COVID-19 Pandemic
Abstract
Background
Student mental health in higher education has been an increasing concern. The
COVID-19 pandemic situation has brought this vulnerable population into renewed
focus.
Objective
Our study aims to conduct a timely assessment of the effects of the COVID-19
pandemic on the mental health of college students.
Methods
We conducted interview surveys with 195 students at a large public university in
the United States to understand the effects of the pandemic on their mental health
and well-being. The data were analyzed through quantitative and qualitative
methods.
Results
Of the 195 students, 138 (71%) indicated increased stress and anxiety due to the
COVID-19 outbreak. Multiple stressors were identified that contributed to the
increased levels of stress, anxiety, and depressive thoughts among students.
Conclusions
Due to the long-lasting pandemic situation and onerous measures such as
lockdowns and stay-at-home orders, the COVID-19 pandemic brings negative
impacts on higher education.

Drugs
Abstract
Background
Research collaborations between people who use drugs (PWUD) and researchers
are largely underutilized, despite the long history of successful, community-led
harm reduction interventions and growing health disparities experienced by
PWUD.
Main body
We argue PWUDs embody unparalleled and current insight into drug use
behaviors, including an understanding of novel synthetic drug bodies and the
dynamics at play in the drug market; they also hold intimate and trusting
relationships with other PWUDs.
Conclusion
In order to effectively mitigate the risks posed by the fluid and volatile drug market,
research collaborations must empower PWUD to play meaningful roles in the entirety
of the research process.

Mental Health
Abstract
Research exploring young people's perspectives on mental health is at an early
stage of development and few studies have focused in detail on mental distress or
illness.
Introduction
Within health promotion, there is a growing acknowledgment, in theory, if not
always in practice, of the importance of a lay understanding of health (WHO,
1986; Ashton and Seymour, 1988; Milburn, 1996).
Methods and sampling
The study employed focus group discussions and individual interviews to explore
the young people's views.
Result
One of the main themes to emerge from the interview data concerned the ways in
which young people appeared to construct their understanding of mental illness.
Discussion
The findings reported above provide important insights into the ways in which the
young people's understandings of mental illness were constructed. By drawing on
their personal experience, or on the experience of salient others, the young people
made judgements about what was `normal' behaviour and what was not.

Poverty
Abstract
The concept of poverty is subjective and it varies in many perspectives based on
the indicators used.
Introduction
Poverty hampers the development of any country where a section of the population
is economically marginalized.
Concept
Generally, poverty is defined as an inability to access resources in order to enjoy a
minimal or acceptable living. This is in line with Black (2002) that poverty is
defined as an inability to afford an adequate standard of consumption.
Perspective
The United Nation (UN) suggested two broad concepts of poverty, absolute
poverty and relative poverty that are being used by statistical agencies and
researchers.
Conclusion
There are three basic concepts pertaining to poverty, which have been adopted by
Malaysian government. These are absolute poverty, absolute hardcore poverty and
relative poverty.

Climate Change
Abstract
Background
Climate change is safe to be one of the biggest challenges of mankind. Human
activities, especially the combustion of fossil fuels, contribute to the increase of
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and thus to the pace of climate change.
Result
In terms of absolute publication numbers, the USA was the leading country,
followed by the UK, and China in 3rd place. The steep rise in Chinese publication
numbers over time came into view, while their citation numbers are relatively low.
Conclusion
We could show that there exists an inequity between national research efforts
according to the publication output and the demands and necessities of countries
related to their socioeconomic status.
