The Physical Benefits Of Long Distance Running
There is a big topic in the sports and athletic world today surrounding the activity of long distance
running. This seems to be an activity that people either love or hate, and there never really is an in
between. Despite whether a person likes long distance running or not, the topic that this paper will be
focusing on is whether it is beneficial to one s health. After researching the effects that long distance
has, I have concluded that it is a beneficial method to achieve physical fitness and improve health.
Running has been shown to improve not only physical health, but also mental health, and though it is
beneficial, there is an incorrect way to run long distances and that is where much of the argument lies.
I will be explaining both the physical and mental advantages of long distance running as well as
explain where the potential injury lies in the activity. Overall, I will be proving that the activity of long
distance running is beneficial. The first part that I will be focusing on are the physical benefits of long
distance running. One of the main physical benefits, and probably the most popular reason for people
to run long distance, is the calorie burning. Running is an aerobic exercise that makes use of the
oxidative energy system our body has. This prolonged exercise forces the body to produce large
amounts of ATP to keep the body moving and it get this ATP from the stored fats in the body. When
the body makes this energy, it takes from the stared

Arrogance In China
The relationships between China and the West has been, throughout centuries, one of the most
fluctuating due to the arrogance found on both sides. Emperor Qianlong states his relationship with
Europe as one sided (Emperor Qianlong Mandate to King George III), based on how Qianlong boldly
says that the west needed China s products while china, itself, claimed that they already had
everything. This was to say if it did not benefit China in any way or form requests for further trade or
import/export was not instated or acted upon by the Emperor. Still, they did allow the trading of China
s manufactured goods, such as silk, tea, and porcelain, for silver (England and China: the Opium
Wars, 1839 60 June 2006) at the city of Macao and of Canton, ... Show more content on

Qianlong s bold way of assessing the western nation s culture and traditions, calling them barbaric
even, stems from his reaction, from his point of view, of how the West wanted to divide China up to
suit their own needs and wants. He especially resorts to sarcasm about how tiny England is (paragraph
5, pg.2) and plays to his own arrogance that Your England is not the only nation trading at Canton
(Emperor Qianlong Mandate to King George III, 2). Although this is true, due to trading with the
Dutch, Spanish, (etc.), yet he did not have to go as far as insulting how the lonely remoteness (Boston:
Houghton Mifflin 1913 (Letter dates 1793)) of England is and how they don t have the land mass and
remoteness of the Middle Kingdom. Then to add further insult Qianlong ordered the return of
Ambassador Macartney immediately and slightly threatened the British Empire (Emperor Qianlong
Mandate to King George III, 4 ) that if they did proceed to trade where they were not supposed to they
would be expelled quickly. Reading the article Qianlong is a very proud, fearless Emperor that had the
guts to say no to Britain, getting his point across to King George that China would not bow down to
them and give them everything they want, that China would not be assimilated into the Western
culture and be used for Europe s own ends, yet Qianlong put into a way which made the Crown
harden itself against China resulting in their deep animosity toward the Middle

in language development and language confusion. Studies revealed that the optimal age for dual
language development was before age five. Children were not delayed in phonetic contrasts

The results are consistent with the notion that both groups exhibit different development of brain
networks associated with the control of executive functions.
Dr. Tom Schweizer, a neuroscientist in St. Michael Hospital in Canada studied the effects of
bilingualism in patients with Alzheimer s disease. He chose a sample of patients with similar
background, education, and disease cognitive detriment. Half were monolingual and half were
bilingual. Using CT scans and cognitive evaluation he found that even though bilingual patients
showed twice as much atrophy, they performed as well in the cognitive test as their monolingual
counterparts with less atrophy. This may be explained by the fact that bilingual individuals have
developed enhanced neural networks or pathways, also called neural reserve, when switching from
one language to another or suppressing one language from another. Dr. Schweizer explains that though
bilingualism delays Alzheimer s progression for about five years it does not prevent it.
Alladi, et. Al. in 2013 in an effort to identify the association between bilingualism and age at onset of
dementia and its subtypes ran the largest study with case records of 648 patients with dementia (391 of
them bilingual) The age at onset of first symptoms was

Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austin Essay
In reference to the novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austin, Austin targets several themes in
correlation to the early 19th century in England. Austin s central theme however, is love and marriage.
Trough love and marriage Austin is able to criticize social class, wealth, gender inequality, and
prejudice. In such matter, Austin believes happiness cannot be obtained by arrangement, force, nor any
type of exterior influences. So in respect to love, which leads to marriage, Austen s thoughts of mutual
attraction are the most important thing of a marriage. One who betrays his or her heart will never own
true love. True love is much more cherishing than money and social position. This is what Austen puts
a great deal of emphasis on. Intertwining themes, Austen s perception of happiness is traced off gender
injustices women suffered in 19th century English society; Austen jabs at the English society and
norms of that time period, by exploiting a female character; Elizabeth Bennet. Regaining focus on
Austen s thought about happiness, with respect to marriage or love; the authors position on such topic
is amplified via the characters pairings and doublings and as they shift through the course of the novel.
As we analyze the main characters in the novel, both Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are the main
couplet in which experience significant development as the novel gallops along towards the ending.
Being the second oldest of the Bennet sisters, Elizabeth Bennet, is a

The Morality Of White Man s Burden
Just as the natives are overwhelmed by fear, the whites are also affected, but in a different manner than
the black natives. The white people fear that the Natives will take back their land and get rid of the
whites. The whites oppress the natives in order to curb that fear, controlling
Crawford 6 them and making them bend to their will. In South Africa, the imperial whites have taken
over everything in the country, in essence capturing the natives. The natives are suppressed with low
paying and hard jobs, little to no education, and essentially no social structure. Without this education,
the natives learn and obtain little to no skills. Without good paying jobs, they have no wealth or
prosperity. Arthur Jarvis says, It is not permissible to watch its destruction, and to replace it by
nothing, or by so little, that a whole people deteriorates, physically and morally (Paton 179). Jarvis is
saying that because there is no tribal integrity, the natives have little to no meaning, as the tribal
system is the only way of life they know. These things cause regression into chaos and dominance of
whites over them. All things are done because the whites are afraid of the potential power of the
colloquial mass of natives. In order to persuade themselves that white oppression is moral, white
people use the logic behind White Man s Burden. Arthur Jarvis explains this in his writings that whites
justify their motives because of philosophical or religious ideals. Jarvis

