Creating Rapport
Building up a good relationship or rapport
with your conversation partner is
important, especially in the early stages of
the conversation. Personality plays a part,
but some simple language patterns help.
Creating Rapport
Use the words we (all), us (all), our and
ours when you can.
Basically, we want to achieve the same
thing. Our goal is solving this problem.
Creating Rapport
Use question tags to push for agreement.
And we all know what that means, don’t
we?
Creating Rapport
Use negative question forms to appeal to
your conversation partner.
Haven’t we all had similar experiences at
one time or another?
Creating Rapport
So during your conversation keep referring
back to your conversation partner as an
individual.

Using a few simple words and phrases
which do not mean very much will change
the tone of your conversation and make it
less formal and more friendly.

Creating Rapport

  • 2. Creating Rapport Building up a good relationship or rapport with your conversation partner is important, especially in the early stages of the conversation. Personality plays a part, but some simple language patterns help.
  • 3. Creating Rapport Use the words we (all), us (all), our and ours when you can. Basically, we want to achieve the same thing. Our goal is solving this problem.
  • 4. Creating Rapport Use question tags to push for agreement. And we all know what that means, don’t we?
