2. Redemption In The Kite Runner
Reaching Redemption
Sin and the quest for redemption is the theme that I think has the greatest impact to the
central idea of The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Starting in the very beginning of
this novel, Khaled Hosseini begins to reveal the conflict through Amir and Hassan, the
close friendship of the son of his father s servant.Without even knowing it, the action of
Assef rapping Hassan Assef knelt behind Hassan, put his hands on Hassan s hips and
lifted his bare buttocks. (75), is what will begin Amir s inner conflict that carries on
through the book as he discovers his quest for redemption as we see later on in this novel.
We are introduced to the significance in a flash forward, There is a way to be good
again (2). We the readers are shown that Amir in this book has something that he... Show

As Amir is being brutally beat by Assef he lays there without a struggle just like
Hassan did. Amir now knows that this is it. He has redeemed himself. Amir realizes
that he is getting what he deserves. My body was broken just how badly I wouldn t
find out until later but I felt healed. Healed at last Pg. 298. This is the climax of the
book because Amir is finally redeemed, and his conflict is resolved. Khaled Hosseini
showed how Amir s being beaten in order to free Sohrab is what redeemed Amir of his
sin and guilt towards Hassan. This redeemed Amir because he felt like this is what he
deserved all along. He knew that if he had tried to stand up for Hassan against Assef
the first time he would of gotten beaten up. He knew he deserved it eventually. Khaled
Hosseini s purpose of this theme was to show There was a way to be good again. It is
significant to resolving the conflict of this story, and to make Amir good again. I
conclude that the theme Sin and the request for redemption. In life second chances are
rare, but Amir is given a way to be good
3. Bucho s Use Of Cinematography In Desperado
Throughout Desperado cinematography is exhibited in a multitude of various ways that
limits the percentage of the diegesis that is shown. It is the deciding factor that
determines what will and what will not be in the film. The aspects of cinematography are
utilized in constructing our emotions of the film, directing our focus, and in creating the
entirety of the space.
The camera is the main element in cinematography that directs our attention in different
scenes. For example, in the beginning of the film we see Bucemi enter a bar. As he
tells the story of the unknown man who killed everyone in the other bar, the camera
goes back and forth to Bucemi s and the bartender s face. This is done so that the
auidience s attention is mainly on their facial expressions as the story is being told.
Another example is when the main character tells Carolina that Bucho s men killed the
women he loved and shot him in the hand. In this scene, a close up distance is used to
show only the mariachi s face. That way our concertation is solely on his face and the
emotions that are displayed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, there is a long shot at the end of the movie that shows the mariachi
walking and the truck that they drove approaching. The truck stops in front of him and
the audience gets a close up of Carolina s face. This shapes the audience s feelings in a
way in that causes them to feel satisfied that the mariachi and the girl will stay together.
Another example is when Bucemi informs the bartender of what he experienced in the
other bar. There is a flashback of the event that shows the mariachi walking into the bar.
A shadow is casted over his face which alludes to his menacing and threating character.
This causes the audience to feel that he is dangerous and

