Topic For Informative Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic "Topic For Informative Essay" poses a unique challenge, primarily
due to the inherent ambiguity in the prompt. The task demands not only an in-depth
understanding of the general principles of informative essay writing but also the ability to
navigate the vast expanse of potential subjects encapsulated within the broad theme. The initial
hurdle lies in deciphering what precisely the topic entails, requiring a careful analysis of the
prompt to discern the key elements and scope.
The subsequent difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between providing
comprehensive information and maintaining reader engagement. Choosing a specific focus
within the broader theme becomes crucial, and the writer must carefully select relevant subtopics
that align with the informative nature of the essay. The challenge lies in steering clear of
excessive details or overly broad discussions, as both can detract from the essay's effectiveness.
Research becomes a critical aspect, as the writer must delve into diverse sources to gather
accurate and up-to-date information. This process involves sifting through a plethora of data,
verifying facts, and discerning the most relevant pieces to include in the essay. The difficulty
intensifies when the chosen topic has limited scholarly resources or when conflicting
information complicates the synthesis of a cohesive narrative.
Organizing the information logically poses another hurdle, as structuring the essay to present a
coherent flow of ideas requires thoughtful planning. Balancing the introduction, body, and
conclusion while maintaining clarity and coherence can be a formidable task, especially when
dealing with a topic that inherently lacks a predefined structure.
Moreover, the challenge extends to ensuring the essay is not merely an accumulation of facts but
rather an engaging and enlightening piece for the reader. Striking this balance requires skillful
integration of facts with insightful analysis and commentary, transforming the essay into a
compelling exploration of the chosen subject.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "Topic For Informative Essay" is undeniably
challenging due to the inherent vagueness of the prompt. It demands meticulous interpretation,
extensive research, and adept organization of information to create a well-crafted and engaging
piece. Despite the difficulties, mastering this skill is essential for effective communication and
academic success.

Feminism in Late 19th Century American Short Stories
Research Question: How is feminism revealed through the divergence of women s
roles in society and their own personal desires in the American short stories The
Yellow Wall Paper, The Story of an Hour, The Storm, and Life in the Iron Mills ?
Introduction
Literature changes as current events change and as the structure of society begins to
shift. American feminist literature started to become prevalent during the Victorian
era, or around the latter part of the 19th century. This is the time when the first wave
of feminism in the United States hit. The Seneca Falls Convention the first women s
rights convention and the emergence of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B.
Anthony s American Equal Rights Association in the middle of the 19th century are
among some of the noteable events that sparked this movement in literature. Women
across America were inspired by the changing of the times, and that is reflected in
many American female authors writings.
Some of these authors include Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Kate Chopin, and Rebecca
Harding Davis, whose short stories speak volumes about the thoughts and emotions
of women during this time period. Life in the Iron Mills was written in 1861, The
Yellow Wall Paper in 1892, The Story of an Hour in 1894, and finally The Storm in
1898. Every story was written during the Victorian era; every author had personally
experienced life
How Did Rene Descartes Influence Ancient Greek
Philosophy
Rene Descartes is known as one of the greatest philosophers. His theories about the
existence of God and how they relate to human beings were too much for the minds
of his times. Rene often debated the relation between the mind and the body, being
skeptical of himself. He was one of the of the primary representatives in the
scientific revolution and has been described as the role model of a genius. He didn t
accept the mandate of other philosophers and refused to accept the transparency of
his own feelings.
Rene Descartes was born on March 31, 1596, in La Haye en Tourine, France. His
parents were Joachim Descartes (1563 1640) and Jeanne Brochard (1566 1597). His
father who was the son of doctor studied law and worked in the Parliament of
Brittany, which left little time for raising a family. His mother was the daughter of a

The Jesuit philosophy curriculum included the study of Aristotle. Aristotle is one of
the most famous ancient Greek philosophers. The materials of study included logic,
morals, physics, and metaphysics. At 16, RenГ© Descartes successfully completed
his education. He then went on and studied at the University of Poitiers in France,
earning himself a law degree from Poitiers in 1616. It was a degree that he took to
comply with his father s wish. But that is not the road he wanted to follow. While
in France, some say that there is little known about his life and spent most of his
time isolated. Possibly, he was suffering a mental breakdown. In Amsterdam, he
had a relationship with a servant girl, Helena Jans van der Strom, with whom he
had a daughter, Francine, who was born in 1635 in Deventer. She died when she
was only five years old in 1640. Her death inspired him to create a conceptual like
figure of her. This for him portrayed the grief and sadness that a parent suffers when
their child has
Analysis Of Swan By Saint-Swan
Since the composition Il bianco e dolce cigno means the sweet white swan, the
sound quality of this particualr piece reminded me Swan that was composed by
Romantic composition Swan by Saint Saens. One way by trying to make this piece
match wit the description of the piece is by readjust the slur in the composition.
Even though the piece itself was very syllabic but in order to create that smooth flow
and gesture of the swan, in my arragement I add in more slur between phrases in
order to showcase the elegent sound of the swan and try to put some romanticism in
the composition. Similar to the Swan that was composed by saint saen, both piece

This show that the emphasis of the chord through out the music will allow this
particular piece to have a different style and more enhance style of color when it s
being performed on two cello given the fact that sometimes string instrument such as
cello can produce even more color compares to a simple four voice part sining and
create more tension and release in the music. One other reason that I choose such
an instrumentation for the arrangement is because out of all the instrument that is
avaliable to us today, cello is one of the few instrument that have the closest voice
range to the human voice. Because of it s wide voice range, it can imitate the
sound of human voice closest compare to other string instruments. Out of all the
string instrument, cello have a voice range that sounds more similar to human
voice. Furthermore, it s one of of the few instrument that is more natural for people
to perform on. Compares to other string instruments such as violin, viola, and
double bass, the way that a person perform a cello require the least amount of
tension in order to create a good sound quality. In addition, the color that a cello
can produce represents varieties of geture mood. From a low bass sound which
symbolized sorrow and calm to it s high pitch where it can be quite exerciting and
energetic. Cello s dark voice is well fitted for interpretate the sound of death, in
addition, it s easy for cello to sing with a beauutiful tone quality which match
Extent Primate Analysis
1.Introduction:
Extent Primates provide great insight as analogies into facilitating an understanding
of how tool use, culture and cognition developed in the early hominid lineage.
Archaeologists interpret primate behaviors and social structures as a means of
investigating the evolution of hominin technology. This process will be briefly
outlined as well as a number of the benefits and disadvantages presented when using
extant primates as analogies in this way.
An analogy creates a comparison between two subjects through likening and
contrasting aspects about them. Thus looking into extant primate tool usage, one can
gain insight into possible early hominin tool usage. This, as they can provide, to a
certain extent, a living interpretation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chimps for example, have similar hands to humans, however, when using a hammer
stone, they frequently use a power grip where all fingers are used to control nut
cracking (Wong, 2004). Here, their finger proportions inhibit easy coordination
between the index finger and thumb (Wong, 2004). This is significantly different to
that of hominids who have hands and thumbs which are very effective and allow for
precise knapping and control over hammer stones. This illustrates that their
differences in physical characteristics lead to distinctly different behaviors that cannot

Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis TertiusBy Jorge Luis Borges
Ana Bahena English 102D Izenberg November 2, 2017 Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius
Jorge Luis Borges is widely known for his bizarre short stories that question all
aspects of life and our world. Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is no different putting into
question everything we believe to be true. Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is a narrative
account of an individual who has discovered the fictional land of Uqbar in one of
the version of an encyclopedia. Throughout the story, the man keeps investigating
more on this place and finds that its importance comes from Tlon, one of the
subdivisions of Uqbar, and its literature. Tlon is an ideal world, which the reader
later finds out, created by a secret society, Orbis Tertius and has been equipped with

No matter how many variations of Uqbar (Ukbar, Ucbar, Ookbar, Oukbahr) he
searches for, he cannot seem to find this place. In order to appease the narrator,
Casares tells him that [Uqbar] was a region in Iraq or Asia Minor (Borges 68).
Casares uses words and places that the narrator knows and connects with so that
the narrator can place this fictional world within the real world. Although
completely doubtful of his friend, the narrator consults the atlases of Justus Perthes
just to make sure that Uqbar is not real, as he believes it to be. This part in the short
story, although minute, is crucial because it causes tension between that the
narrator believes to be real and that which he doubts to be real. In this same
manner, the text itself is causing tension between what the reader knows to be real
and what is fiction. The reader assumes that what he/she is reading is fiction, but
this comes in conflict with the constant use of real works and people such as the
Encyclopedia Britannica, the N.R.F, Bioy Casares, Justus Perthes, and many others.
The specificity of terms and names of real authors and theorists that are fused into
the work bring an apparent legitimacy to what is read. Yet, as the reader continues,
the story becomes seemingly false. The reader s experience is mirrored in the text as
the narrator goes through a similar development of realization regarding the
encyclopedia entry on Uqbar. As
The National Border Industrialization Program
In the mid 1960 s the National Border Industrialization program began, helping the
maquiladoras industry and the development of infrastructure of its northern border.
Creating job opportunities and means of products into the country. According to
Mexico Maquiladoras and NAFTA, Patrick Kelly describes that the maquiladora
program allowed foreign manufacturers to temporarily import duty free machinery,
tools, equipment, replacement parts and raw of plentiful and comparatively cheap
labor and low transportation costs, materials necessary to assemble and manufacture
for export outside the country, which had become an advantage for U.S
manufacturers. When the maquiladora industry first began they did not want
foreign equipment or raw material to be sold in Mexico without being subject to
duty. The Mexican government had its own regulations, within those regulations the
maquilas were not allowed to sell completed products in Mexican markets with the
risk of losing their registration and continuance of importing goods free of duty.
This regulation began to lose its standards in the 1970s. According to Hanson, once
the rules weren t practiced like before its import changed and allowed the use of
maquiladoras as part of its Border Industrialization Program. Hanson claims that the
program permitted firms to import free of duty the inputs, machinery, and parts they
would need for export assembly operations . Maquiladoras or factories as they are
known today, were required to
Prince Of A Town Called Bel Air
Prince of a Town Called Bel Air
Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down, and I d
like to take a minute, just sit right here, I ll tell you how I became the prince of a
town called Bel Air (Smith). Many 90s kids memorized this opening to the hit
television show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air . Sometimes you can t help but rap the
words and visualize Will Smith spinning in front of a graffiti background. Will Smith
stars in the show as a fictionalized version of himself. The theme song sets the
premise for the entire show. Smith was a street smart, African American teenager
born in West Philadelphia. However, while playing basketball, he got in a
confrontation with a group of men. This frightened his mother, who sent him to Bel
Air to live with his wealthy aunt and uncle. Smith grew up in a working class
environment and is now exposed to an upper class world. This is a theme around
which many of the show s plots revolve. The effect of the lyrics to this theme song
goes beyond pure entertainment value. Smith is hyper aware that he is combatting
the prevalent television representation, at the time, of young black males as thugs.
Through this 90s comical theme song, Smith, who was born and raised in West
Philadelphia himself, confirms the stereotype of the urban, black, young thug and
complicates that stereotype by depicting himself as nothing like that.
As an appeal to ethos, Smith is initially portrayed as a person with good sense, good

or violent social behavior. A person who is labeled a narcissist has a sense of self

Reverend Jim Jones was a psychopath who ultimately lead hundreds of people to

To get people of different ages and racial backgrounds to be able to coexist

role model to the men. He was extremely charismatic and always came across as a
good person who was always trying to help others out. ( Histories of Peoples

senior citizens of his church, he still looked out for them. Although he had them
turn over their life savings and homes to People s Temple, he made sure they were
kept up. People s Temple had a couple retirement homes were these older members

Jim mingling with his older members. Every member in the temple was guaranteed
free medical and dental expenses. Also, him wanting to help African Americans and

restaurants and a hospital while still living in Indiana. These things
The Group Of Warrior Women
The group of warrior women known as The Amazons has fascinated people for
centuries with the idea of these women warriors popping up the media we
consume. The first time I heard about these women was when I was reading about
Greek mythology when I was younger. It was amazing to me that the idea of
warrior women was addressed in the myths I was reading. To me the myths were
about usually these buff and quick witted men who were always the ones who were
the central figures of the stories I was reading. I thought these women were amazing
but I only thought of them as fictional characters in the myths. I could never have
dreamed when I was younger that The Amazonsmight be real.
I had no idea when I was younger were based at all on any resemblance of fact
when to me they seemed to only be a fantasy or fictional character put into the
story to move the story along so the main characters could accomplish their goal.
As I found out later in my life the Amazons are most likely way more real than was
previously thought. Theses myths about these amazing warrior women may have
actually been based on fact. I believe that the Amazons were based on fact and not
some myth created to entertain people or teach a lesson. They lived and fought and
were not some wisp of an idea twisted into a myth or only characters in somebody s
mind but were flesh and blood. People today are not the only ones who have been
fascinated with the Amazons. The Amazons were immensely popular with the
Greeks and

