The purpose of this experiment was to come up with the optimal temperature of the
Fungal Amylase, Aspergillus oryzae, and the Bacterial Amylase, Bacillus
liceniformis, as well as to identify if different temperatures would indeed affect the
enzyme amylase by either slowing down the process or denaturing the enzyme.
Enzymes are complex proteins, they can be thought of as a substance fabricated by a
living organism that behaves as a stimulus, otherwise known as a catalyst, to cause a
specific biochemical reaction. This experiment was performed by keeping the amylase
mixed with starch at different temperatures, either in the heated water or in the ice
bath. The temperatures varied at either 0, 25, 55, or 85 degrees Celsius. After a
certain amount of time we would then move the test tubes containing the amylases
and position them on a plate where iodine was then added to the starch amylase
solution. We would do the same thing at different time intervals to see exactly how
the enzyme catalyzed the starch. The hypothesis of this experiment was thought to be
that the higher the temperature the slower the enzyme would then hydrolyze the

It seems very clear that the suspect is guilty, and the eighth juror goes against

For the purpose of this paper, I will refer to The Walking Dead as a comic, a video
game, and a TV series. The focus of this ethnography is to understand how the comic
book culture influences many fans. Since the series is based on a graphic novelseries,
and some of the fans are schooled in comic culture; they arrive with literacy in comic
storytelling. Others who are not fans may recognize the visually and narrative of

The Green Building Movement North American homes, offices and other buildings
contribute an estimated 2.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere every
year more than one third of the continent s greenhouse gas pollution output (Biello).
Global warming is a worldwide issue that is thought to be one of the most severe
problems around the globe. Pollution in the atmosphere is one of the main causes of
global warming. This pollution starts to build up and destroy the ozone layer causing
an increase in the overall temperature of the Earth s atmosphere (Lee). There are
simple methods that can be followed to help decrease global warming. Green building
is a building process that is used to make buildings more environmental friendly. This
process is used throughout the whole building life cycle, which includes everything
from making the design of the building up to the demolition of the building.
Cooperation of all the people involved in the building process is very important
throughout each stage in the project. This process can lead to a much better and
easier way to help the global warming issue throughout the world. Many people may
oppose to green building because of the higher cost for new equipment and materials

Stress Management Essay
As a future IHP, it is important to be able to cope with stress and ensure that I do not
burnout (Ross Deverell, 2004:305). Along with a thorough understanding of what
stress and burnout is, I will use a personal past experience to explain how I will
develop stress management strategies and implement them in my behaviour.
Stress and Burnout:
Stress is understood as the way in which a person responds to the demands, both
physical and emotional, which have been placed on them. It is a reaction to change
and stress can become more apparent when the requirements a situation are greater
than your ability to cope. Stress is a subjective response. Not everyone will feel
stressed, and experience the same symptoms, when exposed to the same ... Show
I believe that I have gained valuable skills to reduce and manage stress (Olckers,
Gibbs Duncan 2007:3). As an IHP, I will be constantly faced with conflict involving
fellow professionals and patients because of the need to make significant decisions.
The resulting stress needs to be managed constructively so that healthy relationships
are maintained which are valuable to my career (Gibson, Swarts and Sandenbergh
2:109).
In matric I learnt how important it is that you don t let stress negatively affect your
life such as causing depression and reduced concentration (Gibson, Swarts and
Sandenbergh 2:106). I have learnt how stress can develop into burnout and the
consequences of this which have been outlined in defining burnout. Knowing how to
prevent burnout is critical in my career as a future IHP. Each day of work will
revolve around dealing with people s problems which can accumulate and cause
emotional strain (Ross Deverell, 2004:304).
Knowledge of harmful implications of stress on well being will affect my
behaviours in the future as I consciously work to eliminate these. I now understand
that it is not healthy to repeatedly stay up late to complete work because adequate
