Foreign Aid Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of foreign aid is a task that requires a nuanced understanding of
international relations, economic policies, and global development issues. The complexity of this
topic lies in its multifaceted nature, as it involves examining the intricate dynamics between
donor nations and recipients, the effectiveness of aid programs, and the ethical considerations
surrounding foreign assistance.
One of the challenges in writing such an essay is the need to navigate through a vast amount of
information and perspectives. Foreign aid encompasses a wide range of subjects, from
humanitarian aid in times of crisis to long-term development projects aimed at poverty
alleviation. The writer must carefully select and integrate relevant data and scholarly viewpoints
to present a well-informed and balanced argument.
Moreover, the subject demands a critical analysis of the impact of foreign aid on both donor and
recipient nations. Evaluating the success or failure of aid programs requires a deep
understanding of economic indicators, social factors, and geopolitical considerations. This
complexity adds an extra layer of difficulty to the task, as the writer must grapple with the
ambiguity and conflicting opinions surrounding the effectiveness of foreign aid initiatives.
Additionally, addressing the ethical dimensions of foreign aid introduces another layer of
complexity. Questions about the motivations behind aid, potential dependency issues, and the
power dynamics involved in aid relationships require careful consideration. A successful essay on
foreign aid must not only present a well-reasoned argument but also acknowledge and engage
with the ethical dilemmas inherent in the topic.
In conclusion, writing an essay on foreign aid is a challenging endeavor that demands a thorough
understanding of global affairs, economic theories, and ethical principles. The writer must
navigate through a sea of information, critically analyze diverse perspectives, and present a
coherent and well-supported argument. Despite the difficulties, delving into the complexities of
foreign aid provides an opportunity to explore the intricacies of international relations and
contribute to the ongoing discourse on global development.

Public Space, Race Street Pier
Observation For the final Philadelphia Experience report, I decided to observe a
public space, Race Street Pier. To get to the pier you can either walk or drive a car
there. Since I don t live in the city, I had to drive. Once there, I approached a big
black gate that was wide open with the name of the pier on it. Walking from the
busy street behind me, I wandered into a tree covered garden with two possible
paths to pick from. I chose the one on the left. This path was lined with trees and
lights with benches every couple of feet. As I continued walking, I realized that
water completely surrounded the rest of the pier. It felt like I was on a boat, which
was ironic since boats used to dock here. Above me was the huge Benjamin Franklin

It didn t seem like these steps were actually steps at all. A class of middle school
students were sitting there listening to their teacher who stood at the bottom. I
figured that these steps were actually seating for entertainment like bleachers at a
sports game. A path of gray pavers, the same material as the lower portion of the
pier, went through the middle of the whole pier connecting the upper level with the
lower level. This path gave a view of everything. Once at the bottom, I saw patches
of grass and lots of benches. Some joggers crossed my path several times along
with the occasional golf cart with a security personnel roaming the pier. From the
bottom level of the pier, the view was of another Municipal Pier. This pier was still
in its original form unlike Race Street Pier. The Race Street Pier seemed to mix the
old with the new in a single space. Several parts of the pier seemed to include
reused metals from the prior building, and towards the entrance of the lower level
pier is a big square void that allows you to take a look at what is holding up the
pier. Overall, the sound of the water under the pier, the gusting winds, and the smell
of the trees and flowers makes the pier an ideal place to relax. Although, the pier
was not very occupied at the time that I went to observe it, I have no doubts that this
place attracts a lot of attention. Context Race Street Pier was originally constructed
in 1901 by the city for cargo ships and recreation

Throughout my time interning for Wayne County Economic Development
Corporation I spent many of my opening hours in a office doing research,
analyzing data, writing memos, creating the entire system of how the corporation
organizes and shares information, along with sitting in on meetings ranging from
development of parcels to legal matters. From the beginning my supervisor
continuously stated that this is a learning process and that he had hired all three
interns to instill and familiarize us to what world is like outside of school
classrooms and the library. After a few weeks on getting to individually know each
intern I was selected for a special work load that only I would be sanctioned to work

Essay about Brief Summary of the Movie Chocolat
Vianne wanders a lot with her daughter. She never lived in a place longer than 2
years. She has been in many different countries and speaks good French as well as
English. This time they arrive in a very small town in France, between Toulouse and
Bordeaux.
They are not welcome in the village. The residents don t like strangers. Especially the
Priest. When Vianne opens a chocolaterie on Ash Wednesday, he is very mad and
he decides to do anything in his power to get rid of her. He is very persuasive in the
church and tells his people they have to look out for Vianne, for she is no good with
her chocolate and spells .
In spite of all this criticism Vianne does good business. She soon makes friends with

Vianne likes him, but she thinks Josephine and Roux like each other. She s wrong
and later in the book they sleep with each other.
Than Armande says she wants to have a big party for her birthday and she asks
Vianne to help her with the preparations. She also tells Vianne that it s going to be
a farewell party; because she doesn t want to live like this anymore (she s old and
has diabetes). Vianne takes care of all the food and it s a wonderful party, the river
people and the people from the villages get along with each other fine, which makes
Armande very happy. The next morning she dies.
The priest is angry with Vianne because she s going to have a big chocolate
festival on Easter Sunday. He tries to anticipate her. In the middle of the night he
sneaks in to Vianne s chocolaterie. He wants to destroy all the chocolate she made
for the festival, but he can not find the supply. When he sees the shop window he
can not control himself anymore and begins to eat from the chocolates. The next
morning he wakes up and Vianne and all the inhabitants are looking at him. He ate
so much chocolate that he fell asleep in the shop. He is very ashamed by his actions
and flees from the village.
The chocolate festival is a big success and for the first time Vianne is probably going
to stay in the village. She doesn t want to wander anymore and Anouk wants to stay

Forecasting the Future Female Veteran Population and Their Increased Use of the VA
Medical System
The use of the Veterans Affairs medical care system has significantly increased over
the last decade due to two recent wars and an aging Vietnam Veteranpopulation. As
females have been accepted in all roles into the military, their population within the
military has progressively multiplied over the last three decades. Since females in
general typically use healthcare at a higher rate than their male counterparts, it is
necessary to ascertain if the female veteran ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This data also specifies how many veterans are in each specific age group as well
as identifies how many veterans in each age group are either male or female. The
second set of data helps to organize the first and subsequent sets of data in order to
determine the number of current female veterans that use VA health services as
well as what percentage within in each age group uses VA health services. The
third and last set of data points specifies the current number of military personnel
and identifies those personnel by age group and gender. The second set of data
provided the total number of female veterans that currently use the VA for medical
care. Additionally this second set of data provides the percentages of each age
group that use the VA. This second set of data provided the needed information to
make calculations along with the first set of data in order to compare the percentage
of each age group from the total number against each percentage from the age groups
of those who use the VA. A graph visually presenting these numbers can be found

The program focused specifically on neighborhoods and households. The case
study from Portland, Oregon was on the city level where reducing and
disconnecting paved surfaces took place from 1993 2001 and the city paid
homeowners $53 for each downspout they disconnected themselves, or they
offered to provide the service to households for free through volunteer groups.
Downspouts need to be replaced approximately ten years installation and
maintenance is minimal besides ensuring the drainage area is functioning properly
and not eroding as well as making sure the spouts are clear of debris, holes, etc.
The total cost of the program was $13 million, and 56,000 downspouts were
disconnected, which remove a total of 1.3 billion gallons of stormwater from their
combined sewer system each year. Permeable pavements . The case studies for
permeable pavements were from a website/organization called Low Impact

gravel pavers, and $5.00 to $10.00 for interlocking concrete paving blocks

well so over time the infiltration rate will decrease so debris will need to be cleared
by sweeping or vacuuming. As long as there is a reservoir that the water can flow to, it
Comparison Of Actus Rea, Causation And Punishment
Actus Reus, Mens Rea, Causation and Punishment are all considered elements of a
crime. Actus reus or also known as the Guilty act , is the external physical part of a
crime. In other words actus rea refers to intentional criminal conduct or criminal
negligence (Powerpoint). It is not only about what a person does but also about what
they do not do. It is committing a voluntary act which ultimately causes harm to
others.
Other then Actus Reus, Mens rea refers to the mental aspect of crime, it even
translates to „ Guilty Mind .Mens rea states that a person is not necessarily guilty
unless their minds are guilty as well.
Causation means that „In order for a crime to be a legal crime, there must be a

In order for an act or behavior to be considered a crime there has to follow
punishment or the threat of punishment.
Status offense refers to an act that is illegal for a teenager/ juvenile but would not
be considered a crime if committed by an adult (Powerpoint). The most common
example of this is the possession of alcohol/intoxication or tobacco products for
anyone under the legal age requirement. More example would include running away
from home or school, as well as violating curfews such as on a probationary licensee.
The twinkie defense started with the case of Dan White. He was a retired police
officer and firefighter in san francisco before becoming a well known politician.
Due to depression Dan white resigned form his job in november 1978, however he
changed his mind just a day later. When coming to the realization that he would not
get his job back he decided to arm himself and make his way to the city hall. He
shot the mayor four times and then continued on to his supervisor, Mr. Milk, who he
shot five times. His defense was that he suffered from diminished capacity as a result
of his depression. He blamed the depression for eating sugary foods such as twinkies
and having an unhealthy diet. However Whits Defense never claimed that this
unhealthy diet was the cause, but instead that is was one of the symptoms he
experienced proving that he had depression. Dan White was only sentenced to 7 years
in prison due to manslaughter.

