King Theseus Research Paper
pp. 155 165 Theseus Theseus, son of Athenian king Aegeus, was raised in a city near southern
Greece. His mother was told by his father that if he was born a boy and became strong enough to
move a boulder that guarded a sword and a pair of shoes, he could come back to Athens and claim
that he is the son of Aegeus. Theseusaccomplished this task easily and was ready to set off for
Athens. His grandfather had a ship prepared to take him straight to Athens; however, just like his
cousin Hercules, Theseus wanted to prove himself as a great hero and take risks. Theseus walked
to Athens and killed every bandit in site; killing them in the ways that they killed their victims.
Upon his arrival to Athens, Theseus was treated like a hero and caused the king to worry that this

Medea, from the story of the Golden Fleece, knew who Theseus was and wanted to keep her
influence on the king, so she persuaded Aegeus to poison his son. Before Aegeus could give
Theseus the poison, Theseus presented the sword his father left for him and while Aegeus
embraced his son, dropping the cup of poison to the floor, Medea escaped to Asia. Aegeus
confessed to his son that before his arrival, he sent the son of Minos, the ruler of Crete, on a
dangerous mission to hunt a bull. The bull killed the son causing Minos to demand that every nine
years, seven youths and seven maidens be sacrificed to the mighty Minotaur. Theseus decided to be
one of the chosen sacrifices in order to kill the Minotaur. Minos daughter, Ariadne, falls in love
with Theseus and tells him that if he takes her back to Athens and marries her, she will help him
escape the Minotaur s lair. He used a ball of

Case Study Pg 204: Essentials of Critical Care Nursing
Mrs. K., A 68 year old white woman, has been admitted to the critical care unit with shortness of
breath at rest. Vital signs are BP, 218/100 mm Hg; HR, 110 beats/min; and RR, 3 breath/min. She
has run out of her antihypertensive medication for the fourth time this year and only came to the
hospital because of her breathing difficulties.
On examination, Mrs. K. is pale and clammy sitting upright in a chair. She has bibasilar crackles to
her scapulae, and her heart rhythm is irregularly irregular. She has pitting edema bilaterally to her
thighs, jugular venous pulsation to the earlobe, and bilateral infiltrates. An ECG shows a left
ventricular ejection fraction of 78% with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even with the limits of Amiodarone, it is often used as the first line drug of choice for A Fib and
those that are hemodynamically unstable. Amiodarone is a vasodilator and can increase cardiac
output. However, it will not significantly change the ejection fraction which is good since Mrs. K.
s is 78% (normal approximately 55 75%)
c. I did not see any treatments for her A Fib. There is no mention of thombolytics or anti
coagulants. This should also be considered for treatment.
2. Based on her presentation, physical assessment and hemodynamic number, was Mrs. K.
experiencing left or right sided failure, or both?
a. Both. Based on what is presented. She has JVD an indication of right sided failure because the
heart is unable to pump the massive amount of fluid coming from the body to the right side of the
heart. There is too much fluid for the right ventricle to pump into the pulmonary arteries. And
because of the A fib, it is not being pumped efficiently.
b. She is experiencing left sided failure as shown by the increased PAP and the bibasilar crackles
heard on auscultation. The fluid can t get into the left side of the heart and is backing up into the
lungs. Left sided failure is also indicated by the reduced cardiac index. The heart is not able to get
the fluid out to the body.
3. What role did atrial fibrillation play in Mrs. K. s heart failure?
a. This may have been answered in another question, but the atria s aren t pumping. In layman s

Diction And Tone In Shakespeare s Quatrain 18
The author s diction and tone explains how the reader can infer the poet s delight for immortality.
To begin, in Quatrain 1, the diction indicates a since tone. The author uses word choice such as
rough and short to demonstrate the tone of the text. Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? The
poet is not if he should compare the young man to summer . The author struggles to compare the
young man s beauty to summer because he recognizes the flaws of summer. Shakespeare s word
choice highlights the sincere tone which the reader can infer he takes pleasure in immortality. Next,
in Quatrain 3, the author s diction showcases an optimistic tone. The poet uses words like eternal

Cursive Research Paper
Typing and printing by hand are important skills to be acquired in the classroom, but the
importance of learning cursive should not be overlooked.
Technology is developing at such a rapid pace, that keyboards may soon be replaced for something
even more convenient. Although it is important that education looks forward, and develops with the
times, it is also important for education to provide students with tools to connect with and study the
past. Although cursive is no longer utilized in the United States for writing out important documents
or essays, it was utilized in documents of the past. The Constitution and Declaration of
Independence were both written out in beautiful and free flowing cursive. In these cases, cursive is

In this way, it has closer ties to pictographic languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Ancient
Egyptian, and Naxi. This artistic aspect of cursive exercises communication between the left and
right brain when it is being practiced. Schools still teach Latin although it is not spoken or used in
daily life. This is because it can be found on old architecture, and also because learning a difficult
language exercises certain parts of the brain. Latin can also be applied in a medical setting for
students interested in that field. Similarly, schools teach mathematics beyond the algebra needed
in daily life. This is also to exercise the brain in logical thinking, as well as to prep students who
will go into scientific or mathematical fields. The same type of thinking should be applied to
cursive. Cursive helps connect logical and artistic ways of thinking, in addition to being a
neccesity for students who are interested to going into graphic design or other art related fields.
Cursive is also important for students who want to do academic research in the future. Researching
the past, inevitably brings up old documents, many of which are written in cursive, illegible to

Florence Nightingale Impact In Nursing
Whether in acute care settings, global health care programs or community health organizations,
nurses rely on significant one on one time with their patients. By doing so, they gain a better
understanding of how to provide the kind of care that meets a patient s individual needs and
comfort standards. This patient centered care stems from Nightingale, who continues to have a
major influence on the nursing field today. Florence transformed nursing in London when she got
back in Crimea war, She had access to people in high places and she used it to get things done.
Florence was stubborn, opinionated and forthright but she had to be those things in order to achieve
all that she did. In the 1870s, Nightingale established nursing education by writing the first textbook
on the subject in 1960; entitled Notes of Nursing in her writing, she emphasized the importance of
patient observation to figure out their symptoms and needs, as to be able to provide the right care;

She developed the first modern hospital nursing, pharmacy, laundry, and nutrition services. Her
meticulous recordkeeping was the forerunner of today s medical records and epidemiology

tough minded manager who calculated and then reduced cost per patient day. Nightingale was
history s first and most effective advocate for the healthcare rights of soldiers and veterans; and of
course she was the guiding light for the first professional school of nursing. Her book Notes on
Nursing was the first manifesto for patient centered care, and her book Notes on Hospitals

The Agenda Setting Theory On The Public Agenda
Abstract
The history of the agenda setting theory goes back over 50 years to when it was introduced in a
1972 edition of Public Opinion Quarterly by Drs. Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw. It was
first developed as a means of studying the 1968 American presidential election as it relates to the
most important issues determined by the news media and the most important issues determined by
the 100 residents of Chapel Hill, North Carolina (McCombs Shaw, 1972). Still relevant today, the
agenda setting theory explains the influence of the media agenda on the public agenda. In a
comprehensive analysis of the agenda setting theory, agenda setting includes three levels or
psychological processes: basic agenda setting, attribute agenda setting and network agenda setting.
History of Agenda Setting Theory
The media s power in influencing public opinion has sparked the theory that we now know as
agenda setting. In 1922 this concept was first investigated by newspaper columnist Walter Lippman
(Wahl Jorgensen and Hanitzsch, 2009, pp.147). Since then Drs. Maxwell McCombs and Donald
Shaw have coined what we now know as the agenda setting theory. Their research of the 1968
presidential election of the Republican nominee Richard Nixon and the Democratic nominee
Hubert Humphrey proved groundbreaking. Before the agenda setting theory, assumptions were that
certain behaviors and attitudes were results of the way information was

Aerial Warfare Throughout The First And Second World Wars
The History of Aerial Warfare Throughout the First and Second World Wars When Aerial
Warfare was first introduced many thought it was useless, inferior, and just plain stupid. From
biplanes to dropping nuclear bombs, Aerial Warfare has come a long way. I am going to explain
the advancements and rapid adaptations Aerial Warfare made throughout the First and Second
World Wars. In the beginning of aerial warfare, it wasn t really warfare. It was more of
Reconnaissance. Sources suggest the first use of this Recon , was the Chinese, by using kites to
fly people in the air to scout out the enemy. World War 1 was the first legitimate war with air
combat, and real advancements in the field. The Germans heavily invested in aircraft technology,...

