2. Essay on The Effectiveness of Native Title
The Effectiveness of Native Title
The debate about native title issues has tended to see issues from idealistic perspectives ignoring the
practical realities that native title poses to governments, industry and indigenous people. The
implementation of the Native Title is an appropriate and significant aspect of Australia s common and
statute law, which effectively strives to develop a fair outcome for all Australian citizens. The Native
Title Act 1993, like the court Mabo decision in 1992, transforms the ways in, which indigenous
ownership of land may be formally recognised and incorporated within Australian legal and property
regimes. The process of implementation, however, raises a number of ... Show more content on

The aboriginals were not recognised as land owners until the High Court decision of the Mabo case in
1992, which was closely followed by the adoption of the Native Title Act 1993. The decision of the
Mabo case effectively benefits the many aboriginals whose ancestors where unfortunate having had
their land and homes invaded by Europeans in 1788.
There are many stakeholders involved in the dispute revolving around native title however, both the
statue and common law is effective in producing the fairest possible outcomes for all parties involved.
The process of claiming land in more complex then simply applying for the claim, for native title to
exist there must be an ongoing link between the current inhabitant and the ancestors form pre colonial
times. Native title can be extinguished is the holders lose their connection with the land. The
Government believes it has provided a fair and balanced framework for the future by adopting the
Native Title Act in 1993.
The interpretation of native title is often misunderstood, which results in the establishment many
negative opinions regarding native claims. The claim of native title does not mean indigenous people
own the land they claim, it simply gives them the right to a say in the production, development and
use of the land. In some cases aboriginals receive small amounts

4. Stylistic Analysis Of Deception
Inception: An Analysis of the Stylistic Aspects
The stylistic analysis of this paper will be focusing on the techniques used to indicate the dream
realities and the actual reality in the movie Inception by Christopher Nolan. The analysis will be based
on the mise en scene of the movie, especially camera movement, lighting, as well as sound and
editing. When analysing these techniques into detail of three different scenes, differences and
similarities should be spotted between the realities. By analysing these techniques, a conclusion will
be made on whether or not the ending of the movie is the actual reality, or if it is a dream.
The first scene to be analysed is the first dream the audience experiences lasting from 0:02:48 and
until 0:04:26. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At 2:17:18 the audience sees an extreme close up of Dom s face, the focus mostly on his eyes. His
facial expression is one of disbelief, which is also shown in the following shot, a close up of his face,
the camera moving slightly backwards. The nondiegetic sound of the film s score is sentimental,
evoking emotions. In the following shot Dom s eyes move to look at the members of his team, the
camera following in an eye line match. Jumping forward to the very end of this scene, at 2:19:51, we
see Dom coming home. Seven seconds later he is in the centre of the shot, the camera panning slowly
from right to left. As Dom takes his totem, the spinning top, out of his pocket and spins it on the table,
the camera follows his movement, but before Dom gets to see the spinning top fall, a signifier of
reality, he sees his children and the following shot shows the audience the two children, who are out in
the garden and playing. This shot is very close compared to the fact that Dom is inside the house, and
would not be able to see them so closely. The sentimental music is high in volume before becoming
more slow as Dom s children look up and see their father. The lighting in this shot seems to be natural,
but is a tad too high key for it to be completely realistic. In contrast to the lighting on the children, the
lighting inside the house is rather low key, with a golden glow, much like the lighting in the first
analysed scene. Before the scene and movie end, the camera pans from right to left, removing the
focus from Dom and his children and onto the spinning top, which is still spinning when the final cut