Have you been feeling your one true love will never appear? Are you reading
relationship books which list from A Z how to find your love match?
So many of us are searching for our one true love... the story book romance, but are
not really understanding a few important factors. Whether you believe this or not, the
Law of Attraction is real. This law extends to anything and everything in your life.
You might be asking yourself how do I start this?
The number one key to finding true love naturally is to love yourself first. If you
love yourself unconditionally you will attract someone who truly loves you. Instead
of spending time searching for him/her, spend time on yourself. Heal your old
wounds and release past relationship pains and forgive yourself and others who have
caused you pain. Nothing in your life is a mistake as everything happens for a reason.
While you are spending time alone and connecting to a higher source through
relaxation or mediation it is also imperative to change your thought process. Your

McDonald’s vs. Burger King Essay
Unlimited, endless, fast food choices, and yet there are two that stand out above
the rest. McDonald s and Burger King are the two biggest burger fast food chains
in the world. So let me ask you this, who has a better menu? Who s Cheaper? And
which one is healthier? This debate will once and for all come to an end, once all of
these points have been met throughout my paper. McDonald s vs. Burger Kinghas
been a long running argument. You will finally come to realize that McDonald s is
the better choice for you. When you think of McDonald s or Burger King you
probably think of the Big Macand the Whopperbecause they are their most famous
sandwiches. Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a

McDonald s and Burger King both offer kids meals, but McDonald s however has
more appealing options. These options range from food and drink items, to the
packaging they come in. Many times McDonald s relates their toys to the latest
big movie or a popular television show (DePietro, 2010). This could vary
depending on the restaurants location. Burger King has 11,100 locations
worldwide where McDonald s has over 30,000 locations (Brantley, 2007). Because
there are so many Burger King s and McDonald s around the world, the toys are
sure to vary depending on the most popular movie and television show out in that
country. Although there is one thing that really separates these two kids meals
from each other, and that s the price. A Burger King Kids meal can cost as high as
$5.00 depending on your location. Whereas the McDonald s happy meal will cost
you up to $3.00. Cost is really one of the biggest differences between these two
franchises. Aside from both places offering the dollar menu, their overall pricing
on other items, is very different. A McDonald s value meal can cost up to $4.00,
whereas Burger King s value meals can cost up to $6.00! Saving a few bucks by
going to McDonald s sounds a lot better than spending unnecessary amounts of
money at Burger King. Just by looking at the sales difference between the two, you
can see that people would agree. In 2009, Burger King s profit dropped 10% in its
second quarter, while McDonald s sales grew a solid
Evaluation Research Questions On School Truancy
Evaluation Research Questions There were three expected outcomes / hypothesis as a
result of PARC program participation. First, hypothesis number one suggested that the
activities of the PARC program (IV) will decrease school truancy significantly (DV)
for individuals that participate in the program. Hypothesis number two suggested that
as a result of the decrease in school truancy, student s academic grades will improve.
In other words, the PARC program (IV) would help to improve student s grades (DV).
Finally, the third hypothesis suggested that the independent variable, PARC, will
increase student engagement in school (LV) for the individuals that participate in the
program. The findings of this research will further enlighten the facilitators of PARC
as to whether or not the program is truly effective in the areas of student engagement,
truancy, and academic improvement. The bias among facilitators already exists that
the program is effective. However, with this program evaluation, facilitators will have
the proof that they need to further develop the program in the school. For example,
one drawback of the program is that it only serves approximately five ten students at a
time. This program evaluation aims to show that PARC could accept more student
participants. Perhaps the results will convince the facilitators to expand the program
to more students through the use of additional school staff members. Furthermore,
the results of the aforementioned
Disunity Of The Labour Party Essay
the conservatives dominated in the years 1951 to 1964 partly as a result of the
disunity of the Labour party at this time, but also as a result of the strength of their
leadership amongst other advantages that the Conservative party had over Labour
at this time. For example, the peacetime economic boom that they were able to
take advantage of. The Labour disunity also had knock effects like Labour being
unable to take advantage of the Suez crisis. One way in which the disunity of
labour helped the conservatives to remain dominant in these years was how the
ideological and personal splits between Bevan and Gaitskell created an extremely
divided party with deep rifts within it. These splits were mainly ideological as Bevan
was more left wing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macmillan can also be seen as a strong leader by the way that he was viewed,
earning the nickname supermac . He undoubtably had popularity and support from
the public partly due to his unflappable nature. admittedly towards then end of his
prime ministership he became less popular due to the rise of satire and political
scandals such as the Profumo affair. Nevertheless, this still shows how their
dominance can also be put down to the party s strong leadership in being able to
take advantage of an incredibly disunited Labour. Another way in which they were
able to do this was by creating a united conservative front bench. This can be seen
by any disagreements between cabinet members were never made public.
Therefore, as a result of this the conservatives were able to gain more support from
the public due to the fact that they were offering a united party whereas Labour was
not. It can also be argued that their leadership was also able to judge the mood of the
country in this period. This is as after Attlee s government Churchill captured the
mood of the country, which was that the public wanted more freedom as is seen by
the film from this era passport to

Kingston In The Woman Warrior
Kingston, or the narrator, happens to be the most imaginative, curious, and
conflicted character in The Woman Warrior. She may be the only character who
knows what she wants and needs in life in order to be satisfied with her own life.
Everyone else in her family keeps the never ending tradition going to not disappoint
their elders. They all have misery that would have been resolved if they had done
what made them happy. Temptation indulges in the urges that are not necessarily
meant to be addressed. Kingston indulges in her mother s disapproval of how to live
her life in order to show that happiness can empower the traditions and stereotypes of
women in life. The greater good of Kingston s message proves that although it may
seem impossible
Compare And Contrast Hardin And Swift
Garrett Hardin and Jonathan Swift have different views on helping the poor.
Although they grew up in different centuries, Hardin is against and Swift is for
helping the poor. People are going to continue to be poor if they depend on
someone else to help them. The ones living in poverty have the potential to do great
things if they put forth the effort. Hardin and Swift s opinions differ on whether or
not it is the peoples fault for being poor, the limited resources toward helping the
poor and if it is too late to help them.
When a country is poor the people blame others for their poverty. Hardin believes
that the poor are lazy and they rely on government assistance. The poor has the
ability to get a job, but they do not put effort into searching for one. On the other
hand, Swift blames the politicians and English for their poverty in Ireland. Swift
thinks that it isn t the poor s fault and if they could get a job, they would.

Hardin states an example, a nation s land has a limited capacity to support a
population and as the current energy crisis has shown us, in some ways we have
already exceeded the carrying capacity of our land .(Hardin 169) It is believed by
Hardin that there is limited resources and if we helped the poor it would be
ineffective. In contrast, Swift thinks that limited resources are not an issue. In Swift s
A Modest Proposal , he says that the children, who are of poor decent, use them as
income for the poor and the children will be a commodity for the rich. Swift did not
literally mean for this to happen but that the proposal to sell the children was absurd
and the rich would do it
Meals Tax For Public Schools
Meals Tax On November 8th, voters will be asked to vote for or against the Meals
Tax. This meals tax would be imposed on prepared foods and restaurant meals. The
Meals Tax was proposed by Fairfax County. The reason for this Meals Tax is to fund
public schools and county services. The seventy percent will go to Fairfax County
Public Schools. Also, the thirty percent will go towards capital improvements, county
services and property taxrelief. It would impose a four percent tax on top of the
existing six percent sales tax. The Meals Tax will support Fairfax County children
and help protect the quality of life for all. The Meals Tax would predictably harm
more of low middle class families. In these tough economic times, this tax will be
no help and it will hurt people. There are many questions to the Meals Tax. What is
Meals Tax? The definition of this tax is taxes incurred in addition to a state s sales
tax on the purchase of prepared foods that are eaten in restaurant or to go. The
media said that Meals Tax would be up to four percent. The actual range is various
from between 0.5 percent to as high as 5.5 percent. There are other cities that charge
a tax. Cities like Miami, Virginia Beach, Dever, Milwaukee, Boston, and Washington
D.C. Chicago has high combined tax of ten point seventy five percent. There are lot
of concerns to this issue. Why is the government imposing this tax and proposing to
the community? Why are people against this tax? People are against it
Difference Between Foucault And Gramsci
Usually, power is understood as the capacity of an agent to impose his will over
the will of the powerless as well as the ability to force that are powerless to do
things they do not want to do or wish to do. In that way it can be said that power is
understood as possession or as something owned by those in power. As power is
theorized in many different ways by great thinkers such as Michael Foucault and
Antonio Gramsci, this essay will look at how Gramsci s conception of power is
different from and/or complementary to Foucault s conception of power. It will
show as to whether there is space for resistance in either of their notions of power as
well as how they help us understand South Africa or not. It will also use different
examples together... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Foucault power is positive in the sense that it maintains discipline in the
society as we have to cooperate and obey the rules and power also ensures that we
do things however it is negative in the sense that it deters us from doing
something. For example, if a person murders someone, they know that they will be
arrested because it is declared as a crime. As power lies in civil society for
Gramsci; civil society allows participation whereby people know their rights
however though it allows participation hegemonic ideology presents interests of
dominant class as the interest of all (Gramsci, 1977, 181). An example in this case
can be that of we elect the government which is to say that we have a say on which
government should rule us however it is for the interests of the government as
through us it is able to maintain capitalism from the labour that we
Slave Codes In The Slave
Most slaves could not read or write, and they were not allowed to be taught how to
read or write, therefore they found ways to communicate with each other in
different forms that their owners would not be able to understand. Sometimes
codes were created by whites who were helping the slaves and the slaves who had
already escaped. Some examples of communication, also known as codes, are songs,
quilts, dancing, and drums. Songs were used in everyday life by African slaves. The
slaves called these songs negro spirituals. People such as Harriet Tubmanand others
used songs as a means for communication amongst each other in their fight to gain
freedom. Many slaves knew the secret meanings of words from the negro
spirituals, so they could be used to signal many things. For example, Harriet
Tubman used the song Wade in the Water to tell slaves who were trying to escape
to get off the trail and go into the water. This made sure that the dogs slavecatchers
couldn t sniff out their trail. Other slaves used songs as signals. For example, the
Virginia slave Nat Turner, who organized a revolt against slave owners, used the
song Steal Away as a signal to call people together to talk about their plans ( Joe
Carter and the Legacy of African American Spirituals. ) The Underground Railroadis
a huge example of where slaves used codes to communicate. They used codes like
bundles of woods, drinking gourd, and load of potatoes, (Underground Railroad