Close Air Support was developed and fighters were formed to help with this such as the Stuka
Dive Bomber, and the British Tempest. Aircraft also began hunting tanks with large caliber
machine guns and unguided rockets as ammunition. Aircraft carriers were used on a large scale,
and their true power was shown at the Battle of Midway in the Pacific. This battle also showed
how aircraft could use torpedos and take down massive warships successfully. Using aircraft to
transport supplies and troops were now adopted, and paratroopers were starting to be used.
Perhaps the most famous paratrooper mission which was Operation Market Garden, was a
nearly disastrous operation by the Allies in 1944. Huge transport planes such as the JU 52, and
the DC 3 could carry massive loads at decent speed, which was effective for resupplying.
Helicopters were soon developed, but were not really effective during the war. Aircraft played a
vital role in World War 2, and so many advancements and technology changed because of it. In
World War 1 air power was an addition to the war, but it didn t change the outcome of many
important campaigns of the war like World War 2 did. In conlusion, over both of the World Wars
aircraft warfare started from nothing and ended with nuclear bomb droppers and jet engine

Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing
Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing
Introduction:
The process of globalization is changing the way that companies large and small must conduct
business to survive. From external factors such as the international laws and widely varying
domestic tax policies to internal changes to personnel or process, free trade policies are altering
operational strategy, especially for small companies engaging in growth. One of the most
determinant changes brought on by free trade and its gradual permeation of the developing world
is the appeal of global outsourcing or off shoring for growing American businesses. Outsourcing
is the practice by which companies will employ agencies external to the company, and
increasingly external even to the primary country of operation, in order to attain specialty services
at a fee per service basis. Also important to the discussion, the concept of off shoring will find a
company expanding into a new international location by establishing a satellite base of operations
within. Each strategy carries its own unique set of challenges and advantages. Part of our task as a
growing company verging on its first venture of internationalization is to determine what balance of
these strategies might best serve our interests.
Factors in a Global Context:
There are many global factors to consider that have been emergent with the spread of globalization.
For a firm seeking an ideal context for establishing a new manufacturing center, cost is of course a

Organizational Culture Is The Most Important Variable That...
1.0 Introduction
As a result of the accelerating pace of globalization, business environments in which organizations
operate are increasingly turbulent and there is an unprecedented level of competition between rival
firms (News.bbc.co.uk, 2016). Owing to this persistent rise in competition, organizations are faced
with the dilemma of creating a viable competitive advantage. One way of developing such
advantage is by constructing a captivating organizational culture.
Organizational culture creates a unique identity that diversifies an organization from its opposition.
Ogbonna Lloyd (p, 32, 2002) defines organizational culture as the collective sum of beliefs, values,

2.1 Brief background on Doc s shipping
Doc s Shipping Ltd is a small organization that is run by the founder. The organization is setup as
a direct response to the emerging trends in the dynamic Maritime/Oil and Gas industry of the West
African Sub region. Additionally, Doc s shipping takes advantage of the Nigerian Coastwise trade
and the Maritime and Oil Gas sector of the economy (Austensgroup.com, 2016). It has a relatively
small workforce of only 45 employees.
2.2 Organizational Culture
There is no single way to describe culture, rather there are numerous. According to Schein (p. 12,
1992), Organizational culture is defined as a pattern of shared basic assumptions learned by a
group as it solves its problems of external adaptation and internal integration which has worked
well enough to be considered valid and therefore, to be taught to new members as the correct way
to perceived, think, and feel in relation to those problems. Another way to describe this concept is
that it is a system of assumptions, beliefs, values and behavioural norms which have been

ADR at Darden Restaurants and Hooters of America
More companies are turning to alternate dispute resolution (ADR) as an alterative to the judicial
system for settling employee disputes. There are some clear advantages and disadvantages to
ADR for both employers and employees. The best designed ADR programs are those that are fair
and impartial. A good ADR program should seek to find the best possible outcome for both parties
while saving time and money and preserving relationships. The least effective ADR programs tend
to be unfair and perpetuate the imbalance and bargaining power discrepancy frequently found in
employer employee relationships.

The court has determined that the Darden program appears to meet the legal tests for ADR. It is
important to note that Darden does not expect to reduce expenses via reduction in the payout of
damages and compensation to employees with legitimate claims; rather, their expected cost savings
lies in reducing court related fees.
In stark contrast, Hooters ADR program is a one sided agenda designed to help the company win
arbitration cases and save time and money. The ADR program takes advantage of the company s
superior bargaining power: employees must sign the agreement to arbitrate disputes in order to be
eligible for raises, transfers, and promotions. Employees are allowed only five days to review and
decide if they will accept or reject the agreement.
Hooters ADR agreement states that the company has the right to change the rules and procedures
at any time even while in the midst of an arbitration proceeding without notice. In addition, the
rules require employees to disclose their cases to the company, along with a list of witnesses and a
record of facts known to each witness. Hooters, meanwhile, is not required to reciprocate by
disclosing the details of its defense. The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit
summed it up by stating that the Hooters rules are so one sided that their only

As professional research journals and articles were not found, my research is based on
television facts from the Internet and pure analytical observation and comparison of present day

in this group advertised products aimed at children to include cereals, dolls, and toys, as well as
products aimed at women, such as laundry detergent, using girls for advertisers. I did find a
basic format of the child s commercial, even though the actors and products varied greatly. I
found camera action to be slow and fluent. Very few jump cuts and quick zooms were used;
instead, individual shots slid from scene to scene very fluidly. The camera would focus on the
children, giving equal coverage to each child and each product. This type of action gave the
viewer time to clearly see the product, as well as the actress using it.
The child actresses had similarities in almost every commercial. Most notably, they were all female,
appearing to be between the ages of six and eight, no matter what toy was being advertised. The
girls were outfitted in pinks, blues, yellows, and greens of all shades, but mostly light pastels.
Dresses and overalls were prominent as were bows, ponytails, curly blonde hair, petite bodies, and
smiles. Many toothy smiles crossed

How To Train Your Dog Essay
Training your dog is the most important part of canine companionship. A happy dog is one who
has structure and boundaries. Dogs are pack animals, and as such, they need guidance in the
behavior that you expect from them. If you don t follow through in this leadership role, then the
dog will naturally feel as if it is his place to do so. A dogthat understands that you are the leader
will naturally be easier to train.
Establish Leadership
You want your dog to understand that you are the person to look to when they question what is
right or wrong. This is done by being firm, yet kind with the dog. You don t want your dog to listen
to you out of fear, but out of respect. Setting boundaries is very important in gaining respect. Sit

Stay Active
A dog that is not properly exercised is a dog that will get into trouble! When a dog is bored, he will
create his own fun, and that is usually not a good thing. Take you dog on a walk each day. Grab a
Frisbee or a ball and go play in the backyard for a half hour. If you have a working dog, create a job
for him to do such as pulling the kids around the yard in a cart.
Practice
Your dog is well exercised and he understands that he needs to refer to you, so now is the time to
teach commands. When you begin teaching your dog obedience commands, it will take practice.
First, verbalize the command and attempt to get the dog to obey without any touching. For
example, if you are teaching sit , you can draw the treat in a straight line form the top of the head.
The dog will naturally follow the treat up and in turn his rear will go down. Repeat the command
as he performs it and then give him praise. Repeat this several times with any command you are
teaching so that he gets the hang of it.
But Don t Practice for Too Long

Demand For Medical Care Essay
Demand for Medical Care
The demand for medical care is derived from our demand for good health. Michael Grossman was
the first to do econometric research on this topic. Grossman s work established two approaches for
consideration. In the first, medical care is viewed as an input in the production function for health,
and in the second, as an output produced by medical care providers (Henderson, p.142). There are
two main factors that determine the demand for medical care. The first is the patient factor. This
includes a patient s health status, demographic characteristics and economic status. The second is
the physician factor. This is an interesting topic because it introduces the principal (patient) agent
(physician) problem. We are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a moral question that we need to answer is when do you stop? Thomas McKeown (1976)
noticed that there was a secular decline in mortality rates. The quality of life was one of the
major factors. There was an increase in income as well as education. The living standards and
nutrition chipped in as well. The public health authorities improved sanitation. Which in return
all lead to a decrease in diseases. An increase in technology also helped the cause. Diseases like
cancer where slowed due to Chemotherapy and stricter regulations directed to corporations on
dumping waste. (Henderson p.145) Genetics also play a major role in determining our health.
Half of your genes come from your father and the other half from your mother. There are two
factors that play a critical role in determining the health of an individual: the risk of exposure to
a particular disease and the ability of the individual to resist the disease (and recover from its
consequences) once exposed (Henderson p.144). If your father has high blood pressure then his
siblings are susceptible to high blood pressure too. Now we will look at the determinants in the
demand for medical care. Henderson defines demand as the sacrifice an individual is willing to
make in order to obtain a given amount of a particular good or service. In other words you can t
always get what you want. Need rarely equals demand. Need is almost always greater than demand.