Beer, for example, was a drink that affected the lifestyle of humans; the humans
who had made the switch between being nomads to building more permanent
homes. Coke, on the other hand, had made its mark on the American culture and
then had spread itself to other cultures all around the world. Coffee had formed a
new type of franchise, coffee houses, an internet hub; coffee houses had even
become a staple in some people s daily lives. It s the differences in each drink that
can determine the way they affect our culture. Beer, the first beverage appeared as
a result of changed lifestyle for the early humans. Before, humans were nomads,
who would follow their food (pg. 9). But starting about 12,000 years ago humans
had picked up on a new lifestyle (pg. 9). These small bands of about 30 people
were now settling down in more permanent areas and had abandoned their old
ways of constantly traveling (pg. 9). This drastic turning point in human history
seemed to primarily come from one reason, the discovery of beer (pg.11). As beer
was basically formed from the gathering of barley and wheat, humans had to form
some type of permanent residency, and abandon their old nomadic lifestyle (pg.11).
The Drink of reason, coffee, seems to not have changed much culturally to this day,
as when it is brought to the table over 250 years ago (pg. 170). Coffee remains to be
the drink over which people meet

Teaching Is An Integral Part Of My Personality
Teaching is an integral part of my personality, it is not just a job that takes a few
hours of my day, nor is it a means to earn a living, rather it is a way of life. Since
the early days of my youth, I used to imagine myself as a teacher, and to discuss
with myself what I have learned, directing questions and trying to extract answers.
Such a way proved to be very fruitful, not only in explaining the targeted topics, but
also in raising new ideas in my mind. Afterwards it became clear to me; I know that
I understand something when I can explain it to others. This has become my way of
dealing with any subject. When the topic is difficult, I consider myself in front of a
personal challenge, and do my best to simplify it into its easiest possible level. This
has become my basic contribution in teaching, to dismantle any complex topic to its
simplest elements, so that students do not face any problem in dealing with it; that is
in discussing, analysing, and understanding it. The conversion of complex ideas into
simpler equivalents is such an arduous task that requires time and effort, but I chose
this it as my method in teaching, because I believe that it is the students right to get
clear ideas, not a confused set of thoughts. Apart from my personal inclinations, my
teaching experience has provided me with a good opportunity to deal with students
from diverse backgrounds, and to explore different teaching methods with them. As a
lecturer at Cairo University, I have gained

The beach was silent. The fiery ball in the sky blinded me as it emerged; slowly

Essay On Civil Rights Prize
Eyes on the Prize was a very inspirational mobie. That taught me a lot about the

was also fighting for the right to vote. Lastly, they was also fighting to end

following things that we couldn t do back then. Firstly, the first prize was that we
blacks or African Americans have received is equality. Equality is attained in this
world because we can now ride the city bus and sit any where we want. We can go
to the same resturaunt as whites and not be kicked out or told anything because we
are black. I feel that equality is attained throughtout the world. Secondly, we also
received the right to vote. The first time that African Americans marched in the
movie, they was attacked. Many African Americans was injured, and most of them
were hospitalized. If we weren t to march, I think we still wouldn t have the right to
vote. This prize is attained throught the world because all of the blacks can vote, no

Did Marco Polo Go To China

Dear Editor, Everyone has been wondering if Marco Polo ever went to China.
There has been proof that he did go to China and proof that he did not. Years after
Marco Polo s legendary travels, scholars debate whether the famous explorer ever
reached went further than the Black Sea, yet China. I believe that Marco Polo did go
to China because of all the evidence I have heard and seen. Marco Polo was born in
the 1200s. He was born into a family tradesmen and his education was like a
merchant s. Around the age of 15, his father left on a journey for 9 years and
during those years his mom dies. When he was 20 years old, he started his journey.
He passes through a powerful desert towards the east and was soon by the border
of China. Marco was brought to the emperor and returns home after 12 years.
According to Polo, cowries, salt, gold and silver were the main currencies in other
parts of China, such as Fujian and Yunnan. The Venetian traveler s description of salt
production was also accurate and unique. Not only did he list the most important salt
production centers, but he described the methods used to make salt and detailed the
value of salt production. This and other information, the accuracy of which has not
yet been fully appreciated, indicate that Marco Polo really did ... Show more content

The War That Interrupted Yom Kippur The 1973 Arab Israeli war (known in Israel
as Yom Kippur War) was a battle between Israel and numerous Arab countries.
Israel, way smaller in numbers was celebrating one of their main holidays, Yom

about 20 days, Israelwon the war, but it came with heavy casualties (From the War
of Attrition to the 1973 Arab Israeli War). Six years earlier, in 1967, Israel had
embarrassed the Arabs in the Six Day War. After the war, Israel had four times the
amount of land as they did before. They took territory from Egyptincluding the Sinai
Peninsula and the Gaza Strip, they took the West Bank and East Jerusalem from
Jordan, and Syria lost the Golan Heights. In 1970, Anwar el Sadat became president
of Egypt. He wanted peace with Israel, but after the war in 1967, it was unlikely that

His leadership became oppressive and extracted any self will and identity we
possessed, requiring the yielding of complete blind submission (also known as
faith and obedience) to his spiritual authority over our life. Intuition and
discernment are natural to my reflective nature and my gut instinct is usually right
ninety nine percent of the time; however, this innate ability was gradually silenced
under his leadership because questioning meant we were rebellious and
disobedient resulting in being out of the favor and will of God. At least that is
what his leadership taught his; therefore, I learned to suppress my innate instincts
until I know longer recognized how much of me was me and how much of me was

In This Paper We Will Go Through The Development Of

In this paper we will go through the development of the keyboard through the
nineteenth century in chamber music. We are going to look at three different
composers, Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Johannes Brahms. We are
going to look and see how they treated the keyboard in their lives and compositions.
For each of the composers we will look at one keyboard chamber piece so we can
learn just a little more about how important it was to each composer and why.
[introduction paragraph to be continued] The first composer we will be looking at is
Joseph Haydn. He was one of the earliest composer of the nineteenth century, living
most of his life in the eighteenth century. Therefore, he becomes the perfect candidate

