/sea area available on the planet (thus one might say, as in my case, that if everyone lived like me we would require 3.9 earths to allow for them to live, sustainably). ========== An ecological footprint is an important unit of measurement to have because it helps give us some indication about the total amount of resources we are using, and some of its effect on the planet. Thus a footprint can help us reach a better level of sustainable living by giving us some way to measure our progress towards or away from that particular goal (where otherwise we would have no way of telling truly how sustainably we were living). ========== Analysis ========== If everyone lived like me, we would need 3.9 earths to provide the necessary resources. To support my lifestyle, it would take 17.4 global acres of the Earth s productive area (or 17 tons of carbon dioxide). Most of which, over 55% would be for energy/land. About 13% would be necessary for crop land. About a 4% would be needed for grazing. About 18% would be forested land, along with roughly 7% of built up land and roughly 3% in fishing grounds. (All of these measurements
  • 7. Reading Choosing Civility For English 102 And Most Useful... Prompt 1: To date, what has been your favorite and/or most useful assignment or activity and why? I find that the short writes number nine and ten were my favorite and most useful assignments given. They allowed me to write about myself and what I was doing. Since we had to test the rules stated in Choosing Civility, it allowed me to experience what I was writing about. I enjoyed testing several of the rules because of how complicated some can be to test. It helped me learn that by following some of the rules civility is possible. This was an assignment that did not involve research and more hands on experiences, which I find more enjoyable. Prompt 2: In what way(s) has 102 changed your way of thinking? Reading Choosing Civility in English 102 changed my way of thinking completely. The assignments helped me expand my research and analysis skills. Also, just reading the book opened me up to civility in general. The short write assignments for this book also expanded my understanding of civility. I have found myself being more civil ever since I read the book. Prompt 3: Reflect on the annotated bibliography experience. How did it help you in writing or preparing to write your position paper? Unlike many students, I did not mind doing the annotated bibliography. I found that it took a long time to complete. It was a challenge to find scholarly articles and use the databases. Even though it was time consuming and a challenge if found it beneficial. It was my first
  • 8. The Pros And Cons Of The Homeland Security System The homeland security system of the United States has a seemingly impossible task of preventing all attacks on each and every aspect of our country. It is an extremely dangerous world we live in with countless number of people that want to destroy our way of life. There have been several improvements made to our securitysystem. To fully critique the capabilities of the homeland security system of the United States, I m going to evaluate the performance, identify the shortcomings, and then lastly suggest some improvements to prevent future challenges. One of the best way to critique the capabilities of something is to look at the facts, and the patterns that have occurred. Since the creation of the Department of Homeland Security as we know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We need to be much more selective on who enters this country. Especially when there are other countries are in the middle of a civil war, leaving the world with millions of refugees to deal with. Our borders lack the security needed to ensure no one enters the country illegally. After these two have been accomplished we have stopped the bleeding , and only then we will be able to limit the amount of lone wolf attackers in our country. Neither of these two strategies effect our civil liberties that are protected by the constitution. After we have done as much as we possibly can to eliminate an outside threat, we need to try and stand united. We need strong leaders in every level of government to keep us focused on who the real enemy is. Lastly, we need to figure out a strategy of identifying who U.S. citizens are mentally ill and need medical attention. The last thing we need is a medically ill person driving when they shouldn t be, or purchasing firearms when they should be. A friend or a loved one should be able to recognize an issue and alert the proper authorities before something tragic happens. If we are going to improve the future of the homeland security system, we have to stay one step ahead. We have to do our best at predicting where the enemy is going to be. We have to realize where our greatest vulnerabilities are. We have to constantly evaluate our system, and try to prioritize how are defensive assets are