Response to Death When someone is close to their deathbed, he/she often ask themselves similar
questions. Have I lived my life to the fullest? Am I ready to go on? Do I have any regrets? Other
people who care about us probably ask the same questions, but answer them selfishly to convince
us to stay or to fight. Ultimately it is up to the person on their deathbed to answer these questions
regardless of what their family and friends wish. Emily Dickinson, Dylan Thomas, and William
Carlos Williams have all written poems about death, but with varying points of view. Dickinson
writes about the acceptance of death, while Thomas writes about the fight for life, but it is ... Show

As the narrator begs his father to fight to stay alive, he brings up example after example of
various people who do not give up on their deathbeds. He compares these examples to his father
to show how he feels and how he looks up to his father. He first describes how wise men at their
end know dark is right, // Because their words had forked no lightning they // Do not go gentle
into that good night (Thomas 4). These men understand that death is natural, but they have not
made their mark in the world yet and thus try to fight death until they have. His second example
is essentially the same, but with good men instead. His third example is about Wild men who
caught and sang the sun in flight, // And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way (Thomas 10).
These are the men who took life for granted and do not realize how unfulfilled their lives are until
they are on their deathbeds. All of these examples are the son s way of pleading with his father
to hold on. His final example asks his father to try and be happy. He says, Grave men, near death,
who see with blinding sight // Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay (Thomas 13). He
is trying to encourage his father and tell him that being blind is not a good enough reason to
simply give up on life and wait for death. His last words to his father are quite moving as he says,

Cause And Effect Essay On Drunk Driving
Within the U.S and around the world, drunk driving is a major problem that is slowly destroying
the world around us by making it unstable to the rest of people who do partake in this action by
choice or at all. Drunk driving has done a large amount of damage to almost everything we know
from destroying whole families to making it unsafe for almost anyone to be on the road or close
to it because of these reckless drivers that in some way got behind the wheel of a motor vehicle
while in a drunken state making them a force that is a real danger to anyone. Drunk drivingis a
serious crime nowadays and has a hefty punishment to go with it depending on the amount of
damage done while behind the wheel. Taking the action of being behind the wheel while
intoxicated is a problem that not only endangers the driver but everyone around them causing
problems for everyone and everything. There are different types of drunk driving but most have
the same outcome in the end being that something bad ends up happening in the end. In the
world today drunk driving is a true problem all over, this issue is spread across the world causing
it to be a major danger to anybody that is in the pathway of the driver or behind the wheel of a
motor vehicle. With drunk driving being such a major problem all over the world, stats show
what places in the world will most likely have drunk drivers on the road. Currently the country
that has the most common occurrence with drunk driving is south africa. Other countries that
are listed after south africa for most common drunk drivers to occur is canada in second, the U.S
in 3rd, australia in 4th, and Italy in 5th, the list goes on. Being the 3rd country in the world to
have the most common drunk driver problems gives the U.S a bad reputation. Having this be
fact shows how bad of a problem that drunk driving really is for not only the U.S but all over the
world, which all cause major problems in some way to the people or the rest of the U.S. The
problem with drunk driving seems to be that people don t think that there is little punishment to
doing it and being caught in the act.
The cause of drunk driving it the amount of drinking that is able to be done nowadays with little

The Employability Skills and Self-Perceived Competence for...
INTRODUCTION
Significance of the Study
The responsibilities of entry level managers in the hospitality industry are continuously changing.
Obtaining and keeping a management job in a restaurant or hotel requires that a person have the
ability to change. Successful managers have the enthusiasm to respond to the changing needs and
challenges of their organization (Woods amp; King, 2002). Some of these challenges are due to the
changes affecting the hospitality industry today, Consequently, the curriculum and the methods
used to prepare entry level managers in this field should also be design to fit the demands of today
s industry.
Hospitality managers should be able to provide effective leadership to employees which indicated

Definition of Terms
The following terms are operationally defined as they apply to this study:
Competency: Those activities and skills judged essential to perform the duties of a specific
position (Tas, 2006, p. 41).
Employability: Brown, Hesketh, and Williams (2003), defined employability as the relative chance
of acquiring and maintaining different kinds of employment (p. 111).
Employability skills: Overtoom (2000), defined employability skills as transferable coreskill
groups that represent essential functional and enabling knowledge, skills and attitudes required by
the 21st century workplace necessary for career success at all levels of employment and for all
levels of education (p. 2).
Entry level Manager: Entry level manager is a management position given to individuals that have
attained the necessary theoretical basis for performing a management function.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Hospitality Curriculum and Employability Skills
According to Brand III (2005), One certainty is that continuous efforts must be made to revise and
update curriculum to ensure it is meeting student needs in the ever changing workforce. The
message from these studies is that educators should reassess their curriculum to ensure that their
curriculum is adequately developing students necessary employability skills (Walo, 2000).
Reflecting on the above assertions, it can be argued that curriculum should be reviewed
periodically to keep up with changes and

The Carnivalesque Role of the Fool in Twelfth Night and...
Twelfth Night and The Servant of Two Masters both relate to this course s theme of the
carnivalesque. Both plays share the commonality of having a clown, or a fool; in Twelfth Night
it is Feste or the Fool, and in The Servant of Two Masters it is Truffaldino. Both characters play
the fool in contrasting ways to express similar yet different forms of the carnivalesque. During
carnival, laughter is prominent; people are laughing together, they are laughing at each other, and
they are being laughed at. The laughter of carnival is both malicious and happy and everyone is
included in it. Feste and Truffaldino show the different aspects of carnival laughter through their
portrayals of the fool. Feste plays the role of the artificial fool... Show more content on

Truffaldino is too immersed in the action of the play to even notice the laughter of others.
Because he is so wrapped up in what is going on, he isn t able to stop and notice that everyone is
laughing at him. This is clearly shown in the dinner scene. Truffaldino is so busy trying to serve
both masters that he misses the other waiters making fun of him and he misses how foolish he
looks running back and forth from Beatrice s room to Florindo s room stuffing food in his mouth
in between (Goldoni 129 134). Feste and Truffaldino both take part in trickery in their respective
plays. Their motives behind doing the tricks show the different ways that each character plays
the fool. Feste participates in the scheme against Malvolio by attempting to drive him insane by
dressing up as Sir Topas and speaking nonsense. In response to Malvolio complaining that it is
dark in the room, Feste says Why, it hath bay windows transparent as barricadoes, and the
clerestories toward the south north are as lustrous as ebony. And yet complainest thou of
obstruction? (Shakespeare 4.2.34 36) Feste tells Malvolio that the room has two small windows
that are as clear to see out of as if looking out of stone and that the windows facing south north are
as clear as ebony. It makes no sense. Feste contributes to this prank out of revenge. Malvolio had
wronged him in the past: I was one, sir, in this interlude, one Sir

The most thorough account of judicial practice would then have to go on to study the education
and training of judges, and their embedding within a particular culture or cultures of legal
behaviour. What are the consequences of this argument? If practices are essentially ways of
acting in given circumstances, any general theory may be too distant from the practice to capture
how judges actually interpret cases. Judicial interpretation is always a matter of a specific case
and a singular set of facts. To understand why a judge in a particular case comes to a particular
conclusion necessitates a study of a precise legal context. In other words, a general account of
precedent perhaps tells us more about the practice of academic writing than it does about the work
of judges. It may be that the best way to understand the practice of judicial interpretation is to
abandon any general account, and to see how it proceeds in different doctrinal areas of law. This
would indicate that the best way to understand the practice of precedent is to study cases within
their specific contexts†.

Precedence and judicial creativity
However, given that we need a general account of precedent, we can suggest some overarching
concerns that structure judicial practice. The historical beginnings of the present doctrine of
precedent obscure the extent to which judicial practice is creative. Judges make law, as Lord

Ford Edsel Biography Essay
First produced in 1958, The Edsel was produced by inspiration of Henry Ford s Son, Edsel Ford,
who passed away on May 26th, 1943. The Edsel was only on production for 3 years. Only about
160,000 Edsels were produced in that time period due to the lack of sales (Skinner). This model of
car was discontinued in 1960 and the failure cost Ford Motor Companymillions of dollars. There
are still a few thousand Edsels in existence and there are clubs around the world founded
exclusively for owners of the Ford Edsel.
Edsel Bryant Ford was born on November 6th, 1893. This was around the time that cars started
rolling out onto the dirt roads. (Ford Corporate) Edsel did not like horse drawn carriages because
the lack of style and comfort. This is why he helped his dad draw and design cars for the Ford
Motor Company. The Ford Motor Company was started on the 16th of June in 1903 with only
$28,000 from a few investors (Bak 1). He and his dad, Henry Ford worked on cars all the time
together. It was their favorite pass time. Edsel built 2 cars from scratch of his very own with his
dad Henry Ford. The two cars were called the speedsters. He based the cars off of the Ford Model
T. He made two of those cars.
In 1912. Edsel decided not to go to college and go straight into the automotive industry. In the first
3 years of his career, Edsel did basic office work at the Ford Motor Company which included,
Writing papers, sales, and helping consumers with their paperwork. Eventually in 1915, he