5. The Effects Of Divorce On Family Members
Divorce affects family members in many different ways, both positive and negative.
While many children can foster healthy relationships post divorce, some may experience
challenges maintaining future relationships after dealing with their parents divorce. How
can parent do this to their child? One of the most important thing is to teach your child
about building a relationship so they can be positive and can have positive thinking about
getting married to have a familyon their and work things out with their partner in a
positive way. A child to be involved in a parent s relationship is a way to express their
feelings. Or so they can insure they don t have anxiety when they are older. According to
Dr. John Duffy, Chicago based psychotherapist and author of The Available Parent,
children of divorceoften focus too much on failed relationships and assume they will
experience the same fate. Duffy suggests that parents be clear that they believe in
marriageand stress to their children that it s worth the risk to experience a close
relationship . A healthy relationship is built by using trust children throughout the world
of divorced parents have a tendency they struggle with trust. When working through their
own relationship challenges, especially if they have witnessed a breakdown of trust
between their own parents. According to Walfish, these trust issues carry over into their
future relationships. I ve treated many teenage girls whose fathers cheated, had an
6. Changing Economic Structure Of The United States Economy
Change in Economic Structure Harmful to U.S. Economy By: Samuel Winegar
Submitted to: Dr. S. Ray Barnes 05/05/2015 Thesis Unemployment has been on the rise
in the United States in recent years. One of the large contributing factors of this is the
change in the structure of the country s economy. Many jobs, particularly
manufacturing and industrial type jobs are being outsourced to other countries. An
increase in unemployment due to a change in the economy is structural unemployment.
This paper will discuss how structure unemployment is causing harm to the United
States economy. Background It is evident that the economy of the United States is
changing. The world in which we used to see an economy of all American made
products and American services is rapidly disappearing. Many American companies
are outsourcing the jobs they have to offer to other countries. These are the very jobs
that helped create our economy and help us thrive. James Moreland states The
capitalist market in the United States makes it nearly impossible for any successful
company to avoid the lure of cutting American industrial jobs and shipping the work
abroad. Free trade agreements such as NAFTA and our membership in the WTO have
caused the U.S. to be forced to compete with third world countries such as China and
Mexico, where wages are often less than $4 an hour. (Moreland 2014) in his article The
Outsourcing of American Jobs Hurts The Economy on Every Level . However, with

The topic of discussion for our group essay, is the Artillery utilized in the battle of
Gettysburg. As we know, the battle of Gettysburg was the bloodiest battle throughout the
Civil War, it holds the longest Artillery bombardment in American history, and it utilized
multiple artillery pieces and a common technique to deliver fires. In this essay you will
read a brief summary of the battle of Gettysburg, the artillerypieces used, the common
method of delivering fires, and how that has shaped and molded the way we deliver fires
currently. The artillery used in during the Battle of Gettysburg, was continuous, lethal,
and used in conjunction with infantry and Calvary.
On July 1st at Cemetery Hill, a large number of casualties from Heth and Pender s

effectiveness at the Peach Orchard, Wheat Field, Devil s Den and Little Round Top,

Pickett s Charge. The Confederates sent an infantry assault of 12,000 against the
Union at Cemetery Ridge, but were met by Union rifle and artillery fire. As a result of
the assault, General Lee was met with great casualties and led his troops back towards
Virginia. The Battle of Gettysburg consisted of many different types of artillery pieces,

10. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Piezoelectric
Piezoelectric Materials
The term Piezoelectric is made up of two words Piezo and electric . Piezo is a Greek
word which means Pressure thus Piezoelectric means electricity produced by Pressure.
Pierre Curie and Jacques in 1880 experimented on many crystals such as tourmaline,
quartz, topaz, cane sugar and Rochelle salt which shows this phenomenon. These crystals
produced electricity (small amount) on small deformation of their body. Later in 1881, it
was observed that these crystals can show reverse phenomena also i.e. these crystals
deform when they are kept in an environment having electric field.
Mechanism: To produce electricity a material should be net polarized. Positive and
negative charges should be separated and they should give ... Show more content on

Bulk Polymer 2.Composite polymer 3.Void Charged Polymer
Bulk Polymer: This kind of polymer shows piezoelectric effect because of their
molecular structure. Two kinds of polymer which shows this effect are amorphous and
semi crystalline polymers. PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) is one of the best examples of
semi crystalline polymer used in various materials. A semi crystalline polymer can be
viewed as in an amorphous region small locations of randomly oriented microscopic
crystals are present and poling is a process which is required to reorient these crystals so
that dipole is present.
Composite Polymer: They are more or less similar to inorganic piezoelectric materials.
Randomly or arranged rods present in a bulk film of polymer are known to be
composites. They are having both advantage i.e. mechanical flexibility of polymers as
well as high dielectric constant. These materials are generally used in acoustic devices
because its acoustic impedance is low.
Void Charged Polymer: As the name suggests it is a type of polymer where polymer
surface is surrounded by internal gas voids. When the surface gets charged, couples
electrical and mechanical energy gives a high piezoelectric coefficient which is far
greater than piezoelectric