9. The Planets And The Celestial Bodies Of Astrology
The Planets (Grammar Check)
Ascertaining the defining characteristics associated with the celestial bodies of astrology will establish
the novice in the fundamentals of astrology, and enhance the comprehension of adept astrologers.
After all, as planets orbit established positions, the axis of astrology encompasses the idiosyncrasies of
the planets. Additionally, a familiarization of Greek and Roman deities benefits the comprehension of
the various planetary personalities.
The Inner Planets
The moon and the five planets closest to the Sun are relatively quick, moving through an astrological
sign in less than a year. Thus, the combination of their positions and their effects vary significantly
among individuals.
The Sun
The elegant brilliance of the Sun generates life, establishes purpose, and provides direction. Notably,
this majestic orb impressively blazes as the kingpin of the solar system bestowing ego, pride, passion,
arrogance, and strength. Along with these attributes, the Sun controls a person s desire for growth and
expansion. Ultimately, the Sun determines the scaffolding of an individual s personality and destiny.
The Moon
The synchronicity of the moon is phenomenal: instinctively maintaining its composure while
continually rotating during orbit. Habitually, the moon reveals its passively tranquil countenance to the
Earth while simultaneously concealing a secretive side. Comparatively, the nature of this motion
illustrates the way the moon affects an

10. Loss Of Innocence In Laurie Halse Anderson s The Joy Luck...
In all our lives, there is a fall from innocence. A time after which, we are never the same. Stand By
Me. Innocence can be found at any age or any point in one s life. It means chastity, freedom from
wrong, lack of knowledge, SIMPLICITY. When one has innocence the world seems easy without any
worries, however that can all change when one loses their innocence. The loss of innocence can feel as
though one has fallen into a black hole and can never escape, darkness, voicelessness, LONELINESS.
In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club , Nadine Gordimer s Once Upon a Time , and Laurie Halse
Anderson s Speak , the authors use main and supporting characters to show a loss of innocence at a
young age. In The Joy Luck Club loss of innocence is expressed through the old woman from the
fourth parable, Queen Mother of the Western Skies . In Once Upon a Time loss of innocence is
expressed through the young boy. In Speak loss of innocence is expressed though Melinda. Although
all three of these characters go through the same struggle of loss of innocence, Anderson s character
Melinda is able to come to terms with her loss and regain her strength. In these three stories, Tan,
Gordimer, and Anderson use the theme of loss of innocence to portray loneliness, fear, and barriers to
show how one can learn from past experiences.
In the fourth parable Queen Mother of the Western Skies , Tan uses the old woman to show her loss of
innocence through flashbacks to her youth. As she plays with her granddaughter, the old woman
wonders what she will teach the child. She sees the baby laughing and the old woman recalls that she
too was once free and innocent , laughing for pure enjoyment (213). However, as time went on she
threw away her foolish innocence to protect herself (213). As a result, when she had a daughter, she
taught her daughter to do the same and shed her innocence (213). The old woman wonders if telling
her daughter to do so was wrong, for now she can recognize the evil in the world. She calls the baby
as if she is a high and mighty spirit named Syi Wang Mu , Queen Mother of the Western Skies and
asks her to answer her question. Continuing to call her granddaughter the Queen,

McDonnell Douglas Corporation, an aerospace manufacturer, and its 1996 purchase of the defense
and space units of Rockwell International Corporation, an aerospace contractor. The corporation is the
world s number one maker of commercial jetliners and military aircraft with more than 9,000

Unfortunately, Boeing jets were involved in four fatal air accidents from December 1988 to March
1989, and the company missed its first delivery deadline in two decades when the 747 400
experienced production delays. These internal problems were exacerbated by increased competition
from Airbus, which was heavily subsidized by a consortium of European companies and governments.
Furthermore, worldwide orders of all aircraft by the airliners declined from 1,662 in 1989 to 439 in
1991. Fortunately, in 1993 NASA selected Boeing as the prime contractor for the International Space
Station, which was called the largest international science and technology endeavor ever undertaken.
Boeing was also becoming increasingly involved in commercial space projects and in December 1995
ten commercial space satellites were produced and launched from a floating platform at sea.
In the middle of 1990 s, Boeing began its plan of acquisitions and in 1996 it paid $3.2 billion for the
aerospace and defense holdings of Rockwell International which was responsible for the Space shuttle
and International Space Station programs, as well as activities in launch systems, rocket engines,
missiles, satellites and military airplanes. Furthermore, in 1997 Boeing completed a $14 billion
acquisition of McDonnell Douglas which was the world s number three maker of commercial aircraft.