Concrete Filled Tubular ( Cft ) Column
The steel tube in a concrete filled tubular (CFT) column acts as both lateral and
longitudinal reinforcement, and is thus subjected to hoop tension and biaxial stresses
of longitudinal compression. At the same time, concrete is tri axially stressed.
Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column has become popular as structural member in
buildings due to their excellent performance for structural characteristics, which
include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The advantages of the Concrete
filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the filled in
concrete prolongs local bucklingof the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides
formwork for the concrete, the tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and
composite columns add more stiffness to a frame compared to old style steel frame
construction. According to past study on the concentric compression behavior of
Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial strength of Concrete filled
tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel tube and the
shape of its cross section Although confining effect in square columns show a small
increase in axial strength due to triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses.
On the other hand, the axial load and deformationbehavior of columns is remarkably
affected by the cross sectional shape, diameter/width to thickness ratio (D/t) of the
steel tube, and the strength of the filled concrete.

between the character traits, selflessness and selfishness, and helping behavior. Thus,
we expect to see a significant positive correlation coefficient indicating there is a
relationship between the character trait, selflessness and helping behavior. We
believe there will be a relationship between these two variables because customarily

questions and predictor questions that were categorical or continuous. Data from the
third continuous outcome question which prompted a participant about their
willingness to help someone who was being discriminated against, was used to

Participants could choose values ranging from 1 to 9 indicating which character trait
they most closely identify with; 1 being extremely selfless and 9 being extremely

The Relationship Between King Charles I And The
Parliament
Build up to war
The relationship between King Charles I and the Parliament became more and more
tense. Within the Parliament, factions were created between the ones who supported
the King, and the ones who wanted a better and larger reform.
King Charles entered the House of Commons with armed soldiers in January 1642.
His intention was to arrest five Members of Parliament, but the ones he was planning
to arrest had been tipped off beforehand so they were not present. In March the same
year, the Parliament passed the Militia Ordinance that gave the Parliament control of
the local military forces. As a response, the King started to gather his own Royalist
army. Both Royalists and Parliamentarians raided stores in order to get weapons and
ammunition. Most of the large towns and cities stated who they supported, the King
or the Parliament.
On August 22 in 1642, King Charles I raised the Royal Standard at Nottingham, and
by that he had officially declared war against the Parliament.
The result of the war
The civil war resulted in a parliamentary victory for Oliver Cromwell. Cromwell was
the only non royal person to ever hold the position as Lord Protector of England. He
also played an important role in leading Charles I to trial and, to execution by
beheading in 1649. Cromwell attempted the most vicious military conquest ever
committed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several of the initial actions of the Civil War revolved around taking county
armouries to get a hold of weapons. King Charles I disarmed the Trained Bands in
Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire to use their weapons to arm
volunteer soldiers and troops. After a short while, both sides started to prefer using
volunteer soldiers. When the interest and the devotion for the war started to drop,
they started to use impressment, which means to force someone into a military or

Comparing Emerson And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson says There is a time in every man s education when he
arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide. This
quote is immensely true you should always be true to yourself and you shouldn t
envy people you don t really know that much about. You should stay true to
yourself because if you want to imitate someone who are killing yourself
figuratively. How is your inner self alive if you don t display it no one knows who
you really are so your soul is dead to others. They would just see that you are like
everyone else or like someone else in particular and then you will be compared to
the other person which isn t what people usually want. If someone were to
compare you to someone and you are just off there in the corner hearing this and
they are saying blah blah he s/she s exactly like so and so and you are just like no I
m me , but you have no proof because what they are saying is true. Your inner self
would never be known to people if you like to hide away and just do what it is
popular they we ll see you as just no one special and everyone wants to have
something different about them that s what makes people awesome there is not two
of the same exact people, so why would you want to strive to be exactly like another

School Choice Policies Affect Individual Students And...
A rising concern in recent educational policy is whether and how school choice
policies affect individual students and neighborhoods. School choice policies have the
ability to influence where people choose to live, and may influence the prevalence
and rate of gentrification. Gentrification, a term coined by sociologist Ruth Glass
(1964), is characterized by the middle class moving into a working class space, taking
up residence, opening businesses, lobbying for infrastructure improvements, and
consequently uplifting the social status of that neighborhood. Whereas there has
emerged a growing body of research concerning the effects of charter, magnet, and
private schools on the academic success of disadvantaged minorities, not a lot has
been done to investigate the effects of these schools on gentrification patterns. Many
charter schools operate on a lottery system, in which students are chosen randomly if
the number of applicants exceeds the number of spots available. However, some
charter schools give preference to neighborhood residents, and this could affect where
a gentrifying family decides to live. This study aims to understand whether and how
schools that give preference to neighborhood residents affect the surrounding
community and patterns of gentrification. Understanding these trends could be
imperative to future policy changes and could help close the educational gap among
children of varying socioeconomic status. LITERATURE REVIEW Although there

Essay On Cotton Mather
Many people have their own criticisms of Cotton Mather. As Kennedy tells us in
the beginning of his book, The First American Evangelical: A short life of Cotton
Mather, all we need to do is search for Cotton Mather on the internet to find a wide
range of opinions. We easily run into articles or other writings of the hatred out
there for this man, who is very commonly depicted as a villain. Even in one of
Marvel s comics there is an evil villain by the name of Cotton Mather whose
purpose is to hunt witches. However, based on Kennedy s reading we find that
Mather was rather one of America s most famous, influential, and respected pastors
and scholars. By Mather s promotion of inoculation, ideology of witch trials, and
devotion to the lord, he was one of the greatest and most important figures of his
time. It is no secret that Mather was an important player in the Salemwitchcrafttrials.
It is also true that Mather had vigorous support for the trial and had conducted and
recorded many trials on the witches, such has having them read from the bible
(Kennedy 45). However, Mather was also an important player in ending the trials by
cautioning the judges against the use of spectre evidence, or by allowing claims of
invisible ghosts to be used as evidence(Kennedy ix). In addition to this, Mather had a
solution to the witchcraft trials before they even... Show more content on

Mather challenged the idea that inoculation was against the will of God and Puritan
principles. He claimed that no one had ever died from inoculation and that a large
magnitude has died from being infected. Mather was so strong in his promotion of
inoculation that he had even tried it on his own son. The fact that Mather was such a
strong supporter for these procedures shows how important a leader he was, and also
how important a role he had in starting the new evangelical
The Experience of a Refugee in Casablanca
World War II was a period in which movie s depicted a sense of patriotism from
propaganda to training videos. The Germans invaded Poland and the World fell
into frenzy. Americans, with the help of France, Russia, Great Britain and later on
Italy, crushed the fronts of the Germans and stopped the Nazis from taking control
of the world. With the mess of Japanese forces attacking Pearl Harbor on December
7, 1941 the United States entered World War II. One of the most famous movies to
date came out of the Warner Bros. editor s room. Casablanca emerged out of World
War II and showed a great sense of what it was like to have been a refugee and a
runaway, seeking shelter from the Germans. With World War II going on
Hollywood shoveled out Propaganda by taking films and producing them in ways
to make you feel Patriotic and want to join the war effort. Casablanca was one of
many movies that promoted World War II by showing that the Germans were the
enemies of the world. One example in Casablanca was when Ilsa and Rick left
France because of the German take over; another was that Major Strasser was
portrayed as an enemy against the poor refugees and the Czech and Norwegian
resistance groups in Casablanca. Casablanca portrayed another way to promote
enlistment by showing resistance by the French and how Captain Renault at the end
of the movie backstabbed Major Strasser and joined Rick s side. The movie as a
whole shows the Germans as arrogant and uptight socialists; it degrades

Yahoo Case Study Essay
Almost twenty years ago in 1994, talk show hosts of the Today show were filmed
stumbling over their words attempting to define a new technology called the
internet (Pegoraro, 2011). At the same time, Jerry Yang and David Filo, two
Stanford University graduates who had embraced this new technology, were
working to develop a framework to organize the plethora of websites they had
discovered on the internet ( The history, 2005). This exceptionally organized list of
websites formed the concept behind Yahoo, which soon became one of the most
highly visited sites on the internet (Indu Gupta, 2007). Yahoo did very well in the
first four years, but before long it was clear that the company was in desperate need

Therefore, the customer experience was not seamless with the new services that the
acquisitions brought to the table. For example, Yahoo customers had to separately
log into each service (Indu Gupta, 2007). Furthermore, Yahoo s complex
organizational structure added confusion to their operating procedures and delayed
the company s ability to make vital business decisions. Yahoo lost out on lucrative
opportunities, such as the purchase of YouTube, because they could not make timely
decisions (Indu Gupta, 2007). Employees felt that the management style of the
organization stifled their creative talents (Indu Gupta, 2007). These factors severely
affected Yahoo s performance. Reorganization was crucial for Yahoo to prepare the
company to face fierce competitors like Google. The company took action to address
the factors that were detracting from their performance. To enhance their revenues
Yahoo developed new relationships, took advantage of existing website features, and
implemented a new search marketing program. Yahoo partnered with nationwide
newspapers to magnify their exposure through local advertisements (Welbes, 2006).
Additionally, Yahoo launched Panama a search technology that was to deliver better
targeted advertising with greater impact on Yahoo s bottom line (Holahan, 2006,