Yes, there were many important composers between Bach and Haydn but Haydn
stands out from the rest. The harpsichord was already in it s decline by Haydn s
time and the fortepiano was rapidly becoming popular among musicians,
professionals and amateurs alike. However, it had not yet become obsolete. There
were many amateurs and professional musicians who still owned a harpsichord or
two, including Haydn, who owned a few harpsichords himself. (He owned a
similar harpsichord as the one pictured on the left.) Haydn grew up learning the
harpsichord and even taught the harpsichord when he was a older. Yet, the
harpsichord was becoming a thing of the past. While the harpsichord was not yet
obsolete, the way music for the keyboard was being written was changing. Edward
L. Kottick in his book, A History of the Harpsichord, writes that The dynamics in the
late sonatas of Haydn can be realized to perfection on an English Harpsichord with
machine and swell,...,but Haydn s sonatas are piano music and achieve their full
potential only on that instrument. However, Haydn abandoned the harpsichord a
few years before the nineteenth century. Helen Rice Hollis in her book, The Piano
A Pictorial Account of its ancestry and development, writes: He [Haydn] urged
Madame von Genzinger [a close friend of Haydn s] to buy a piano saying he could
no longer compose for a harpsichord. So right at the beginning of nineteenth century

Analysis Of Cushing s Syndrome And Its Effects On The
Body
Cushing s syndrome is a rare endocrine disorder that occurs when your body is
exposed to an overabundance of the hormone cortisol.3 Cortisol is known as the
stress hormone. The interruption of cortisol secretion can cause weight gain and can
ultimately determine where you put the weight on.8 There are many underlying
causes such as Pituitary Adenomas, Ectopic ACTH Syndrome, Adrenal Tumors, and
Familial Cushing s Syndrome.2 The majority of these people affected by this
hormonal disorder experience weak muscles, increase fat, high blood pressure, etc.1
Although thousands are affected in various ways, there are currently several channels
of treatment administered by medical professionals. Through the use of improving
technology, medical professionals are better understanding the disorder, allowing
them to develop better treatment practices.
Cortisol plays a major role in the development of this disorder. It is secreted by the
adrenal gland, located above the kidneys, in a precise sequence of events. The
hypothalamus directs corticotropin releasing hormone(CRH) to the pituitary gland.1
CRH causes the pituitary to release adrenocorticotropin hormone(ACTH) activate the
adrenal glands.1 The adrenal glands pick up the ACTH, they reciprocate by releasing
cortisol in the bloodstream.1 Cortisol helps with quite a few of your body functions.
Some of these functions are stress response, balancing the effects of insulin, reducing
the immune system s inflammatory response, regulating

Electric Blanket Advantages And Disadvantages
An electric blanket has an electrical heating device built in that is meant to be
placed above the bed sheet. In Commonwealth countries, however, it refers to an
electric mattress pad that is kept below the bottom bed sheet. They comprise a
control unit that allows the user to adjust the heat produced by the device. Larger
size beds may even have two separate control units for both sides of the bed. An
electric blanketcan be useful to heat the bed to a certain level before sleeping to
keep the occupant cosy and warm. Typical low voltage electric blankets work on 12
24 volts and are made of thin carbon fibre wires. The electric blanket was invented
more than a century ago by American inventor Samuel Russell, while the first
recorded sale in the electric blanket market was by the Samson United Corporation in
1930.

The Current Time Period Of The World
In the current time period of the world we inhabit we are in a social media age.
Social media is websites that enable us to communicate with one another over the
internet. Some of these sites are twitter and Facebook. This like anything else
comes with pros and cons. An example of a pro would be it is easier for us to find
information with websites like google. A major con and what we will be
discussing today is a lack of personal communication with each other. It s quite the
contradiction that nowadays with social media it is easier to talk with people but
it s harder to have a real bond with them. We can meet people on sites like twitter
and Facebook or message boards but it isn t as intimate as having a face to face
conversation with another human being. This is making us a more lonely society.
In a survey people in 1985 had a mean size of 2.94 personal confidants in 2004 the
number was 2.08 (Marche 603). Also in 1985 10 percent of the American people
had no with whom to talk about important matters with and 15 percent said they
only had one good friend. By 2004 these numbers were up to 25 percent for nobody
to talk to and 20 percent for only one good friend (Marche 603). What these
numbers indicate is that the rise in technology has made us have less close
personal relationships. In 2004 social media wasn t as big as it is now so the
numbers for this might be even larger in 2015. These problems seem to be caused by
an overreliance on these websites and

beer industry except for the product itself. One of the keys to any business is
understanding trends and being able to monetize based on those trends. In recent

in the U.S. and Europe. In fact Molson Coors reported a 0.2% increase in sales in the
U.S., 3.6% growth in Europe, but in Canada they had a drop in sales of 8.2% year

Barack Obama s Presidency Of The Affordable Care Act
As President Barack Obama s presidency nears completion, it is natural that
America as a whole should look back and ask the question, Am I better off than I
was four, or even eight years ago? Although there are too many issues an
administration faces in eight years to focus on all of them, one of President
Obama s most notable acts in his two terms in office is the passing of the
Affordable Care Act (ACA), more commonly known as Obamacare. It remains a
controversial law, and has already faced multiple repeal attempts, challenges in the
Supreme Court, a presidential election, and continues to be challenged repeatedly
in Congress. The most recent CNN poll taken in January indicated that 51% of
those polled disapproved of how President Obama is handling health care
(President Obama and the Obama Administration, para. 12). As the 2016
Presidential elections heat up, it becomes an even bigger issue on the campaign
platforms of GOP candidates. The future of the Affordable Care Act could very well
lie with the next presidential administration. With a presidency on its way out that is
so well known for Obamacare and presidential candidates using their stance on
repealing the law as such a key point in their campaigns, one can t help but wonder,
how much does a candidate s standpoint on the issue affect the public s opinion of
them? Data collected in polls nationwide indicate that that despite a common negative
public opinion of Obamacare, a majority of Americans support adapting
My Writing Of Writing And Writing
Before I started this class, my writing ability was very execrable. I have passion in
writing stories, and writing about myself. I just didn t have any good experience in
a well written paper. I was used to writing in an informal way instead of formal. I
never knew how to start off the beginning paragraphs. I just thought about a topic,
and wrote without any process or organization. I would continue to write without
grabbing the reader s attention. Under no circumstances, did I know how to end it
because my topics were too broad.
To begin, I tried thinking of a much more focused topic. Then, I would have a way
to end the story so I would not write too much. Next, I free wrote about everything
that came to mind. After that, I added more information or detail to my essay
wherever it was needed. I again, went back and edited grammar mistakes that I
made. Although, I would take the time to revise my essay as much as I thought was
necessary. I rarely took the time and organized my information, so the organization
always seemed off to me.
Based off of the feedback that I received from my peers and instructor, my topics
were always right on point with what we were focusing on. The topics I wrote
about were always focused and not too broad. Another strength of mine was the
amount of time I took to revise my essays. I always tried to get at least two different
people to review my essay and give me constructive criticism. My conclusions always
went over everything I wrote about
The Philosophies of Alexander Hamilton and Thomas...
Preface The argument between Federalists and Anti Federalists might seem long gone
to American citizens, but still their philosophical foundations shape the teams, scope
and size of the battlefield. These philosophies go back to two lone men, Alexander
Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. Both fought aggressively for a government based
on their ideas, and both did make portions of the now standing American government.
This essay will outline the political, social and economic philosophies of both men,
how their philosophies influenced the government today, and a closing opinion.
Politics The political standings of Hamilton and Jefferson were the foundation and
beginning of their lifelong arguments and disagreements. Hamilton was the leader ...