Dicore Case Study
1. External Analysis
In order to understand the environment of the mining industry and evaluate Dicore s competitors and
customers, this chapter will adopt some tools, such as PESTEL and Porter s five forces, to analyze the
external environment of Dicore International.
2.1. PESTEL Analysis
The PESTEL framework is often used to analyze the broad macro environment of an organization
(Johnson et al, 2014). Thus, it is used in this chapter to identify how the trend of drilling industry can
be affected by the political, economical, social, technological, ecological and legal factors.
2.2.1. Political Factors
There were two bans on offshore drilling raised during 1980s in the United States, in response to the
damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, drilling sites are always located in inaccessible areas that cannot provide a comfortable
working condition. Therefore, it could contribute to a lower level of operational productivity.
2.2.4. Technological Factors
The overall mining industry profits declining in 2013 came along with the declining of investment,
which may lead to a lack of funds in research and development in the mining industry, and slow down
the innovation process of drilling equipment to achieve faster and more accurate drilling. Besides,
better equipment can also address the issue raised by the bonus pay which often results in damaging
equipment or mineral.
2.2.5. Ecological Factors
The environmental regulations could impose the operating expenses of drilling, particularly in the
southwestern region. To be more specific, the drilling company has to take full responsibility to
reverse any damage that it may cause to the environment.
2.2.6. Legal Factors
More than one licence is required for a company to offer a full range of drilling services in
southwestern region. This may be a slow and complex process and may influence the company s
performance to some extent. Yet it is still much more stable than the rest of the factors that might
change the macro environment.
2.2. Porter s Five Forces Analysis
The Five Forces Framework will be adopted in this chapter to identify the attractiveness of the drilling

Gregory And Aquinas Humility
During the middle ages, early A.D. 590 Rome, undergone a substantial amount of struggle. According
to Shelley (2008) as a result of many wars, floods, and the spread of the plague leading to large
quantity of death, Rome became a wasteland; those who were left alive were distraught and confused
(163). It was the Christian faith that restored hope and brought about new order called Europe, and
The church took the lead in rule by law, the pursuit of knowledge, and the expressions of culture
(p.162). It became known as the era of Christendom, as the church united its forces with the empire
and popes ruled. As time passed, however, people began to see popes as corrupted by their authority

Jesus Christ. In his book, the Book of Pastoral Rule, Gregory discusses the importance of humility,
and states the following, No one presumes to teach an art till he has first, with intent meditation, learn
it (Gregory the Great, n.d. p. 573). Therefore, exclaiming that the nature of humility is an essence of
pastoral care, highest post of humility, therefore, no one should take on such role without proper
preparation and attainment of such quality (p. 587). It is evident in the following statement, For one
can by no means learn humility in a high place who has not ceased to be proud while occupying a low
one: one knows not how to fly from praise when it abounds, who has learnt to pant for it when it was
wanting: one can by no means overcome avarice, when advanced to the sustentation of many, who his
own means could not suffice for himself alone (p.

Compare And Contrast Modernist And Post-Modernism In...
Modernist and Post modernist in Development Modernism is closely associated with the setting in of
modern civilization compared to postmodernism. It is modernism that lay the foundation for
postmodernism (Muller 312). After the World War II, the human race achieved what is referred to as
postmodernism. The two concepts may appear antagonistic in nature, but a closer look at each reveals
how well each complements the other. Art and literature are among the numerous human aspects that
have been influenced in diverse ways by the concepts of modernism and post modernism. In this
paper, the significance of developmental studies in elaborating the two concepts as the poles of
negotiation rather than competing concepts shall be highlighted more so from Miller s school of
thought.
Modernist concept in enhancing sustained engagement
In this case, we realize that modernism always tends to exclude the order and the rationality mainly in
politics that come with the movements. It is geared as two poles of negotiation majorly in the context
of agreement in that it is geared and motivated towards various masses and people. Schneider
stipulates this when he comes out vividly in comparison of his art to that of the ancient time by saying
that his work was fine simply because his portrayals were eye appealing and they ... Show more

Computer Graphics
Computer graphics are graphics created using computers and, more generally, the representation and
manipulation of image data by a computer. The development of computer graphics has made
computers easier to interact with, and better for understanding and interpreting many types of data.
Developments in computer graphics have had a profound impact on many types of media and have
revolutionized animation, movies and the video game industry.
Overview
The term computer graphics has been used in a broad sense to describe almost everything on
computers that is not text or sound . Typically, the term computer graphics refers to several different

Another example is that Sutherland s software modeled objects not just a picture of objects. In other
words, with a model of a car, one could change the size of the tires without affecting the rest of the
car. It could stretch the body of the car without deforming the tires.
These early computer graphics were vector graphics, composed of thin lines whereas modern day
graphics are Raster based using pixels.
Further 1960s developments
Also in 1961 another student at MIT, Steve Russell, created the first video game, Spacewar. Written
for the DEC PDP 1, Spacewar was an instant success and copies started flowing to other PDP 1
owners and eventually even DEC got a copy. The engineers at DEC used it as a diagnostic program on
every new PDP 1 before shipping it. The sales force picked up on this quickly enough and when
installing new units, would run the world s first video game for their new customers.
E. E. Zajac, a scientist at Bell Telephone Laboratory (BTL), created a film called Simulation of a two
giro gravity attitude control system in 1963.[5] In this computer generated film, Zajac showed how the
attitude of a satellite could be altered as it orbits the Earth. He created the animation on an IBM 7090
mainframe computer. Also at BTL, Ken Knowlton, Frank Sindon and Michael Noll started working in
the computer graphics field. Sindon created a film called Force, Mass and Motion illustrating Newton