The structure of the molecule worked perfectly with what was known from the IR, CNMR, and
HNMR spectra. It has a C O stretch and alkanes as suggested from the IR Spectrum. It has an ether as
shown by Carbon NMR and has a hydrogen adjacent to a single bonded oxygen as revealed by the
Hydrogen NMR. The molecule also had symmetry which was a necessity. Lastly, it has the correct
chemical formula C4H8O. It was known which carbons and hydrogens went where for a couple of
different reasons. First, Carbon 1 was an ether which meant it had to be part of the ether and adjacent
to the oxygen. That left Carbon 2 to take the alkane spot. Hydrogen A was adjacent to a single bonded
oxygen which meant it needed to be with Carbon 1. Again, this left Hydrogen B to fill the alkyl spot
because it was bonded as a CH2. All of this is shown in Figure 11. Unlike, Unknown 1 the splitting
patterns in Unknown 13 did not offer much insight. This was because both of the hydrogens were
triplets. However, information from the splitting pattern was not needed to figure out

Asian Indians come from an area with the second largest population in the world, but form only one of

beliefs long before the first immigrants arrived in the 19th century. The congressional act of 1947

To make matters worse, famine devastated India from 1899 to 1902. Thus, large scale immigration
began in 1906, when six hundred Asians applied to enter the United States. They came here in hopes
of changing their lives around. Unfortunately, they soon found out that life in America was very
challenging. Many Indians were farmers back in India, but when they came to the United States they
had to take jobs no one else would. They also encountered prejudice. Whites sometimes associated the
Asian Indian immigrants with blacks, Chinese, or Japanese. Very often, Asian Indians were blamed for
the violence directed towards them. Whites did not want or try to understand Indian culture and
traditions. The Indian poet, Rabindranath Tagore (a winner of the Noble Prize in literature) traveled to
North America. When he applied for entry to the United States, Tagore encountered difficulties and
when he finally made it to the country, he experienced racial prejudice in Los Angeles. He cancelled
his tour and returned to India, saying in disgust, Jesus could not get into America because, first of all,
he would not have the necessary money, and secondly, He would be an Asiatic. Despite of everything
they encountered, the immigrants still believed that the life they left behind was much worse than thy
life they faced in America.

1. Explain the strengths and weaknesses of Singapore s national innovation system.
After gaining political independence from Malaysia in 1965, Singapore experienced a phase of rapid
industrialization based on export oriented manufacturing by foreign MNCs. The approach was to offer
MNCs favourable conditions to locate in Singapore, with a view to increase overall skills and
technological capabilities. Singapore sought to build its science and technology resources through the
transfer of manufacturing technologies embedded in MNCs and foreign direct investments (FDI). The
local skill base was also developed through learning by using techniques among workers and
technicians employed by these foreign MNCs. Thus Singapore followed a dependent ... Show more

One important issue is the relative underdevelopment in local technological and marketing capability.
The success of a national innovation system depends on the effectiveness of two things: (i) the
deployment of new technologies and (ii) the development or creation of new technologies. The
dependent strategy has led Singapore to focus more on the deployment and diffusion of technology by
leveraging on large foreign high tech MNCs, rather than fostering technological development by local
enterprises. The development of new technology in the MNC headquarters and its transfer to their
subsidiaries in Singapore has only been a major source of technological upgrading in Singapore, rather
than indigenous research and development. (Wong, 2000). According to Low (2000), the innovative
capacity and culture of Singapore had to be nourished, apart from the efforts of the government in
creating a conducive business environment
Developing the national innovation system using the dependent strategy can shift the government s
focus to creating more incentives for MNCs, rather than the domestic firms. Local small and medium
enterprises (SMEs) with some amount of entrepreneurial risk taking capabilities become
overshadowed by MNCs and Government Linked companies (GLCs). This creates a credibility gap
when obtaining financial assistance schemes. Efforts must be made to ensure that these private local
SMEs are not dwarfed by the MNCs and

The Affect of Child Labor on the World
Introduction
Child labor is a very hot topic in today s world. The problems associated with child labor have always
been a part of life but thanks to Globalization, everyone is now more aware of the child labor issues
that exist. Whether an individual is in favor or against child labor the fact is that child labor affects
everyone, because child labor affects the global economy. Children who work play a big role in the
economy because they produce goods and are paid wages just like adults; they are an active
participant of the work force.