Jefferson didn t like high taxes, tariffs, regulations or even a national bank. These
were all in violation of the kind of society and government he wished to see.
Jefferson believed in a utopia where all people would be self sufficient farmers and
have their own property, and a small government would be used to do the minimal
amount of work needed to keep the peace. Therefore, an economic system was
practically nonexistent. Alexander Hamilton, though, worked for a more complex
economic system. He planned out a national debt, public credit, a national bank and
a plan to pay off the debts the nation had accrued. He advocated to accept the old
debts of the Articles of Confederation, war debts, and state debts under his economic
policy because it gives the government some legitimacy, and it allows for the
government to obtain credit from other countries easily. To Alexander Hamilton, that
was just a small part of economics though. He needed to fund the government, and so
he was willing to do so via tariffs, taxes, and bonds. This plan just called upon the
clearing of the national debt, and didn t even cover the vast amounts of commerce
and mercantilism that he hoped would emulate England.
Social The social philosophies were not as complicated, since they would be a
direct product of the economy. It s evident that Jefferson s society would be small
and simple, where all people would be
Diabetic Neuropathy Essay
Diabetes affects virtually every aspect of the body and poorly controlled diabetes
increases the risk for diabetes related complications. Patients diagnosed with
mental illness are at an increased risk to develop diabetes complications as a result
of poor self care management (Green, Gazmarian, Rask, Druss, 2010). Dickerson et
al (2011) found that patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder tend to have a more
sedentary life, poor dietary intake, be obese, smoke and have an increased risk for
alcohol and illicit drug abuse. Each of these factors contribute to poor glycemic
control, which contributes to the development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Up
to 50% of patients diagnosed with diabetes have some form of diabetic neuropathy.
Diabetic neuropathy presents in the form of sensory neuropathy, motor neuropathy or
autonomic neuropathy. Sensory neuropathy may also be called polyneuropathy due
to the number of different nerve centers affected by damage. Over time elevated
glucose levels lead to extensive damage to the blood vessels that supply nerves to
numerous sites in the body. Continued assault upon nerves can lead to permanent
nerve damage, resulting in pain to affected areas and increased risk of injury, which

Plato s Views on Life after Death
Plato s views on life after death were manifold, and developed over time as an
examination of a bevy of his literature readily indicates. However, during all phases
of his writing he does demonstrate that there is in fact life after physical death, which
is widely attributed to his notion of the soul. Plat always viewed the soul as an entity
that was distinct from the physical body. Moreover, while the physical body was
destined to die, the soul was enduring, interminable, and destined to go on
somewhere in some state of being. In just what sort of way the soul would endure
was a matter of question, in which at various points in his career as a writer Plato
offered different accounts. Yet the most consistent part of this conception of the
author s was the fact that the soul was everlasting. One of the positive effects of
such a belief regarding the soul and its existence after the body s physical death is
that it can serve as motivation to lead a virtuous life. This fact is readily
demonstrated within the speech and actions of Socrates, who attempted to lead a
high life of virtue, reasoning, and thinking in order to protect his soul from any sort
of debauchery which might affect it in the afterlife. Socrates conception of the
afterlife was somewhat as muddled as Plato s, during The Apology he claimed he
knew nothing about it, yet he also asserts that it will either be a restful, lasting
slumber or a state in which one has an enjoyable degree of communication with the

Harry Connick Jr. Television Show Effect On Society
After visiting the Harry show it has made me wonder about how Harry Connick Jr.
television show effect people in society. Being that millions of people watch his

we attended have sent different messages to many people of all ages, and influence
those as well. Harry is a big face as a celebrity, so whether if he is a televisionhost,
singer, or actor, whatever he does will affect people negatively or positively.
For example, when Harry introduced Jacob Tremblay who starred in a hit movie
Wonder on the show. It may have sent a message to the youth in society stating that
whatever age you are, you can achieve anything you put your mind to. The episode
also shows how not everyone have a chance to experience being an audience of a
show or even being ask to talk on a show, so we should take advantage of every
opportunity that is offered. Also when Guillermo Diaz who plays in a drama
series Scandal, it also sends a meaning to adults as well. From this episode I learn
that society offers plenty, not everyone is as kind as Harry and his crew members,
and not everyone is willing to give people a chance a equality. I agree that Harry
reinforce social value on that episode because of the fact that he treated everyone
like family. In term paper part I, I talk about how Harry feels like talk shows shouldn

Persis was one of the most important characters in the book. At the beginning of the
story Silas didn t have very many morals to none at all. She helped him obtain the
morals he lives by. The reason these morals are so vital in the book is because
when he loses site of everything and pursues his desire to fit in he comes back to
these morals and realizes what he s been doing and sacrificing just to be one of

On Earthquakes Essay
On Earthquakes
An earthquake is a shaking or trembling of the crust of the earth caused by
underground volcanic action or by the breaking and shifting of rock beneath the
surface. The volcanic action and shifting rocks create strain which continues to
build to a sudden release of pressure resulting in a shock wave. The vibrations
produced in the crust can vary from barely noticeable to enormously destructive.
Shock waves can be classified into two broad categories. Waves that send particles
oscillating back and forth in the same direction as the waves are traveling are called
primary. Primary waves, sometimes called compressional waves, travel through the
earth beneath the crust. Secondary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

before the middle of the 18th century. However, some records do exist and date
major earthquake events back to 425 BC when one occurred off the coast of Greece
resulting in an island named Euboea. Another occurred in Asia Minor about AD 17
and another leveled much of the Roman city of Pompeii in AD 63. During the

The worst occurred in 1556 in the Shannxi (Shensi) Province in China and killed
an estimated 800,000 people. During the 18th century, the Japanese city of Edo
(site of modern day Tokyo) was struck and killed 200,000. Earthquakes in Sicily in
1693 and Lisbon in 1755 each killed about 60,000 people. In 1797, approximately