You can t spend millions of dollars to build your brand name and mindshare before influencing the consumers to purchase your product. So, what do you do? You tweak your product until it meets their needs and you hit the viral button to make growth sky rocket exponentially. It is a matter of survival for startups. You have no luxury of time nor money as it is a matter of life and death for your business. The whole company is focused on the same goal: Get the product right for the customers to justify the existence of the startup. We now have a term for this: Growth Hacking. This term was coined by Sean Ellis in 2010 where he blog about a growth hacker as a person whose true north is growth. Everything they do is scrutinized by its potential impact on scalable growth . • 16. Argumentative Essay About A Soccer Game I happened to be on outdoor sandy field experiencing different mixed emotions as I saw people with several face expression at the end of the big soccer game. It was exhausting and unforgiving game that got some players injured, and caused the bad sportsmanship to take place between the coaches, players, and fans. Our fans and our rival s fans fought each other, and they threw stuff across the stadium as if they were dealing with a gigantic wild animal. Some of the playerscouldn t fully focus on their soccer match due to their divided attention, and some of them were terrified by the fan s unnecessary acts. Whenever I think about this moment, I cry and smile at same time because we finally understood the meaning of fair play of soccer, and happy ending of our game occurred as a result of that. I knew before the game that the unsportsmanlike conduct would happen, it really did as I thought, but besides our soccer game s dirty side, it appeared to be more captivating by the way it was played than any other game. I believe that there were three causes for the ungentlemanly behavior that we faced during the tournament. Both my team and the rival team fought to death in order to win the important soccer league because neither of the teams made it to the final game before. They always face each other during the knockout games which made them rivals. Finally, the beauty of the game also had an effect for why the match took place to be played dirty. Once the
  • 17. A Note On The Value Of Physical Contact Humans are oriented around touch. Babies crave nurturing and nearness to their mother from the minute they exit the womb. Something as simple as a warm embrace can wipe sorrow and stress away. This need for physical contact is the reason why letters carry so much more value than an email or text message. Letters are tangible: they re a piece of paper that can be stored in a drawer or tacked up on a wall. They require time and attention to write, so they are able to convey such an emotional closeness people who are far away. There is such a stark contrast between dialogue and text: people are often more willing to honestly write down their feelings to express them aloud. That is why Mark Dunn held true to the passions of his hyper literate Nollopians by deciding write his debut novelentirely in letters; they mean something to people, especially those who are in love. Mittie is a prime example of this concept seeing as she keeps a box of all the letters she had received from Amos dating back long before the alphabet began to fall apart. Reading these letters her mother had treasured actually gave Ella a sense of comfort when she was almost entirely alone on Nollop: I miss ewe all teeplee. I reat letters teer, sweet letters ewe wrote to Pop warm, engaging letters Pop wrote to eww...I reat tem to gain neeted inspiration (Dunn 187). Letters, such as the ones written by Mittie and Amos, have a way of revealing the author s personality, their voice to put it in English terms.

Because of this, it is been taught for millennials that meat is an essential to our bodies for survival and health. While we are capable of eating meat, the question is, should we? Firstly, humans do not need to eat meat, or any other animal products for that matter, for survival. Modern day humans are not living in the same conditions as early humans were, making it unnecessary for us to consume animal products. One of the most common arguments is that our ancestors ate it, so so should we. Humans have had omnivorous diets since the beginning of mankind, and this has been an argument that is oftenly used against veganism. Early humans were scavengers and ate whatever they could find for the purpose of survival and it is believed that humans ate a majority of meat, however scientific studies have shown otherwise. In a study conducted, plant derived fiber was the majority of what was found in early human feces (nutritionfacts.org). Vegaprocity (vegaprocity.com) shows that both carnivores and omnivores require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, while all herbivores, frugivores, and humans do require fiber to stimulate peristalsis, however in America, usually less than half the recommended fiber intake a day is consumed (nutritionfacts.org). The Minority question that arose following the war, albeit important, was not as much of a destabilizing force in this time as people like to think. It was only the byproduct of events that took place. These events include the publishing of the fourteen points, the settlements made during the Paris Peace conference, and the creation of state constitutions. The minority question was, in essence, the straw that broke the camel s back, breaking the already damaged infrastructure of post war Europe. In order to answer the question on why minority rights became such a destabilizing force after the war, we must first look at what caused this problem to become the forefront of many European minds. Two pivotal events took place following the war that left stains on Europe; stains that, to some, indirectly led to the start of World War 2. The first and most important event was the publishing of Woodrow Wilsons fourteen points on January 8, 1918. These points were created in the hope to promote peace and harmony among the recently war stricken nations of Europe. One prominent point that came from this document was the idea of self determination. This encouraged people to form their own nation where they could choose rulers and live amongst others who share the same culture. This piqued the interest of the millions of people living in the various, and heavily