Synthetic Life Essay
The creation of synthetic life forms: the science, benefits, risks and ethics.
The creation of a synthetic life form is the production of an artificial autonomous self replicating
organism under in vitro conditions from biochemicals. Synthetic life experiments and creation of
synthetic cells gives us an unparalleled insight into the origin of life, the fundamental genes and
essential genetic functions required for life and may someday allow the manipulation of the roles of
cells and organisms to benefit humanity and the environment. Advancements into synthetic life
remain a controversial topic among today s leaders in bioethics, pioneers in the synthetic biology
field and the general public. They also raise the heated issue in today s society about biosecurity.
The creation of synthetic life is encompassed by two fundamental disciplines, synthetic biology and
synthetic genomics. Although it is challenging constricting synthetic biology to a singular
definition it is best broadly described as an aims to design and engineer biologically based parts,
novel devices and systems as well as redesigning existing, natural biological systems. (The Royal
Academy of Engineering, 2009). Synthetic genomics however has been defined succinctly from
genetic engineering as the chemical synthesis of DNA, the manipulation and assembly of genes,
gene pathways or whole genomes via computational techniques, allowing the synthetic design of all
the chromosomes. (Montague, Lartigue and Vashee,

Dramatic Development Of New Technologies And Media Content...
Dramatic development of new technologies and media content diversity, which gained a major
boost in recent years, entitled the audiences to power, which they never had before. People want
to participate in the process of creation and influence the form of provided entertainment and
information more than ever before. This statement relates to all media sectors. This power is an
effect of the tools that are being published by the contemporary cultural industry. Not only the
audiences are being given the technology, but also encouraged to make an innovative use of it.
With growing amounts of passionate individuals, who are willing to discover the techniques of
professional production, the prospect for innovations is greater than ever. Social media services
are the core point of auto promotion and a chance for being recognized by the industry. This helps
in the process of fostering a sense of the consumers and the servers and blurring the line between
them. It also affects the oligopolistic practices of major media corporations, changing the market
and relations between the big companies and small teams.
In this essay, I will provide an insight into the game industry, which created a very strong sense of
community with its audience. The demographic of players is extremely varied. The statistics from
America reveal the potential of this sector, proving that anyone can play games nowadays (Fig. 1).

Workplace Diversity In The Workplace
Workplace Diversity Benefits and Employment Laws
Workplace diversity refers to the variety of differences between people in an organization. Diversity
encompasses race, gender, ethnic group, age, personality, education, back ground, cognitive style
and much more. As the work places are becoming more multicultural and diverse, there is an
increased need in understanding the dimensions of diversity and cultural differences that affects the
business communication within organizations. A better understanding of these differences is not
only important to effectively bridge such gaps but also helpful in identifying the unique strengths
and perspectives, each diverse group brings, that an organization can benefit from.
Globalization presents new markets at home and abroad, and firms increasingly recognize the
importance of hiring a workforce that reflects their potential markets. Global companies strive to
create an inclusive culture in which differences are recognized and valued. By bringing together
people from diverse backgrounds and providing them opportunity to contribute their skills,
experience and perspectives, companies are able to deliver the best innovative solutions to
challenges and add value to their stakeholders.
In recent times the term inclusion is replacing diversity, diversity refers to a group s demographic
qualities, while inclusion involves the degree to which individuals feel a part of the organizational
process and are therefore encouraged to

Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists

POS 442 American Political Tradition
12 October, 2006
During the period between its proposal in September 1787 and ratification in 1789, the United
States Constitution was the subject of numerous debates. The contending groups consisted of
Federalists, those who supported ratification, and Anti Federalists, those opposed to the
constitution. Each group published a series of letters known as the Federalist and Anti Federalist
Papers. The Anti Federalist papers objected to provisions of the proposed constitution while the
Federalist Papers defended the rationale behind the document. Anti Federalist objections included

In what is considered the first anti federalist paper, Brutus writes: In a republic, the manners,
sentiments, and interests of the people should be similar. If this be not the case, there will be a
constant clashing of opinions; and the representatives of one part will be continually striving
against those of the other. This will retard the operations of government, and prevent such
conclusions as will promote the public good. This clash of ideas, opinions and lifestyles, he
argued, did not lend itself to any overarching federal government. He continues: The United
States includes a variety of climates. The productions of the different parts of the union are very
variant, and their interests, of consequence, diverse. Their manners and habits differ as much as
their climates and productions; and their sentiments are by no means coincident. The laws and
customs of the several states are, in many respects, very diverse, and in some opposite; each
would be in favor of its own interests and customs, and, of consequence, a legislature, formed of
representatives from the respective parts, would not only be too numerous to act with any care or
decision, but would be composed of such heterogenous and discordant principles, as would
constantly be contending with each other (Anti Federalist 1). The Federal Farmer adds: Different
laws, customs, and opinions exist in the different states, which by a uniform system of laws would

2-Methylcyclohexanol Dehydration
This experiment utilized the dehydration process of 2 methylcyclohexanol to give a mixture of 1
methylcyclohexene, 3 methylcyclohexene, and methylenecyclohexane. According to Zaitsef s rule,
1 methylcyclohexene is the major product because it is the most highly substituted product,
making it the most stable. 25 mL of 2 methylcyclohexanol was placed into a 100mL round bottom
flask along with 10mL of 9 M sulfuric acid and swirled to mix the contents. [1] H2SO4 is used for
the E2 reaction of dehydrating a primary alcohol. The OH group in 2 methylcyclohexanol donated
two electrons to a proton from H2SO4, which forms an alkyloxonium ion. [5] The HSO4

Giant Panda Affected by Road Construction
The Qinling giant pandas are a slowly diminishing species. If left unprotected they will eventually
become extinct. Fan, Li, Quan, Wu, Hu, and Yang investigated the effects of road construction on
endangered Qinling giant pandas. Road construction can greatly affect the environment. According
to the article, the harmful effects of roadway expansion extend to an area ten times broader than
the roadway itself (Fan et al., 2011, p. 145). It can cause harmful chemicals to contaminate water
sources and food supplies. Subsequently, road construction isolates species from one another, and
this in turn blocks gene flow..., which steeply [decreases] genetic diversity (Fan et al., 2011, p.
145). On the other hand, road networks can isolate these species from their main water source and
/or food supply. The giant pandas only food source is bamboo. Bamboo is a fickle plant that grows
in certain habitats, under pristine conditions. Therefore, becoming isolated from bamboo forestry is
detrimental to their survival. Researchers investigated the impact of road construction on giant
panda s habitat and its carrying capacity in the Qinling Mountains (Fan et al., 2011, p. 145).
Methods:
First, the scientists determined a study area that would serve as their representative sample of the
population. The south slope of the Qinling Mountains was chosen because it contained a rich
population of Qinling giant pandas, and the environmental conditions were optimal for bamboo
growth. Secondly,

The Rule of the Major Generals
The Major General rule was an idea by Cromwell to help reduce the threat of royalist conspiracy
and to help further his need for healing and settling . However, the rule lasted less than a year due
its unpopularity and lack of support from the local gentry. In addition, the Major Generals
themselves were either inconsistent in their application of the aims or were negligent in their
duties. Furthermore, the unrealistic aims of the rule set them up for failure before the rule had
even begun, historian Farr comments on the limits of the generals power and the fact that it s no
wonder the rule failed as the scope of the tasks were impossible to fulfil.
Whilst all of these factors play a part in the failure of the Major Generals rule, the most significant
is its negligence by the Major Generals themselves. Its unpopularity and unrealistic aims could have
been overcome if every generals was both optimistic about their role and fully committed to the
cause. The lack of responsibility of the Major Generals led to the public not thinking they could
support the rule, and rather than help the rule, cause its demise. Farr further suggests that it was its
practical failure, rather than alleged unpopularity which led to the rule failing. However, Sharp
explains that the establishment of the Major Generals did more to alienate the gentry than any other
move and in terms on of healing and settling , it was a disaster.
The rule of the Major Generals was not popular, the gentry deeply

Burmese Python Essay
A dangerous and unwelcome predator is slithering in our very backyards here in Florida the

wreaking havoc at the Everglades National Park, including areas nearby. Due to their rapid increase
in population, they are consuming a countless number of mammals and birds, causing displacement
to native species. This is a current and ongoing problem that warrants further research to properly
eradicate the Burmese python as they pose a threat to our safety and continue to ravage the
Everglades by consuming a large number of mammals and birds. The rise and popularity of
exotic pets along with irresponsible pet owners are the main cause of this invasion (Harvey et al.,

Although most of the traditions in the earlier eras were not recorded or written, through

culture. Language is the key module to a single culture, whether only one culture speaks a particular
language or many cultures across the world share that same language. Sharing a language with

One of these customs is the use of the twenty four hour time for official diagrams and everyday
scheduling. The way people carry out their days emphasizes the foremost variation from culture to
culture. Annual calendars show a discrepancy in which the day comes preceding the current month.
Another contrast in culture involves food. In the modern day English culture, most families obtain
the groceries from a local supermarket or a confined grocery store. Throughout the French culture,
however, cuisine is purchased through a fresh market or a farmer s market before each meal or
day. This actually allows French citizens to spend less and eat more fresh food. The French culture
is an immense stretch or a diminutive stretch from the traditional way of life in the United States.
Another variation in the French language is the structure of grammar. Terms used in the French
language are very dissimilar compared to that of the English language. For instance, the English
word know is actually represented in two different ways used in the French verbal communication.
ConnaГ®tre is used when trying to say that one physically knows another. Savoir is used when one
actually possesses knowledge about a specific fact or truth. Both words are used to make the

