What is corona virus?
▪ Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that range from the common cold to
MERS coronavirus, which is Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus
and SARs, Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus.
Where do coronaviruses come from?
 Corona viruses are circulating in animals and some of these coronaviruses
have the capability of transmitting between animals and humans. We call
that a spillover event.
Is there treatment?
There are no specific treatments for coronaviruses, but symptoms can be
treated.
Know about Coronavirus
Common symptoms include:
▪ fever
▪ tiredness
▪ dry cough.
Other symptoms include:
▪ shortness of breath
▪ aches and pains
▪ sore throat
▪ and very few people will report diarrhoea, nausea or a runny nose.
Symptoms of infection
Measures took by Indian government
▪ Sudden First Lockdown for 21days.
▪ Airways services stopped till 30th April
▪ Railways services stopped, till
lockdown.
▪ Ensuring supply of essential
goods/services
▪ Strict actions against people who are
not following lockdown.
▪ Providing essentials goods/services
door to door.
▪ Sanitizing the areas.
▪ Emergency helpline number of help.
Safety measures as per OSH
▪ Encourage regular hand wash.
▪ Sanitizing hands before entering
workplace.
▪ Wearing mask.
▪ Encourage work from home
▪ Maintaining at least 1 meter distance –
social distancing
▪ Staying at home if not well.
▪ Covering face before sneezing with
elbow.
▪ Washing hands every 30min.
Preventive measure
Safe Practice 1.1 - Identify and observe policies and procedures with regard to illness.
 Hon’ PM Mr. Narinder Modi had ordered a nationwide one day lockdown on 22nd March in entire country also called
“Janta Curfew”. Thereafter, extended complete lockdown in the country for 21 days i.e. till 14
th
April.
 PM has requested for maintaining social distancing while work for an essential service like picking up groceries,
medical suppliers and going to doctor.
 UT Administration Chandigarh issued order on 9th April 2020 under Section 22 of Disaster Management Act 2005 and
directed the following measures:
 All person moving for whatever purpose and whatever reason/authority in public places like street, hospital, office
and markets must wear 3-ply or cloth masks compulsory
 Any personal moving around in his personal and official vehicle must be wearing these marks compulsory.
 It is mandatory for wearing of masks for persons working at any site/workplace/office etc.
 No person/officer/officials will attend any meeting/gathering without wearing these masks.
 These Masks may be standard marks with the chemists or even homemade washable masks and can be reused after
proper washing and disinfecting them.
 It shall be the responsibility of employer to ensure that his/her employees wear the 3-ply or cloth mask without fail.
 Anybody violating these instructions will be punishable under Section 188 of India Panel Code(48 of 1860) and police
authorities are empowered to immediately arrest the violators .
Safe Practices during Pandemic of COVID 19 (as per NSQF
Curriculum)
Safe Practice 1.2 - Report supervisor/ competent of authority in the event of sickness and taking
correct actions according to illness.

 In the event of sickness:
 If anybody have the symptoms of COVID-19, then he/she should contact his/her doctor.
 Collection of throat swab samples and advise to quarantine at home while waiting for the results.
 If the results are positive then they quarantine otherwise they advised to stay at home and eat healthy food.
 Taking Corrective Actions: In case of positive corona patient-
 Immediately admit the patient at special quarantine wards of hospitals.
 Check travel history of the patient.
 Immediate quarantine his family members and friend & relatives whom he met.
 Sanitization of his/her home and locality.
Safe Practice 1.3 - Identify Personal Productive Equipment (PPE) and use the same as per
related working environment
What is PPE : It is specialised clothing or equipment worn for protection
against dangerous or infectious materials.
Usage: The use without removing for up to 6h, when caring for a
cohort of COVID-19 patients
Removal criteria and precautions:
• If the mask becomes wet, soiled, or damaged, or if it becomes
difficult to breathe through
• If the mask is exposed to splash of chemicals, infectious
substances, or body fluids
• If the mask is displaced from face for any reason.
• If the front of the mask is touched to adjust it
• Follow the safe procedure for removal and do not touch the front
of the mask
• The mask needs to be removed whenever providing care outside a
designated cohort of COVID-19 patients