Airport Privatization 2
Airport Privatization:
Introduction:
Airport plays a key role of air transport; it has a big impact on development of economics in a country.
Freight passengers and cargo to any part of the world and it allows aircraft to land and take off. An
airport has to have a proper infrastructure, which consists of runaways, taxiways, apron, terminal for
arrival and departure of passengers, terminal for freight and ground interchange. It should have a wide
range of facilities; lounge for passengers, shops and a food court. For safety and security it has to have
an air traffic control to monitor all the incoming and outgoing flights to take off and land, security

In United states, commercial airports have traditionally been independent of the national control,
operated locally by local or regional authorities and highly influenced by private interests, specifically
the airlines (with enough power to decide major facets of airport management and development).
While the other degree of participation of private interests in airports differs broadly among states and
cities, major U.S. commercial airports are operated through partnerships between the government,
local interests and private firms.
The Australian airport privatization began in 1994 when the Australian government announced the
decision to sell 22 airports that were owned and operated by the Federal Airports Corporation (FAC).
Under a long term leases, airlines are responsible extends to providing and maintaining terminal
infrastructures, with the airport operator only the land for the domestic terminals that are under lease.
In other Asian countries, many major airports are expected to be privatized in the near future,
including Tokyo, Hongkong, and several airports in India. The ongoing structural reform in airport
sector has provided an opportunity for these airports seek funding from capital markets as well as
strategic investors.
Types of Privatization:

A Brief Note On Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch And Othmar...
Throughout the course of history there have been many advances in the world of infrastructure, mostly
occurring in the 1800 s and the 1900 s. Infrastructure is defined as the basic physical and
organizational structure needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, or the services and
facilities necessary for an economy to function. This definition shows how important infrastructure is
to people s lives today. It affects how people live, travel, and communicate with one another. Three
men who made huge contributions in the world of infrastructure were Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch
and Othmar Hermann Ammann. All three of these men were involved in designing numerous
landmarks, highways, bridges, tunnels, and other forms of infrastructure that today we take for
granted. Although all of these men were involved in infrastructure in the New York metropolitan area,
their contributions, personalities, and the public s opinion of them were all different. Robert Moses
was born in New Haven Connecticut. He is considered the master builder of New York City, Long
Island, Rockland county, and Westchester county of the mid 1900 s. After graduating from Yale and
earning a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia, Robert Moses became attracted to New York City
reform politics. Moses caught the notice of Belle Moskowitz, an advisor to Al Smith. Moses rose to
power with Al Smith, who became governor of New York in 1922. Robert Moses was in charge in the

Scrubs In My Old Lady
The early 2000s was a prime time for hospital centered television shows were aired. House and Grey s
Anatomy were among the most popular, but Scrubs stood among the best of the genre. While the other
shows were drama focused, Scrubs took a more lighthearted approach to working at a hospital, though
the show often takes on dark thematics from time to time. Scrubs is the best hospital television show
to have been aired because of the scenes that reflected the reality of hospitals, the soundtrack, and the
genius improve the cast used to liven up scenes. In the fourth episode of the series, My Old Lady , the
main character, JD, is told by his patient who is an old woman, that she is ready to die. In that
moment, it shook me that while it is a doctor s duty to save a patient, the patient wants to be let go
sometimes. JD spends the rest of the episode working off the clock to change her mind, but she she
doesn t change her mind. Knowing that doctors really care about their patients really assures the
viewers that they are in good hand when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The motions and emotions of the cast feel more realistic due to the fact that there are no pauses for
imaginary laughter and allows music to have more emphasis on the tone of the current scene. When
the old woman died, a cover of Hallelujah started to play, which is already a somber song about love.
This show also introduced viewers to new artists. A band that makes a recurring appearance is, The
Blanks. This band does acapella, acoustic, or unplugged covers of songs that I like, most noteworthy
was and acoustic cover of, Hey Ya, by Outkast, along with original content. A creative way for the
incorporation of this band was that they made cameos as a group of hospital staff that have an acapella
band doing covers of slogans or cartoon theme songs. It is charming whenever they appear, showing
off their talents in ways a viewer would not

The book shows how many adopted children feels when they are grown up in different culture with
different race. Many children are adopted, but some of them are glad to be adopted while others do
not. Like Marcus, many adopted children go back to their country to find their biological parents
while some do not even want to know about their origin. The book also express the pain of black
people in the white community. Many people have faced several challenges because of their skin color
some even bullied like Marcus, and he mentioned the challenges he faced because of his skin color.
Moreover there are also some important lessons to become a successful person. Marcus scarified a lot
of things to become a famous chef. For example, he did not visit his daughter and his ex girlfriend
because he wanted to focus on his career and he was committed. The book also shows people should
learn from their failures, and the author wrote about his failures; however he never gave up for
challenges. On the other hand, the memoir also has some drawbacks. It seems boring for readers
because the author mainly talks about food. However, I recommend the book for many people because

Character Analysis Of The Film Big Hero 6
The film Big Hero 6, is about Hiro, a 14 year old boy who creates an incredible invention called
microbots to achieve his dream of enrolling into the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. The
microbots are tiny robots that are linked together through any way, shape, or form, through a
neurotransmitter. However, trouble strikes as someone steals them, but Hiro and Tadashi, his deceased
brother s medical assistant robot Baymax save the day along with the other multiracial four heroes
who were his Tadashi s friends at the institute as they capture the villain. Big Hero 6, in particular,
made me witness how Disney had began to endeavored taking a technological path, opposed to other
films intended for children. I believe that Big Hero 6 stands out from all the other movies intended for
kids, as from my analysis the movie made me see that it s characters were mostly all centered around
intellectual human beings. But Disney still used a well known cliche as they still put at least one
unintelligent character in the movie, mostly due to comedic purposes. However, in Big Hero 6, there
were some weaknesses that could ve made this movie even better. The first weakness, was that the
directors could ve added more insight/backstory on how the Hamada household came to be. I felt like
starting off with that to go along with the bot fighting scene would connect must smoother to the
movie. Giving the audience some insight/backstory to Big Hero 6, might specify maybe how their

