Analysis Of A Poison Tree By Langston Hughes
The song Miss Missing You by Fall Out Boy states Sometimes before it gets better / The
darkness gets bigger/The person that you d take a bullet for is behind the trigger (16 18). These
three lines speak the message of, life is not easy, sometimes it gets difficult before it gets easier.
In the same fashion, the poems A Poison Tree by William Blake and Mother to Son by Langston
Hughes both have this same message that life is not easy and mistakes will be made, but do not
become bitter, instead, keep going forward, and things will get better.
Through A Poison Tree, William Blake shows that life is not easy and mistakes will be made, but if
people do not move on, things will not get better. In this particular poem, the author uses
personification to show their anger growing by giving it the characteristics of a plant. Blake uses
personification in phrases such as my wrath did grow. / And I watered it in fears and it grew
both day and night. / Till it bore an apple bright (4 5 and 9 10). This shows how this person
becomes angrier over time, fueling their feelings with fear and sadness. The poem ends with the
person using their anger to hurt someone else, only making things worse. This device expresses
the theme because the person in the poem did not do what they should have done. What they
should have done was let things get better on their own, instead they chose to let their feelings
take over. In turn, they became bitter and thirsty for revenge. Another device Blake uses is
imagery because it shows again how this person let their anger grow. Blake combines the use of
personification and imagery in stanza two by saying, And I watered it in fears, / Night morning
with my tears: / And I sunned it with smiles, / And with soft deceitful wiles (5 8). By using these
two literary devices, he creates an image of someone watering this plant with evil, while also
having a Grinch like smile on their face. One could even go more into detail and say that the
nutrients in the soil are the evil ideas that the plant thrives off of to grow. This shows that people
should not let their anger get the best of them, but instead should move on to better things.

As I was not born or raised in Australia, I had no idea about Indigenous Australian history before I
came across this unit. The only idea I had is that Indigenous Australians receive special treatment
such as more welfare and handouts from the government. Before I started this unit, I was expecting

does apply to go to Harvard is only to get back with her boyfriend which makes this less of an
honorable action. The movie plays light heartedly on the theme that blondes aren t taken seriously

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald tells the story of a world lost to superficiality and greed.
Falsehood and deception are the currency which fuels the characters in the novel. Dwelling in this
fallen world, Fitzgerald has placed a fallen god. Gatsby is bathed in descriptions that identify him
as the Son of God. Fitzgeraldmakes a conscious effort to clothe this character with imagery and
actions to make him the patron deity of this fallen world, but Gatsbyis too much enveloped by his

also create and share meaning. It is a means of connection between people or places. Without

communication is the use of speech either face to face or via the phone or any form of
communication where spoken words are being used to convey a message. Non verbal
communication is the process of conveying a message without the use of speech or sound. There
are nine features of non verbal communication, I will speak about three: eye contact, facial

Investigating the behavior of animals is essential to understanding the implications for why an
animal may do things the way they do. It helps shine some light on a subject that is not heavily
researched and give us a better understanding of the feeding behavior, reproductive patterns,
seasonal movement and communication between other animals. As boring or bland as animal
observation may be it gives us an increased outlook on the many reasons for an animal s demeanor.
I got the opportunity to observe and analyze White tailed Deer in their natural habitat and get a
better understanding for that of their various behaviors. White tails in general have interesting
behavioural characteristics that define them as a species and enable their survival in the wild.
Food is an essential part of the survival of a species from one generation to the next carrying over
good genes or genes of malnutrition, famine and death. Throughout this project, I was able to
observe some interesting feeding behavior carried out by that of White tailed Deer. For example,
after analyzing my observations, I came to the conclusion that White tails eat a variety of foods
from various fruits, grasses, twigs, sedges and aquatic plants. On August twenty third, day one of

According to Madison, a large republic is better suited to govern and preserve a country than a
small republic. A large republic has many advantages over a small republic, specifically the unifying
and centralized power that represents the people. However, the number of representatives must be
large enough to limit power but small enough to encourage communication. With too many
representatives, there would not be a close knit relationship that develops with small group and it
would be difficult to be heard. Also, the larger the republicis, the bigger the pool of representatives

Various poems project vividness by the specific descriptive words that are written by the poets.
These simple words not only create vivid scenes, but also have a lively breathe. From a bombing,
to a glimpse of faith, to a rather strange situation, the words written in these poems will make the
reader want to hold their breath. The mood in the poems Ballad of Birmingham, Since there s no
help, and When my love swears that she is made of truth robustly reveal author s purpose on the
topics of fear, hope, and contentment, which embody the three most essential emotions that
describe human nature.
In the Ballad of Birmingham, by Dudley Randall, the mood of fear is presented. From end to
finish, the sprinkle of intense expressive words strongly shape the mood in this poem, instilling
fear in not only the characters but the audience as well. The point where the poem peaks is when
the author creates a jarringly suspenseful moment when he states For when she heard the
explosion, Her eyes grew wet and wild. The heavy words presented such as explosion, wild, and
fire, show the level of fear the mother felt; almost breathtaking. Randall uses the dialogue between
the mother and daughter to deceive the audience by allowing them to believe that the child will be
going safely to church but then instantly deviates the situation into something horrid in a matter of
a few words. Deviating the mood enables Dudley Randall to depict how fear is an essential emotion.
The Ballad of Birmingham was written in response to a bombing that occurred in Birmingham,
Alabama on September 15th, 1963. The mood Dudley Randall creates in his poem adequately

In recent years, violence has affected society immensely; in the Las Vegas community specifically,

constitution, the second amendment states that citizens have a right to bear arms. One side