What is corona virus? ▪ Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that range from the common cold to MERS coronavirus, which is Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus and SARs, Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus. Where do coronaviruses come from?  Corona viruses are circulating in animals and some of these coronaviruses have the capability of transmitting between animals and humans. We call that a spillover event. Is there treatment? There are no specific treatments for coronaviruses, but symptoms can be treated. Know about Coronavirus
  • 3. Common symptoms include: ▪ fever ▪ tiredness ▪ dry cough. Other symptoms include: ▪ shortness of breath ▪ aches and pains ▪ sore throat ▪ and very few people will report diarrhoea, nausea or a runny nose. Symptoms of infection
  • 4. Measures took by Indian government ▪ Sudden First Lockdown for 21days. ▪ Airways services stopped till 30th April ▪ Railways services stopped, till lockdown. ▪ Ensuring supply of essential goods/services ▪ Strict actions against people who are not following lockdown. ▪ Providing essentials goods/services door to door. ▪ Sanitizing the areas. ▪ Emergency helpline number of help. Safety measures as per OSH ▪ Encourage regular hand wash. ▪ Sanitizing hands before entering workplace. ▪ Wearing mask. ▪ Encourage work from home ▪ Maintaining at least 1 meter distance – social distancing ▪ Staying at home if not well. ▪ Covering face before sneezing with elbow. ▪ Washing hands every 30min. Safe Practice 1.1 - Identify and observe policies and procedures with regard to illness.  Hon’ PM Mr. Narinder Modi had ordered a nationwide one day lockdown on 22nd March in entire country also called “Janta Curfew”. Thereafter, extended complete lockdown in the country for 21 days i.e. till 14 th April.  PM has requested for maintaining social distancing while work for an essential service like picking up groceries, medical suppliers and going to doctor.  UT Administration Chandigarh issued order on 9th April 2020 under Section 22 of Disaster Management Act 2005 and directed the following measures:  All person moving for whatever purpose and whatever reason/authority in public places like street, hospital, office and markets must wear 3-ply or cloth masks compulsory  Any personal moving around in his personal and official vehicle must be wearing these marks compulsory.  It is mandatory for wearing of masks for persons working at any site/workplace/office etc.  No person/officer/officials will attend any meeting/gathering without wearing these masks.  These Masks may be standard marks with the chemists or even homemade washable masks and can be reused after proper washing and disinfecting them.  It shall be the responsibility of employer to ensure that his/her employees wear the 3-ply or cloth mask without fail.  Anybody violating these instructions will be punishable under Section 188 of India Panel Code(48 of 1860) and police authorities are empowered to immediately arrest the violators . Safe Practice 1.2 - Report supervisor/ competent of authority in the event of sickness and taking correct actions according to illness.  Reporting of COVID- 19: Helpline Number for COVID-19  National Helpline : +91-11-2398046  Chandigarh Helpline : 9779558282  Toll Free : 1075  Helpline Email ID : ncov2019@gov.in  In the event of sickness:  If anybody have the symptoms of COVID-19, then he/she should contact his/her doctor.  Collection of throat swab samples and advise to quarantine at home while waiting for the results.  If the results are positive then they quarantine otherwise they advised to stay at home and eat healthy food.  Taking Corrective Actions: In case of positive corona patient-  Immediately admit the patient at special quarantine wards of hospitals.  Check travel history of the patient.  Immediate quarantine his family members and friend & relatives whom he met.  Sanitization of his/her home and locality.

Safe Practice 1.3 - Identify Personal Productive Equipment (PPE) and use the same as per related working environment What is PPE : It is specialised clothing or equipment worn for protection against dangerous or infectious materials. Usage: The use without removing for up to 6h, when caring for a cohort of COVID-19 patients Removal criteria and precautions: • If the mask becomes wet, soiled, or damaged, or if it becomes difficult to breathe through • If the mask is exposed to splash of chemicals, infectious substances, or body fluids • If the mask is displaced from face for any reason. • If the front of the mask is touched to adjust it • Follow the safe procedure for removal and do not touch the front of the mask • The mask needs to be removed whenever providing care outside a designated cohort of COVID-19 patients