Lower-Class Myth Summary
Cedric Johnson examines and rejects the concept of extraordinary, myth under the class that was

Although business markets and consumer markets share common values and theories, they differ in

In consumer markets the customer is influenced emotionally when making a purchase decision hence
why a business must ensure its product or service has superior benefits to its competitors (Anderson et

Consumer marketing is product driven; a need to maximize the value of the transaction; serves a large
target market; single step buying process, shorter sales cycle; brand identity created through repetition
and imagery; and emotions affect the buying decision based on status, desire, or price. Whereas,
Business marketing is relationship driven; its aim is to maximize the value of the relationship;

My Experience On A Boat Ride To Catalina Island
One of my greatest field trips ever was on a boat ride to Catalina Island. It consisted of a three day
overnight trip to the beautiful Island. My Dad and I woke up at 4:35 in the morning just to get to
school on time to load up the bus. On the way to school, my dad and I stopped at three different stores
to make sure we had enough food, and supplies for the boat ride. I was tired, but super excited! Once
we arrived at school, we immediately started packing up the bus. Everyone looked like they just got
drug out of the bed by their parents, just to come to another regular, boring day of school. I think I was
the only one who was really excited; except for my Dad of course. Once the bus was completely
packed with all our supplies, we all used the restroom, then hopped on the bus. As we drove down the
freeway, my classmates and I played fun games like: I Spy and truth or dare. When we arrived in Long
Beach, my friends and I decided to skip rocks by throwing the rocks into the water. Unfortunately, we
got reprimanded by the person who worked there. That embarrassment did not last long because of the
exciting adventure ahead. I was surprised to see how wrong I was about the type of boat that we
would be taking. All along, I thought we were going to be taking an old wooden boat like those in the
old movies. Thankfully, I became pleasantly surprised when I saw a modern motor boat. Suddenly, the
engine turned on, and I was afraid for our lives. The woman driving sped the whole way there. It was
a long and bumpy ride. After safely making it to Catalina Island, I wanted to hurry and throw on my
swim trunks so that I could jump in the clear beautiful water. The water was so clear, that I could see
fish brushing against my legs. As we stepped off of the boat and followed our camp leader, we sat
Matthew Milton Milton 1 Mrs. Spinelli English7 10/5 /17 down in a huge circle, and introduced
ourselves to one another. There was one other school there aside from us, so this was very beneficial.
After introducing ourselves, we grabbed our things and went to our cabins. I accidentally took another
campers bag by mistake as we headed towards our cabin, but that problem was quickly resolved.
Lunch was served shortly after we became

Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would...
Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would function as the binding force holding the
growing polypeptide chain of the amino acid to the peptidyl site. This is in correlation to the process
of translation, in which the RNA is translated into a polypeptide chain with the aid of Ribosomal RNA
and transfer RNA. To begin the process prior to treatment, first the initiation process starts through
tRNA and methionine serving as catalyst to form a complete ribosome in an empty A site. The RNA s
from the A site are linked to the P site which allows the appropriate amino acids to connect with RNA
using the A site as an amino acid storage for the polypeptide chain. Without the P site, or the blockage

De Methylation is the removal of methyl groups from DNA all together, which would lead to active
corresponding cancer genes thus enhancing the threat. So far it is clear to scientists that Methylation of
DNA directly influences gene expression, cancer being abnormal in expression patterns. In repressing
or stimulating methylation in the cell, research indicates that transcription of cancer cells can be
repressed which could lead to cancer gene arrest. This drug would be a good candidate for an anti
cancer drug because if we re able to correct the DNA methylation in cancer cells, they would be able
to behave normally. Methylation inhibitors could assist in reactivating epigenetically silenced genes in
cancer and reverse aberrant DNA methylation restoring regular gene functions and tumor cell growth
arrest.
The group of genes that would cause the most problems for an organism if mutated would be the
Homeobox Genes. The Homeobox Genes are a class of regulatory genes that are used to help regulate
the gene expression, and assist with body structure formation during early embryonic development.
Pertaining to Transcription, there are a couple factors typically encoded by the proteins in the
Homeobox gene, within the gene, that bind to and control activities of other genes in the Homeobox
Gene family (http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/geneFamily/homeobox). The formation of limbs, organs and
physiological positioning are influenced by this embryological gene. The HOX gene

Comparing Adam And Eve In Islam And Christianity
Adam and Eve in Islam and Christianity The Bible and the Quran tell the story of the creation of the
first man, Adam and first women Eve or in Arabic Hawa. The background behind Adam And Eve are
similar but different in Islam and Christianity. It begins by telling the people how the world started and
how we as humans were created. Christians believe that Adam was made from dust, Muslims believe
that Adam was made from Soil. In the Bible, the creation of Eve says she was the only woman created
from a man. The Qur an does not say that Eve was created from Adam s rib, but says that she was
created from of like nature. The creation of Eve is not described in the Quran. The Quran says that
Eve was created for Adam to have a mate and that she was also made from the same nature and soul.
Direct quote from the Quran about woman Treat women kindly. Woman has been created from a rib
and the most curved part of the rib is the uppermost. If you try to straighten it, you will break it and if
you leave it alone, it will remain curved. So, treat women kindly (Al Bukhari and Muslim). The rib
reflects that all women differed from Adam and was unique. The bible describes Eve made from
Adams rib to be Adams companion. Directly quoted from the bible And the rib that the Lord God had
taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man (Genesis 2:22). They were both
made to fulfill each other and to not be alone on earth. The similarity of the two religions is that they

