bThe costume for Jacob was inspired by middle class
students. Aspects of Jacobs costume reflects casual
smart high street fashion which potential fan of the ages
16-20 will recognise. The regular use of blue matches with
the use of water and rain in the music video which
contradicts with the title of the music video and song as it
is called “Summer Song”.
The grey jumper breaks up the blue and also fits with
current high-street fashion as the ‘smart’ look is very
popular at the moment. A jumper similar to this is used in
the music video “You and I” by One Direction which is a
very popular music video and band.
Jeans and especially blue jeans are one of the most
common pieces of high-street clothes worn in modern
society and so are easily recognisable. It will also make it
easier for the audience to relate to the character if they
wear similar clothes to them.

The inspiration for Sophie’s costume came from
middle class female students. We tried to reflect
the high street fashion of the female potential
audience. The use of black was to connote
darkness and death which are theme’s in our
music video.
The use of a gray t-shirt firstly like in Jacobs
costume brings a change in colour as well as
connecting the two characters through the use of
costume.
The black leather jacket is a statement piece of
costume used by many well known artists such as
Rita Ora. Black jeans are a common piece of
clothing for most 16-24 year olds and have become
more and more fashionable in the past few years.
