Limit All Visitors During the COVID-19 Pandemic

If visitors are allowed into the facility:
 Instruct visitors with symptoms of acute respiratory illness
(e.g., fever, cough or shortness of breath) to remain outside
of the facility
 Encourage visitors to be aware of signs and symptoms of
acute respiratory illness
 Follow Govt. guidelines regarding the use of medical masks
or face covers by healthy visitors*
Inform Visitors about Symptoms
 Place visual alerts at facility entrances and
other strategic areas
 Signs should:
• include signs and symptoms of COVID-19
• instruct visitors not to enter the facility if
they have respiratory symptoms
• instruct visitors whom to notify if they have
respiratory symptoms
Restrict Visits to High-risk Patients
 Visitors should not visit patients who are at high
risk for severe illness from COVID-19, such as:
• older adults
• people who live in a nursing home or long-term
care facility
• people of any age with underlying medical
conditions

Precautions while you enter the hospital
 Avoid bringing handbags and wearing watches,
rings, bangles to clinic. Keep your personal
belongings locked in your vehicle or provided
locker.
 Long hair to be kept neatly tied up.
 Mobile phones may be brought in a zip lock cover

 Remove footwear, wash hands & change to hospital
outfit. (Cap, mask, goggles, gloves, footwear/ cover,
gown/apron, etc.)
 Check temperature & enter in log
 If you are suffering from any COVID related
symptoms, please inform manager & do not attend
work. Take appropriate precautions & treatment.

Precautions while you exit the hospital
 Remove Clinic Footwear, change to your own.
 Remove goggles & clean with soap & water & keep it
separately.
 Remove cap & mask and dispose it appropriately.
 Mask should be removed last.
 Change from hospital outfit.
Precautions for Health Care Workers (For Exit from
Hospital)
 Wash your hands with soap & water. Wash your face &
neck before you leave.
 Collect all personal items
 Check temperature again& enter in log
 Leave Clinic
 Take hot water bath immediately after reaching home.
Precautions for Health Care Workers (For Exit from
Hospital)
 Regular corrective spectacles are not considered
adequate eye protection. Goggles with good
adhesion to the face are ideal. They can be reused
after proper disinfection.
 Alternatively if possible use face shields.
 Do not put your hands to your face during
examination.

 3 ply surgical masks are recommended for patients &
health care workers in outpatient clinics.
 Use disposable gloves
 Avoid touching patients while instilling dilating drops.
Instruct patients to pull lower lid down by themselves
or use a bud.

 All proper instructions should be given to the
patients before the examination.
 Maintain adequate physical distance
 Minimize contacts & potential transmission

 If possible do not keep any chair for attendant or patient. If possible make
the patient sit in examination chair directly.
 Careful cleaning of the slit lamp & surfaces after the examination.

Cleaning & Disinfection Protocols
 Entire clinic should be Cleaned with soap & water prior to opening & after
end of OPD
 After drying the same should be Disinfected with 1% Sodium Hypochlorite at
least thrice a day- before OPD, after about 2 hours & after end of OPD. Dilute
1 liter of solution with 5 liters of water.
 Use alcohol based solutions for disinfection of equipments or devices
 The door knob/ touch surfaces can be covered with disposable cap. Dispose
at the end & wipe with sanitizer

 Kindly avoid bringing an attendant. If not possible then
only one attendant is allowed per patient.
 Kindly avoid bringing children to the hospital unless they
are the patients themselves
 The patients and the attendant should wear mask. Sanitize

 Kindly bring minimum personal things like bags, etc.
 Avoid use of mobiles inside the clinic
 Avoid cash payments
 Ensure prior appointment is taken before coming