Throughout the past semester, we in Acting 2 have studied the different techniques
and methods of acting adopted by the great teachers. From Stanislavsky to Stella
Adler, Lee Strasberg to Michael Chekov, we have learned the many different views of
what makes a good actor. While outside class we read about these techniques and took
notes on their specifics, in class, we participated in workshops in order to get a true
understanding of their ideals. This way, we could actually see which seemed to work
for us and which did not. Different styles seemed to work for different people, on a
purely individual basis. Through these studies and experiments, we were able to
understand the differences in the techniques and the pros and cons of... Show more

Aside from script analysis, Stanislavsky also suggests using some of your own
memories to invoke a desired reaction, but making sure to keep it separate from the
character. He also often used action verbs in order to understand a character s
objectives; instead of saying a character is asking in a given scene, it is much more
effective to say a character is prodding or penetrating or even plunging . These types of
words can invoke a much clearer and real response. In our workshop for Stanislavsky,
we focused on a warm up technique he used that revolved around relaxation.
Relaxation, according to Stanislavsky, is the best way to focus both our minds and
bodies so that we are prepared to employ the highest amount of concentration on a
scene. Therefore, for our workshop, after dimming the lights, we all laid on the floor.
First, we went through our bodies relaxing every muscle as we went. I found that I was
tense in areas I never even realized. After this, we, led by Anjalee, journeyed on a type of
out of body experience as we attempted to both see and hear the world on a large scale,
which required great concentration. This concentration was only heightened due to the
relaxation exercises we had just undergone. Personally, I found the relaxation and the
concentration techniques very successful, but only for being relaxing and heightening
concentration. I still do not quite see how they truly would help my acting.

A critical examination of the inter relationship between ethnicity and nationalism in
Eritrea Introduction The notions of ethnicity and nationalism have been used to discuss
the formation of what is so called a nation state. Many anthropologists (e.g. Eriksen,
1993) assert that ethnicity is a multifaceted product of ever changing social relations and
organisation. In a similar way, Eriksen (1993) discusses nationalism as a social cohesion
defined by its relationship to the state. Echoing further dichotomy to the anthropologists
interpretation, Brubaker (2004) also affirms the presence of normative ambivalence and
conceptual ambiguity in the study of ethnicity and nationalism. What such debates
suggest is therefore neither the definitions nor the relationship between ethnicity and
nationalism has been straightforward. From an anthropological point of view, loyal
individuals who share symbols, history and found a common expression among
themselves claim an imagined concept of civic nationhood (Eriksen, 1993). On the other
hand, a different form of nationalism can be traced from vertical relationship between
ethnicities competing for power (ibid.). Nonetheless, nationalism exists as an abstract
conception that involves exclusion and inclusion of inevitably changing identities
(Eriksen, 1993; Smith, 1994 and Brubaker, 2004). Despite the above controversies,
anthropological analyses of ethnicity and nationalism play a crucial role in mediating the
different

In ancient Greek and Norse mythology they had the gods and goddesses as characters
that would pop up now and again. Characters like Ares, Poseidon, Hercules, Odin, and
Thor are all characters that reached iconic levels in modern era storytelling due to their
popularity in the storytelling of ancient times. In medieval countries like England and
Germany, they had stock characters such as the Knight, the Princess, and the creature
that usually represented the Devil. Due to the sheer number of Native American tribes
that have been documented and with each having their own set of beliefs, stories, and

Role of Minorities in the Canadian Armed Forces
With the belief that they were superior in patriotism, many people alienated minorities
during World War II. In terms of the military ranking and task, many minorities were
restricted. Many Chinese Canadians were not accepted into the air force or navy. The
Japanese Canadians were considered enemies and were subjected to many hate crimes
during the given time. They were also often turned down when applying for a position

of generalization and prejudice. Additionally, racism played a part in the... Show more