World War 2 the infamous Reggio Emilia approachwas coined by a young innovative teacher Loris

The belief that children are competent learners provides an environment which allows children
to realise and expand their potential, the Reggio Emilia approach outlines how every child
possess ideas which should be acknowledged, questioned and challenged to stimulate that child s
knowledge. Malaguzzi was famously quoted saying how a child has got a hundred languages
and born with a lot of possibilities (Dahlberg, Moss Pence, 2013). The Reggio approach
demonstrates how these different languages can be portrayed in various ways by children such
as drawing, dancing, painting, playing and through music to name a few. Consequently all these
methods of learning are valued highly and nurtured in the classroom and used as a way of
learning rather than a way of play. The approach from Reggio Emilia places an impetus on hands
on practical learning for children as they use all their senses to learn and develop. Early years
learning establishments in England could undoubtedly learn from the Reggio Emilia model which
places children in a position empowering them to control their learning as they investigate what
they want. English practices could take on board Malaguzzi s approach of the hundred different
languages fuller than they already do and the belief that every area of learning should be held in

haired peers. Erikson was largely influenced by Sigmund Freud and expanded upon his Human
Development theory with his own, the Psych Social Stages of Development. Erikson moved to
America in 1933 with his family to Boston, becoming the first child analyst in that area at Harvard
Medical School. He taught other institutions such as Yale and UC Berkeley. During his long career,
he wrote about a variety of topics ranging from issues of race and sexuality to influential figures in
history.
Erikson s Psyco Social Stages of Development was extremely influential the field of developmental
psychology because it laid down stages for ages to come. There are eight stages that span the
human life expectancy. The first stage is called Trust vs. Mistrust, which deals with infants. The
infant is developing trust within the mother and parental figures and with that trust, stability is
either established or not. The mistrust that infants may develop comes from a lack of stability with
their caregivers. The second stage is Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt, between the ages of a year
and a half and three. Children are either encouraged or criticized by their parents as they seek
independence. The autonomy comes from being

January Precept Analysis
The January precept states that you are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way. I
decided to ponder this statement for one month. Each day I examined the precept from a different
perspective, and thought about what it means. After several days of contemplation I decided to
directly apply the precept to different life situations. By the end of the month I had learned many
new things about myself. This time also helped me gain insight on the true meaning behind the
January precept. Ultimately I decided to agree with the principle of the January Precept. In my
life, the January precept holds great personal meaning. Each day I am guided by the principle
outlined in this precept. Following this principle has helped me lead a more positive and healthy
life. When... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would encourage anyone to think about this precept, and decide if they think it should be
applied to their life. I believe that if everyone were guided by this principle the world would
have many more people who are inspired and have the confidence to accomplish their most
unfeasible dreams and goals. For these reasons I find profuse meaning in the January precept. I
believe that I am currently living by the principal of the January precept. In the past I often
allowed myself to get in the way of growing as a person. One example of a time when I stood in
my own way was when I applied for a job on December 30, 2016. After applying for a position at
Publix supermarket I patiently awaited a phone call. Nearly eleven months went by with no
reciprocation from Publix. Finally, on November 15th, 2017, I marched into Publix and spoke to
a manager. After eleven months of waiting I was rewarded with a job. However the manager
informed me that if I had spoken to him earlier I would have been given the position right away.
Because of this disappointment, I learned to be more ambitious and not allow lack

Men’s Angst with Society´s Perception of Masculinity
...men are unhappy and don t really know why.
Masculinity in the modern age is changing, so much so that many men feel inadequate. A large
amount of men are unable to understand what type of masculinity they fit into and what they want
to fit into. In Gurmeet S. Kanwal s article from Psychology Today: The masculinitycrisis, male
malaise, and the challenge of becoming a good man he says that, the perception and image of
heterosexual men in this country has never been as negative, de idealized, and potentially harmful
as it is now. And lots of men are feeling it. Men are now feeling that they do not fit into or do not
want to fit into popular masculinity. This is similar to the way American men were feeling about
masculinity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is similar to how men feel now; they believe they can do more than society accepts them to
do. An example would be where a man would want to be the stay at home dad and take care of
the children, where it may seem outlandish now, will most likely become easily accepted in the
future. History points toward progressive changes in equality for both genders after rough
receptions of new ideas of how they can act. These ties into my thesis that new masculinities will
be established which in time will become accepted by society just as it has happened in the past.
The wanting for a new type of masculinity to fit into by males is only fueled by the male malaise
that has been spreading recently, in Kanwal s article there are many examples of this. The Atlantic
came out with an issue where the cover had an article titled The End of Men by Hanna Rosin. She
discusses how men have been the dominant sex since the beginning of humanity, but that it is now
changing to women who will start gaining dominance, and how that only two of the fifteen
growing jobs in the future, men have a larger representation of. This sends a blow to the idea that
men should be the breadwinners, and makes men feel inept to be financially supportive. It only gets
worse with articles such as Are Fathers Necessary? by Pamela Paul, in which she states that there is
nothing essential about men s contribution to their children. Media bashfulness on male masculinity

Mozambique Is A Poor Country Essay
Introduction
Mozambique is a poor country located in South eastern Africa, having a population of 25, 303, 113
it suffers the risk of food insecurity. Food security is when all people at all times have physical and
economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food, that meets dietary requirements for a healthy
lifestyle. Mozambique has a high level of food insecurity, like many other countries in Africa,
putting individuals, families and communities at risk. Some major factors in Mozambique that
affect its food security are poor agriculture, the occurrence of natural disasters, and the presence of
diseases particularly HIV and AIDS. Along with many other minor contributors such as food prices,
urban migration, and pollution of surface and coastal waters.
Background
Mozambique is one of the world s poorest countries, sitting on the east coast of Africa bordering
the Mozambique Channel, it has neighbouring countries, South Africa, Malawi and Tanzania. Its
current population is 25, 303, 113 with the capital city Maputo having a population of 1, 191, 613.
Out of this massive population, 64% of people are food insecure, consuming 2,112 kilocalories per
Capita per day.
In Mozambique, 52% of the country is below the poverty line with the average life expectancy rate
being 52.18 years for males and 53.72 years for females. Out of this population, only 58.8% of

Similarities And Differences Between Alexander The Great...
The king of kings Alexander the Great and Gaius Julius Caesar are considered to this day as some
of the most influential rulers and military generals in history. While there s a distinct difference
between their journey to power and background, it s undeniable that the two leaders share many
similar characteristics and the infamous ambition both possess that drives them almost to the brink
of obsession in order to achieve their individual goals.
Alexander the Great was born to King Philip II, around 356 B.C. in Macedonia. Alexander
witnessed his father rule Macedonia as the king and having had one of the greatest philosophers
at the time, Aristotle as his teacher it s no surprise that Alexander from a very early age showed
characteristics of a leader. When Alexander managed to tame the horse, Bucephalus his father
pointed out even as a child his ambition is far too great, My son, seek thee out a kingdom equal to
thyself; Macedonia has not room for thee (Plutarch 317). Alexander didn t experience struggles or
opposition when he rose to power, in fact he had inherited his position when his father was
assassinated. However, there is no concrete evidence whether Alexander the great had anything to
do with the death of his father.
On the other hand, Julius Caesar s journey to power was nothing but struggles as he slowly
ascended his way to the top. Julius Caesar was born into a family of Aristocrats in Rome around
100 B.C. He had a set of strict parental figures who would constantly beat him to the point of
greatness. When Caesar was a child he would drive a chariot pretending to be a general like
Alexander from a young age displayed characteristics of a true leader. At the age of fifteen he
was first introduced to the political life, accompanied his father, who was a senate to the forum.
That same year his father died and he had the responsibility of being the head of his family.
Shortly after he had gotten himself married to the daughter of a powerful man but eventually his
entire wealth was confiscated as civil war broke out and he fled. When he had returned four years
later the whole roman political system changed as well as did Caesar.
One of the biggest difference between Alexander and Caesar is that

Equal Rights to Marry for Same-Sex Couples
California Proposition 8: Same Sex Marriage
The equal right to marry for same sex couples in the United States has acquired growing public
support over time, with a quantity of state level laws passed and others presently up for debate.
Proposition 8 was a ballot proposition and constitutional amendment that was passed in the
November 2008 state elections in California. The measure added a new provision, Section 7.5 of
the Declaration of Rights, to the California Constitution, which provides that only marriage
between a man and a woman is legitimate or recognized in California. By limiting the
acknowledgment of marriage to opposite sex couples, the proposition reversed the California
Supreme Court s ruling of In re Marriage Cases that same sex couples have a constitutional right to
get married (Newman, 2010). The wording of Proposition 8 was exactly the same as Proposition 22,
which had passed in 2000 and, as an ordinary statute, had been nullified by the State Supreme Court
in 2008. California s State Constitution put Proposition 8 into instant effect the day after the
election (Scotto, 2010). Supporters of the constitutional amendment contended that solely
heterosexual marriage was a necessary institution of society and that leaving the constitution
untouched would result in public schools teaching the kids that gay marriage is okay, and that gays
do not have the right to redefine marriage for everyone else. Opponents contended that the freedom
to marry is