Other countries with large numbers of children working include Africa and India.
Children in the work force are not necessarily a bad thing. Some children by free want and like to
work, but the potential for exploitation and violation of civil rights can be very high in the some work
places. As mentioned earlier children in many cases work to help their family and the experience can
be a very pleasant one. This all depends on many things such as the age of the child, the hours worked,
the conditions, and the ability to still attend school. On the other hand many children are forced into
work. With bonded labor a family in need of money would be given advanced payment and then turn
over a child to work for the employer to repay this debit. Most of the time it is nearly impossible for
the child to pay off this debit because the interest that is deducted forms the child s earnings is very
large. There are also other forms of slavery that children must endure such as being denied the right to
leave the workplace or being confined and beaten by the employer. Other adverse conditions that
some children face are working extremely long hours and handling dangerous materials such as
chemicals, pesticides. These conditions are usually seen by children who work in mines and
agriculture. Some of the after affects that children who work in these kinds of conditions face could

The Different Types of Prayer
Prayer is a form of communication between God and people. Christians use prayers in both public and
private worship as away of communicating with God. They also use prayers to listen to God and
receive guidance, support and comfort from him. The prayers may be said in silence or aloud.
Jesus taught that people must be persistent in prayer. They should not expect their prayers to be
answered straight away. Jesus taught that Christians must pray with true faith and devotion.

A confession prayer Ă Forgive us the wrongs we have done as we forgive the wrongs that others have

This confession prayer is asking for the forgiveness of their sins. It also says that forgive us because

Christians believe that unless they forgive others, they can t be forgiven themselves. Therefore it says.

The second type of prayer I will look at is thanksgiving.
THANKSGIVING
Thanksgiving is thanking God.
When Christians want to thank God for something, they say a thanksgiving prayer. This kind of prayer
helps Christians feel grateful and stops them from taking things for granted.
People can thank God for various things. For example: getting better/ recovering from an illness;
giving them life; some good news they ve received etc.
I interviewed a Christian on thanksgiving and this is what she said:
Every time I go to church, I thank God for my loving husband and my two beautiful children who he s
blessed me with. I m thankful for all that he s given me a place where I earn my living, a place that I
can call home and so much more. Every time, I have a problem, I pray to him. I ask him for help and

27. The Chosen Ones By Pablo Neruda Analysis
Resuscitation Pablo Neruda s poem The Chosen Ones is a perfect incorporation of torment and
influence, acting to sadden as well as impact the reader to influence further action against intolerance.
Neruda uses allusion when referencing the years of events of significant suffering that are important in
Cuban and world history, recalling his own first hand experiences himself, and the significance of
understanding these dates and events. Neruda uses a tone that is volatile, characterized by an increase
in imagery, especially of death and violence, as the piece goes on. Neruda uses a couplet at the end to
shift the poem from lengthy description of violence and death, to a sardonic reference of those who
were killed, operating as a call to action. This poem uses allusion, tone, and personification to
exemplify violence as a result of prejudice and their legacy forgotten. Neruda s use of historical
allusion is significant as several dates mentioned are specific examples of genocide, especially as a
result of hatred towards complex institutions of race, nationality, and religion. In this piece Neruda
references several dates: 1925, 1926, 1933, 1940, 1918, 1905, and thousands of nineteen hundreds
(Neruda,1). Each date representative of a significantly negative event in world history; However
several dates also coincide with important years in Cuban history. For example, in the year 1925,
Gerardo Machado was elected Cuba s president, he would resist the rise of a healthy labor movement,
which he would enforce using deportation and police brutality. Cuba s economic downfall would lead
to uprisings in the future, all ultimately having Cuban legislature and law enforcement being taken
advantage of, while at the same time several mass killings world arise before crimes against humanity
would be identified and prosecuted at the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg. Neruda s first
hand experiences with oppression and fascism growing up in Cuba allowed many to learn from the
Chilean because he offered a way of identifying with the masses and engaging the problems of society
(Pettingell, 3). Neruda s use of allusion allows the hatred from these mass killings to be tied in with

apps consuming people s social life or even just their life. The effects on students and adults are
unbelievable stats. Nomophia is a disease that makes you addicted to your mobile phone. As the