This policy was abolished later on in the war. Additionally the government, as well as
the military made it very difficult for racial minorities to ascend the ranks in the army. A
lesser portion of the Chinese immigrants did not want to join the armed forces because
they believed they had been treated unfairly. When World War II started, the head tax on
Chinese immigrants had not yet been abolished. The Chinese people were discriminated
against and were forced to pay to immigrate to Canada because of their ethnicity. It can be
argued that this policy s purpose was to discourage Chinese people from settling in
Canada. The British Columbian and Saskatchewan government both disagreed with idea
of enlisting Chinese Canadians in the army. They thought that after war, the Chinese
Canadians would demand the right to vote. Although many Chinese Canadians, were
opposed to fighting for Canada because of the discrimination that they faced (head tax),
many youth still enlisted because they wanted to show their loyalty to their country. After
Japan entered the war, the british began accepting Chinese Canadians to fight. They
fought behind Japanese lines in China, Sarawak, Malaya. Although approximately 600
Chinese Canadians had served by the end of World War II, the contributions of many of
these men went unnoticed. One such man was George Chow, who was accepted into the

The Greek civilization suggest the Gender gap as being of a more strategic
implication rather than a gender viewpoint. The male having dominance over woman
is a theme in Greek mythology, from sons allying with mothers to defeat the fathers, to

subservient to her husband, using trickery to overcome Zeus plans. Although the
feminine does play an important role it is one of creation and nurturing. Likewise, in
the Genesis story, woman is created from man and is made to give him aid. After they

20. The Use Of Personal Anecdotes On The Audience And It
It is within the human nature to be interested in other people s experiences. Whether it
be with reality shows or blog posts, people like to hear different incidents through
diverse perspectives. Writers take advantage of this curiosity and try to tie
experiences into their works. Many times writers will include experiences of their own
in order to convince their audience of their perspective on a subject. These personal
experiences are done in order to make an impact on the audience and it is written in a
certain way to make it the most efficient for the readers. The use of personal anecdotes
is effective when details are described to the point where readers can create their own
opinions, when they are used as the main topic against an argumentas opposed to being an
unimportant detail, and when it has the ability to appeal to the audience s emotion.
Details within the anecdote are best described to the point where the audience can draw
their own conclusions on what is happening. Description is crucial in order to fully
understand what is going on. In the case of Blue Collar Brilliance , written by Mike
Rose, the author puts in a lot of time to adequately describe what the significance of his
experiences mean and how they contribute to the story. Fry four on two, my mother
would say as she clipped a check onto the metal wheel. Her tables were deuces, four
tops, or six tops according to their size... (Rose 262). His personal encounter with his

21. Examples Of Ligeia And The Fall Of The House Of Usher
Edgar Allan Poe is an American Gothic author from the 19th century. It is well known
that Edgar Allan Poe was a master of suspense. The word suspense is defined by the
Oxford Dictionary to be A state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what
may happen. Two of Poe s works are Ligeia and The Fall of the House Usher . Ligeiais
the story of an unnamed narrator in love with his wife Lady Ligeia and how he copes
with her death. The fall of the House of Usheris the story of an unnamed narrator visiting
his friend Roderick Usher at his house. Both of them are full of suspense and this is the
main topic this essay will be focusing on. This essay will attempt to illustrate how Poe
builds suspense in his short stories... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, later in the story, the narrator is the one seeing movement and hearing sighs.
But as the narrator is an opium addict, the reader also assumes it is a hallucination.
Because these two narrators are unreliable, the reader can t trust anything to what it is
about to happen. However, throughout the stories, Poe is leaving clues to the reader
in order to solve the mystery. It is called foreshadowing and this what the second part
will be dealing with. As it was said in the first part, Lady Rowena and the narrator in
Ligeia are seeing inexplicable things but it is considered as hallucinations. However, it
is actually clues from the author, in order to prepare the reader to see Ligeia appear. At
the beginning of the story, Poe takes the time to do an extensive depiction of Ligeia in
order to the reader to be on the lookout for slightest resemblance. These hallucinations are
only sharpening the reader s attention because a small part of him knows something is
happening but doesn t know what and make him read faster to know the end.
Poe is also using foreshadowing in The Fall of the House of Usher . At the beginning
of the story, before the narrator enters the house he says: Perhaps the eye of a
scrutinizing observer might have discovered a barely perceptible fissure, which,
extending from the roof of the building in front, made its way down the wall in a zigzag
direction, until it became lost in the sullen waters of the tarn. The small crack described