Racism Is A Relic Of The Past
In recent years the #blacklivesmatter movement has been effective in bringing
attention to anti black racism in America; however, the commonly held understanding
of racism, in particular how it is executed and its consequenses on the black
community, has not evolved much from the past. News outlets and social media
seems to present a thorough definition of racismand its consequences; racism is a
white police officer beating or shooting a black teen, a white presidential candidate
spewing racial slurs during his campaign or perhaps it looks like a white cooking
show TV host who admits to having used the n word. Media is prepared to bring up
conspicuous prejudice and discrimination every time it occurs; perpetuating the
thought that generally racism is a relic of the past. However, contemporary
manifestations of racism and its effects are much more complex and deep than the
depiction of racism in media suggests. Albeit race relations have amended
significantly since the last century, racism persists as a subtle indoctrination even
within the black community. The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice is a saying
commonly used within the African American community reflecting these
indoctrinations. Although the origin of the phrase is unclear, the saying can be
traced back to the novel The Blacker The Berry: A novel of negro Life written by
Wallace Thurman in 1929. Thurman was one of the first to use the saying as a way
to straightforwardly speak on the issues of colorism
Why Do Neanderthals Exist
Anthropologists of primeval and present times have been tasked to research on the
Neanderthal and find out the exact time that they lived. They argued that the first
humans that had proto Neanderthal traits existed as early as 350,000 600,000 years
ago (Jordan 114). Later they discovered that true Neanderthals appeared between
200,000 and 250,000 years ago. Nevertheless, the exact date during which they
existed has been disputed by many scientists. According to (PaМ€aМ€bo 76), the first
recognized humanfossils were discovered in 1856 a pre historic site a long Neander
Valley in Germany (hence the name Neanderthalman); this creature is suspected to
have a close resemblance to the modern man, differing in their genetic composition by
just 0.12%.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to (Lunine 204), modern humans share one gene (FOXP2) with the
Neanderthals. However, the main difference between Neanderthals and modern
humans is that they had a more robust and idiosyncratic morphological traits,
especially on the cranium. (Lunine, 234). Neanderthals had relatively shorter limbs,
wider barrel shaped rib cage, with reduced chin and relatively longer and enlarged
nose. Unlike the modern man who had reduced ribcage and sizeable nose. They were
more masculine than the modern man with particularly strong arms and hands. If a
physical altercation between a Neandertal and a modern man occurred, the
Neandertal would have the ability to completely physically dominate him.
Additionally, recent research shows that Neanderthals could have had better eyesight
than modern humans owing to the size of their skull and larger eye sockets. They had
a brain capacity of about 1600cm3 which is bigger than the modern humans.
Neanderthals skeletons were much stronger with robust muscles embodied on it, and
the shafts found on both the legs and the arms were highly modified to absorb stress
from bending and twisting without
Howard s Monologue
What a rotten day, Howard thought to himself as the doctors held him in front of
the woman, wrapping him in a blanket. Out of all the possible choices, I m named
Howard. The woman grabbed him from the doctors and hugged him tightly. Well,
he thought uncertainly, At least I have a mother that loves me. As he grew up,
Howard s mother did love him. But he never did get over having been named
Howard. Take, for example, the second grade. He had been a fine young boy...
Huh? You can t see the flashback? Well let me just type the memory instead. The
teacher, aptly named Mrs. Magicfish, greeted all the students warmly on the first day
of school. Howard was merely seven years old back then, and in a fit of pure joy at
being back at school (the boy had serious issues), he yelled at Mrs. Magicfish, Hi, old
lady! I m seven years old! The teacher, ever kind, smiled and asked, What is your
namelittle child? Howard s face instantly fell. This was the moment he had been
fearing for the past seven years. When he would finally have to tell his second
grade teacher that his name is Howard. Well I m not going to do it, he thought to
himself resolutely, I ll make up a new name! Mrs. Magicfish waited patiently for
several minutes as the gears in Howard s brains turned. Finally he came up with a
name, and he instantly yelled it out; Penelope! ... Show more content on

One thing we take from this ecosystem that is common is fishes according to an
article titled Human Impacts on Marine Environments it states Humans living near
the coast have probably always used the ocean as a source of food. However, with
advances in fishing equipment, larger ships and new tracking technologies, many fish

We add pollution to the water which is something else affecting our water or aquatic

Rhetorical Analysis Of Donald Trump s Political Cartoon
All people make mistakes, but some people are never allowed to forget theirs. A
man attacked, harassed, and belittled by media outlets with a personal vendetta
against him for his prior claims that they broadcast fake news. This is the image of
Donald J. Trump portrayed by my political cartoon for part two of my genre remix.
Based off of my project two analysis of the effectiveness of Donald Trumps rhetoric
in his 2016 Phoenix campaign speech based on Lloyd Bitzer s model of the
rhetorical situation, my political cartoon focuses on the same man, but an entirely
new exigence and audience, with a new load of constraints.
Before it can be analyzed effectively, the political cartoon must be described. The
cartoon itself is rather simple. Donald ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number one constraint present in the actual creation of this project is my own
artistic abilities. I am not an artist, I do not and cannot draw. Clearly, this can make
creating a political cartoon difficult. When I first tried to free draw Donald Trump,
what I created more resembled an angry bean with a face and Donald Trump hair.
My solution, which was to trace an online image, posed yet another constraint. When
one googles cartoon images of Donald Trump, most of what pulls up is disrespectful
and borderline grotesque. Despite what people may say or feel, Donald Trump is still
our president and deserves respect as such. Another constraint came not from the
creation of the remix, but from the very genre of the remix itself. Political cartoons,
though rather simple, do require some degree of thought to understand. If someone
was to simply glance at the cartoon and not think about it, they might miss the
message behind it. Similarly, political cartoons are often up to personal interpretation
and someone might interpret the message the wrong

I realised that mine might not be as exciting or eventful as theirs but I considered that
my placement might be a more useful experience for later life.
My mother is friendly with quite a lot of people who work at BUPA. She spoke to
quite a close friend of hers who answers to my supervisor and was told that she is a
great lady and I would have a lot of fun with her. My mother was also told that there
could be a chance of a part time job after school and on Saturdays. This inspired me
to work really hard for them in order try to impress everyone.
I had not done any research into the company apart from a brief look at their web
site but I felt that I knew sufficient information for a preliminary interview. I hoped
to learn some very important life skills and gain some great experience, which would
be of use to me in later life. I was hoping to gain work on computer skills, as I feel I
am competent in this area and could impress if I were to be given the chance. As I
did not know a great deal about marketing I was keen to gain as much knowledge as
possible and hospital marketing is a field of its own.
On the whole I looked forward to the week it would be a good experience that should
teach me some useful skills.

Special Interest Club Case Study
Introduction Tired of the same old thing in your life? Are you ready to for
something new? Whether it is personally, in a group, or in a club, we sometimes
get stuck in a rut and are bored with the dull repetitiveness. Today, challenge
yourself and your group to try something new. This topic is a map to identify a
project or to create a special interest club. The surprise comes when we enjoy what we
previously were hesitant to try! Why choose a club project? To maintain current
membership and recruit new members, WVCEOS must seek new audiences with
diversity in gender, age, and recognize needs of various generations, such as baby
boomers and generations X and Y. Since 2001, West Virginia Community Educational
Outreach Service (WVCEOS) membership has lost more than 6,000 members. Even

The Principles Of The Company Law, The Uk Cape
Industries...
The Salomon principle dictates that if the company is established in accordance with
the requirements of the Companies Act 2006, it starts to operate as a separate legal
entity. The corporate veil becomes the dividing line between this entity and its
shareholders. However, it soon became obvious that this concept can be easily
abused, therefore Courts fought hard in order to establish exceptions to the Salomon
principle in the form of lifting or piercing the veil, allowing them to look behind the
curtain if they spot some irregularity. In order to justify these drastic measures,
Courts would look for something substantive, such as an agency relationship, fraud,
avoidance of obligations, or group piercing grounds. In order to determine... Show

As described by Professor Gower, once the company is registered, the corporate
veil comes down between the existing company and the shareholders, protecting
them from any potential liability. Soon it became apparent that the companies
could be easily abused and used for improper purposes. As a response to these
developments, Court would use the concepts of lifting and piercing of the veil in
order to go behind the veil and attach an appropriate liability to those who were
behind it. Lifting of the veil was seen as the least drastic option, as the Court
would look behind to see if there is some impropriety, and put the veil down, still
recognising the company as a separate legal entity. Whereas piercing would
involve tearing up the veil, completely disregarding company as a separate entity
and looking at it as an agent for another. The process is very ad hoc, and therefore
based on the discretion of the Courts. In order to persuade the Court to look behind
the corporate veil, the grounds must be substantive. One of the established
exceptions justified by the Court in order to lift the veil is when the evidence
shows that the company is being used as a device for avoidance of existing
obligations. The good examples of this exception would be the cases of Guildford

Poland s Revoked Voting Rights in the European Union The end of the Second
World War created an era of peace for some countries, but for those under the control
of the Soviet Union, life became extremely difficult both socially and politically.
Poland was under the direct authority of the USSR and was subjugated to live with
an authoritarian government, whom did not allow political opposition and freedom.
Decades passed until the USSR collapsed and even then Poland faced rigged
elections and remained under a regime that denied political change. The late twentieth
century spurred on opportunity for Poland when the first free election initiated an era
of democracy in politics and the promotion of ... Show more content on

This hazard came after the government of Poland had reorganized the voting
requirements of the Constitutional Court and altered the structure of the nation s
media outlets. The majority ruling party within Poland, the Law and Justice Party,
also raised moral questions among other EU member states by establishing new
government appointed leaders to the public television and broadcasting agencies.
This new change in judicial processes and media control has led many members of
the European Union to question both the democracy and corruption within the Polish
government and to determine if the new policies have infringed on the EU s values
and morals. Therefore, these recent political fluctuations have lead me to ask what
powers does the EU have to influence a member countries media and court
institutions, why has the EU become worried about Poland, and in which ways will
the EU attempt to sanction Poland for their alterations? This research paper will
elaborate on Poland s recent political changes. It will then analyze how Poland s
changes have raised controversy with the European Union and why the EU was
concerned. Lastly, the research will demonstrate which institutions in the EU have
jurisdiction over such a conflict, and how the European Union will attempt to nullify
Poland s voting rights within the EU.