30. Women s Life Of Christianity
The women in the history involved in the church played a variety of roles in their life of Christianity.
During early Christianity, they were mostly health care givers, teachers, and missionaries. Until recent
times, women were mostly excluded from higher church positions such as episcopal and clerical jobs
within the churches. However a good number of women have been influential in the life of the church
from contemporaries of Jesus, to subsequent saints, theologians, doctors of the church, missionaries,
abbesses, nuns, mystics, founders of religious institutes, military leaders, monarchs and martyrs.
Christianity from the start placed men in positions of authority in marriage, government, community,
family, and pretty much anything. The religion only allowed membership of priests to males only.
There was a wide following amount of women with an enhanced social status, while they believed and
practiced Christianity, they were only allowed to follow the men. Later centuries, as religious groups
of women and nuns flourished, women came to play an important role in Christianity through
convents and abbeys and have continued through history to be active. They mostly participated in
schools, hospitals, nursing homes and monastic settlements. A lot has changed in recent decades, with
the ordination of women in some churches have become pretty popular. Focusing on the early century

The recession in 2008 resulted in travelers seeking cheaper fares and led to growth in sales for budget

With the higher oil prices, natural disasters in Japan, discontent in the Middle East, North Africa and

threats to airlines profits and survival of airlines.
Social
The growth in demand for passengers seeking low cost airlines for cheaper fares is an opportunity for
budget airlines. People are living a better standard of life with declining inequality of incomes made
up mostly of middle class income people. People are also more well travelled, experienced and seek

In this day and age, you have a myriad options for training your dog available to you. In fact, the
difficulty is more often deciding which approach will be the most effective in training your particular
dog (and the method that will mesh the best with your particular situation). Now that you ve decided
that you re going to put the effort into training your dog and that the effort is worth the results you
know you ll get, it is time to decide what kind of training program you will use. Private Training This
type of training involves paying an hourly rate for one on one with a professional dog trainer at some
sort of training facility (or perhaps in your home for a higher price rate). This can be an extremely
effective method of training your dog. Because you are there with your dog, you are shown exactly
what movements and actions to take and your dog benefits from a professional hand. However, this
training is easily the most expensive, because professional trainers often charge 20, 40, or even up to
100 dollars an hour for their expertise. In addition, if you don t find a trainer who is knowledgeable
enough to deal with all of your dog s tendencies or if you simply don t click with your trainer, your
time and money can easily slip down the drain with very little observable results. Also, working
extensively with another trainer has the potential to confuse your dog as to who he/she should actually

Changes Brewing for African Americans in 1950s
Determined to write a play about African American experience in the United States for every decade

one of such plays about African American in the 1950 s. It began in 1957 and ended in 1965; however,
the 1950s marks the time period when the struggle against segregation and racial discrimination

This setting is noteworthy because of the industrial importance of the north to African Americans in
the decades preceding civil war. According to Richard, Troy Maxson s father a sharecropper was
frustrated by the fact that every crop took him further into depth (1018). Richard means that
economical state of the south was not favorable for sharecroppers and mostly backs. During that
period, poverty, racial discrimination and savage conditions in the south caused many blacks including
Troy and other men to migrate to the industrial north in search of a means of livelihood, but these men
were met with utter disappointment. With no infrastructure or resources to live on, men like Troy and
Bono resorted to living in shacks, committing crimes and ending up in jail. Wilson clearly shows a
relationship between the freeing of the slaves and disproportionate number of African American men
in jail as well as in low income occupations by contending that the majority of unequipped, resource
less and homeless group released into a competitive and financed society will find it difficult
surviving lawfully in such a society. Wilson s characters attest to the fact that the United States failed

through Jim Crow laws and other measures taken lawfully to ensure inequality, continues to affect
many black lives. Wilson depicts the 1950s as a time period when new doors of

