This document outlines the 7 main steps to delineate a watershed from a DEM using ArcGIS:
1) Create a DEM from SRTM data and reproject it to UTM.
2) Remove sinks and errors from the DEM using the Fill tool.
3) Generate a flow direction raster using the Flow Direction tool.
4) Generate a flow accumulation raster using the Flow Accumulation tool.
5) Map stream channels by selecting cells with over 400 upstream cells.
6) Assign each stream segment a unique number using the Stream Link tool.
7) Generate the watershed boundaries using the Watershed tool.

The basic premise is, a swath profile "looks off to the side" along each step in a standard profile line, and calculates min/mean/max elevation, hence producing a statistically-relevant 2-d approximation of topography.

coordinates either by adding some values with original coordinates(Translations) or Multiplying some
values with original coordinates(called Linear transformations like rotation, reflection, scaling, and
shearing). In this paper, we compress a two dimensional picture using 2D scaling transformation. In the
several scenarios, the utilization of this technique for image compression resulted in comparable or better
performance, when compared to the Different modes of image transformations. In this paper We tried a
new code for compressing an 2d gray scale image using scaling transform methods. Matlab concepts are
applied to compress the image. We have plan to apply The techniques and develop a code for compressing
a 3d image.

An overlay operation is much more than a simple merging of linework; all the attributes of the features taking part in the overlay are carried through. In general, there are two methods for performing overlay analysis—feature overlay (overlaying points, lines, or polygons) and raster overlay. Some types of overlay analysis lend themselves to one or the other of these methods. Overlay analysis to find locations meeting certain criteria is often best done using raster overlay (although you can do it with feature data). Of course, this also depends on whether your data is already stored as features or raster. It may be worthwhile to convert the data from one format to the other to perform the analysis.
Weighted Overlay
Overlays several raster files using a common measurement scale and weights each according to its importance.
The weighted overlay table allows the calculation of a multiple criteria analysis between several raster files.
Raster- The raster of the criteria being weighted.
Influence- The influence of the raster compared to the other criteria as a percentage of 100.
Field- The field of the criteria raster to use for weighting.
Remap- The scaled weights for the criterion.
In addition to numerical values for the scaled weights in Remap, the following options are available:
Restricted- Assigns the restricted value (the minimum value of the evaluation scale set, minus one) to cells in the output, regardless of whether other input raster files have a different scale value set for that cell.
No data - Assigns No Data to cells in the output, regardless of whether other input raster files have a different scale value set for that cell.

Ecrin Saphir Tutorial
Initialization
This turotial is an introduction to the basic features of Saphir. It is assumed that you have installed Ecrin
workstation or Saphir stand alone to follow this session. The session can be followed in all levels of Saphir
except the Saphir reader.
The session will use the following files provided in the tutorial directory: SapGS01.rat, the rate file and
SapGS01.pre, the pressure file. The extension to the files is not important here as any ASCII file can be
loaded by the application.
Click on new project icon directly from toolbar.
This opens in succession two dialogs:

This dialog allows you to choose the test type, reference fluid type, the available fluid rates, net drained
thickness, well radius and average porosity. Set the reference time to Dec 4, 1999 at 00:06:45 hours. Keep
all other parameters as the suggested default.
Click
You input the PVT characteristics; formation volumes factor, the fluid viscosity and the system
compressibility. Keep all values at their suggested defaults.
Click to create the new project. The Saphir main screen is displayed.

The main screen is opened with the 'Interpretation' page active. This page (or panel) contains six icons
and by clicking consecutively on the icons from top to bottom, executing the dialogs and instructions, you
will follow exactly the default path of the basic workflow used in pressure transient analysis.
Loading Data
Click . This will initialize the load sequence which is normally a sequence of two dialogs. Specify
an ASCII file in the 'Define Data Source' dialog and click on to browse to the file SapGS01.rat in the
tutorial directory. A preview of the file will be shown in the dialog as illustrated in Figure below.

Click to go to the Data Format dialog. Saphir has recognized the file as valid and has
automatically assigned the first column as 'Decimal Time' and the second as 'Oil Rate'. This is known as
'free format'. The units are correct so no need to change the formatting proposed by Saphir. See Figure
Below.

Click on to load the flow rate file. A history plot with the loaded flowrate file in steps is
displayed. Double click in the title bar of the plot to maximize it and display the scales.
A click on the time button in the time scale will change the scale to real time (ToD) as
defined with the reference date and time at startup. Minimize the plot.

Objectives: The objective of this exercise is to become familiar with operational-level signal timing software. The software you will use is the implementation of the Highway Capacity Manual 2010. General notes regarding this lab:
· The intersection you will be using for analysis is Lake Mary Rd. and High Country Trail. Take a look at this intersection on Google Maps. Draw a rough sketch of the intersection, showing lane usage. Be sure to include a North Arrow, as well as movements (with numbers….use movement 2 for Northbound through). (2)
· Operational data for this intersection is provided in the file ‘Lab6data.xlsx’ open this file.
· The timing data given is for pretimed 2-phase operation. What is the cycle length given? (1)
Background: The HCS2010 software does not exactly duplicate the HCM 2010 methods but it is reasonably close. One difference is in the optimization algorithms, which are specific to the software and are not specified in the HCM 2010.
The software will not design your timing plan for you (It can, but we will not be using that option). It is used as a calculation tool to help you determine which combination of green interval lengths and cycle length provide the best LOS (or lowest delay) with safe operation.
A proper phase plan is a critical aspect of signal timing design. Once the phase plan has been developed, most of the signal timing can be systematically treated in a deterministic fashion. There are several important considerations you need to keep in mind when establishing a phase plan for your intersection:
1. Safety: Phasing can be used to minimize accident risks by separating the competing movement. A traffic signal always eliminates the basic through crossing conflicts present at the intersections.
2. Lost time per cycle: In addition, left-turn protection can also be used to eliminate the conflicts between left-turning movements and the opposing through movement. However, additional phasing can also lead to more lost time per cycle and therefore additional delay.
3. Sat flow rates for LTs: While increasing the number of phases also increases the total lost time in the cycle, a benefit is that this also increases the affected left-turn saturation flow rates. This in turn can lead to less delay.
Lab Steps:
1. Open the HCS2010 software on a PC in Rm. 114 or 113. Open the traffic signals module.
2. When you start a new traffic signal file, a dialog box will appear asking you to verify settings of the intersection. The only setting you need to adjust is that of the forward direction, which is used for arterial analysis. Even though we will only be working with one intersection, you should still choose NB for this. All other settings can be left at their default.