Governor Johnston was a long time advocate of education for the Chickasaw people, Governor

integrated into the rooms to give the children an early introduction to computer technology.
They also provide opportunities for hands on activities, which is a great way for children of all
ages to get in touch with the world around them. For example, in the one year old s wing the
teachers use the boards for music and sometime the Oklahoma City Zoo s animal cameras where
the teachers teach about the different types of zoo animals. But some parents have regards with
SMART boards being used in their child s room. For example, in the one year old rooms parents
sometimes do not want their children being introduced to technology at that early of an age.
Which is not a good idea at this time, technology is used everywhere and it is better to learn early
on in life.
Next, the facility has immense safety precautions including locked doors, security cameras, good
teacher to student ratio, sign in and sign out sheets, and accident forms. In the Center every door
must be locked at all times. This prevents strangers from walking into the building and taking a
child, as well as allowing the teachers inside to see the person before they come into the room.
Another safety precaution is providing a security camera in every room that includes a built in
microphone.Between this and the student to teacher ratio the children are watched continually. The

Things To Know About Having The LASIK Procedure Later In Life
Now that you re older, you probably have more time and money to do things for yourself. If you
re tired of wearing glasses or contacts and have always wanted to have LASIK surgery, now might
be the time to do it. However, as you age, your eyes undergo many changes. Therefore, LASIK
might not be a good option any longer, or if it is, your doctor may need to take other factors into
consideration. Here are some things to consider.
Cataract Treatment
It s common for people to develop cataracts as they age. Cataracts can cause blurry vision, and
LASIK surgery cannot correct this. Your eyedoctor checks for the development of cataracts during
your yearly eye exams. If they grow large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you still have vision problems after surgery, your doctor may follow up with a LASIK procedure
after your eyes have healed.
Presbyopia
Presbyopia is another common eye problem associated with aging eyes. With this condition, it
gets harder and harder for you to see things up close. Reading glasses help because they magnify
near vision. However, you don t wear them all the time because you can t see things far away
with them on. That s why bifocals are usually the treatment of choice for presbyopia if you have
to wear glasses all the time. That way you can see far away and up close too.
Another option to bifocals is monovision. You can wear monovision contacts so one eye sees far
away and the other sees up close. This same theory can be applied to the LASIK procedure. When
you have presbyopia, the eye surgeon will probably adjust the vision in one eye so you can read up
close and adjust the other eye for clear far vision. Your brain adjusts so you can see clearly both
ways. It s a good idea to try monovision contacts before you have the LASIK procedure to make
sure you can tolerate it before having an irreversible surgery done on your

The Flight, Everything Changed My Life
The Flight
Everything changed . My way of thinking changed. My idea of the world changed . My reasons
for studying changed . My way of sleeping changed . Everything changed when I got off that
plane . But it was still me . I still wanted to play. I still wanted to get a car . I still wanted to waste
my time . I still didn t want to study. Before the plane, I didn t have a reason to study. There
weren t many choices anyway . I didn t even know if I needed to study. I could have died at any
time a missile could have hit my house, or a bullet could have hit me in the head.
It was hard on me. It was hard on my family. It was especially hard on my mom, she almost had a
nervous breakdown. She was always sad and crying. If we ever talked about how the city was or
about politics, she would start crying. Whenever one of my aunts called we had to tell them to
not talk about that stuff. She wouldn t let my sisters nor my cousins play in the yard, neither
would my aunts. Now that I think about it, they were right. They really could have been killed.
They could have got killed by a drive by shooter that had no reason except his desire to kill
another person. They could have been kidnapped, and maybe return for a ransom. I was confused
why my mom felt like that. It was true that we were in a city that was in a war and the city was
very dangerous, but the war was on the sides of the city or that s what I thought. On the other side
of my family, my dad s side, things

Shakespeare Literary Criticism
Shakespeare s many plays are some of the most treasured and infamous works of literature in
British history and in World history. Shakespeare coined many terms and phrases commonly used
in the English language today in his writings. His works were and still are almost universally
acclaimed and admired for their level of storytelling, intelligent use of the english language, and
techniques ahead of their time. There is, however, a great deal of controversy regarding whether
The Bard really authored his plays, or whether they were mislabeled and plagiarised by a phony
author. Many factors contribute to these suspicions, and many allegations have been made
regarding Shakespeare s works being plagiarized by fellow authors and scholars.
One of the most convincing arguments that Shakespeare did not write his plays is the intimate
knowledge of royal affairs shown in his works. Plays such as Othello show an intimate
knowledge of the royal class and the military, and Shakespeare was but a poor playwright who
was of obvious low or middle class stature and values. In his book Is Shakespeare Dead?, well
known and proven author Mark Twain states this about his views on the Shakespeare Plagiarism
controversy, It is surmised by the biographers that the young Shakespeare got his vast knowledge
of the law and his familiar and accurate acquaintance with the manners and customs and shop talk
of lawyers through being for a time the CLERK OF A STRATFORD COURT: just as a bright lad