At this point in my life the career path which interests me the most is the Foreign
Service. This is has been a career interest of mine throughout high school and continues
to be today. Saying that getting a job in the State Department is hard is a bit of an
understatement. After spending months researching others endeavors trying to get
employed the Department of State, I ve learned it is one long battle. You are essentially
competing with yourself every time. Surprisingly with all the negative experiences of
getting hired I ve received, I still want to pursue it. For me, the biggest reason why I
want to do this is the opportunity to travel and really immerse myself with people from
various cultures. It is also about broadening... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People currently in the Foreign Service have said that the degree you go after doesn t
really make a difference. Age does matter, you have to be at 20 and under 59.
Individuals must pass the standardized test and must be able to submit a resume with
past experiences. After passing that test, you are invited to participate in the oral
exam, where you have to play the role of an embassy officer and work with your team
mates to solve complex problems. It also helps to be proficient in two or more
different languages. The salary in the Foreign Service is a bit complex, people who
want to go in to must understand its limitations. It is also important to understand that
Foreign Service officers live around the world, not always in Washington D.C. and
they are usually relocated every two to three years. Relocating every so often can
become quite expensive, which is why Diplomats are offered a generous stipend or
free housing overseas, this is done through a Quarter s allowance. They will provide
you with housing but all other luxuries (T.V, internet, cleaning, lawn service, servants,
and deterioration of furnishing) are paid by the individual who resides there. If you
have children, their overseas education is also covered. The agency also provides many
more benefits. Besides benefits, the Foreign Service uses a pay scale system that
24. The Seven Deadly Sins In The Canterbury Tales
The Canterbury Tales, just as the title outlines is the literacy work of pilgrims and
their tales during a trip to and from Canterbury. The tales and characters in the works
of Chaucer all differ in many ways, however, we can link them by relating the tales to
the seven deadly sins. The seven deadly sins include; pride, lust, greed, sloth, wrath,
envy, and gluttony. Huberd the Friar, is a man of begging. Through him, we find the
first sin; pride. Pride is the excessive view of one s self without regard to others. The
Friar makes his living by begging and receiving. He takes from those of more wealth
and scorns money from companies of other beggars by spreading the word of God
(Rossignol, The Friar ). Portraying to the audience that he is more focused on his own
wealth and not necessarily on spreading the word, representing one s self with no
regards to others. The Wife of Bath, a woman named Alison who has been married
five times. In this character, we find the second sin; lust. Lust is the desire to fulfill a
certain action, sexual desires. The wife laughs about how she had to work hard to keep
her older husbands sexually active in her favor of satisfaction (Bloom, The Canterbury
Tales ). Her lust is most shown when she shares the story of meeting her fifth husband.
She found her fifth husband at her fourth husband s funeral, she fell into a lust spell at
the sight of his legs as he stood behind her deceased husband s casket (Bloom, The
Canterbury Tales). The wife s
25. How Is Diction Used In The Great Gatsby
The biggest disease known to mankind is loneliness. (Author unknown). This quote
describes darkness in one s life when one tries everything in his power to be with
someone and it does not work. This is the case in the novel The Great Gatsby when the
main character Gatsby falls in love with Daisy, yet she is taken and unavailable but he
continues to chase her and only ends up short. In The Great Gatsby, the author F. Scott
Fitzgerald, uses literary elements in the novel is to create the story. Diction is the word
choice that controls tone and mood. Symbolism is used when one thing is meant to
represent something else. Fitzgerald s use of symbolism and diction creates the mood
and tone of darkness, loneliness, and deception which drives... Show more content on