Analysis Of The Book I Am
At the beginning of the novel, I am immediately implanted a general impression of
McTeague, a clumsily single minded giant, who operates his own dental practice
and goes about his daily routine with satisfaction: he would sit at the bay window
(1) reading the paper (1) and [gorging] with steam beer (1) and even play regularly
on his concertina. Moving his immense limbs (2) slowly and ponderously,
McTeague looks like a draught horse, immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient
(3). Worse than that, his mind was as his body, heavy, slow to act, sluggish (2). But
thanks to his barbaric mind, he is not saddened by his terrible appearance; instead
he feels that his life is quite a success with the dental practice guaranteeing him a
stable income, that he could hope for nothing better (3). He is never fed up with
his repetitive days, and the only enjoyment in his tedious life probably is to
appreciate the panorama of the urban street from his bay window, where the world
goes past (6). No matter the various shops or people from all walks of life, from
seven o clock in the morning to eleven in the evening, never fail to interest him.
Besides that, the other way that could connect McTeague with the outside world is
Marcus. Unlike his friend, McTeague is introversive and indifferent to the society and
neighborhood, knowing nothing except for his routine. Therefore, he is frequently
bewildered by Marcus while listening to his political tirade with admiration; but he

Social Class System
Social class system has survived in the UK due to its flexibility, it has never been
swept away (James, 2009). The most common classification of the social hierarchy
is the division between upper, middle, and lower classes. In the UK, there are some
different social grade classifications. The National Readership Survey (NRS) and
the National Statistics Socio economic classification (NS SEC) provided two similar
classifications based on occupation. In 2013, a survey of social classin UK was
published, results of which showed seven new classes: Elite, Established middle class
, Technical middle class, New affluent workers, Traditional working class, Emergent
service sector, Precariat (Savage et al., 2013). There are many determiners which can
be used to judge which class people belong to. In this essay, wealth and education are

Mike and Peter (2013) suggests the upper class largely consists of wealthy families.
According to Rowlingson (2012), the distribution of wealth in Britain is highly
unequal, with the top 10% owning 100 times more than the bottom 10%. In addition,
he points out that wealth differences between different occupational social classes can
be very large. For example, the median total wealth for households in routine
occupations was ВЈ74,000 in 2010, however, it was more than ВЈ450,000 for those in
the top two occupational categories.
Also, according to the survey of social class in UK in 2013 mentioned above, in the
top class called the elite, people have more than ВЈ140,000 in the bank, but in the
lowest class which is called the precariat , people can only earn ВЈ8,000 after tax and
have savings of just ВЈ700 (Smith, 2013). All these data and numbers indicate the
wealth inequality in UK and the wealth gap between the classes, which means that
wealth is an essential condition if you are in the upper
Farming Of Bones Individuality Quotes
In the novel, Farming of Bones, by Edwidge Danticat, the motif of silence is closely
followed throughout the novel. The novel features Amabelle, the protagonist, as she
struggles with surviving through the parsley massacre in the Dominican Republic.
The motif of silence and it s comparison to individuality is represented through
characterization, imagery, and situations the characters go through. Individuality is a
trait prized in many societies, including the society presented in Farming of Bones.
When Sebastien, Amabelle s lover, is speaking his mind in her house, he expresses
the idea that, Silence to him is like sleep, a close second to death (13). The simile of
comparing silence to sleep furthurs the motif of the loss of ones individuality.... Show

One example of this is when Amabelle and enter a town in the Dominican Republic

believes that she: ... could of said the word properly... perejil ... But I didn t get my
chance. Yves and I were shoved down onto our knees. Our jaws were pried open
parsley stuffed into our mouths (193). The angry mob takes away Yves s and
Amabelle s voices, making them be a part of the mass of Haitians they are taught
to despise. The connotation of the word pried in the quote illustrates the theme of
________. The alliteration Danticat uses throughout the quote, such as in the
words shoved, pried, and stuffed creates a tone of coercion and duress. They lose
their individuality and mold to be the silent mass of the undesirables as their
voices leave them by having their mouths stuffed with parsley. After they survive
the mob, they cross the border and Haitian doctors treat them. Amabelle is severely
injured as nuns take care of her and the other injured during the massacre. As a nun
is treating her, she asks, Can you speak? She asked. No. (214). The massacre left
Amabelle to be taken care of with the rest of the mass of Haitians. She no longer has
her individuality to speak for her, and is silent along with the other Haitians. After the
massacre, Amabelle lives with Yves and his mother. They are
Why US Consumers Buy Foreign Goods
For the first time in many years, ordinary people in the US are worrying about the
economic future of the country. The underlying reason for this worry is a
realization that the secret perpetual motion engine of the economy has run short of
what you might call fuel , for want of a better word. Here are the key steps in this
critical cycle in the economic life of the nation: 1. US consumers buy foreign
goods 2. Part of the profit from these sales is invested in additional foreign goods to
be sold to US consumers and the remainder is invested in US financial institutions 3.
The financial institutions lend the dollars to US consumers 4. US consumers buy
foreign goods (that is, we return to step 1) This is a positive feedback loop. If... Show

However, they are extremely controversial. People tend to have extremely strong
opinions about credit cards. On one side, we have those who vehemently criticize
credit cards as the modern evil that has brought financial ruin to so many Americans.
At the other extreme, we have those who see credit cards necessary instruments for
establishing and improving one s credit history and for learning financial restraint (
Credit cards, n.d.). So, which side is correct? Do credit cards spell financial doom
or are they a useful and valuable tool in our society today? In order for us to
honestly answer these questions, we must fully understand the advantages and
disadvantages of credit cards. First, think about some of the possible advantages of
having credit cards. The first thing that comes to my mind is convenience. Credit
cards are so tiny that they can easily fit in your pocket. Also, most places readily
take credit cards these days. And we cannot forget that credit cards can minimize
our need to count money at the cash register or to wait to buy that must have
product until we get our next paycheck. Therefore, it is accurate to say that credit
cards are relatively convenient to carry and use ( Credit cards, n.d., Pros section).
Moreover, credit cards are accepted in quite a number of foreign nations, making
traveling or online purchases a whole lot simpler. Credit cards also give you much

Self Analysis Of Mirror By Sylvia Plath
Introduction The lyric poem Mirror was written in 1961 by the late Sylvia Plath.
This poem was not published until 1971; ten years after it was written. Mirror was
written two years before Plath separated from her husband and shortly after
committing suicide. Mirror speaks freely about women and their obsession with
appearance and aging. In a way Plath used Mirror, in order to portray what she
herself had been dealing with, in a time where she felt the most vulnerable and
insecure as she was getting older. This was a self reflectionpoem from the voice of a
third party; which in this case would be the mirror itself. The Mirror was the main
character that would see many faces, after reading this poem it would seem as if
Plath was using the mirror to criticize women in general for feeling the way they do
about their appearance, when in fact the second stanza focuses on one particular
woman, which is believed to be Plath criticizing herself for the way she felt about her
appearance and aging. The theme of women and their obsession with appearance and
aging is portrayed through the use of various literary devices and no specific rhyme
scheme, however, metaphors, symbolism, and imagery are prominent throughout the
entire poem.

what many compare aging and appearance to but this poem did it in such an
imaginative and beautiful way that the reader didn t realize what pained Sylvia Plath
and what ultimately led to her

management could learn and adapt the Japanese business culture since Top Glove

We Need A Quick Fix Of Caffeine Essay
Ordinarily, in the mornings, some people need a quick fix of caffeine before
dragging themselves to work or school. But one coffee shop in particular has
something unique. Dunn Brothers Coffee roasts all of its beans in store. The
baristas are something else entirely, full of personality, with no lack of sass either.
A casual and cozy store, located in Minneapolis, on 50th and Xerxes Ave., it has
drawn a large customer base over the years. It all started with Ed and Dan Dunn,
who opened their first store in St. Paul. The franchise quickly expanded all over
Minnesota with 17 locations, and even into North Dakota with two locations in
Fargo. City Pages readers even rated Dunn Bros Coffeethe best cup of coffee in the
Twin Cities over ten times. The shops fabulous baristas, and welcoming
environment continue to draw in many customers to this day. Walking into the
shop on a typical day, the second someone opens the door, the smell of roasting
coffee and hot chocolate invades the nose. A crowd of exhausted and sullen faced,
office and retail workers start off the day, looking for something to help them stay
awake to survive the work day. Then comes in the students, who at that point, are
probably late for class, but do not care anymore. Even in the winter the store
becomes warm from the large amount of people waiting in line for their turn to get
fresh brewed coffee or tea from one of the baristas, either Jess or Steve. Possibly
along with one of the many pastries offered,
The Paradox Of Diversity In College Students
College campuses around the world are experiencing the effect of an increasingly
globalized world as representation from multiple racial and ethnic groups grow
within the student population. The paradox of diversity shows that although this
growing diversity is often regarded with a positive light, we are able to observe
frequent conflicts and disagreements that appear to stem from racial and ethnic
differences (Kasl Yorks 2015). The national identities that have cultivated within
ethnic groups allow for the maintenance and spread of culture that enhances a
globalized world, but these national identities also promote the formation of in and
out groups within a demographic that promote stereotypes, biases, and prejudice.
Despite the potential problems present in a diverse population, an emphasis must be
placed on creating a diverse environment for college students because the
educational benefits and social profits of diversity are abundant and align with a
greater goal of higher education to assist in the epistemological development of
students to create well informed citizens capable of interacting in a society with
empathy as well as intellect. Furthermore, college students are at a prime time to be
receptive to diversity and reap a meaningful experience from their interactions with
others from other racial and ethnic background. Therefore, the diversity of a student
population is important to consider if a meaningful experience of higher education is
desired to be
Comparing the Concentrations of Saturated Solutions...
In this lab, lab 4.3 Comparing the Concentrations of Saturated Solutions, we set
out to find and compare the solubilities of two solids in water. In addition, we
tested if solubility is a characteristic property of a solid in a given liquid. This lab
allowed us to test and use a reliable way to measure the solubility of a solid. This
lab can be replicated for any solid with the same procedure, thus it gives us a
method to calculate solubility. The two solids we tested in this experiment were
NaCl (Sodium Chloride) and NaNO3 (Sodium Nitrate). To begin the experiment, we
measured 5cc of water and 5g of NaCl and added them to a test tube. Next, we
stoppered the test tube and shook vigorously for two or three minutes. After we
observed that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Six of the ten sodium chloride groups found the solubility of sodium chloride to be
statistically 36g/100cc of water, with a +3g/100cc margin of error. Three of the four
groups outside this margin of error had solubilities in the forties, 42, 48, 49g/100cc.
These three groups made an experimental error that altered their results and can be
excluded from our analysis of data. Another group was in the low thirties with 30g
/100cc. Yet the beginning masses that compose the solubility equations do differ. For
example, one group found that the mass of their solution was 4.21 grams, but another
recorded a mass of 5.47 grams. When it comes to the mass of the solid (solute) the
former recorded a mass of 1.11 grams, the latter reported a mass of 1.38 grams.
Nonetheless, they came out with the same solubility of 34 grams per 100 cc of
water. Thus we can prove that that solubility is a characteristic property. This is
because every group started with a different mass of solution and solid, but they
concluded with the same solubility (given the +3 gram margin of error and
excluding outliers) or were close. Therefore, solubility is a characteristic property. Of
the eight sodium nitrate groups three of them found statistically, with a +3g margin
of error, 86g/100cc as the solubility of sodium nitrate in water. Another group
calculated the solubility to be 82, which is just below the margin of error. Two of the
eight groups