Understanding Cashflow Essay
Understanding Cashflow
Within an organisation, money comes in and flows out. This is called the organisation s cashflow.
From time to time, business managers may pose questions such as:
* Can we afford to buy x?
* Are we going to be able to pay that bill?
* Wouldn t it be nice if we could develop y?
To answer such questions, they will often have to carry out some form of financial planning, and often
to seek additional finance from outside the company. The key issues are:
* What is the finance for?
* How long will it be needed?
* Is it affordable, i.e. can the firm keep up with the repayments?
Common methods of finance

Businesses often depend on customers paying bills promptly. Given that customers like Ron Rust may
delay payment as long as possible, an overdraft can be a useful form of short term business finance.
Factoring
Trade debts mean that money can often be tied up for as much as sic months. For a business requiring
cash quickly this can be a real problem. A factoring company may offer immediate payment of part of
the amount owed to a business normally around 80% with the balance being paid when the debt is
settled. This provided an immediate way for a business to improve its cashflow. In return, the
factoring company will charge a fee which includes interest and administration charges.
Leasing and hire purchase
There are many different ways for customers to receive goods and make payments over time.
Goods on hire purchase remain the property of the finance company until the customer has made all
the payments. Other credit purchasing schemes enable the goods to belong to the customer from the
first payment. With leasing, the lessee uses the asset while making regular payments to the lessee, who
owns it. An operating lease is for a small amount, and a capital or finance lease is for a large item over
an extended period.
Loans
Most businesses need to borrow in order to trade successfully. The charge for

Dna Testing And The Criminal Justice
Before any release, there must be proper evidence showing that the accused had nothing to do with the
crime. The introduction of the first person using DNA to prove his innocent was David Vasquez. In
1985, he was convicted, later in 1990; he was released due to DNA evidence (O Leary, 2012). Since
the Vasquez case, DNA testing has been a very powerful technique to use to prove a person s
innocence. A great reason for this is because victims are capable of lying and misidentifying. In
addition, the government, police, etc, may be corrupted and the criminal justice may just all turn out to
be fraud and no way to gain freedom back. There has been DNA exoneration nationwide. According to
the Innocence Project, there have been 317 post conviction DNA exonerations in United States
history. These stories are becoming more familiar as more innocent people gain their freedom through
post conviction testing. They are not proof; however, that our system is righting itself. The first DNA
exoneration took place in 1989. Exonerations have been won in 38 states; since 2000, there have been
250 exonerations.18 of the 317 people exonerated through DNA served time on death row. Another 16
were charged with capital crimes but not sentenced to death. The average length of time served by
exonerees is 13.5 years. The total number of years served is approximately 4,249.The average age of
exonerees at the time of their wrongful convictions was 27. Of the 317 exonerees, there were 199

Understanding The Birth Of The Renaissance
Understanding the birth of The Renaissance is as simple as understanding that the quality of a straight
razor shave is superior to that of a commercially stamped multi bladed razor. Looking retroactively at
the years leading up to this rebirth one can note the beginning of reflection the Ancient World and the
ins and outs of Roman culture. Influencing architecture, art, and social construction, a desire for the
classics pulled Europe from the slumping years of the fading High Middle Ages.
Actively bringing back Roman and Gothic elements of architecture including: Domes, support
methods, and construction techniques were all features included in Renaissance architecture, however
the learning and understanding of these classical techniques allowed the Renaissance man to further
innovate. Master Goldsmith, Filippo Brunelleschi, was one of the key overseers of the crown jewel of
these new innovations, a reimagined dome. Inspired by Gothic Architecture, Brunelleschi set out to
remove the flying buttress that would normally support the dome externally. Removing these pivotal
means of support required that new forms of support be found and implemented. Using the herring
bone design often found ornamentally in Rome, weight could now be pushed down and outward
effectively allocating pressure. Also borrowed from Gothic architecture was the use of chained
support. Like the Amiens Cathedral multiple linked chains were used to act as a binding tool for
increased stability. Additionally

Joy Morton Salt Transportation Essay
Transportation is one of the most important necessities for humans. Without it, traveling, economic

something from one place to another. We need transportation because of all life s necessities and
pleasures. The key to the salt business was transportation and luckily for Joy Morton, his company

began working for a small company in Chicago called E.I. Wheeler and Company in 1880. At such a

The first several chapters in the first section of the book dealing with the procurement and use of salt
in the ancient world. The Chinese and the Egyptians were the first to use salt on a large scale. The
Egyptians collected evaporated salt from the sea and the Nile and they used the salt in their food as
well as an essential ingredient in preserving the body during mummification. The Chinese used
evaporated salt to salt fish and to create a condiment that we still use, soy sauce. It was the Romans,
though, with their fish based diet that really used salt extensively in their cuisine. The next several
chapters deal with the importance of salt in Christian Europe during the middle Ages and into the
Early Modern period. In Catholic Europe, the church had placed certain dietary restriction forbidding
meat on Fridays and church holidays. This created an enormous market for fish. Now, having read this
last chapter of Salt, I am very aware of how extensive the history of this commodity is. One of the
great underlying themes of Salt is the idea of how one little thing can make many different big things.
In fact, Salt can read as one long tale of unintended consequences. Throughout history different
people, rulers, inventors, ext. have tried to do one thing that lead to many different

For many years, women have been determined to gain equality and be seen and treated equally as men
are. They have had many opportunities that were taken away from them because of the simple fact that

noticing this problem, people have been standing up for what people knew what was right. It s a basic
human right to be equal to other people without hesitation. With artists around, do people think

her bar code labels. The Zebra thermal Barcode Printer is a basic bar code printer which would be
perfect for my sister s budget it allows my sister to print off bar code and also the price right next to it
and the bar code printer only costs $200.
The ongoing maintenance that will be required for this process is that for every item my sister owns
she will need to keep track on which code belongs to which item by typing the description into the
system. By her doing so it is letting the system know which code it belongs to what and she wouldn t
have any confusion on how many of that item she has left. That way whenever she scans an item out
of her inventory she will know exactly how many of that item she has left in her inventory. My sister
will also need to stock up on bar code labels for her bar code printer. She would need to check her
inventory every month now since it is an automated method instead of a manual method which she
would have to check up on inventory every week.