This shows that Gatsby wanted to be with Daisy and did everything to be with her so
when it did not work out, he had nothing. This created the tone and mood of emptiness
and loneliness. Another example of the mood created after Daisy and Tom leave
without of trace is when Nick describes them after they have gone. They were careless
people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back
into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together,
and let other people clean up the mass they made... (Chapter 9) This represents that
Tom and Daisy do not take responsibility for their actions and let others clean up after
them after leaving to go to Europe. This creates tone and mood of carelessness and
facade. Tom and Daisy do not appear to be who they are and this leads to emptiness and
26. Soccer is the Most Popular Sport in the World
Soccer is the most popular sport in the world with over 200 professional leagues all
across the globe(Fifa). But when it comes to soccer leagues, there is only one league
that stands above all and that is the Barclay s Premier league. The Barclay s Premier
league is a soccer league in England that consists of twenty professional soccer
teams(Premierleague). The Barclay s Premier has exclusive characteristics among all the
leagues that make it the best in the world. A profitable league for all clubs is just one
important element of the Barclays Premier. Just as important is the development of youth
in the league as the youth are the future generation of the league. More importantly, the
league provides 20 teams that are incredibly competitive: a characteristic that makes
every soccer fan want to watch the highly rated Barclays Premier league(Nasila). Due to
it s exclusive criteria, the Barclay s Premier league is the best league in the world.
As a result of evenly distributing money among all twenty clubs, the Barclays Premier
league ensures success for its individual clubs. The English league has been the only
league that evenly distributes its earnings in television money to all of it s clubs since it
was first created in 1992(HubPages). The even distribution in the Barclays Premier
allows for all clubs to invest in better squads, which makes the league fairly
competitive(Nasila). Such fair system of distribution isn t the same for many of today s
best known leagues, as
27. Comparing Girl And The Birth-Mark
In Girl by Jamaica Kincaid and in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birth Mark , the two
shorts stories come out to have more similarities than it does with differences; in the
manner of theme, narrative point of view and the plot. In Girl , a mother who
simultaneously tells her daughter what she can do, what she cannot do and when she
can do it in order to be the perfect lady while growing up in the Antiguan society. In
The Birth Mark , the main character Aylmer tries to change the way his wife
Georgiana looks because of a flaw , a birthmark that is on her face in the shape of a
hand. Kincaid s and Hawthorne s short stories both share a resemblance in theme with
the contrast of gender and view, and plot; however, both of their short stories share a
divergence in the narrative point of view.
The two short stories share a similarity in theme in contrast of gender and how it is
viewed in each story. In Girl , the mom teaches her daughter the way a woman should be