Why Is Calculus Important
Studying the history behind Calculus can seem, for the untrained eye, an impractical
use of time. One might think that since as Calculus students, we are using the most
advanced and contemporary functions of calculus, it s useless to look back and see
what people did before us. However, there are several reasons why looking at the
historical background of Calculusis important. As the lecture stated, the main reasons
why the historyof Calculus is important is that it opens our, being the students, eyes.
It opens our eyes to the motivation behind historical Calculus scholars. It opens our
eyes to how we can organize Calculus results. It opens our eyes to the human and
personal aspects of the people who developed calculus. Finally, it opens our eyes to
the link between faith and mathematics. In this historical discussion of the definite
integral, we will look at several of the founding fathers of this concept. To begin, the
first organized attempt at computing an exact computation of a mathematically
defined area was made by Eudoxus. Eudoxus was a Greek Mathematician and
astronomer, who also wrote and discussed on topics like geography and philosophy.
According to a Britannica article written by Henry Mendell,... Show more content on

It has been said that Eudoxus set the stage (Mendell) for Archimedes research and
findings for volume and proportions. Archimedes was born in Syracuse on the island
of Sicily, and is known for his mathematics, inventions of war machines, as well as
his studies in physics, astronomy, and engineering. He is often regarded as the father
of integral calculus (Rorres.) One fascinating concept Archimedes studied was
mentioned in the virtual lecture: Archimedes explored the concept of calculating the
area in a curve by calculating the volume of smaller and smaller triangles. This
method is similar to what we are currently using in our modern definite integral

  • 1. Topic For Informative Essay Crafting an essay on the topic "Topic For Informative Essay" poses a unique challenge, primarily due to the inherent ambiguity in the prompt. The task demands not only an in-depth understanding of the general principles of informative essay writing but also the ability to navigate the vast expanse of potential subjects encapsulated within the broad theme. The initial hurdle lies in deciphering what precisely the topic entails, requiring a careful analysis of the prompt to discern the key elements and scope. The subsequent difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between providing comprehensive information and maintaining reader engagement. Choosing a specific focus within the broader theme becomes crucial, and the writer must carefully select relevant subtopics that align with the informative nature of the essay. The challenge lies in steering clear of excessive details or overly broad discussions, as both can detract from the essay's effectiveness. Research becomes a critical aspect, as the writer must delve into diverse sources to gather accurate and up-to-date information. This process involves sifting through a plethora of data, verifying facts, and discerning the most relevant pieces to include in the essay. The difficulty intensifies when the chosen topic has limited scholarly resources or when conflicting information complicates the synthesis of a cohesive narrative. • 2. Feminism During 19th Century American Short Stories Kaylee Gould Ms. Henderson 3rd period Feminism in Late 19th Century American Short Stories Research Question: How is feminism revealed through the divergence of women s roles in society and their own personal desires in the American short stories The Yellow Wall Paper, The Story of an Hour, The Storm, and Life in the Iron Mills ? Introduction Literature changes as current events change and as the structure of society begins to shift. American feminist literature started to become prevalent during the Victorian era, or around the latter part of the 19th century. This is the time when the first wave of feminism in the United States hit. The Seneca Falls Convention the first women s rights convention and the emergence of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony s American Equal Rights Association in the middle of the 19th century are among some of the noteable events that sparked this movement in literature. Women across America were inspired by the changing of the times, and that is reflected in many American female authors writings. Some of these authors include Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Kate Chopin, and Rebecca Harding Davis, whose short stories speak volumes about the thoughts and emotions of women during this time period. Life in the Iron Mills was written in 1861, The Yellow Wall Paper in 1892, The Story of an Hour in 1894, and finally The Storm in 1898. Every story was written during the Victorian era; every author had personally experienced life
  • 3. How Did Rene Descartes Influence Ancient Greek Philosophy Rene Descartes is known as one of the greatest philosophers. His theories about the existence of God and how they relate to human beings were too much for the minds of his times. Rene often debated the relation between the mind and the body, being skeptical of himself. He was one of the of the primary representatives in the scientific revolution and has been described as the role model of a genius. He didn t accept the mandate of other philosophers and refused to accept the transparency of his own feelings. Rene Descartes was born on March 31, 1596, in La Haye en Tourine, France. His parents were Joachim Descartes (1563 1640) and Jeanne Brochard (1566 1597). The materials of study included logic, morals, physics, and metaphysics. At 16, RenГ© Descartes successfully completed his education. He then went on and studied at the University of Poitiers in France, earning himself a law degree from Poitiers in 1616. It was a degree that he took to comply with his father s wish. But that is not the road he wanted to follow. While in France, some say that there is little known about his life and spent most of his time isolated. Possibly, he was suffering a mental breakdown. In Amsterdam, he had a relationship with a servant girl, Helena Jans van der Strom, with whom he had a daughter, Francine, who was born in 1635 in Deventer. She died when she was only five years old in 1640. Her death inspired him to create a conceptual like figure of her. This for him portrayed the grief and sadness that a parent suffers when their child has

Analysis Of Swan By Saint-Swan Since the composition Il bianco e dolce cigno means the sweet white swan, the sound quality of this particualr piece reminded me Swan that was composed by Romantic composition Swan by Saint Saens. One way by trying to make this piece match wit the description of the piece is by readjust the slur in the composition. Even though the piece itself was very syllabic but in order to create that smooth flow and gesture of the swan, in my arragement I add in more slur between phrases in order to showcase the elegent sound of the swan and try to put some romanticism in the composition. One other reason that I choose such an instrumentation for the arrangement is because out of all the instrument that is avaliable to us today, cello is one of the few instrument that have the closest voice range to the human voice. Because of it s wide voice range, it can imitate the sound of human voice closest compare to other string instruments. Out of all the string instrument, cello have a voice range that sounds more similar to human voice. Furthermore, it s one of of the few instrument that is more natural for people to perform on. In addition, the color that a cello can produce represents varieties of geture mood. From a low bass sound which symbolized sorrow and calm to it s high pitch where it can be quite exerciting and energetic. • 5. Extent Primate Analysis 1.Introduction: Extent Primates provide great insight as analogies into facilitating an understanding of how tool use, culture and cognition developed in the early hominid lineage. Archaeologists interpret primate behaviors and social structures as a means of investigating the evolution of hominin technology. This process will be briefly outlined as well as a number of the benefits and disadvantages presented when using extant primates as analogies in this way. An analogy creates a comparison between two subjects through likening and contrasting aspects about them. Thus looking into extant primate tool usage, one can gain insight into possible early hominin tool usage. This, as they can provide, to a certain extent, a living interpretation ... This is significantly different to that of hominids who have hands and thumbs which are very effective and allow for precise knapping and control over hammer stones. This illustrates that their differences in physical characteristics lead to distinctly different behaviors that cannot be considered the
  • 6. Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis TertiusBy Jorge Luis Borges Ana Bahena English 102D Izenberg November 2, 2017 Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius Jorge Luis Borges is widely known for his bizarre short stories that question all aspects of life and our world. Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is no different putting into question everything we believe to be true. Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is a narrative account of an individual who has discovered the fictional land of Uqbar in one of the version of an encyclopedia. Throughout the story, the man keeps investigating more on this place and finds that its importance comes from Tlon, one of the subdivisions of Uqbar, and its literature. No matter how many variations of Uqbar (Ukbar, Ucbar, Ookbar, Oukbahr) he searches for, he cannot seem to find this place. In order to appease the narrator, Casares tells him that [Uqbar] was a region in Iraq or Asia Minor (Borges 68). Casares uses words and places that the narrator knows and connects with so that the narrator can place this fictional world within the real world. Although completely doubtful of his friend, the narrator consults the atlases of Justus Perthes just to make sure that Uqbar is not real, as he believes it to be. This part in the short story, although minute, is crucial because it causes tension between that the narrator believes to be real and that which he doubts to be real. In this same manner, the text itself is causing tension between what the reader knows to be real and what is fiction. The reader assumes that what he/she is reading is fiction, but this comes in conflict with the constant use of real works and people such as the Encyclopedia Britannica, the N.R.F, Bioy Casares, Justus Perthes, and many others. The specificity of terms and names of real authors and theorists that are fused into the work bring an apparent legitimacy to what is read. Yet, as the reader continues, the story becomes seemingly false. The reader s experience is mirrored in the text as the narrator goes through a similar development of realization regarding the encyclopedia entry on Uqbar. As