Foreign Aid Essay. DOC quot;Foreign aid hasnt worked in the past only because not enough ...

  • 1. Foreign Aid Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of foreign aid is a task that requires a nuanced understanding of international relations, economic policies, and global development issues. The complexity of this topic lies in its multifaceted nature, as it involves examining the intricate dynamics between donor nations and recipients, the effectiveness of aid programs, and the ethical considerations surrounding foreign assistance. One of the challenges in writing such an essay is the need to navigate through a vast amount of information and perspectives. Foreign aid encompasses a wide range of subjects, from humanitarian aid in times of crisis to long-term development projects aimed at poverty alleviation. The writer must carefully select and integrate relevant data and scholarly viewpoints to present a well-informed and balanced argument. Moreover, the subject demands a critical analysis of the impact of foreign aid on both donor and recipient nations. Evaluating the success or failure of aid programs requires a deep understanding of economic indicators, social factors, and geopolitical considerations. This complexity adds an extra layer of difficulty to the task, as the writer must grapple with the ambiguity and conflicting opinions surrounding the effectiveness of foreign aid initiatives. Additionally, addressing the ethical dimensions of foreign aid introduces another layer of complexity. Questions about the motivations behind aid, potential dependency issues, and the power dynamics involved in aid relationships require careful consideration. A successful essay on foreign aid must not only present a well-reasoned argument but also acknowledge and engage with the ethical dilemmas inherent in the topic. In conclusion, writing an essay on foreign aid is a challenging endeavor that demands a thorough understanding of global affairs, economic theories, and ethical principles. The writer must navigate through a sea of information, critically analyze diverse perspectives, and present a coherent and well-supported argument. Despite the difficulties, delving into the complexities of foreign aid provides an opportunity to explore the intricacies of international relations and contribute to the ongoing discourse on global development. • 2. Public Space, Race Street Pier Observation For the final Philadelphia Experience report, I decided to observe a public space, Race Street Pier. To get to the pier you can either walk or drive a car there. Since I don t live in the city, I had to drive. Once there, I approached a big black gate that was wide open with the name of the pier on it. Walking from the busy street behind me, I wandered into a tree covered garden with two possible paths to pick from. I chose the one on the left. This path was lined with trees and lights with benches every couple of feet. As I continued walking, I realized that water completely surrounded the rest of the pier. It felt like I was on a boat, which was ironic since boats used to dock here. Above me was the huge Benjamin Franklin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It didn t seem like these steps were actually steps at all. A class of middle school students were sitting there listening to their teacher who stood at the bottom. I figured that these steps were actually seating for entertainment like bleachers at a sports game. A path of gray pavers, the same material as the lower portion of the pier, went through the middle of the whole pier connecting the upper level with the lower level. This path gave a view of everything. Once at the bottom, I saw patches of grass and lots of benches. Some joggers crossed my path several times along with the occasional golf cart with a security personnel roaming the pier. From the bottom level of the pier, the view was of another Municipal Pier. This pier was still in its original form unlike Race Street Pier. The Race Street Pier seemed to mix the old with the new in a single space. Several parts of the pier seemed to include reused metals from the prior building, and towards the entrance of the lower level pier is a big square void that allows you to take a look at what is holding up the pier. Overall, the sound of the water under the pier, the gusting winds, and the smell of the trees and flowers makes the pier an ideal place to relax. Although, the pier was not very occupied at the time that I went to observe it, I have no doubts that this place attracts a lot of attention. Context Race Street Pier was originally constructed in 1901 by the city for cargo ships and recreation

Throughout my time interning for Wayne County Economic Development Corporation I spent many of my opening hours in a office doing research, analyzing data, writing memos, creating the entire system of how the corporation organizes and shares information, along with sitting in on meetings ranging from development of parcels to legal matters. From the beginning my supervisor continuously stated that this is a learning process and that he had hired all three interns to instill and familiarize us to what world is like outside of school classrooms and the library. When coming to the realization that he would not get his job back he decided to arm himself and make his way to the city hall. Many times McDonald s relates their toys to the latest big movie or a popular television show (DePietro, 2010). This could vary depending on the restaurants location. Burger King has 11,100 locations worldwide where McDonald s has over 30,000 locations (Brantley, 2007). Because there are so many Burger King s and McDonald s around the world, the toys are sure to vary depending on the most popular movie and television show out in that country. Although there is one thing that really separates these two kids meals from each other, and that s the price. A Burger King Kids meal can cost as high as $5.00 depending on your location. Whereas the McDonald s happy meal will cost you up to $3.00. Cost is really one of the biggest differences between these two franchises. Aside from both places offering the dollar menu, their overall pricing on other items, is very different. A McDonald s value meal can cost up to $4.00, whereas Burger King s value meals can cost up to $6.00! Saving a few bucks by going to McDonald s sounds a lot better than spending unnecessary amounts of money at Burger King. Just by looking at the sales difference between the two, you can see that people would agree. In 2009, Burger King s profit dropped 10% in its second quarter, while McDonald s sales grew a solid
  • 10. Evaluation Research Questions On School Truancy Evaluation Research Questions There were three expected outcomes / hypothesis as a result of PARC program participation. First, hypothesis number one suggested that the activities of the PARC program (IV) will decrease school truancy significantly (DV) for individuals that participate in the program. Hypothesis number two suggested that as a result of the decrease in school truancy, student s academic grades will improve. In other words, the PARC program (IV) would help to improve student s grades (DV). Finally, the third hypothesis suggested that the independent variable, PARC, will increase student engagement in school (LV) for the individuals that participate in the program. The findings of this research will further enlighten the facilitators of PARC as to whether or not the program is truly effective in the areas of student engagement, truancy, and academic improvement. The bias among facilitators already exists that the program is effective. However, with this program evaluation, facilitators will have the proof that they need to further develop the program in the school. For example, one drawback of the program is that it only serves approximately five ten students at a time. This program evaluation aims to show that PARC could accept more student participants. Perhaps the results will convince the facilitators to expand the program to more students through the use of additional school staff members. Furthermore, the results of the aforementioned
  • 11. Disunity Of The Labour Party Essay the conservatives dominated in the years 1951 to 1964 partly as a result of the disunity of the Labour party at this time, but also as a result of the strength of their leadership amongst other advantages that the Conservative party had over Labour at this time. For example, the peacetime economic boom that they were able to take advantage of. The Labour disunity also had knock effects like Labour being unable to take advantage of the Suez crisis. One way in which the disunity of labour helped the conservatives to remain dominant in these years was how the ideological and personal splits between Bevan and Gaitskell created an extremely divided party with deep rifts within it. These splits were mainly ideological as Bevan was more left wing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He undoubtably had popularity and support from the public partly due to his unflappable nature. admittedly towards then end of his prime ministership he became less popular due to the rise of satire and political scandals such as the Profumo affair. Nevertheless, this still shows how their dominance can also be put down to the party s strong leadership in being able to take advantage of an incredibly disunited Labour. Another way in which they were able to do this was by creating a united conservative front bench. This can be seen by any disagreements between cabinet members were never made public. Therefore, as a result of this the conservatives were able to gain more support from the public due to the fact that they were offering a united party whereas Labour was not. It can also be argued that their leadership was also able to judge the mood of the country in this period. This is as after Attlee s government Churchill captured the mood of the country, which was that the public wanted more freedom as is seen by the film from this era passport to

  • 15. Compare And Contrast Hardin And Swift Garrett Hardin and Jonathan Swift have different views on helping the poor. Although they grew up in different centuries, Hardin is against and Swift is for helping the poor. People are going to continue to be poor if they depend on someone else to help them. The ones living in poverty have the potential to do great things if they put forth the effort. Hardin and Swift s opinions differ on whether or not it is the peoples fault for being poor, the limited resources toward helping the poor and if it is too late to help them. When a country is poor the people blame others for their poverty. Hardin believes that the poor are lazy and they rely on government assistance. The poor has the ability to get a job, but they do not put effort into searching for one. On the other hand, Swift blames the politicians and English for their poverty in Ireland. In contrast, Swift thinks that limited resources are not an issue. In Swift s A Modest Proposal , he says that the children, who are of poor decent, use them as income for the poor and the children will be a commodity for the rich. Swift did not literally mean for this to happen but that the proposal to sell the children was absurd and the rich would do it