28. Holocaust Theme Essay
Holocaust Theme Essay
The Holocaust was a colossal systematic extermination and murder of about 6 million
Jews in Eastern Europe under the criminal hands of Nazis and SS troops during World
War II. It started from 1933 and ended in 1945, when the war in Europe finally ended.
The whole genocide was organized methodically by the leader of Germany at the time,
Adolf Hitler. His command of the operation quickly sprung to action after procedures
took place. At first Jews were persecuted, stolen of their citizenship, then moved into
ghettos, and quickly into concentration camps. The evil plot developed and grew and
what started out as hatred turned into a scheme of mass murder. The resources that
portray the critical themes in the Holocaust ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Schindler s List the little girl in the red jacket who died during the Holocaust was a
great symbol for innocence lost. During the Holocaust, mercy wasn t granted to
children which broke the innocence in the extermination process since to the Nazis
they weren t useful to work. Another example is in the quote from Night , Infants were
tossed into the air and used as targets for the machine guns (6 Night). Unfortunately,
even babies weren t important and useful enough for Nazis and were, like many Jews in
the Holocaust, subjected to murder with no innocence in consideration. Additionally, a
critical example of the Nuremburg Trials is, Very frequently women would hide their
children under the clothes but of course when we found them we would send the
children in to be exterminated (291 Nuremberg). Again, the innocence lost in the
Holocaust doesn t pardon any prisoner, any child, any Jew. It was a hateful, wicked
strategy to destroy the Jewish race and even the innocence of people and children would
not stop Nazis plans of extermination in the Holocaust. In conclusion, my impression of
the Holocaust is outraged by the events that underwent during the Holocaust. Personally,
the part with the shooting of babies for target practice in Night makes me sick. It makes
me wonder how people can live with themselves after tricking themselves to believe
innocent Jews are the enemy when they ve done no crime to deserve a
29. Youth binge drinking
To what extent is youth violence, crimes and anti social behaviour linked to youths binge
drinking.
Binge drinking can be defined as an excessive consumption of alcohol within a short
period of time to get drunk. This essay will focus on how youth violence, crime and anti
social behaviour is linked to youths binge drinking. It is widely known that the youths in
United Kingdom start drinking at an early stage of their lives. Talbot and Crabbe (n.d.)
state that government statistics suggest that... the amount of alcohol consumed by
younger adolescents aged 11 13 continues to climb. Underage drinking is linked to binge
drinking as youths are not mature and responsible enough to think of the consequences.
BBC News (2003) mentioned that A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also known that regretful sexual activity is a leverage of youths heavy drinking. An
article by The Christian Institute (2011) expresses the concern of youths engaging in
alcohol fuelled sex. The article states that those binge drinking three or more times a
week were over five times more likely than non binge drinkers to have had sex they
regretted following alcohol . It was also suggested that it is time for ministers should have
a stricter attitude towards youths binge drinking. The article goes on to declare that the
government has failed to control the issue of youths misusing alcohol.
Having considered all of the points above, there are arguments about youth violence,
crime and anti social behaviour not relating to binge drinking. It is common for
youths to go through a rebellious phase. During the stage of rebellion, crimes will be
committed due to peer pressure or low family income. A report by Taylor (2003)
claims that street robberies were urged on by the fear of youths being left out and
bullied. This suggests that young people are very affected by how they are perceived in
the eyes of other individuals which instigate them to commit crime. A research by
Jacobson and Kirby (2012) mentions that lack of discipline was evidently the root to
youth crimes. The research also mentions that boredom as
30. The Pianist Research Paper
THE PIANIST The Pianist was released in December 2002 starring Adrien Brody and
directed by Roman Polanski. The movie was adapted from The Pianist: The
Extraordinary True Story Of One Man s Survival in Warsaw, an autobiography written
by WЕ‚adysЕ‚aw Szpilman. The purpose of the autobiography was to describe Szpilman
s experiences in Warsaw, Poland during the horrific events of the Holocaust. This film
received the Academy Award for best actor and best director.
The film begins with a German bombing during one of Szpilman s performances on a
radio station. Once he was home, he discovered that England and France had declared
war on Germany. This event however, did not keep the Germans from forcing the Jews
into ghettos where they were faced with extremely poor living conditions. The hatred
against the Jews caused Nazis to begin execute and send them to concentration camps.
Szpilman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is noted at the end of the movie where the ghettos in Warsaw were completely
destroyed due to the execution of the Jews. Discrimination was a major cultural
influence involving the war against the Jews. This shaped society in Warsaw, Poland as
the Jewish people were treated badly and even assassinated. The film showed the Jews
being thrown out of their homes and killed in the streets. The governments represented in
The Pianist were Fascism or absolute dictatorship. This is demonstrated as Germany s
Adolf Hitler held power over Poland after Warsaw surrendered from German bombing. In
the economy, Jewish people made a living by constructing buildings, becoming soldiers,
and preparing food for other Jews. The economic ideology was socialism, which means
that the community owns and regulates production and distribution. Social structures on
racism have impacted history by making discrimination laws so history, like the
execution of the Jews, won t repeat
31. The Effects Of Peer Pressure On Youth
Introduction
Motivation is the influence or force that causes someone to do something ( Merriam
Webster Dictionary n.d.). To determine why children lack motivation to complete classes,
the cause to their de motivation needs targeted. When children are motivated, they will
succeed with a sense of accomplishment. Encouragement is the key to motivation
(Nelsen, Lott par 2 2015). If a child is encouraged and praised for their achievement s,
they feel a sense of self worth, which develops a high self esteem. Individuals with a high
self esteem accomplish goals. Peer pressure has been identified as a big impact on
teenagers, and contrary to popular belief, Secure Teen (2013) has found that peer
pressure may encourage positive influences on our youth. To promote motivation and
a high self esteem students could participate in groups to thrive in the classroom.
These groups would be called N I A F (No one is a failure), not a typical study group or
therapy, a community of academic socializing to motivate students toward success.
Peers would encourage each other in N I A F, and work as teams to achieve. Teens need
to know their capabilities and weaknesses along with being praised for their proficiencies
to be motivated. Knowing your weaknesses is empowering and shows that you are
human (Scivicque 2011). The idea that students helping one another could ultimately be
the key to the underachiever or unmotivated is an