When the maquiladora industry first began they did not want foreign equipment or raw material to be sold in Mexico without being subject to duty. The Mexican government had its own regulations, within those regulations the maquilas were not allowed to sell completed products in Mexican markets with the risk of losing their registration and continuance of importing goods free of duty. This regulation began to lose its standards in the 1970s. According to Hanson, once the rules weren t practiced like before its import changed and allowed the use of maquiladoras as part of its Border Industrialization Program. Prince Of A Town Called Bel Air Prince of a Town Called Bel Air Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down, and I d like to take a minute, just sit right here, I ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air (Smith). Many 90s kids memorized this opening to the hit television show The Fresh Prince of Bel Air . Sometimes you can t help but rap the words and visualize Will Smith spinning in front of a graffiti background. Will Smith stars in the show as a fictionalized version of himself. The theme song sets the premise for the entire show. Smith was a street smart, African American teenager born in West Philadelphia. However, while playing basketball, he got in a confrontation with a group of men. This frightened his mother, who sent him to Bel Air to live with his wealthy aunt and uncle. Smith grew up in a working class environment and is now exposed to an upper class world. This is a theme around which many of the show s plots revolve. The effect of the lyrics to this theme song goes beyond pure entertainment value. Smith is hyper aware that he is combatting the prevalent television representation, at the time, of young black males as thugs. Through this 90s comical theme song, Smith, who was born and raised in West Philadelphia himself, confirms the stereotype of the urban, black, young thug and complicates that stereotype by depicting himself as nothing like that. As an appeal to ethos, Smith is initially portrayed as a person with good sense, good moral

The first time I heard about these women was when I was reading about Greek mythology when I was younger. It was amazing to me that the idea of warrior women was addressed in the myths I was reading. To me the myths were about usually these buff and quick witted men who were always the ones who were the central figures of the stories I was reading. I thought these women were amazing but I only thought of them as fictional characters in the myths. I could never have dreamed when I was younger that The Amazonsmight be real. I had no idea when I was younger were based at all on any resemblance of fact when to me they seemed to only be a fantasy or fictional character put into the story to move the story along so the main characters could accomplish their goal. As I found out later in my life the Amazons are most likely way more real than was previously thought. Theses myths about these amazing warrior women may have actually been based on fact. I believe that the Amazons were based on fact and not some myth created to entertain people or teach a lesson. They lived and fought and were not some wisp of an idea twisted into a myth or only characters in somebody s mind but were flesh and blood. People today are not the only ones who have been fascinated with the Amazons. The Amazons were immensely popular with the Greeks and

Tom Standage decides to magnify the microscopic drops of history that had seemed to slip our minds so easily as just a thirst quencher. Beer, for example, was a drink that affected the lifestyle of humans; the humans who had made the switch between being nomads to building more permanent homes. Coke, on the other hand, had made its mark on the American culture and then had spread itself to other cultures all around the world. Coffee had formed a new type of franchise, coffee houses, an internet hub; coffee houses had even become a staple in some people s daily lives. It s the differences in each drink that can determine the way they affect our culture. Beer, the first beverage appeared as a result of changed lifestyle for the early humans. Before, humans were nomads, who would follow their food (pg. 9). But starting about 12,000 years ago humans had picked up on a new lifestyle (pg. 9). These small bands of about 30 people were now settling down in more permanent areas and had abandoned their old ways of constantly traveling (pg. 9). This drastic turning point in human history seemed to primarily come from one reason, the discovery of beer (pg.11). As beer was basically formed from the gathering of barley and wheat, humans had to form some type of permanent residency, and abandon their old nomadic lifestyle (pg.11). The Drink of reason, coffee, seems to not have changed much culturally to this day, as when it is brought to the table over 250 years ago (pg. 170). • 13. Teaching Is An Integral Part Of My Personality Teaching is an integral part of my personality, it is not just a job that takes a few hours of my day, nor is it a means to earn a living, rather it is a way of life. Since the early days of my youth, I used to imagine myself as a teacher, and to discuss with myself what I have learned, directing questions and trying to extract answers. Such a way proved to be very fruitful, not only in explaining the targeted topics, but also in raising new ideas in my mind. Afterwards it became clear to me; I know that I understand something when I can explain it to others. This has become my way of dealing with any subject. When the topic is difficult, I consider myself in front of a personal challenge, and do my best to simplify it into its easiest possible level. This has become my basic contribution in teaching, to dismantle any complex topic to its simplest elements, so that students do not face any problem in dealing with it; that is in discussing, analysing, and understanding it. The conversion of complex ideas into simpler equivalents is such an arduous task that requires time and effort, but I chose this it as my method in teaching, because I believe that it is the students right to get clear ideas, not a confused set of thoughts. Apart from my personal inclinations, my teaching experience has provided me with a good opportunity to deal with students from diverse backgrounds, and to explore different teaching methods with them. As a lecturer at Cairo University, I have gained