  • 17. Difference Between Foucault And Gramsci Usually, power is understood as the capacity of an agent to impose his will over the will of the powerless as well as the ability to force that are powerless to do things they do not want to do or wish to do. In that way it can be said that power is understood as possession or as something owned by those in power. As power is theorized in many different ways by great thinkers such as Michael Foucault and Antonio Gramsci, this essay will look at how Gramsci s conception of power is different from and/or complementary to Foucault s conception of power. It will show as to whether there is space for resistance in either of their notions of power as well as how they help us understand South Africa or not. For Foucault power is positive in the sense that it maintains discipline in the society as we have to cooperate and obey the rules and power also ensures that we do things however it is negative in the sense that it deters us from doing something. As power lies in civil society for Gramsci; civil society allows participation whereby people know their rights however though it allows participation hegemonic ideology presents interests of dominant class as the interest of all (Gramsci, 1977, 181). • 18. Slave Codes In The Slave Most slaves could not read or write, and they were not allowed to be taught how to read or write, therefore they found ways to communicate with each other in different forms that their owners would not be able to understand. Sometimes codes were created by whites who were helping the slaves and the slaves who had already escaped. Some examples of communication, also known as codes, are songs, quilts, dancing, and drums. Songs were used in everyday life by African slaves. The slaves called these songs negro spirituals. People such as Harriet Tubmanand others used songs as a means for communication amongst each other in their fight to gain freedom. Many slaves knew the secret meanings of words from the negro spirituals, so they could be used to signal many things. For example, Harriet Tubman used the song Wade in the Water to tell slaves who were trying to escape to get off the trail and go into the water. This made sure that the dogs slavecatchers couldn t sniff out their trail. Other slaves used songs as signals. For example, the Virginia slave Nat Turner, who organized a revolt against slave owners, used the song Steal Away as a signal to call people together to talk about their plans ( Joe Carter and the Legacy of African American Spirituals. ) The Underground Railroadis a huge example of where slaves used codes to communicate. • 19. Concrete Filled Tubular ( Cft ) Column The steel tube in a concrete filled tubular (CFT) column acts as both lateral and longitudinal reinforcement, and is thus subjected to hoop tension and biaxial stresses of longitudinal compression. At the same time, concrete is tri axially stressed. Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column has become popular as structural member in buildings due to their excellent performance for structural characteristics, which include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The advantages of the Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the filled in concrete prolongs local bucklingof the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides formwork for the concrete, the tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and composite columns add more stiffness to a frame compared to old style steel frame construction. According to past study on the concentric compression behavior of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial strength of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel tube and the shape of its cross section Although confining effect in square columns show a small increase in axial strength due to triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses. On the other hand, the axial load and deformationbehavior of columns is remarkably affected by the cross sectional shape, diameter/width to thickness ratio (D/t) of the steel tube, and the strength of the filled concrete. 1.3 Significance of research

Within the Parliament, factions were created between the ones who supported the King, and the ones who wanted a better and larger reform. King Charles entered the House of Commons with armed soldiers in January 1642. His intention was to arrest five Members of Parliament, but the ones he was planning to arrest had been tipped off beforehand so they were not present. In March the same year, the Parliament passed the Militia Ordinance that gave the Parliament control of the local military forces. As a response, the King started to gather his own Royalist army. Both Royalists and Parliamentarians raided stores in order to get weapons and ammunition. Most of the large towns and cities stated who they supported, the King or the Parliament. On August 22 in 1642, King Charles I raised the Royal Standard at Nottingham, and by that he had officially declared war against the Parliament. The result of the war The civil war resulted in a parliamentary victory for Oliver Cromwell. Cromwell was the only non royal person to ever hold the position as Lord Protector of England. Comparing Emerson And Ralph Waldo Emerson Ralph Waldo Emerson says There is a time in every man s education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide. You should stay true to yourself because if you want to imitate someone who are killing yourself figuratively. How is your inner self alive if you don t display it no one knows who you really are so your soul is dead to others. • 23. School Choice Policies Affect Individual Students And... A rising concern in recent educational policy is whether and how school choice policies affect individual students and neighborhoods. School choice policies have the ability to influence where people choose to live, and may influence the prevalence and rate of gentrification. Gentrification, a term coined by sociologist Ruth Glass (1964), is characterized by the middle class moving into a working class space, taking up residence, opening businesses, lobbying for infrastructure improvements, and consequently uplifting the social status of that neighborhood. Whereas there has emerged a growing body of research concerning the effects of charter, magnet, and private schools on the academic success of disadvantaged minorities, not a lot has been done to investigate the effects of these schools on gentrification patterns. Many charter schools operate on a lottery system, in which students are chosen randomly if the number of applicants exceeds the number of spots available. However, some charter schools give preference to neighborhood residents, and this could affect where a gentrifying family decides to live. This study aims to understand whether and how schools that give preference to neighborhood residents affect the surrounding community and patterns of gentrification. Understanding these trends could be imperative to future policy changes and could help close the educational gap among children of varying socioeconomic status. As Kennedy tells us in the beginning of his book, The First American Evangelical: A short life of Cotton Mather, all we need to do is search for Cotton Mather on the internet to find a wide range of opinions. We easily run into articles or other writings of the hatred out there for this man, who is very commonly depicted as a villain. Even in one of Marvel s comics there is an evil villain by the name of Cotton Mather whose purpose is to hunt witches. However, based on Kennedy s reading we find that Mather was rather one of America s most famous, influential, and respected pastors and scholars. By Mather s promotion of inoculation, ideology of witch trials, and devotion to the lord, he was one of the greatest and most important figures of his time. It is no secret that Mather was an important player in the Salemwitchcrafttrials. It is also true that Mather had vigorous support for the trial and had conducted and recorded many trials on the witches, such has having them read from the bible (Kennedy 45). However, Mather was also an important player in ending the trials by cautioning the judges against the use of spectre evidence, or by allowing claims of invisible ghosts to be used as evidence(Kennedy ix). • 33. Yahoo Case Study Essay Almost twenty years ago in 1994, talk show hosts of the Today show were filmed stumbling over their words attempting to define a new technology called the internet (Pegoraro, 2011). At the same time, Jerry Yang and David Filo, two Stanford University graduates who had embraced this new technology, were working to develop a framework to organize the plethora of websites they had discovered on the internet ( The history, 2005). This exceptionally organized list of websites formed the concept behind Yahoo, which soon became one of the most highly visited sites on the internet (Indu Gupta, 2007). Therefore, the customer experience was not seamless with the new services that the acquisitions brought to the table. For example, Yahoo customers had to separately log into each service (Indu Gupta, 2007). Furthermore, Yahoo s complex organizational structure added confusion to their operating procedures and delayed the company s ability to make vital business decisions. Yahoo lost out on lucrative opportunities, such as the purchase of YouTube, because they could not make timely decisions (Indu Gupta, 2007). Employees felt that the management style of the organization stifled their creative talents (Indu Gupta, 2007). These factors severely affected Yahoo s performance. Reorganization was crucial for Yahoo to prepare the company to face fierce competitors like Google. The company took action to address the factors that were detracting from their performance. To enhance their revenues Yahoo developed new relationships, took advantage of existing website features, and implemented a new search marketing program. Yahoo partnered with nationwide newspapers to magnify their exposure through local advertisements (Welbes, 2006). Additionally, Yahoo launched Panama a search technology that was to deliver better targeted advertising with greater impact on Yahoo s bottom line (Holahan, 2006, para. 2). The company began

Racism Is A Relic Of The Past In recent years the #blacklivesmatter movement has been effective in bringing attention to anti black racism in America; however, the commonly held understanding of racism, in particular how it is executed and its consequenses on the black community, has not evolved much from the past. News outlets and social media seems to present a thorough definition of racismand its consequences; racism is a white police officer beating or shooting a black teen, a white presidential candidate spewing racial slurs during his campaign or perhaps it looks like a white cooking show TV host who admits to having used the n word. Media is prepared to bring up conspicuous prejudice and discrimination every time it occurs; perpetuating the thought that generally racism is a relic of the past. However, contemporary manifestations of racism and its effects are much more complex and deep than the depiction of racism in media suggests. Albeit race relations have amended significantly since the last century, racism persists as a subtle indoctrination even within the black community. The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice is a saying commonly used within the African American community reflecting these indoctrinations. Although the origin of the phrase is unclear, the saying can be traced back to the novel The Blacker The Berry: A novel of negro Life written by Wallace Thurman in 1929. Thurman was one of the first to use the saying as a way to straightforwardly speak on the issues of colorism

They argued that the first humans that had proto Neanderthal traits existed as early as 350,000 600,000 years ago (Jordan 114). Later they discovered that true Neanderthals appeared between 200,000 and 250,000 years ago. Nevertheless, the exact date during which they existed has been disputed by many scientists. According to (PaМ€aМ€bo 76), the first recognized humanfossils were discovered in 1856 a pre historic site a long Neander Valley in Germany (hence the name Neanderthalman); this creature is suspected to have a close resemblance to the modern man, differing in their genetic composition by just 0.12%.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to (Lunine 204), modern humans share one gene (FOXP2) with the Neanderthals. However, the main difference between Neanderthals and modern humans is that they had a more robust and idiosyncratic morphological traits, especially on the cranium. (Lunine, 234). Neanderthals had relatively shorter limbs, wider barrel shaped rib cage, with reduced chin and relatively longer and enlarged nose. Unlike the modern man who had reduced ribcage and sizeable nose. They were more masculine than the modern man with particularly strong arms and hands. If a physical altercation between a Neandertal and a modern man occurred, the Neandertal would have the ability to completely physically dominate him. Additionally, recent research shows that Neanderthals could have had better eyesight than modern humans owing to the size of their skull and larger eye sockets. They had a brain capacity of about 1600cm3 which is bigger than the modern humans. Neanderthals skeletons were much stronger with robust muscles embodied on it, and the shafts found on both the legs and the arms were highly modified to absorb stress from bending and twisting without

