2. Georgia (main artist)Georgia (main artist)
We have decided to dress Georgia in a dark coloured
dress. Dresses are a typical convention of a pop artists
costume, so by dressing Georgia like that she will be
going along with the conventions. However, the dark
colours on the dress represent the rock side of the genre
because most rock artists wear dark clothing. We also
wanted Georgia to wear a dark coloured dress instead of
a bright dress because the dark colours represent the
emotions that she is feeling: sad, lonely and depressed.
From my previous research, I have found out that
simplicity is the key with pop-rock artists, they don’t go
overboard with what they wear and they aren’t that big
on fashion. So the dress that Georgia will be wearing will
be causal and plain which allows her to fit in with the
typical conventions of pop-rock artists.
3. GeorgiaGeorgia
Georgia will have a costume
change in one of the scenes.
Georgia will be wearing her
school uniform in the scene
where she is in the library; we
decided to use this costume
because it fits in with the
location as she is in school.
The costume also makes the
video realistic because
teenagers have to wear
school uniform when they’re
at school.
4. Emilie (the other artist)Emilie (the other artist)
Emilie will be wearing a casual top with jeans; this
outfit will consist of dark colours which represent the
rock side of the genre. Pop-rock artists wear casual
outfits, so Emilie will be sticking to the generic
conventions of pop rock artists. Just like Georgia,
the dark colours that Emilie will be wearing
represent the emotions that she is feeling, sad,
isolated and depressed. As Emilie isn’t the main
artist in this video, we decided to dress her in a
more casual and laid back look than Georgia; this
allows the audience to understand who the main
artist is and who isn’t. We also made sure that what
the two artists are wearing suits them and that
they’re comfortable otherwise it would be hard for
them to perform in the music video.
5. Georgia and EmilieGeorgia and Emilie
Georgia and Emilie will have another outfit
change when they are in the kitchen/living room
scene. Both girls will be wearing casual,
comfortable clothes. They will be wearing
leggings with either just a baggy top or an
oversized jumper. We decided to dress the two
artists like this because they will be at their house
so they wouldn’t be wearing anything special, the
outfits make it more realistic because most
people don’t care about what they wear when
they’re at home. It also goes well with the
simplicity of the pop-rock genre, they wont be
wearing anything “attention seeking” or revealing
like what normal pop artists usually do, but since
this is pop-rock they stick to the simple clothing.
6. The dadThe dad
The dad is going to wear jeans with a
casual, plain top; we decided to dress
the dad like this because it is a typical
“dad” thing to wear. We wanted him
to wear simple, plain clothing so that it
would be realistic as most dads don’t
wear fashionable clothes. He will be at
home so we need to make sure that he
is wearing comfortable clothing
because that’s what normal dads
would wear. The jeans and the top will
link in with the generic conventions of a
pop-rock genre because they usually
wear simple clothing and nothing too
expensive.
7. The mumThe mum
The clothes that we chose for the mum are
jeans and a casual top. As she will be in the
kitchen she will have to be wearing
comfortable clothes because she would be
moving about a lot so this is why we have
chosen those clothes as it makes it more
realistic. We might make her wear an apron
to show that she is cooking. The clothing that
she will wear will be simple and plain, just like
the dads, because she is just at home so
there would be no reason why she would get
dressed up. The clothes that she wears will fit
in with the stereotypical view that women
wear aprons in the kitchen, this allows the
audience to realise that she is the artists mum
and that she is a typical, home mum.
8. The drug dealerThe drug dealer
We decided to dress the drug dealer in the typical clothes
that you would expect a dealer to wear, these would be; a
hoodie and tracksuits with trainers. The clothing would be
in dark colours so that the audience know he that he is
secretive and trying to blend in with the darkness of the
night. He will have his hood up throughout his scene as this
is what the stereotypical dealer does because they want
to hide their face. He might be wearing “bling” to show
that what he is doing creates a lot of money for him. We
wanted to go with the stereotypical idea of a drug dealer
because then the audience would instantly know who he is
before he takes the drugs out. The darkness of the clothes
and the night would show the rock side of the genre as the
generic colours that are used in rock videos are dark
colours like black and grey.