  • 2. King Theseus Research Paper pp. 155 165 Theseus Theseus, son of Athenian king Aegeus, was raised in a city near southern Greece. His mother was told by his father that if he was born a boy and became strong enough to move a boulder that guarded a sword and a pair of shoes, he could come back to Athens and claim that he is the son of Aegeus. Theseusaccomplished this task easily and was ready to set off for Athens. His grandfather had a ship prepared to take him straight to Athens; however, just like his cousin Hercules, Theseus wanted to prove himself as a great hero and take risks. Theseus walked to Athens and killed every bandit in site; killing them in the ways that they killed their victims. Upon his arrival to Athens, Theseus was treated like a hero and caused the king to worry that this hero, who he didn t know was his son,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Medea, from the story of the Golden Fleece, knew who Theseus was and wanted to keep her influence on the king, so she persuaded Aegeus to poison his son. Before Aegeus could give Theseus the poison, Theseus presented the sword his father left for him and while Aegeus embraced his son, dropping the cup of poison to the floor, Medea escaped to Asia. Aegeus confessed to his son that before his arrival, he sent the son of Minos, the ruler of Crete, on a dangerous mission to hunt a bull. The bull killed the son causing Minos to demand that every nine years, seven youths and seven maidens be sacrificed to the mighty Minotaur. Theseus decided to be one of the chosen sacrifices in order to kill the Minotaur. Minos daughter, Ariadne, falls in love with Theseus and tells him that if he takes her back to Athens and marries her, she will help him escape the Minotaur s lair. He used a ball of ... Vital signs are BP, 218/100 mm Hg; HR, 110 beats/min; and RR, 3 breath/min. She has run out of her antihypertensive medication for the fourth time this year and only came to the hospital because of her breathing difficulties. On examination, Mrs. K. is pale and clammy sitting upright in a chair. She has bibasilar crackles to her scapulae, and her heart rhythm is irregularly irregular. She has pitting edema bilaterally to her thighs, jugular venous pulsation to the earlobe, and bilateral infiltrates. An ECG shows a left ventricular ejection fraction of 78% with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even with the limits of Amiodarone, it is often used as the first line drug of choice for A Fib and those that are hemodynamically unstable. Amiodarone is a vasodilator and can increase cardiac output. However, it will not significantly change the ejection fraction which is good since Mrs. K. s is 78% (normal approximately 55 75%) c. I did not see any treatments for her A Fib. There is no mention of thombolytics or anti coagulants. This should also be considered for treatment. 2. Based on her presentation, physical assessment and hemodynamic number, was Mrs. K. experiencing left or right sided failure, or both? a. Both. Based on what is presented. She has JVD an indication of right sided failure because the heart is unable to pump the massive amount of fluid coming from the body to the right side of the heart. There is too much fluid for the right ventricle to pump into the pulmonary arteries. And because of the A fib, it is not being pumped efficiently. b. She is experiencing left sided failure as shown by the increased PAP and the bibasilar crackles heard on auscultation. The fluid can t get into the left side of the heart and is backing up into the lungs. Left sided failure is also indicated by the reduced cardiac index. The heart is not able to get the fluid out to the body. 3. What role did atrial fibrillation play in Mrs. K. s heart failure? a. • 5. Cursive Research Paper Typing and printing by hand are important skills to be acquired in the classroom, but the importance of learning cursive should not be overlooked. Technology is developing at such a rapid pace, that keyboards may soon be replaced for something even more convenient. Although it is important that education looks forward, and develops with the times, it is also important for education to provide students with tools to connect with and study the past. Although cursive is no longer utilized in the United States for writing out important documents or essays, it was utilized in documents of the past. The Constitution and Declaration of Independence were both written out in beautiful and free flowing cursive. In these cases, cursive is utilized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this way, it has closer ties to pictographic languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Ancient Egyptian, and Naxi. This artistic aspect of cursive exercises communication between the left and right brain when it is being practiced. Schools still teach Latin although it is not spoken or used in daily life. This is because it can be found on old architecture, and also because learning a difficult language exercises certain parts of the brain. Latin can also be applied in a medical setting for students interested in that field. Similarly, schools teach mathematics beyond the algebra needed in daily life. This is also to exercise the brain in logical thinking, as well as to prep students who will go into scientific or mathematical fields. The same type of thinking should be applied to cursive. Cursive helps connect logical and artistic ways of thinking, in addition to being a neccesity for students who are interested to going into graphic design or other art related fields. Cursive is also important for students who want to do academic research in the future. Researching the past, inevitably brings up old documents, many of which are written in cursive, illegible to those who have only learned to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Florence Nightingale Impact In Nursing Whether in acute care settings, global health care programs or community health organizations, nurses rely on significant one on one time with their patients. By doing so, they gain a better understanding of how to provide the kind of care that meets a patient s individual needs and comfort standards. This patient centered care stems from Nightingale, who continues to have a major influence on the nursing field today. Florence transformed nursing in London when she got back in Crimea war, She had access to people in high places and she used it to get things done. Florence was stubborn, opinionated and forthright but she had to be those things in order to achieve all that she did. In the 1870s, Nightingale established nursing education by writing the first textbook on the subject in 1960; entitled Notes of Nursing in her writing, she emphasized the importance of patient observation to figure out their symptoms and needs, as to be able to provide the right care; Nightingale mentored Linda Richards,... Her meticulous recordkeeping was the forerunner of today s medical records and epidemiology functions. She established the principle that triage should be based on medical need and not status, rank or religion. And while she was obviously a compassionate caregiver, she was also a tough minded manager who calculated and then reduced cost per patient day. Nightingale was history s first and most effective advocate for the healthcare rights of soldiers and veterans; and of course she was the guiding light for the first professional school of nursing. I m proud of my talents and personality traits who make me who I am. If I had to pick one trait that exemplifies Cole Fluta, it would be my ability to be a leader. One of my biggest passions is baseball. I have always been good and strive to play at the next level. My whole life has always consisted of baseball, so much to the point that I could not imagine my life without it. Baseball is such a great game because it teaches you to fail, and how to deal with failure. It is actually known as the game of failure, considering you fail more times than you succeed. • 8. The Agenda Setting Theory On The Public Agenda Abstract The history of the agenda setting theory goes back over 50 years to when it was introduced in a 1972 edition of Public Opinion Quarterly by Drs. Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw. It was first developed as a means of studying the 1968 American presidential election as it relates to the most important issues determined by the news media and the most important issues determined by the 100 residents of Chapel Hill, North Carolina (McCombs Shaw, 1972). Still relevant today, the agenda setting theory explains the influence of the media agenda on the public agenda. In a comprehensive analysis of the agenda setting theory, agenda setting includes three levels or psychological processes: basic agenda setting, attribute agenda setting and network agenda setting. History of Agenda Setting Theory The media s power in influencing public opinion has sparked the theory that we now know as agenda setting. In 1922 this concept was first investigated by newspaper columnist Walter Lippman (Wahl Jorgensen and Hanitzsch, 2009, pp.147). Since then Drs. Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw have coined what we now know as the agenda setting theory. Their research of the 1968 presidential election of the Republican nominee Richard Nixon and the Democratic nominee Hubert Humphrey proved groundbreaking. Before the agenda setting theory, assumptions were that certain behaviors and attitudes were results of the way information was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aerial Warfare Throughout The First And Second World Wars The History of Aerial Warfare Throughout the First and Second World Wars When Aerial Warfare was first introduced many thought it was useless, inferior, and just plain stupid. From biplanes to dropping nuclear bombs, Aerial Warfare has come a long way. I am going to explain the advancements and rapid adaptations Aerial Warfare made throughout the First and Second World Wars. In the beginning of aerial warfare, it wasn t really warfare. It was more of Reconnaissance. Sources suggest the first use of this Recon , was the Chinese, by using kites to fly people in the air to scout out the enemy. World War 1 was the first legitimate war with air combat, and real advancements in the field. The Germans heavily invested in aircraft technology,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Close Air Support was developed and fighters were formed to help with this such as the Stuka Dive Bomber, and the British Tempest. Aircraft also began hunting tanks with large caliber machine guns and unguided rockets as ammunition. Aircraft carriers were used on a large scale, and their true power was shown at the Battle of Midway in the Pacific. This battle also showed how aircraft could use torpedos and take down massive warships successfully. Using aircraft to transport supplies and troops were now adopted, and paratroopers were starting to be used. Perhaps the most famous paratrooper mission which was Operation Market Garden, was a nearly disastrous operation by the Allies in 1944. Huge transport planes such as the JU 52, and the DC 3 could carry massive loads at decent speed, which was effective for resupplying. Helicopters were soon developed, but were not really effective during the war. Aircraft played a vital role in World War 2, and so many advancements and technology changed because of it. In World War 1 air power was an addition to the war, but it didn t change the outcome of many important campaigns of the war like World War 2 did. In conlusion, over both of the World Wars aircraft warfare started from nothing and ended with nuclear bomb droppers and jet engine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing Introduction: The process of globalization is changing the way that companies large and small must conduct business to survive. From external factors such as the international laws and widely varying domestic tax policies to internal changes to personnel or process, free trade policies are altering operational strategy, especially for small companies engaging in growth. One of the most determinant changes brought on by free trade and its gradual permeation of the developing world is the appeal of global outsourcing or off shoring for growing American businesses. Outsourcing is the practice by which companies will employ agencies external to the company, and increasingly external even to the primary country of operation, in order to attain specialty services at a fee per service basis. Also important to the discussion, the concept of off shoring will find a company expanding into a new international location by establishing a satellite base of operations within. Each strategy carries its own unique set of challenges and advantages. Part of our task as a growing company verging on its first venture of internationalization is to determine what balance of these strategies might best serve our interests. Factors in a Global Context: There are many global factors to consider that have been emergent with the spread of globalization. In stark contrast, Hooters ADR program is a one sided agenda designed to help the company win arbitration cases and save time and money. The ADR program takes advantage of the company s superior bargaining power: employees must sign the agreement to arbitrate disputes in order to be eligible for raises, transfers, and promotions. The public health authorities improved sanitation. Which in return all lead to a decrease in diseases. An increase in technology also helped the cause. Diseases like cancer where slowed due to Chemotherapy and stricter regulations directed to corporations on dumping waste. (Henderson p.145) Genetics also play a major role in determining our health. Half of your genes come from your father and the other half from your mother. There are two factors that play a critical role in determining the health of an individual: the risk of exposure to a particular disease and the ability of the individual to resist the disease (and recover from its consequences) once exposed (Henderson p.144). If your father has high blood pressure then his siblings are susceptible to high blood pressure too. Now we will look at the determinants in the demand for medical care. Other people who care about us probably ask the same questions, but answer them selfishly to convince us to stay or to fight. Ultimately it is up to the person on their deathbed to answer these questions regardless of what their family and friends wish. He first describes how wise men at their end know dark is right, // Because their words had