My solution, which was to trace an online image, posed yet another constraint. When one googles cartoon images of Donald Trump, most of what pulls up is disrespectful and borderline grotesque. Despite what people may say or feel, Donald Trump is still our president and deserves respect as such. Another constraint came not from the creation of the remix, but from the very genre of the remix itself. Political cartoons, though rather simple, do require some degree of thought to understand. Similarly, political cartoons are often up to personal interpretation and someone might interpret the message the wrong

The Salomon principle dictates that if the company is established in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006, it starts to operate as a separate legal entity. The corporate veil becomes the dividing line between this entity and its shareholders. However, it soon became obvious that this concept can be easily abused, therefore Courts fought hard in order to establish exceptions to the Salomon principle in the form of lifting or piercing the veil, allowing them to look behind the curtain if they spot some irregularity. As described by Professor Gower, once the company is registered, the corporate veil comes down between the existing company and the shareholders, protecting them from any potential liability. Soon it became apparent that the companies could be easily abused and used for improper purposes. As a response to these developments, Court would use the concepts of lifting and piercing of the veil in order to go behind the veil and attach an appropriate liability to those who were behind it. Lifting of the veil was seen as the least drastic option, as the Court would look behind to see if there is some impropriety, and put the veil down, still recognising the company as a separate legal entity. Whereas piercing would involve tearing up the veil, completely disregarding company as a separate entity and looking at it as an agent for another. The process is very ad hoc, and therefore based on the discretion of the Courts. In order to persuade the Court to look behind the corporate veil, the grounds must be substantive. One of the established exceptions justified by the Court in order to lift the veil is when the evidence shows that the company is being used as a device for avoidance of existing obligations. The good examples of this exception would be the cases of Guildford Motors v Home and Jones v Lipman. In Jones v Lipman Russell J ordered specific performance

This new change in judicial processes and media control has led many members of the European Union to question both the democracy and corruption within the Polish government and to determine if the new policies have infringed on the EU s values and morals. But thanks to his barbaric mind, he is not saddened by his terrible appearance; instead he feels that his life is quite a success with the dental practice guaranteeing him a stable income, that he could hope for nothing better (3). He is never fed up with his repetitive days, and the only enjoyment in his tedious life probably is to appreciate the panorama of the urban street from his bay window, where the world goes past (6). No matter the various shops or people from all walks of life, from seven o clock in the morning to eleven in the evening, never fail to interest him. Besides that, the other way that could connect McTeague with the outside world is Marcus. In addition, he points out that wealth differences between different occupational social classes can be very large. For example, the median total wealth for households in routine occupations was ВЈ74,000 in 2010, however, it was more than ВЈ450,000 for those in the top two occupational categories. Also, according to the survey of social class in UK in 2013 mentioned above, in the top class called the elite, people have more than ВЈ140,000 in the bank, but in the lowest class which is called the precariat , people can only earn ВЈ8,000 after tax and have savings of just ВЈ700 (Smith, 2013). • 51. Self Analysis Of Mirror By Sylvia Plath Introduction The lyric poem Mirror was written in 1961 by the late Sylvia Plath. This poem was not published until 1971; ten years after it was written. Mirror was written two years before Plath separated from her husband and shortly after committing suicide. Mirror speaks freely about women and their obsession with appearance and aging. In a way Plath used Mirror, in order to portray what she herself had been dealing with, in a time where she felt the most vulnerable and insecure as she was getting older. This was a self reflectionpoem from the voice of a third party; which in this case would be the mirror itself. The Mirror was the main character that would see many faces, after reading this poem it would seem as if Plath was using the mirror to criticize women in general for feeling the way they do about their appearance, when in fact the second stanza focuses on one particular woman, which is believed to be Plath criticizing herself for the way she felt about her appearance and aging. The theme of women and their obsession with appearance and aging is portrayed through the use of various literary devices and no specific rhyme scheme, however, metaphors, symbolism, and imagery are prominent throughout the entire poem. Review of the Literature There are many interpretations to Plath s famous poem Mirror, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mirror was used to help the reader reflect on what they were going through by accounting the experiences of Plath. With time a woman who was once a young child started becoming a worn old woman, who was compared to an ugly fish in the poem. The use of metaphors, symbolism, and imagery brought all those aspects of what many compare aging and appearance to but this poem did it in such an imaginative and beautiful way that the reader didn t realize what pained Sylvia Plath and what ultimately led to her
  • 52. Case Study Of Top Glove ST Strategies Make overall costs lower. Eastern Press Sdn Bhd, a main supplier of materials packaging for the group s operations in Malaysia was acquiring by Top Glove Corp Bhd, for RM46.25 million in cash. The transaction is enable Top Glove to enhance its supply chain coordination, allowing for flexible planning and better lead time, in relation to the supply of packaging material for its glove products, as well as better cost and quality control. (Mahpar, 2017). Strengthen goods and services design. Top Glove s gloves are secure to lives and the price are lower than other glove brands. While they manufacture the gloves, the gloves will test in the elongation or stretching test, to measure the strengths of the gloves. During extended surgeries, ... First, though the joint venture with others firm. The resources, technology, management and culture is share in between the organization to achieve the same goals. For example, Top Glove management could learn and adapt the Japanese business culture since Top Glove and Fimatec had joint venture. Both company management able to exchange the culture and practice that improve both management performance. So the weakness of management problem could be minimize since the management is improving through the venture. Besides that, opportunity for joint venture in between the international company could to gain the business model and image of company. These action could be attracting for those professional who seeking the job applicants. Lastly is the problem of heavily invest in R D. The cost for Top Glove spend in R D function is very high in each year. So, Top Glove need to conduct diversification in different market to gain profit. R D function could help to invent new product or service, but still Top Glove need to fit in different market to increase the profit. So the diversify in different market could help Top Glove to increase profit to cover the heavy cost in R D
  • 53. We Need A Quick Fix Of Caffeine Essay Ordinarily, in the mornings, some people need a quick fix of caffeine before dragging themselves to work or school. But one coffee shop in particular has something unique. Dunn Brothers Coffee roasts all of its beans in store. The baristas are something else entirely, full of personality, with no lack of sass either. A casual and cozy store, located in Minneapolis, on 50th and Xerxes Ave., it has drawn a large customer base over the years. It all started with Ed and Dan Dunn, who opened their first store in St. Paul. The franchise quickly expanded all over Minnesota with 17 locations, and even into North Dakota with two locations in Fargo. City Pages readers even rated Dunn Bros Coffeethe best cup of coffee in the Twin Cities over ten times. The shops fabulous baristas, and welcoming environment continue to draw in many customers to this day. Walking into the shop on a typical day, the second someone opens the door, the smell of roasting coffee and hot chocolate invades the nose. A crowd of exhausted and sullen faced, office and retail workers start off the day, looking for something to help them stay awake to survive the work day. Then comes in the students, who at that point, are probably late for class, but do not care anymore. Even in the winter the store becomes warm from the large amount of people waiting in line for their turn to get fresh brewed coffee or tea from one of the baristas, either Jess or Steve. Possibly along with one of the many pastries offered,
  • 54. The Paradox Of Diversity In College Students College campuses around the world are experiencing the effect of an increasingly globalized world as representation from multiple racial and ethnic groups grow within the student population. The paradox of diversity shows that although this growing diversity is often regarded with a positive light, we are able to observe frequent conflicts and disagreements that appear to stem from racial and ethnic differences (Kasl Yorks 2015). The national identities that have cultivated within ethnic groups allow for the maintenance and spread of culture that enhances a globalized world, but these national identities also promote the formation of in and out groups within a demographic that promote stereotypes, biases, and prejudice. Despite the potential problems present in a diverse population, an emphasis must be placed on creating a diverse environment for college students because the educational benefits and social profits of diversity are abundant and align with a greater goal of higher education to assist in the epistemological development of students to create well informed citizens capable of interacting in a society with empathy as well as intellect. Furthermore, college students are at a prime time to be receptive to diversity and reap a meaningful experience from their interactions with others from other racial and ethnic background. Therefore, the diversity of a student population is important to consider if a meaningful experience of higher education is desired to be

In this lab, lab 4.3 Comparing the Concentrations of Saturated Solutions, we set out to find and compare the solubilities of two solids in water. In addition, we tested if solubility is a characteristic property of a solid in a given liquid. This lab allowed us to test and use a reliable way to measure the solubility of a solid. This lab can be replicated for any solid with the same procedure, thus it gives us a method to calculate solubility. The two solids we tested in this experiment were NaCl (Sodium Chloride) and NaNO3 (Sodium Nitrate). To begin the experiment, we measured 5cc of water and 5g of NaCl and added them to a test tube. Next, we stoppered the test tube and shook vigorously for two or three minutes. After we observed that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Six of the ten sodium chloride groups found the solubility of sodium chloride to be statistically 36g/100cc of water, with a +3g/100cc margin of error. Three of the four groups outside this margin of error had solubilities in the forties, 42, 48, 49g/100cc. These three groups made an experimental error that altered their results and can be excluded from our analysis of data. Another group was in the low thirties with 30g /100cc. Yet the beginning masses that compose the solubility equations do differ. For example, one group found that the mass of their solution was 4.21 grams, but another recorded a mass of 5.47 grams. When it comes to the mass of the solid (solute) the former recorded a mass of 1.11 grams, the latter reported a mass of 1.38 grams. Nonetheless, they came out with the same solubility of 34 grams per 100 cc of water. Thus we can prove that that solubility is a characteristic property. This is because every group started with a different mass of solution and solid, but they concluded with the same solubility (given the +3 gram margin of error and excluding outliers) or were close. Therefore, solubility is a characteristic property. Of the eight sodium nitrate groups three of them found statistically, with a +3g margin of error, 86g/100cc as the solubility of sodium nitrate in water. Another group calculated the solubility to be 82, which is just below the margin of error. Two of the eight groups