  • 2. The Physical Benefits Of Long Distance Running There is a big topic in the sports and athletic world today surrounding the activity of long distance running. This seems to be an activity that people either love or hate, and there never really is an in between. Despite whether a person likes long distance running or not, the topic that this paper will be focusing on is whether it is beneficial to one s health. After researching the effects that long distance has, I have concluded that it is a beneficial method to achieve physical fitness and improve health. Running has been shown to improve not only physical health, but also mental health, and though it is beneficial, there is an incorrect way to run long distances and that is where much of the argument lies. I will be explaining both the physical and mental advantages of long distance running as well as explain where the potential injury lies in the activity. Overall, I will be proving that the activity of long distance running is beneficial. The first part that I will be focusing on are the physical benefits of long distance running. One of the main physical benefits, and probably the most popular reason for people to run long distance, is the calorie burning. Running is an aerobic exercise that makes use of the oxidative energy system our body has. This prolonged exercise forces the body to produce large amounts of ATP to keep the body moving and it get this ATP from the stored fats in the body. When the body makes this energy, it takes from the stared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Arrogance In China The relationships between China and the West has been, throughout centuries, one of the most fluctuating due to the arrogance found on both sides. Emperor Qianlong states his relationship with Europe as one sided (Emperor Qianlong Mandate to King George III), based on how Qianlong boldly says that the west needed China s products while china, itself, claimed that they already had everything. This was to say if it did not benefit China in any way or form requests for further trade or import/export was not instated or acted upon by the Emperor. Still, they did allow the trading of China s manufactured goods, such as silk, tea, and porcelain, for silver (England and China: the Opium Wars, 1839 60 June 2006) at the city of Macao and of Canton, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Qianlong s bold way of assessing the western nation s culture and traditions, calling them barbaric even, stems from his reaction, from his point of view, of how the West wanted to divide China up to suit their own needs and wants. He especially resorts to sarcasm about how tiny England is (paragraph 5, pg.2) and plays to his own arrogance that Your England is not the only nation trading at Canton (Emperor Qianlong Mandate to King George III, 2). Although this is true, due to trading with the Dutch, Spanish, (etc.), yet he did not have to go as far as insulting how the lonely remoteness (Boston: Houghton Mifflin 1913 (Letter dates 1793)) of England is and how they don t have the land mass and remoteness of the Middle Kingdom. Then to add further insult Qianlong ordered the return of Ambassador Macartney immediately and slightly threatened the British Empire (Emperor Qianlong Mandate to King George III, 4 ) that if they did proceed to trade where they were not supposed to they would be expelled quickly. Reading the article Qianlong is a very proud, fearless Emperor that had the guts to say no to Britain, getting his point across to King George that China would not bow down to them and give them everything they want, that China would not be assimilated into the Western culture and be used for Europe s own ends, yet Qianlong put into a way which made the Crown harden itself against China resulting in their deep animosity toward the Middle ... One approach was to study whether exposing a young child to two languages caused delay in language development and language confusion. Studies revealed that the optimal age for dual language development was before age five. Children were not delayed in phonetic contrasts acquisition. Imaging brains of monolingual and bilingual infants revealed that both groups presented similar neural activation. The results are consistent with the notion that both groups exhibit different development of brain networks associated with the control of executive functions. Dr. Tom Schweizer, a neuroscientist in St. Michael Hospital in Canada studied the effects of bilingualism in patients with Alzheimer s disease. He chose a sample of patients with similar background, education, and disease cognitive detriment. Half were monolingual and half were bilingual. Using CT scans and cognitive evaluation he found that even though bilingual patients showed twice as much atrophy, they performed as well in the cognitive test as their monolingual counterparts with less atrophy. This may be explained by the fact that bilingual individuals have developed enhanced neural networks or pathways, also called neural reserve, when switching from one language to another or suppressing one language from another. Dr. Schweizer explains that though bilingualism delays Alzheimer s progression for about five years it does not prevent it. Alladi, et. Al. in 2013 in an effort to identify the association between bilingualism and age at onset of dementia and its subtypes ran the largest study with case records of 648 patients with dementia (391 of them bilingual) The age at onset of first symptoms was ... • 5. Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austin Essay In reference to the novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austin, Austin targets several themes in correlation to the early 19th century in England. Austin s central theme however, is love and marriage. Trough love and marriage Austin is able to criticize social class, wealth, gender inequality, and prejudice. In such matter, Austin believes happiness cannot be obtained by arrangement, force, nor any type of exterior influences. So in respect to love, which leads to marriage, Austen s thoughts of mutual attraction are the most important thing of a marriage. One who betrays his or her heart will never own true love. True love is much more cherishing than money and social position. This is what Austen puts a great deal of emphasis on. Intertwining themes, Austen s perception of happiness is traced off gender injustices women suffered in 19th century English society; Austen jabs at the English society and norms of that time period, by exploiting a female character; Elizabeth Bennet. Regaining focus on Austen s thought about happiness, with respect to marriage or love; the authors position on such topic is amplified via the characters pairings and doublings and as they shift through the course of the novel. As we analyze the main characters in the novel, both Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are the main couplet in which experience significant development as the novel gallops along towards the ending. Being the second oldest of the Bennet sisters, Elizabeth Bennet, is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Morality Of White Man s Burden Just as the natives are overwhelmed by fear, the whites are also affected, but in a different manner than the black natives. The white people fear that the Natives will take back their land and get rid of the whites. The whites oppress the natives in order to curb that fear, controlling Crawford 6 them and making them bend to their will. In South Africa, the imperial whites have taken over everything in the country, in essence capturing the natives. The natives are suppressed with low paying and hard jobs, little to no education, and essentially no social structure. Without this education, the natives learn and obtain little to no skills. Without good paying jobs, they have no wealth or prosperity. Arthur Jarvis says, It is not permissible to watch its destruction, and to replace it by nothing, or by so little, that a whole people deteriorates, physically and morally (Paton 179). Jarvis is saying that because there is no tribal integrity, the natives have little to no meaning, as the tribal system is the only way of life they know. These things cause regression into chaos and dominance of whites over them. All things are done because the whites are afraid of the potential power of the colloquial mass of natives. In order to persuade themselves that white oppression is moral, white people use the logic behind White Man s Burden. Arthur Jarvis explains this in his writings that whites justify their motives because of philosophical or religious ideals. Jarvis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Dicore Case Study 1. External Analysis In order to understand the environment of the mining industry and evaluate Dicore s competitors and customers, this chapter will adopt some tools, such as PESTEL and Porter s five forces, to analyze the external environment of Dicore International. 2.1. PESTEL Analysis The PESTEL framework is often used to analyze the broad macro environment of an organization (Johnson et al, 2014). Thus, it is used in this chapter to identify how the trend of drilling industry can be affected by the political, economical, social, technological, ecological and legal factors. 2.2.1. Political Factors There were two bans on offshore drilling raised during 1980s in the United States, in response to the damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, drilling sites are always located in inaccessible areas that cannot provide a comfortable working condition. Therefore, it could contribute to a lower level of operational productivity. 2.2.4. Technological Factors The overall mining industry profits declining in 2013 came along with the declining of investment, which may lead to a lack of funds in research and development in the mining industry, and slow down the innovation process of drilling equipment to achieve faster and more accurate drilling. Besides, better equipment can also address the issue raised by the bonus pay which often results in damaging equipment or mineral. 2.2.5. Ecological Factors The environmental regulations could impose the operating expenses of drilling, particularly in the southwestern region. To be more specific, the drilling company has to take full responsibility to reverse any damage that it may cause to the environment. 2.2.6. Legal Factors More than one licence is required for a company to offer a full range of drilling services in southwestern region. This may be a slow and complex process and may influence the company s performance to some extent. Yet it is still much more stable than the rest of the factors that might change the macro environment.