forked no lightning they // Do not go gentle into that good night (Thomas 4). These men understand that death is natural, but they have not made their mark in the world yet and thus try to fight death until they have. His second example is essentially the same, but with good men instead. His third example is about Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, // And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way (Thomas 10). These are the men who took life for granted and do not realize how unfulfilled their lives are until they are on their deathbeds. All of these examples are the son s way of pleading with his father to hold on. His final example asks his father to try and be happy. He says, Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight // Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay (Thomas 13). He is trying to encourage his father and tell him that being blind is not a good enough reason to simply give up on life and wait for death. His last words to his father are quite moving as he says, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray, // Do not go gentle into that good night. / / Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas 17). The son does not care if his father curses or blesses him so long as he fights to live and does not give up. The most thorough account of judicial practice would then have to go on to study the education and training of judges, and their embedding within a particular culture or cultures of legal behaviour. What are the consequences of this argument? If practices are essentially ways of acting in given circumstances, any general theory may be too distant from the practice to capture how judges actually interpret cases. Judicial interpretation is always a matter of a specific case and a singular set of facts. To understand why a judge in a particular case comes to a particular conclusion necessitates a study of a precise legal context. In other words, a general account of precedent perhaps tells us more about the practice of academic writing than it does about the work of judges. It may be that the best way to understand the practice of judicial interpretation is to abandon any general account, and to see how it proceeds in different doctrinal areas of law. This would indicate that the best way to understand the practice of precedent is to study cases within their specific contexts†. †Precedence and judicial creativity However, given that we need a general account of precedent, we can suggest some overarching concerns that structure judicial practice. The contending groups consisted of Federalists, those who supported ratification, and Anti Federalists, those opposed to the constitution. Each group published a series of letters known as the Federalist and Anti Federalist Papers. The Anti Federalist papers objected to provisions of the proposed constitution while the Federalist Papers defended the rationale behind the document. Anti Federalist objections included that; the United States was too extensive to be governed by a republic, the constitution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In what is considered the first anti federalist paper, Brutus writes: In a republic, the manners, sentiments, and interests of the people should be similar. If this be not the case, there will be a constant clashing of opinions; and the representatives of one part will be continually striving against those of the other. This will retard the operations of government, and prevent such conclusions as will promote the public good. This clash of ideas, opinions and lifestyles, he argued, did not lend itself to any overarching federal government. He continues: The United States includes a variety of climates. The productions of the different parts of the union are very variant, and their interests, of consequence, diverse. Their manners and habits differ as much as their climates and productions; and their sentiments are by no means coincident. The laws and customs of the several states are, in many respects, very diverse, and in some opposite; each would be in favor of its own interests and customs, and, of consequence, a legislature, formed of representatives from the respective parts, would not only be too numerous to act with any care or decision, but would be composed of such heterogenous and discordant principles, as would constantly be contending with each other (Anti Federalist 1). Fan, Li, Quan, Wu, Hu, and Yang investigated the effects of road construction on endangered Qinling giant pandas. Road construction can greatly affect the environment. According to the article, the harmful effects of roadway expansion extend to an area ten times broader than the roadway itself (Fan et al., 2011, p. 145). It can cause harmful chemicals to contaminate water sources and food supplies. Subsequently, road construction isolates species from one another, and this in turn blocks gene flow..., which steeply [decreases] genetic diversity (Fan et al., 2011, p. 145). On the other hand, road networks can isolate these species from their main water source and /or food supply. The giant pandas only food source is bamboo. • 35. The Rule of the Major Generals The Major General rule was an idea by Cromwell to help reduce the threat of royalist conspiracy and to help further his need for healing and settling . However, the rule lasted less than a year due its unpopularity and lack of support from the local gentry. In addition, the Major Generals themselves were either inconsistent in their application of the aims or were negligent in their duties. Furthermore, the unrealistic aims of the rule set them up for failure before the rule had even begun, historian Farr comments on the limits of the generals power and the fact that it s no wonder the rule failed as the scope of the tasks were impossible to fulfil. Whilst all of these factors play a part in the failure of the Major Generals rule, the most significant is its negligence by the Major Generals themselves. Its unpopularity and unrealistic aims could have been overcome if every generals was both optimistic about their role and fully committed to the cause. The lack of responsibility of the Major Generals led to the public not thinking they could support the rule, and rather than help the rule, cause its demise. Farr further suggests that it was its practical failure, rather than alleged unpopularity which led to the rule failing. However, Sharp explains that the establishment of the Major Generals did more to alienate the gentry than any other move and in terms on of healing and settling , it was a disaster. The Reggio approach demonstrates how these different languages can be portrayed in various ways by children such as drawing, dancing, painting, playing and through music to name a few. An example would be where a man would want to be the stay at home dad and take care of the children, where it may seem outlandish now, will most likely become easily accepted in the future. History points toward progressive changes in equality for both genders after rough receptions of new ideas of how they can act. These ties into my thesis that new masculinities will be established which in time will become accepted by society just as it has happened in the past. The wanting for a new type of masculinity to fit into by males is only fueled by the male malaise that has been spreading recently, in Kanwal s article there are many examples of this. This sends a blow to the idea that men should be the breadwinners, and makes men feel inept to be financially supportive. The king of kings Alexander the Great and Gaius Julius Caesar are considered to this day as some of the most influential rulers and military generals in history. While there s a distinct difference between their journey to power and background, it s undeniable that the two leaders share many similar characteristics and the infamous ambition both possess that drives them almost to the brink of obsession in order to achieve their individual goals. Alexander the Great was born to King Philip II, around 356 B.C. in Macedonia. Alexander witnessed his father rule Macedonia as the king and having had one of the greatest philosophers at the time, Aristotle as his teacher it s no surprise that Alexander from a very early age showed characteristics of a leader. When Alexander managed to tame the horse, Bucephalus his father pointed out even as a child his ambition is far too great, My son, seek thee out a kingdom equal to thyself; Macedonia has not room for thee (Plutarch 317). Alexander didn t experience struggles or opposition when he rose to power, in fact he had inherited his position when his father was assassinated. However, there is no concrete evidence whether Alexander the great had anything to do with the death of his father. On the other hand, Julius Caesar s journey to power was nothing but struggles as he slowly ascended his way to the top. Julius Caesar was born into a family of Aristocrats in Rome around 100 B.C. He had a set of strict parental figures who would constantly beat him to the point of greatness. When Caesar was a child he would drive a chariot pretending to be a general like Alexander from a young age displayed characteristics of a true leader. At the age of fifteen he was first introduced to the political life, accompanied his father, who was a senate to the forum. That same year his father died and he had the responsibility of being the head of his family. Shortly after he had gotten himself married to the daughter of a powerful man but eventually his entire wealth was confiscated as civil war broke out and he fled. Equal Rights to Marry for Same-Sex Couples California Proposition 8: Same Sex Marriage The equal right to marry for same sex couples in the United States has acquired growing public support over time, with a quantity of state level laws passed and others presently up for debate. Proposition 8 was a ballot proposition and constitutional amendment that was passed in the November 2008 state elections in California. The measure added a new provision, Section 7.5 of the Declaration of Rights, to the California Constitution, which provides that only marriage between a man and a woman is legitimate or recognized in California. By limiting the acknowledgment of marriage to opposite sex couples, the proposition reversed the California Supreme Court s ruling of In re Marriage Cases that same sex couples have a constitutional right to get married (Newman, 2010). The wording of Proposition 8 was exactly the same as Proposition 22, which had passed in 2000 and, as an ordinary statute, had been nullified by the State Supreme Court in 2008. California s State Constitution put Proposition 8 into instant effect the day after the election (Scotto, 2010). Supporters of the constitutional amendment contended that solely heterosexual marriage was a necessary institution of society and that leaving the constitution untouched would result in public schools teaching the kids that gay marriage is okay, and that gays do not have the right to redefine marriage for everyone else. Reading glasses help because they magnify near vision. However, you don t wear them all the time because you can t see things far away with them on. That s why bifocals are usually the treatment of choice for presbyopia if you have to wear glasses all the time. That way you can see far away and up close too. Another option to bifocals is monovision. You can wear monovision contacts so one eye sees far away and the other sees up close. This same theory can be applied to the LASIK procedure. When you have presbyopia, the eye surgeon will probably adjust the vision in one eye so you can read up close and adjust the other eye for clear far vision. • 54. The Flight, Everything Changed My Life The Flight Everything changed . My way of thinking changed. My idea of the world changed . My reasons for studying changed . My way of sleeping changed . Everything changed when I got off that plane . But it was still me . I still wanted to play. I still wanted to get a car . I still wanted to waste my time . I still didn t want to study. Before the plane, I didn t have a reason to study. There weren t many choices anyway . I didn t even know if I needed to study. I could have died at any time a missile could have hit my house, or a bullet could have hit me in the head. It was hard on me. It was hard on my family. It was especially hard on my mom, she almost had a nervous breakdown. She was always sad and crying. If we ever talked about how the city was or about politics, she would start crying. Whenever one of my aunts called we had to tell them to not talk about that stuff. She wouldn t let my sisters nor my cousins play in the yard, neither would my aunts. Now that I think about it, they were right. They really could have been killed. They could have got killed by a drive by shooter that had no reason except his desire to kill another person. They could have been kidnapped, and maybe return for a ransom. I was confused why my mom felt like that. It was true that we were in a city that was in a war and the city was very dangerous, but the war was on the sides of the city or that s what I thought. On the other side of my family, my dad s side, things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare coined many terms and phrases commonly used in the English language today in his writings. His works were and still are almost universally acclaimed and admired for their level of storytelling, intelligent use of the english language, and techniques ahead of their time. There is, however, a great deal of controversy regarding whether The Bard really authored his plays, or whether they were mislabeled and plagiarised by a phony author. Many factors contribute to these suspicions, and many allegations have been made regarding Shakespeare s works being plagiarized by fellow authors and scholars. One of the most convincing arguments that Shakespeare did not write his plays is the intimate knowledge of royal affairs shown in his works. Plays such as Othello show an intimate knowledge of the royal class and the military, and Shakespeare was but a poor playwright who was of obvious low or middle class stature and values. In his book Is Shakespeare Dead?, well known and proven author Mark Twain states this about his views on the Shakespeare Plagiarism controversy, It is surmised by the biographers that the young Shakespeare got his vast knowledge of the law and his familiar and accurate acquaintance with the manners and customs and shop talk of lawyers through being for a time the CLERK OF A STRATFORD COURT: just as a bright lad like me, ...