37. Richard Cory Analysis Essay
In Edwin Robinson s Richard Cory, one major theme is envy. I struggle as a person with envying
others and also with greed, so this poem related to me on that level, however, I have also experienced
the opposite, where people envy me without knowing my burdens. The poet tells a story, or tells more,
a parable, that uses irony and a bluntness that makes it so the reader can interpret it and relate it to
their own lives easily. What I think is the foremost of the ways Robinson relates to the reader, is
through playing on common emotions. In this specific poem, it is envy and those who possess the
envy are the villagers. It can be somewhat inferred from the first two stanzas, but in the third stanza it
nearly directly states their feelings by saying in lines 11 and 12, In fine, we thought that he was
everything / To make us wish that we were in his place. These villagers envy Richard Cory, who they
laud like a king even though he is no greater than them, only in wealth. Everyone has envied another

The entire poem displays an ironic theme, but it first becomes apparent in the second stanza. The first
stanza Cory is described as a gentleman from sole to crown, / Clean favored and imperially slim, (line

these villagers. But then in the fifth and sixth lines, he says, And he was always quietly arrayed, / And
he was always human when he talked, which slightly contradicts what was said about him in the prior
verse. Not only is that an example, but then also how Robinson ends the poem adds on to the irony of
it. The last stanza, filled with irony on its own, completes the poem by sharing that Cory kills himself.
The villagers wanted to be in this rich man s position, but did not realize that he also had struggles
even though he had money, that did not make his life

44. Inspector Calls Themes
In the play An Inspector Calls , Priestley included 2 main themes: the general contrast and
responsibility. The first theme: general contrast was perhaps the most applied throughout the play,
such as in: the young age vs. the old age, the upper class vs. the lower class, the reality vs. the
predictions of the characters, in addition to socialism vs. capitalism. The young characters: Sheila and
Eric sympathized passionately with Eva unlike the elders: Gerald, Mr. and Ms. Birling. At an
unpredictable move, the young ones turned out to be matured enough to realize their guilt, to the
extent of them arguing and shouting at their own narrow minded parents. The elders their parents in
specific, believed that their social status deflected them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second contrast lies between the upper and lower class. Priestley differentiated Eva Smith from
Daisy Renton; for each symbolizes a different social status Eva represented the struggling workers
while Daisy represented the pregnant prostitutes. Synecdoche was used in Edna, the maid and Eva
Smith to signify the working class, and the lowest class using Daisy Renton and her unborn baby
John. Mrs. Birling kept lowering the importance of girls in lower classes by saying Girls from that
class to indicate that she remained entirely untouched by Eva s death, to extent of her ignoring and
underestimating how desperate she was for love, money and assistance. The other contrast content was
rather ironic; it s regarding Mr. Birling s judgments. Priestly used allusion to refer to the World War 2
and to the Titanic s famous sinking; in which he denied that both would happen; I m talking as a hard
headed man of practical man of business ...I say there isn t a chance of war referring to World War 2
that actually happened and regarding the Titanic unsinkable, absolutely unsinkable that also sank. This
emphasizes what a narrow minded, pompous snub Mr. Birling was. The final contrast could be
presented between socialism and capitalism. Mr. Birling

45. Improper And Inadequate Development Of Water Resources Essay
The improper and inadequate development of water resources in poor countries is causing damage to
the essential ecosystem as well as greatly affecting the condition of the environment. The water being
collected and the water that is released back to the ecosystem are not even comparable in any sense.
The lack of treatment leading to increased release of harmful contaminants directly into the rivers is
clearly interrupting the ecosystem (Molden November 2012). Many from other rural areas are
constantly migrating to the big cities to gain access to fresh water and causing rapid urbanization,
which is in turn becoming an even bigger threat to the ecosystem. Under these situations, the
economic condition of the Global South cannot be improved, as this will be a continuous fight to
remain on top. Thus a sustainable developmental plan is necessary to gain back the control over fresh
water. The paper will discuss a few major issues with water and the environment, and try to suggest
ways to improve the conditions for a better future both environmentally and economically in the
global south. Water and Economy The seventh UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in 2001 said fierce
competition for fresh water may well become a source for conflict and wars in the future . While the
World Economic Forum listed water supply crisis as a top item in the list of global risks. A rapidly
developing nation like China is ample proof of this fact, where they lose $15 billion every year due to
reduction