Buffy the Vampire Slayer s debut in 1997 reinforces the concept that ...since the late 1990s/early 2000s, the sympathetic vampire...has become distinctly more common in popular fiction and film than the monstrous stereotype as a vicious killer (qtd. in Parke and Wilson 179). Throughout the Buffy series, one of Buffy s main love interests has been Angel, an outcast vampire who has empathy for humans (e.g., he does not harm humans unless provoked, he protects Buffy and her friends from other vampires). As opposed to the other vampires in Buffy, Angel has a soul and experiences guilt for his past crimes. Writer Lorna Jowett (of Buffy, Dark Romance and Female Horror Fans) introduces the idea that Buffy the Vampire Slayer has impacted science fiction (paranormal, in particular) by a theme of dark romance : ...its male protagonists are powerful and dangerous, often presented as stereotypical bad boys, and the fact that they are vampires or werewolves positions them naturally , both monstrosity and masculinity (qtd in Stuller 92). A notable bad boy in Buffy is the vampire, Spike: he is a soulless and sadistic who eventually rebels against the Anointed One (a supernatural being who is prophesized to lead vampires into power). Although Spike is portrayed as a merciless killer, he is devoted to his first lover (Drusilla) although his commitment to her was not reciprocal and reveals a softer side of himself to Buffy when he helps her cope with her death and resurrection. Although Buffy and Spike develop a romantic relationship, he accepts that she will never be able to fully return his feelings. • 35. Summary Of Walker Percy sThe Loss Of The Creature Progression 1 Close Reading Walker Percy s essay, The Loss of the Creature, points out a growing problem with the state of humanity: People have lost their ability to evaluate worth on their own, in what Percy refers to as their sovereignty. Percy delivers his message without most of the technical jargon one would expect. In doing so, the problem he points out seems like something that is accessible to the average person, rather than a concept that is far from our understanding. To begin his inquiry of life and sovereignty, Percy argues why a person can t see the Grand Canyon for what it is. Percy tells the story of a famous explorer, Garcia Lopez de Cardenas, who was astonished by his discovery of what is now known as the Grand Canyon. Percy briefly describes The Grand Canyon, and then he asks a question that might confuse readers at first. Percy asks, Does not one see the same sight from the Bright Angel Lodge that CГЎrdenas saw (Percy 1)? The anticipated answer that most readers would say is yes, but as one reads on, Percy argues otherwise. In following up on his question, he attempts to make his point clear by assigning the label P to Cardenas Grand Canyon experience. (Percy 1) He argues that when sharing the value of P with millions of sightseers, each person doesn t receive the same experience of Cardenas, result in one millionth of its worth. By using values to demonstrate worth, Percy says that experiences can be added to and taken from them. Next, Percy

This is shown throughout the book as the four girls, Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy were so kind and often tried to do things that make others happy and don t expect anything in return. This characteristic is evident when Beth said I ll tell you what we ll do, let s each get her (their dear mother) something for Christmas, and not get anything for ourselves (6). In this scene, the four sisters, who get along beautifully, were sitting by the fire and when they notice how worn out their mother s slippers were. Initially, they didn t get any gifts or presents for Christmas since their father was away at war and they had to save money so they decided to use a little of their hard earned money to each buy something for themselves. But after seeing the condition of Marmee s slippers, they decide to use their own money to buy something nice for their mother. This quote shows utilitarianism because the Beth, Meg, Jo, and Amy all give up their own hard earned money to do something nice and considerate for someone else. Essentially, the four loving sisters thought of doing something to make someone happy and put themselves aside for a while. Another Victorian literature characteristic shown in this book is social classstructure. This is evident throughout the entire novel because Meg, Beth, Jo, Amy, and Marmee are all quite poor and face many different issues