The harpsichord was already in it s decline by Haydn s time and the fortepiano was rapidly becoming popular among musicians, professionals and amateurs alike. However, it had not yet become obsolete. There were many amateurs and professional musicians who still owned a harpsichord or two, including Haydn, who owned a few harpsichords himself. (He owned a similar harpsichord as the one pictured on the left.) Haydn grew up learning the harpsichord and even taught the harpsichord when he was a older. Yet, the harpsichord was becoming a thing of the past. While the harpsichord was not yet obsolete, the way music for the keyboard was being written was changing. Edward L. Kottick in his book, A History of the Harpsichord, writes that The dynamics in the late sonatas of Haydn can be realized to perfection on an English Harpsichord with machine and swell,...,but Haydn s sonatas are piano music and achieve their full potential only on that instrument. However, Haydn abandoned the harpsichord a few years before the nineteenth century. Helen Rice Hollis in her book, The Piano A Pictorial Account of its ancestry and development, writes: He [Haydn] urged Madame von Genzinger [a close friend of Haydn s] to buy a piano saying he could no longer compose for a harpsichord. So right at the beginning of nineteenth century we already see the

An example of a pro would be it is easier for us to find information with websites like google. A major con and what we will be discussing today is a lack of personal communication with each other. It s quite the contradiction that nowadays with social media it is easier to talk with people but it s harder to have a real bond with them. We can meet people on sites like twitter and Facebook or message boards but it isn t as intimate as having a face to face conversation with another human being. This is making us a more lonely society. In a survey people in 1985 had a mean size of 2.94 personal confidants in 2004 the number was 2.08 (Marche 603). By 2004 these numbers were up to 25 percent for nobody to talk to and 20 percent for only one good friend (Marche 603). What these numbers indicate is that the rise in technology has made us have less close personal relationships. In 2004 social media wasn t as big as it is now so the numbers for this might be even larger in 2015. These problems seem to be caused by an overreliance on these websites and

I just didn t have any good experience in a well written paper. I was used to writing in an informal way instead of formal. I never knew how to start off the beginning paragraphs. I just thought about a topic, and wrote without any process or organization. I would continue to write without grabbing the reader s attention. Under no circumstances, did I know how to end it because my topics were too broad. To begin, I tried thinking of a much more focused topic. Then, I would have a way to end the story so I would not write too much. Next, I free wrote about everything that came to mind. After that, I added more information or detail to my essay wherever it was needed. I again, went back and edited grammar mistakes that I made. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jefferson didn t like high taxes, tariffs, regulations or even a national bank. These were all in violation of the kind of society and government he wished to see. Jefferson believed in a utopia where all people would be self sufficient farmers and have their own property, and a small government would be used to do the minimal amount of work needed to keep the peace. Therefore, an economic system was practically nonexistent. Alexander Hamilton, though, worked for a more complex economic system. He planned out a national debt, public credit, a national bank and a plan to pay off the debts the nation had accrued. He advocated to accept the old debts of the Articles of Confederation, war debts, and state debts under his economic policy because it gives the government some legitimacy, and it allows for the government to obtain credit from other countries easily. To Alexander Hamilton, that was just a small part of economics though. He needed to fund the government, and so he was willing to do so via tariffs, taxes, and bonds. This plan just called upon the clearing of the national debt, and didn t even cover the vast amounts of commerce and mercantilism that he hoped would emulate England. Social The social philosophies were not as complicated, since they would be a direct product of the economy. It s evident that Jefferson s society would be small and simple, where all people would be

However, during all phases of his writing he does demonstrate that there is in fact life after physical death, which is widely attributed to his notion of the soul. Plat always viewed the soul as an entity that was distinct from the physical body. Moreover, while the physical body was destined to die, the soul was enduring, interminable, and destined to go on somewhere in some state of being. In just what sort of way the soul would endure was a matter of question, in which at various points in his career as a writer Plato offered different accounts. Yet the most consistent part of this conception of the author s was the fact that the soul was everlasting. One of the positive effects of such a belief regarding the soul and its existence after the body s physical death is that it can serve as motivation to lead a virtuous life. This fact is readily demonstrated within the speech and actions of Socrates, who attempted to lead a high life of virtue, reasoning, and thinking in order to protect his soul from any sort of debauchery which might affect it in the afterlife. Socrates conception of the afterlife was somewhat as muddled as Plato s, during The Apology he claimed he knew nothing about it, yet he also asserts that it will either be a restful, lasting slumber or a state in which one has an enjoyable degree of communication with the

During the 18th century, the Japanese city of Edo (site of modern day Tokyo) was struck and killed 200,000. Earthquakes in Sicily in 1693 and Lisbon in 1755 each killed about 60,000 people. In 1797, approximately 40,000 died when Quito, Ecuador was struck. Historically, the most powerful earthquakes to strike North America occurred in 1811 and 1812 in southeastern Missouri. However, the most famous earthquake to strike in North America
  • 39. Why Is Calculus Important Studying the history behind Calculus can seem, for the untrained eye, an impractical use of time. One might think that since as Calculus students, we are using the most advanced and contemporary functions of calculus, it s useless to look back and see what people did before us. However, there are several reasons why looking at the historical background of Calculusis important. As the lecture stated, the main reasons why the historyof Calculus is important is that it opens our, being the students, eyes. It opens our eyes to the motivation behind historical Calculus scholars. It opens our eyes to how we can organize Calculus results. It opens our eyes to the human and personal aspects of the people who developed calculus. Finally, it opens our eyes to the link between faith and mathematics. In this historical discussion of the definite integral, we will look at several of the founding fathers of this concept. To begin, the first organized attempt at computing an exact computation of a mathematically defined area was made by Eudoxus. Eudoxus was a Greek Mathematician and astronomer, who also wrote and discussed on topics like geography and philosophy. According to a Britannica article written by Henry Mendell,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has been said that Eudoxus set the stage (Mendell) for Archimedes research and findings for volume and proportions. Archimedes was born in Syracuse on the island of Sicily, and is known for his mathematics, inventions of war machines, as well as his studies in physics, astronomy, and engineering. He is often regarded as the father of integral calculus (Rorres.) One fascinating concept Archimedes studied was mentioned in the virtual lecture: Archimedes explored the concept of calculating the area in a curve by calculating the volume of smaller and smaller triangles. This method is similar to what we are currently using in our modern definite integral

The Mission Command Principle Analysis of Yitzhak Rabin during the Six Day War During these battles, there are clear examples of General Rabin successfully building cohesive teams through mutual trust. Before the war, Rabin had no other option but to plan a deliberate attack against Egypt and his allies. He ensured that all his staff was present and contributed to the plan. According to Dayan, Before fighting began, Israel s General Staff sat down to plan the coming battle. Armed sentries blocked the entrance to the army headquarters. The noise of radios is incessantly pour out information, lights burning day and night (Dayan, 1968).