According to Shelley (2008) as a result of many wars, floods, and the spread of the plague leading to large quantity of death, Rome became a wasteland; those who were left alive were distraught and confused (163). It was the Christian faith that restored hope and brought about new order called Europe, and The church took the lead in rule by law, the pursuit of knowledge, and the expressions of culture (p.162). Gregory was a true believer of humility as discussed in the Bible and through the teachings of Jesus Christ. In his book, the Book of Pastoral Rule, Gregory discusses the importance of humility, and states the following, No one presumes to teach an art till he has first, with intent meditation, learn it (Gregory the Great, n.d. p. 573). Therefore, exclaiming that the nature of humility is an essence of pastoral care, highest post of humility, therefore, no one should take on such role without proper preparation and attainment of such quality (p. 587). It is evident in the following statement, For one can by no means learn humility in a high place who has not ceased to be proud while occupying a low one: one knows not how to fly from praise when it abounds, who has learnt to pant for it when it was wanting: one can by no means overcome avarice, when advanced to the sustentation of many, who his own means could not suffice for himself alone (p. ... • 10. Compare And Contrast Modernist And Post-Modernism In... Modernist and Post modernist in Development Modernism is closely associated with the setting in of modern civilization compared to postmodernism. It is modernism that lay the foundation for postmodernism (Muller 312). After the World War II, the human race achieved what is referred to as postmodernism. The two concepts may appear antagonistic in nature, but a closer look at each reveals how well each complements the other. Art and literature are among the numerous human aspects that have been influenced in diverse ways by the concepts of modernism and post modernism. In this paper, the significance of developmental studies in elaborating the two concepts as the poles of negotiation rather than competing concepts shall be highlighted more so from Miller s school of thought. Modernist concept in enhancing sustained engagement In this case, we realize that modernism always tends to exclude the order and the rationality mainly in politics that come with the movements. It is geared as two poles of negotiation majorly in the context of agreement in that it is geared and motivated towards various masses and people. The development of computer graphics has made computers easier to interact with, and better for understanding and interpreting many types of data. Developments in computer graphics have had a profound impact on many types of media and have revolutionized animation, movies and the video game industry. Another example is that Sutherland s software modeled objects not just a picture of objects. In other words, with a model of a car, one could change the size of the tires without affecting the rest of the car. It could stretch the body of the car without deforming the tires. These early computer graphics were vector graphics, composed of thin lines whereas modern day graphics are Raster based using pixels. Further 1960s developments Also in 1961 another student at MIT, Steve Russell, created the first video game, Spacewar. Written for the DEC PDP 1, Spacewar was an instant success and copies started flowing to other PDP 1 owners and eventually even DEC got a copy. The engineers at DEC used it as a diagnostic program on every new PDP 1 before shipping it. • 15. A Brief Note On Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch And Othmar... Throughout the course of history there have been many advances in the world of infrastructure, mostly occurring in the 1800 s and the 1900 s. Infrastructure is defined as the basic physical and organizational structure needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, or the services and facilities necessary for an economy to function. This definition shows how important infrastructure is to people s lives today. It affects how people live, travel, and communicate with one another. Three men who made huge contributions in the world of infrastructure were Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch and Othmar Hermann Ammann. All three of these men were involved in designing numerous landmarks, highways, bridges, tunnels, and other forms of infrastructure that today we take for granted. Although all of these men were involved in infrastructure in the New York metropolitan area, their contributions, personalities, and the public s opinion of them were all different. Robert Moses was born in New Haven Connecticut. He is considered the master builder of New York City, Long Island, Rockland county, and Westchester county of the mid 1900 s. After graduating from Yale and earning a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia, Robert Moses became attracted to New York City reform politics. Moses caught the notice of Belle Moskowitz, an advisor to Al Smith. Moses rose to power with Al Smith, who became governor of New York in 1922. While the other shows were drama focused, Scrubs took a more lighthearted approach to working at a hospital, though the show often takes on dark thematics from time to time. Scrubs is the best hospital television show to have been aired because of the scenes that reflected the reality of hospitals, the soundtrack, and the genius improve the cast used to liven up scenes. In the fourth episode of the series, My Old Lady , the main character, JD, is told by his patient who is an old woman, that she is ready to die. I believe that Big Hero 6 stands out from all the other movies intended for kids, as from my analysis the movie made me see that it s characters were mostly all centered around intellectual human beings. But Disney still used a well known cliche as they still put at least one unintelligent character in the movie, mostly due to comedic purposes. However, in Big Hero 6, there were some weaknesses that could ve made this movie even better. On the way to school, my dad and I stopped at three different stores to make sure we had enough food, and supplies for the boat ride. I was tired, but super excited! Once we arrived at school, we immediately started packing up the bus. Everyone looked like they just got drug out of the bed by their parents, just to come to another regular, boring day of school. I think I was the only one who was really excited; except for my Dad of course. Once the bus was completely packed with all our supplies, we all used the restroom, then hopped on the bus. When we arrived in Long Beach, my friends and I decided to skip rocks by throwing the rocks into the water. Unfortunately, we got reprimanded by the person who worked there. That embarrassment did not last long because of the exciting adventure ahead. I was surprised to see how wrong I was about the type of boat that we would be taking. All along, I thought we were going to be taking an old wooden boat like those in the old movies. Thankfully, I became pleasantly surprised when I saw a modern motor boat. Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would function as the binding force holding the growing polypeptide chain of the amino acid to the peptidyl site. This is in correlation to the process of translation, in which the RNA is translated into a polypeptide chain with the aid of Ribosomal RNA and transfer RNA. To begin the process prior to treatment, first the initiation process starts through tRNA and methionine serving as catalyst to form a complete ribosome in an empty A site. De Methylation is the removal of methyl groups from DNA all together, which would lead to active corresponding cancer genes thus enhancing the threat. So far it is clear to scientists that Methylation of DNA directly influences gene expression, cancer being abnormal in expression patterns. In repressing or stimulating methylation in the cell, research indicates that transcription of cancer cells can be repressed which could lead to cancer gene arrest. This drug would be a good candidate for an anti cancer drug because if we re able to correct the DNA methylation in cancer cells, they would be able to behave normally. Methylation inhibitors could assist in reactivating epigenetically silenced genes in cancer and reverse aberrant DNA methylation restoring regular gene functions and tumor cell growth arrest. The group of genes that would cause the most problems for an organism if mutated would be the Homeobox Genes. The Homeobox Genes are a class of regulatory genes that are used to help regulate the gene expression, and assist with body structure formation during early embryonic development. The Chinese and the Egyptians were the first to use salt on a large scale. The Egyptians collected evaporated salt from the sea and the Nile and they used the salt in their food as well as an essential ingredient in preserving the body during mummification. The Chinese used evaporated salt to salt fish and to create a condiment that we still use, soy sauce. It was the Romans, though, with their fish based diet that really used salt extensively in their cuisine. The next several chapters deal with the importance of salt in Christian Europe during the middle Ages and into the Early Modern period. In Catholic Europe, the church had placed certain dietary restriction forbidding meat on Fridays and church holidays. This created an enormous market for fish. Now, having read this last chapter of Salt, I am very aware of how extensive the history of this commodity is. One of the great underlying themes of Salt is the idea of how one little thing can make many different big things. In fact, Salt can read as one long tale of unintended consequences. Throughout history different people, rulers, inventors, ext. have tried to do one thing that lead to many different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Moving To High School Life Growing up as a young boy, immature, nothing was important to me than having my mother dressed me nicely every days of the week to go to school. I was so happy because I had a lot of friends I got along with; it was wonderful. However, that was not enough. When I became older, I decided to go to high school. I had no idea about who I want to in my life be because everything was different. After a couple years of going to school, I felt school was not the right place for me. I dropped out high school to start a job with minimum rate of pay. I thought leaving high school was a good idea, but my situation became worse. I knew there was more than what I was looking for as a teenage man, but it was not easy for me to understand. I decided to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With artists around, do people think women can be artists too? Can they be equal as men? Investigations at the time revealed that once the product reached the shelves, some of them were removed from the shelves, tampered and contaminated with deadly cyanide ingredients and then resealed, repackaged and replaced on the shelves by unscrupulous persons for motives unknown in pharmacies and grocery stores, causing the deaths. This crisis resulted in a recall of the Tylenol products on the market and Johnson Johnson s executives had to weigh several pressing issues for example, the loss in its market share that made it difficult for the company to take a decision in the cyanide crises. Essay about Inventory Management Systems Assignment 1: Inventory Management Systems Mondith Sreng CIS210 4/15/2012 During a conversion at my family dinner my sister mentioned her small clothing store and she also discussed how frustrating it is to manually track and record all of the high demanding items in her store. My sister would like an easier solution for her problem. She decided she wanted an automated system, but she told us that she has a very small budget. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now that she has the software to create her bar codes she is going to need a printer as well to print off her bar code labels. The Zebra thermal Barcode Printer is a basic bar code printer which would be perfect for my sister s budget it allows my sister to print off bar code and also the price right next to it and the bar code printer only costs $200. The ongoing maintenance that will be required for this process is that for every item my sister owns she will need to keep track on which code belongs to which item by typing the description into the system. By her doing so it is letting the system know which code it belongs to what and she wouldn t have any confusion on how many of that item she has left. That way whenever she scans an item out of her inventory she will know exactly how many of that item she has left in her inventory. My sister will also need to stock up on bar code labels for her bar code printer. She would need to check her inventory every month now since it is an automated method instead of a manual method which she would have to check up on inventory every week. (n.d.).
