Conditional sentences are complex sentences that contain two clauses: an if-clause that establishes a condition and a main clause that states the result. There are four types of conditional sentences. The first expresses facts that are always true using the present simple tense in both clauses. The second predicts possible future events using the present simple in the if-clause and will/won't + verb in the main clause. The third expresses unlikely possibilities using the past simple in the if-clause and would/wouldn't + verb in the main clause. The fourth expresses impossible past conditions using the past perfect in the if-clause and would have + past participle in the main clause. Punctuation with a comma depends on the order of the clauses
